Post by: Tam and Martin on May 07, 2013, 09:07:52 PM
Ok I finally got my nerve up to make a Fan works topic for myself. I play the violin and I'm pretty good at it so I made a topic for what I play. I play alot of classical pieces and some other things but the main reason I posted thi topic here is because I know how to play some Redwall songs. I also know a few other themes which some of you may recognize. I will post what music I know and I'm not sure if I'll put videos up- I have to think on that. Anyway a list of themes I know how to play:

Song of the River (From the Redwall book Salamandastron): All of it

Martin Song (From the Redwall book Salamandastron): All of it

The Song of the Long Patrol (From the Redwall Book The Long Patrol):All of it

Pull boys Pull (From the Redwall book Salamandastron): All of it

If you Dare (From the redwall book The Long Patrol): Most of it

Brooky's song (From the Redwall Book Rakkety Tam) All of it

Heave Haul Away (From the Redwall Book Loamhedge) All of it

Dreamwork Dragons Theme: All of it

Ninjago Theme: Not so much

Daniel Boone Theme: All of it

Pirates of the Caribbean theme: He's a pirate: Just started working on it.

Canon in D: All of it

Canon Rock by Jerry C.: So Close!

The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit themes including:

Misty Mountains Cold (from the book The Hobbit): All of it

Song of the Lonely Mountain (From the book The Hobbit): Most of it

Eowyn's song (from the book The Lord of the Rings): All of it

The King of the Golden Hall (Rohan) (From the book The Lord of the Rings): All of it

Haldir's Lament (From the Book The Lord of the Rings): All of it

Concerning Hobbits (From the Book The Lord of the Rings): All of it

In Dreams (From the book The Lord of the Rings): Most of it

A Toast in the Shire (from the book The Lord of the Rings): Most of it

The Steward of Gondor (From the book The Lord of the Rings): Not much

Edge of Night (From the book The Lord of the Rings): Most of it

I've tried recording them and they don't turn out right. I'll try to get them on. It's actually not that hard to find out the music to the songs. I just sometimes pick them up. It also helps to listen to the songs because then I just start moving my fingers aroound in a pattern then I eventually get the song.

I also play Piano (Mostly All the Way), Guitar (Most of the Way), Mandolin (If you can play a violin you can play a Mandolin), Cello (I'm a beginner), and Banjo (One Song). A small bit of Ukelele could fit im there.

P.S. I updated the songs at the first post.

I also play all these themes by ear which means I listen to them and then pick them up on the violin.

I think if you scroll up to the very top of this thread, there should be a row of options above your first post, like "reply," "notify," "send topic," etc. I think the second one (right after "reply") should be "+ poll." Once you click on that, you can go from there.

Out of curiosity, for the Redwall music is there an official "book" or did you have to figure them out by ear? I've tried to do a couple songs by ear on the piano but I wasn't very good.  Oh, and I can play a bunch of those LoTR pieces too! (I think my piano teacher is getting a little sick of my obsession with LoTR songs.)

Alright I finally am able to get some music up! It is not of me playing it by myself but me with my symphony. I'll just tell you a bit about my symphony.

I play at the Suncoast Symphony Orchestra.(Click the link for the website: http://suncoastsymphony.org/index.html (http://suncoastsymphony.org/index.html)) Most of the musicians are older people. Actually, me and a friend of mine are the only people who are under the age of twenty and only about five others under the age of forty. We played recently at a Church and I am about to post a piece we just played.

I did not record this nor anyone else I know but I found that someone put it on youtube so I will post it here.

So here it is:

I am in the violin section towards the left but you probably can't see me because of a person's head blocking me  :P. Anyway, I can't remember the name of this song (Classical songs have such terrible name I can't remember  ::))

Oh Well, I hope you guys like it  ;)

New music! Sorry it's not Christmas music because I'm waiting for my sister to put it on Youtube but it is a song I played back in November that some other random person put on Youtube so here it is. The song is Legende which has a solo violinist in it so the lady that is standing up is performing a solo. Here goes:

I am depressed.. I played violin in 6th grade and was first chair. Then we moved, and the new middle school did not have an orchestra program. Now, I am in an orchestra at my high school that consists of a viola and three violins, and our viola player serves as our director. I am so rusty at playing, and my parents are too cheap to pay for lessons, and so am I.

There is my depressing story for the day.

Great job on the music, Tam!

I am in the violin section towards the left but you probably can't see me because of a person's head blocking me  :P. Anyway, I can't remember the name of this song (Classical songs have such terrible name I can't remember  ::))

Oh Well, I hope you guys like it  ;)

It's the Overture from Carmen. I had to look it up, too.

You all play some tough stuff! That's really impressive. And you sound good, too.

In those Christmas concert videos, are you the string player in the middle of that row where the camera's focused most of the time? I can't tell if that's your section or if those are violas...

Good news!

Now that I have a photobucket account, I can upload some of my symphony videos!  :D

More music coming!

(BTW, if you have watched the movies Mission impossible, or Gladiator you will like what's coming!)
