[DISCUSSION] Cheese in Redwall

I can't seem to find a decent answer to this - cheese is present in so many of the books, in feasts and also in making cheese as Skarlath did in Outcast. But what is this cheese made from? Milk? There aren't any cows/buffaloes/goats/etc as far as I know...  

So what did they use for the cheese?

Yep, it's answered.

Greensap milk or something similar to soy milk - a plant based milk in any case, and they use that to make cheese and possibly creams and other dairy equivalent foodstuffs.

They have mentioned milk before too in some of the books. They called it Greensap milk or something.

That is right, Greensap milk. However, Mattthias drank goats milk in Redwall, so yeah...

Honestly I can't remember many specifics not having read the books in years.

Hmm, greensap milk. Ah so like some plant produce, similar to soy milk? That would make sense.

I read somewhere that the milk they use is made from plants, not animals.
