After the voice, the ottersquirrel heard the sound of a bomb from outside the cave. Her head snapped up, and she rose to her feetpaws and padded softly, and painfully to the entrance to get a better look.
As she stood on the edge of the fissure that lead into the cave, Lass looked down.
There were three ships, one was on fire, though it was being put out by the crew. Bodies lay in the shallows, and in the sand, where rocks, wire, and blood littered the beach. There were gunshots, and bombs, and, from her position, Lass could only just hear the screams of soldiers, and yells of captains, and sergeants.
At this, Lass turned back and walked back into the cave. She couldn't stand the sight, couldn't stand the fears that burnt in her mind.
"Please.. Please be okay Sarge..."
(Oooh, Lassie, you do a good job writing war dramas. Maybe you should try writing a real one.)

The young ottersquirrel starred at her bloodied paws as she sunk to the ground, her back scraping the rocky side of the cave as she did so.
Suddenly, she felt something thud into her head, and then heard it hit the ground. She peered into the dark, trying to see what it was, but her eyes had not yet adjusted, so she reached out and claimed it from the shadows. It was... A supply pack?
The lass's shell shocked brain tried to figure out everything that had just happened, when something even stranger happened. It took a while for her to realize what it was, then it hit her.
The screams, bombs, yelling, even the waves and gulls! They had all stopped. She was in utter silence.
Dumb founded, Lass stood, supply pack in paw and limped to the fissure, with the intent on checking what in area was going on, but she found she couldn't.. She could see the way out, but something was stopping her..
She was trapped.

Scott got up not knowing where he was all he remembered was that he was pinned behind a tank trap, a bangalore gripped tightly in his hands, and pain. Was it just a dream? Nah. He was still in a tattered uniform and the cut he received from a troop transport was still raw. Dreams didn't tend to hurt. Scott rolled out of his makeshift bed. As his feet touched the ground pain shot up his entire body and he collapsed. Scott stared at his torn legs. When had he gotten that? A landmine maybe? Scott searched his pouches and found two tube of morphine. Scott quickly stabbed them into his legs and the pain slightly subsided. Scott fell over as the cave shook from a stray artillery piece. So, the fight wasn't over. Scott shouldered his pack but put it down quickly. His legs could just barley take his own body weight much less a pack. Scott quickly stuffed his pouches with three shots of morphine and ten clips of ammo. Scott grabbed his M1-garand and stumbled his way to the entrance.
A sound broke the silence.. One of straps being done, and undone, then a strange shuffling. Lass's heard nearly pounded out of her chest as she slowly turned, and crept back down the cave, the pain in her limbs and head nearly forgotten, as fear, and glimmer of hope took over her being.
She tried to speak up as she saw a shadowy form, but her voice was but a croak.
"H-...Hello?"
She managed, as she got a better look at the soldier, for a soldier he was, as shown by his ripped and filthy uniform, Lass took comfort in the fact that he seemed to be a friend, though painful experience taught her to fear him too.
Scott held his gun up and aimed it at the sillouette of a squirrel. Scott squinted at the newcomer trying to make out their features but couldn't because the light at the entrance obscured everything but the squirrels frame.
"Friend or foe?"
Scott said as he gripped his m1-garand tigher.
The young ottersquirrel nearly jumped at the voice, as she stepped out of the shadows into the light light of the cave entrance. That.. That voice.. She had heard that voice countless times in her young life.
Even before the war had disturbed her peaceful life. No, that voice was no mare comrade in arms.
It was her sargent, her best friend, and maybe a bit more..
She took another step forward to allow him to see clearly her bleeding features as she croaked one word.
"Scott?"
the effort alone made her head spin, and she leant on the cave wall once more.
"That's me"
Scott responded.
"And wh-"
Scott's words died in his throat as the stranger walked into view except she wasn't a stranger. It was Lass. Scott lowered his gun and slung it around his back. Taking a step forward he wrapped Lass in weak but big hug. Scott quickly stepped back and cursed himself for his rash action.
"Sorry. I-I'm just glad to see a familiar face. How are the boys doing?"
The ottersquirrel gulped and flinched as she saw the gun move. It seemed like forever since she had seen her friend. Her head spun, and a worried look washed over her face, and she attempted to put her paws up in surrender, then the squirrel stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her.
"I-"
Lass's heard beat out of her chest, at first in fear of punishment, then joy took over her.
She tried to answer the question, but her mouth and throat were coated with sand, and she had long ago lost her water canteen to an enemy bullet.
Scott unslung his rifle and peered out the cave entrance.
"It's a massacre they haven't even made it to the sandbags"
Scott said as he looked at the bloody battlefield. Dozens of LCVP's were lined up at the tide line their ramps littered with the bodies of allied soldiers. Scott gripped his gun tightly his knuckles growing white and took a deep breath.
"Lass? You ready for action?"
I gotta say, this doesn't quite look like the place for lovers of books. >_>
Again, the young beast attempted to speak, but only caused herself to cough up more sand, and thus, lose more of the last dregs of energy she had left, it had been a hard, tiring, and- more than anything else, confusing battle, and Lass was still unsure of a lot of things; but one thing she was sure about was that they were trapped in this cave, or a cave it seemed.
She still couldn't hear the battle, or any sound of life other than her own ragged breathing, and that of her companion.
In an attempt to explain their hopelessness, Lass limped forward, and, taking a deep breath, slammed her self into the invisible barrier that kept them in.
And- as expected, she was thrown back, past the sarge, and into the far wall, where she now lay.
Sandy tears filled the ottersqirrels eyes.
Tears of pain, bitterness, confusion, fear, and most of all, sadness.
In the past months, the young beast had seen the beast she had trained, and lived with die infront of her very eyes. She had been by so many's sides as their young lives were stolen away by the cruelty of fate, and though she hated herself for it, every time it seemed to fill her with emptiness rather than sorrow.
Her brain had learnt to accept it as part of this new, hell of a life.
"Will this horror ever end?...How many comrades have I lost to gambles on the commanders...Do.. Do they even care?! Don't they know?! These- These soldiers have families, friends, homes they once hoped to come back to.. Dreams they aspired to... But all they get is this... This-...This hell we call a battle...Even if we win, we still lose.. Lose love... Hope.. Joy.... Life... Is there ever truly a happy ending?"
Finally the thoughts of her sorrows subsided, and Lass looked up, and back at Scott.. She couldn't even manage a smile before her head once again slumped onto her chest.
A side effect of smashing into a hard rock wall, no doubt.

