OOC: We're starting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D Ok, just to say, it's mid Winter!
Toka sat, staring moodily at the wall of his cell. He'd been captured early last Autumn, by some Warlord who owned this neck of the woods. Toka was now sitting in a cell right at the very bottom of that Warlord's castle.
It was dark in the cell, there was no window, the only light came from some torches out in the corridor outside. The torches made loads of foul smelling smoke, and often went out, and sometimes wouldn't be relighted for days.
Toka's cell was down hill from the other cells, which meant everything from the other cells got washed up into his cell. It was revolting, also on the other side of the outer wall, was a lake. During the Autumn, when it rained, the cell would flood terribly. But it was Winter at the moment, and the cell hadn't flooded in ages. But that did mean that Toka's cell hadn't been cleaned out from the flood water for a while.
Toka looked around his bare cell, the only things in it, was a pile of mushy straw, and an upturned bucket, that was full of holes. And, one other thing, a wooden spoon. The spoon had been washed down from somewhere, and had come in under Toka's door, at first Toka hadn't seen the use of the spoon, but then he discovered that the stones in the corner of his cell had worn away, revealing the bare ground. Toka had begun digging an escape tunnel using the spoon as a shovel. He covered up the hole using the mushy straw.
Toka yawned, and smiled, he would escape soon, and he'd take back his sword of the filthy vermin who'd taken it, and then, he'd continue on with his quest. To Redwall Abbey.
-----------------------------------
Perry, sat next to a camp fire. He was cold, homesick, lonely. Oh, and miserable.
Why did I ever leave home to go on this stupid quest? He wondered.
He took the riddle, and metal thing he'd found back home in Southward, out of his pocket. He looked at the carefully, then got bored, and put them back on his pocket. He'd found them in his late sister's belongings, and decided that he would take up the challenge of a quest. Maybe it had been because he had been full of grief, and was upset, and wanted to prove himself to his father. But maybe he should have waited until Spring to start traveling up to Redwall. But he was here now, he wouldn't go back, not until he'd done what he set out to do.
Marshall leaving. He had been banished from Village Ryhgrud. King Wetpaw, the Otter King, had seen him looking in his treasure. Marshall just had enough time to grab a little metal plate with some words on it. They had a trial, and banished him for theft. Now he was on his own.
''Dumb metal thing! Why did I take you with me! Ugh, now I have to cross the North Mountains to get Mossflower and build me a new home! What do you have to say!''
He looked at the metal plate.
''What does it say on ya?''
Arya rubbed her paws, and put them over the embers of her campfire. A few days ago, she'd been hanging around an old tree that had fallen, and found an old, weird metal plate with a riddle that she couldn't make head or tail out of, and decided to go to that redstone Abbey, to see if they knew what it meant. She dug through her pack, looking for it so she could look at that riddle again. Ah, there it was! She held it up and softly recited,
A red Place of refuge nested in green.
Along a brown path from afar can be seen.
A stand for the old for the week for the free.
The place where you'll meet them and start your journey.
She frowned, then sighed. It was time to get going, and it wouldn't be long now. She could just barely see the top of the Abbey, and so she packed the metal piece back into her bag, took out a small package made out of leaf, and opened. More oatmeal scones! Oh well, better than nothing. I'll eat this on the go, and hopefully I'll be there before nightfall. Hey! Where'd the others go? I know I had more in here! She thought, then began frantically searching her bag, them noticed a stoat's pawprint, going West. The same way she was. She smiled grimly. She'd track him, and regain the supplies he hadn't eaten, and then probably tie him to a tree. Without any thing sharp. Of course she'd leave a way for hinm to escape, and if he couldn't find it, then that was that.
The Trickster muttered to himself. Despite being alone, he refused to let the ruse drop, as a little, or in this case a lot, of paranoia was usually pretty useful. He walked out of his cave, and looked at the nearby Abbey, which stood tall and bright against the barren trees. The creatures of the Abbey knew of his existence, but left him alone for the most part. Sometimes they would come to him with riddles to answer, and he would give the answer to them in another riddle. Once some young-beasts had attempted to mess with him, but he quickly taught them to leave him be, unless there was a riddle or food involved. But that was many seasons ago, and the creatures were mainly forgotten.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tauten Err Rip stood proudly over the hill, looking at the Abbey happily. He had been hunting a treacherous Shrew that had tried to kill him, and tumbled down a hole. In the pit he had found a stone tablet with words etched on it. In the dim light, Tauten had read the poem.
A place of trees
And flowers of moss.
There is a shelter
For all who are lost
Look for the signs
That I have left you
And the path to the Abbey
Will never desert you
Tauten felt that this riddle had been left for him. He couldn't explain it, but he knew he was right as soon as he had this thought. Pulling himself out of the hole, he made sure that he had the riddle right. And then, for the first time in his life, he abandoned the hunt, in order to find the Abbey.
Arya saw a fresh mark on an elm tree where the stoat had slashed it with some sort of sharp blade. She fumed, as she was quite fond of trees, and she had a special connection with them. Arya took any injury to a tree made by another beast personally. Unless the injury was done in the good of the tree. But it still mad her mad. She walked over the elm and patted it, and in an undertone said, "I'm sorry. But don't worry; I'll find the beast that did this to you. I swear it." Then she the feathers of a dove, and that made her even madder. And you did NOT make Arya mad without a price. And that price usually ended up with someone on the ground, cringing. She patted the tree, collected the feathers of the dove quickly, since they would be good for fletching, since she was almost out of arrows. Then she quickly walked on, still fuming.
the snow swirled in a blizzard racing cold and hard across the snow swept plans of the far north covering every hole and crevice and rock in a uniform blanket of white. Snow fell so fast and thick that it was impossible to see more than a few paces in front of you and in the middle of all this stood an old broken down shack almost buried in the snow. The in side was ransacked no beast had lived there for many seasons. The table was on its side and the chairs where either broken or knocked over the soot from the fire place had been scattered across the floor by a draft from the chimney. The drapes and blankets where torn and paperer scattered over the floor blowing around with the draft. there was a shattered lantern broken dishes and an old chest in a corner covered in a blanket and everything was covered in a thick layer of dust.
The door banged open and snow swirled in scattering the paper all about the room and a white figure stepped in. An Ermine Dressed in black leather and a gold mask hiding all of her face except for here eyes which shown with a strange deep gold color. She was fallowed in by two to others. The last of her hoard the rest of them had all died of cold and starvation.
"Close the door you idiots!" The ermine said. One of them, a short skinny rat, pushed the door closed fighting against the wind and shoving a block of wood under the door.
The Ermines name was Raxanna and she was terrible and beautiful at the same time. Proud and commanding. She kicked aside a chair and yelled "Get a fire going! Get this place warm! Now!" The other one a tall stoat went over to the fireplace and tried clumsily to get a spark going. The rat grabbed the blanket from the corner and uncovered an old chest. "Look 'ear," He said. Raxanna stepped over a turned over chair and kicked The Chest with the bottom of her boot. "Well don't just stand there get it open there might be some thing useful inside," The rat opened the chest but the only thing inside was a bundle of paper. The rat reached for it but was promptly knocked over the head. "Don't put your grimy paws on it," Raxanna said. She bent over and picked it up. She blew the dust from it. It was a package wrapped in paper and tied with a piece of twine.
She tore away the string and puled away the paper revealing a strange mettle peace with odd marks on it. She turned it over in her paw. Maybe it was valuable. She thought. She then noticed something scrawled on the back of the paper.
A place of stone red and tall
Gates wide open to welcome all
A place of joy and rest and cheer
And all the pieces will meet here.
All four walls of red sand stone
Along the path it stands alone
Here is where you'll find the rest
of the pieces and start your quest
"It's a map, it is a piece of a map," She said
The soft blanket of darkness was over the eastern forests, creating long shadows on the ground. Not a soul was outside.
Except one.
The hare wore a hood, yet that didn't hide the shifty green eyes darting this way and that, trying to catch a glimpse of a beast not there as he hurried down the narrow cobble street towards a small group of houses-his target for the night.
Clark halted outside a dark house and peered through the window. No-one home, but lived in. Perfect. He unbuckled his shoulder pad, revealing several lockpicks tucked inside, chose his tools, and went to work on the front door.
After a short while, it clicked, and he was inside.
A quick search of the house revealed little of interest...except for the carved metal slate. It was too dark to read, but as he ran his paw over it, he could feel words etched into it. As it was better than nothing, he slipped it down his tunic and exited the house.
Clark sat at the corner table, alone, over as mug of woodland ale. The tarvern was almost empty, dawn just a few hours away, and he puzzled over the tablet yet again.
The sun must set,
As perilous blood must rise,
Go along this way,
The friend in disguise.
The green lands fair,
The sanctuary of blood,
Hurry now, find it,
Before first spring bud.
Red, the color of war,
Red is the color of strife,
Don't consider this,
Falsehood will be life.
Puzzle pieces,
Treasure, a dozen a dime,
Meet comrades here,
Redept in due time.
Clark didn't really get the rhyming, nor what it meant, but he could see the word treasure, so he would solve it, for sure.
~~~
All this was nearly a season ago, and it was now midwinter. Clark had a contact in the underground that had solved parts of the riddle in exchange for a nice silver locket Clark had stolen a while ago. So Clark was heading west, looking for the red sanctuary. He had left the east forests of his home, and was now miserable in the winter of the west.
Perry had decided to move on, the icy wind had blown out his fire, and he hadn't been able to start it again. So moving on had seemed like a good idea. Maybe he might find a cave, or a little village.
Perry had trudged through the snow for what seemed like years, but in truth it had only been a few hours. He was frozen, he couldn't feel any of his paws, and he felt like he was about to faint. Then in the distance, he saw a pin prick of light.
"A house!" He coughed, and made a beeline for the light.
----------------------
Toka was digging again, it was the only way to keep warm. His tunnel wasn't far off being completed, but the ground was hard, and frozen. His spoon could snap at anytime.
Toka coughed, and pulled his tattered jacket more tightly around himself.
"Not too long now. Not too long now." He muttered to himself as he worked.
OOC: I'm not going to post until Han gets on and answers a question of mine in the OOC:
Older then record.
Redder than a rose.
A Welcome to friends.
Strong against foes.
A place in the South
Where you will find.
All of the pieces,
And Those of like mind.
You all set out,
With one intention.
But you wont find it,
With out there concession.
''Well, sounds like a riddle to me!''
Marshall kept walking through the snow. It was very deep because of all the snow from the north. When it was getting close to evening, he decided to make a small camp.
''So, what does the first part mean? Older than Record, Redder than a Rose. Well, that must mean it is an old red place I guess. A welcome to friends, Strong against foes.
''I hope they see me as a friend! That's enough for now, great, its Snowing! Ugh, now how am I supposed to make a camp! Ill keep movin' till im tired then.''
He picked back up his stuff and kept moving through the light snow.
OOC: Okay, you knw what? Sorry, Han! I'm bored. And I have time for a nice, long post,
BIC: Arya saw another slashed tree, but this one had the dagger IN iot. She gasped in outrage, and ran over and pulled out the knife, then heard a voice say, "Drop da dagger, an' no one gets hurt. My my, but ain't you the pretty one?" Arya had turned around, glaring at the stoat. "No, I don't think I will. This is a good blade, who'd you take off of? I think I'll keep it." She said, then added, "Oh, but maybe I will drop it." She dropped the dagger, and got her bow off her back. "Now, stand there or run, it doesn't matter to me." The stoat panicked, and ran. She aimed, the fired, and the arrow zipped straight over his head, drawing a line of blood. She'd aimed that way on purpose, and the trick worked. He fainted in fright, having never dreamed there would be a bowbeast so good, and especially a female who was so good! She walked over, and searched the bag he had. Sure enough, there was her food. And a handy rope. She grimly smiled, and dragged him over to the closest tree, tied him to it so that he was giving it as backwards hug, and sat down and waited.
When the stoat woke some time later, he realized that: He was tied to a tree, his pack was gone, and the squirrelmaid was sitting in front of him, sharpening the dagger. When she spoke, her voice was cold. "Now tell me, why did you take my food and harm two trees?" She asked, never pausing, just waiting. When the stoat did not answer, she raised her head, stood up, walked over to the vermin and put the point of the dagger on his nose. "If I were you, Vermin, I'd start talking before I had a blade for a nose." The stoat started blubbering, and she pressed harder, drawing blood. "Quit that racket and answer me!" She snapped, and he immediately stopped and started babbling. "I only took ya food 'cause I wuz so hungry! I tripped and had me blade in mew paw when the dagger swiped a tree! I stuck me knife into the other tree fer safe keepin'! Honest!" Arya frowned, then gave the stoat his verdict. "This is your lucky day, vermin.I'll let you live, but I'll just stop and see if anything in your pack catches my fancy. There is a way to get un0tied from this tree, but if you aren't smart enough to find it, then your luck's run out." Arya did as she said she would, and took back her food, along with the dagger. She left the rest, since it had no worth to her. She went and retrievdd her bow and her pack, then set off. The stoat had taken up quite a few hours of her day, and she sighed. But Arya still walked on.
Raxanna read the riddle over again and one phrase caught her eye. Here is where you'll find the rest. "The rest," she said slowly to herself. "The rest... We will head south as soon as the blizzard stops. We will find the other pieces,"
OOC: Ah vill pozt in ziz on ze morrov!
Perry had made it to the house. But had collapsed, a few steps away. He couldn't go on, he was just too cold.
From inside the house, he could hear singing, it was such a lovely sound, Perry wanted nothing more than to be in that warm house.
Just then the door of the house opened, a hedgehog stepped out, and started towards a wood pile. Then he sighted Perry, half buried in snow.
"Cara, heat some water, and gets some blankets. We've got ourselves an half frozen squirrel!" He called into the house, then hurried over to Perry.
All Perry remembered was being picked up, and carried towards the doorway, then he blacked out.
-------------------------
Toka's spoon snapped. Right through the middle. Of course Toka wasn't happy about this, he was so close, and the darn thing snapped.
The ground was frozen, but Toka began digging with his paws. He would not give up now, he wasn't going to spend another day in this stinking cell!
OOC: Just a thought, but sometimes when a spoon snaps, there's enough of the bowl shaped part to keep digging - Or eating. Yes, I've snapped a few plastic spoons. So sue me.
The storm had stopped a while back and the tracks of the three creatures in the snow stretched on as far as they could see. Raxanna marched on ahead and the two tiered soldiers trudged tiredly on behind afraid to complain talking of the things they had head of the south to keep there minds off there tired limbs and cold paws.
" I 'eard that they have food and lots of it all year round, fish and pies and fruit," The Ferret said
"Don't be silly no place has got that."
"Oh you think just you wait! Its warm all year too,"
"Naw! I know as shure as I got three ears that no place is warm all the time!"
The ferret pushed the Rat into a snow drift " You've got only two ears you numb skull!" The two then went on to listing the things they would do when they got there.
"I'll get me self a real proper fish and eat it all my self," The ferret said
" I'll have a pie and a big fire all toasty warm,"
" And a bird cooked good ripe on the bone!" The list went on and on Raxanna tried to ignore them keeping her eyes front and staying silent they where making her even colder talking of the warm south and the food. She had not eaten , neither had they, since yesterday when they had found a half dead frozen bird. She gritted her teeth and marched on. At least this was better than a revolt. She had to keep there nerves up till they got to the south then ,if it came to that, she could dispose of the fools.
The snow had picked up. Marshall was trudging on, bit by bit. He was very cold and frozen to the bone. He was now close enough to see the North Mountains. When he looked up to see them, a large talon came and knocked him out.
Go up, Go up
back to yer roots ye go
Go up, Go up
The place that twas once yer home
Go up, Go up
To the North take ye
Go up, Go up
Return the spoon to the dear abbey.
The words reverberated over and over around his mind.
...to the dear abbey........
The light seemed a little low. He glanced at the fire. The embers had all but dissipated. What remained was barely keeping the cave lit. He sighed and got up, making his way over to the small wood-pile by the entryway of his current home. He sighed again and peeked out from the caves entrance. It was still snowing, albeit lighter than it was a lot farther north, but yet still coming down-the flakes coming to rest gently on the dusty ground. Even this far south was still not out of the touch of Winter, and no doubt there would be more in the morning. Still, he rather liked the quiet of the deep-south; it being a bit more to his liking than the various and many other places he had been. Even despite the occasional scorpion.
He picked up several pieces of wood from the pile and returned inside to the fire, laying the wood down and watching the fire hungrily devour it. He smiled as the fire slowly returned to it's former brightness. He sat up on the blanket that he used as a bed and pondered the past. He had quite the times to ponder-his many adventures, his dibbun days back at the abbey....
..The abbey.....
He stopped. The words from his dream went through his head again. They circled about, like a rattlesnake slowly making it's way to it's prey. He stopped himself. There was time for that in the morning.
He gave another glance at the fire. It should last for another couple of hours. He sighed and sat back, placing his old hat over his eyes; the spoon clasped lightly in his paws. The spoon...To return....
Jareth Carr quietly fell asleep, dreaming back to the old days when he was but a child at the abbey. The dear old abbey...
Arya noticed that it waas getting dark already; She muttered a mild curse. She'd spent more time dealing with that stupid stoat than she'd originally thought. She fond a nice spot to spend the night, and made a fire, and started roasting some bread and cheese over it. The last supplies she had.
OOC: Just a thought, but sometimes when a spoon snaps, there's enough of the bowl shaped part to keep digging - Or eating. Yes, I've snapped a few plastic spoons. So sue me.
OOC: I know, but this one's gone beyond repair, or use. But Toka's close to the surface anyway.
BIC: Toka's breathing became ragged, so close, and yet so far. He lost his temper, and struck out hard at the earth he was desperately trying to more. His fist went straight through it, and he felt snow, soft, and cold. Toka began digging again. He'd be out any minute now, then time for revenge!
-------------------------------
Perry opened his eyes. He was rapped in one, no two blankets, next to a roaring fire. His head was resting on a pillow, and he was laying on some kind of woven mat. It was very comfortable. Perry saw his wet cloths hanging on a rail near the fire. They looked almost dry now.
Just then a hedgehog walked into the room, and smiled at Perry. "Good evening to ye, how'd you feel then. No paws missing or anything."
Perry blushed, something he did quite regularly. "Um, I'm fine thankee sir."
The hedgehog laughed, "Don't be calling me sir, you rascal. My name be Hundle Downyspike."
"And mines Perry Swiftbreeze." Perry said, sitting up, and shaking the hedgehog's extended paw.
The Sanctuary of Blood, wot? Fitting name. Clark thought as he stared at the sandstone building in the distance. The contrast of the pink-red sandstone to the dark trees and white snow was as striking as blood on rock.
"No use marching on an empty stomach, wot wot!" he said aloud, mostly to relieve the quiet. Though he was a master thief(as he vainly called himself), Clark was also a hare, and, as such, loved eating and talking.
The food was meager and stiff, but he scoffed it down anyway. To a hare that hadn't eaten in fifteen minutes, it was marvelous.
EDIT: Because there was a location confusion. :) Still by himself.
Marshall awoke in a cave. He looked around. We was very dizzy and felt a large bump on his head. He looked around. He almost passed out when he saw a Huge Eagle standing behind him!
''Sit down Blue Fox, I saved you from the winter cold.''
''Wh-wher am I?''
''In my mountain''
''Well then, what is your name? Mine is Marshall.''
''Mine is RaveBeak the GentleGiant. I only slay vermin, but you had a look to you, so I did not kill you.''
''Why thanks! Why we are here, can you read this and tell me if you have seen a place like this?''
He handed him the piece.
The Sanctuary of Blood, wot? Fitting name. Clark thought as he stared at the sandstone building in the distance. The contrast of the pink-red sandstone to the dark trees and white snow was as striking as blood on rock.
"No use marching on an empty stomach, wot wot!" he said aloud, mostly to relieve the quiet. Though he was a master thief(as he vainly called himself), Clark was also a hare, and, as such, loved eating and talking.
The food was meager and stiff, but he scoffed it down anyway. To a hare that hadn't eaten in fifteen minuttes, it was marvelous.
