Title: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Delthion on December 26, 2014, 04:01:44 AM
The M.R.S. Genesis the first working ship of it's kind had just taken off from the Mossflower Republic, and the planet had just become far enough away so that it appeared to be a large star, Hastigeth Carrantha the captain of the Genesis, reflected back on the previous happenings of the day, the ship had been outfitted for its mission: To go to the eleventh planet, Nsyslest and find what happened to the food stores and the inhabitants of the Arkship. He had had his pick of the bridge crew and knew he had chosen his officers well. He was a little uneasy at having such an inexperienced beast on the comms and as the pilot, but her simulation scores had been outstanding. There had been a gathering so great that it almost surpassed the number of beasts watching the Arkship's take off that fateful day. He secretly feared the worst, that the ship had accidentally awoken some new and mysterious race of hostile creatures, they had just resolved the last of the conflicts on Moss. He looked around at his bridge crew once more before sitting down. "Prepare to go to Dimensional Drive."

OOC: Now this RP will require very quick responses, as it can't continue without the response of various positions, so if you could try to post at least once every time you're on if you're needed. :)

Joseph Riggurt, head doctor of the Genesis, overlooked his health records. All the soldiers and other personnel had been checked on to ensure they were fit for service, and all had been approved, save for an engineering assistant, who'd come down with a cold. The crewbeasts of the M.R.S Genesis were now fit to face whatever Nsyslest threw at them.

"All medical exams are finished," the hare reported to Hastigeth via his mouthpiece. "I will be on the bridge in a moment."

"Very good, we're making good time. Where is the diplomat? Angelica I believe her name was?" said Hastigeth turning to his first officer.

"Right here sir," a tall slender wolf said smartly as she walk on to the bridge "Angelica Savill of the Keltar Province and the direct representative of the Counsel of the Mossflower Republic. You are Hastigeth Carrantha, Captain of the M.R.S Genesis, previously captain of the phoenix, decorated by the council on three different occasions. I read all of your files before taking this assignment,"

OOC: If you don't mind the history lesson. I can change anything I said about your characters, just ask. Oh and could you have it so that angelica didn't get her health exam and needs a bit of persuading to get it done.

OOC: Sure, just it's the M.R.S. Genesis.

"Quite right, very thorough and meticulous, I wish I could say the same thing for your health exam, haven't even taken it and we don't know if your body can tolerate Hyperspatial Dimensional Drive!" said Hastigeth raising an eyebrow.

"Ah, hello!" said Joseph, who had just entered the bridge. "Thank you for reminding me to give her a health exam; I didn't include her in the crew examination. Now, if she will allow me to do a scan, we can complete the health records."

"Well then, since you are refusing to take the test I am afraid we must turn back and drop you off, then we may proceed on our mission. Helm, bring us about." said Hastigeth, hiding his smile.

"Belay that! This is a blatant misuse of your power. I am a representative of the council, You can't just put me back," She said at the absurdity of the demand.

Joseph turned to the wolf, who seemed bent on avoiding a medical exam. "With all due respect, we have every right to put you back. Regulations clearly state that all crew members and passengers must recieve a check-up before embarking on an expedition. You are from the government, and as such have never recieved a scan. Such a scan would only take a moment, and would tell me if you are really suited for this mission."

The first officer walked across the bridge and took his seat to the captains right. "Sorry I'm late sir, the officials on the planet have had a busy day, and it took forever for anyone to leave via shuttle. When shall we depart sir?"

"Alright then," Joseph said as they entered the infirmary. "Stand next to the wall, and I'll do a scan with this device here. The scan will tell me a number of important things, including if you're suited for space travel."

Angelica went over and stood by the scanning device "Just get this over with," she said moodily. She did not like her schedule  being uprooted like this. Even if it would only take a few minutes.

Casta propped his feet up in his own personal office, a communication device stuffed in his ear he scanned the ships main functions again making sure there was no breaches in the hull or hacks in the main system. he flicked his com on allowing him to speak directly to the captain.
"All locked down and ready here Cap, We got no hitchhikers nor stowaways if'n ya don't count the stuck up delegate onboard, Ya'll are ready to ride and thunder so lets get a'moving." The Squirrel chuckled to himself releasing his com button leaning back, ready for a long ride. He had never been very good at the whole mechanical thing, but you could never hope for a better fighter.

