Outdated message
It is so great to see you here and thanks for coming! My name is Captain Tammo (but please, call me Tammo) and I am the host of this event along with my amazing team of judges! We've worked really hard to make this competition happen and it's been a wonderful time so far. We have 14 great awards that we will be giving out when the awards show starts on August 1st. So please, take your time and RP your entrance on our "Red Sandstone" Carpet. Who knows, you may be pretty shocked just who you meet?

For the next couple of days leading up to August 1st, when the awards show officially starts, we are having a red carpet event! We encourage you to RP your entrance to the event as yourself, one of your Fanfiction characters, or one of your Redwall RP characters. The event is set in present day (so there are cameras and lights and limousines and fancy outfits, etc.), but let's face it, I'm not going to stop you from pulling up to the red carpet in a pirate ship! ;) If RPing is not your thing, don't worry! you can just post a hello, or skip the red carpet event all together (I'll keep the side door propped open for you :)).

E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E is welcome, so the only question that remains is: will you come join in the fun?

A tall, lean, blue fox followed after Soren, wearing upon him a suit and bow tie perfectly crafted with deep blue thread. Adorning his head is his raccoon hat, which seemed to have been cleaned up. Finally, he had his signature axe ready on his side.
"Good day everyone! How do exciting this is! A great pleasure it was reading all of your magnificent works! Oh, they all deserve an award!"
The Blue Fox walked down the carpet blinded by the flashes of light and yelling.

OOC: I'll be playing Marshall By the way.

A young ottermaid with a bow and quiver slung across her back pulled up in a limousine (that she was driving) and got out.  She was wearing a knee-length blue-green dress with a small bow, simple attire compared with some of the people there. Upon getting out, she looked at everyone and decided to leave her weapons behind.

Confidently, she strolled down the red carpet, nodding and smiling at everyone.

OOC:  If you couldn't tell, I'm roleplaying as my charrie Kaylan.

Out Of Character (OOC): I will be roleplaying as Captain Leonardo Williams, a character that first appeared in my Fanfiction, The Origins of Simon.

Back In Character (BIC): A limousine pulls up alongside the Red Sandstone Carpet. The chauffeur, an incredibly short looking mouse, hops out and scurries around the car to open the back door. As he pulls it open, a tall, rather slender looking mouse steps out and gives a nod to his driver.

"Thanks, Runty."

"Sure thing, Cap'n. Have fun!"

As the limousine pulls away to make room for the next arrivals, Leonardo straightens his neck tie and puts on a sincere smile. Giving a wave to the people and Fanfiction characters on either side of the entryway, he slowly starts making his way forward and pauses for a picture before approaching Kaylan.

"Hello, there, thank you for coming to the event! I don't believe we've met before. I'm Leo." He says, extending his paw.

Kaylan smiled at Leonardo and shook his paw warmly.  "I'm Kaylan.  You're the head judge of the RAFF, right?"

Leonardo tried to hide a laugh. "Well, that was all Captain Tammo (but I take the credit for it, haha)! So I suppose you could say both yes and no to that one." he said with a wink. "If you don't mind, there are a few others I need to see before the event starts. It was a pleasure meeting you, Miss Kaylan."

Turning about with a smile, Leonardo found another creature through the crowd and began making his way over to them. Quickly coming to a halt, he waited as Jetthebinturong floated by.

"I gotta get me a suit like that one." He mumbled to himself. Straightening his tie again, Leonardo continued on and gave a wave to a nearing blue fox,

"Marshall! Big fan o' your adventures. Great to finally be meeting you face to face rather than speaking through carrier. How was the trek out here?"

OOC: by 'carrier', I simply mean PMs on the forum, lol.

*Appears out of the shadows, Walks on the edge of the carpet with a big ol' smile*

A young otter warrior appears with a fresh new brass buttoned trench coat and and a crieff drivers cap.

"Psh, All this fancy attire, I'd much rather wear some adventuring clothes"

*Spots Marshall and runs over to him waving"

Hey ol' pal!, Hows the adventuring life going?

