Redwall Discussion (Spoilers) / Character Discussion / Re: Why Does Martin Not Love Again?
|

Dux, I've seen your debates so this ought to be interesting. I'd say Martin does not love again simply because he pushes the brutal memory aside and fills his time with the founding of Redwall after the defeat the wildcats. He simply could be too busy to find time for love in the sense that he had with Rose. Another argument could be that nobody ever measured up to Rose, and thus he could never love as he loved Rose. A third argument could be made as that some people upon the death of their spouse choose to remain single until their death and never remarry. This could apply to Martin as well. This topic is a bunch of subjective ideas anyway so no answer is absolute or 100% correct or incorrect for that matter.

News and Feedback / Suggestions and Concerns / Re: General Suggestions

Okay, here's a suggestion that I'd like to see be made if possible.
In the discussion on books and characters, can we have sub-categories for each book? I know it warns of spoilers when we enter in the the thread and topics. But I'd like each topic to focus primarily on each individuals own book. The titles are a dead give away sometimes, and it ruins the story. Is there someway we can arrange all the topics? I know it may take some time and effort to do that, but is it possible?
Its highly unlikely we will ever do this. Just food for thought: say we have to sort an old topic on Matthias....will it correctly fit in the Redwall forum? The Mattimeo forum? The Martin the Warrior forum? Just doesn't work...plus I don't see why the discussion should only touch upon what happened in that one book without cross referencing something from another book. Just isn't a very practical idea but thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Redwall Discussion (Spoilers) / Character Discussion / Re: Polleekin-Why exacly didn't she tell Martin about Rose's death?

Some would say if they knew of future events (a crystal ball as it were) they would do more to protect themselves, or chance their life to live up to this prophecy that could happen. That isn't living or life; that's something having total control over you. If Martin had the knowledge that Rose would die at Marshank he might have taken more risks to keep her safe, and essentially die himself, a victim of the fear of losing Rose. The fact he didn't know is likely why he survived and lived to avenge here and destroy Badrang.

General Boards / Cavern Hole / Re: Autism Awareness: How do you feel about it?

we should make a topic just for aspies to talk about things they like! Why not just make topics anyone can reply to? That is far more productive in the accepting of autism or any differences in needs. A lot of the students I work with (students on the spectrum are just some of them) don't want to be seen as different, and don't like being called "autistic" or anything else for that matter. Setting up things just for them doesn't necessarily make it any better if the goal is not to treat them any differently than any other human being out there.

The reason she really isn't writing anymore is because the series ended with the final book, Urchin and the Rage Tide. I've read all five books, and they're a good read. I actually had a Mistmantle vs. Redwall page up for a long time online. The characters are far more gray than any of Mr. Jacques' characters, so they're more human, more likely to be like you or your neighbor or a good friend. They're worth reading if you can find them. The last book went out of print rather fast in the states.

Redwall Discussion (Spoilers) / History, Legends and Myths / Re: Wolves

It sure didn't stop the Redwall crew from killing a wolverine and those are beastly to kill because of their ferociousness. Perhaps as hard as or more difficult than a wolf. So, the thought that wolves don't show up because they're hard to kill is a moot point. Redwall goodbeasts can bring down anything.