OOC: Okay I'm here, and as security officer I supposed my job Is to check for anything wrong with ship security, but if there's something else just say so.  8)

Casta sighed, stomping out of his office he began the short walk to the bridge, he walked into the bridge. Marching straight up to Hastigeth he saluted smartly,
"Tennet, Casta reportin as ordered, Sir." Casta called smartly.

Joseph flicked a switch, turning on the machine. It beeped and flashed for about thirty seconds, and then showed a report. "Everything seems to be fine," Joseph said. "No bone abnormalities or problems with your organs. I think you're good to go."

Lee Allen was unbelievably excited. She had never traveled dimensionally, or at all. But she had scored well on the simulations, and the simulations were supposedly accurate. "Course set for Nsyslest Shutting down tactical systems... Sensors staying steady... Ready to go to Dimensional Drive, factor one. Engaging..." Eyes were fastened on every window on the ship, as regular space blurred and then vanished, replaced by swirling blues and purples.

A comms signal beeped and was patched through. "Lieutenant Commander Walker to the bridge... All systems go, captain. We're holding up just fine."

"I could have told you that," Angelica humphed. Sh down from the machine and gave Joseph an annoyed look before leaving the infirmary and heading for her quarters. There had been no offices to spare so she would have to make do with her quarters.

"Very good, engage factor two." said Hastigeth, smiling with pride, his ship had been the first to do that and stay together. "Anything on the sensors?" he asked looking back at the ops officer.
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Rusvul on December 26, 2014, 10:04:33 PM
OOC: Lee Allen is the person who'd see things on sensors, no? Or am I wrong?

BIC: Allen nodded. "With pleasure... Factor two engaged." The ship shook slightly, but held and suffered no further disturbance. Out of the windows, the blues and purples shifted into turquoises and greens. "Our current relative speed is... Three lightseconds per second, sir. Nothing unusual on sensors."
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Delthion on December 26, 2014, 10:09:54 PM
OOC: We don't have an ops officer so that will work.

"Very good, bring us out for a while, we'll want to scan everything that we come across. The Arkship didn't have sensors. We sacrificed those for space." said Hastigeth.

OOC: So sorry, today has been extremely hectic.
BIC:
The stoick first officer turned to the captian: "Sir, I'm a little concerned with regard the crew. This is going to be a new experience for all of us, but some of the younger officers might not take it well. How do you think they will respond to the situation? Personally, I think a good crew has to be ready to react to anything. But for some reason, I don't get that impression with this crew."
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Delthion on December 26, 2014, 10:59:06 PM
"Oh, don't worry, they were only assigned to this because of their outstanding scores on the simulations. Although I am not certain about one of them. Angelica barely got a passing grade. She was constantly arguing about not having to go through with it as she was going on the mission with or without a passing score." said Hastigeth inwardly smiling at the stubbornness of the wolf. She was going to make this a comical journey.

OOC: Faiy is this alright?

Brushdale sighed. "I see. Well, I suppose we will see what this crew is made of soon enough."
He looked over at the young mouse in the pilot seat.
"Helm, do we have a ETA for our arrival at Nsyslest?"

Ensign Lee looked up from the panel. "About a week and a half, sir. This ship is much faster than the Arkship... Our engines are a bit higher-grade than nuclear propulsion."

OOC: That time frame okay?
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Izeroth on December 27, 2014, 04:19:35 AM
OOC: I can change this, if you want.

As usual, Drod Estir was in the data repository. The aptly-named room, which was outfitted with a touchscreen panel and a holo-book player, was one of the few things onboard the Genesis that the ferret found entertaining. Information on all manner of subjects could be found here, and one could stay for hours on end without getting bored.

Currently, Drod was looking at an article on the planet Nsyslest. According to the blue-and-green screen, the planet's night was 5 hours longer; the day 3 hours shorter. One moon lit the sky, but its light was slightly weaker than that of Earth's moon. The flora and fauna of the planet were quite dangerous, at least in the pictures.

Drod was apprehensive, to say the least. What did I sign up for?

"If I may be excused, Captian? I have some matters to attend to in my quarters."

