Who are some of your favorite Long Patrol hares? I liked Rockjaw Grang the best
Tammo was pretty cool. I haven't read that book in a while, so I don't remember many names. Sorry! :-\
Brigadier Buckworthy Crumshaw from Rakkety Tam was great!
horty
Horty wasn't a Long Patrol hare, actually.
My favourite is probably the one that bird calls 'Brigadier Wotwot' in Rakkety Tam. Or maybe Midge Manycoats. 8)
My favorite hare would have to be Cuthbert Blanedale Frunk. You can't help but like the guy.
Rockjaw Grang,
Midge Manycoats. ;D
I think mine is rather obvious:
TAMMO DE FFORMELLO TUSSOCK!!!
Tammo, easily. I also like Rake Nightfur from the Rogue Crew.
ALL OF THEM. :o
Tarquin is a big favorite, but Clecky was my first. Rake, Perigord, all the sergeants, Barty, Scarum.... no, nevermind, I can't name them all. I love all of the hares. They are the best. Yes. ;)
Desn't anyone else here like Midge Manycoats? He was really cool!
What book was he in?
The Long Patrol. He was the master of disguse who infiltrated the vermin army with Tammo. Midge Manycoats was AWESOME!!! Definitely my favorite hare of all time next to Rockjaw Grang.
Yes, I love Midge Manycoats.
For some reason I forgot about Tammo. :P
Yes, I like Midge Manycoats. One of my other favorites is Tammo.
Rake Nightfur is awesome. I love how he fights with twin claymores. Isn't he the only character from the Redwall series that fights with dual weapons?

no he was i remember the end of the book it said he left with lonna bowstripe to became a long patroll hare at salamandastron
Nightfire: Barty from Salamandastron had twin short swords strapped across his back, but we never get to see him use them. I'm sure Rake wasn't the only one who went about double bladed, though...
Regarding Horty: Ohhhh I love that guy. ;D He's another one of those characters that starts out like a spoiled brat and grows into something remarkable. He was indeed a Long Patrol captain by the epilogue, "greatly admired by the young hares under his command" or something like that.
yeah c he so was i n the long patrol.
I like Dotti, Tammo, Rake, Buckler, and Maudie.
I have a soft spot for the Colonel Clary, Brigadier Thyme, and Hon Rosie trio. I love the way they're portrayed in Mariel of Redwall.
I would also love to meet Major Perigord Habile Sinistra. He's awesome. :D

Also Finnbarr Galedeep. He wasn't a hare or in the Long Patrol, but he did carry twin weapons!
Anyone else like Major Perigord Habile Sinistra? He's SOOO cool. I think he is my third favorite hare, right up there with Midge Manycoats and Rockjaw Grang. I love Rockjaw's accent!
I like Rockjaw Grang too. And Perigourd is awesome! He has an amazing name, too! I also love Rub-a-dub (was that his name? The hare that could only make drum noises)
Horty is pretty cool, but I find him a bit annoying at times because he's always doing stuff he's not supposed to. >:(
RUBBADUB!!!!!!!!!! ;D he's awesome!
My vote is cast with that most infamous of gluttons, that paragon of harely virtue: Basil Stag Hare! And of course the Sergeant from Long Patrol. "I'll have yore guts fer garters, and your tails for tea."

Anybody know if that Galedeep was related to the Green Isle Galedeeps?
Chances are he probably was related to them, I don't see why they'd have the same name and just not be related.

But I don't think he was part of the Long Patrol.
Oh, right. Sorry!
Actually, Basil was part of the Fur and Foot Fighting Patrol, a branch of the Long Patrol. He was known to be once in that position from Mattimeo.

Oh, okay. I guess I didn't remember that part. Here is where I put my face in palm.
Lieutenant Oxeye, or Major Perigord.

