 I'll join group A.

Seeing Sir Frederick's inability to read the sign, a kindly town watchman translated the notices into English for him.

James Gryphon

The notices were mostly in the same vein; all but one of them promised money and prestige for signing up to participate in a holy jihad against England.

After thanking the kindly old women Sir Fredrick ripped all the notices down. She then informed him that a great lion hunted along the eastern road and a reward would be given to the man who killed it.

Leaving on the opposite side of town, Sir Frederick was attacked by bandits.

James Gryphon

Sir Frederick was overwhelmed by the bandits. They defeated him easily, stole everything he owned, and buried him alive.

The unusually heavy rains that season washed away the dirt and made the boards of his crude coffin soggy and weak.  Pulling himself out of what should have been his grave, he allowed the rains to give him the first shower since the start of his journey, and, undeterred from his adventures, he continued onward.

Sir Frederick was deathly afraid of being bathed. As soon as the rain stopped, he abandoned his quest to go and roll in mud.

The mud protected him from insects and sun, and rejuvenated his worn-out skin with its healing mineral properties.

Groddil

Unfortunately, while the mud protected him, it did so too well. The heat from the sun solidified the mud, turning Sir Frederick into a human statue.

James Gryphon

Then Sir Fredrick heard what sounded like the roar of a lion.

The lion attacked Sir Frederick, carrying him to its lair.

Fortunately, Sir Frederick was able to break free of his mold and slay the lion.

Groddil

The battle with the lion was tiring, so Sir Frederick fell asleep afterwards.