OOC: I'm playing as Roc Streambattle a young otter warrior who is good friends with Marshall, You probably wouldn't know him unless you've been on the Redwall Minecraft server. :P

"This is Swordblade for Vermin Radio, broadcasting from our mobile station next to the red carpet.  So far, we have seen a number of notables entering the theatre for this gala event."

Swordblade moved a few paces from his table, but within the roped off area for those broadcasting over the radio.  Television crews had the other side and were much closed to the entrance.

Those guys always get the premium sites, but I'm about to scoop you all.  Eat my ratings.

"I'm not sure what to make of the latest arrival.  This is no limosine, not even a luxury car.  To all hearing my voice, we have an ambulance approaching."

The boxy vehicle pulled up to the red carpet and rolled a short distance beyond.  Two otters in orderly whites exited the front and jogged to the rear.  One jumped into the back while the other stood a short distance back.

A ramp extended out and than lowered.  The wheelchair moved forward, its vixen attendant pushing it forward.  The two otters gave a quick bow and departed.  The attendant pushed her patient towards the door.

The old mouse sitting in the chair didn't look too well.  An IV drip was attached to one arm and a breathing tube ran up the patient's nostrils.

Swordblade stopped the pair.

"Pardon me for stopping you, sir, but are you on the attendees list?"

"Check the list for possible, last minute attendees.  At my age and in my condition, attendance was never certain."  He laughed, which turned into a coughing fit.

"Ah yes, the retired Father Abbot of Redwall.  I'm sorry to see the stories of your illness were not exaggerated."

"I'm ill sonny, not buried.  Just glad to be in attendance."

The vixen pushed the wheelchair past Swordblade and handed her invitation to the receptionist at the doorway.  A quick nod towards the camera crew and they entered through the handicapped entrance.

The convertible followed the ambulance and its driver, an old hedgehog, pulled up to its designated spot.  The chauffer ran around the car and allowed his passenger to exit.  He raced back to his side of the car and pulled out at a slow pace.

Everyone who read the gossip columns knew this lady badger.  La-La Taebor strolled across the carpet as if she had wings.  As one of the highest rated female actresses, her name kept many tattletale rags profitable.

She approached the mark and waved as cameras flashed.  Reporters shouted out questions.  The lady badger approached a bank of microphones.

"Just a few questions, don't want to keep the crowds waiting."

"What did you find the hardest part about playing Tassel?"

"You're joking?  The makeup to give me such a disfigured appearance had to be the absolute worse.  Did worry it would ruin my reputation in that first film, but somebody liked it, otherwise I wouldn't have done six films."

"Any truth to the rumors of you getting serious with your costar?"

She laughed.  "Don't think his wife would approve."

Several other reporters shouted questions but she just waved and approached the theatre's entrance as the next guest arrived.

Marshall turned to the Hare and shook his paw.
"Hello there sir! Oh now, my adventures are nothing compared to yours! My hero you are y' ken! Yes, it is fine to meet such a legend as yourself here tonight!"
After finishing his sentence, his attention turned to the young Otter near him.
"Roc me mate! What a pleasure! Oh, you know, goin' around and meetin' new faces stayin' here and there. Say, have you met this here Captain Leonardo? A fine chap he sure is!"
The Blue Fox winked to the Captain has he introduced his pal to his hero.

Leonardo's smile grew bigger and he gave a chuckle "Well I'm honored, truly! Glad to see you've heard o' my stories, too. It doesn't look like the nominees list has been released yet (Tammo mentioned something about collecting the last of the judges' tallies as he was getting ready), but I'm curious as ever to see who's stories made it on there. Who knows, maybe we'll find ourselves and our stories in a bit of a competition, eh Marshall?"

Marshall introduces Leonardo to Roc Streambattle and the two shake paws.

"A pleasure t' meet you, Mr. Streambattle. I'm Captain Leonardo Williams (but please, call me Leo). Are you looking forward to the evening's ceremony? Any particular awards or works you've got your eye on in particular?"

Heads turn towards the ceiling as the lights dim, signalling that the event is about to start. People, RP and Fanfiction creations, and a few notable characters from Brian Jacques' works eagerly shuffle into the grand auditorium. As seats are taken and entrees are served, the lights dim for a second time and a spotlight illuminates the stage.