Nyroc Brushdale walked into the cramped room that was his quarters. He didn't think life was difficult on the ship. Definitely less difficult then the last mission.
He walked to his hardly unpacked suitcase. Taking a pad from inside it, he turned it on. It displayed a image of the ship, tactics, things that he should know. Swiping through the images, he stopped at the photo of a female badger. He stared it it for a few seconds, and slammed the pad down on his bed. I am on a mission. He thought.I don't have time for this!
Shuffling through his case he found the barrel and handle of his radion rifle, yet to be re-assembled. He felt the cool, smooth metal. The excellent build quality of the weapon. He put it down, and thought, only for a moment, that he will soon get the chance to use it.

Lee frowned and tapped a few symbols on the console. "I'm not sure, Captain. I'm detecting a very faint emission trail... I can't tell what it is. It might just be a sensor ghost. I'll have to drop us out of-" She was interrupted as the ship shook and trembled. "A ship has uncloaked and opened fire. Not a class of ship I've ever seen before. They have better shielding than we do, and radion weaponry."

A comms beep was heard, followed by Walker's voice. "Walker to the bridge. We've got a problem, Captain. They've targeted our engine. We won't have more than dim one for about an hour."

"Silent" the albino squirrel had been watching diagnostics for everything related to their travel, engines, generators, even the shields. So the combination of a large jolt and a sudden drop in shield  strength spelled out what was happening quite clearly. She was out of her seat and on her way to the gen room.... which was really more of a house than anything else. Upon arrival, she found the section dedicated to shielding. They had gotten lucky, there was only one attacker which meant that they could only attack one side, they had also made the tactical error of attacking from a broadside instead of the front or back. This meant the shielding would be easily diverted, and the response of their own weapons would be far more destructive given that they had access to all but the opposite side of the ship.

She started to re-route the dedication of energy to the side under fire, a total of 60% of the power on the other side being transferred. Upon attempting to execute the operation, she was met with an error... The console she was using didn't have the authority to perform the task. The squirrel growled inwardly as she grudgingly sent the command as a request to both the main bridge, and the engineering department, "I'm going to have to "fix" this thing before something like this happens again, ranking goes out the window when lives are at stake!".

OOC: I'm thinking that much makes sense?

Casta coughed heavily jumping away from his station where he had been napping. Pressing a series of entry codes he took command of the initial recorders along the M.R.S Genesis's flank. He projected a holographic 3D representation of the ship and scanned for breaches In the hull.
"Captain there has been excessive damage to the armor around two cabins including mine, we need to close off any air leaks in there." Casta yelled out, "Permission to move to our attacked flank to repulse a possible attack?"

"Yes, fire the Ion beams attack pattern Omega. Target their weapons and fire the Radion cannons! Divert all auxiliary power to the shields. If you want to advance in the Republic then you will need to respect your elders." Hastigeth marched back onto the bridge and said. "Commander, you, LT. Casta, Ensign Lee and Doctor Riggurt. "Sir, I've compiled sensor results to make a report on the ship,  and the damage done to it so far." Turning back to his screen, Jenbean recited the information. "The ship is powered by two I-a2b solar ionization reactors, supplementing power to a Sepma 30-2 sublight engine as main thrust with two F-31 ion egines as streering. Armament includes 10 ArMek SW-7a ion pulses, with 7 CEC Ap/11 proton firing beams, and a secondary weapon of 3 Phylon F1 Radion turbocannons. Note on the engines - they are highly modified, suggesting the ship's  crew is pretty skilled,  and they have some replacement parts. They have about a month's worth of consumables, several support androids. I can't dechipher the make, and ID codes won't match anything. The ship itself is heavily modified, and as far as I can tell they have heavier shielding then us, possibly H-class. Military-grade weapons, also heavily modified. From the intel collected during the attack, I should assume they can re-direct power to boost shield or weapondry. Hmmmm, looks like we left the artificial gravity and acceleration compensators working, Brushdale shouldn't have any technical problems with the ship. Judging the amount of energy we pumped into them, the main reactor is shutdown to stop overheating, and looking at heat immisions, the auxiliary reactor is too tiny to power engines. She's perfect for boarding, sir. But one thing... they have an online comm device."

"Commander, I have a slight problem. I just mentioned to the Captain that there is an online comm device on the ship. I advise destroying it, or at least leaving the ship ASAP, but that's just a suggestion, not Captain's orders.