His snack done, Clark continued through the bare trees, eating pawfuls of food from his many pockets. As he walked, he became aware of a building, sheltered by fir trees. It stank clearly of vermin that hadn't washed in seasons, and he crouched, creeping slowly forward. It was a weakness, he had to admit, that he couldn't pass by such a building without robbing it. He began his quiet approach, to scout for weaknesses.
At least, that was the plan.
As he crept forward, the snow gave way below his weight, and he tumbled into a tunnel, right on top of Toka.
OOC: Toka's a long way a way from the Abbey. He's still far east., he's not even in Mossflower yet. I probably should have said that earlier.
BIC: Toka was out, he leapt out of his tunnel, just before it collapsed. He flopped down in the snow, breathing deeply, looking at the sun just as it set. How he had missed it.
Toka got up onto his knees, he could leave right now. Get on with his quest, escape unnoticed. But he couldn't. The vermin had taken his metal thingy, but more importantly, his sword. He'd kill them all for that. He stood up, and examined the wall before him, he could climb it. Then he would just have to locate the vermin leader, who had his sword, and his metal puzzle piece. Easy.
----------------------------------
Hundle nodded, "Good name, it suits ye, young un."
Just then a kindly looking hedgehog walked into the room. She looked motherly, and friendly. Perry liked her instantly.
Hundle walked over to her, and put his arm round her. "Perry Swiftbreeze, met my wife Cara Downyspike, Cara, this is Perry Swiftbreeze."
"A pleasure to met you." Perry nodded.
"The pleasures all mine." Cara smiled, "Now, I'm sure your hungry, why don't you get some clothes on, while I go get you something to eat."
"Thankee ma'am." Perry replied.
Arya tripped, and went head over tail into a huge snow bank. She poked her head out of the top, muttering to herself she started trying to get out of it. "Pl-ah! Ugh, this snow is freezing! Huh, I must look ridiculous, a squirrel head sticking out of a mound of snow. EEK!" The shriek she gave was because there, laying in the snow, was a half-frozen owl chick. She looked up and saw a nest, and immediately saw what had happened. The chick had evidently fallen out of the nest when the snow had first started, and not being abler to fly, got stuck on the ground and froze. Then she noticed the missing feathers, the missing wing, and the slightly bloody snow underneath it. She carefully turned it over, and gasped. Someone had murdered the owl babe! She scrambled away from it, and then crouched there, frozen with horror. A few minutes passed, and she crawled back over and made a grave. It was hard to make a hole in the frozen ground, but she did, with help of a handy branch. When the poor thing was buiried, she went to see what she had tripped over. An owl chick's wing. She screamed and started running away from the pl;ace were death had visited, and slammed into someone. She collapsed of fright.
OOC: Han, this might be the time for you to post.
A pine forest loomed up ahead the sky was growing dark and Raxannas followers were getting wrestles. She knew that she could only go so far before she had a problem on her paws.
"Shift your paws once we reach the forest we will stop and camp for the night,"
Ringtail (the ferret) and Dragut (the rat) ran excitedly ahead, like a pare of children when called to dinner, calling and talking with each other as they went.
Fools... I am stuck with fools. Why could it not have been one of my captains who survived? She thought to herself in despair. Fate is cruel yet sweet I can smell riches and a life of prosper in this map and this house of red stone.
OOC: Flowers getting wrestles? I think you mean, "Followers getting restless." Is itr the Auto-Corrector at work again?
OOC: :P Yes.
OOC: Oh! That's what I thought. You fixed the Flowers part, but they're still getting wrestles. :P I'm not givbing you a hard time, or anything. Auto-Correctors can be annoying, and also help to make a spot with nonse words, in an otherwise perfectly fine sentence.
Hundle smiled at Perry, "Well, I've got things I need to be doing." He got up, and left the room.
Perry stood, but and retrieved his cloths. He put them on, happy to have them dry again. Though they were terribly thin, and ill suited for winter weather in this area.
Cara came back in, carrying a tray, "Here you are my lad." Then she frowned, "I must say those cloths aren't the best for this type of weather. What were you doing going out in them?"
Perry blushed, "I'm from down south. I didn't know what winter was like this far up north."
Cara sighed, and put the tray on a table. "Before you go anywhere, I'm going to have to sort you out some new clothes."
OOC: Uh, Rachy, it's "Clothes." The English language is far too confusing. Sorry if I'm coming off as criticizing everyone; I just tend to read the posts better when I'm waiting for someone in particular to post. In this case, Han. Anyone seen him?
OOC: Might've seen him around.
BIC: Tauten was walking when he heard the scream. Grabing his Rapier, he turned around, and was promptly smashed into by another beast. Before he could do anything in response, she collapsed into the snow. Blinking, Tauten poked her a few times to try and wake her up.
OOC: Very funny, Han. ::)
BIC: Arya felt something poking her, and then it poked again. She twitched, half awake now. She kept her eyes closed, and then she was prodded again. She leaped up, drawing her sword. "Who are you and what do want you? And, while I'm asking questions, what ARE you?" She asked, settling into a ready stance. One could never be too careful these days.
Toka scaled the outer wall, up, and up he went. Not once losing his footing. He could see a guard on the walltop above him. He wasn't facing outwards though, so he, no she, wouldn't see him. Toka reached the top, the guard, a weasel, turned. She looked into Toka's snake like amber eyes, and opened her mouth to scream. She never got the chance, Toka was on her in moments, he didn't need steel to kill a beast. Toka wiped blood from around his mouth. He looked down at the slain weasel laying at his footpaws, blood gushing from a wound in her neck. Toka bent down, and took her dagger, and sword, then picked her up, and threw her over the wall. Now he was armed.
OOC: And you begin to get an insight into what kind of a creature Toka is.
OOC: Don't tell me. He bit the weasel? Ew!
OOC: ...I'm now glad Clark didn't stumble upon him. :P
Clark reached the red castle a few hours after sunset. It was very dark, and he peered up at the wall top, not seeing anybeast. Deciding to not try yelling(he didn't like straining his voice, and besides, they might not be friendlies), he patrolled around the edge of the wall, and found a little wall gate, half-buried by snow. He ran his paws over the gate's surface and peered closely, looking for a keyhole.
Huh.
It was locked by a door bar, so no picking any locks. Clark was always under the opinion that bars were primitive, but he could not deny the fact that they were effective. Undeterred, he pulled his curious short sword from its sheath, and slid it between the wall and door, planning on pushing the bar upward. Darn. The bar was locked in place.
Clark sheathed his sword and sat upon the snow thinking and chewing on a stiff roll from one of his pockets, planning his next move. There was no way he could climb over the wall; it was very high and Clark was no squirrel! He never had a head for heights anyway. He was willing to bet that any other gates were locked in similar manners.
Seeing no other alternatives, and reasoning that since the tablet had belonged to an otter, it was probably a goodbeast home, Clark cupped his paws around his mouth and hollered, "Lord Clark Sonabeller deTriffony of the eastern forests wishes to bid you chaps a good night, and also adds that he's freezing and abso-balla-lutely starving out here, wot! Now let a chap in!" a creature of prestige would be fed better, and less likely to be turned away, right?
Raxanna Sat on top of a bolder protruding from the snow the moon shown down threw the branches of the pine trees glinting off the snow in the most beautiful way but she didn't see it. Ringtail and Dragut where snoring uproariously.
Raxanna thought, not sleeping, not tired, staring threw the trees at nothing.
''The place in the Riddle is Redwall Abbey. It is a place of peace and comfort. Apparently, there are more like this.''
''Wow! I cant wait to get there! Thank you Rave Beak!''
''Well now, are you planning to go down a mountain, and go willy nilly until you find the place?''
''Ya, sorta at least.''
''I could show you the way there if you want,''
''Can you fly me!!?''
''Well, I am not the youngest Bird, nor the strongest, but I know one eagle, Goldfeather StrongClaw, who probably could. Ill go over to see him. For know, you just stay here and rest.''
''Sounds good sir!''
He flew of out of the mountain.
Perry beamed, "Thankee ma'am, surly there's no kinder creature in all the land!"
Cara chuckled, "Oh, stopit you great bushtail!"
------------------------
Toka crept down the wallsteps. Now he had to get an idea of how this place was set up, and fast. He would have to work by stealth. There was no way, he could infiltrate a place like this by force.
Toka decided he worked it out as best as he could, then set off towards the wall in front of him. Yes, it would be climbable, though it would get a little difficult towards the window he was planning to climb through.
Toka took a deep breath, and began to climb.
OOC: Haannnn Nooorrrrwoooooodddd, HERE IN THE BLAZES ARE YOU?!?!?!?!?!!?
OOC: I'm sorry, I've been real busy lately, with Soccer and school.
BIC: Tauten jumped back as the squirrel drew her sword, raising his own. "My name is Tauten Err Rip, I am poking you because you seemed to faint, and I am a Pantagonian Mara. I heard a scream, so I came to help. Now, I's like to ask the same questions of you, Squirrel."
"Hmm. Well then, you seem honest enough. My name is Arya, and I'm not in the habit of giving out my last name. I was the one who screamed. I tripped over an owlet's wing, and found the rest of the body." Arya said, sheathing her sword and standing up straight, which helped to display how young she was even more. She held out her paw, seeming quick to trust, but that was a front.
Toka was just below the window, but he couldn't quite reach it. He couldn't climb any further either.
He swore, and reached one more time, his figure tips brushed the sill, with one last desperate effort, he jumped slightly. His gripped the sill, and pulled himself in. He had chosen a bad room to make such an entrance.
Toka bit his lip, the room was full of vermin.
----------------------------------
Cara had gone off to find some clothes, or some materiel to make clothes.
Perry sat down to eat the food she had made for him. Raspberry cordial, two vegetable pasties, a shiny russet apple, two scones covered in strawberry jam, and meadow cream.
Perry sighed, and tucked in.
OOC: Okay, now you've made me hungry!
Clark sighed as nobeast answered his calls. He began circling the castle's wall, searching for another gate. Maybe, just maybe, one of the gates would be unlocked. He wasn't looking forward to stumbling through the cold snow in the dark.
OOC: The 'castle' is Redwall. It's told from Clark's point of view, and when he sees walls and a building, he doesn't think abbey, he thinks castle. Just in case anyone didn't get the hint and let poor, freezing Clark in. :)
OOC: There are no Player Character At Redwall at the moment so you might as well make a NP character to let you in.
OOC: The story of my life, Cornflower.
BIC: Tauten reached out, taking her hand and shaking it. "A dead owlet?" he said, looking around. "Where is it?"
It was hard to say if Toka was more surprised, or the vermin. It must have been the vermin, cos Toka recovered first, and set about killing the closets two vermin to him. That broke the spell, chaos started. No one knew who was fighting who, they just hit anybody. Toka found it easy to slip out while the vermin beat each other black, an' blue.
He was then faced with a startled rat, he was the one who raised the alarm. "Enemy in the castle! Intruder! Intruder! Intrud, agggggggg!"
Toka snorted at the headless rat, "You just had to ruin everything didn't ya mate." He hissed.
But he was soon back to his calm, you can't touch me mood. Five vermin came running down the corridor, Toka made easy work of the first vermin, but the others weren't so easy. The scored some hits, but even though Toka was fighting with a second rate weapon, he out classed them. He was more skilled than any of them. The last vermin, a ferret, realised this, and ran, with Toka, bleeding from multiple cuts, hot on his heels.
The corridor was a dead end, the ferret flung himself at Toka's feet, "Oh please good sir! Don't 'arm me. I was only doing my job!"
Toka lifted the pathetic creatures head with his sword tip, "Where's the warlord's private quarters?" His voice was like death itself, mixed with a good load of menace.
"Down the corridor, up the stairs, second door on the left, just please spare me!"
"I think not." Toka said coolly, before stabbing the ferret through the neck.
OOC: Urgh! Remind me not to read your posts as Toka at night, Rach. What exactly do you mean, Han?
BIC: Arya pinted, "Over there." She said, then set off toward the owlet, tryuinmg to not to turn around and run screaming in the other direction. Hey, she was only eighteen- soon to be nineteen, but still!- and just a bit inexperienced.
OOC: Raxanna would like Tolka.
Raxannas concentration was broken by the snap of a branch from above and a shadow that stretched across the snow blotting out the patch of moon light. She glanced up and saw many large black shapes in the trees. Crows! She slowly got to her feet acting like she hadn't seen them. She drew her sword and kicked the snoring rat he sat up with a shout. The Crows where on them in an instant. The Ferret woke up and Two crows soon fell upon him trying to peck out his eyes "Move Move GET OUT IN THE OPEN!" She shouted her sword pinging off the beak of a crow and slashing the wing of another. She ran back the way they had come a crow clawing at her as she went.
OOC: I'm glad I'm getting across what Toka's like. 8)
BIC: Toka had made it to the door with no further incident, he opened the door, and strode over to the bed. A big male stoat, and a female stoat were in the bed, both fast asleep. Toka drew his dagger, and stabbed it into the male stoats throat, he made a strange, strangled noise then died. The female stoat, woke up, looked at Toka, then her dead husband, and screamed. the scream didn't last long, she too lay dead.
Toka climbed out of the window, reunited with his precious sword, he had also taken the warlord's dagger, it was better than the one he had taken from the weasel.
Toka was leaving, when he decided something, an evil smile spread across his face as he went off to find what he would need.
Twenty minutes later, and Toka was on his way, the castle that he had been prisoner, was going up in flames behind him.
"That's why you never mess with Toka the Savage, Son of Fire, and Darkness." Toka smirked.
OOC: That's kinda.....Merciless. Does he even have a good sense of humor?
OOC: Doeznae look loike it...
BIC:As Askar walked across the shore, he was puzzled.It seemed that the day's events were going his way:
- First there was that searat galleon wreck(he had put a hole in it a week before)which he had found on the shore.
- Then there was the fact only one crew member was left, slowly dying of exaustion.
- And even then he had found with the searat a broken piece of meatal, which as the wave-vermin's last words cam out of his mouth, he recited a riddle
Go east,
To the test,
From the main and the shore,
You shall go to be sure,
To the great Abbey of red,
With the highest of walls,
Past forest and ford,
Be sure answer the quest. - Now upon saying this he passed away,never again to rapage the shores of Mossflower and beyond.
[/list/]
So Askar wandered the shore through the snow,unconsciously travelling east as he thought...
OCC:Askar is a Monitor Lizard!!!!! ;D
OOC: Your post about becoming hungry.
BIC: Sheathing his Rapier, Tauten followed the young squirrel. "Wow," he uttered softly, once they came upon the Owl. "One win ripped off, the poor thing mutilated. Who would do this sort of thing?" he thought out loud.
OOC: Hey, Will Ruth! Nice to have you join. You only have to BIC: (Back In Character) when you've done a OOC: (Out Of Character) post. And I'm pretty sure the the Bcc: codes are a biut different. I'm sure that you'll pick up the hang of it soon! (I didn't pick up the hang of it for about a week or two)
BIC: Arya bit her lip, replying, "I don't know. There a nest up there" She pointed to the nest, and then got buffeted by a wing. She gave an "Eeek!" For, the wing belonged to a full grown female owl. Who had a foot planted firmly on her chest.
OOC: That's kinda.....Merciless. Does he even have a good sense of humor?
OOC: Nope, he's a cold hearted killer. He was banished from his tribe after killing someone. Though he didn't really like the tribe anyway. He's more like his father, who was a warrior, than his mother. ::)
BIC: Toka trudged on through the snow, he was cold, and exhausted. He hadn't eaten since mid-noon, and he hadn't eaten properly since before his capture.
The wind was so cold it took his breath away, he had to find shelter before he collapsed. He scanned the area, and his sharp eyes caught sight of trees, a lot of them. He headed in that direction, and was soon in amongst the trunks.
Toka looked around for a cave, or hollow. There was nothing. He came to a stream, it was completely frozen. Toka fell to his knees, had he escaped that rotten dungeon just to die out in the snow?
Toka found himself saying every curse, and swear word he knew. It just wasn't fair!
"Yiss, yiss, you keep talking like that, and you'll need your mouth cleaning out with soap, yiss, yiss."
Toka jumped up, and drew his sword, all in one smooth movement that spoke of many a season handling weapons. "Who's there? Show yourself!" He shouted.
"Oh aye sir, I be down here, yiss yiss."
Toka looked down toward the stream, and there stood a vole. "What do you want?" Toka spat.
"Well I had come to invite you out of the cold, but it seems your quite happy out here on your own, yiss yiss." The vole said, and turned to leave.
"No!" Toka found himself saying, "Let me come inside."
The vole turned around, "Alright then, but you don't say no bad words anymore, yiss yiss. I must say, I never expected to see a blue squirrel, oh no yiss, yiss."
By the time they had gotten out of the woods there where several black feathered copses and Raxannas blade was stained with blood. Ringtail and Dragut where still running and the Crows lurked on the edge of the forest Watching her. She stared back with her strange gold eyes boring deep into there minds challenging them and each in turn lost nerve and backed off threw the trees.
After the last on had left Raxanna call the two cowered back. and with a lot of scolding and several slaps with the flat of her blade got them some what back into shape. They had to now walk around the forest there was not other way.
OOC: Ah....Well, I suppose the Quest needs a beast like that....
OOC: There are no Player Character At Redwall at the moment so you might as well make a NP character to let you in.
OOC: Yeah, just kinda hoping someone else would. Maybe I should've been more up front about it. It isn't any fun RPing with yourself. Know what I mean?
BIC: Tarra woke, bleary-eyed, at the shouts. Grumbling, she slid from the gatehouse bed and wrapped her warm blanket around her, and headed out into the cold night.
As she shuffled through the snow, she hid a smile as she realized she was becoming like the old fogeys she would laugh at in her youth. The badger mother of Redwall reached the gate the shouts had come from, "State your name and purpose!" She growled.
"I just did, m'dear chapess!" The bright voice of a hare came from outside, "Clark of the east forests, currently freezing his bally ears off, wot!"
Tarra swung open the gate and glowered at the hare, "Back straight, eyes front, pay respect!"
Clark made no move to snap to attention, "I'd rather, marm, to warm me old footpaws and line my flippin' stomach." He said cheekily.
Tarra huffed, "Don't make them polite like they used to. Come on in, then."
OOC: Oh, and is there a champion/the location of Martin's Sword known? Just wondering.
Marshall saw a HUGE eagle, bigger than RaveBeak, flying towards the cave. He had no idea what to do. Finally, the bird landed.
''Are you Marshall the Fox?''
''Y-yes sir.''
''Well, I am GoldFeather StrongClaw. I am here you fly you to the Abbey of Red.''
''Alrighty then, but where is RaveBeak?''
''He is fixing my sister's Broken wing. He is a good healer. Nevermind that, hop on my back, but don't hold on to tight, got it?''
''Yes Sir!''
Marshall hoped on his back and grabbed his golden feathers.
''Hold on now. Here, We, GOOO!!''
KKKKAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
The Mara's jaw dropped as he saw a huge owl land on Arya. He stood stunned for a moment, then sprung into action, jumping on the Owl's back. Hanging on as well as he could with paw, he attempted to draw his sword with the other. He almost did manage it, but the sword was knocked out of his grip by the Owl's flailing wing. Tauten hoped that, at the very least, he had managed to get the Owl off of Arya.
OOC: Ah....Well, I suppose the Quest needs a beast like that....
OOC: But he's about to get a whole lot worse. ;)
BIC: Toka frowned as he followed the vole inside, "I'm not blue."
The vole turned round, and chuckled, "Your quite blue, yiss yiss. Been out in snow too long, yiss yiss. Why you be so silly to travel in a blizzard like this, yiss yiss?"
"I had no choice," Toka growled, as he seated himself by the fire, "I escaped from a vermin castle, and was forced to run."
Just then a female vole, in a dressing gown, walked into the room yawning. She heard what Toka said, and stared, "You mean you walked all the way from the vermin castle up yonder. That's getting on for three miles! How didn't ya freeze, yiss yiss."
Toka shrugged, but that hurt, a vermin had got him with a sword, and had cut his shoulder. "I don't know."
The male vole suddenly realised that they hadn't introduced themselves, "Oh yiss, I could I forget to tell you my own name! I'm Budet, and this be my wife Gogop."