If you read the epilogue. of loamhedge, you would know that Horty did in fact become Captain Hortwill Longblade Braebuck of the Long Patrol
Oh, you're right. ;)
Hey tiria! You have 999 posts ;D I think that's more than anyone on the site!
I think that Tammo and Rubbadub were the best, why? Because what other creature in redwall could sound better than a drum without a drum? And Tammo because, to me, he was the most realistic. He didn't have any special powers like Martin II or have martins sword and that's why he won. He had one dream from him that didn't tell him what to do, but who to ask. Also, I noticed there was no personal dispute between him and Damug Warfang. He was just an all around average hare that you always hear about in the background of the story. That's why I think it's so interesting. Mr. Jacques really got this book right IMO
I love how the Long Patrol operates like a real military. I do Civil War reenactments and it's cool to see a group in Redwall that mirrors my company for reenactment.
I liked Sergeant Clubrush, from The Long Patrol, because he acted like a father to the company which is what our Sergeant does.
I also liked Clary, Thyme, and Rosie from Mariel of Redwall, Tarquin as well.
And Basil Stag Hare. Because he is epic.

O wow.... That's crazy!!!

I think Tammo is a bit overated. I mean come on, he's just a regular soldier out of thousands, leads a scouting party and fights in a battle. Then the book gives him the most credit.

The book doesn't give him most of the credit, it's just his story, so it's about him. The only significant thing that happened to him was Martin spoke to him in a dream and it said ask midge what to do. So it was Midge's plan, not Tammo's. So either Midge or Martin would get the credit for that whole idea of sneaking into the rapscallions camp. Also, the fact that he's just a regular soldier makes it that much more interesting and, if anything, makes it the opposite of overrated (whatever that word is). Think about it, he never used martins sword or killed the main villain. And he didn't become general of the long patrol after the book, just a simple, yet respectable rank of captain. So in conclusion, it was the story of a simple hare who joined the long patrol with no super powers or killing the main villain, but just his personal journey.
You're right, ;)

wow i never thought of it like that, nice and i thought he was more than captin but i havent read the book for a long times so im probably wrong
Rake nightfur was the toughest and best!
I beg to differ! Haha
Tammo was quite excellent!
My favorite Long Patrol hare name is definitely:
Sabretache
He was also quite a spiffin hare wot wot!
I liked Rubbadub a lot

I liked Rubbadub a lot
Baraboom Baraboom drrrruppitydruppity BOOM BOOM!!!! ;D
Rubbadub was awesome! Deff my second favorite!
any long patrol hare that uses claymore or rapier
Basil Stag Hare for the win ya can't beat a stag their ya wee lass. ;D
I liked Basil, though he's not my favorite. Maybe it's because I read the long patrol first and redwall as one of the last that I like Tammo so much better.
I liked Wonwill and Rake and Saberstache and, and, all of them!
All of them ;D (except Scarum he was awful).
I like The Major from the Long Patrol and Tammo and Buckler
Laird Bosie McScutta of Bowlaynee
Tammo and Pasque were also Awsome.
Possibly Buckler Kordyne. I am trying to think of the ones in Rakkety Tam, but I never managed to keep many of them straight... ;D
Tammo, and Hon Rosie...though I can't remember if she was in the Long Patrol or not.
Hon Rosie and Tarquin Woodsorrel, and Quartle and Porters
. . . . I've never yet seen a hare I didn't like. ;) :P Of course, by now, that means I won't in teh series. I loved Tammo, for these reasons:

Those might not be the words I'd use, but those are my reasons.
That's not to say Tammo's my favorite - Because while I like him very much, he's not. My favorite hare is Major What'shis name, the one in
Rakkety Tam.
Mhhm Its a hard choice but I'll go with the two brothers from Lord Brocktree Southpaw and Bobweave.
Though Lieutenant Mario from the Long Patrol Had such a awesome name, he just needed to come up on some vermin and be like:
"Its'a me, Mario!"
Anyway, I like Brigadier Crumshaw the most.
Same! I like all of the hares though. I really like the Brigadier and the traveling minstrel in Doomwyte.
