Title: Constance and Orlando: an untold fate.
Post by: mattimouse20 on January 09, 2012, 05:29:27 PM
At the end of "Mattimeo", we learn that Constance and Orlando the badger become quick friends. we also learn that Constance goes on to train Auma as the new mother of Redwall. However, the book never mentions if Constance and Orlando ever become a couple and start a family.

Thank you! I'm not sure why so many people I talk to ask about this. It's not really that much of a mystery!

I say that Constance was more of a grandmother to Auma and maybe treated orlando like her son........just saying.

What's with the off topic poll?

I don't think there was ever a potential for romance betwixt Constance and Orlando, but if somebody writes that fanfic, you can bet your bally boots I'll read it.

That would make a very nice fanfic... And I can't believe I actually didn't notice how off topic that pole is! hahaha!

Topic. I think that Orlando and Constance both went to Salamandastron. I mean why would Orlando leave behind someone he loved?

Would Constance go?  I doubt it.

I agree with Bagoon, I think it says Constance stayed to mentor Auma which makes perfect sense. I don't think they had anything special between them, she probably thought of him as her son at the most.

Just because they spend a lot of time together doesn't mean they're in love or anything.

But didn't they have a kid or something? I can't remember because I read Mattimeo so long ago. But if Constance didn't go then she would have died of old age.

Nope, they had no children together.  As far as we know, they weren't even married.

Oh. Never mind then. But doesn't it say Orlando and Constance spent a lot of time together?

Yes, it does say that.

Ok then. Then they could have.

Could have, but I'm pretty sure Mr. Jacques would have mentioned it, either at the end of Mattimeo or the beginning of Pearls of Lutra.

I think they were just really good friends.

Same here. There was no romantic connection between them, like with Keyla and Tullgrew: They were just friends.

even if they were in love which i dont think so constance wouldnt have left she is very loyal to redwall. the purpose of redwall isn't for love its for action loyalty and brave beaasts not some love story to me.