"Toka." Toka said without turning his head.
"I bet you be hungry, I'll go get you some soup, Budet, heat some water. Mr. Toka will want a hot bath after being outside for so long, yiss yiss."
"Alright, yiss, yiss." Budet, said going to fetch a bucket, and some snow.
Toka found himself alone, by the fire. He looked around, there was a nice looking black cloak hanging by the door, along with a scarf, and gloves.
It'd be nice to have something like them, while traveling in such weather. He mused, then he had an idea.
----------------------
Perry had fallen asleep by the fire, he had eaten all the food, then curled up. Cara walked into the room, and found him snoring gently.
OCC: I heard that tranquillizers take time to work on reptiles, so I decided to put this...
BIC:Askar speared a Rudd on one of the claws which gave him his feared title.'Askar the clawed one' they called him.He was sitting down to eat when a rustle came from the bushes.Out of it appeared a deadly blowpipe with a loaded dart poking out of the tip.It shot that very moment and lodged itself in his neck, only to emit a throbbing pain from the wound."Poisoned"muttered Askar,whose voice was something between a growl and a hiss, and he staked calmly over to the bush.He jabbed his meatal hand into the bush and was rewarded by a scream,of which was husky and surprised.He hauled up a ferret to face his eyes. He was two heads taller than his adversary,and took the whimpering beast to be no immediate threat.he then heard a rustle from the willow nearby and was,at a moment's glance surrounded by ferrets and stoats.Only now did his temper snap.He threw himself,with a roar, at the many vermin surrounding him.His bloodwrath rage soon mean he decimated their numbers.Only then, much to the amusement of the enemy, did he start to feel sleepy and was soon dropping to the floor.Askar the clawed one had been captured!!!! >:( >:( >:(
Aa gave a gasp when Tauten hopped onto the owl, giving her the weight of both. Then, a sword went flying, and the owl flopped off, glaring at her. "What did you do to my owlet?!?!?!" She hooted, then put a claw to her neck. "You! Answer me, or this one dies!" She snapped at Tauten, pressing slightly, drawing a drop of blood.
"Us?" said Tauten, slightly out of breath. "I didn't do anything. Her, I don't now about, though I'm fairly sure that she had no part in this either. Now, if you'd just let her go." The Mara attempted to pull Arya from the Owl's grip, though he was very unsuccessful.
The owl mum was getting delirious, and a delirious owl mum was quite dangerous. She pressed harder on Arya's neck after the Mara had tried to get her off. Arya gasped out, "I don't know! I just saw it, and ran into him!" She gestured at Tauten, and the owlmum looked closer at her. "You're very young, aren't you?" She said, her motherly side getting in the way. Then she hooted again, "Well, that's no excuse!"
Toka was feeling better, he had had four mugs of vegetable soup, a hot bath, and was now in a warm bed. Toka didn't like beds though, he felt trapped, and could never get comfortable in them. But he was so tired that he was soon dozing, but not fully asleep. He waited till he was sure the voles were asleep, then got out of bed, but his jacket, and boots on, he hadn't taken any of his other clothes off. He then sneaked out of the room, then went in search of a haversack. He found one in the kitchen, the he loaded up the haversack with traveling food, then went around the voles home, taking things which he'd be able to trade, or sell. Then, Toka donned the cloak, scarf, the gloves were a little too small, and Toka had to cut the ends off, so they were now fingerless gloves. Then, he opened the door, and left.
It was still snowing steadily, and the snow covered Toka's tracks. Toka smiled, fools, they should have never trusted him.
Kaijo Helmos was not built for the cold at all and he made it known to the world "Great seasons, it's freezing!" his wife Misak, a lynx rolled her eyes "I mean come on, it got cold in winter in Zelfar but this is FREEZING!"
"It's nothing compared to the North, stop complaining!"
"If I die of cold, avenge my death!"
"How exactly?"
"I don't know, I hadn't thought that far ahead" Misak punched her husband on the shoulder
"You're such a goon!" She came to a halt "Ah, so here's the beech riven by swords"
Kaijo wasn't looking where he was going, head down to shield it from the cold, he snapped it upward to look at the beech in question and tripped over a root. Kaijo landed face first in the snow and leaped to his feet "What you mean from that riddle? What was it the blasted thing said?" Misak had committed the contents of the riddle to memory "Go West, and beware the mighty beech riven by swords
Beware the criss-crossed cords
Go to the redstone house,
Look for a certain mouse,
You'll find others there with answers."
Kaijo blinked "We're supposed to beware a tree?"
"Perhaps it means to be aware of it, maybe from here we stop going west?"
"And how exactly do we know where to go?"
"Look for the criss-crossed cords?" A spear buried itself in the tree above Misak's head. The lynx whipped out her crossbow and fired it in the direction the spear had come from, she was rewarded with a yelp of pain. Kaijo drew his sword "Maybe we were supposed to beware the tree!" They were surrounded by primitively dressed vermin.
Toka trudged on, he looked up at the sky. The first rays of dawn were piercing the sky. Toka sighed, maybe he should find somewhere to sleep. He hadn't slept for ages, he only dozed when at the voles. So he set about finding a suitable spot to catch a few hours rest.
--------------------
Perry woke with a start, where was he? What had happened? Then he remembered the nights events. He yawned, and sat up, he looked at the fire, which was nought, but ashes now. How early was it?
OCC:Can Bastun Firebreather meet Perry?? ;D ;D
OOC: It depends what direction he's coming from. If Bastun coming up rom the south-west, then he bound to run into Perry. But then again, they might met in the woods, on their way to the Abbey.
Oh, I'm getting so excited about everyone meeting up later! ;D
BIC: Toka lay, trying to go to sleep, in a hollow, high up in an oak tree. The reason he couldn't get to sleep was because, that every time someone, or something came into his hearing ranch, he was instantly wake, and active, holding up his sword.
Every time this happened, Toka swore, and cursed himself. He was just to alert, it was impossible to get to sleep.
Toka tried to get to sleep for a few more minutes, but then gave up. He got out of the tree, and set off again, he didn't mind traveling in the dark, it had stopped snowing as well. His keen eyesight had never failed him.
As he continued his way through the quiet forest, he noticed the sun beginning to rise properly. It would be fully light soon.
---------------
Perry got up, and went over to the window, the sun was just rising. Perry sat looking out of the window, the snow had a certain beauty when you weren't out in it.
Arnath Walked threw the snow she new the forest well and the blind mouse had no trouble avoiding The trees. She stopped and turned her face to the rising sun and she could feel its warmth on her face. She took in her paw a piece of mettle and ran her paw over it fallowing the lines carved into it. She had committed to memory, the pattern which the shapes made, yet she still could not make out what they meant. She heard the sound of a strangers foot steps (A squirrel) and quickly put the metal piece in her pocket.
Toka was not really paying any attention to what was going on, when he heard something, instantly hi sword was in his paw. There were multiple creatures coming towards him, four of them in a group, and one alone.
Toka looked around, searching, he saw a group of foxes, and in the distance, a mouse.
OOC: I'm in need of a proper battle. ::)
Wait no it was not just one creature but several, vermin buy the sound of it. She began to paint a picture in her head. A lone squirrel and about five vermin and she was between them.
The foxes had seen him, Toka dived behind a tree, just before two arrows hit the ground where he had been.
Toka then ran out, and charged the foxes, almost falling over the mouse. e ran at the shouting, "I hope hell has it's gates open!"
Toka killed the first fox easily, he had been fumbling for his sword, he hadn't expected the squirrel to attack. The second fox was ready though, and steel hit steel. A third fox was aiming at Toka with his bow, Toka just ducked in time for the arrow to hit the fox he had been fighting. The fourth fox came at him, this one seemed to be the leader. He was bigger, more skilled.
The fox sliced his sword across Toka's sword arm, Toka was forced to swop, but this didn't hinder his sword play. He could use either paw, he was ambidextrous. It was just then, Toka felt a terrible pain in his side, he had forgotten about the third fox, and an arrow was now sticking out of his side.
OOC: Looks like I'll have a healing job to do when this is over.
BIC: Arnath heard the sound of arrows leaving a bow and doped to the ground and covered her head with her arms. The Squirrel was charging and... the Sounds became confused in battle and she could not make out what was happening. All she knew was she was frightened.
Toka saw another arrow being fired, he ducked again, but not in time, the arrow cut into his shoulder, before to hit the big fox in his shoulder. Toka on the ground in pain, sliced at the foxes legs.
Arnath tried to find a better cover and an arrow landed near her foot paws. She reached out and her paw touched the bark of a tree. She dove behind it just in time as another arrow landed in the tree.
"Yes, you're absolutely right, that is no excuse. However, I'm on a journey, and I've been traveling for days," began the Mara, easily spinning the parts of a story he needed to get them out of this. "The thing is, she's my guide, and I really do need her. So, if you'd just let me take her and go." Tauten again tried to pull Arya away.
Marshall had been flying all night. They had stopped at a few places, but could see the sun rising in the distance.
''How long do you think it will take until we reach the Abbey?''
''I am not taking you to the Abbey. I am taking you near that area. We will arrive some time near noon. But until then, be quite and hold on.''
''Alrighty sir!''
The fox went down, and Toka spun round on his knees, drawing his dagger at the same time, and quickly got into blade throwing position. He held the steel of the dagger, and then flicked his hand, then dagger took the bow fox in the heart. Toka was still spinning, and ended up facing the fox, and Toka stabbed down with his sword, right into the foxes stomach. The fox gasped, Toka then cruelly began to shove his sword around. Cutting open the foxes stomach, so that his innards spilled out.
Toka stood up, he'd forgotten about the arrow, but after he took a few steps he collapsed. He lay in the snow, coming down from his battle high.
His breathing became rapid, he tried to think what to do. Should he take the arrow out? No, he had to put pressure on the wound until help was found. He would have to snap the shaft, then tie his scarf round his middle.
Toka reached down, and tried to snap the shaft, but recoiled in agony. He looked at his paw, it was stained scarlet. The snow around him was slowly turning crimson with his blood.
OOC: Rachel Do you think you could be a tad less descriptive. You can have the same thing happen but just cut out the gory part. For example you can still say that Toka turned the blade in the wound and ... (The fox screamed out in agony) You don't need to describe all the blood and gore to know that it is there. Let the reader make that desertion on there own. :P
BIC: The noises stopped and Arnath slowly got up she could hear the sound or a single beast. But was it the Squirrel or a fox? "Who's there?" She asked
OOC: Sorry, got carried away. And it's Toka, there's no L. :-X
BIC: Toka heard a voice, he'd forgotten about the mouse. He groaned, and rolled onto his side, the side that didn't have a narrow sticking out of it, and looked around. He couldn't see anyone, no he could make something out. There was someone behind a tree. Why didn't they just look to see who it was? "Why don't you look for yourself mouse!" Toka spat.
She bit her lip Who ever he was he sounded in pain. Without answering his question She stepped out from behind the tree and came forward Stepping in to full view.
"Are you injured?" She asked coming even closer.
Toka couldn't believe what he was hearing. He had a narrow sticking in him, and was covered in blood, "Are you blind or stupid." He snarled, rolling onto his back with a groan.
"Try the first one..." She said she was pretty sure it was the squirrel now she knelt in the snow by his side and said "I can help I know a bit about medicine," She opened the flap of her satchel.
Toka swore, just his luck to be injured, and only have a blind mousemaid to care for him. "I don't need your help, I'm fine." He growled, trying to pull himself into a sitting position.
"No you are not! I may be blind but am a very good healer If you need proof then I'll tell you this. You are a squirrel of about 24 seasons and you are from the North east tribes. Now I can't touch you because I don't want to heart you so explain to me how bad it is," (OOC: Don't get to detailed.)
OOC: :D
BIC: Toka was surprised, but he tried not to show it. He thought about telling the mousemaid to get stuffed, and leave him alone, but although he hated the idea of it, he needed her help. He wasn't going to die, so he would just have to let her do what she wanted. "I've got an arrow just below my rib on the left side. There's also some minor wounds on my arms, and chest, also some wounds I received from earlier tonight have reopened."
"OK.. Im sorry this might Hurt. She said I'll try and be as careful as I can," She snapped off the arrow shaft and was surprisingly gentle about it. She then dug in the snow till she hit earth and mixing it with snow made mud which along with herbs from her bag she applied to the wound around the arrow stub to stop the bleeding. She treated some of the other worse wounds binding them up and then She returned to the arrow wound. (OOC: I Know very little about healing in reality except the stuff I read in books so I will just skip that) When she had finished the arrow had been removed and The squirrel had been bandaged up. The arrow was a nasty thing although not poison. She then realized that she did not know his name and she had not told him hers. "I'm sorry I never told you my name. I am Arnath,"
OOC: Han? Could you please get on?
OOC: I've been waiting for your post... :-\
OOC: I DID post! Oh wait, you posted awhile ago! AH!
"Yes, you're absolutely right, that is no excuse. However, I'm on a journey, and I've been traveling for days," began the Mara, easily spinning the parts of a story he needed to get them out of this. "The thing is, she's my guide, and I really do need her. So, if you'd just let me take her and go." Tauten again tried to pull Arya away.
BIC:The owl merely moved her foot up a little bit more, and pressed. Arya started making the awful, choking, spluttering, coughing sound. She couldn't breath! The owl mum was using the pad of her foot to put pressure on the squirrelmaid's wind pipe, and then she flapped her wings, meaning to buffet the Mara with them, and also making her just a little off balance.
OOC: It depends what direction he's coming from. If Bastun coming up rom the south-west, then he bound to run into Perry. But then again, they might met in the woods, on their way to the Abbey.
Oh, I'm getting so excited about everyone meeting up later! ;D
BIC: Toka lay, trying to go to sleep, in a hollow, high up in an oak tree. The reason he couldn't get to sleep was because, that every time someone, or something came into his hearing ranch, he was instantly wake, and active, holding up his sword.
Every time this happened, Toka swore, and cursed himself. He was just to alert, it was impossible to get to sleep.
Toka tried to get to sleep for a few more minutes, but then gave up. He got out of the tree, and set off again, he didn't mind traveling in the dark, it had stopped snowing as well. His keen eyesight had never failed him.
As he continued his way through the quiet forest, he noticed the sun beginning to rise properly. It would be fully light soon.
---------------
Perry got up, and went over to the window, the sun was just rising. Perry sat looking out of the window, the snow had a certain beauty when you weren't out in it.
Yes, Bastun is in the woods travelling north!!! Can they meet up soon?? :D :D :D :D
OOC: I'm gonna have Perry in the woods now. Also, you need to post as your other character.
BIC: Toka had gritted his teeth while the mouse worked, although it hurt like hell he didn't want her to think he was weak.
"I'm sorry I never told you my name. I am Arnath,"
"Good for you." Toka snarled, sitting up. A sudden rush of pain surged through his entire body, Toka swore, and flopped back down in the snow.
------------------------
Perry breathed in the fresh, early morning winter air. He was glad to be on the move again, though he had been said to bid the Downyspikes goodbye. Cara had made him a warm jacket, and cloak, and had given him a new pair of boots, and a pair of gloves.
Perry heaved the very full haversack more comfortably onto his back. It had all kinds of wonderful traveling foods in it, he almost couldn't wait for it to be time for lunch.
"Oh Don't move you need to rest!" She said making a motion as if to push him back down with out actually touching him. She stood up and said "I'll make a fire," She started off to look for branches. She was back surprisingly soon with an arm full of mostly dry branches. She put them down and dug a patch in the snow to the bare ground where she built the fire. Soon a nice little fire was burning.
Despite the warmth of the fire, Toka was shivering, his teeth began to chatter. He had lost a lot of blood earlier, and now some more. He felt faint, and cold, very cold. Breathing became an effort, just staying awake was hard.
Arnath tried to build up the fire and she took something from her satchel. A kind of root. "Here eat this it will put fire in your blood and help you to stay warm," She said handing him the root.
Toka wrinkled his nose at the root, "What's this?" Even though he was freezing, he was also as stubborn as ever.
"It will help keep you warm, be grateful it is rare and hard to get a traveler gave it to me, You only need a little bit" She said.
Toka nibbled the end of it, at least it tasted nice, he guessed he better tell Arnath his name, since he hadn't yet. "My name's Toka the...." He stopped himself ending the sentence, he didn't want her to know what kind of a creature he was, not yet anyway. The title of Toka the Savage, Son of Darkness, and Fire, just might make her suspicious.
OOC: Haaaaannnn......Getting on would be nice, OK?
"Nice to meet you Toka. I must say thank you. Those foxes have plagued the area for some time," She said sitting herself down by the fire trying to get warm as well.
***
Raxanna had finally circled the forest with out further incident. the sun was rising and she could see a castle rising up from the hills of snow. A place where they just might find what they wanted...
OOC: "Area" No I, it's an E.
"It was nothing much, they asked for death to come to them." Toka shrugged, shifting closer to the fire.
OOC: Toka is being almost friendly ;D
BIC: Arnath Scooted closer to the fire and taking the root back she took a small bite of it before putting it away.
OOC: He's not feeling well, just wait for him to get better. ;)
BIC: Toka felt his eyelid's begin to droop, he hadn't slept for ages. Before he knew it, he had slipped into a very deep sleep. His over active senses mercifully shut down slightly.
Now Toka didn't know this, but when he was really deeply asleep, he talked, about anything that was going on in his mind. He was talking now, "Must get to Redwall, treasure.......the writing.....no, no, not water. No, the ice, where's the hole, get me out, the ice! I can't swim, I can't swim! GET ME OUT!"
Toka was tossing, and turning, obviously reliving a memory.
Arnath listened puzzled Redwall? treasure? Then he started to thrash around she went over and tried to calm him down "Calm do its OK I'll help you," Hoping that if he could hear her it would affect his dream.
Toka stopped thrashing about, then whispered, his voice like silk, "The Black Treasure....that's what the rat said, the black treasure...." Then he was silent.
Black treasure she thought... that was odd? She went back to her place by the fire after stoking it she curled up and tried to rest as well but her mind was occupied by what Toka had said.
Perry's good spirit was dwindling some what, trudging through snow got very boring after a while, and he seemed to be making no progress. Everything just looked the same.
------------------
Toka slowly began to wake, he didn't remember his dream, he didn't even remember going to sleep. He looked around him, Arnath seemed to be asleep. Toka thought that maybe he could go get his haversack, take some of her valuables, and make a run for it, but when he tried to stand up, he gasped in pain, he could never run like this. Toka sat back down again, nursing his side.
Askar groaned.It was apparent that he was not on the streambank,in fact he was someplace utterly different.It was a shelter made of several trees leaning over a lage stone outcrop,of which had various filth scattered about it in the most horrid places,and he was tied to the point of it!!! :o
Arnath sat up abruptly at the sound of his pain and said "Are you ok? I should redress your wounds," She said. She took a bottle and filed it with snow and placed it by the fire then after getting more wood and bringing it back to life she turned back to Toka.
Toka was furious, he just wanted to get on the move! But this darn wound was just agony! Toka bit his lip until it began to bleed, something he did when frustrated.
OOC: What'd I miss?
She removed the bandage and cleaned the wound with the hot water to sterilize it. Then after adding some more herbs she bandaged it back up with clean bandages. "There that should help," She said.
OOC: What'd I miss?
OOC: Ur, not much. Toka is injured, and is being cared for by Arnath. Askar is....I'm not too sure, Perry is walking through snow, and that's all....I think. 8)
@Willtruth, um, can your hedgehog guy met up with Perry soon. Cos if not, I would like to get him to the Abbey, cos W0Nwill is waiting for someone else to arrive, and I do think we need to speed the getting to the abbey part along. We've still got the entire quest!
BIC: Toka looked at Arnath, she was so trusting, she hadn't questioned him once.
OOC: Don't mistake trusting for being naive. (She would know right away if he was lying) ;)
BIC: Arnath Then took some bread out of her satchel and split it with him. "I know a nice little vole family that lives near by. We could go there"
Toka's eyes widened, he was pretty sure which vole family she was talking about, and he couldn't go back there.
"You can if you want. I don't have time to go visiting voles. I've got to be on my way."
