That's not a title (Impatience OOC:), that's how I'm starting to feel (waiting for RP's), more exasperated though if I'm being entirely honest. This is an official announcement that I'm going to host an RP, but I've got NO clue as to what I'm going to do yet. (feel free to spitball ideas until I modify the OP). More details when I know what the heck I'm going for.

Ideas I'm looking for, in order of importance:

- BASIC plot (did you see that first word? It means simple, with little detail)(did you see that parenthesis? It was sarcastic :P)
- Location/Setting
- Scenario (state of the world)
- Time Period/Technological Period

Welp, never mind, I figured it out... Just give me a bit to put it all in here....

Howlin' Tavern, Stormbreak

It was the eve of the Spring season, winter had been as it always was, long and cold, and many a beast had gathered to celebrate the change.... Or at least that was the excuse they'd give to any passersby. Boisterous tables and drunken antics were the rule for the night, so much so that the owner couldn't be bothered even to blink with the sound of crashing dishes or smashed tankards. Amidst the chaos, an outsider entered the building with a slow shuffle. Nobeast particularly cared, most didn't even notice the weasel until he collapsed a good seven paces from the counter. The guffaws and dancing about continued without the slightest acknowledgement of the fallen vermin, save a handful that were too close not to notice. A startlingly small wolf that had been sitting by himself left his chair to kneel by the newcomer, turning his body over. The weasel reached weakly for and removed from his back, what was clearly a sword, though it was almost entirely wrapped up. He handed it toward the wolf, and implored his services with a raspy voice, "P-please.... Bring.. Mossflower w-wood...... He w-won't let my spirit r-rest... 'lest ye bring...... bring." His eyes faded as his final request was swallowed by partying. The creatures of the Northeast were superstitious ones, and weren't partial to leaving the pleas of the dead unanswered. The wolf grasped the binding, pausing for a short while, as if lost to the world for but a few short moments. When the time had passed, he seemed to understand exactly what the cryptic desire of the now dead weasel had been. He looked to the small group that was still watching with mild interest, caressing the red pommel stone, "Well, what say you?" They all looked from one to the other, before a younger squirrel piped up, echoing the thoughts of those present, "Sure, why not?"

And so it is with such carefree words that our story, begins.

Stormbreak is a moderately-sized, bustling town of the Northeast, in the valley of two ranges of mountains. The land is ruled by great beasts, badger Lords, and kingly wolves, though no race is inherently associated with any faction. The plot is simple, a small band of assorted beasts will journey from the Northern, snowy landscape to the lush forests of Mossflower to give or return the item. What could possibly go wrong?  ;) There are no race/alignment restrictions outside of no, "great beasts," (wolves, badgers, and I'm on the fence about wildcats) vermin aren't looked down on as evil, and "woodlanders" aren't viewed as weak. I will say that there are next to no moles, voles, otters, or ferrets in the region (mostly due to climate), so those species are soft-capped at 1, character limit is 2. I currently do not have a set party size, so everyone's welcome to throw in an app. Additionally, if you would like to challenge any of the rules I have set in place (say, you want to play a wildcat, or propose something about the plot, etc.), by all means, shoot me a PM as nothing is set in stone.

Characters:

Dann's Character: Liten Glaciär

Liten
Name: Liten Glaciär

Species: Wolf

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Appearance: As stated before, Liten is incredibly small for a wolf (just barely edging out over otter size). His fur is almost entirely white, the only black sections being the oval rings around his eyes, the thin patches running from the ovals to the back of his shoulders, and the patchy blackness on the back of his shoulders. He has inherited the red eyes of his family, though his are bright, piercing, and vibrant as compared to the dark, cold eyes of his parents. He also bears the blood-red, double-scratch tattoo of the clan over his left eye running top down. He wears a thick, black tunic with matching pants, as well as a light gray cloak, all lined with fur. Additionally, he carries a dark brown traveling pack, and wears a scarlet ribbon wound many times around his left arm just under the shoulder.

