If I could have talked to him while he was still alive, I would have told him that his books have been so inspiring to me, and I want to make movies out of his novels when I become a movie director/animation specialist.
What a great topic. I don't know what I'd say. I'd just stare at him for ages, and then probably give him a hug. ;) He just seemed like such a huggable person! :D Nah, I'd probably tell him that he inspired my love of reading and that he's someone I really look up to. And then hug him. ;)
I wish I could have met him, but he never came to Australia, unfortunately. I was going to write him a letter, but I never got around it it. One of the biggest regrets of my life.
I'd probably tell him how amazing he was to me and ask to have a picture with him ;D
I'd ask him what his favorite scene was in any Redwall book, and tell him that he's the best author of all time (if he were still alive)
I would ask his opinoin on my fanfic!
I'd also tell him that his writing is better than Stephanie Meyers.Much better
I'd ask for writing tips and to have a picture with him... Tell him thanks for the great books...... Man I'm bad at this.
I would compliment, interview, and encourage him to write more books.
I would ask him how did he come up with Redwall.

I have been wondering the same thing for a while now.
Martin the Warrior, how he died, did he go on another adventure, Martin is a mystery.
I would ask him what pets he had
Probaly a wearat, how else would he come up with that? ;)
I think I would have been tongue-tied for quite a while if I had ever had the chance to meet him! Like Daniel, I always meant to send him a letter telling him how much his books meant to me and how they changed my life for the better, but I never got around to it, and now it's too late. If I'd had the chance to meet him in person I hope I'd have been able to tell him that it was his books that really got me into reading and they still influence me, even as an adult.

He had a west highland terrier named Teddy. He's talked about him quite a bit in interviews and speeches.
awesome
i probably would ask him how he got his inspiration and stuff for the books and an atograph and if he has ever been to west virginia
Is Veil REEEEEEAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLYYYYYY evil????
Just kidding.
Yeah, I would have a hard time coming up with something, too. Maybe what inspires him the most in his writing...
I'd ask him if he would love to see our forum
I would ask him to make an audiobook of Marlfox
There are already audiobooks of every Redwall book except The Rogue Crew.
id probably ask him first how hes doing
I'd ask him if he would ever consider making a Redwall board game
I'd probably ask him to sign my copy of Redwall, and then I'd try to find out if Veil was meant to be good/evil from his viewpoint. I don't believe he's ever answered that question in the Q&As or any of the videotaped visits.

These video pieces (if you watch all the parts) will answer a lot of the questions people have had for him. :)
I think I would ask him for tips on how to craft a story...Brian Jacques, was truly a master tale spinner. When he wrote and spoke for that matter, you could see that he gave all he possibly could to his craft.
I would sit and stare.
I'd tell him how wonderful his books are
I would ask him how to pronounce his last name.

I know how it's pronounced.
How?
Quote from: Rainshadow on July 01, 2012, 03:25:50 AM
How?
Like this: Jakes. The name Jake, with the s at the end. It can get confusing though, because a lot of people (including myself for a while) thought it was pronounced Jocks
For the longest time I thought it was pronounced Zhahkes.

Lol
I would ask him what he thought about my fanfiction.
I would ask him what he thought of the illustrations in his books.
I really would've liked to ask him about some of the influences on the books. I know he was a big fan of poetry, especially the Greek classics, and you can see that in his preoccupation with the heroic. There also seem to be some religious influences, especially in Redwall, where the Christian references are the most numerous and obvious. And like I said in my intro post, he liked Aesop and fables, so I would've liked to ask about that.
to autograth my redwall collection.
TO RIGHT MORE REDWALL BOOKS, OF CORSE!!!
I would have asked him why no movies with real live people
and tell i love his books
I would ask him if he would ever do a book tour of Mossflower (I mean, if he was still alive.)

