Title: For the Throne - Discussion
Post by: The Skarzs on February 19, 2016, 06:08:35 AM
  Out of the shores of the western ocean that encroached upon the land of Plantarre grew a mountain, a tall cone rising into the sky as a monolith against the ravages of time. Its magma had cooled eons before, and it was as cold beneath as it was to the touch above. But when the lava receded, it left tunnels through the whole mountain, twisting and winding like burrows of massive worms. Creatures discovered this mountain, and its wonders inside, and scooped out the touch passages to leave neater, walkable paths through the rock. It became known as the Mountain of the Fire Lizard, and later, Sarahadoron.
  Through the years, creatures settled around it on the dunes, using the ocean as a source of food, and the mountain as a landmark, and as a home. Eventually they settled further inland, but the mountain was ever a site for communities and centralization; it was almost their origin.
  As time went on, these creatures came under the rule of a king, who lead justly enough, and the land prospered for many years to come. That was until a beast from across the oceans came with fierce fighters and extreme viscousness, making their way all but unopposed into the very heart of Sarahadoron, and to the king. The only indication of what could have happened in that encounter was when the king's mutilated body was found far below at the base of the mountain, where he had been tossed out into the expanse.
  This intruder, a monitor lizard with rust-hued scales by the name of Kraoleck, took the throne of Sarahadoron as his own. The citizens of Plantarre could do little to resist this new dictator, as fear spread like wildfire, the poison of the mind. Kraoleck said it was for their survival that they serve his needs. Indeed, he convinced many of a land to the north who would surely sweep south into their land as an army, and kill indiscriminately; they would need to aid their king. Those who were strong enough to work were put to work. Those who worked already worked harder. Creatures became recluses into their own homes after dark, no social visits or rejoicing. It did not matter whether this northern threat was real or not. They were in the midst of it all no matter where they turned.
  But was it true? Was there really an evil peoples who would come as barbarians through their land? Furthermore, was this king, the monitor who claimed to be the true Fire Lizard, really one who would protect them in their time of need? Some would question their leader, quietly, and wonder if there were some way their land could be ridden of their trials.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I want to start RPing again! Hopefully this will get some people. . . :P
As you may have noticed, this is an alternate universe to the Redwall universe. Names such as Mossflower and Salamandastron have been replaced by Plantarre and Sarahadoron respectively. There is no castle or fortress resembling Redwall or Kotir, Martin and his sword never existed, and this is an entirely different chain of events to effect the history of the land.
Anyways, there are a few things I need to mention. First, all beasts are equally good or bad as the next. That means, good vermin and bad woodlanders are allowed (and encouraged). I would like to keep the two groups to be relatively even amounts, so if you want two characters, one of each would be nice. Accents are optional.
The characters that need to be taken are:
King Kraoleck and some of his creatures; they may be monitors, if you like, or any other species.
The leader of some renegades/outlaws, as well as some of his creatures.
Some citizens who get caught up in some way.
Foreigners are allowed, but any species not native to the books must be approved by me, and they must choose their side as cautiously as any foreigner would.
I may take some of these, if need be.
Character sheet:
Name:
Species:
Age:
Gender:
Weapons: (Only if they are part of King Kraoleck's army or part of the rebels.)
Occupation:
Appearance:
Personality:
History: (Optional)
Rules:
1. IF YOU JOIN THIS RP, THEN YOU AGREE TO CONTINUE IT UNLESS YOU CONTACT ME TO SAY YOU ARE LEAVING. That means, doing your best to post when you can.
2. Make worthwhile posts. Quality over quantity, but quantity over minimum.
3. Think of your own ideas to implement! The GM can have a general idea, but they can only do so much, and this RP is supposed to be interactive. I have no idea where you guys will help this lead to.
4. Have fun!
My characters
Name: King Kraoleck
Species: Monitor
Age: Early 40s.
Gender: Male
Weapons: A handsome longsword with a brass hilt set with an onyx gem on either side. It is carried in its scabbard by a sharkskin belt
Occupation: King of Sarahadoron
Appearance: Kraoleck is a monitor, with dry scales covering his body from snout to tail tip, all brown with a rusty red tint, though his neck and belly are just a plain light brown. His eyes are dark gold with slitted pupils, never blinking under his thick brows. His right top fang has been replaced with a gold replica that sticks out over his lower lip. He utilizes his physique to intimidate others, as he is by no means small or weak, being a monitor, and his appearance is quite frightening to many.