"Llllladies, gentlemen, and creatures of all walks of life, wwwwwelcome to the first ever Official Redwall Abbey Forum Fanfiction Awards Ceremony!" Cheers fill the room as the announcer continues "Please help me welcome to the stage tonight's host, Captain Tammo!"

Captain Tammo walks out onto the stage and gives a wave to the crowd before him. In the audience, a reporter holds a tape recorder to her lips and speaks into it. "It appears that Captain Tammo's wardrobe hearkens back to the traditional Long Patrol Officer's garb. He is wearing a long, dark parade jacket with a tail and a pair of scarlet bands about his wrist. In the top corner of his chest, a series of new medals are hung in a neat row..."

As Captain Tammo took center stage, the applause began to die down and silence once again filled the auditorium. He took a deep breath and gave no effort to hide his smile, "Thank you everyone for coming out the RAFF Awards. We have a great event lined up for you this evening! My team and I have been hard at work for over a month to make this event a possibility, so it's really a pleasure to see our efforts paying off. We had over 10% of the forum's fanfictions submitted into the competition-- more than twice that of any fanfiction before now-- and we could not be more thrilled about it. There are 27 stories in the competition, each a great work of art... but there can only be one winner for each award. So, what do you say we start things off?"

The audience applauds again as Captain Tammo steps up to a podium off center with the stage to allow a clear line of sight to the screen behind him. He holds an envelope with a wax seal tightly in his grip.

"Our first award of the evening is the Best Drama Award. This is an award given to authors who, through their work, give readers an experience full of exciting, emotional, and unexpected events, bound to keep us intrigued as we read. As a somewhat common genre here on the forum, drama writers often find themselves in a great competition to make their work stand out from the rest, making for some truly fantastic results. Here are the nominees for Best Drama..."

Flandir's Field by BlueRose
" I hope that someday, somehow, I will see her again, the lonely squirrel who loved and lost for eternity."

For if the Light by Gonff the Mousethief
"All Darkness is, is the absence of Light; and when that Light shines, all of the Darkness will wither away. Just. Like. You."

Youthful Disclosure by Cairn Destop
"The candle's weak light bobbed upon the waves until it was lost from sight.  Chitter sat upon the shore and sobbed.  One by one, his friends gathered around him and together they stared out to sea until sleep claimed them all."

The Tale of the Blademaster by Jukka the Sling
"She took off, running past Algie down to the trampled area. The others came up behind Buckler.
"I say, what's going on?" Algie inquired. Then it hit him. "Her family."
"

The Moss Crew by Gonff the Mousethief
"The boats rushed forward through the river likes arrows out of a bow. Faster they danced, and faster they went down the stream. But suddenly, the shrews started to disapear. One by one, they were going into thin air."

"And the winner of the Best Drama Award goes to..."

As Captain Tammo pulls the results out of the envelope, a grin creeps across his face.

Best Drama Award

"Flandir's Field (http://redwallabbey.com/forum/index.php?topic=6239.msg317064) by BlueRose!"

Captain Tammo steps back from the podium and scans the crowd for BlueRose. After some time, he gets a nod from a creature off stage and returns to the podium.

"It appears that BlueRose has not been active on the forum for some time. We will inform her of her achievement through Private Message and, should she make it to the show, we will give her a chance to accept her award."

A white fan with FNN on its side stopped a short distance away from the event. A tall hare exited the van and, accompanyed by his camera crew made his way toward the carpet.

"This is Sage Tip reporting live from the RAFF Awards Red Carpet ceremony, hosted by the infamous Captain Tammo! The Best Drama award has already been awarded to BlueRose.... let's find her and ask her about it. Ms. Rose, hw do you feel about winning this award? Do you plan to continue competing?"

(Blue is on break of the Forum, just FYI.)

A cougar stood far to the side of the stage, his usual leather armor done away with for the moment for a dark blue suit; he figured that it would have been far too out of place to be wearing the battle-worn thing to a fancy gathering such as this. His massive paws made loud, dull sounds as he applauded with the rest for the award winner. Even though he knew his inviter wasn't there in person, he was still concerned about whether or not he would be able to bring back any award for him. There were so many nominations. . .