Toka stood up, and this time the pain in his side wasn't so bad. It wasn't gone, but it was bearable.
"Are you sure you are felling better?" She asked unsure. it was in the opposite direction from where he was headed... She brushed it off.
"Yep, I'll be fine to travel to the Abbey." Toka suddenly stopped himself. Why had he told her that? Now she would become suspicious. She would start to ask questions.
"The abbey you mean Redwall?" She had heard tell of a place called Redwall abbey and Toka had said something about Redwall in his sleep. Then she recalled the strange mouse. Every night a strange mouse would come and sit by her bed. she never felt afraid though. He would sit there quietly for a wile then he would lean over and whisper in her ear "find the place called Redwall" Then he would just disappear he would be gone. without a sound or any sigh that he had left. She had forgotten these visits till just now.
"Yes, you're absolutely right, that is no excuse. However, I'm on a journey, and I've been traveling for days," began the Mara, easily spinning the parts of a story he needed to get them out of this. "The thing is, she's my guide, and I really do need her. So, if you'd just let me take her and go." Tauten again tried to pull Arya away.
BIC:The owl merely moved her foot up a little bit more, and pressed. Arya started making the awful, choking, spluttering, coughing sound. She couldn't breath! The owl mum was using the pad of her foot to put pressure on the squirrelmaid's wind pipe, and then she flapped her wings, meaning to buffet the Mara with them, and also making her just a little off balance.
Tauten was forced to retreat a few feet, in order to avoid the Owl mum's thrashing wings. As the Mara stumbled back, he saw that the Owl mum was off balance. Realizing he had an opening, Tauten dived in, swinging his paw at the Owl's legs, and grimacing at the strength of the Owl's wings. She had hit him in numerous places, and each one would certainly hurt in the morning.
OOC: Um, Faiy, how can anyone diaper? You mean Disappear?
BIC: The owl mum toppled over, and Arya scrambled backwards towards a tree, and leaned against it. She loosened her sword in it's sheath with one paw and massaged her throat with the other, gulping in air. The owl ran at her and jumped, meaning to squish her underneath. Fortunately (Or unfortunately, if you were the owl) she leaped too late, and crashed into the tree, stunning herself, and flopping onto her target. Arya gently pushed her off, and, as a reflex, shot up the tree. Most things can't climb trees, so that was her reflex. Then she came down a moment later, blushing slightly. "Thank you." She said, looking at Tauten, then eying the bird that was crashed at her feet. "Poor thing," She sighed, with a sympathetic look on her face.
Tauten sat, holding his head in his hands, cringing at the pain in his head. The Mara didn't react at all to Arya's thanks, but sat for a few more moments before getting up. "That Owl really packed a punch," he remarked to Arya, then found that he couldn't hear himself, so he must have thought it without realizing that he didn't say it. "THAT OWL REALLY PACKED A PUNCH!" He shouted, though to him it sounded like he was talking normally.
"Um....maybe....." Toka couldn't think of anything convincing to say, so he just grabbed his haversack, and set off.
"That is where I was going too," She said feeling a strong urge to go there as well.
"Good for you." Toka snarled. He didn't want her to offer to travel with him, so he set off quickly, wanting to put as much distance between himself, and Arnath. Toka gritted his teeth, and tried to ignored the throbbing pain in his side, it hurt every time he took a step.
Arnath noticed the tension in his voice and realized he did not want to travil with her "You can go alone. You are still hurt," She said still fallowing him Trying her best to keep up and fallowing his path quite accurately. She had an excellent memory and was able to reproduce the exact path he fallowed in her mind.
Toka speeded his pace, trying to leave the Arnath behind. But this only caused him more pain, and he had to stop.
Toka leaned against a tree, and massaged his side, he hoped it would get better soon.
"You're going to hurt yourself you need to take it easy," Arnath said "Any way I know this part of the woods better than any one alive. I could find my way in the dark," She joked. "I know a short cut. if we go the way you are going it will take twice as long,"
"I don't need any help, or advice from you." Toka growled, and stubbornly continued the way he had been going. But he couldn't help gasping a few times, oh his side hurt!
"I won't tell you I warned you but that old raven that lives up that way wont be to happy to see you. The old foggy, he's so secluded and protective. He hates strangers can't stand them, and he might be old but his claws are still as sharp as ever... I was hoping to avoid him but if you insist we will take the long way. I might be able to appease him with some ointment I have been bringing him his wing has been bothering him the poor thing," She said She then went on to tell of when the vole family had first moved in he had almost killed the pare of them. They had called him some bad names. "If it wasn't for the ravens wife that would have been the end of them but she convinced him to leave them alone. She died three years back though poor thing she was a nice bird..."
Toka wasn't paying any attention to what Arnath was saying, he just concentrated on not swearing, and falling over.
She soon realized that he wasn't listening and stopped talking. She sighed and fallowed him in silence. She began to debate weather Toka or old Mr. Raven was more of a stick in the mud.
A weasel swung a flint axe, Kaijo caught it on his sword blade and pushed, sending the weasel flying back onto the spear of a scraggly-furred rat. The rat threw the spear to the side and dived on the caracal. The two beasts fell to the floor, Kaijo slugged the rat in the face, the rat bit Kaijo's neck, Kaijo threw the rat off him and stabbed him through the chest with a fallen spear. There was an anguished scream and Kaijo turned to see a female rat swinging at his neck with his own sword, he threw up an arm to defend himself and she scored a terrible gash, Kaijo cursed loudly
"Don't swear!" Came Misak's voice somewhere to the left of him
"You are not my mother!" The caracal kicked the rat in the unmentionables and she doubled over in pain, allowing him to knock her to the floor with a devastating uppercut, he picked up the sword and stabbed her through the throat before she could recover.
Misak, meanwhile, was also having problems. She ducked under the swing of a club held by a large stoat and kicked him in the stomach, it didn't seem to do much damage until she extended her claws. The stoat howled and she leaped on him, raking at his face with her foreclaws. With great effort he pulled her off and threw her, sending her crashing into a tree. She stood up, whipped the dirk from the strap on her leg and slashed him across the throat as he came charging towards her. The lynx flipped the dirk into a reverse grip and scored a terrible blow across the chest of a fox that came charging towards her.
The two cats had been forced together, their backs to the bushes. Two vermin snuck up behind them and whacked them over the heads with the butts of their spears, they went down like fallen trees.
OOC: Sorry! Been out and about, sort of.
BIC: Arya looked at Tauten oddly. "Why are you shouting? I heard you quite clearly the first time." She said, then realized. The owlmum had knocked his hearing about when she hit him on the head. She sighed. "DO YOU TRUST ME TO FIX YOURS EARS? OTHERWISE WE'LL HAVE TO SHOUT!" She bellowed, hoping he'd say yes.
Toka kept on going until he heard faint cawing sounds. Crows? He listened harder, No, ravens. Defiantly ravens. No, it was just one raven. It sounded in pain.
----------------------
Perry was becoming discouraged, he felt like he had been tramping through snow for years. He was about to give up for the day, and find some place to camp, when he heard the bonging sound of distant bells. He remembered that Cara had told him at breakfast that there were bells at Redwall Abbey; and that when he heard the sound of bells, that would mean he was close.
Redwall Abbey, here I come. Perry smiled, and set off with new enthusiasm.
Raxanna walked past several small huts and saw creatures cowering in windows trying to see with out being seen. She would glower in there direction and then they would disappear. A young arctic Hare poked her head out of a door and watched them pass. Raxanna looked at every thing down the bridge of her nose in contempt. From the looks of things the land was ruled by a strong war lord and that was good. She could keep up an act of friendship for long enough to take the very goblets from under there noses and be gone be for they knew what had happened. By the looks of things he was probably fat and lazy to lazy letting his grip on the land slip allowing to much leeway yet just enough fear to keep him self comfortable. The fool would soon learn.
***
Arnath heard the cry of the raven and knew there would be trouble. He sounded particularly angry to day and in pain but not like normal... her thoughts world around in her head something was off something had happened then she remembered the foxed they had come from here. Had they injured the old raven? From what she could tell he was flying low and without grace. Perhaps it had been his wing?
OOC: Oh boy.....Han? Haan? Well, at least I have time to set up some plans. ;D
Toka saw an old raven coming his way. He looked like he was about to plummet to the ground.
"Rick's my fears? I don't anyone named Rick, and he doesn't sound very menacing. Anyway, what's he got to do with the Owl? Also, I've got a terrible headache, and everything looks a little fuzzy." Tauten shouted, looking a bit annoyed at Arya's "nonsense".
Arya groaned, out her head in one of her paws, and shook her head. Then she walked up to the Mara, scrteamed into one of his ears, "I'M GOING TO FIX YOUR EARS! PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!!" Then she put her paws on his ears, drew them back, then slammed her paws onto his ears. Hopefully, it would work, and if not, there was always boiling water. Which usually only worked half the time, and gave the victim some very burnt eardrums.
OOC: Our Ears? Last I checked, Tauten and Arya were different characters. ;)
BIC: "Ow!!!" shouted Tauten when Arya yelled in his ears. Then another "Ow" when she smashed her paws into his head. "I get that you wanted to fix my ears, but was that necessary?" he said, stepping backwards, clutching his head. "And now my headaches even worse."
Raxanna approached the front gate of the castle. She noted that the wall tops where empty and that she could hear the faint sound of singing coming from inside. She told Ringtail and Dragut to stay out side before she knocked on the door. After several minutes it creaked open a crack and and wizened old face peeked out He looked her up and down and Raxanna returned the gaze with contempt. He mumbled something comprehensible to himself and opened the door. He was bent over and carried a rusty dimly lit lantern that shed hardly any light at all. He wore a floppy cap that slid almost all the way down to his dirty spectacles and his cloths where unkempt and threadbare. All of this She took in at a glance.
"I demand an audience with the king of this land!" She said in a commanding voice.
"no on.. ov on nbl... brth may sck odnce wiv his..." he mumbled threw toothless gums.
"Silence you fool!" Raxanna cried her strang gold colored eyes glowing with a flame of rage and fury" I am the Lady Raxanna of the high north, The great eagle slayer, The golden one, Commander of winds, and the knower of all thoughts! even your own worthless ones so let me pass or I will kill you where you sand and do so anyway," The pitiful creature backed up shaking his eyes wide bowing and nodding his head but unable to say anything. Raxanna stroked past without another glance, steeping on his tail in the process. The courtyard was empty and unkempt yet had a look of past gander about it the pillars and status where crumbling and covered in snow and dead weeds. There was no sight of any beast anywhere but the sound of revelry could be heard from with in.
***
Arnath Heard the sound of the Raven and called out "Karag! are you hurt?" She heard the raven call out in pain and anger and frustration and then he was on top of them things got muddled and she was unsure of what was going on "You come back! how dare you come back here!" he screeched!
Toka yelled out in pain as the raven hit into him, his side felt like it had just had a red hot iron tied to it. He punched out, and drew his dagger, ready to stab, and was in the process of drawing his sword.
Arnath fell back and called out "Karag! Karag! It is me Arnath!" He paused for a moment eyeing Toka and said "Who's him den?"
"He is a friend,"
"He carry weapon me not like weapon,"
Toka's eyes seemed to begin to glow, the amber irises alight. He hadn't really heard what the raven, and Arnath had said, he was just getting ready for the kill. He had drawn his sword, and held his dagger on the blade, ready to throw.
Karag Cawed and dove at Toka shrieking and yelling "You trick me! Lie! KILL!!!"
"Toka!" Arnath cried and fell to the ground covering her head to avoid the beating wings and claws.
Toka threw the dagger, it hit the raven right in the heart. It went right up to the hilt, Toka walked over, and pulled it out. He then wiped it off on the dead ravens carcass. His eyes slowly stopped glowing, and he came down from his battle high. He looked at the dead raven as if for the first time, "Stupid bird." He spat.
Arnath got up slowly "You... you killed him," She said a naught growing in her throat.
"So.....?" Toka shrugged, then put his swords back in their sheaths, "It was him or me. I chose the obvious."
"No it wan't, It could have been avoided," She said in a wavering voice threw clenched teeth. She picked up her walking stick and went over to the raven lying in the snow and placed a paw on his old beak. "HE was always a warrior at heart... I think deep down h wanted to die fighting..." She said quietly "But not for no reason," She said loudly turning to face Toka .
***
Raxanna entered the main hall slamming the double doors open as she did so. The room went silent and every one turned to look at her. At the end of the long table sat a fat weasel slouched in a large overly decorated chair a goblet in one paw and a bird wing in another. No one moved and Raxanna watched him from across the table and he watched back they stood like this for what seemed like an eternity no one daring to make a sound. Then he spoke quietly and almost unconcerned letting his words draw out "Who are you?"
OOC: Fixed it. :)
BIC: Arya sighed, "Well, I'm sorry, but it was necessary. Unless you wanted to attract unwanted, hostile attention by shouting. Here, this will help your headache." She said, then handed him an herb to chew.
Toka ignored Arnath, and turned to leave, but now that his battle high was gone, the pain that the raven coursed in his side returned. He groaned, and swore, kneeling in the snow.
"Serves you right," Arnath said walking past him expertly avoiding trees with out even using her walking stick.
"I am the Lady Raxanna of the high north, The great eagle slayer, The golden one, Commander of winds, and the knower of all thoughts," She said in a silky even tone staring steadily at the weasel not even blinking. Then she added "You may have heard of me..." A slow smile grew hidden beneath the golden mask. She walked slowly around the table. guards finally placed themselves in front of the throne. She came to the first guarded and staring into his eyes she said in an almost lulling sweet voice "Oh look a boy pretending to be a solder, ran away from home because you couldn't stand it there... well run along back to your mother, But you can't she's dead, you killed her," The Young rats eyes grew wide and one thought crossed his mind She knows! "Yes I know," She said in reply then turning to the next one she said "Oh you are his most loyal follower, you'ed walk strait into hell gates if he asked you to... oh but you have a secret such a sweet secret, you love His daughter, but does she love you? and you..." She said to the next one a tall skinny fox "You despise him, your lord and master, you think you would make a better leader... You have had your eyes on his daughter for a long time you sly thing..." The fox panicked and ran for the door. Raxanna grabbed him expertly and flipped him on to his back pressing the tip of her dagger to his chin. The king and his daughter and both stood Raxanna looked to the king to give the command "KILL HIM!" he boomed. The fox started frantically to plead for his life but was cut short... Silence. Raxanna wiped her dagger on his sleeve and stood to face the king.
OOC: Urgh! Raxanna and Toka should get along well.
OOC: Either that or kill each other. ;D :P
Bastun Flamebreather saw something out there, but what was it?What ever it was he would be ready for it!!!
OCC: Can he meet perry now, just been to London and will update on Askar in next post!! ;D ;D
OOC: @Willtruth sure.
I'm kind of excited about when Toka meets up with Raxanna.
BIC: Toka groaned, then pulled himself to his feet. He leaned against a tree for a minute, then looked after Arnath. Yeah is she going the same way as me?
--------------------
Perry could see the very tip of Redwall Abbey. His breathing became faster, and his pace quickened. Just then he heard something, he looked around, but saw nobody. Wait a sec, what was that?
Arnath stopped walking and sighed running a paw threw her head fur. She couldn't stay mad. If anything he had put the old bird out of his misery. She turned back and went over to help him.
***
"I like you," The king said laughing he went to slap her on the back but thought better of it and handed her a glass of whine instead. Raxanna noticed that his daughter, a pretty slender maid kept glancing curiously at the weasel Raxanna had said liked her and he kept looking away.
"I have a proposal to make," She said swilling the whine around in her glass.
Toka began to walk again, the pain wasn't too bad now, it was back to being just a throbbing ache.
Arnath could tell that he was still in pain and was just putting on a brave face. He was still walking with a limp but if he wanted to be left alone then she understood. "Do you still insist on going this way?" She asked.
"Yes." Toka said with difficulty, his face was a mask of concealed pain.
"Fine," She said and took a deep breath. He was impossible.
***
Raxanna sipped the whine " I have learned of the where abouts of a treasure of great value. I would like a score of men in exchange for one fourth of anything I find there," she said siting down in one of the chairs next to him.
When Kaijo came to, he was hanging upside down on a pole, his paws bound across the top of it "Well that's just brilliant" he muttered
"Finally awake eh? I was beginning to think they'd hit you too hard" He twisted his head to see Misak hanging on another pole alongside him. They came to a halt, in front of them was a great pit as if a giant creature had rended the land with its claws, across the entrance to the pit were a number of ropes crossed over each other in a complicated pattern. The vermin carrying them hefted the poles and threw them over the ropes. "What do you think they're doing?" asked Kaijo
"I don't know, maybe it has something to do with that giant snake over there"
Kaijo lifted his head and was consumed by fear, not ten paces away from them was a giant adder "SUCI IBU ALLAH APA NERAKA ADALAH BAHAWA? KAMI AKAN MATI! KITA SEMUA AKAN MATI! SAYA TIDAK BOLEH MATI SEPERTI INI! SAYA MEMPUNYAI HIDUP DEPAN PANJANG SAYA! SAYA PERLU HIDUP! SAYA TERLALU MUDA UNTUK MATI!"
"Calm the hell down!" Misak snapped "I'm almost free and those troglodytic vermin didn't bother to take our weapons!"
"WHAT USE IS A SWORD AND A CROSSBOW AGAINST A BLOODY ADDER?!?!?!"
"Let's find out" Misak freed herself, slashed through Kaijo's bonds and began firing bolt after bolt at the adder. Kaijo picked up his sword "Well if I'm going to die, I'm not going to die without a fight, have at thee beast!"
The hedgehog saw the figure before it saw him.He hid behind the stone, ready with his torch and the tinder stuck in his spikes.The creature halted for a second, and Bastun Flamebreather threw himself at the strange silhouetted figure!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Askar struggled against the point of rock.That was when he heard a voice come from beyond the trees.It was shrill and feminine, accompanied with gruff grunts of recognition."Now Tavarr, we cannot,simply cannot leave that poor fellow tied to that big rock!"The one called Tavarr replied, "well 'that poor fellow' you are talking about, dear, is a great hulking lizard that looks like he could do more harm than good!""Oh well now, we'll see about that!"And upon that the feminine voice stormed off straight through the trees and and greeted Askar."Well hello there sir!"
Perry yelped in surprise, and grabbed for his dagger, punching out at the creature who was attacking him.
------------------------
Toka coughed, and walked on. How long would it take for this darn wound to heal?
OOC No Han, I see....I do sometimes forget that other people aren't home schooled, and have less free time. :-\
Toka began to feel hungry, he hadn't eaten since he was at the voles. He looked in his haversack, and took out a raspberry scone, and some bank beer.
"Would you like to stop to eat?" Arnath said not changing pace or making any recognition that Toka had just taken out food yet she knew just the same.
"No, I can eat on the move." Toka growled, then took a bit of the scone.
"Fine" She said and continued to fallow him in silence.
***
"How do I know that you will come back?" The king said cautiously. Raxanna could see his yearning but the comfort of his home had made his wary.
"You would be able to pick out two of your most trusted men to keep me on track."
" Yes... You will have your men on the marrow in the mean time join me and dine,"
"It would be my pleasure," She said a sly smile growing beneath the mask.
OOC: Argh!!! Corn, I'm so sorry I haven't been on. I've just been so busy lately.
BIC: Tauten took the herb, and after a quick examination, popped it into his mouth and started chewing. "What were you doing out here, on your own. You seem a bit young to be an explorer, and you clearly aren't used to close range fighting."
OOC: Ok unrelated to this RP, but Han could you please take a look at the Winter To Freeze Your Heart OOC thread, I need to know if my new character is accepted or not. Ok, back to this RP....
BIC: Toka trudged on, when suddenly he heard the sound of running water. He felt his heart skip a beat, but then calmed himself. He was nowhere near the water, he was fine.
"So..." Arnath said hoping to start a conversation "Do you know anything about this Redwall?"
"No." Toka said flatly, jumping over a snow drift.
She sighed this wasn't working she lapsed into another awkward silence.
OOC: Faiyloe, do you want to jump them to being closer to Redwall, cos at the moment, not much seems to be happening.
