do you want to go first, wot?
You can go first, if you want ;)
Ok :)
IC: Stashi walked down the path in Mossflower Woods, the beauty of the day was lost upon the young fox as her bright, green eyes looked around the forest. Thieves could be lurking anywhere, even on a glorious day like this. Her ears twitched slightly as a bird whistled its joyous song nearby.
;)
IC: "'Tis a beautiful day, wot!" Emalet sang to herself, oblivious to creatures around her as she peered into river moss for fish. She smiled as she breathed in deeply, taking in the familiar scents of trees and flowers. Suddenly, her smile vanished as she recognized a dreaded smell... Fox!
Stashi continued down the path until a sound caught her ear, faint at first but steadily growing louder. It was a river. She broke into a run, stopping when she came upon the Rivermoss. She sighed, bending down to drink the water. Stashi unsheathed her daggers and took a swipe at a passing fish, trying to catch a meal. She was so busy fishing, that she hadn't taken a look around to see if anybeast was near.
With sharpened senses under instinct, Emalet turned her head to meet the gaze of a fox, about the same age as herself.
"Hello" she said eying the fox, ready to defend herself at a moment's notice. " Bally old good day, wot?"
Stashi jumped, looking over at Emalet. She recovered swiftly, then held her daggers up, "Who are you?" She snarled, trying desperately to look ferocious and strong. She knew that if you could avoid a fight by scaring the enemy off.
" Hello chap. The name's Emalet," she replied spreading her wings slightly, challenging the fox. " and you?"
(OOC: oops! Meant to say comrade instead of chap :))
The young fox hesitated, "That's not any of your business, owl!" She snarled, holding her daggers up and unsure of what to do. She was always told to steal from travelers who looked helpless, but this owl did not look weak at all. She glared at Emalet, "Gimme your supplies, featherbag!" She said half-heartedly.
"Sorry, fox." Emalet responded with a steady voice. "I'm going to keep my jolly old supplies. And didn't your mother ever tell you that it's rude to point?" She said, lifting an eyebrow at the fox's daggers. Emalet had heard many stories of foxes from her friends of the Long Patrol, and knew that foxes are cunning, quick, and dangerous. Emalet was ready.
Stashi hesita ted, taken aback by the owl' s confidence. Now what? She thought, lowering her daggers slowly, "if I wanted you dead, you would've been dead long ago!" She said, then launched herself at Emalet. Leaping around her, she jabbed at the owl, barely missing, "Here, here, here, and here! See?" She said, standing back to watch the owl' s reaction.
Emalet spread her great wings, lifting off the forest floor as she opened her talons threateningly.
"I'm guessing your dear old mum never taught you about personal space either, eh? I can help you with that, my friend", she said, keeping a safe distance in the air from the fox with talons still outstretched.
Stashi laughed, "Ha, why are you flying? Scared to come down? I'll bet I could beat you in a fight without even trying!" She said, tossing her daggers and catching them skillfully.
Emalet watched the confident fox below her. "I've got to exercise my good old wings some how, you know. But I'm up for the challenge old gel," she said, swooping down to the forest floor and landing about a body's length from the fox. Emalet unsheathed her sword and held it in her talons, ready for combat.
Stashi circled Emalet carefully, looking for a place to strike with her daggers. Suddenly she charged, grabbing a hold of one of the owl' s wings and clinging onto it.
(OOC: this is so fun :D)
Emalet felt a sharp wave of pain from the fox's tight grip on her wing as she thrusted her beak at the paws, striking one.
Ooc: yeah!
Bic: Stashi yelped in pain, letting go of Emalet' s wing. She lept up, snarling, "Gah, is that the best you can do? Bet you couldn't use a sword, owl!" She said, then waited for the owl' s next move. She circled Emalet, light on her paws as she brandished her daggers, ready for anything.
" I've got a few more tricks, old gel", Emalet responded, twirling the sword in her talons. "And for this good old sword, its never failed me once, it was a gift from Salamandastron, you know", she said, remembering her dear friends from the Long Patrol. Emalet twitched the blade again, watching the fox closely.
Stashi smiled, twirling her daggers with skill, "Well let's see you use it!" She growled. The fox backed up slightly, her bright, green eyes watching the owl closely as she stood there.
Emalet nodded, lunging toward the fox. "Alright then, I guess I'll give this good old thing a whirl," she said, thrusting her sword forward, its blade clashing against the fox's daggers.
Stashi stumbled back slightly, then charged toward Emalet and slashed at her. The blade missed slightly, leaving a small scratch. The fox growled, crouching down low and flattening her ears, "Won't miss next time!" She taunted.
Emalet stepped back, thankful that her fierce opponent had missed. " Don't mind me saying this, old gel, but I hope you miss again, wot!" Emalet teased, trying to retain her light demeanor. This fox was a fiery, seasoned warrior- a born fighter. Regaining her breath, Emalet leaped forward again, knocking one of the fox's daggers from her paw.
