the most horrible vermin death for me would be the death of ungat trunn!! that must have been very painful  :o

Every death was horrible, but the worst for me were Ungatt Trunn's and Tsarmina's. Of course, that's probably because I have a phobia of drowning...

Probably the death of Lantur in Marlfox...I've got a morbid fear of sharks, so reading about her being pushed into a lake full of ravenous pike by her own brother Mokkan....*shudder*  :( At least he ended up the same way afterwards so it was kind of poetic justice.

I also feel bad for thoughs vermin who had pain for most of their little lives.....Slagar and Swartt Sixclaw.

That reminds me: Wouldn't falling off a cliff (or even down a well) be pretty painful? When you land, virtually every bone in your body would be broken, and you could nothing but lay there and die. Souds kind of gruesome to me.

Those creature that had boiling water poured on them in Redwall, the ones that had hot oatmeal dumped on them in Triss. Basically anybeast that had hot stuff chucked at them. I don't like heat...

There's something I can agree with. ;)  I also couldn't bear the thought of drowning so that puts Tsarmina's death near the top of my list too.

Hmm...
Ungatt Trunn (ouch!!!)
Cluny
Gabool
Gulo
Bane
That's all I can think of right now.

Sergeant Lancejack from Rakkety tam, Gulo literally shredded his back and then he charged the vermin.

...Cluny. I know, I'm thinking pretty basic, but still. Being crushed by a bell? Sounds pretty painful.

Just realized it was vermin deaths  :)
That captin Gabool thought was Greypatch, the scorpion killed him and that would have been pretty painful as well as scary.

I'm going to say... Skalrag, because getting targeted with arrows sounds painful to me. (But that's probably because Skalrag is one of my favorite foxes in the series.)

I don't either. It doesn't matter how many creatures they killed, they at least deserve a quick death!

hmm, i think ones where the vermin are drowned or crushed *shudder* mainly because i hate the thought of drowning and if you were crushed you can stay alive for quite a few days and that would be absolute agony just lying there with every bone broken waiting for death, let allone totally boring!  :P

But the broken neck just paralyzed Ungatt, and he died from drowning, which would mean a slow, painful, death

I thought whats-his-face from the first book died pretty gruesomely- the one that got crushed under the cart. It was quick, though, I guess. Also, Riftun from Triss had a bad death. (Though I admit that I did cheer "Yes! Got what you deserved!" when he died.)

That dosn't mean that I dont have feelings! He deserved a fare better fate than the one he got! Sure, he may have broken the necks of a couple score of creatures, but he didn't deserve that fate! Why, I ask you, did he have to die in such a horrible way? Why!? WHY!?
Title: Re: what is the most horrible vermin death

If he broke the necks of a fewscore, then neck-breaking is a fair fate for him. Ever heard the phrase "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth"? it's a reference to an ancient code of law ( Don't remember what it was called, but it was sumerian I believe) The general idea of that form of law is, if you kill someone, they kill you. If you put out someone's eye unlawfully, they put out your eye. If you cut off a man's hand, they cut off yours. Also, if you're trying to say that Ungatt only killed a fewscore, then you're incorrect. He was a warlord, thus, killing large amounts of creatures, both innocent, and not so. Of course, on the other hand, nobeast should have to suffer that fate, so I'm undecided about whether it was... -Insert correct word here-. His death was harsh, but fair, in my opinion.

Goffa from Salamandastron had a pretty awful death. Getting shot with an arrow the size of a spear sounds like a bad way to go. Actually, that book was full of painful deaths; the main protagonist and both main antagonists died horribly.

I think the worst way to go is the battle in Outcast of Redwall when the crows and vermin were fighting it out. It said the crows picked up rats because they were the only ones they could carry and then flown high and dropped. That must have been horrible! I can only imagine what it must have been like to be carried up several hundred feet and then dropped to your certain death.