The king's apparel includes an embroidered yellow open front tunic with no sleeves, fastened at his waistwith a light chain, as well as his sword belt. He wears a blue cape when he is out of his fortress. During the winter months he wears longer clothing, though he stays inside the whole time due to the cold.
Personality: The monitor is a good portion of what one would not want as a leader: Tight-fisted, impatient, fire-tempered, and not prone to mercy. He has an obsession with being in control, almost an authority disorder, and he will do a lot to make sure it stays that way, either through trickery and fear, or physical means. He can be very sadistic, especially to prisoners, and may take care of his victims personally.
History: Born as a prince on an island to the south and west of Plantarre, Kraoleck eventually inherited the reign from his father, and immediately started an ambitious campaign to leave the increasingly populated island. They already had ships from pirates and other seafarers, and soon nearly the whole island's inhabitants were sailing out over the seas. After much time of hopping from one speck of land to another, Kraoleck discovered through word of ear of a land called Plantarre, and he coveted it for himself. But just this once, he could be patient, and devised plans to ensure his reign would be untroubled. . .
Other: He is not a beast to be taken lightly in most any field, as he is cunning in planning, as well as a skilled swords beast.
Name: Fauken (Fow-kin)
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Species: Wildcat
Appearance: Fauken may not be a summer rose, with an eyepatch over her left eye and the scar passing above and below it, but the right side of her face shows that she could be an attractive creature, with a pale blue eye set in her smooth speckled fur. She wears a light brown skirt and a green long-sleeved tunic, as well as a brown cloak. Around Fauken's waist is a satchel that has most things she needs, like some food, medical supplies, and a sling. Lastly, at her left side is a big knife which she uses for everything.
Personality: She is a very independent creature, always certain that she doesn't need help from anybeast, and quite content to travel around as she pleases. She doesn't trust others easily, especially with her past experiences. A wanderer and rebel at heart, she finds the idea of kings and queens to be frustrating and senseless, and will doubtlessly hate Kraoleck especially.
History: When Fauken was young, her father, who was a widower, took her off with him to find a better place to live. While he wasn't the most caring father, when they were attacked by a group of vermin who they had had a disagreement with, he defended her with his life and made sure she was off safe, though she bore the mark of battle on her eye. She hadn't seen him since. Now she wanders the land, stopping every so often for supplies when she needs them and moving on. Currently she finds herself near the logging village at the outskirts of the Plantarre Forest.
Other: Wants to travel northwards after a short stop near Sarahadoron.
Very interesting Skarzs, I'm glad some more people are beginning to want to RP again because I was afraid the board had lost interest to a lot of people. But thanks to you, and Ashleg it might be coming back up in popularity.
So before I begin making characters I needed to make sure this idea fitted into the lore of this RP. Would there be a set of creatures who worked in Sarahadron under the good king, but once Kraoleck showed up nothing really changed for them? They just fell under the new leadership willingly, and their lives remained mostly the same? Or would Kraoleck have killed all those serving under the King?
I want to make a mouse character who is like the steward in charge of the castle staff that ran the place, and when Kraoleck attacked he simply moved from one ruler to the next letting old loyalties lie dormant. Would that be acceptable?
Yes, that would work fine. The only change a creature like that would see is the way the citizens on the outside would be treated. The king needs servants in his "castle".
Excellent I'll get to work then. Oh and yeah, castle, mountain fortress same difference. :P
Oh and one more little question how would the citizens on the outside be living? Are they in a city, spread out settlements, a few towns?
I might go for a leader or second-in-command for the resistance. Is the resistance small? Do they have a hideout? Tactics? Weapons?
The closest, and largest, is a wide town that is set up more to the eastern side of the mountain. Farmers travel a couple miles inland in the morning to work on crops, then return in the evening. Others go into the mountain to mine in the lower caverns for ores. Higher class individuals actually own some of the fields that are worked, or are in charge of the labor, so they have life a little easier, though most are puppets of the king.
There are other towns, one on the edge of the Plantarre forest that is mostly a lumber producing town, chopping down trees, making charcoal, furniture, and other things. Another is more north on the shore near the mouth of the Tarre River, a marine town.