After Tammo was done and the applause had died down a bit, the cougar stepped up the stage.
"Hello; the judge Skarzs is unable to be present here today. My name is Ronhuk, and he asked me to present awards for him." Clearing his throat, he took a paper from his suit and allowed himself a moment to read it.
"Presenting the award for the fan fiction for the best action. There were several works nominated for this award, their fights and plots full of vivid movement and, obviously, action. These kept us glued to our seats as we read them, wondering what the outcome would be, who would win. But as with every award, one piece of writing must be chosen as winner, one that must stand out above the others for its energy and excitement. Here are the nominees for Best Action...

Not All Evil... by The Skarzs
""Shut up!" Eshery yelled. It had begun to rain, and the water mingled with the tears that ran down her face. "Can't you see he risked his life for us? Can't you see that the last thing he did was something good? Your stubbornness is blinding you from the fact: They aren't all evil!""

Dusktail by Darkenmal
"You dare enter my mountain and utter threats to me and my hares? You think you have the right to desecrate the flag of peace and the bodies of our dead? You think you have the strength to resist an enraged Salamandastron? You think... that you have won?!"

They Weren't the Heroes we Wanted by Eulaliaaa!
"The heroes came here on one terrible day, when we were desperate enough to not turn them away. We were forced to accept them, to forget and forgive, in hopes that those outcasts could help us to live."

The Outlander by SandyB
"My Sword," he barked, "promise me one thing,"
   "Anything Sire,"
"Avenge my death." With that, he heaved himself upright, shed his helmet and charged headlong into a group of wearet cavalry.

The Tale of the Blademaster by Jukka the Sling
"She took off, running past Algie down to the trampled area. The others came up behind Buckler.
"I say, what's going on?" Algie inquired. Then it hit him. "Her family."

And that award is presented to. . ."

Best Action Award

The cougar waved his paw out at the crowd. "Dusktail (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9528816/1/Dusktail-A-Tale-of-Redwall), a Tale of Redwall, the lengthy literary work of Darkenmal!"

As Ronhuk leaves the stage, the announcer's voice sounds above the applause.

"And now, here to present the Summer 2015 Most Promising Fanfiction Award, please welcome Captain Leonardo Williams!"

A tall mouse dressed in a simple, yet appropriate, black tuxedo strides confidently out onto the stage with an envelope in his paw. He stops on the mark and nervously clears his throat before speaking to the large crowd.

"All year long, authors are working hard at balancing everyday life with being a dedicated writer. Many of the Fanfictions on the forum are posted just one chapter or section per week or so, yet still keep us enchanted with the author's ability. Sometimes, you only need to read a prologue or single chapter before you know that the Fanfiction you're reading shows promise. The Summer 2015 Most Promising Fanfiction Award is given to a Fanfiction that is still in the process of being written or posted, and aims to recognize those special works. Here are the nominees for the Summer 2015 Most Promising Fanfiction Award...

They Weren't the Heroes We Wanted by Eulaliaaa!
A unique tale of a group of woodland creatures trying to get through a life with the blessing and curse of having superpowers.

Fire Mountain: A Redwall Version of Pompeii by Skyblade
Delka Brushtail, Badger Lord of Salamandastron, tells two rebellious trainees about the time-forgotten legend of the Fire Mountain.

When the Bell of Danger Tolls by Gonff the Mousethief
With evil about to make a move on the world, seven unlikely heroes will embark on a quest to stop the trouble before it can start.

The Crew of the Lady Fortune by Sagetip, the Hare
A Castaways Fanfiction featuring Ben and Ned's adventures aboard the Lady Fortune, a mid-18th century French merchant vessel sailing for adventure.

Nyroc Brushdale: A Journey to Genesis by Soren the Warrior
Set in a creative, alternate universe, Nyroc Brushdale seeks to one day make himself one of history's greatest creatures.

Leonardo eagerly cracks open the envelope. Hiding the fact that he accidentally tore the results inside by keeping the paper behind the podium, he puts the tear together and reads...

Summer 2015 Most Promising Fanfiction

"And the winner is Fire Mountain: A Redwall Version of Pompeii (http://redwallabbey.com/forum/index.php?topic=7662.0) by Skyblade!"