OOC: We can make some thing happen... How about they come to the edge of the forest and come to a plane between them and the next stretch of forest... or may happens a storm can start up or... Oh I don't know just make it interesting.
OOC: A storm sounds good.
Arnath paused in thought. something was off... she sniffed the air and held up a paw. Then thoughtfully touched her nose. "There is a storm coming up," She said slowly in a matter of fact way. She was going to say that they should take cover but decided against it. He would most likely refuse if she said anything.
Toka too could feel the change, a storm was brewing, and might break soon. Forgetting about Arnath, and his wound, he turned, and began to climb a turn with a hollowed out bit some way up. He was reminded of his wound when he tried to climb, but gritted his teeth, and kept climbing. He reached the hollow in no time, and climbed in. It was a large enough space, and it would do to spend the duration of the storm in.
Arnath heard Toka Go up a tree she fallowed to the base but stopped. She could not Follow. She began to search for a shelter.
Toka took off his haversack, and searched through it, he eventually found a blanket, and some bread, and cheese. He wrapped the blanket round himself, and began to eat the bread, and cheese.
Arnath soon found a bush and piled up snow around it creating a wind breaker before climbing inside where she curled up. and wrapped her shawl around her self.
Arya started choking in her pawful of snow, which she'd been busily eating, her face turning red.
No! He can't know my age, or he'll...I dunno. But it's dangerous. He can't learn. absolutely not. She continued coughing, and not being able to think as her thoughts were whirling around in a panic, over her age. He couldn't know. It would be her undoing - When she got to Red wall, if this was a quest as she suspected, then she'd never get to go on it. Her face started turning purple.
OOC SORRY FOR NOT POSTING!!!
BIC Marshall had been wandering though the woods for some time. He kept walking, step after step. He was about to go to sleep, but looked up and saw the tip of the Abbey!
"IVE DONE IT! IVE MADE IT TO REDWALL!"
His paced quickened and he set off.
Tauten was laughing when he saw the Squirrelmaids expression. "No need to say, we all have secrets." Tauten chuckled. "I was just thinking that we should get to know each other if we're gonna be traveling together. As he talked he noticed that some snow was falling. "We should find shelter," he said, looking up. "This storm looks like it could get bad." Already the snow was falling fast, and the Mara was worried it would become a blizzard.
Arya finally found the sense to swallow a few times, and then gasped in a lung full of air, relieved. "Yes....This is going to be a bad one." Arya agreed, then started making a snow cave. It was their best bet at the moment, since building a shelter out of branches would take too long.
OOC: Willtruth could you post already!!!!!!!!
Arnath curled up into a tight ball the wind was beginning to nip around the bush and snow was flying every where. She hated storms they whipped the sound around till you lost all sense of direction, and you where all alone in a cold and empty place. She tried to cover her ears but to no avail. She wanted to call out but she new that no sound would get threw the wind. She wanted desperately for something solid to hold onto but there was nothing. Then suddenly there was some beast beside her. It was the strange mouse that visited her at night. He held her paw "Go with Toka to Redwall he needs you more than ever now," He said and strangely enough even though he did not raise his voice she could hear him perfectly.
Toka lay curled up in the hollow of the tree, snow blew in, and spun all around him. He put the food back in the haversack, and covered his head with the blanket.
Marshall made it to the main gate as the storm was bigger. He knocked furiously as snow was swirling around him.
KNOCK KNOCK
''ANYBEAST HOME! IM FREEZIN' OUT 'ERE! PLEASE LET MEH IN! IMA SIMMPLE TRAVLA!''
OOC: I'll PP a sister to let Marshall in....
BIC: Sister Anise heard someone knocking from her beloved gatehouse. "Who could that be, in this dreadful weather?" She wondered, then heard someone calling. She grabbed her cloak and hood and dashed out, then called, Hpold a moment, please!" She wrestled with the door, and finally got it open. She saw a fox standing there, and shrieked. "You're a fox!"
Toka was trying to fall asleep again, but his senses just wouldn't let him. He tossed, and turned, moaned, and groaned. "If only I had an off button." He growled, covering his ears.
The question dawned on Marshall. He did not know an answer.
''Um, Well marm, i have never killed a beast bafore. I, uh, well, ya see...''
The fight with the adder was long and hard, it was probably incredibly dramatic and exciting however we don't have time to go into it and the entire encounter can be boiled down to "shenanigans". After defeating the adder Kaijo and Misak had to run from a screaming horde of angry primitive vermin who seemed to worship the creature as a god and regularly offered sacrifice to it. They were chased in a south-westerly direction until we find them now, on the edge of a wide river surrounded by vermin.
A weasel launched himself at Kaijo, the caracal dodged back and speared him through the heart with his sword, lifting him into the air and slinging his carcass into the river to be swept away. Misak fired off a crossbow bolt, taking a rat through the stomach as she sliced open the throat of another with her dirk. A fox with a flail swung at Kaijo who leaped to the side and slashed through the chain, unwittingly knocking Misak into the river. The lynx shouted a stream of curses at her husband and flailed wildly as she was swept downstream. Quite by chance she managed to catch hold of the roots of a fallen tree which stretched out over a river.
OOC: Willtruth could you please post so I can use Perry?
OOC: Jet, that was incredibly funny! Seriously. Read over it! The first paragragh especially.....
BIC: Anise. gulped, "You're still a fox! How do I know you won't murder us all in our beds?" She asked, for she wasn't courageous; Quite the contrary. It was amazing that she'd stood there for that long already, even if her kjnees were knocking so loudly she was sure the fox could hear them. "C-c=ome in then...Would you mind terribly if I locked you in the gatehouse while I go get the Abbess/Abbot?" She asked.
OOC: Is anyone playing Abbess/Abbot? Please let me know.
OOC: That's what I was going for Corn
OOC: @Jett it was funny,
@Cornflower, no one is playing the Abbot/Abbess.
I Will doesn't post soon I'm gonna have to go on without him. We all need to get to the Abbey pronto. The proper quest hasn't even started yet. ::)
''Sure marm, that would be preciated!''
Marshall did not like them having to lock him up.
"Th-Th-thank you!" Anise said, then went over to her gatehouse and opened the door, so that the fox could go in. "I'm sorry.....It's just most vermin are well, not very nice in Mossflower." She apologized, then she said as an after thought, "Please try not to harm anything."
"Hang on, that might take to long," Said Tauten, watching Arya built the snow cave. "I saw some caves on my way here, and they'll provide great shelter." he continued, then started walking towards the caves he'd seen.
"Okay." She agreed, then started following him.
Toka was laying there, when he suddenly remembered Arnath. She probably would have found cover, and anyway. He wouldn't have been able to pull her up here. And he didn't want her up here, he never asked for her help, she could go o what she wanted, that was her business.
OOC: Yes, I know this is a double post, but I'd just like to suggest something to the people at the Abbey. I was thinking that maybe there could be clues, and other riddles at the Abbey itself. And that the people who's characters are there, could begin finding them.
OOC: Yeah, that sounds great!
The gatehouse was not very pleasant. It was too dusty for Marshall's liking. But it was better than freezing for the night. He found a small cot and wrapped himself up. What was he going to do now!
As the snow started coming down harder, Tauten bolted for the caves, slipping on the snow below his feet several times. He quickly found the largest cave, and ducked inside, waiting for Arya.
OOC: WILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OOC: Rachy, I think Will's left. :(
BIC: Arya tried to keep up with the Mara, but she tripped, and when she got back up, all she could see was snow, snow, and SNOW. She stumbled on, and then saw something dark. She ran for it, and found the cave that Tauten was in. She ran in, then shook the snow out of her cloak near the entrance.
OOC: Oh brilliant! ::)
BIC: Perry was running through the blizzard. He had been able to escape from the strange thing that was attacking him, but now he was lost in all this snow. He struggled on in the direction he hoped Redwall Abbey was in, but he wasn't sure. That was, until he walked slap bang into the wall.
OOC: HAHAHA!! Oh, brilliant Rachy! Pure brilliance! Yeah, it sucks that he's left....I happened to have been interacting with one of his charries in Ami's RP.
OOC: Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week! ;) Yeah I guess it is annoying, but never mid, ON WITH THE SHOW!
BIC: Perry picked himself up from where he'd fallen into a snowdrift, and stared at the massive construction in front of him. "Ants didn't build that." He awed.
Perry began walking along side the wall, shielding his eyes from the swirling snow. He came to a large gate, he began pounding on it before he had time to think. "Oi let me in! I'm freezing! LET ME IN!"
OOC: I'll do some PPing, to speed things up!
BIC: Sister Anise (Shopuld I make a character sheet for her, I wondwer?) was just coming back the the Abbess/Abbot when she heard someone banging on a wallgate. "Another visitor?" She asked herself, then went over and called, "Who is it? Be ye friend or foe?"
"A frozen friend! let me in!" Perry shivered.
"Alright, alright!" Anise shouted, then hurriedly opened up the gate.
Perry ran in, and looked around for a building, then looked at the creature who had let him in, "Hi."
"Hello. Why don't you come to the gatehouse? If you don't mind sharing the place with a fox." Anise asked, figuring that he'd want shelter, and the Abnot/Abbess was there.
Perry shrugged, "I'd rather share a room with a fox, than stay out here. Lead the way."
"Alright." Anise said, then marched towards the gatehouse.
OOC:Sorry computer bugs!! >:(
BIC:Bastun lunged with his torch at the beast in front of him."Take that, foul rat!!"Ten seeing that his enemy was armed, he took to drastic measures.Whooph!!went the tinder in Bastun's spikes and he huled him self into a flaming ball(despite the snow) and threw himself at the "rat"!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Askar was tired, Askar was annoyed.It was those silly gabbling hedgehogs who had rescued him.He recalled how when he was unconsious, they had told him, they slew the vermin and looted their camp.Now he was stuck with a hefty tribe of talkative hedepigs ,heading towards someplace called Redwall Abbey!As soon as they herd the searat's riddle, they began babbling on about great food and good company.But all Askar really wanted was one thing;Revenge!!
OOC: Good to have you back with us Will. Sorry, but I didn't know if you were coming back, so I had Perry escape, and he's now at Redwall Abbey, and there's a blizzard.
OOC: Han Norwood! Would you get your lazy tail over here and POST?!?!?!?!?!?!? Okay, that feels better. Let's rephrase, shall we? Han Norwood, would you please come and post? Thank you. Anfd, Will, for whatever reason that post of yours has stretched my screen length-wise.....Odd.
OOC:Wha...? ???
BIC:The grumpy hedgehog knocked on the door.No answer.He knocked again.No answer."Right you in there!Yes,I see you,young 'un!Open this door!"A immediate giggle came from the other side."Cheeky little blighter."Bastun mumbled to himself.Then a "creak!"Emitted from the door and it swung in forwards!
"Humh,it took more time then it needed to Redwall Abb'y."Grumpily exclaimed Bastun as the blizzard started up again and the doors reflexed inwards.
OOC: Beats me.
OOC: What?
OOC: Oh, one of Will's previous posts stretched my screen length wise.
OOC: That's weird. Oh, and another thing that is weird. The fact that loads of people have stopped posting.
*glares at people to make them feel guilty*
OOC: I know! Shall I PM them a reminder? A nice one, mind you.
OOC: Yes please. If I do it, then I look like I'm being annoying.
"What have we here? Some new critters I fear." The Tricksters voice echoed throughout the cave. "In my cavern, I see. What have you for me?" He called out again, using the walls natural resonance to make his voice louder.
Tauten had drawn his sword almost immediately when the Trickster had called out. "Maybe we should just stay in the cold," whispered Tauten. "Or find something to pay him with. This beast sounds kind of crazy."
Perry was shown into the gatehouse, he was glad to be out of the cold, but a little afraid that he would have to share it with a fox.
Anise slipped in after the squirrel, noticing that the Abbess/Abbot was there already.
-----------------------------------
Arya readied her bow, looking for something to shoot at, her heart starting to pound. She gulped, and replied to the mysterious voice, "I don't have anything to pay you with. We just want to stay long enough for the storm to pass." She called into the darkness.
Marshall saw the Squirrel walk in.
''Hello there mate! Me Names Marshall Scottsworth. Wot be yours?''
OOC: Ach, vhere are ve na'? Zorry aboot ze lack o' poztz from me. Ah zink ah moight 'ave zoned oot or zummat. (Or may'apz procraztination...)
"Perry Swiftbreeze." Perry replied nervously.
Then an elderly vole spoke up, "It's nice to meet both of you. I am Abbot Fiflo."
OOC: TYHANK YOU RACHY!!! Someone's finally playing the Abbot....
''Well, nice ta meet ya both, Perry and Fiflo! Dont be scared of meh. Im a simple Fox, raised to be good and trustworthy. I have a blue coat as you can see. Well, im gettin' a bit o' shuteye, So G'night to ya all!''
Marshall got back in the bed and layed down.
The Abbot was a little taken aback, but he got over it, and turned to Perry, "Would you like a room in the Abbey? We have plenty of spares."
Perry thought about it, then shook his head, "It wouldn't be fair to let me into the Abbey place, but not Marshall. I'll spend the night here."
"As you wish." Abbot Fiflo nodded.
Raxanna left the castle with a score of good fighting men all fitted out with weapons and armor. The two that the king had chosen to "watch her" Was a hulking stoat with an ax named Gerdereg and a slinking fox named Selic. She looked at both of them with disdain. They headed off threw the woods behind the castle at a brisk pace. Many of the men who had been chosen where young able bodied individuals who where getting restless. So she may have to knock a few brash or rowdy creatures in line but that was not difficult.
Toka looked out into the night, it had stopped snowing. He climbed out the tree, but about half way down, a branch hit his wounded side, and he let go of the branches he was holding, and fell into deep, soft snow. He stood up spluttering, and wiped snow out of his eyes. I better get going then.
Arnith woke up to the sound of Toka falling from the tree the mouse was gone and the snow had stopped. She crawled from the hiding place and started after Toka.
Toka floundered in the snow, it was so deep, it made walking almost impossible. Toka eventually decided he better travel in the trees. Wound, or no wound.
Arnith floundered in the snow "Wait! You can make some snow shoes!" Arnith said "You shouldn't climb with that wound."
OOC: Han......I'm waiting.....
"I don't have time to make stupid snow shoes!" Toka snarled, as he climbed an ash tree.
OOC: Ok, is it night or not? Cos in some posts it's says it's night, but in others it's not clear?
Arnith tried to follow But the snow was deep and it slowed her down immensely.
Toka was up in the branches of the ash tree, he was aiming for a branch of a nearby elm, but as he jumped pain erupted all though him. He missed the branch, and landed in the deep snow.
"It Will Be safer and faster if we make snow shoes," Arnith said standing over him. "It is easy just use some tree bark,"
OOC: I thought it was evening. But let's just it's night, if that's what it is?
OOC: I guess it could be night. The blizzard could have been blowing for a long while.
BIC: "Fine." Toka mumbled, and got up onto his knees.
"Good," Arnith said helping him up.
Toka shook the snow out of his fur, and turned to Arnath.
OOC: Faiy, you changed your character's name.
OOC: My stupid memory... :P
BIC: Arnath went over to a tree and felt the bark "This will do. Do you have a knife?" She asked
"Of course I have a knife." Toka spat.
"We need pieces of bark About this big and this wide," she said holding her paws up.
Fine." Toka snarled, walking over, taking out his dagger.
Arnath took some cloth strips out of her satchel to use to attache them to there feet.
Toka was soon done, and he threw the bark at Arnath's feet. "Done."
There She picked them up and strapped them to her footpaws then handed Toka the cloth.
Toka did the task quickly, then looked at the bark strapped to his feet. "Are you serious? How the hell am I meant to walk wearing these?"
"Like this," She said walking lightly across the top of the snow in the direction they where headed.
"But that looks stupid. And how am I meant to walk quickly without falling over?" Toka groaned following.
"Ok then don't ware them but you will go three times slower," She said she was already quite a bit ahead if he wanted to be suborn it was his own fault after foundering around in the snow for a bit her would come around.
Toka snorted, and followed, complaining about the shoes all the way.
The terrain was becoming more and more unfamiliar and Arnath was beginning to use her stick more and more suddenly she stopped she had never gone beyond this point. The trees stopped there as from what she heard an open filed went on for a good bit before rejoining with the woods on the other side.
Misak and Kaijo had both been forced onto the fallen tree, standing at the very back, side by side while the river rushed on below and the savages made their way toward them, slowly, as if they were hunting wolves who'd cornered their prey and were just waiting for it to make a stupid move. Misak and Kaijo weren't stupid, if the vermin were going to take their time then so would they. Misak was picking off the bigger ones at a leisurely pace whilst Kaijo honed his blade on a stone that he always kept on him. One of the savages grew impatient and launched himself at them, Misak's dirk caught him in the throat and he toppled into the river with a look of surprise on his face.
OOC: Interesting! But isn't it hard to fight while on a log? But then, I suppose they have much better balance than I do....
Toka walked past Arnath, calling behind him, "What's the matter? Hurry up!"
His voice sounded odd Arnath took a step and then another and was soon walking quickly again it felt to open and she did not like it.
"Come on, I actually would like to get to the woods by sun rise." Toka smirked, sarcastically.
Then he noticed something above the treetops, in the distance. It looked like the top of a building, "Hey, what's that?" He asked Arnath, temporally forgetting she was blind.
"Whats what?" She asked then a bell rang in the distance. It was a large bell by the sound of it and Arnath perked up and waked faster.
"That!" Toka huffed, "Is it the Abbey?"
"Well I guessed that now." She said.
"Well, let's get going." Toka smiled, and hurried as fast as he could towards the Abbey.
The tone in his voice was a lot more cheerful then it normally was which was a good sign Arnath thought.
Toka hadn't gone far before one of his snow shoes got caught on something under the snow, and he fell head over heels. Toka got up spluttering, and cursing.
"Are you ok?" Arnath asked. Well that was short. She thought referring to his good mood.
"Of course I'm *%^&@ ok! What else would I be?" Toka growled, still swearing as he moved off.
Arnath winced at his language and continued to follow him into the unknown darkness. She did not like the feeling. she had always known exactly where she was she knew the forest like the back of her hand every tree and root and path but now she felt vulnerable.
OOC: I think you meant language. ;)
BIC: Toka continued, muttering some very colourful things under his breath as he went. Not long now, and he'd reach the Abbey, then the real adventure would begin.
OOC: HAN. NOR. WOOD!!!
OOC: I'm not even sure if he's playing anymore.
OOC: I'm not either. Should I PM him again?
OOC: You could try.
Arnath was relying heavily on her hearing and her walking stick but they where unable to detect everything. She tripped and let go of her walking stick. She groped around fro it in the dark but it was not where she thought it had landed. Every thing sounded strange out in the open.
Toka noticed Arnath fall, but he didn't bother to go back, and help her. Her stick was only just out of arms reach, she would find it eventually.
OOC: Can't. Weird.
Her paw closed on something hard but it was not her walking stick it was a branch which she had tripped over. She used it to help find her walking stick and once she had located it she piked it up and stared after Toka. She was not sure but he sounded like he had gotten a good bit a head.
OOC: Sorry. Seems I have some catching up to do.
BIC: "Staying for the storm? There is no storm, you lying worm!" The Trickster shouted out, suddenly angry. "This cave is my home, and I'll roam it alone!" he shouted. He threw a rock out of the shadows, hitting Tauten right on the head.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ow!" shouted Tauten, when a rock came out of the shadows and hit him on the head. "There!" to the spot the rock had come out of. "That's where the rock came from. Shoot him!" The creatures shape could just be seen through the shadows.
After they had gone a good way Raxanna noticed they where being followed. The occasional crunch of snow, a whispered word, snow falling from a bush as it was bumped into. It was obvious that they did not know what they where doing. She slipped behind a tree and drew her dirk. As they approached she sprang from her hidden place and grabbed the closet one by the neck and slammed him up against the tree dirk presses against his neck.
It was Ring tail he stared back at her with panicked eyes unable to speak while Dragut babbled excuses pitifully.
