1. Where did he die?
2. How did he die?
3. Did he marry?
4. Did he have heirs?
5. Why did Brian even stop writing about him??
Questions, questions without answers!

1. At Redwall
2. Old age (as far as we can tell)
3. Not that we know of
4. Not direct descendents, but rather creatures who carried on his role
5. Because he chose too

How do you know he  died at Redwall?
Or that he died of old age?
Like I said, questions, questions without answers.

Could be he died outside the abbey walls, but his body would have been brought back to the abbey itself because Matthias discovered his bones. We assume he died of old age because Bella says he hung up his sword and lived a life of peace - so really, all we know is that he probably didn't die in battle. Maybe he got sick or something. ??? We also learn (in Redwall I think?) that Martin never married or had blood heirs.

I do wish BJ had written more with him, though.  ;)

Martin is meant to be mysterious. Brian wrote 3 books about him. Maybe, Brian meant him to be an unfinished story.

He's still a great character!
One might even say the best! ;) He certainly seems to be a huge favorite among the fans!

I understand he was meant to be peculiar, however, it could be that Brian meant to write another book about him. maybe a finishing book to end the series.  ???

For some reason, I thought BJ had planned to write another book with him, too, though the truth behind that is questionable. I'm pretty sure he never meant to end the series, though - he did end the chronology and began writing every book to stand on its own.
Since Martin, his spirit, and his sword are such a key part of the series, the argument could be made that, really, he was present in almost every book...

I haven't read Doomwyte since it came out, when does it mention this?