Leonardo steps away from the podium to allow for Skyblade an opportunity for a speech.

Leonardo shakes Skyre's paw and leads him stage right. A hare walks past Leonardo and onto the stage with a nod.

"Here to present the Best Tragedy Award, all the way from Salamandastron, Captain Dassiter Tussock!" The announcer's voice says above the audience.

Dassiter took even, long strides onto the stage. The tails of his decorated, navy colored coatee follow closely behind him. Stopping at center stage, Dassiter waited with his paws together in front of him for silence to return to the auditorium.

"Tragedies: they're the ones that bring a tear to our eye, yet some of the most beautiful things we've ever read. Writing a tragedy may be easy, but writing a good tragedy is entirely separate from that. Authors need to find a way to find and draw in the reader's sympathy- something that is much easier said than done. The Best Tragedy Fanfiction Award is given to an author who has taken this challenge upon themselves, and succeeded on all fronts. Here are the nominees for the Best Tragedy Award..."

Not All Evil... by The Skarzs
The story of a hero who is to forever remain unsung.

Flandir's Field by BlueRose
The sad, sweet tale of the keeper of memories in Flandir's Field

Blackness by Something Horrifying
A story about a temporarily blinded maiden's encounters with a mysterious hero, who saved her from a shipwreck.

Never Forget by rachel25
A short, tear-jerking story of Martin the Warrior reflecting on his life as wanders through a blizzard.

Of Lies and Truth by Gonff the Mousethief
Tragedy strikes a group of lovers taking refuge in a set of ruins.

The Warrior Lives On by W0NWILL
Luke the Warrior survives a shipwreck and dedicates his life to finding his son, Martin.

The Last of the Long Patrol by Darkenmal
A frightening alternate ending to "The Battle of the Ridge" in The Long Patrol.

Youthful Disclosure by Cairn Destop
A group of young ones set out to seek closure with their tragic origins.

After the preview finished playing, the lights go back on to Dassiter, who wipes a tear from his eye. "Woo, as somebeast who's read 'em all, those authors did well. But there can only be one winner of the award, and that winner is..."

Dassiter opens up the envelope and peeks inside.

Best Tragedy Award

"Darkenmal's The Last of the Long Patrol (http://redwallabbey.com/forum/index.php?topic=5533.0)! Congratulations, Darkenmal, you've earned it!"

Dassiter steps away from the podium and a spotlight scans the audience for Darkenmal.

Through all the applause and friendly shouts, a nervous fox stumbles to the stage and bows. The audience hushes as they watch the fox take a calming breath and begin to speak.

"T-thank you very much everyone, I am extremely humbled at being chosen amidst all the excellent stories and writers!"

The crowd cheers once again and Jerel smiles, looking more at ease as he addresses the crowd once more.

"I hope to be remain here with this wonderful community for many seasons to come! Thank you for having me here this very fine evening."

Bowing once again, Jerel directed a warm smile to the still cheering Sky, Kaylan, and Ronhuk before shaking paws with Captain Dassiter Tussock.

Nodding appreciatively at the crowd, Jerel walked off the stage and rejoined the audience.

The cheering quieted, signaling the time for another announcement. A pretty ottermaid dressed in a simple green homespun habit stepped onto the stage, a smile on her face and an envelope in her paw. Arriving at the podium, she began her speech.

"Hello, one and all. I am Abbess Mhera, not to be confused with the judge Mhera, who unfortunately couldn't make it tonight. On her behalf, I am pleased to be presenting the Flip! Tag Award. The stories in this category give us heroes that transcend their reputations or villains that are evil despite their species. Tales celebrating the uncommon and unheralded. The nominees are...

Not All Evil... by The Skarzs
"Can't you see he risked his life for us? Can't you see that the last thing he did was something good? They aren't all evil!"

Blackness by Something Horrifying
"Their laughter continued until the sun began to set, the Cap'n insisting on teaching the young maid an old drinking song he knew, until she could roar it out with appropriate gusto."