Personality: Neither terse nor friendly, yet not devoid of emotion either. Liten is very straightforward, honest, and well-spoken. He does not posses friends, and is thus reserved around other beasts. Even so, he is quite polite, and capable of putting on a friendly air if the opportunity presents itself.

History: Liten is a wolf, which normally would have made him nothing short of royalty, but the combination of his incredibly small size and his abnormal fur spurred his family to label him as weak and cursed. Though technically still part of the family, he was a blemish that most would rather be rid of, hence his placement in the Reconnaissance and Skirmisher Brigade as a "Border Ghost." (Soldiers that patrolled and spied by themselves for extended periods of time, they were expected to bring in intel about possible foes before the political move was even made. They crossed paths with opposing ghosts often, and inevitably had to fight to the death, sometimes leading to more fights between Skirmishers [border guards, bred for war]) It was expected that Liten would die in this line, but he proved to be rather stubborn, and quickly became the most valuable and accomplished Ghost.

The only beast who had shown any kindness towards Liten was from another family of wolves that was good friends with the Glaciärs. She was a humble wolf that forewent the normal life of the politically influential, and learned the art of cooking. Liten met her when he was 12, and to his surprise , she greeted him with the same warm smile she had the other members of his family. Henceforth, she was the only living thing he talked to at length about any subject, which served to preserve not only his sanity, but his personality as well. She's now feverish, having been deathly sick for over a month. Consequently, he has been blamed (as he is "cursed"), and is currently un-welcome at either inner-fort (the housing for wolves and their brood). He leaves with a tinge of regret, but consoles himself with the fact that he cannot help his only friend anyway... Even so, a shred of fear naws away at him.

Weapon: Longsword, Knife

Other: Liten is ambidextrous, and is renowned for his survival skills, swordplay, and agility.

Skarz's Character: Plenith

Plenith
Name: Plenith

Species: Pine marten

Age: Young adult

Gender: Male

Appearance: Dark brown fur with a yellow throat. He wears a tan, wide-sleeved tunic and black pantaloons, and a black woodsman hat.

Personality: Somewhat critical of others, not very trusting. After one gains his trust, though, he is a good friend.

History: Lived in the Northeast his whole life, working as a farmer, but wants to leave.

Weapon: Spear

LT Sandpaw's Character: Bryn

Bryn
Name: Bryn

Species: Squirrel

Age: Young Adult

Gender: Male

Appearance: Standing at a decent height Bryn is a stocky young squirrel of good health and pleasant features. He's covered in patchy red colored fur and garbed in the thick woolen clothing of native northerners. Draped across Bryn's shoulders is a heavy grey cloak and a quiver of bolts.

Personality: Bryn's temperament is that of a go-lucky jokester, also highly referred to as an insecure simpleton. Bryn's always the loudest in the group and the first to sign up or volunteer no matter how silly or dangerous the situation might be, almost as if he's trying to be noticed and appreciated constantly. His avid need to please has a tendency to make him hard to trust, and it doesn't help that he's a notorious liar.

History: Wanting no more of their ridiculous son, Bryn's family disowned him and sent him packing from his home drey early one summer morning. Left with nowhere else to turn Bryn traveled southward into the town of Stormbreak begging at folks' paws for a crust to eat. His youth and sad eyes softened the hearts of many rugged northerners who found what little they could spare to stave off Bryn's hunger. He spent the better part of a  season begging for his livelihood and it seemed that he might remain a terminal bum. His life took a turn however when a fellow beggar made as if to steal from the local bakery and Bryn moved in to intercept the newfangled criminal, seeking to commandeer the ill-gotten gains for himself. Interestingly their conflict resulted in a scuffle which the townsfolk, gathered by the hue and cry, waded into as Bryn seemed to be losing handedly.

With little regard to his earlier state Bryn was deemed trustworthy by the constable and named "a decent fellow" for his selfless actions, of which was presumed he had little to gain. At least that's what the constable said, Bryn saw no need to correct this logical flaw. So despite being highly untrustworthy Bryn's eagerness to 'prove' himself was taken seriously by the guard, and the youthful vagabond was given clothes and weapons and named a member of the town watch.

