How doth the little crocodile
Improve his shining tail,
And pour the waters of the Nile
On every golden scale!
How cheerfully he seems to grin,
How neatly spreads his claws,
And welcomes little fishes in
With gently smiling jaws!

"You are old, Father William," the young man said,
"And your hair has become very white;
And yet you incessantly stand on your head—
Do you think, at your age, it is right?"

"In my youth," Father William replied to his son,
"I feared it might injure the brain;
But now that I'm perfectly sure I have none,
Why, I do it again and again."

"You are old," said the youth, "As I mentioned before,
And have grown most uncommonly fat;
Yet you turned a back-somersault in at the door—
Pray, what is the reason of that?"

"In my youth," said the sage, as he shook his grey locks,
"I kept all my limbs very supple
By the use of this ointment—one shilling the box—
Allow me to sell you a couple?"

"You are old," said the youth, "And your jaws are too weak
For anything tougher than suet;
Yet you finished the goose, with the bones and the beak—
Pray, how did you manage to do it?"

"In my youth," said his father, "I took to the law,
And argued each case with my wife;
And the muscular strength which it gave to my jaw,
Has lasted the rest of my life."

"You are old," said the youth, "one would hardly suppose
That your eye was as steady as ever;
Yet you balanced an eel on the end of your nose—
What made you so awfully clever?"

"I have answered three questions, and that is enough,"
Said his father; "don't give yourself airs!
Do you think I can listen all day to such stuff?
Be off, or I'll kick you down stairs!"

is there a character limit?  have i passed it if it exists?

Most Impressive! I'm taken aback at it! Did you make it up? But it's still no match for me. ;-)

I go through the woods,
familiar of the way,
something lurks in the ol woods,
a cawing mocking jay.

He screams and he screeches,
earslpitting cry,
I say it inevitabley it would make
some die.

I go through the woods,
not afraid of a bug,
something lurks in the ol woods,
behind me I felt a tug.

A spider, arachnid,
five hundred feet tall,
why it's eyes were like giant bowling balls.

I walk through the woods,
I hear a ,"Creeee.",
something lurks in the ol woods,
a crane eating a bee.

Crane fought and it cried,
but soon it was victor,
the giant bee dead,
the bee had never tasted nectar.

I run through the woods,
a little bit shaken,
something lurks in the ol woods,
but why do I smell bacon?

A little cottage,
at the end of the woods,
well I live there,
with lots o' Redwall's goods.

REVIVE!! :D

I really like this poem, As I Walked Out One Evening by W. H. Auden. It may even by my favorite.

As I walked out one evening,
  Walking down Bristol Street,
The crowds upon the pavement
  Were fields of harvest wheat.

And down by the brimming river
  I heard a lover sing
Under an arch of the railway:
  "Love has no ending.

"I'll love you, dear, I'll love you
  Till China and Africa meet,
And the river jumps over the mountain
  And the salmon sing in the street,

"I'll love till the ocean
  Is folded and hung up to dry
And the seven stars go squawking
  Like geese about the sky.

"The years shall run like rabbits,
  For in my arms I hold
The Flower of the Ages,
  And the first love of the world."

But all the clocks in the city
  Began to whirr and chime:
"O let not Time deceive you,
  You cannot conquer Time.

"In the burrows of the Nightmare
  Where Justice naked is,
Time watches from the shadow
  And coughs when you would kiss.

"In headaches and in worry
  Vaguely life leaks away,
And Time will have his fancy
  Tomorrow or today.

"Into many a green valley
  Drifts the appalling snow;
Time breaks the threaded dances
  And the diver's brilliant bow.

"O plunge your hands in water,
  Plunge them in up to the wrist;
Stare, stare in the basin
  And wonder what you've missed.

"The glacier knocks in the cupboard,
  The desert sighs in the bed,
And the crack in the teacup opens
  A lane to the land of the dead.

"Where the beggars raffle the banknotes
  And the Giant is enchanting to Jack,
And the Lily-white Boy is a Roarer,
  And Jill goes down on her back.

"O look, look in the mirror,
  O look in your distress;
Life remains a blessing
  Although you cannot bless.

"O stand, stand at the window
  As the tears scald and start;
You shall love your crooked neighbor
  With all your crooked heart."

It was late, late in the evening,
  The lovers they were gone;
The clocks had ceased their chiming,
  And the deep river ran on.

Thanks, MatthiasMan, for the avatar!

My favourite poems are The Man in the Moon Stayed up too Late, Fastitacalon, The Stone Troll and The Hoard all by J.R.R. Tolkien

When the moon was new and the sun young
Of silver and gold the gods sung
In the green grass they silver spilled
And the white waters they with gold filled
Ere the pit was dug or hell yawned
Ere dwarf was bred or dragon spawned
There were elves of old and strong spells
Under green hills in hollow dells
They sang as they wrought many fair things
And the bright crowns of the elf kings
But their doom fell and their song waned
By iron hewn and by steel chained
Greed that sang not nor with mouth smiled
In dark holes their wealth piled
Graven silver and carven gold
Over elvenhome the shadow rolled

I won't put the whole poem because it is loooooooooooooooooong. Also I made up rythms for singing all of Tolkiens poems (because they are far too long to just be spoken) and surprisingly they actually work
"In the meantime, no one should roam the camp alone. Use the buddy system."
"Understood." Will looked at Nico. "Will you be my buddy?"
"You're a dork," Nico announced.