Midwinter by KitrallStreamrippler
"She twisted her paws in anguish, not able to meet the badger's fierce gaze, and answered softly. 'I just wanted to join the festival. I was hoping you'd let me in? For a little while.'"

Youthful Disclosure by cairn destop
"If even one of us turns coward, the quest ends here and now. I don't know about you two, but I worked too hard to have our plans ruined."

While each of these incredible stories is a  powerful showcase of some of fan fiction's unlikeliest heroes, in the end, there can only be one winner, and that is...

Admist the Applause, A Mouse ran up to the stage following the Ottermaid. He had sweat on his brow and shook nervously. His Robin Hood type attire made him an odd scene, not including his hat which kept slipping onto his face.

"Good Evening everybeast! I am Gonff the Mousethief, one of the judges of this competition. I have the great Honor to Announce the Best Song or Poem Award! As a Poet myself, this award is truly hard to earn. A poet must know how express both joy and sorrow in limited phrases and words. They have to know many words from across the globe and when and where they fit best. They must know whether their masterpiece is confusing and jumbled, or too short and misworded. But above all, they must have a joyous time doing writing, with a free spirit and heart. And oh, these contestants have just that. The Nominees for this fine Award are:

The Flippin' Fantastical Fabulous Food Fight, by Tim Churchmouse
"The mole stood up; grabbing a pie
And hurled it at Amber shouting awful lies.
The Squirrelqueen took the pastry right in the eye
And hopped around screaming 'why oh why?'"

Flandir's Field, by BlueRose
"In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly"

Meeting in the Sunny Glades, by W0NWILL
"The grand warrior Luke,
whose tactics weren't a fluke.
There were more mighty mice,
Mariel, Dandin, and Gonff,
Whose adventures came at a price."

All of these Poems showed what Talent and Minds their authors have. However, one managed to rise above the others...

The Winner of the Best Song or Poem Award goes to...

"Glad t' see all of y' here tonight! I meself will be awarding one of me own favorite Awards, the Atypical Award! This here award is given to those who used lesser know tags such as Comedy, AU, or Fluff. It is fun t' write stories about Action, or Tragedy, but these folks dove deeper into writin', and made some o' the best pieces Ii've read in a while. We all deserve some Laughter or Love every once and n' a while. and these beasts delivered. Here are those fine folk:

Midwinter, by KitrallStreamrippler

Nyroc Brushdale, The Journey to Genesis, by Soren the Warrior
"Loud, intense, the pilot struggled to control suddenly the craft. A large badger yanked on the controls, trying to get ahold of the machine."

Strangers At Redwall, By Jukka the Sling
Just then, a badger ambled into view on their left. Surprised, Maska looked up at him. "Um, hi," she said. "Uh, this is random, but are you some guy off a Redwall forum?"

A Change of Habits, by Carin Destop
"He stared into the looking glass at his reflection, knowing he could now accept, and embrace, his new role."

The Great Caper, by Darkenmal
"The Prince of Mousethieves smiled, happy that he wasn't in trouble, but somewhat frightened at how predictable he was to her. She truly understood him, and he felt comforted by that."

The bigger awards were about to begin, and Rhonhuk stepped up to the stage once again.
"We apologize if this all seems a bit rushed, but I'm sure many of you are eager to hear the winners for the big awards such as the best hero, the best villain, and story most like the series itself. First off are the nominations for the best hero:

"Leonardo Williams, The Plague. A mouse traveling through a land in peril; will he stay and help?
Karth, Dusktail. A Colonel in the service of Salamandastron, with a duty to perform and decisions to make, be they easy or painfully difficult.
Luke the Warrior, The Warrior Lives on Luke, the father of Martin, lives again!
Ashen, They Weren't the Heroes We Wanted Able to send flames up at any moment with a flick of the paws, this mouse must learn to control is power and deal with the past.
Teya, Midwinter A weaselmaid wanting to get into the abbey? Preposterous!
Mattimeo, The Outlander (series) Sometimes even those we think are immovable can be changed by something drastic.