Weapon: Staff, and a crossbow with bolts.

Ashleg's Character: Xemyss (?DECEASED?)

Xemyss
Name: Xemyss (Pronounced: Zem-iss)

Species: Monitor Lizard

Age: Adult

Gender: Male

Appearance: Xemyss is a large green monitor lizard with reddish eyes. Because he is unconditioned to the weather of the north due to his species, he wears heavy cloaks of animal skins and furs to keep warm.

Personality: Quiet, headstrong, stubborn. Does not share info nor objects and can seem more savage than the ordinary creature at times.

History: Born in a tropical Island, Xemyss left his family to go to the north because he wanted to prove that he was strong enough. Or so he says. It is, in fact, a lie, despite being the general story beasts are given.

In actuality, he was shipwrecked here.

Weapon: Spear and his own claws.

Cornflower's Character: Lieseil

Lieseil
Name: Lieseil Skipai

Species: Otter

Age: 21

Gender: Female

Appearance: Lieseil is the typical height and weight for an otter her age, with thick dark brown fur. She has brown eyes and one black ear. Wears a thick brown tunic and pants, and a long heavy black cloak. Has a few scars scattered around her arms and legs.

Personality: Lieseil is a terrible pessimist, and very opinionated. She doesn't mind sharing her opinions, either - Quite the opposite. Many creatures would describe her as loud and hard to get along with or extremely disagreeable. When she sees a problem, she wants to fix it as quickly and efficiently as she can. Lieseil finds moral grey areas hard to deal with, as well, preferring things to be black and white.

History: Lieseil has always traveled, or at least she has as long as she can remember. However her family decided to settle down and live with a clan when she was around 17, and she quickly figured out that holt life wasn't for her. She then decided to try her paw at sailing and traveled the seas until she was 20 and had enough of ships for a while. Lieseil had never seen the North, so she headed there and eventually found Stormbreak.

Weapon: Sling and javelin.

Thanquol's Character: Felix

Felix
Name:Felix

Species: Mink

Age: Adult

Gender: Male

Appearance: A tall, burly Mink with light brown colored fur with a little white mixed in. Wears an old, green-colored tunic with a brown cloak.

Personality: Avaricious, bad-mannered, ill-tempered, and somewhat of a cutthroat, Felix isn't exactly what one would call a "Goodbeast".

History:Born in the frozen north to a rather large family, Felix spent most of his life workings as a mercenary, offering his services to any beast willing to pay the price for his services, which was usually just food and a warm place to sleep.

Weapon: Wields a shortsword and a dagger

Other: Has a strange dislike for Badgers

Jack's Character: Kifal (Not present)

Kifal

Verdauga's Character: Maeus

Maeus

Name: Maeus

Age: 21 seasons

Gender: male

Species: wildcat

Appearance: Matted orange, black, and white fur. Wears faded red tunic and patched grey-brown trousers, and a heavy, patched brown coat.

Weaponry:Blunted sword and a sling (It's a stone on a leather cord. A sling is the closest thing I could think of.)

Backstory:Maeus lived a rather calm life, his parents being farmers. He left home while in his teens and eventually became the leader of a small band of vermin. After an unusually prosperous raid, he found himself facing the daggers of his troop. Attacked and left for dead, the only reason he lives is because woodlanders came across him, and decided to nurse him back to health. He returns every now and again to visit them. He had wandered north in late winter and came to Stormbreak, where he hoped to wait out the winter.

Personality: Conciliatory. An effect of his betrayal, Maeus tends to be less trusting of vermin, and more cordial to woodlanders, almost becoming reckless to prove that he is different.

