Thanks for all the well-wishes everyone.  I hope you all continue to grow and flourish as a community.
Bragoon out.

Alas, I regret to inform you all that my time has come to leave the forum for good.

I can happily tell you all that it's not out of any fault with the forum, topics, or members.
I feel that I need to leave for some personal reasons, chiefly being that I have observed, during my various breaks in the past few months, that while I'm active on the internet, my diligence in and vigor for real life suffer greatly.  It doesn't seem to me that it should make a big enough difference, but I find that it makes a noticeable difference, and it's one that I shouldn't be willing to afford.

I've had a great time here, short though it may be, and I'm glad to have met you all.
I'm not going to actually delete my account, but I have no intention of ever returning.  I'll be around until Monday to say farewells and all that.

But presumably not all animals with hooves?

I just got my first Professor Layton game.  I will get to the bottom of all this hype.

I think it's great that people get involved and spend a lot of time researching things they like.  But it's important to be mindful of the information you're taking in, and to compare facts with multiple places.  It's also good to remember that the best place to look for that sort of information is the books themselves, and since we have that valuable resource available to us, we should make use of it and check our fact against the book first.

For instance, let's say someone says "Nimbalo the Slayer became a snowpea farmer in the Northern Mountains after Deyna settled down in Redwall."
Then someone else says "Hey that's cool, I think I'll spread this around a bit."  Let's face it, as cool as that may be, it's not very likely that Nimbalo moved to the Northern Mountains to grow snowpeas, and the book says nothing about it.  It can be easy to not word something very well and accidentally (or intentionally) start convincing people of things that aren't true, so we should always check our facts against trusted resources.

I want a quote from Mattimeo or Redwall, not something from an anonymous Redwall site.  There are lots of Redwall fan sites, and I wouldn't take anything most of them said for granted.

Or I can just save you the trouble and assure you that there's nothing about any of Cluny's relations in either book, let alone a mate or a son.

Welcome, Myrkin!  It's alright, we're happy to have any members, regardless of how big of a fan they are.

I've read them all, but they're not really my thing.  After Prisoner of Azkaban, it really dropped out of Youth fiction and into Young Adult fiction, which I tend not to enjoy so much anyways.
Also, I tend to prefer magic a little more scarce, or designated to characters other than the main group, like in the Arabian Nights stories, Lord of the Rings, and Narnia.  It just makes it easier for me to suspend my disbelief, I suppose.  The type of magic in stories like the Inkheart trilogy are more like my idea of how magic should be, something a little more subtle.

That being said, I think Sirius Black is my favorite character.

The Bible says we've been given meat to eat, so I do.  So saying, I try to eat organic and local whenever possible.  However, due to the size of my family, it's just too expensive to do so very often.

Have any of you ever seen the documentary called Food, Inc.?

If you want to be good at it, you must learn to think progressively, to constantly be predicting what your opponent will do and can do, and how to lock them in.  It takes a lot of practice and patience.
11  Redwall Discussion (Spoilers) / General Discussion / Re: Which characters appear in multiple books? on: July 10, 2012, 12:43:24 AM
The Redwall Wikia has an extremely handy list of all the characters, broken up into sections by books, although it doesn't actually have a number posted anywhere that I've seen.

12  General Boards / Cavern Hole / Re: What book(s) are you reading at the moment? on: July 10, 2012, 12:40:46 AM
I would encourage you to be careful to differentiate between an author who writes poorly and an author who writes about subjects that you don't enjoy.
I've never read any of the Twilight books, and I have no wish to because of the subject matter.  However, I wouldn't say that she's a bad writer, because I've never read any of her books, so for all I know she's the most scintillating author ever to live.

Luke did have a nemesis, Vilu Daskar.

Chess is the best game.  No contest, no categories.

Did you know that Skyward Sword is voted #1 Zelda game ever. OoT is voted #2 and Twilight Princess is #3.
In what poll, and who voted?

Having recently bought Twilight Princess for the Gamecube, I've decided that Twilight Princess is my favorite.  A close second is Wind Waker, with Ocarina of Time in fourth.  After that is Minish Cap, A Link to the Past, and Link's Awakening.

I still haven't played Skyward Sword, but I talked to my brother about it some more, and most of his scruples had to do with the control mechanic.  He said it didn't feel particularly refined, and could use some work to make it a little more convenient and user-friendly.
For the record, that's why I bought TP for my Gamecube, not my Wii.
