This is for those people who are asking me about doing art of their characters. I would love to do art for you (those who I still owe your patience is appreciated) however, I won't be able to until the Fall. My summer work is just too crazy to have time for art.

Imagine Barbossa from Pirates of the Carribean but a mouse. He has a sword that looks just like the master sword from zelda and has no weird hat like he does in the movie. He has black chain mail armor under the clothes. That's him. Thanks!  :)

  I'll just post now so that I don't forget later.  Could you draw a cat that's black with one white flame shaped stripe on her forehead and stormy gray eyes.  Also, she has a dark purple tunic, a black bow and a black quiver.  Oh!  And a dagger in her black belt.  Thanks!

 Twin hare sergeants, one armed with enough to outfit the entire regiment:Twin claymores sheathed over the shoulders, 12+ daggers/knives hidden up her sleeves, down her boots, and in her coat, ball and chain as belt with no spikes, sling belted with the ball and chain, buckler with a wide strap, with a custom dirk-holder, dark green traveling coat with a small double sided ax, and a bunch of daggers, inside the coat. (I think that's all)

and the other a boxing hare, with a collapsible bow and a coat with a dark green/brown side and a sandy colored side. I would appreciate you doing the dark green side out if you'll do it in colour.

If you do these, I will hero-worship you, and so will my fan fiction co-writer, we used them in our fan fiction. Thanks in advance! I'll be willing to wait if you're going to draw it.

Just thought I would upload this too... I work at a children's camp and wer have a giant pirate ship. I do artwork all around camp so I themed the ship around Redwall type stuff. Here is my black fox up high on a spar!

Armour: chain mail, small helmet with ears sticking out, the armour and helmet are made of a black metal.
Scene: Dranfor is standing on the Redwall battlements, looking down to the inside of the abbey, staring at the carnage of the slain Redwallers, and those that weren't killed that were penned up in small cages. The vermin army is looting all that can be looted.

Photoshop Elements mostly... sometimes a little ArtRage too. I've got my ol' faithful Wacom Grafire tablet to draw on.

Don't worry, there's no stress for me in any of this. I do the drawings for fun when I feel like. I'm happy to be able to make others smile by seeing their characters drawn.  ;D

Just wondering, have you ever tried Paint Tool Sai? I've been using it a bit lately, and really diggin' it (the last picture in my art thread was all in Sai). The other program I love is Corel Painter Essentials (if you have a Wacom, it might have come with it? Mine did)--the fine point pen brush is great for lines and flat color. I like some of the watercolor brushes too.

By the way, any advice for someone that wants to learn to draw animals? I would love to doodle some of my Redwall characters, but I can't. D:

I can put up a "how to" type sheet for basic Redwall animals since I have sketches of most of the diffident species. I'll put that up here soon.

And thanks, that would be completely awesome! I ended up doodling a couple of my characters as humans, a while back, just for fun (Damyan, and my first Redwall MUCK character Lillian). I like being able to draw my own characters doing stupid things, though, and it's sad I can't doodle any of these characters because I can't draw rats (or others...but let's face it, pretty much all my characters are rats XD).

I can do art on paper yes. Lots of different mediums. It's just easier and  cleaner to do the art on my tablet.

The colors are kind of a gradient at the top, but I draw it anywhere from actually gradient to like, only three separate colors. lol

Pose is up to you! Maybe her being silly, or thinking she's being menacing or something. Like "Hey. DON'T DO CRIMES." Justice!  ;)

Well, I wasn't thinking I would get to these for a looong while and look what happened last night... I just felt like doing these...

I'm making one post per piece this time to explain.

This is the "how-to" sheet. It is based on having a tablet and drawing on that onto your computer screen. It's basically the same as drawing by hand, at least the way I do it. There are fancy things you can do to make it not like hand drawing, but I prefer mine to look hand done.

I always start with three layers.
I make a blue scaffold of my drawing.
Skip to the layer above that, zoom in a little, and use the scaffold to do the main lines. This would be like first drawing in pencil and then in pen. After the pen id done, erase the pencil.
I'll add color by going to the second layer now that the blue scaffold is erased. Fill color with the paint brush tool on middle opacity. I change the opacity so that the color is easier to control and does not dominate the outline.
I add depth by going over the color again on half opacity in the areas I wish to darken.
I use the smudge tool to blend in the second color layer. This would be the same as blending colored pencil or pastels.
Finishing touches like whiskers are done with the smallest paint brush tool.
Ta daaaaa! Tis finished!

And now: beasts of Redwall!

