basically create a faction, then claim the land, then, to avoid greifing, or at least narrow it down, make the faction private.

Yeah, i can. Take a wooden ax, then mark a boundary, say you want to protect a box, you must to the lower corner, then the upper diagonal corner. Then type /region define (name of structure)

Lt. shadow's retractable ceiling lights are fixed, there's a bit of a delay, but repeaters are the only way to keep the separate wires from bleeding together.