"It's us milady its us... we where just... you see there was this... Hare and he... well we thought... and he had this...,"
"Shut up!," She boomed flinging Ringtail head first into the snow "I don't care what you where doing just get marching!" The two scrambled undignified to get away from her and do as she said.
Toka had made it into the forest, and was already off through the trees, the Abbey momentarily lost to view, hidden by the trees.
Arnath could hear Toka ahead but he was getting farther and farther away. She suddenly stopped as her walking stick hit something hard she reached out and her paw touched the bark of a tree. After going a little farther she found another one and another. She wanted to dance and huge some one she was back in the forest! The safe warm forest where she belonged. But she could not stop she was going to loose Toka and she hurried on.
Toka had decided he didn't need the snow shoes here, the forest was denser, and the snow not so deep. He took them off, and threw them away, and was now able to walk a lot quicker.
Arnath however knew what she was doing, she had used snow shoes many times, kept them on and started to push herself along with the walking stick like skis.
Toka could hear a strange swooshing sound behind him, he turned to see Arnath skiing towards him. "How the hell do you know you won't hit a tree?" He shouted.
"The sound... it sounds different when you are near a tree!" She said then she wiped out at the bottom of the hill and landed in a snow drift laughing. "See," She said picking her self up.
"Not really." Toka huffed, and trudged on, kind if wishing he'd left his snow shoes on now, so he could do what she was.
Arnath laughed again saying "Its funner this way," and pushed off stopping a bit ahead to wait for him.
"Stop messing around, and let's just get there. It's already about time for breakfast." Toka growled, as he leapt over a snowdrift.
"It's also faster," She said giving herself another push and she slid down the hill along the path. She could feel the sun rising and warming her fur and tired limbs.
"Good for you!" Toka shouted.
The Abbey was getting closer now, he could see the snow covered walls in the distance.
It felt good she pushed her self along for some extra speed then Some thing was off it felt wrong... then. Bang! She ran into something and fell over backwards. She sat up rubbing her nose and yelled back to Toka "I think I found the abbey."
"Yeah, ya did!" Toka shouted, she was quite some way ahead of him.
----------------
Perry was awake, and sitting in the Gatehouse thing. Marshall the fox was still asleep, but Perry was busy eating some breakfast brought to them by an Abbey person.
Arnath got up and walked along the length of the wall tapping it with her walking stick till she found a door. She gave it a strong knock and waited.
OOC: Am assuming that it isn't the next day? SAnd if it is, then I'm catching up.
BIC: Arya had gasped when the unknown creature shouted, and when the rock came flying, she shot several times over into that region, then screamed into the darkness, "THERE
IS A SNOWSTORM, YOU FILTHY VERMIN! YOU'VE HIT HIM ON THE HEAD WITH YOUR ROCK! CAN'T SIMPLE BEASTS SHELTER?!?! YOU NASTY, FILTHY, VILE, DIRTY, HORRIBLE BEAST!"
Toka ran to catch up, and was soon standing next to Arnath.
"If only I hadn't darn well got stabbed, I could have been over this wall in a second." He muttered.
---------------
Perry heard a defiant knocking sound, he stood up, and went over to the door, and shouted, "Sorry mates! I can't let you in, I'm locked in the gatehouse. Some Abbey beast should be along soon!"
Arnath's sharp ears picked up the sound of someone calling from inside. "I think he said he is locked in the gate house..." She said puzzled.
"Who's locked in a what?" Toka asked, he wished the creature had spoken more clearly, Toka hadn't been able to make out what he said.
"He said he was locked in a gate house. though that doesn't make much sense and I think he's a mouse or a squirrel but its hard to tell." She said
"Fine, but I'm not waiting. Wound, or no wound. I'm gonna get over that wall." Toka growled, determination in his eyes.
He then began to plan his route up, it would be difficult, but he was a skilled climber. It wouldn't take long. He mounted the wall, and began to climb slowly.
"You can't scale a wall! You could barely clime a tree without hurting your self. he said some one would be along soon," She knocked on the door again this time a bit louder.
"Oh shuttup!" Toka shouted, "I'm trying to concentrate!"
Toka was now a good way up the wall, but it was becoming a little more difficult this high up. Toka remembered doing this the other night, he could do it now, just a little bit further.
Just then the door opened "Hi sorry can I come in," She said and without waiting for an answer she stepped in "How do you get to the wall top my friend is trying to clime over the wall!"
Sister Anise, was having a bad day..And night. "What?!?!?? He's crazy! Come on, this way!" She said, then grabbed Arnath's paw and raced off to the walltop steps.
Arnath rushed along being pulled by the sister tripping on the snow shoes and losing her seance of direction in general. "Oh! Slow down!"
"Oh, sorry!" Anise apologized, then slowed her head-long run into a jog.
Toka had reached the top of the wall, and was sitting on the walltop, getting his breath back, and massaging his side.
OOC:L How can he massacre his side? Massage, Rachy, massage.
BIC: Anise noticed a squirrel, sitting on the walltops, rubbing his side. "Oh my goodness! Are you alright?" She asked, going up the steps, after kindly telling Arnath that there was steps, a lot of them, and rushed them, and started fussing over him.
Arnath ripped off the snow shoes and started up the stares. Everything sounded odd with all of this stone and snow and it took her a good minute to safely mount them.
OOC: STUPID ATUOCORRECT!
BIC: Toka pushed her away, drew his dagger, and pointed it at her," Stay away from me! Got it?" He growled.
"Toka be nice! she was just trying to help and plus what you just did was incredibly stupid! Trying to climb the wall with that wound!" Arnath said.
OOC: Tis okay, Rachy. *Pats back* At least it doesn't happen that often. And Faiy's gotten better with her Auto-correct too! Is this a reason for a party?
BIC: Anise's jaw dropped, along with the rest of her. Standing back up, she said, "I don't have a clue who you are, but I must ask you to either put up your weapon, give it to me, or leave the Abbey. There's three chioces there, and you can take one of them. This is a non violent Abbey, and I should like it to stay that way." She declared then folded her arms.
"He didn't mean it, He's hurt and needs medical attention and we have been traveling all night and we are tired, and not at our best,"
"Still, it's an Abbey rule." Anise said, but softened and unfolded her arms.
"I'll hold on to it for you if you like," Arnath said to Toka hoping that he would oblige and wouldn't cause any more trouble.
Anise waited, her eyes ping-ponging between the two.
Toka continued to glare at the two mice. Despite how long he'd been out in the snow, he was sweating. Everything was blurry, and nothing seemed to be making sense. He shook his head, trying to clear, but then he felt an overwhelming tiredness come over him.
OOC: I was thinking he properly would have got a fever, or something from living in a filthy cell for months, also he's gone a little crazy.
BIC: Perry heard the whole conversation, and decided to ask if he could be let out of the gatehouse, "Um, hello up there. Could I come out now?"
OOC: The fact that he was travailing all night and he is injured would be enough to make him ill.
BIC: Arnath wait threw the tense silence some thing was wrong why didn't Toka say something, mean or otherwise.
Toka began to find it hard to breath, like he was being crushed, his paws began shaking, "Stay away! Don't touch me! Just stay away!" He shouted, his eyes darting around wildly.
"Toka! whats wrong? Tell me what's happening!" She said
"Little mouse, this is my house. You're inside uninvited, and I will fix that." The Trickster said, abandoning his usually rhymes. He started tossing more rocks out of the shadows.
OOC: Arya is a squiggle! :P
BIC: "Don't come any closer! JUST STAY AWAY!" Toka was almost screaming, his head felt like it was being pounded with rocks.
"Toka! Toka whats happening is there someone else there?" She called she was now thoroughly scared. Toka's tone was serious and even a bit frantic. Unsure of what to do she toka few steps closer. "Toka I'm scared whats happening?"
"JUST STAY AWAY!" Toka screamed, and pushed himself into the corner, still menacing with his dagger.
Arya bared her teeth. "NO!!!!" She screeched, just before a rock hit her head, and she was knocked unconscious, the arrow she'd been loading slipping to the floor, along her the bow, and body.
------------------------------------------
Anise started to recognize the signs of fever. "He's got a fever!" She said, and then touched Arnath on the shoulder. "Can you go down the steps by yourself? If you can, let the squirrel down in the gatehouse out, and tell him to find the Abbot, and Infirmary Brother. "Quickly!" Anise said, her voice urgent. "Go as fast as you can, but be careful." She added, then approached the feverish squirrel. "Toka, is that your name? You need to get down from the walltop. Let me help you."
Arnath realized that he was shouting at here. She took a few steps back. Anise touched her on the shoulder and gave her the instructions she turned and started down the stares going as quickly as she could but going down stares was a lot more tricky then going up. When she was almost to the bottom she slipped and went tumbling down landing in a snow drift. She picked her self up and went over to the gate house. after a moment of messing around she had the door unlocked. She opened the door and said "I was told to tell you to go get the abbess and the infirmary keeper! Please we need help and as fat as you can,"
"LEAVE ME ALONE! WHY CAN'T PEOPLE JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!?!" Toka screamed, trembling all over. He was starting to feel very cold, even though sweat poured down his face.
----------------
Perry was a little taken aback, "Ok, but I don't my way around here. I only met the Abbot last night."
"You know your way better than I do! you will be a lot faster." Arnath said.
"Toka, calm down. Just listen to me..." Anise said soothingly, then she spared a glance down at the grounds. The gatehouse door was open. Then she started singing a lullaby, inching closer to Toka.
"Ok." Perry said, uncertain. But then he heard some shouting from above, and then ran off towards the Abbey.
----------------------------
Toka dropped the dagger, and covered his ears, and began groaning,"Stopit! She was the only one who liked to sing to me! STOPIT!"
Arnath closed the door but did not lock it and unsure of what to do she sat down with he back against the wall.
Perry soon returned with the Abbot, and someone who was apparently a healer.
Anise immediately stopped singing, then started approaching. "Who's "She", if I can ask?" She asked, hoping to distract him long enough to get close to him, to get him off the wall.
Toka didn't reply, he was too busy trying to push the horrifying images of his Mother sobbing in the corner of the room, her dress soaked with blood. His father's body being taken away to be buried. Toka, only a young teenager, left to watch. That moment, when something inside of him snapped, and the moment when he was no longer a normal squirrel. He became someone who no one would ever want to know. A monster.
Arnath went over to them "He is up on the wall top she said he has a fever and he wont come down," She said.
_______
Raxanna and her new men had been marching all threw the night and most of the morning when they stopped and made camp to rest. She Climbed up on a rock and stood before them.
"I have learned of the whereabouts of a great treasurer a treasure in the south. Your king has ordered you to accompany me and to bring back a portion of the treasure to him. but I will make my self clear. you will obey me in ever respect, Do exactly as I say with complete order and if I find that any of you are disloyal even thinking about it!" There was a long silence then she locked eyes with a young rat. "You!" She said jumping down from the rock to meet him her dirk drawn. "You can't hid from me," She said lightly tracing his ear with the tip of the blade and then sliding in it lightly down to poke his chin. He started to babble about his innocence but she pressed harder there was a drop of blood and he clamped him mouth shut. "This is what happens to those who are disloyal not only to me but to there king!" She said and with one swift movement she had stabbed him in the middle. She then turned on her heal as if she didn't care in the slightest. as if this was just a trifle and all the vermin stared in horror. What kind of person could know your thoughts "Will some one clean up this mess," She said absent mindedly before entering her tent.
It was all a ruse how ever if not a very clever one. She had not known whether he was loyal or not but by making it seem like he was made it all the more effective. Always act like you are more on top of things than you really are and you will keep a tight grip.
The Abbot, and infirmary keeper rushed up onto the walltop, and began to approach Toka.
Anise knelt down beside him, then glanced up at the Abbot and Infirmary Brother. She mouthed, Help me pick him up! It's the only way to get him down.
Toka suddenly opened his eyes, and saw creatures crowded round him. He began snarling at them, and lashed out at the closest person, "LEAVE ME ALONE!"
Anise tumbled backwards, having been hit in the mouth. Her head hit bthe stone walltop with a Crack! All she saw was blackness, blackness, blackness........
OOC: Seriously, Rachy, should I make her a real charrie? And, no, she's not dead.
Tauten grabbed Arya and ran behind a rock. He'd left her weapons, but grabbed her. Now he was holding his sword in his left paw, and a rock in his right, ready to throw the rock as a distraction to get out of the cave.
"Where have you gone? You can't hide for long." called the Trickster. Tauten threw the rock, distracting his for, then pulled Arya out of the cave.
OOC: *Gasps* Han's alive!
BIC: Areya groaned, and woke up. "Ooh, my head." She said, shaking the head in question. Then she checked if her sword was still there, out of habit, and freaked. "Where's my sword? And my bow? Where are they?" Sher said, patting herself down, and spinning in a circle, trying to find them. Her aching head was now forgotten.
Sedge had caught sight of the bell tower in an open section of the woods not long back, and he must have covered most of the remaining by now. Before he saw the Abbey however, he heard it... Well, heard Toka anyway. When he heard the shout he froze the instant after crouching. After confirming the location of the shout, he began to run towards the walls, going as the crow flies rather than traversing the path. Upon site of the walltop, and somebeasts form atop it, he called out, "Hey! Is everybeast okay in there?!" Things certainly didn't seem okay, strange for such a peaceful location.
OOC: sorry for not posting!!!
BIC: Marshall had heard the Toka screaming and woke up.
"Can't a chap get a bli-"
No one was in there.
"We'll then! I'll find me own way out!"
He walked over to the door and opened it, but was taken aback when he saw Arnath sitting by the wall.
"G'morn ta ye! Do you know what is screamin like a madbeast?"
Arnath jumped up startled. She had not heard him coming over the noise. "It's my friend, The nice mouse up there said that he had a fever, He wont let anyone near him..." She said then on another note she asked "why where you and that squirrel (OOC: Or was Perry a mouse?) locked in the gate house?"
OOC: @Cornflower, you could make her a full time character if you like. @Faiyloe, yeah, Perry is a squiggle.
BIC: Perry had followed the Abbot, and infirmary keeper up onto the wall. He got there just in time to see the apparently feverish squirrel punch a mousemaid. That made him cross, fever or no fever, it was bad manners to hit people. The Abbot, and infirmary keeper, had jumped back, away from the snarling beast. Perry pushed forward to confront him, when he heard a shout.
"Hey! Is everybeast okay in there?!"
Perry turned, and looked over the wall, a fox was standing down there, but since Perry wasn't a stereotype, he thought nothing of it. "Um, not really. We've got a feverish squirrel up here, who won't let anyone near him. He's already knocked someone out."
Perry glanced round, to see the Abbot, and infirmary keeper seeing to the unfortunate maid.
"Mind letting me in? Tell the Abbot it's Sedge. I haven't been here in quite awhile so I doubt that most would know me... Oh! I might be able to help you with this dilemma." Sedge knew all too well the suspicion of his species, his relationship with the Abbot was certainly beneficial when dealing with this issue.
OOC: Oh wait! Is the Abbot being played by someone? I can change my post if someone's actually playing him and doesn't want to have anything to do with a scoundrelous (:P) vermin like myself.
OOC: No, your alright. I'm just PPing the Abbot.
BIC: "Ok!" Perry shouted down, feeling a little better, that he wouldn't have to confront the snarling beast in the corner.
He ran down the wallsteps, went over to the gate, and opened before thinking twice.
Sedge was, to say the least, surprised when the door opened just moments after the request. He was going to ask, bu if the Abbey was having issues with a violent squirrel then that would be best dealt with immediately. After thanking Perry he jogged to the staircase to see what the matter was, though he was a bit concerned about approaching lest he scare somebeast.
Toka had picked up his dagger again, and was snarling at anyone who came to near. Memories of the night before came, dead beast everywhere, blood, so much wonderful blood, flames, screaming. And him, the Son Of Fire, and Darkness.
The squirrel had a weapon! That settled it. He fell back to the gatehouse to grab a broom that hadn't moved in seasons, and broke off the sweeping end to make a makeshift staff, "Everybeast off the wall! He's got a weapon, and blood is best not spilled!" The fox was at the stairs, and hurrying up them.
Toka, through his misty gaze, saw someone come towards him with a staff. He got up into a crouch, and snarled, "Why can't you people just leave me alone?"
"What!" Arnath said in alarm " Whats happening? Please be careful don't hurt him!" She followed the fox to the foot of the stairs.
Sedge started to twirl the staff menacingly with his right hand, while inserting his left into what appeared to be a pocket, "Don't worry miss, he shouldn't be too hard to deal with. He's incompetent, completely out of control. I'll only use enough force to put 'em to sleep."
Toka laughed, oh, this one thought he was so clever. Out of control indeed. Toka was never truly out of control, expect for that nasty incident with the ferret, and the tree, and the bootlaces, all very nasty. But he had only been out of control because of how much he had been enjoying himself.
Toka stood up, and put away his dagger, and drew out his magnificent sword, immediately he felt a bit better, his head seemed to clear a little. His vision was no longer blurry. "So, do you want to dance, fox." Toka smiled nastily.
Sedge gave a wry grin, "See what I mean? He's holding a sword and he asks me to dance." Just before he finished speaking his left paw flew out of his "pocket" and launched a large puff of sand straight at Toka's face. He was already moving by this time, he snapped the old brittle broom stick which made a very obnoxiously loud snapping sound. The two ends now lying on the ground the fox grabbed his opponents sword hands and spun under them, placing himself somewhat between the squirrel and the blade. He pulled down which should pull Toka with it.
OOC: Yes, there are some PP elements in the post, but lets be real here. We're talking about a squirrel who's sick, fighting a very experienced fox (he's over 30, and foxes are known for their slyness). By the time Toka could recover from the age old sand-in-the-face trick, Sedge would easily have enough time to this off. (It was a grab-spin-flip maneuver, and it's quite effective)
I also might not be back for a bit. :(
OOC: It's ok, I was hoping you'd do something like that. I'm hopeless at writing duels. ::) (as we both know)
BIC: Toka was taken by surprise, before he knew it, he was on the ground, his head swimming, and aching.
Arnath heard the crack and came running up the stairs slipping and tripping the whole time.
Toka felt himself falling into blackness, dark, peaceful blackness.
As the squirrel flipped, Sedge wrested the sword from the loosened grip and slid it off to where it wouldn't harm anybeast before going for a sleeper hold. He halted half-way to Toka's neck as he was already conked out. Righting himself he spoke, "Hmmm, wasn't quite what I was going for, but it'll work."
OOC: Thank you for your cooperation. ;)
"What happened! what was that!" Arnath said reaching the top of the stairs.
Perry followed Arnath up the stairs, and explained, "It seems the fox here, has knocked your friend out cold."
"Is he Ok!" She said beginning to panic and thinking the worst. The idea of blood splattered all over the wall top flashed threw her mind but she quickly pushed that away. What had made that loud crack?
"Don't worry he's fine. He just had a broom handle broken over his skull. Serves 'im right, if you ask me." Perry shrugged.
Arnath sighed "Just so long as the crack was the broom and not his skull,"
"It was the broom." Perry said, trying to hide a smile. "Someone should probably carry him inside though."
Anise has just coming around. "Oh, my head...Who hit me...?" She asked, before remembering. "Oh! Is that squirrel alright?!?" She asked, sitting up too fast, and getting dizzy.
Marshall had followed Perry down the steps. He looked up when Sedge hit Toka on the head. He thought to himself," Finally, another good fox!".
"I ain't carry in' no crazy mad squirrel inside!"
Sedge had gone to retrieve the blade that he had ripped out of Toka's hands. Upon getting back to the enlarging group he passed the hilt of the sword in Perry's direction before bending over to pick the squirrels' form off of the ground, "I'm assuming you want him in the Infirmary, correct?"
Perry took the magnificent blade, and stared at it in awe, how'd a guy like that, get hold of a sword like this?
"Oh, I don't know. I don't live here, I..I...I only got here last night."
The infirmary keeper spoke up, saying that yes, he did want him in the infirmary, and to follow him, and that Sister Anise should come to.
Anise stood up, and started staggering towards the steps, and then almost fell flat on her face. "Oh, dear..Perhaps someone should help get to the Infirmary." She suggested, swaying before she took hold of a battlement and held on tight.