Best Villain in a Fanfiction:
The Overwatch, The Overwatch A guardian of an ancient treasure, so the legends say. He is immortal, unable to be defeated! Or are legends fabrications?
Damien the Damned, The Plague Behold the might of the black giant, whose sword is like a flame, and his army like a disease!
Barkclaw, Dusktail You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family; death is like a gift for this fox to give.
Silverscale the Terrible, They Weren't the Heroes we Wanted Slimy, slithering, savage, and sly. Has there been a snake who coveted the beloved abbey?
Jagee,  The Outlander Dishonorable or just greedy, this ferret is determined to get what he wants.
The past, Youthful Disclosure What haunts us more than the events of the past?

Best Canon-Related Fanfiction:
Never Forget There is an area of unknown time from when Martin left from Marshank and his arrival in Mossflower; here is an idea of what may have occurred.
A Change of Habits Usually a leader dies or simply gives up the seat, but what really happens when an abbot relinquishes the power he has? What is the process?
The Outlander (series) There are obviously other civilizations in the world Mossflower is set in, and it is possible for two to meet, and perhaps even ask for aid in saving a betrayed land.
The Crew Of the Lady Fortune Not a Redwall-related fanfic, but based on the adventures of Ben and Ned, and what may happen in the centuries they live through.
The Great Caper Gonff is back at his old tricks again, fooling Dibbuns, telling yarns, and, of course, trying to pilfer something he wants.
The Last of the Long Patrol What would have happened if the last battle in The Long Patrol had not gone as it did?

And the winners for these three awards are as follows:
Best Hero, Villain, and Canon-Related Awards

Darkenmal, for his great literary works that contained the voted best hero: Karth, in Dusktail] (http://redwallabbey.com/forum/index.php?topic=4473.0), Barkclaw, of the same fanfic, and The Last of the Long Patrol (http://redwallabbey.com/forum/index.php?topic=5533.0) for the best canon-related work of this competition!

"As a writer, to have my work so well regarded means much to me. I can only hope to be equal to the praise given to me tonight, and to entertain you all in the seasons to come. Thank you."

Darkenmal with the sweep! Way to go, man!

I gotta say, I had forgotten you'd written both The Last of the Long Patrol and Dusktail when I was looking at the results. I didn't realize that you'd be taking home these guys until a couple days ago! Regardless, nothing would've changed. You deserve it!

A special reminder to all award winners!!!

If you would like, go ahead and mention the award you won on your fanfiction! Do it by editing the title of the page [ex: "My Fanfiction" (Winner of the ____ Award!)], or maybe post a link to the awards show saying "Look! This story won an award!"

You've done your work, now show off the achievement!

There are just a few awards to go, so stay tuned!

'Er, hello chaps!' He says sheepishly.

A mouse coughs.

'Oh, blimey! I've won an award! He instantly swaggers along the carpet to the front, shakes everyones hand in doing so, takes his award, and sits down next to a bemused badger.

During the applause for Darkenmal, music plays again and the announcer speaks out over the hub, "Please welcome back to the stage Leonardo Williams! Here to present the Best Adventure Fanfiction Award!"

Leonardo once again takes the stage, but in a new attire (such is life when in an awards show). He now donned a pair of long, grey suit pants, a white, button down collar shirt with onyx studded cufflinks, a vest of matching color, and a slim necktie.

Leonardo approaches center stage, envelope in paw, and addresses the audience once more.

"Adventures. What else can I say? They're the real life-changing stories. We laugh, we cry, we sympathize with the struggles of others and feel the anger and frustration alongside them when things go wrong. This award is given to the author who was best able to bring the reader along with their characters on unforgettable journeys. These are the nominees for the Best Adventure Fanfiction Award..."

Captain Tammo enters stage right and makes his way to center stage among the general applause. He stops in the middle and holds an envelope up.

"In this envelope are the results of the Rising Star Award, an award given to the masterpieces of the forum that still have under 1,000 total views. It is very true, there are a very large number of Fanfictions on the forum. And sometimes that means a few real jewels get buried in the general mass. "I would like to take a minute to thank my fellow judges for this one. We were not allowed to submit votes for our own works, so it's a real pleasure to see that people truly enjoyed reading this one!