(OOC: I mean, the context was a bomb, sooo...I would thiiink it is.. Plus, cellar lore- which Sika herself uses, has proven that magic is indeed explosive proof... As for actually RP style post....I kinda just got my self knocked out.. So uh, not much I can do..)

Upon further investigation, he finds The Outcast of Redwall is lying next to him in the sand, and he has been stung twice by bees or some stinging creature in the paw and the shoulder. A Verdauga approaches...*

Scott fell back instinctively as Lass hurled past him.
"LASS?"
Scott yelled in surprise as he stumbled over to the unconscious squirrel and as he crouched beside her he checked for wounds.
After finding no shrapnel or bullet wounds Scott grabbed a morphine tube in stabbed it into his leg. He didn't like the morphine but he liked being partially paralyzed less. Scott wondered how Lass was even thrown. No explosion and Lass didn't have a bullet wound. The wind? Now that's just stupid he thought. Out of curiosity Scott pulled out his pistol and shot it out the cave. The squirrel saw a ripple on the cave entrance and a aplit second later the zing of a bullet cut right next to his ear and he hugged the ground.
The ottersquirrel's entire body flinched at the slightest touch, and the unconscious face creased with pain.
The light outside of the cave was darkening, and the cold began to bite. Unlike on the sand below, the sun had not warmed the air and sand inside the cave, and it was chilled. What had been a stiflingly hot day was now turning into a freezing night. And yet the battle raged on. By this time, the allied forces had made it into the enemy trenches, moving the fight further up the beach. Though no word of this could reach the pitiful soldiers trapped in the cave.
"Oh, great!"
Scott said in frustration. He turned back to Lass and picked her up.
"At least I'm not alone!"
The squirrel placed Lass on the bed. Since there were no external wounds Scott couldn't do much but wait.
(I really don't know what to do in a cave with an unconscious Lass and nothing to kill)
(Heh...No external wounds, eh? Do you count barbed wire ripped skin, bruises, and a sprained ankle internal? ;D (I tried to hint at the wounds, but eh.. It's getting dark, maybe you couldn't see :giggle:)
Also, if you get really bored you could light a fire or look through the supply pack.. Ooorr you could explore the cave and find useful things like a fire wood stack)

Lass giggled to herself at a memory that flew to mind.
It had been a long time since she laughed, and the cracked, dry sound that escaped her lips was unknown to her, and she shut her eyes again, as her mind filled once more with the horrors she had seen and experienced.
She had seen friends blown to bits in an instant. She had seen the very life drain from loved ones eyes as they lay on bloodied cots in the ships.
Their faces were burnt into her memory, and the pain and bitterness flowed through her like a raging river, and she sat up.
It was dark by now, though the light of gun fire lit the dark night sky.
The ottersquirrel stared blankly out the entrance. Her thoughts had once more grown dark, as she thought of what was to come. Finally she mustered up all her strength and spoke aloud.
"We're...We're stuck here...And no one will find our...Bodies..."

Yes, The Great Patriotic War as it's known in Russia, 1941-1945. They also had a war in 1918 during the Russian Civil War, but they sceded Poland and made peace. Previous to the Soviet Union the Russian Empire was fighting Germany in The Great War, 1914-1918.

*In one swift movement he slips off the log and crouches behind it. Also gently shakes Ally awake and motions for her to be silent*
*Silently slips out a tiny pocketknife*
*Falls out of a near by tree*
Lemme back at him! The salty water is making fun of me grrr!!
*Sharp rustling noise suddenly stops. Rill hands Ally his saber and uses her pocketknife to put a sharp tip on the quarterstaff. The rustling noise starts heading towards Lass*

*Rill pounces and wrestles the beast to the ground*
*Ally jumps into position in front of the beast, and points Rill's saber at the foe*

The Game, though I associate it with rickrolls, is different. With a rickroll, I'd say if you know it's going to happen and you could choose to avoid it, it doesn't count because you're doing it voluntarily (it wouldn't count as being rickrolled if you looked up the video and choose to watch it). If you realise but too late to avoid it, I'd say that it does count.
However, with the game, you lose if you expect to lose it because you're thinking about losing it by default.

Some attempts at agriculture are evident, as there's a couple small gardens containing a variety of herbs and edible plants. In a tree by the cliff, about on the same level as the cliff edge, there seems to be a structure and a sort of bridge between it and the cliff where a trail picks up.*