The resistance is indeed small, and while they are a resistance, they're little more than pests in the eyes of Kraoleck. At their largest they number a little less than one hundred creatures, and the damage they can do is minimal. They have a decent assortment of weapons, though mostly bows, knives, and javelins, as swords would not be something they could get their paws on unless they kill a soldier. Others, working citizens, may agree that life could be better without their new king, but there are few who dare risking their own lives when the rebels are such a minority they could be wiped out at any time.
And that is how the king wants it to stay.
That would be a serious spoiler Sage. We must play the RP to find out. ;)
 Hm, so I got Ordis all finished and I have a second character all written up as well. But I'll wait and see what other people create before posting him. I'm thinking I could make changes depending on certain attributes, gender count ect.
Anyway here he is Ordis Fletcher.
Ordis Fletcher
Name: Ordis Fletcher
Species: Mouse
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
Weapons: He has no real weapons, however he carries a small pen knife.
Occupation: Steward in Sarahadoron
Appearance: Ordis is true to the looks of most mice with a thin body, a thin furless tail and little bald paws. However his passive face and small stature allows him to move almost unnoticeably amongst larger creatures. His clothing is a plain but comfortable yellow uniform with long sleeves that can be easily folded back. His footpaws are shod in plain cloth slippers that allow him to move quietly, and also keeps the floors from being smudged by his paw prints. Around his waist is often a belt covered in pouches containing messages, cleaning supplies, ink and writing equipment, and long lists of tasks to be done, purchases to be made, and other such things. His fur is a light tan, with white splotches on his arms and between his ears.
Personality: While not the best houseguest Ordis is outspoken and commanding amongst the castle staff. However he is also very responsive to orders and does almost any task willingly. This mentality to change roles from commander to servant gave him his original position as Sarahadoron steward. A position he is inwardly very proud of, and would sacrifice many things for. This among other reasons kept him alive, and in his position after Kraoleck's takeover.
History: Ordis is a creature who was born to serve not only does he do it well, but he enjoys it. During his youth amongst the settlements of Plantarre Ordis got the chance to serve one of the king's advisors while the advisor did an inspection of the communities work. Pleased with Ordis' efforts the advisor brought him back to Sarahadoron to serve there. Ordis moved though the serving ranks quickly, and soon became assistant to the steward. After an accident the original steward was forced to retire to a loftier, but less active position, the rank of Steward fell to Ordis who fell to his responsibilities eagerly.
After serving for some time as Steward Ordis became respected and trusted by both the serving staff and the nobility. It was this respect that save Ordis' life, and his position. During the initial takeover Ordis managed to organize the staff to switch from one ruler to the next keeping many of them alive. Kraoleck noticed this swift action, and left Ordis in his positon to continue keeping Sarahadoron running smoothly.
Other: Ordis has a small family, a wife and daughter who live in Sarahadoron. His wife serves meals, and his daughter is in training and does basic chores.
Species: Squirrel
Age: 30-ish
Gender: Female
Weapons: (Only if they are part of King Kraoleck's army or part of the rebels.) Bow, knife.
Occupation: Rebel leader
Appearance: Sturdy slim gray squirrel with green eyes. Wears a sand-colored tunic with sandals.
Personality: Smart, sensible and stolid. Doesn't have the best sense of humour and is very business like. Loyal and very order-oriented.
History: (Optional)
Other:
I'll join this when I've made my characters.
EDIT: here they are
Name: Anna Mudscale
Species: Moniter
Age: Maybe about late 30's
Gender: Female
Weapons: a spear and a small shield that's usually slung across her back
Occupation: In King Kraoleck's army
Appearance: She has mud-colored scales and eyes that resemble a swamp. She's about average height and wears light, leather armor.
Personality: She doesn't have much of a sense of humor, and is very loyal to King Kraoleck. She won't hesitate to do something if they're his orders, even if she doubts it's the right thing. Though she still tries to take care of Reed.
History: She found Reed when he was just a young fox and raised him until he could look after himself. Though she still tries to take care of him when she has time. She loves him as though he were her own son, but he worries her with his reckless behaviour. Anna would like nothing more than for Reed to join King Kraoleck's army and join her in serving him.
Name: Reed
Species: Fox
Age: late teenage years
Gender: Male
Weapons: A small, rusted knife he hides under his bed
Occupation: He's a fisher and secretly a part of the rebellion.