I am blown away at the response the 'Simon' trilogy has received on this forum... I can still remember writing the very first sentence, which would take me on one of the greatest personal journeys I've ever been on. Any time I had a bad day or was feeling stressed, I found that my characters were all waiting for me in Mossflower country, and so I kept adventuring with them until I ended up with a few stories under my belt. Of the whole trilogy, The Plague was probably my favorite journey to be a part of. It was something that I felt really brought my adventures with characters like Leonardo and Dassiter to a satisfying close.

To see all this hard work be recognized by others as a Fanfiction favorite genuinely blows me away. I could not be more happy with how things have played out. So from the bottom of my heart, I want to give the biggest of thank-you's to the members of the Fanfiction community!"

I really hate to spoil the party, but I notice that, contrary to the Skarzs' response to Jukka's question of why her fanfic was nominated for only one award, that several fanfics have been nominated for multiple awards. I am aware that this is probably because the multiple-nominee people are more experienced and such, but isn't that an unfair advantage?

And I just blew it.

(I don't know.

I just read the part about Captain Tammo giving up the award. Wow...that's really considerate :))

@Sagetip: She entered hers on the very last day when most of the judges had finished and probably didn't see it. I nominated her for an award yes, but the others probably didn't. It's just that timing ratio.

The lady badger rose for a second time and approached the stage.  Once more she accepted the award.  She unfolded a piece of paper from her gown.

"Our author anticipated awards for the stories or characters, but never for the authors themselves.  The old hedgehog did offer some written comments I would like to share."

"I have always called fan fictions the training wheels for a writer.  It offers all a chance at exploring a known universe without the need for creating it first.  To some, the idea of writing a fan fiction is considered unworthy of anyone who wishes to become an author.  When you meet such a person, ask them if they watch television.  After they say yes, mention some of the current and best known serials.  Not all of those shows were written by the same person.  In essence, those are true fan fictions, stories that use established characters and settings. "

"Well said!" Ronhuk said, giving another round of applause for the badger.

Congratulations, Cairn!

@Sage: Nominations are just the first part of the whittling down process Skarzs mentioned. All fan fictions were considered for every award they were eligible for, but that didn't necessarily mean they would get nominated. That's not to say a story not nominated for an award it was eligible for isn't well-written, but just that that category isn't where the fanfic really shines. Hope that helps :)

Closing Remarks

For the last time of that evening, Captain Tammo took the stage, his head held high and proud.

"Ladies, gentlemen, and creatures of all walks of life, I would like to thank you for participating in the Official Redwall Abbey Forum Fanfiction Awards. This is a project that was set in motion around two months ago, and I think I speak for everyone who worked behind the scenes when I say that we are very grateful for the kind support the competition has received.

It was a lot of work and a lot of fun to put this event together and honor the forum's existing works. While one purpose of this awards show was to bring attention to a few of the great stories that people have created, my primary goals when starting the competition's initiative was to encourage the reading and writing of Redwall (and castaways) fanfictions. I think that we have done a good job in accomplishing that.

Next, I would like to give a huge thank you and shoutout to my teammates, Mhera, Gonff the Mousethief, and The Skarzs. These guys have put in hours and hours of their precious time to read through each and every one of your fanfictions and put time into judging them all for every award. You guys rock, and this competition surely would have flopped had I not had you guys to help me keep things organized.

Lastly, I would like to give a suggestion to people who stumble across this topic. Give some of these Fanfictions a read-through. There is nothing a Fanfiction author loves more than signing on to the forum and finding that someone has left a kind review on their story. I would like to encourage you reading this to go pick a fanfiction-- any fanfiction, read through some or all of it, and leave a comment or send a PM saying "Hey, this was really great. Keep up the good work." You will be amazed at just how easily a simple gesture can make someone's day!

So with that, I will open the floor up for any questions that people may have, whether it be posted right after this message goes up, or it's a year down the road, we'd love to hear what you have to say!

There are currently plans to make this competition a bi-annual tradition on the forum, but that is a message for another time. Thanks for coming out, everyone, we hope that you had as much fun with this as we did!

This was the first run of the contest and it is scheduled to be a bi-annual event.

At the moment, the next ceremony is scheduled to kick off on February 1 and submissions will be accepted through most of January.

More details will come during and after the holiday season!