Perry leapt forward, to help steady her, "I'll help you there." He smiled, though he wasn't sure what to do with this wonderful sword. He didn't have a sheath it would fit in.
"Thank you." Anise said, smiling. Then she slipped her arm around his waist, although it was more of his hips, as he was quite a bit taller than her.
Perry smiled nervously, but helped her down the stairs.
When Anise gotr to the bottom of the stairs, thje looked up at PErry's face again. "Thank you! You're such a nice squirrel....I, quite frankly, am surprised you've never visited Redwall before. Now, I know you haven't, because I've been living in the ?Gatehouse for qyuite some time. And I've never seen you before." She stated. She quite liked Perry.
Arnath started down the stairs this time more slowly and carefully. She seemed to be getting the hang of it.
Marshall went over to Sedge and talked to him.
"Hello! Me names Marshall! You are a good fighter let me say! I'm glad to see another good fox here aye?"
Perry blushed, "Oh, well I never visited cos I'm from down south. Very far south, in fact I only saw snow for the first time the other day."
It had actually began snowing again, not heavily, but it looked like it would increase soon.
"Oh. Well, here comes an opportunity to see more." Anise said, noting the snow. She started to pick up the pace a little bit, and explained. "I can tell it's going to start coming down heavy soon. The way it's falling helps."
"Oh, ok." Perry said following her.
Anise was wondering just how far South you had to be when you didn't have any snow, when it started snowing harder. "Oh, wonderful." She said sarcastically, then noticed the Abbey door was just up ahead. "Oh, goody!"
Perry saw the door, and quickened his pace.
OOC: Come on guys POST!
Kaijo and Misak were exhausted, they had won but only just, they were both covered in cuts and bruises and what's more, they were in the middle of a blizzard. "If we don't find shelter soon I'm going to die" gasped Kaijo. Misak was faring slightly better "I don't think that's true, not unless you fall unconscious and get buried by snow"
"I'm going to do just that"
"And why exactly is that?" Kaijo couldn't answer in full sentences
"Blood loss, exertion"
"If you die on me I am going to kill you"
"Makes...sense" Kaijo collapsed
"KAIJO!"
"Sorry dear, think you're going to...have to do this...without me"
"Over my dead body!"
"Sorry but...it'll be my...body...not yours"
"Kaijo no!"
"When you get...back tell Sasam...I'm sorry" and with that Kaijo Helmos slipped into the merciful blackness. "Oh no you don't" Misak growled, hoisting the unconscious caracal onto her shoulders "I'm saving your life if it kills me"
OOC" HAHAHAHA!! Oh, Jet....How do you think these things up?
And, Rach, I really can't do anything until Han dioes......HAN NORWOOD! I SAW YOU ONLINE THE OTHER DAY!!
OOC: That wasn't supposed to be comedic :-\
OOC: Oh, sorry. Buyt still - "If you die on me then I'm going to kill you"?
OOC: Comedy in sad scenes happens a lot, that line is directly stolen from at least five places
OOC: I cant post until Dan does soooo ya...
OOC: So we're waiting on Dan, and Han. Dan has posted in AWTFYH so he is on. Someone should PM him.
OOC: Han. Nor. Wood...Rach, can I just go on ahead? Without Han?
OOC: Um, I think your gonna have to. Everyone else is at the Abbey, and the proper part of the RP needs to begin, and we're just waiting on you two. yeah, just go ahead. If he comes back, he'll just have to think up some reason why their were separated or something.
Sedge headed off to the infirmary with the unconscious squirrel, only giving the other fox a copied, "Aye." He usually wasn't quite so taciturn, but he had to get the patient to his destination quickly. Small talk could be made later.
OOC: Got that.
Arya dashed back into the cave, grabbed her weapons, and than ran bavk out, dodging more rocks. Then she set off for the Abbey, then stopped, strapped on her weapons, and went up a tree. She'd get to the Abbey much faster that way. After about twenty minutes, the Abbey Belltower came into sight, and she started pushing herself harder.
OOC: I know I originally said about a day, but I'm cutting that. She needs to get to the Abbey.
OOC: That's ok. When you arrive we'll be able to start phase two! ;D
OOC: I am planning on Raxanna getting there just around when they are leaving. Is that ok?
OOC: Should be...But I dunno, Faiy.
BIC: Arya was just getting to the Abbey. She studied the walls, jiggled a little door - It was locked - And decided to just go up the walls. It wasn't hard, really. She got to the top, and called, "Hello? Anyone here? I don't mean anyone harm." She semi-shouted, then looked around. It was hard to see because of the snow, so she just plopped down on he wall, to wait.
OOC: You forgot me Rachel! >:(. Think of the next bit as me catching up
The blizzard was clearing up but the snow was deep and Misak's paws were numb. Just as she thought she couldn't go on much longer she saw a large red building "Look for a red stone house" she muttered. She staggered toward the building and collapsed against the gate, hammering it with her fists and shouting as loud as she could "Hello? Is there anyone in there?"
"Ok then! Glad t' meet ya!"
Marshall strode back to the gatehouse to get his axe. When he came out, he saw a squirrel not far from him .
"Hello there! What are you doing out here on the wall ?"
OOC: If you're talking about Arya, she's up on the wall and I think you'd notice a loud banging noise and shouts
OOC: *facepams* Darn, I'm such an idiot! I forgot all about Raxanna, and your guys Jett. Stupidhead!
Oh, and I guess that alright Faiy, though I don't entirely understand what you mean?
OOC: All I am saying is that she will get there latter rather than sooner.
Raxanna sat in her tent. She was planing on moving out at noon. She watched the various vermin threw a slit in the tent folds building fires and resting or trying to get some thing to eat. She needed to learn as much as she could about them it could come in handy. The stuff she had said back there at the castle she had learned to read between the lines and she had gotten lucky but she could not risk that again. She needed to tighten her grip and fast or else she would find herself dead at the hand of some captain wanna be.
Marshall heard the knocking.
''Hold that thought.''
He ran down the wallsteps and opened the gate.
''Umm, hello! Come inside!''
Arya heard voices down below, and ran to the edge of the walltop. "Hello? Is anyone down there? I'm friendly, and I'd like to come in and get warmed up for a few minutes, please!" She shouted down, hoping that whoever it was would hear her.
Misak staggered in "Thank you, introductions will have to wait, I need to get this caracal to a healer, now! Do you know where one can be found?"
OOC: So bad......
"I think a place called the infirmary... Follow me and I'll show you."
Marshall looked around and found Sedge and ran to him.
"There is another hurt creature here. Where is the infirmary?"
OOC: Dan, I can't use Toka until you deposit him in the infirmary! You need to post more, also Gonff is now waiting.
OOC:Be prepared for a awkward moment here,also you will get to know the hedgehogs later! ;D
BIC:Askar thundered along the path, eager to get away from the hedgehogs,called the Hognogs,and get back to life as normal;killing searats and taking their plunder for a living.As he walked along he noticed something among the trees.Little knowing it was the top of Redwall Abbey,he, to his despair,went back and told the Hognog tribe of his discovery.What it was was a surprise,they told him,and they should go there on a double forced march.
Finally they reached the gate, and when they knocked on the great oaken doors,to his surprise,somebeast answered!But when the small huffy dormouse opened the door, silence fell on the party.Well,this was awkward... :-[
OOC: Um, as far as I know Will, Jett's characters are at the gate.
Please read carefully, we don't want confusion, and you need to post more Will, cos you've been terribly left behind.
OOC: My, my! Jet, that post wasn't so bad, really. And Gonff, Marshall failed to hear shouting from the walltop? Mm-hmm. Guess Arya'll wait out the stor-WAIT!!!Rach, I've got an idea!
Tauten was a bit unhappy. Almost as soon as she had woken up, Arya had dashed into the cave, and came flying out with her weapons in hand. He didn't have time to catch up to her before she vanished into the blizzard. Now the Mara was wandering aimlessly, hoping to find the Abbey mentioned in the riddle. He regretted abandoning his hunt for the Shrew now, lost in this freezing weather. Lost in thought, he crashed right into a small wooden door. Tauten blinked a few times, then grinned. It looked like he had found the Abbey. He knocked on the door a few times, then pulled his coat around him. He was prepared to wait. Fortunately, the weather had calmed greatly, and it was hardly snowing anymore.
OOC: Will, in order to remain separate, I am thinking that Tauten is at one of the smaller doors, off of the path.
OOC: My, my! Jet, that post wasn't so bad, really. And Gonff, Marshall failed to hear shouting from the walltop? Mm-hmm. Guess Arya'll wait out the stor-WAIT!!!Rach, I've got an idea!
OOC: Ooooo, ok. What is it? Do you want to PM me, or just say it here, or in the OOC thread? Come on, I'm curious now!
OOC: Um....guys?
OOC: Yes, Rach? I PM<ed yoyu my plan. Where is everybody? Shouold I PM them again?
OOC: Probably. This RP is starting to feel like a ghost town...................
OOC: I have to wait for Dan and Wylder so...
OOC: Urrgh.....
OOC: Let's just say Sedge already put what's-his-face in the infirmary. Kinda busy with graduation stuff and the last of my school.
OIOC: Okay.
BIC: Arya was shivering at the top of the wall, in the blizzard. "Is anyone there?" She shouted into the blizzard again, but no one answered. She curled up, and wrapped her arms around herself, still shivering.
OOC: RACHY WHERE ARE YOU!!!!
*Never mind*
OOC: No, wait Faiy! Rach and I have a plan!
OOC: Ok sorry... :P
OOC: Is okay. But, I'll give you a clue - It was a small something to do with a bit of romance..... ;D I know; We're evil.
OOC: I have to wait for Dan and Wylder so...
OOC: Wylder? He isn't in this RP is he? Or am I going stark raving mad?
BIC: Perry was stood in Great Hall, he looked around, he liked that tapestry thing in the corner. He went, and stood in front of it, while the Sister went off somewhere. It was then he felt something strange, like a sudden urge to go outside. But he didn't want to go outside, it was freezing! In fact, even with the roaring fire in the hearth, Perry was cold. But, it seemed the mouse was telling him to go. Before he knew it, he was outside, walking through the snow. "I've gone mad, I must have." He muttered, as he trudged through thigh deep snow.
Soon he found himself on the walltop, he thought he saw something in front of him. Or was it someone? "Hello!" He called, "Is someone there?"
OOC: GONFF! I meant Gonff, jeez that was a big mistake
OOC: Yeah, cus I'm all confused, someone in another RP told Wylder to post here, so now he's all confused. That's a whole lot of confusion. ::)
Marshall walked past the fox seeming that he was not going to help.
''Come on now! Ill try to find it me self!''
He waved for them to hurry behind him. He got indoors and was running around to find this so called infirmary. Finally he came upon a room that had many beds and medicines in it.
''Um, put your friend here and ill well, uh,''
Misak nodded "Husband, not friend" she lay the unconscious caracal down on the bed and began pacing frenziedly around the room
OOC: Such grammar, many writing, wow :(
OOC: Yeah, cus I'm all confused, someone in another RP told Wylder to post here, so now he's all confused. That's a whole lot of confusion. ::)
OOC: MY MISTAKE!!!! BLAME ME!!!
BIC: Aerya looked up,m and saw someone standing there. She opened her mouth, but no words came through. "So cold. So, so cold....She choked out a barely intelligible, "Right...Here....." Then she swayed, and collapsed onto the figures legs.
OOC: I do suppose that's alright, Rachy?
Don't look here - I somehow posted the same post twice!!!
OOC: Corn, do we really need two of them? Also, could someone let Tauten in?
OOC: How on earth did I do that....? No, Han, we don't. May I assure I had no clue that I somehow posted the same post twice? And, I had forgotten about him.
Perry was knocked over by what seemed to be a squirrel. He pulled himself to his feet, and picked her up. "I'll get you inside! Don't worry! I'll get you inside!"
It was then he heard some banging somewhere, someone else at a gate? "I'll be there in a sec!" He shouted, and struggled down the stairs, and to the get. "Who's there!"
-----------------
Toka's eyes flickered, then opened fully. Ow, his head! It felt like someone was beating it with a hammer. He tried to sit up, but no, that hurt even more. He lay back down groaning, then groped around for his sword, and honing stone. Whenever he had a headache, he always sharpened his sword, it relaxed him. But it wasn't there, in fact, his belt wasn't there. Toka sat straight back up, not caring how pain full it was. there were other people in the room, some cats, and a fox, and a hedgehog who was hurrying over to him, and a mouse who was running over to the cats, and fox. Then he saw, he was in some sort of nightgown, and in a bed. Why a bed?
"Please lay down now!" The hedgehog encouraged, "Your in no state to sit up!"
Arnath sat in a corner staying out of the way. She smiled when she heard Toka wake up. She probably could do more to help but she did not know her way around the room just yet though she had already painted a pretty accurate picture of it in her mind.
Toka swore at the hedgehog, and told him to back off, and give him his sword back or he'd rip his head off. To put it lightly, the hedgehog was surprised. "Please, lie down. Your not well."
"Go away!" Toka screamed, and attempted to get out of the bed, and fell on the floor, he'd forgotten about his leg.
Arnath sighed and shook her head. Why was he so stubborn.
Arya felt herself being picked up, and relaxed. Whoever this was, surely he or she was friendly. If not, oh well. She'd deal with him or her later.
OOC: Han! I need you to post at some point!
OOC: You're probably going to have to wait....From what I can tell, he's not on much.
OOC: *sighs*
OOC: :-\
OOC: :P This is getting random.
OOC: I know! :o ;D
"Can we do introductions after I get in?" Shivered the Mara. "It's really cold out here." He hoped the Squirrel standing at the gate would let him in.
When Marshall saw Toka wake up, he ran out of the room. No way was he going to get killed by that beast. He walked around and saw the tapestry if Martin. He looked at it and saw that the mouse was a true warrior.
Perry, shivering, and worried about the maid in his arms, decided whoever this was, he needed to let them in. He flung open the gate, and not waiting for the beast, hurried off towards the Abbey.
Arya was struggling to keep conscious, and was failing rapidly. She opened her eyes a crack, and noticed that the person carrying her was a male squirrel, and then she blacked out. Again.
Perry flung the Abbey doors open, and ran through Great Hall towards the fireplace. He lay the unconscious squirrelmaid down in front of the fire.
Arya started regain consciousness, and stirred slightly. Then she opened her eyes, and remembered. "Oh, nuts! Who are you? Where am I?" She croaked, slightly panicking.
Perry, who had no idea what to do, tried to sooth her, and looked around for some Abbey beast. "Its ok, just keep calm, your with friends."
Arya calmed down slightly, but remained tense. "If you say so." She muttered, moving closer to the fire.
Tauten barely had time to open his mouth before the abbey dweller ran off. As Perry ran, Tauten caught sight of the squirrel being held by Perry. "Is that you, Arya?" called Tauten after them. Getting no reply, the Mara chased Perry, coming to a halt in front of a fireplace. Tauten, seeing that the Squirrel was Arya, started telling her off. "Why would you abandon me like that Arya? Especially in the middle of a snowstorm, and with that horrible creature still throwing rocks at me? I nearly froze to death out there...Though, you don' look so good yourself," Tauten turned to the other Squirrel and extended his paw. "I'm Tauten Err Rip. Thanks for letting me in."
Arya's eyes flashed, and then they turned to a very stormy shade of blue. "Oh, so it';s all MY fault for reacting to my instincts - And, trust me, they've saved my life plenty of time before - and forgetting that I'm actually traveling with some beast? When I've been traveling alone for quite some time?" She shouted, pausing to draw breath, "So, it's all MY faulty! And of course you can't share the blame! Oh, no! So, then, I'm supposed to beg forgiveness for forgetting that I'm not alone, for once?" She screamed, then standing up, then swayed, and had to steady herself by leaning on the squirrel that had helped her. "I'm sorry, sir. I'm afraid I never got your name. Arya. And I'm sorry for blowing up. But I'm not just going to lay down and take him yelling at me." She said, ignoring the Mara.
Perry felt extremely embarrassed, and confused. He nodded acknowledgment at the Mara, and winced as the squirrelmaid used him as a support. When she spoke to him, he smiled shyly, and said quietly, "Its a pleasure to meet you ma'am. My name's Perry Swiftbreeze."
------------------------
Toka was furious. He groped around on the floor, trying to get to his feet, and locate his sword at the same time. Not having any success, he screamed abuse at everyone in the room, and demanded his sword be returned to him. He was almost crying, he fought hard to stop tears pouring down his face. The only thing he had left of his father, and he'd lost it!
Misak was distracted from her soul-crushing worry and frenzied pacing by a particularly loud squirrel asking about a sword, she frowned, he crossbow had not been taken from her when she arrived and nor had Kaijo's sword, it lay on the floor next to his bed.
"Ma'am? Who you talkin' to?" Arya asked, then laughed, "Please, sir, call me Arya."
OOC: Yes, I know....Her second question has horrible grammar. That's what happen when you have a Southern accent and talk the words as you type.
Arnath could tell that his need for the sword was more that just the need for a weapon it was deeper than that a personal connection. She got to her feet and ran over to Toka on the floor and dropped down on her knees beside him. She tried to place a paw on his shoulder and said in a convincing tone. "The Redwaller's are keeping it safe for you, They will make sure nothing happens to it,"
Before he knew what he was doing, Toka struck out at her, yelling, "Well they can ****** well give it back!"
He was struggling to his feet again, and was succeeding, but was in terrible pain, everything about him was on fire.
--------------
Perry blushed, "Sorry ma'a...I went, Arya. Oh, and don't call me sir, just call me Perry."
Before Arnath knew what had happened she had fallen backward and hit her head hard on something behind her. She sat there dazed and the world fazed in and out she was not quite sure what was going on any more.
"Okay, Perry." Arya said, then smiled. She sat down again, so as not to lean on him any longer. "Do you live here?" She asked, trying to make conversation.
Perry shook his head, "No, I just got here."
------------------
Toka, through his burning pain, tried to walk across the room. He had to use beds, and other things to support himself, but he was managing it.
Arnaths head throbbed and she groped around lost trying to find something to tell her where she was.
Anise got off her bed, and went over to the blind mouse. "Are you alright? Come on, it's okay. Let's get you into a bed." She said calmly.
---------------------------------------------
"Really? I was hoping you might have the answer to a puzzle I have." Arya admitted.
Toka had reached the door, he groaned in agony. Grabbing at the door handle, he pushed the door open, but fell forward onto the floor.
--------------------------
"A puzzle?" Perry asked, suddenly interested.
{"Well, more like a strange riddle.
I've memorized it." She said, then took a breath and started to recite it:
"A red Place of refuge nested in green.
Along a brown path from afar can be seen.
A stand for the old for the week for the free.
The place where you'll meet them and start your journey.
It came on this, which I found in an old tree." She said, then started digging in her pack, that was somehow, miraculously, still on her back.
Tauten had gone quiet for a short time, listining to Arya and Perry speak while he composed a response to Arya's little flare up. "Listen, Squirrel," he snarled, suddenly aggresive. "I've talked almost no-one since I left my crew almost 2 seasons ago, so don't say you're not used to being on your own. I didn't abandon you with that Owl, or with that beast in the cave, even though I could easily left you to both without any problem. You say your instincts have saved you plenty of times before. What, did you realize that the Strawberry Jam was on the wrong shelf in your home? I've been on my ship, hunting pirates and traitors since I was 18 seasons, 7 seasons ago. That's where you need instincts to save your life, Arya."
Suddenly calm again, Tauten turned to Perry. "What is the name of this building and the woods surrounding it?" he asked. With the few creatures he had met on his travels, he had figured out that Redwall Abbey and Mossflower Woods were the places mentioned by his riddle, but he wasn't sure if this was the right place. Then again,he thought to himself, How many Abbeys are built in the middle of a forest.
OOC: Aw, sniped while typing this. Does this post still work with you two?
Arnath found her walking stick and grabbed hold of the bed post and struggled to her feet.
"Toka, wait! Your hurt. We are trying to help you!"
Perry listened to Arya thoughtfully, but before he could say anything, the other beast exploded at Arya, then he asked him a question. "I think we're in Redwall Abbey, in Mossflower Woods."