Jarky's Character: Thrun

Thrun
Name: Thrun 'Barrelbrain' Broadclaw
Species: Arctic fox
Age: Thought to be somewhere around 20 seasons
Gender: Male
Appearance: Huge and brawny, coarse white fur with a slight limp and half a tail missing. Wears a colourful but rather frayed quilt as a cloak and a once fine pink velvet gown belted with a piece of rope. The gown is equipped with several poorly sewn on pockets.
Personality: Thrun is a rather eccentric beast, known to throw in strange comments partway through a conversation. He is also quite mad and loves to collect strange objects.
History: As a young 'un, Thrun lived on the far north coast. When his parents went missing after a corsair attack, Thrun journeyed south and inland. The journey drove him half-mad. Eventually, the young arctic fox found safety in Stormbreak, though he was quite reluctant to live there and found himself a peaceful cave at the base of a nearby mountain. He has since spent his life wandering around talking to himself and picking up little trinkets found frozen in the snow.
Weaponry: A staff and a long, rusty sword, not to mention all the other little trinkets he possesses that could be used as weapons.
Other: Has a mute Arctic Snow Lizard as a pet.

Shiteer's Character: Tergen

Tergen
Name: Tergen Mintail.

Species: Squirrel.

Age: 18 seasons.

Gender: male.

Appearance: Jet black fur with a white line above right eye, almost like a scar, and a white tail. He wears a fur tunic/vest that comes down to just above the knees and a brown belt with a scabbard of the same colour. His quiver matches the belt and scabbard and sits on his right shoulder, rather than his left. His arrows are fletched with light blue feathers.

Personality: Honest and friendly, yet privately reserves judgment of someone's character until he's got to know them properly. Looks at all sides of an argument before coming to a decision, yet holds his beliefs strongly and is always ready to have a friendly argument with someone, and appreciates it when they can convince him of their point of view. Is slow to anger but can also be slow to forgive.

History: Tergen grew up in a small settlement at the bottom of the mountain. When he was twelve seasons old, his family moved to Stormbreak due to a fire that destroyed their home and most of their other possessions. For the first season, Tergen and his sister did small jobs for food or money while their father set up shop as a carpenter. During that winter, his sister and mother both died of the fever, leaving Tergen and his father to fend for themselves. Tergen soon discovered that he wasn't any good at carpentry and joined the army instead, learning the skills and theory of warfare. Unfortunately, he was wounded on his right arm, forcing him to quit and return to Stormbreak, only to find that his father was on his death bed, due to a head wound from a flying bowl when he was delivering a batch of new tankards to the tavern.
Now alone in the world but with a house to stay and some money saved from his father, Tergen went back to doing odd jobs, until he got a job at the tavern, washing the dishes. His paw had now healed and he'd been promoted to cook.

Weapon: Curved sabre and bow.

Other: Tergen is an expert mimic, though he considers his skill a bit too rash and impulsive to use very frequently.

The Skarzs

Well, there is Redwall/Salamandastron under attack (which kind of requires a more fleshed out plot to be interesting), an adventure into some area of Mossflower where there is some kind of danger, an alternate universe RP (which also requires planning and development), perhaps a role-switch, where Redwall or Salamandastron is already taken, and the characters need to fight to get it back (though there would be a lot of back story to make up if nothing is played about the beginning of the events). . .

Just a couple ideas for plot.

Thanks Skarz, I figured it out last night before I went to bed. I'm going to try something a bit different this time around (which is pretty much Dann standard at this point), but your comment makes me wonder if we should develop some sort of archive of ideas/creative prompts for future GM's.

This was just supposed to be a simple adventure! Move from point A to point B, done, achieve first finished RP albeit, by kinda cheating the length. Then I just HAD to go finish developing the history and everything went &$*@%^! Now my mind can't stop thinking up how many curveballs I can throw at this, and what I could do for follow-up RP's/character building continuations.... It was supposed to be so simple!  :'( :'( :'(

*ahem*

I guess I'll just have to exhibit some blasted self control and force myself to keep it simple (Lord knows the complicated ones never get finished these days).

Maybe that's because those participating are too concerned with messing up the story's progression to actively shape what's going on. Leaving everything to the GM which makes keeping an RP alive and people interested no small task.
