I did a little bit of looking into it, and it appears that if it's done properly (not too tightly) and not left in there, then the horse is fine. There are even a number of instances of braided tails and manes helping with sweat, hair health, and some pest control. *shrug*.
I've been looking back over these past few months, and I've felt off. Felt different. At the time, I wanted nothing more than to go back to the good old days.
But now? Could I just ignore all the ways I've suffered and grown? Caught hold and let go? Could I return from life, having now lived?

I don't think the horses care either. A lot of them enjoy the attention. You get the occasional horse that's a bit stroppy and doesn't want to stay still for that long, but even then, with a bit of bribery in the form of a few good snacks, it's tolerable for them.