This is of course not exhaustive. I just picked some of the creatures I enjoy drawing and get asked to draw most frequently. All of these are done to be males, honestly to make creatures female I usually only make the muzzle a little smaller and add eyelashes. It's that simple.  :)

"Goodbeasts"> Keep the eyes wide and friendly

Mouse: I consider mouse the "basic" form of all Redwall mammals... mostly. I try to keep the muzzle tight and in close to the head. Mouse ears are fun to draw!

Mole: Not asked for that often but fun creatures to draw. This is only head shots but mole bodies are fun to draw, like sacks of flour kind of. I like their eyes small and beady. Oh, and I never do star nosed moles... I think it looks odd. I draw almost all my creatures fluffy but not moles. Moles have velvet fur.

Hedgehog: Watch out for those spikes! This is quick drawing so much more attention can be added to spikes.

Otter: Gotta give em' attitude, either ready for battle or ready to laugh and feast. Make the nose big and give em' whiskers, otters are whiskery.

Hare: The hare nose is different from the other creatures. This style nose sets hare drawings apart. Ears start small at the base and get larger at the tops. Hare ears are so fun to do!

Badger: Big muzzle, big shoulders, big creature! Make sure you don't mess up on the stripes like I often do. The stripes are black over the eyes not white.

"Vermin"> Making slit shaped eyes helps for that "evil" affect.

Rat: Rats need to have a longer muzzle or they just look like mice. I love adorning rat ears with earrings.

Fox: Oh foxers, you and otters will always be my favorite Redwall characters. Make those ears stand out, pointy! You can add fangs to a fox for a nice bad guy affect.

Stoat: More to them than weasels, they are slightly bulkier, at least the way I draw them. Stoats appear proud in most of my drawings of them.

Weasel: Lanky and wiry, that's what makes them different from stoats in my drawings. Weasels get the longest necks.

Ferret: Love drawing ferrets. I like drawing things with masks.

Pine Martin: An example of drawing bigger Redwall characters. Pine martins get boxy muzzles, same for wolverines and the like.

Of course there's lots more, I might do a second sheet with more someday...

I love the weasel, the fox and the pine martin best.

Fox: I like the fox because of the position of the ears, and the eyes.

Weasel: I love the look he has on his face.

Pine Martin: He looks serious and grave.

I love the ferret! You could use that head for Romsca I think that looks just like her!!!...of course add earrings and scars and the like...and eyelashes, she's a female, but please don't make her muzzle any smaller...but other than that, that would be perfect!    :D :D :D

  I like all of them, but I'd have to say my favorite would be either the otter, the hare or the pine marten.  If you were to add any to this list, though, I'd say add a lizard, wildcat and snake.  ;)

Appearance: He has a look to him which resembled that of a pharaoh, he wears a wrap fabric skirt tucked into the waistline at the centre front and a wesekh around his neck. In his hand he holds a khopesh sword and had gold cuffs studded with rubies around his wrists. His dark brown fur covered all but creamy patch of hair over his chest. His eyes are the like the darkest of night set in two perfect orbs on his face, enhanced by the eyeliner tattooed around them.

Haha, if this goes on, everyone's personal text will say, 'Thanks, BrookSkimmer!' or something. ;D

I should totally try drawing some Redwall characters soon...the only one I've done so far are the sketches of that fox OC of mine from a fanfic idea (the ones I posted in my art thread in the Front Lawns), and I could only do those because he's so twisted and monsterish.

Well first my Mom or sister takes a photo of the drawing with my mom's nice camera. Than I crop and do things to make it look like the really drawing...For example I make the pen lines darker and the colour better and the paper behind it whiter, all on a photo editing website.

Do you use photobucket? Cuase that's what I do a little too.
oh and we don't have a very good camera, but my dad says otherwise :D

No, I did some of these before I got the forms in hopes that they would work out and I wouldn't have too many to do right before. As a result I'm redoing Vela as she seems a bit more evil then the vixen I drew originally.

Those are all super cute! They're all unique and really have their own personalities, I love their expressions -- especially Grollo, Farril, and Spera, there's a lot of character showing through there. And the sketches themselves look great, the hatching is perfect and-- gah, I really love these tournament sketches! You did a wonderful job, great work!

Can I make you some cake? You deserve a cake for all of that work. *starts baking*

Plain brown trousers (If your preferred drawing style is with pants), belt with brass buckle.
Weapons: Sabre/cutlass/rapier (Any of'em) hanging, sheathed, at his side. Steampunk brass pistol thrust through belt, if you can't draw guns, it's fine to leave it out.
Appearance: Red fox, white chest, black paws and eartip. half of left ear is missing, left eye has three scars running vertically across it.

What were the rewards for?

Instead of requests all the time, how about art trades? That way, both sides are equal and happy. And if you can't draw, compensate it with whatever other talents you have.

Truth be told, I dislike it when people ask for free pictures. No offense to those that do it.
