Just wondering if this might be a good idea since fan fiction board seems to be a little more inactive than it was a few months ago. Would a competition like Osu's be a possibility?
Dreams, dreams are untapped and writhing. How much more real are dreams than that paltry existence which we now call reality? How shall we ascend to that which humanity is destined? By mastering the dreamworld of course. That is how, my pupils, that is how.

You guys know I have a soft spot when it comes to the fanfic board, and I see no better way to celebrate it being moved out to the front of the fan works section! I'll get one pieced together this weekend for you. Are we doing themes, or is it a free-for-all with entry topics?

If you're trying to drum up more interest in fan fics, wouldn't the best idea be one-shots? Something short and manageable for newbies both for writing purposes (making it accessible to new participants), and to make the reading easier since this active effort to revive boards is just starting. If you went with something small enough, you could probably get away with hosting one a month even. Say you went with writing a duel first, super basic, low character/interaction requirement, really good environment building practice. Then have them write a seasonal celebration at Redwall, be it the normal feast, or perhaps the wall run event from Loamhedge. Puzzle/riddle adventures, A dibbuns (a collective with an escort) foray into Mossflower (to pick something or what have you), an eating competition at Salamandastron, etc. If that's too much strain, the time frame is super adjustable, bi-monthly, quarterly, etc. The thing is, if you want to inspire new writers, you need something to keep pulling them back in, RP'ing took me forever to get good at, and now that board is also almost dead. If you can maintain interest, the board will sustain itself.

We all clamour for more!
And honestly, I think the format you have is pretty good! Just give us a few words as a prompt and we should come up with something of interest XD

Too bad the first one came out when it did, The Freebooters kind of fit in that theme...

@Jack the Quick , @The Grey Coincidence and @Sebias of Redwall , I HAVE BEEN AWAKENED FROM MY SLUMBER AND THOU SHALT HAVE YOUR COMPETITION!

I'll post it Friday when I'm not absolutely sleep deprived and can give it the attention and thought it deserves, lol. But you all feel good about the format of the competition? I'm game for reading another round! I'll collaborate with our wonderful @Rosie Willowwater on this one and see if we can drum up a grand prize for the winner.