Two on the bridge, one in the engine room and the other appears to be." Casta checked the scanner gain glancing around the room, drawing his Ion pistol. Having materialized with the rest of the crew, Joseph looked around. There were no corpses in this area, but the head doctor knew that some of the enemy ship's crew had died. With any luck, he would be able to perform a scan to see how they had been killed, and relay the information back to the Genesis. Such information could be useful in future battles.

"We should stun the living beasts," Riggurt suggested. "They won't be able to tell us why they're here if we kill them."

"Never mind Doc, but perhaps you should mind." Turning off his com Casta dodged around the others and ran beside Brushdale.
"Commander I may be worried for no reason but as a tactical officer none of this makes sense. I highly suggest a more cautionary approach to the bridge." Almost instinctively Casta switched his pistol back to high power.

"Caution is always advisable, Mr. Longeye." Said Brushdale as they neared the bridge.
"Here's our plan: We go in quietly, weapons on high stun. Once wece secured the bridge, Allen comes in. Allen, you download as much as you can from the bridge controls. Get any system information, anything we will need. Then we get out of here as fast as possible. Let's go."
The three officers approached the bridge entrance, when Brushdale and Longeye went in.

Casta and Brushdale burst into the bridge weapons at the ready, moving quickly Casta stumbled over the body of a downed ferret. Rolling Casta popped back up only to drop down again, narrowly avoiding a proton beam. Responding quickly he returned fire putting an Ion pules into his attackers foot and another into it's head.
Turning he watched as a rat raised a pistol towards Brushdale's back.
"Commander, drop." Casta yelled raising his pistol unable to get a clear shot around his large commander.
Brushdale moved and the rat fired his Ion pulse barely missing the commander and hitting Casta in the shoulder.
"Aaaagh!" The squirrel officer yelled in pain as the bolt connected, leaving him twitching and writhing.

Joseph waited outside the bridge, his pistol drawn. If all went well, Longeye and Brushdale would subjugate the bridge in the next thirty seconds.

The hare heard shots, ion and proton by the sound of it. A subsequent yell of pain eminating from the bridge reminded the doctor that, while Longeye and Brushdale were using weapons on stun, their enemies were not. Every instinct inside Joseph told him to go and help the wounded beast, but he had been given his orders. Orders were to be followed, even when the lives of beasts were at stake.

"CASTA!" Brushdale looked for the doctor.
"Joseph, get in here, now!"
Suddenly filled with rage, the badger broke from cover and fired a fully charge shot to where the attacking beast was. Not knowing wether it was effective or not, he plowed into the smokey gloom the blast created.

OOC: I don't think it would, he's just an npc after all.

Joseph, hearing his name called, ran into the room. It was full of smoke, and appeared to have been pacified. Three beasts, all presumably stunned, lay upon the ground. Brushdale stood near the captain's chair, holding a smoking rifle. The slumping silhouette of Longeye could be seen in the smoky distance.

"Brushdale!" Joseph called, "What happened?"

"He was trying to kill us doctor. I actually don't think he's dead yet." Brushdale walked to the beast lying on the ground. He had sustained burns, but Beyshdales shot was off. Too far to the right. The man was unconscious.

Casta jerked the pain in his shoulder was fading, he couldn't feel left arm arm or really the entire left side of his body. Hearing Brushdale yell and several energy blasts. Casta held still his entire body quivering, there was several footsteps to his left, they were lighter not large badger steps. Reaching quickly for his Ion pistol laying beside him, flipping over onto his deadened arm he aimed at the surprised face of Joseph.
For a second he aimed at the doctor wondering where he had come from before letting the Ion pistol fall from his deadening paw and clatter onto the floor. Rolling of his side and onto his back Casta stared up at the roof remembering to take long deep breaths, the pain was coming back.

Free to roam sick bay he paced back and forth bored and wanting something to do he stopped in front of the injured rat captain.
"He going to live?" Casta asked, the nurses having done all they could had left the rat strapped to the bed with all kinds of tubes and bandages. The nurse shrugged.

Ion pulses are few and far between... but the ones I did find were heavily modified. Overall, it's a close sister ship to the first one that the Commmander investigated. Anything else, sir?"

I think we should go, if we meet them again, then we can get more information. But for now, I'm not sure what following them would accomplish. If not a fire fight. And we're in no shape for that."

OOC: Once we reach Nyslest, can we stop posting where we are in bold? It seem kind of irrelevant when everyone is on the same planet.