-----------------
Toka swore at Arnath, not caring anymore. And dragged himself onto his knees.
OOC: Yes, it does...Not, fun time!!
BIC: Oh, really? Well, boo for you! I haven't had a home since I was three, and vermin killed every. Single. Bit of family I've ever had! Now, let's see YOU try surviving on your own in the woods when you're that age! I've had to rely on my instinct ever since then, and let me tell you it wasn't anything as easy as moving strawberry jam to the right shelf! My life hasn't been a piece of cake, and I'm proud of it! So, you didn't abandon me with that owl! So you didn't abandon me with that thing! So what? Anything woodlander worth her salt isn't going to trust someone just because of that!" She said, glaring. Then she turn4ed to the fire, huddled close to it, and refused to say anything more, to either Perry or Tauten. At least, she woyuld have if they had spoken to her.
Perry was shocked, and just stood there. Not knowing what to do.
She rolled her eyes, and spoke, still staring at the fire. "You can sit down, Perry." She said, rather exasperated.
Perry sat down, not knowing what else to do.
Arya remained staring at the fire, a few flashbac=ks running through her mind. Then she shook her head, hard, and bansished them. She relaxed, then lost her balance, and almost hit Perry. She regained it by throwing out one of her paws, and then blushed.
Marshall had been listening in on the whole conversation. He was interested in the puzzle part, but could no help laughing at Arya yelling.
Arya heard laughing and, stood up, perhaps quicker than she needed to. "Mind cluing me in on the joke?" She asked sweetly, her paw sliding down to rest on her sword hilt.
Toka was struggling down the hallway, he had to find his sword, he just had to. He found some stairs, that went down into a big Hall thing, and saw some creatures down there. It was then Toka noticed about one of the squirrels. The squirrel was wearing his sword! Toka's blazed anger, and he strode down the stairs, not caring about the pain in his side, or head.
----------------
Perry winced as Arya almost hit him in the eye, then she was shouting at somebody. Perry turned round, and saw the crazy squirrel on the stairs. Perry jumped up, and looked around, had anyone else seen him?
OOC: Don't forget the blue fox.
BIC: Arya assessed the squirrel, but he didn't look too good.....But he was walking angrily towards her. "Yes? Do you want something?" She asked.
Some best came and helped Arnath over to a chair and she said "Some one should go after him," Several nurses had already done that and chased after the crazed squirrel
Toka swore at the stupid squirrelmaid in front of them, and pushed past, then walked straight up to Perry. "You have something of mine, give it back."
Perry let his paw wonder to the hilt of the sword pushed through his belt. The last thing this guy should be given was a sword. "No." Perry said, trying not to sound intimidated.
Toka swore at Perry, and before Perry knew it, he was laying on the ground, the sword taken off him, and the squirrel had his paws around his throat.
Arya was rubbing her shoulder, when the next thing she knew, Perry was on the ground, and the other squirrel was trying to strangle him. Instincts kicked in, and then she was boxing the squirrel's ears, then locking her arms around his waist and heaving.
OOC: Lots of PP there; Do you mind?
OOC no, as long as you don't mind some PP here.
BIC: Toka snarled as the stupid squirrelmaid made a feeble to pull him off this useless scarp of fur.
Toka jabbed backwards with his elbows, hoping to hit the squirrelmaid in the sides, then he kicked out at her footpaw's.
OOC: No....Another bit of PP here.
BIC: Arya yelped as she was elbowed in the sides, then her footpaws knocked out from under. Meanwhile, Perry's face was turning an unnatural color ((It'd have to be turned a funny color by now if he's not getting any air)) Her head hit the stones hard, and she winced, but got back up and tried another angle, and ran at him with her shoulder, hoping to ram into his side.
Marshall was scared when she heard him, but got scared when he saw the raging squirrel tackle the squirrels. He had to do something . He could not let those squirrels be hurt or killed. He picked up his axe and went towards the scene. When he saw Arya, crash into Toka, he tried to get back a bit.
Tauten had been a little shocked when a third squirrel came careening down the stairs, then started choking Perry. He drew his sword to help, but Arya seemed to be in charge. At least, she was until Toka threw her off. Tauten ran forward to help, but crashed into Marshall on his way.
Toka screamed in agony as Arya hit him in his bad side. He let go of Perry, and lay on the floor, swearing, and groaning. Clutching his sword, and side.
Perry got up coughing, and choking.
Arya noticed some helpers come running down the stairs, and stop, shocked. "I'm sorry." She apologized, "But he"-She gestured to Toka-" was choking Perry, so what was I supposed to do?" She asked.
The helpers ran over to Toka, but he lashed out at them with his sword, and they back off. Terrified.
Arya sighed, then asked Perry, "Are you alright? I think I need to go get his sword. Or at least grab his paws so he can't use it."
Perry looked at Toka, and swallowed hard. He had that kind of look in his eyes, like a venomous snake, that was about to bite you. "Um, maybe someone else should. He might kill you."
"Well, not like anyone would care if he killed me. Except those who'd have to clean up the mess." Arya said, not bitterly, but rather resigned. She walked over, and made a grab for his sword paw.
Toka punched at her face, and rolled up into a crouch Groaning as he did so, because it hurt so much.
Arya's head when flying back with a Snap! as Toka's fist connected solidly with her nose. She gingerly touched it, and almost screamed. Why, you-You!" She spluttered, growling. Then she shrugged off her pack, took off her sword, and handed then both to the Abbey Sisters. Arya then told them, "Please stand back. I don't want you to get hurt." She went to grab his arms, and yank them so that his paws were out in front of him, to better grab the sword.
OOC: D'you want me to change it? I'm not entirely sure what you mean by him rolling up into a crotch, so.......
OOC: Oops! Stupid auto-correct! Its meant to be crouch. ::) And could ya peeze change it, slightly. So she doesn't grab him.
OOC: Tis done!
Toka saw her coming, and tried to punch at her again, and swing his sword, screaming. "GET AWAT FROM ME, OR DIE!!!!!"
Arya dodged the punch, received a nasty cut from the sword, and then tried to get behind him, hampered because he'd cut her thigh. "I'm not going to get away from you, and I'd really rather not die." She said firmly.
Marshall fell when he was hit.
"Watch where ya goin, will ya?"
He soon stepped aside as another battle began. He had no clue what to do.
Toka was in agony. That last move had really hurt, and now he was breathing hard, and swearing under his breath. He didn't have time to get Arya.
Arya moved behind him, and put her paws over Toka's in the air. "You! Get the sword." She said, nodding towards one of the Abbey Sisters. "Oh, for heaven's sake! He he moves to slash you, I'll clamp my paws over his. Now, would you just do it?" She asked impatiently.
The Abbey Sister nervously ran forward, and grabbed at the sword. Toka saw her coming, and went for her like a mad beast, snarling, and shouting.
Arya clamped her paws over his, struggling to restrain him. It was no use, as he was stronger than her. "GET BACK!" She yelled, then let go, and went backwards, hitting the stone floor hard.
OOC: PP there - Should I change it?
OOC: No, your good.
BIC: Toka broke free, and ran forward. But then he fell to his knees again groaning, but still clutching his sword.
Perry had finally decided to do something. He loaded his bow, and aimed it at Toka, "Hand over the sword or die!" He called.
Of course he was bluffing, Perry had actually never killed anyone in his life. But he wasn't about to tell this guy.
Toka laughed harshly, "Go ahead!"
Darn! Perry thought, but kept aiming, "I'm not joking!"
"Yes, you are." Toka smirked, "You don't have it in you to kill me!"
Arya lifted her head, and groaned, then she took in the scene, and shouted, "Perry! Stop!" Then she groaned - The place was spinning. "You! Strange squirrel! If you put up the sword, and promise not to use it, then you can have it. Deal?" She asked, then groaned again. What was that dark spot that was coming bigger rapidly? Then her head clunkd down on the floor again.
OOC My, my! Arya's fainting a lot, isn't she? That'll have to change.
Toka didn't even listen to Arya, he got to his feet, and approached Perry. Toka held his sword by his side, ready to swing at any moment. Perry stood, riveted to the spot, still aiming, but his paws were beginning to shake. "Your too scared to kill me." Toka sneered, as he got closer. "You've never even use that thing for anything other than showing off. A beast has never died by your hand, or that thing. You have no idea what its like to kill."
Toka was standing straight in front of Perry now. He ran his finger down the arrow shaft, then pull it from the string, and Perry grip. Toka looked the shaft over, chuckled, and snapped it in half, and threw it on the floor.
Arya lifted her head, barely saw what was going, and started to very slowly crawl over to Toka. The nurse tried to stop her, and Arya kept going.
Perry bite his lip, but still didn't move. Toka laughed, and shoved past him. He then began looking round the room, "Interesting place."
Arya crawled over to Perry, and looked up at him questioningly, saw that he was fine, and she went on, and tugged hat he didn't appear to be hurt, so the squirrelmaid crawled past him, got to Toka, and tugged on his ankle lightly.
Toka rolled his eyes, and turned to the squirrelmaid, "What the **** do you want?"
He didn't say it to be rude, although he didn't care either way, it was just second nature to him to swear.
Marshall had had enough. The squirrel was terrifying everyone in the room. He picked up his axe and slowly walked towards Toka. When he turned his head, Marshall took the handle of his axe and held it in the air, about to hit him on the head.
OOC: NOOOOOO!!!!! I HAD A PLAN! YOU JUST RUINED IT!!!!!! >:( :'( >:( >:(
Marshall had had enough. The squirrel was terrifying everyone in the room. He picked up his axe and slowly walked towards Toka. When he turned his head, Marshall took the handle of his axe and hit him on the head as hard a s he could. It should not kill him, but at least take his focus of the squirrels.
OOC: Is this alright? I am just trying to get Marshall out there a bit.
OOC: Um, that is quite unfair. I didn't have a chance for Toka to react. If he just maybe, didn't include the hitting Toka part that would be good. Maybe you could have Marshall be about to hit him.
OOC:Fixed it. I hope thats better
OOC: Much. Now, may I put my revised plan into action?
BIC: Arya then tugged on the fox's leg, and shook her head. Then she replied to Toka: "I was just wondering, sir, if perhaps you'd calm down down and not try to hurt any beast if you can keep your sword?" She asked, as loudly as she could manage. It was just loud enough for Marshall and Toka to hear.
OOC: That's great Gonff, thanks.
BIC: Toka saw the fox coming, and was preparing to leapt at him with his sword, when he felt someone tucking at his leg...again.
He looked down at the squirrelmaid, and raised one eyebrow. He was quite taken aback by what she said. Calm? He was calm. Was he? And he hadn't hurt anybody really. That up start of a squirrel who he had half strangled had deserved it. Toka really didn't see what the problem was.
Arnath stood still at the foot of the stairs. She had heard most of it. "Toka! Stop Please stop!" She called to him her voice echoing strangely in the big room. A look of pain on her face. Not inner pain but a pain in her heart that longed to help Toka. Longed to heal him of the wounds of his past but knew not how.
Arya said, "Please." Again, then went limp, blackness coming over her vision.
OOC: And, for all of you you who DON'T know the plans Rach and I are making, no, she's not dead.
OOC: Sorry for being inactive. My family just drove up to Vail, Colorado, USA for two days. (Four hours in the car. :'()
BIC: Tauten was very impressed about how well Arya was handling the situation, until she started fainting. He frowned, wondering what had happened. Arya had been beaten up a bit, but nothing looked that serious. Fingering his sword, Tauten moved to step in as Arya lost consciousness again, but was beaten to the punch by a mouse who was standing at the foot of the stairs.
OOC: By the way, Vail. Go there if you like skiing. ;)
OOC: The reason she's fainting all over the place is because she almost froze to death a while ago, she's received a few cracks to the head, and all that banging down on the Abbey floor.
Toka had no idea what to do now. Arnath was calling to him, but she might as well have been across an ocean. And the squirrelmaid had fainted. Just like that, and that annoying pain in the *** of a squirrel was rushing over to her, being the knight in shining armour.
Toka finally decided he didn't much like all these people staring at him, he felt exposed, and suddenly self conscious. Something that happened rarely. So he stepped back, away from everybody. Then he made a dash for the stairs. He wanted to find his clothes, and bag. There was quite a few valuables in that bag. The valuables he'd stolen from those voles.
Blackness.....Deep, dark, blackness......Soothing, healing.....But there was something she was supposed to do.....What was it? She couldn't remember......Arya sunk deeper into that lovely darkness.......
Perry had rushed over to Arya's side, and held her head off the floor. He began talking to her, and trying to wake her up.
Arya struggled through the blackness. Someone was saying her name....She blinked, and groaned, "Oww.....Good night." Then her eyes closed again.
"For the love of mercy!" Perry groaned, and shook Arya, "Wake up!"
Arya merely groaned. Her eyelids flickered, and she finally opened them all the way. "What?" She asked irritably.
"Oh, thank goodness!" Perry sighed, "You need to wake up. You mustn't go to sleep this cold."
"Oh, alright! Fine!" Arya snapped, reaching up and gingerly rubbing her head.
Perry tried to help her up into a sitting position. It was only then that he realised that Toka had made a run for it.
-------------------
Toka raced up the stairs, and along a hallway. He had no idea where he was going, he was just guessing. Then he ran slap-bang into a group of babes. They stared at him in fascination, and Toka stared at them in horror. He hated kids, he just hated them! Mainly because he had no idea what to do about them, but he still just hated them.
Arya allowed herself to be up in a sitting position, and she went to wipe away some of the wetness that was on her face. It was sticky, o she drew her paw back to see....And saw blood. "What the-? What is with that squirrel?" She fumed.
Perry didn't know what to say, he wanted to go after Toka, but he didn't want to leave Arya. "Hey fox. Go after that squirrel now!"
-------------------
The Dibbuns made the first move, they all ran toward Toka cheering. Before Toka could blink, he'd been knocked to the floor, and was covered in Dibbuns. They all wanted to stroke his tail, and touch his strange fur, and play with his sword. Toka shoved them all off very quickly, then went back to running. His side was aching, and now he was being chased by little kids.
"Why don't you go?" Arya asked, raisning an eyebrow.
"Because I can't leave you by yourself here." Perry smiled, she was very pretty actually.
Arya's eyes turned a little stormy, as she said, "I'm no damsel in distress, you know." She couldn't help but notice that his eyes were a very nice color, and then she ordered herself AWAY from all those romantic thoughts. No need to get into that.
Perry chuckled, "Um, yes you kind of are."
She was really beautiful, Perry tried to guess how old she was. Probably around twenty or something like that.
"Alright then. I'm not a helpless damsel in distress." Arya decided, then giggled. Perry really had a nice laugh....
Arnath was brushed aside as Toka ran past her she turned and went to fallow but she was slowed down by her lack of knowledge of the place. Everything sounded odd and out of place inside the stone halls. She soon lost him and found herself wandering threw halls and past rooms and strange noises. She was lost.
Misak couldn't bear to look at Kaijo, he still looked like he was dying and he definitely had been dying when she'd got here. No one had seen to his wounds yet, the crazy squirrel had distracted them she supposed but now there was a healer coming so she could leave in good conscience. She left the infirmary and made her way down the corridors, not really planning on going anywhere just exploring really. She came across the blind mouse during her exploration "Hello there, are you looking for something?" she hissed, that was a poor choice of words
OOC: I am a mouse... but that is ok.
BIC:
Arnath hardly noticed the phrase 'looking' and frankly it didn't really bother her. She was more intent of finding Toka. "I need to find Toka, He was the crazy squirrel" She said Turning towards her "Did you see where he went?" She asked.
OOC: Ah sorry, edited
"The crazy squirrel?" the lynx shook her head, it was reflexive "No I have not seen him, not since he ran out of the infirmary. Would you like help finding him? It would do well enough to pass the time I think"
"Thank you I appreciate it, I am Arnath" She said. She listened carefully to her every move yet she could not place what she was. She was almost like a cat but unlike one she had ever met.
Misak nodded "My name is Misak Helmos. Tell me Arnath, what is your relationship with this 'Toka'? Or if there is none, why do you need to find him?"
"I found him in the forest and he fought off some foxes who would have surly killed or enslaved me if he had not intervened. he became severely injured and I helped to heal him then We came here together but he wont let them help him even though he is sick..." She paused for a moment and then continued "There is also the strange mouse in armor. He comes to me when I need help. He told me to watch over Toka, That he needed me," She stopped and said no more she realized that perhaps she had said to much and the stranger would not understand.
Misak raised her eyebrow "It did not seem to me that he was a kind creature however if he did such a thing for you perhaps he has a good heart" Misak chuckled appreciatively at the next comment "Where I come from, people who have such visions are regarded as wise, closer to the gods. I myself have no religion however perhaps there is something to them as their visions are almost always accurate or meaningful in some way, I do not attribute this to gods but supernatural in origin possibly. I believe that everything we do is predestined, mapped out for us on the universe's canvas and those that have such visions are more attuned to these paths and have some level of... psychic potential" she stopped and chuckled "Forgive me, my quaint ideas may seem strange and you probably were not asking for my views on the supernatural"
Toka ducked into a run, and slammed the door. Breathing hard, he slid to the floor, trying hard to keep everything under control. He was failing, his head hurt, his side hurt, everything danced in front of his eyes, and instead of hearing things clearly like he usually did, everything was just one jumbled up noise.
Toka's breathing became more laboured, and he was soon lying on the floor, darkness creeping up on him.
------------------
Perry was now feeling rather awkward. He didn't know what to say, or what to do. So he just said the first thing that popped into his head. "So, what brings you to this Abbey place then?"
"That puzzle0riddle thingy IO read earlier. Why...?" Arya asked, on her guard now.
"Oh, yeah. Me too." Perry was feeling really awkward now.
"Wait, you found a riddle too?" Arya asked, her brow furrowing as she tensed up. It was automatic, really.
"Yeah. At my house back south. Where'd you find yours?" Perry asked, he'd noticed how stiff Arya had gone.
"In a tree trunk." Arya said warily. Then she decided to change the subject: "So, you lived in the south?"
"Um, yeah. In Southward. Near the sea actually." Perry smiled, remembering his home.
"The sea? Really? I've always wanted to see the sea." Arya said, lightening up and smiling.
OOC: Back!
BIC: Marshall slowly crept off when Perry told him to. He had tried to follow Toka, but got lost. He found the Dibbuns, and was got held up.
Perry nodded, and smiled dreamily, "Yeah, its beautiful. I live near a fishing village, and sometimes go out on the boats, and help."
"Oh, That sounds wondeful." Arya said, imagining the scene....
OOC: Faiy?
OOC: Sorry I didn't see your post. :P
BIC:
"That's ok," She said she was in fact some what interested in her views even if she did not believe them herself. She then stopped She had heard something. A door closing. She turned down a hall and when she came to the place she could hear breathing behind on of them. It was Toka.
She knocked on the door gently just behind his head and spoke gently but firmly "Toka! Would you please let me in?"
Toka heard a voice behind him, but he had so little energy he didn't do anything. He just lay there, breathing.
----------------------
"Hmmm." Perry nodded, "I'm kinda sad I left."
Arya just smiled, not knowing what to say. Good grief, her head hurt.
"Toka are you OK?" She asked.
Misak looked at her quizically "How do you know it is him? All I hear is breathing"
Arnath nodded "Yes but it is his breath, he is in pain" She said softly "Let me help you,"
"Just................leave........me........alone." Toka said barely above a whisper, then he blacked out again.
------------------
Perry noticed Arya pain-filled facial expression. "Are you alright? Or do you want to see a healer?"
OOC: Guys, I'm thinking about starting part two soon. I think we're all here, (except Faiy's other character, but I think she's coming later) So if we just finish these bits off, then I'll be able to start part two.
OOC: Okay!
BIC: "They look a bit busy. It's nothing, really. My head just hurts." Arya said lightly, trying to make it sound like no big deal.
Arnath started and opened the door. He sounded in a very bad shape. and He fell threw into the door way. "We need to get him to the infirmary she said feeling his head.
OOC: Sounds good. Why don't I make Raxanna come round At the beginning of Part 2
OOC: Ok. And actually, I think that's a great place to leave it. ;D