That I think he's given an answer with the Q&A sessions that were originally on the old redwall.org site. Brian was never about mass media--he always wanted children to be involved with books and reading, never really watching. That is possibly why there never has been a big-budget movie (CGI or otherwise) of Redwall.
I'd first ask him if he was a Christian (I'd be heartbroken if he didn't go to heaven) but I would have told him his books were my favorite of favorites. I also would have hugged him.
He was raised Catholic and went to Catholic school. Interpret that as you will....I believe he qualifies as raised Christian. Pretty sure he still was at the end.
make a apprentice BJ
If I could ask Brian Jacques one thing, it would be this: Why did you have to die? :'(
Haha.... Yeah I think I'd tell him how much I loved him books... and I think I'd ask him how to write so well! :l Yeah I was going to write him a letter... but I never got round to it either Dx.
I'd probably ask him to let me be his pupil or something and write books. xD
I love his writing style. (Sorry for bringing up a old thread lol.)
Nay problem. Ah vould 'ave azked 'im 'ov 'e came up vith aw ze placez an' namez!
I would have asked him what kinds of characters he most liked coming up with.
Or some good redwall names!
I would tell him he is the best writer in the world and thanks to him I'm reading and I'd thank him for writing the Redwall book because they've helped me get through a hard time in my life :'( :-* OH I wish I had started reading the Redwalls before he died so I could write him a letter and thank him :-* Praise the name of Brian Jacques ;D Long live REDWALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :'( ;D

I'd ask him what he had against rabbits! It bothers me how few they appear and yet 'vermin' are constantly calling the Hares rabbits. They're so numerous in real life, and regardless of how huffy they are, would've thought they'd be seen about more in the stories.
(By the way, I'm not obsessed with rabbits, though the above question did inspire my name. :D)
I'm sure there's more, but I need more of a think. :)
I don't know, maybe they're native to America?
Hey, new here! Been reading the books for 12 years now, own all the Redwall books & Castaways 1 & would like to get all the other books the author wrote as well, eventually.
Anyway, I'd have to say I would tell him what an inspiration to my career choice he was. I'd probably just like to talk to him as a fellow writer & mentor, as well.
G'day mate, Velcome tae ze forum! Anyvay, goin' back on topic...Ah'd azk him vot 'iz ideaz for 'iz next book vere. Ach, ah vizh 'e vere ztill alive...

Where they originally hailed from doesn't really figure here, seeing as they do appear in the books at all, and anyway, other animals with questionable country routes still appear more prominently in the books. :)
Well, BJ said that he didn't have raccoons and beavers in his books because they weren't native to England.
I think I would give him quite a heartfelt thanks. I mean, sure there are plenty of things I'd love to ask and say, but a true thank you is what I would give him. Think about the impact his series have on people...the good message they spread, the cheer and good tidings felt when reading them, and the most important thing about his books....the way they've helped people.
I've read so many testimonials saying how Redwall got a kid through a rough time in school or at home...
So yes, a big, big, thank you! :)
Good point about the rabbits. Not even a "cousin rabbit" mentioned among the hares except they hate being called rabbits! :P

Yes, More books!
I'd also ask him how he became one of the greatest writters ever!
What are your thoughts on Ironbeak?
i would ask him, "if you could add, get rid of, or change any scenes, which would you change"
I sadly never DID have a chance to meet brian in 2011 I borrowed a book from my neighbor.
I read it in mid 2013. he sadly died 2 days after I got the book. (it was redwall)
I would tell him thank you hug him then just ask him a buzillon questions
I would ask him how much joy writing the Redwall books brought to him knowing that people all over the world are reading it each day. Then I would ask him what he thought about the Forum.
RIP BRIAN.
REDWAAAAAAAALL!!!!
I would ask him about the "grey" characters he sneaked in some of the books... although I think I know why he said all the goodies are good, and the baddies are bad.
this be an old topic, but i'd first thank him for his writing, and all the inspiration he has given to many people. then i would inquire which of his redwall books was his favorite to write, and which character's storyline was his favorite as well (whether that be a hero or villain's arc).