Joseph, who was in the laboratory, spoke to the captain on his comm. "Sir, some of the injured captain's blood is still on the operating table. It occurred to me that we could input his blood in the data banks, and see if there are any files that match with his DNA. It's possible that we have some data on that beast."

The Genesis Sickbay

"My thought's exactly," Angelica said walking into the laboratory. "I was just coming to see you about that very thing,"

OOC: The bold may seem useless but it actually really is helpful, things can get confusing very quickly, I think that it is a good idea to post it at the beginning of every post even if you think it is irrelevant. It also helps latter if someone needs to go back and check something, they don't have to read threw several pages of irrelevant text to find what they need. Also once we get to the planet it will be more important then ever to use the bold. You can elaborate on where you are on the planet. like in the alien cave or in the abandoned base. You may not like it but it makes everyone's job easier.

OOC: Allow me to elaborate. I more specifically meant that, once we get on the planet, we will all likely be traveling in the same general area. Therefore, it would be useless to post where we are when we're all in the same place. An exception to this could be when you are posting as the other captain, or as an alien. Not to mention the fact that always knowing where we are in the abandoned ship... kinda removes the mystery of some of it.

"On standby to recieve and analyze blood samples, Doctor Riggurt. All sensors that you need are at your disposal."

The Genesis Laboratory

"Alright, then," Joseph said on his comm. "I will analyze the blood samples and see the results."

Joseph inserted a small vial of the captain's blood into the DNA scanning machine. Within a few seconds, a soft beep emanated from it, signaling that the scan was complete. A profile appeared on the blue touchscreen.

"It says here that his name is Darek Eral," Joseph said to Hastigeth via the comm. "He graduated from Mossflower Fleet university near the top of his class, and was assigned as first officer to the M.R.S Radiant. He served onboard the ship for two months before being kicked out due to a dispute with the captain."

Nyroc Brushdale was in stellar cartography, looking at the route the Genesis had to make. Quickly becoming bored, he went to the mess hall. Approaching the food dispenser, he spoke a command.
"Pasta. Angel hair."
Afterward, he sat down at a table, looking over the crew statistics.
8 bridge officers...
26 engeneers....
15 crewmen....
18 security officers....
13 science officers...

Nothing notable.
26 long-range communications sent within the last 24 hours....
68 inter-ship communications...
96 total communications.

Hmm. He wondered. That math doesn't add up right.
He went about search the ship data log for the missing two communications.

Brushdale was sitting in his quarters, letting the day go by. He didn't have too many chance just to sit down and relax.
An indicator light hummed on and a slight beeping eminated from his desk.
He got up.
The bridge crew shift was changing again. Nothing to worry about.
He sat back down, think hard about the problem before him. Who sent those messages, and why? Is there a spy? If so, what purpose does he serve being undercover on the ship?
He decided to attack the problem logically.
If the messages were from a spy, that person would have to have regular acess to the communication array. So that eliminated all the normal crewman. The spy would also have to have security codes for both  long-range transmissions and short-range transmissions. That eliminated most but the senior staff and their assistants. The spy would also have to have some reason to do this. He started to inspect each of the possible suspects profiles.
It's not the captain, he wouldn't need to be a spy to take control or to send hidden transmissions.
Could it be that bratty diplomat? Maybe, he thought. She's a pacifist, or at least acts like one. Might she be trying to send messages about the ship so enemy's can quickly take it? He wished it was her. She could be a real pain sometimes.
Jenbean? Hmm, he's loyal to the uniform. Gets the job done. But he does work in intelligence and has the knowledge of how to hide a transmission.
Walker, the engineer? Probably not considering he would most likely get the engine blown up and have to deal with intelligence reports were he a spy.
Longeye? Possibly, he is the security officer and does have access to all that information. He would also be able to scan the ship and have acess to the communication array.
But with every possible suspect, Brushdale was left with a question: Why?
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: LT Sandpaw on February 20, 2015, 02:51:32 PM

Casta was woken up by the sound of his long distance com beeping. With a sigh he turned it on with remaining quiet letting the caller speak first.

"The icicles in caves do not melt in summer." A low voice stated from the device making Casta glare at the communicator.

"Because the icicles in caves are made of stone." Casta snapped back angrily checking the scanners outside his room to make sure none were listening he turned back to the device. "What do you need, I have given you the location and the name of everyone I thought our last talk would be just that, the last talk."