Appearance: He's a rather tall young fox, and his fur is slightly darker than a normal fox's fur. His eyes are bright blue, and he's fairly strong. He wears a pair of ragged shorts that are way too big and uses a rope as a belt.
Personality: The care-free fox rarely seems sad, and almost always has a smile on his face. He has a problem with stealing, and no matter how much she yells at him, he doesn't change.
History: His parents died when he was young and Anna raised him. He views her as a mother and respects her even though she is loyal to Kraoleck. He would never want her to find out that he's a part of the rebellion.
Name: Aaron Snowfur
Species: Artic Fox
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Weapons: Katana and a curved dagger
Occupation: none
Appearance: A bit taller than average, has a slim build but is muscular, has white fur and blue eyes
Personality: Cool and calculating, a bit arrogant
History: Son of a high-ranked officer, Aaron has never known discomfort in his life. However, unknown to his parents, he is a strong supporter of the resistance. He hopes to be able to put the sword training he received "for sport" to good use.
Other: Aaron isn't able to ask his parents for any help for the resistance since they support the current government positions. Not a power play issue. :P
Occupation: Innkeeper and smuggler.
Appearance: His face is wrinkled, and his fur is a light brown. He wears a faded blue and brown tunic.
Personality: He is kindly and purposeful. He does not like to lie, or to say no.
History: He grew up in a town with his father, an innkeeper, and inherited his inn after his passing. He lived a fairly normal life which changed after he met the leader of the rebels a long while ago. He saw justice in their cause and agreed to smuggle supplies and the occasional weapon to them.
Other: He smuggles weapons and supplies to the rebels.
Character sheet:
Name: Marth Longleg
Species: Hare
Age: Early Adulthood.
Gender: Male
Weapons: Durable Wooden Staff, doubles as a farm-tool of sorts. He also keeps a sling hidden in his garden shed.
Occupation: Farmer and House Builder. Wants to become apart of the resistance.
Appearance: Marth stands tall, nearly 6 ft in fact. His body is tough, his paws hardened from years of tilling the soil and woodworking. He often wears a worn-out tunic while he works, but when he wants to look presentable, he wears a soft, blue tunic. He's well-built for any challenge, although he does not know much in terms of hand-to-hand combat, relying mostly on his strong legs to deliver blows.
Personality: Marth is a friendly hare who likes to help his friends whenever he can. If a stranger should stop by, whether it be the smallest mouse or the most menacing of Monitors, he will dedicate his time to making sure that he or she is comfortable. He loves doing whatever he can to help, such as making repairs to homes, or simply helping another with their daily chores. As with any hare, the only thing he asks in return for his favors is a good meal.
History: Marth was raised mainly by his mother, his father leaving them, dedicating his life to exploration and discovery. As a teenager, his mother died from an incurable sickness, leaving him to tend to his home and garden by himself. He spends most of his days tending to his field and home, even after the Kraoleck and his Monitors arrived. Although, after this event, he grew weary of their presence and wanted to join the resistance, knowing that this land rightfully belongs to him and his neighbors.
Other: He likes food.
Name: Rusk Streamdiver
Species: Otter
Age: 45
Gender: Male
Weapons: (Only if they are part of King Kraoleck's army or part of the rebels.) Otter javelin
Occupation: Second-in-Command of the resistance, also the owner of a commercial armory often used by Kraoleck for new weapons.
Appearance: An aging otter, Rusk had some grey hairs but maintains the old gleam in his eyes. Blue irises are the highlight of the otter's face, but his rudder is probably the most damaged part of his whole body. Scarred by fighting and the type of work he does, Rusk hides his scars while in civilian pose by keeping a realistic cloth cover on his rudder, making it look good as new.
Personality: A jolly sort of otter, as most go, Rusk is still deadly with a sling and even deadlier with his trusty throwing javelin. He despised Kraoleck and his reign, witnessing many killings in his resistance lifetime. His line of work includes many deals with the filthy Moniters, and he keeps a straight face when speaking to any of the tyrant's forces.
