I hate shaving, but a beard would look wrong on me (plus I couldn't even grow one for now if I wanted to). So too does being totally clean shaven look wrong on me, though.

Heh. I'm not allowed to have a beard, even if I wanted one. As it is, though, I hate facial hair. Still, I need it, because once I'm old I'm going to grow a Gandalf beard. Just because I can.

That quote from the book was always strange, 'cause like, if the hat is wide-brimmed his eyebrows must be super long, which totally doesn't make sense.