I've always wondered how Cluny died. I mean, bells are hollow, right? So if it landed on him, wouldn't he just be stuck underneath it? And Urgan Nagru' s death was fairly quick, with the teeth being driven into his brain. He would've died instantly, right? I would have to go with Ungatt Trunn or Tsarmina, I would hate to drown!

yea, you all saying that getting brains spike or getting crushed is bad, just imagine getting killed by your slaves, embarrassing, and he lived long enough to know that, unlike Razzid

Asmodeus was decapitated
Balis lived in ceaseless pain until he died
Urgan Nagru unintentionally killed himself
Ungatt Trunn got his neck snapped then drowned
Cluny was Crushed by a bell
Razzid was killed by a fat otter and a little hedgehog
poison, eaten alive, drowning, crushed, fell in a pit

who said these books were for children

Gabool's death still stands out for me. The scorpion pretty much terrified me when it first appeared in the story (I think Gabool throws some hapless vermin underling to it?), but when he gets thrown down into the scorpion pit himself, and Mr. Jacques describes the shiny, black scorpion advancing, hissing and clicking...

Yeesh. Heebie jeebies all over again.  :P

He got his neck broken, but that didn't kill him, but then a fox pushed him out to sea were he died...unfortunautly!

WHY ARE PEOPLE SAYING THAT HE GOT HIS NECK BROKEN? IT WAS HIS BACK! IF HE HAD GOTTEN HIS NECK BROKEN HE WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD INSTANTLY!

Really? Ugnatt Trunn? Riggu FElis had a star embedded in his brain

Yes but if that happened you would't feel much pain and Ungatt's included agony and slowness.

I think the worst death was that vermin from Salamandastron who was impaled on a spike and then skinned. But Ungatt's was pretty bad too.

I can only remember some of them, such as Ungatt Trunn's. Brian wrote some pretty horrendous deaths! Some I'd say give Game Of Thrones a run for its money.

Some characters die in fairly horrible ways. It can be disturbing to some. One of the most horrifying examples took place in The Legend of Luke. Two rats are bullying a seemingly defenseless otter, taunting about how they're going to drown him just because they can. Martin sees this, but Log-a-Log—knowing who this otter is—wisely tells him to keep Trimp and Chugger from seeing what happens next. And for good reason: once one of the rats got too close, the "defenseless" otter sinks his teeth directly into the vermin's throat. But that wasn't all bad... at least the otter had some company for dinner...

Many, many villains in the Redwall series. Deaths—shown "onscreen"—include being crushed under a giant bell, being pulled into a sinkhole and drowning, being devoured by a giant eagle, pierced through the heart by a huge crossbow bolt, and being slowly driven insane and to suicide by the heroes.
Those were just the first two books in the series (out of twenty-something), by the way. Others include getting ripped apart by three snakes at once, sucked into a whirlpool, force drowned, and, also from the second book, being tossed into the air to land impaled on some upward-pointing javelins.
A fox got stabbed through the brain by the fangs of the wolf skull he wore as a helmet when he was picked up and slammed headfirst into a tree. Then Ungatt Trunn got possibly the most horrible death of the lot; he's left for dead on the seashore with a broken back, but he's still alive, and the tide is coming in veeeeeeerrrrrry slowly ...
There are also some undoubtedly painful deaths on the red shirts of either side. In one book, a shrew is shot in the eye with an arrow, in another a mook has his head and paw chopped off, and there are also many others.
In the first book was one villain murdered another by stepping on his throat, and holding his foot there until death.
Brian Jacques really doesn't sugarcoat death, despite the series being categorized as children's literature.

Some of the more gruesome deaths (mostly of villains) include: being boiled to death by scalding water, having their spine snapped and still living for hours after, being asphyxiated after paralysis, getting shredded to pieces by pike fish, getting force-drowned, being eaten alive by giants snakes, being eaten alive by cannibals, being eaten alive by spider crabs, being thrown onto a row of sharpened javelins, being flayed alive, getting a smashed-in skull, being cloven in two with a sword or axe, being stung to death by thousands of bees, and the usual beheading, impaling, and poisoning. Several good guys die this way as well.
And in non-death violence:
One big bad gets his tail cut off.
One gets half of his face ripped off by a hawk.
Another survives gets bitten in the head by an adder and has a hideously deformed and flayed face to show for it.
Yet another has his paw ripped off.
One mook gets smashed hard into a wall (and survives).
Another mook is tortured on a rack before being strung up and shot full of arrows.

What?

The modify button past me, ya idiot!
Anyway, after finishing the series it's still between the vermin being flayed in Salamandastron or Korvus Skurr being impaled and then drowned underwater.