History: (Optional) Meh, I'll probably reveal it later. (If that's okay)
Other: N/A
By the way, I'm planning for making him die. If anybody else has a resistance character (besides Corn) than maybe that charrie cold be promoted? (Not trying to make plans here, just suggesting)
Lady Ennalee Silvertail
Name:  Lady Ennalee Silvertail
Species:  Stoat
Age:  21
Gender:  Female
Occupation:  Landowner.  She owns a moderately-sized farm that employs about thirty workers.
Appearance: Ennalee is slim and tan-furred, with a streak of white running down her left forearm.  Besides her vivid green eyes, she is not exactly pretty, just plain-looking.  She does not actually have a silver tail; it's a family name that refers to some distant ancestor.  Even though Ennalee has a rather well-to-do position, she usually wears simple clothes.  Generally it's a dark blue tunic tied with a black sash.
Personality:  Ennalee has strong convictions but is too afraid to speak her mind about them.  She hates Kraoleck with a helpless hatred and wishes things were as they were in her childhood, when everything was free and right.  She hasn't dared to seek out the Resistance after what occurred seasons ago.  She is somewhat serious-natured, goes for lots of walks around the surrounding area, and reads a lot to drown out reality.  Ennalee doesn't really care about titles and rank - she prefers not to be called Lady.
Life often feels hopeless because of her all-consuming helplessness and fear of reprisal if she ever tried to take a stand, so she tries not to think about the current situation more than she can help it.  Sometimes she wonders if it was something she did that caused her father's death: maybe she gave away his Resistance involvement all those seasons ago by something she let slip accidentally.  That thought hurts her horribly.
Now, whispers are going around her farm about one or two workers who might be involved with the Resistance.  She has ignored the rumors... so far.
History:  When the monitor lizard took over Sarahadoron several seasons ago, her father, just a regular woodlander, wisely pretended to swear fealty to him (seeing that open resistance was futile) and received a farm in return.  Secretly, however, he got involved with the Resistance, helping to provide weapons and making plans.  Ennalee, his only family, sometimes helped with this, but she never met with any other Resistance members.  Somehow the king found out about her father's involvement, but Ennalee and her father lived in blissful ignorance of this for quite a while.  Then one day, when Ennalee was in her mid-teens, soldiers appeared and dragged her father outside, demanding information on the Resistance.  When he stubbornly refused to say a word, the soldiers dragged Ennalee and the house servants out too, threatening to execute them one by one until he told them what they wanted.  Faced with this, Ennalee's father finally answered, but twisted the truth slightly to protect the Resistance members (as might be expected).  The soldiers seemed to buy it, but then shoved him roughly to the ground and beheaded him on the spot as a public example of what would happen to those who rebelled.  Ennalee saw it all, and it scarred her.  The repercussions of this trauma still affect her in ways she doesn't even consciously recognize.  After this, the soldiers made her swear fealty to Kraoleck or die as well; she bitterly swore it and remained as the new landowner in her father's place.
Other:  Her name is pronounced similar to Emily.  Those who know her well often call her Enna.  She is one of the few landowners to actually make a serious effort to treat the workers on her farm well, though she rarely oversees them personally.
Man, I feel so sorry for her, and I invented her... *awkward*
Tell me if there's anything I need to tweak.
Wow, you guys certainly made a few characters while I was forging. :P All look good; accepted.
Now I need to get my own made. . . And yes, I will be taking Kraoleck. (You all have kind of made a personality for him without my help.)
EDIT: Characters made. Feel free to take a look at them, if you wish. They are in the first post.
Alright this is Linty revised. A bunch has changed so if you are like me and read every single Bio then you'll wanna reread hers. Though the basic personality and story is pretty much the same.
Linty
Name: Linty
Species: Rat
Age: Teen
Gender: Female
Weapons: None
Occupation: Farm Worker
Appearance: A small undersized creature with a thin face and furless tail Linty isn't a typical rat. Her worn often dusty smock is stained but well repaired with several patches. Her dark brown fur is very ragged and spiky sticking up unwantedly, so she is constantly smoothing it down. Her footpaws are wrapped up as a pitiful excuses for shoes as her line of work often transitions between the house and the fields. Linty's front paws are protected by clawless gloves she takes on and off when required.
Personality: Highly adventurous Linty is often trying to explore and roam the streets of her home settlement, and Lady Silvertail's land boundaries. She is very inquisitive and slightly fascinated with wounds. Her desire to become a healer is often thwarted by the long work hours in the fields or cleaning in the house. She has a good head for heights, and enjoys the riskier more dangerous tasks when they're available. Often she dreams of doing something important however it is doubtful that she ever will with her current life situation.