"Well, well someone had a temper I see, sure hope its no because your sore from thy recent injury." The voice said cajolingly.

"How did you know, did your returned officer happen to recover so fast he could tell you he almost killed your only link to this ship."

"Ranking link that is, hardly my only one, as for the captain no he did not tell me, he's dead, I have known everything that goes' on in that ship since you gave me access to every computer on board, including yours." Casta watched as the screen display changed from outside his room to the bridge, then to the sickbay then back to his room where he saw himself watching the screen.

"You made your point." Casta growled watching as it began to run though the ships files and logs. "So what do you need from me now?"

"More access, you haven't given me access to the Commander or Captain's computer and that is what I originally wanted, you failed me Longeye." The voice had lost its unseal superior tone and now sounded angry.

Casta bit his lip knowing what was coming. "I'll see what I can do, I'll do my best. please don't!"

"Don't fail me again." The device flicked off and Casta gave a sigh of relief, he had been feeling merciful today. Suddenly electric volts burst from his back sending spikes of pain running though his body, the device implanted in his back heated up leaving him writhing on the ground.

Jenbean opened up the public M.R. Nyseslest data and gave it a quick scan. Nothing special, just the normal stuff that he had already memorized. The officer clicked the "Specailized Clearence button and entered the authorization codes. This information he digested with vigour.

The planet Nyseslest was a rocky moon, with few, if any, fertile areas. It's also known as planet 2018. Coordinates are (26, 65), Tarraba sector. Artificial buildings are nonexistent, excluding the Arkship presence. Population: N/A

Jenbean shook his head. It was too... open. If the Arkship survivors had weapons, then any  landing ship, away team, or approaching enemy would be in plain line of fire. He would have to file a report with the QM for special equipment.

"What in the world?" said Brushdale as he leaned over his console. He was going over old internal sensor data in an effort to find the spy, when he saw the sensors had picked up a short but strong electric signal emanate from one of the upper decks. He tried to track the source.
He scanned the decks on by one, looking for residual electric signatures that only a charge this strong would leave. However, the would soon diminish.
Not the bridge...
Not deck 2...
Not deck 3...
Not deck...wait!

Deck 4 had what appeared to be a possible residual electric signature.
It's not much to go on. But it's worth looking into.
He checked to see who was on deck 4.
Jenbean is on the bridge.
That diplomat was in the guest quarters on Deck 4.
Longeye was in his quarters on the same deck.
The other potential suspects were all on the lower decks.

Having narrowed the field down to two suspects, he thought it was time to include the Captain in his investigation. He hailed him over the comm.
"Captain, this is Brushdale. May I have a word with you at your convenience?"

Brushdale hurried over, knowing that every second counts when dealing with espionage.
He stepped into the ready room.
"Sir, I have some disturbing news. I think there may be a spy on board." He related all the information he had gathered to the captain, waiting for a response and some instruction.

Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis

Hastigeth furrowed his brow and lowered his head onto his thumb and index finger, with his elbow propped up on the desk. "This is definitely worrying, keep up your investigation, you're relieved of bridge duty while you're investigating. It's not a punishment, we just need your efforts focused solely on identifying the spy. You shouldn't tell me who you think it is, I'm a terrible actor!" Said Hastigeth with a light chuckle, lightening the mood a little. "Anyway, focus all of your efforts on finding out who this is, and if that's all your dismissed!" Said Hastigeth, waiting for Brushdale to speak again.

"Aye, sir." Brushdale said simply. He took his pad and started to walk out the door, but instead said "Sir, I may need help. Any suggestions on wether or not we should include one of the senior staff, at least to assist in the investigation? If so, who?"

Brushdale opened the door.
"Come in Jenbean, I've got some news. This is absolutely confidential that only myself and the captian have any knowledge of. You are not to relate this information to anyone or to tell anyone what your orders are to anyone.
"Have a seat."
Brushdale conveyed everything that he had to the captian.
"I need you to help me track down this spy. Keep your eyes open for anything suspicious, and I'll get back to you with further orders."

Thte Intel officer nodded and then left the room.

Once in his own quarters, Jenbean immediately activated a restraining code on the comm network. He entered all the names of the crew members for security clearence, then commed Brushdale and asked for a list of suspect names.

While he waited for an answer, Jenbean began a sweep of all records of crew members: security personnel, engineering officers, ordinary soldiers, senior commanders, not one beast missed his notice. medical, criminal, school, all manner of records were searched for any signs of unusual activity.