Stashi held her paw, doing a small dance of pain as she waved the stinging paw around. Then she grabbed onto her other dagger and prepared to attack again, this time she would go for the eye.
Emalet watched the fox steadily advancing toward her, anticipating another thrust. Suddenly, the fox slashed at Emalet's face, leaving a gushing wound on her lower cheek. Emalet stepped back in painful shock, trying to think of what to do next.
Stashi gave a small growl of victory, preparing for her next move. She would beat the owl, but let it live to tell the tale of her power. Soon her name would be known throughout the land, and all would fear her. Her tail flicked back and forth excitedly as she almost forgot about the owl.
Emalet's eyes grew misty, sending her into a haze as the throbbing pain in her cheek seemed to consume her body. She had to defeat the fox- not only for her own survival, but for the safety of all woodlanders. She did not want to kill the fox though, believing that all creatures, even foe beasts, had some good buried inside. Emalet feebly gripped her sword, determined to somehow drive the fox out of the forest.
Stashi charged suddenly, jabbing at Emalet' s wing. As she backed up, she fell against the owl' s blade. Cursing under her breath, she grabbed her side tightly as blood slowly tickled down her side and firmed a small puddle on the ground.
Emalet felt both relief and pity from the fox's unfortunate fall, wishing that they could both continue on their own travels in peace. Emalet's own wounds would need to heal, especially the oozing slash on her cheek. "Should we call it a truce, old gel? You've got a nasty wound there, you know." She said, eying the fox's painful-looking side.
Stashi snarled, staggering slightly, "Shurrup, owl! I won't back down to you, featherbag!" She charged forward, slower this time, and started jabbing at the owl.
" You're a tough one, old gel. I've never met a fox more determined, doncha know," Emalet responded, her sword blade clashing against the fox's daggers. Emalet had hoped to end the fight, but was willing to fight for her survival.
Blade clashed against blade as Stashi attacked and dodged, "I don't even want to rob you anymore, I just want to beat you. I've never lost!" She panted, her breath coming raggedly as she continued to attack. She backed up slightly, tripping over a root and falling heavily. As she struggled to get back up, she tried defending herself while grabbing her wounded side.
"Alrighty then, old gel. A little competition can't hurt, wot!" Emalet said, weaving the blade in her talons. Emalet gingerly fingered her cheek with her wing. It was still bleading heavily, but she continued to fight the fox.
Stashi lept up, charging the owl and swinging her blade. She nicked one of Emalet' s talons, backing up once more to catch her breath and watch the owl' s next move.
Emalet leaped back in pain, clutching the sword in her other talon as she charged at the fox. She slashed her blade, leaving a gashing wound on her shoulder.
Stashi screeched in agony, falling to her knees as the daggers dropped from her paws. She looked up at the owl with wide, surprised eyes, "you cannot beat me..." She whispered. Then threw herself at Emalet and dug her claws into the owl's face, howling with rage and pain.
Emalet threw the clawing fox against a nearby tree trunk. "Sorry old gel, an owls got to have her vision, you know", she said, rubbing her bruised eyes carefully.
Stashi went flying into the tree trunk, falling to the ground and leaning against it. She sobbed for breath, trying to stand. She collapsed again and lay there, trying weakly to reach for her daggers.
Emalet shuddered with horror at the sight of her foe, struggling for her survival, and it was her fault. Emalet reached into her bag and tore an old cloak into strips. She leaned over the fox and began treating Stashi's wounds.
Stashi flinched, pulling away in fear, "Go on, just kill me and get it over with!" She gasped, holding her bleeding side weakly.
"No way, old gel! I'm not going to kill you, I'm here to help you," Emalet said as she tied a bandage onto another wound.
Stashi hesitated, squinting up at the owl through half closed eyes, "That's why we were fighting, right? To the death?" She said, half conscious, wincing as Emalet bandaged her wounds.
"Oh no, old gel, I was just giving this good old sword a whirl, ya know. And besides, I couldn't imagine slaying a good fox like you," Emalet said, winking at the fox. She really was only trying to defend herself, and she could not imagine killing a beast.
Stashi sat up, wincing slightly, "Alright then, you win. I've never lost to another creature, though." She said as she staggered upright. She retrieved her daggers and leaned against the tree as she eyed the owl, "Emalet, was it? Well Emalet, I thank you for helping me. But you beat me in a fight and you should've killed me. I'm a fox, a vermin, and vermin don't change. You've made a mistake, and you'll learn why soon." With that, she turned and started to slowly limp into the forest.
Emalet watched the fox through misty eyes as she picked herself up, determined to go to Redwall abbey.
OOC: Beg pardon for butting in, but if you're done, the best thing to do would to PM James Gryphon and tell him. ;)
Oh, I forgot about this! Yeah we're done...