History: Orphaned at birth the newborn rat was left by its parents and taken in by one of Lady Silvertail's house servants who raised Linty to do work wherever she was needed. Linty was at first true to her species and resented the hard work, but as she grew slightly older, and a few whippings from her caretaker she became more responsible.
During Silvertail's father's execution she and her adopted caretaker were some of the servants dragged out and threatened. After the event Milly 'Linty's caretaker' began sending her to do more things out in the field hoping to protect the young rat incase the soldiers come back. However Linty could occasionally been seen working around the house.
Other: Linty works for Lady Ennalee Silvertail and is bound to her by law. She is a sort of serf and owes everything she has to the Stoat.
Thanks!
Aydin
Name: Aydin
Species: River otter
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Weapons: A dagger and two short swords
Occupation: Resistance member
Appearance: Aydin is moderately good-looking. He has dark brown fur and a scar on his left cheek, where the fur grew back lighter than the rest. His attire consists of a dark blue tunic, a brown belt, in which he sheaths his dagger, and a pair of brown boots. He keeps his two short swords sheathed on his back, concealed by a black cloak.
Personality: Aydin hates Kraoleck with a passion, because his parents were killed by his soldiers. He is staunchly loyal and can be counted on. He isn't very talkative with strangers, but once he gets to know someone he is known to talk more. He can be rather bold at times, as well.
History: When Aydin was younger, his parents were servants of the King. They attempted to defend themselves when Kraoleck came, but were cut down. Aydin himself managed to escape with his life. He then joined with the Resistance, planning to avenge his parents' deaths.
Other: n/a
I'll probably add some sort of last name once I think of one.
Hey Skarzs what direction do you want the RP to take? Should I move my characters towards Sarahadoron or have Linty stick around the farm? Should the citizens resist when the guards force them out of their homes? Should a mini struggle begin?
Help us out here.
Title: Re: For the Throne - An Alternate Universe RP (Sign-ups Closed.)
Post by: The Skarzs on March 13, 2016, 02:48:15 AM
Okay, so what I want is for a number of the citizens to join the army through the suggestion of the king and his creatures. Ideally the resistance will take notice and get worried, and perhaps do something to bolster their own ranks. The king will eventually try to take out the resistance as it causes less decision to stay on his side, and there will be some conflict.
My own character, Fauken, may end up meeting the resistance as she is not prone to obeying authority, but ends up going north anyways. Once there, she will come across those creatures whom Kraoleck intents on confronting, but I'm not going to spoil anything further. Besides, this is only what I kind of want to happen, not what will happen strictly.
Title: Re: For the Throne - An Alternate Universe RP (Sign-ups Closed.)
Post by: The Skarzs on March 30, 2016, 04:31:38 PM
I have no idea how well this RP is going to go. I have had very little inspiration when it comes to getting a decent story plan set in, and I don't want to make everyone else bow to my wishes. However, I seem to have set Kraoleck in so well that there is little hope for anyone to try to do anything. What would need to happen is more than just the resistance getting stronger; there would need to be a power struggle. Something bad needs to happen to get this story actually moving.
I apologize for my lack of posting; it's not in the least bit encouraging to the other players if the GM is having trouble being active in his own RP.
Name: Syphyir (sife-ear) Risskinwel
Species: Grey Fox
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Weapons: Two, long knives cross-sheathed over the back of his waist. Though he also uses his natural body.
Occupation: Member of the resistance/Imperial Spy
Appearance: The silver/grey portion of his softer than normal fur is brighter with more silver than grey, while the orange is fire bright. His eyes are deep, mesmerizing blue pools, and his tail's dark tip is shorter than average, but has veins that stretch back, some going half way back. He wears a dark, forest green tunic with medium brown trimmings, and a grey hood. His trousers are stone-washed black and his boots are dark grey/brown. His belt and satchel are both molasses brown. His height is rather average, and he is sometimes accused of being skinny, though underestimating his physical prowess can be a dangerous mistake.
Personality: He's got a bright demeanor to match his fur. Well-tempered, patient, loves to kid around with his friends. Though his sense of humor darkens when he's "working," and he could easily be mistaken for a nut case. Naturally facetious, but still well-mannered in tone. Tries to keep others out of his problems, but has no qualms with assisting them in dealing with theirs.
