Teer, I apologize for being so long winded about Praff and Torgen, but I swear we're almost done XD

Also, I added a little personal flair to his appearance, if you get the chance I would appreciate an update to the OP character list, thank yoooooou.  :D

Pfft, no problem. It's honestly quite fun.

I'll update the list! Is it just changes to his appearance? (Done!)

Hey Jazz, I didn't really intend both of our characters to be rivals, but I'd like for Damsey and Kurlan to become friends and allies in a juxtaposition to Cuffa and Dartur. I think it would be fun to see them grow together, like Jukka the Sling and Fleetscut from Lord Brocktree

That'd be cool ^^ Damsey tends to get a little ahead of herself but she's NOT looking to make enemies with the other slaves ^^

Edit: How did I miss an entire word... :P

The Skarzs

@Cornflower MM I only just realized why I seemed to recognize the name Bryant.

That's fair, especially since she hasn't responded in over a year >:D

Hey @shisteer of nothing much, as I'm reading through Torgen's words, I would point out that no navy would be comprised of a single type of ship, especially in an era where a large portion of the fighting would be boarding. I'm totally down with Southsward being known for their large, ballista carrying battleships, but they'd also need smaller craft for boardings, recon, etc. How should we go about this? It could be that Torgen is only aware of the large ones, but I don't want to make assumptions seeing as he's a captain, thoughts?

Hmm, gotcha. I did a bit of quick Google searching about ships and stuff, and apparently most ships (of varying shapes and sizes) were square-rigged, while smugglers started using fore and aft rigging pretty early on, enabling them to still manage the wind despite tight twists and turns in rivers and such, hence his claim that they wouldn't be able to get through, since it's a fairly specific maze they've created. Does that make sense, or should I still change it?

I say all this because Torgen mentioned size as the limiting factor, but the Navy would have an array of different purposed ships (of varying sizes). The rigging would make more sense, at least as an argument a captain would make, and gives better leeway for Praff to respond.

Fair. Thanks for bringing that up. I have made the necessary adjustments.

Thank you.

Are there any complaints to the Baldoshi having trained messenger birds? Seems like a better way for keeping in contact with buyers and informants than just waiting for boats to come back with month-old intel.

Teer, do you have any details on the purpose of the temple? Do the Baldoshi have any sort of religion/beliefs that go beyond the average vermin superstition?

Well, the trouble with messenger birds is that birds are quite easily caught, so any information isn't really very secure, but if you have an idea to get around that, then I don't see why not.

As to the temple, I honestly hadn't figured out any details, though me and Corn talked a little bit about it. We have yet to come up with a solid plan, but thinking more sophisticated and well organized than the typical superstition, but very superstitious, all the same. (Maybe involving pet chickens?) If you have suggestions or ideas, let me know.

Given that the only two parties that would be potential catchers are those who eat meat and Southsward, it seems relatively safe as the first is a potential customer, and the second would need to know that birds are being used to carry messages before they could justify catching them.

Additionally, the messages themselves can be encoded, and/or the birds can be trained to only stop for deliveries.

They could also use sentient messenger birds, potentially even have them memorize the messages instead of carry them in some cases to yet further reduce any risks.

On top of all of this, risk is unavoidable for the Baldoshi, so the question becomes more about whether or not the payout is worth the risk. And when it comes to establishing communications, I'd personally say risk is more than justified.

Okay, sounds good, then. We can use messenger birds. I like the idea of them being sentient. Would they be allies of the Baldoshi, maybe even part of the business, or more slaves/servants?

There was the shrike in Bellmaker, in Southsward. Butcher birds are carnivorous. It was also sentient.
