Redwall Abbey

I took the list of badger lords from Snowfur's Redwall Encyclopedia.

Cregga. She was a fierce fighter and then a caring motherly figure. Who could argue with that? :)

The Redwall's Wiki's list is more updated, and complete.

The following that succeeded Sagaxus:

Definitely Russano. Brian should have written a sequel to Taggerung with him and Ruggan Bor .

Sunflash the Mace for me! He wasn't only warlike, he was sensible, calm and made plenty of changes for the better at Salamandastron. A very worthy leader and one of my favourite characters. Second would be Gorath the Flame.

This was really hard because a lot of my favorite characters are Badger Lords/Laides/Mums and I love so many of them.
But in the end I chose Urthstripe because "Salamandastron" was one of my first Redwall books and when I think of brave,fierce,strong,noble but kind warriors I do just instantly think of him.

Sunflash/Sunstripe the Mace had a whole book about him as well, with Gorath the Flame.
As for my favorite, I'll choose Brocktree, Boar the Fighter, Rawnblade, Sunflash, Stonepaw, Orlando the Axe and Russano.

Tis a toss-up between Lonna Bowstripe and Rawnblade for me. I do so wish that BJ had lived to tell the tale of Bluestripe the Wild. Always wanted to know who he was.  :'(

I've always liked Russano the Wise ever scienc I read the Long Patrol. Sunflash has to come in close second and than Cregga right behind him.

Lonna is pretty fantastic.

I really like Sunflash, too.

The more I think about it, the more Violet (Rogue Crew) grows on me. She struck me as being rather gentle for a badger lady - one "on the throne," anyway. For lack of better word.

Rawnblade was pretty awesome. I mean come on, He cleaved a shield in two, while he was sleeping!

Brang was badgerlord during the Sable Quean. :)

He succeeded Gorath the Flame. He came to the Abbey and broke their bell rope, than sent Buckler Kordyne and Diggs to the abbey with new ropes. He also made the Blademaster's Metal. (Redwall Wiki is a wonderful thing!)

And...who is Ambrevina Rockflash? ???

She's the young badger from The Sable Quean.

Who was Melesme?

Melesme was the ruler of Salamandastron in Rakkety Tam. She made the drum for the Abbey.

I wonder whatever happened to that drum.  It would be cool if it showed up in some other books too!

I like Sunflash mainly because of the ending of Mossflower for some reason. I really like his sunflash on his head.

Yep!  He comes back and meets her at the end of Outcast.  I think he lives at Redwall until she dies, even.  :)

I very much like Cregga Roseyes, but my favorite has recently shifted from her to Lord Stonepaw.  He seemed to be a good ruler, and his death was one of my favorites in the whole series.

I would have to say that my favorite badger is well... er... how do I put this. Me.

Call me a narcissist if you will, but you must remember my sword counts for more votes than you do.

how would that go? The problem with Ruggan Bor is that he seemed to be one of the most intelligent chiefs of the vermin armies... and didn't seem egotistical or foolish enough to cross Russano.  ah finally an wise leader!  also another point he shared with Sawney Rath is the fears of legendary feats.

I voted for Lord Brocktree, but the others are cool also it was hard to choose.  I thought Cregga Roseyes had to much bloodwrath to be my favorite. Is Russano the wise in another book other than The Long Patrol?

Boar. he was the one badger that could have had more of a back-story... we saw him in Mossflower briefly, but he was even less of a central character then the likes of Lord Stonepaw. if you notice he is one of the few badgers that had a significant part to play, but no  first person views, all  were observations by his companions.

same here, probably because lord brocktre was my first redwall book. Hes awesome.

I may have said it before, but my favorite Badger lord is Lord Brocktree (I like calling him Lord Brocktree rather then just Brocktree).

Gaaaaa! it's not Ceteruler the WISE!!! It's Ceteruler the JUST!!! Russano is the WISE one!

I chose Cregga, though Sunflash is a very close second!

My favorite is Cregga :D

I don't even really know why... maybe because The Taggerung was the first book I read, but she is one of the characters I'd really like to meet (granted she is dead now :'(). Close second is Sunflash. He's so cool, and I loved all his friends too!

This is a tough call- My two favorites were probably Sunflash and Urthstripe

What I liked about Sunflash was the gentle side of him. He really wanted to be a farmer and play with children, he had a kind heart and looked to his duties in the mountain of Salamandastron with a far less authoritarian way than a lot of other badgerlords. He seemed so humble and down to earth, but at the same time retained that badger lord spirit. Plus becoming a hero in Mossflower country, roaming the countryside and woodlands and saving good creatures makes him really awesome in my book :D

Urthstripe is completely different! He tried to do everything by the book and IMO was an example of a real traditional badger lord. Tough, no nonsense and old school to the bone. His relationship with his daughter really showed how much he struggled with letting go of the mantle of being a leader and trying to be a father- something he really seemed to struggle with. I often felt sorry for Urthstripe because of this. His death truly heroic, and he also says one of my favorite lines in a redwall novel "Urthstripe does not parley with vermin, he buries them!"  8) what a beast!

My favorite is Stonepaw, followed by Sunflash.

Gorath or Boar.
Then Russano and Sunflash.

I like how he is still the big badger warrior and he doesn't carry any weapon other then a stick.