History: Syphyir was a typically rather well behaved during his childhood. Born to a family of relatively decent stature due to his father being a Lieutenant in the Imperial army, he was raised in a fairly easy-going environment. Then again, when the fox went un-supervised, he became a mischief-maker the likes of which you will never find an equal. He would often play practical jokes on neighbors, or steal miscellaneous items from passersby and the like. Theft being more of a hobby then anything, he'd later return these items... All without ever getting caught.
       It came about shortly after Syphyir turned over his 19th year that his father was injured in an ordeal with what appeared to be insignificant street rabble. This injury ultimately proved fatal. The young fox soon after arrived at the hub of the military to enlist. His was a familiar face, and he was offered training to become an officer to which he gave a firm "no." He eyed his interviewers, some who he'd known for some odd years through his deceased father. He wanted to be a spy, seemingly working for the resistance, providing information on any important targets or locations they may have. After a brief moment of objections, seeing as it wasn't impossible that some unknown member of the resistance might happen to identify him, Syphyir gave his response, though not with words. Reaching into his satchel he produced the wallets of every beast in the room beside his own. The silence was palpable, but was swiftly cut through by a flying knife. The applicant had been lackadaisically twirling it in his fingers until the moment he threw it before it's actual owner, an old friend who'd had the blade for many years, a gift from a deceased family member of his own. Syphyir's expression screamed with the silent laugh of victory as he gave his two cents, "I can take an item from another, convince him it's mine, and then give it to him as a gift. Do you honestly think that shedding suspicion will be so hard?" He was admitted with little delay, and his mission began mere months later... at the turn of his 20th year.
       Since, he has made a name for himself in the resistance, long past any suspicion from his colleagues. To the resistance, he's a valuable assassin, and field operative, capable of making quick work of any job requiring stealth or sleight of hand. Even gathering tips as to where the cracks in the Imperial forces may be... But to the Imperial Officers and higher ups, he's a secret weapon on a simple mission to make the resistance the insignificant gnat it is today, turning some against them by sneaking in a piece of skewed information, leading to the incidental death of those un-involved. Re-focusing attentions away from larger, more impacting strikes to minor dings in a seemingly unstoppable colossus. In truth, the entire operation has been relatively easy due to one simple fact.... Syphyir became their friend. He knows several of them personally, even risked his life on occasion, just so a compatriot might escape a sticky situation. He harbors actual positive feelings for the group he's come to know so well... But even so, that didn't stop him from dropping off the location of the hidden headquarters of the resistance shortly before the attack was staged.
Other: There are times when Syphyir confuses himself, trying to sort out what action he should take, or is supposed to take, the motive behind each seeming to be mismatched. His talents are wide and varied, but outside of his abilities in the field, few are particularly fantastic. Even so, he's made himself somewhat of a handy-fox, a body to assist with a heavy load, a hand to cut onions for the soup, a voice to raise in boisterous song, or an ear to listen private troubles. His desire for family and friends is rooted so deep within himself that even he can't fully comprehend the need. In short, he loves them, be they enemy or not, he loves his companions.
It's not complete (duh), but it's a start at least -_-
       'Tis finished! SKARZ AH DID IT! AH MADE DEH CHARACTER!  :o ;D I shouldn't be this hyper at 3 o'clock in the morning, I need sleep, but I think I'm too busy roleplaying as myself in the OOC to do anything else... My character's done.... yeah.... G'night!
Let's do our discussion here, shall we? So, what I would want to happen with the timeskip is for Kraoleck to get word of the attack's results, and continue with his preparations. Fauken, my other character, is going north, but I don't want to reveal what I have planned.
The resistance should begin settling in the forest.
Eventually. But I can't control everything; the first problem to every plan is execution. ;) Fauken can come across the original resistance base site, and some resistance member can be searching there for survivors or something, and she can run into them. I might play the resistance member myself.
So, Kraoleck burns them out of the forest, also reducing his timber industry to dust, and instead uses the town's citizen's as slave labor?
Let me guess. Then, he drags Rusk to the guillotine and uses his execution as an example to stop any big beasts to supply the rebellion.
Oh this next part is easy. He holds a public feast and invites the citizens to be there, but the food is just the carcasses of the resistance members and only fit for monitors to eat.
Oh oh I got this! Linty turns traitor and persuades Kraoleck to arrest Lady Silvertail as revenge against her boss.
I think that justifies as HEA.
Alright.
So, Kraoleck had his army storm the resistance's base, and killed a good number of them. With the resistance in near ruins, Kraoleck now has the attention of his subjects and is bringing in many volunteers to join his army. With this army, he intends to travel north.
The resistance has regrouped in the forest by the logging town, and are recovering from their defeat. They need to get support from other places and find a way to become stronger.
Perhaps what you can do is have your character happen to be in that town for whatever reason, and hears a rumor; perhaps he can have some influence. (Just throwing out an idea.)
Alright, I'll look into it. Thanks.
@LT Sandpaw @Lord Ashenwyte @Eulaliaaa! @Jukka the Sling @Sagetip
You guys still up for this? I know it's dusty with age, but chopping off some unnecessary parts in the RP may make it small enough to manage and hold interest.
I'm up for it.  Maybe if I made a new character...
Yeah, I'll go post.
But before I do that, is there anything more I can do with Anna? I really want to develop the character more, but I'm not sure what's going on over at Kraoleck's place and what she can do. Maybe Kraoleck promotes her or gives her some mission or whatever?
Spoilers: Kraoleck's getting assassinated by Ashenwyte. :P
Yeah, I know. But, right this second? Or soon? OOH, maybe she gets sent out right before he gets killed and she doesn't know until later. That fits perfectly with what I've planned. Maybe she can be in charge of a small group that's been sent to search for survivors from the fight and kill any remaining rebels. Yes. Yes I think I might do that. Does anyone want to be any soldiers in that group, and is that plan ok with you, Skarzs?
You can have her already out on that mission, but Ash was going to do it right now.
I was going to have it as Seht leading Kraoleck into a trap outside the mountain. Maybe Anna is left behind along with a few others as a garrison.
Sounds fine to me.
@Lord Ashenwyte
Ivar the Immortal was never part of the RP before. I think it's going to take too much time out of the RP to have Kraoleck send soldiers over for this new character. If we don't get this RP moving using other players, it's running itself into the ground.
'kay. I'll have Kraoleck and the loyalists massacred in the courtyard then.
What if Kraoleck is going to publicly execute a rebel in the courtyard that Seht caught and the rebel forces are at the courtyard and attempt a rescue but then Seht starts the coup? It'd involve most of the players.
That. . . could actually work. Amidst all the confusion. . .
Yeah, yeah! The rebels could  attack to save their own and Kraoleck's forces either attack the rebels or turn against him.
I'll see if I can edge in somehow, I've really got nothing for my characters to be doing at the moment.
I wonder what Linty could do. . . Hmm. . .
Try to see what you can do with Jukka. She's having trouble with her character's usefulness as well.
How about Kraoleck invites her and the other powerful land owners to the execution? He'd do it to prevent dissent, and it'd be interesting character development for Jukka's character as well.
Ah! He'll blame someone for his execution (I'll use Ivar, just because, and I'll say he's an avid rebel supporter), the rebels try to help, he dies, Kraoleck dies, and there'll be utter chaos! It'll be beautiful!
And Rusk, as a the supplier of weapons, will naturally be there as well. He'll be the rebellion contact, in a way, able to keep a close eye on things.
That'll allow the rebels to coalesce, and possibly become more effective.
I'm going to bring Fauken up to the north. @Eulaliaaa! Do you want Reed to come with her?
Will Skarz and Ash be finishing up the conversation now, or will we just directly timeskip?
We'll finish it up, then time skip. I'll put in the setting.
I've kind of lost interest. . . too many people can't do anything, and dragging it along kicking and screaming isn't helping. I'm considering having it moved to Abandoned role-plays and starting another with some better mental strength.
The most successful RPs have been simple ideas that expanded as they went on, with around four dedicated players. As it is, For the Throne is far too expansive in geography, with too many players, most of whom aren't actively in it, and a story that is more complex than people want.
What do you think? Do we let it go honorably and start something fresh and new?
Quote from: Skarzs on December 28, 2016, 03:53:08 PM
Honestly, I want to let the whole idea go so I don't get stuck on it. I want a new idea.