OOC: How much should I find out?

"Alright. I'll monitor any messages they send or recieve."

OOC: THis is where Del has to decide whether or not I find out Casta has that implant.

OOC: It would have been secretly attached almost without Casta knowing not really in hospital records, It would have been placed on his back a little before the Arkships takeoff during a extensive surgery after an accident on the home planet without the doctors consent.

BIC: Casta walked into the mess deck and slumped into a table. Covered in cold sweat some of his muscles still twitching from the violent electric shocks. Gulping down a bottle of water he poured the last of the liquid over his head trying too stem the headache that still pounded in his skull.

Under his breath he cursed whoever was doing this to him, whoever and whatever he could think of.

Snatching a roll from off a plate he made his way to the bridge, seeing he was wasn't needed he left wondering aimlessly. Eventually making his way too the prison bay.

The guard on duty let him in with hardly a nod recognizing his superior officer. Casta made his way too the clear holding cell where a single weasel slumped awake and looking bored. The same creature Casta had stunned before during the raid.

Crouching by the small rectangle hole in the prison Casta tapped the barrier alerting the weasel of his presence.

The weasel tried to ignore Casta looking at the blank wall leaving his back towards the squirrel. Casta tried again to get his attention by tapping the thick glass softly.
"What's your name?" Casta asked.

"Not telling."

"Who do you work for?"

"I still ain't telling."

"Do you know who I am?"

"Not a clue tree-rat."
Casta rolled his eyes before standing moving away from the glass he muttered angrily to himself.
"Good, last thing I need is you knowing who I am and telling the whole ship." While walking past the guards post Casta stuck a small listening device under the desk and continued on, he had to plant a lot of them.

"The comm monitor I planted didn't pick up any transmissions from either of them. Maybe they know I'm investigating, or maybe they aren't doing anything. "Aye sir." Brushdale turned to the crew. "Jenbean, you two," he said as he motioned to two security officers. "A medical officer and…Savil. We may need some 'diplomatic skill' on the mission, depending on what we find."
Brushdale headed though the door. "Brushdale to Sick Bay, have a medical officer report to the transporter room for an away team."
They stepped into the transporter room to beam down, everyone in place. When they arrived on the planet, it had very little vegetation. The sun was just comi over the horizon, casting a brilliant Ray of light across the small hills and revines. It cast extremely long shadows, to where if need be, someone could hide among them. Brushdale looked around through his binoculars, looking for evidence of the ark ship. A revine, probably used to be a river bed, had some sort of debris in it. It was maybe a mile away.
"Alright, let's head this way." He said as they set off across the brightly let plains.

Casta followed Brushdale the Ion pistol strapped securely to his leg leaving slight rub marks as they marched. He continually scanned the horizon for any signs of hostility from anybeast or anything. His paws twitching nervously ready to jump at the slightest thing.
The wind began to pick up creating a slight headwind making it harder to march ahead, Casta stepped behind Brushdale allowing the large badger to take the brunt of the strong breeze following in his wake Casta justified the slightly easier trek thinking the badger wouldn't be able to get behind any other member of the team anyway.

Jenbean fingered his ion pistol. This was too easy. His eyes darted to and fro as he monitored the land ahead for problems.

Upon seeing the ravine, the fox pulled up a data pad and started mapping the area he had seen by voice command. "Begin entry... After transporting down, we stood on flat ground. Small hills and mound along with the occasional ravine, dot the landscape. We began headed to a dry riverbed, approximately a mile away."

The headwind sprung up and Jenbean chose to stick to the small boulders dotting the land. Better then sheidign behind a badger, he thought.

The breeze was effecting Brushdale, making him chilly. He continued to march in cautious silence though. He made sure to note both Castas position as well as Savil's. He also wanted the group to stay close together. If either of them tried anything, he was confident he and Jenbean could stick it out.
Only half a mile to go, then everthing breaks loose he thought.

Sensing the badger's intentions, Jenbean broke cover and ran to where Savil was walking. Slowing his pace to match her's, he chose to make idle conversation. "Looks like that riverbed is't to far off. Wouldn't want to be near it at all, how 'bout you?"
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis

Savil looked around at the desolate surroundings, For the sake of this mission she had taken up an Ion pistol and strapped it to a belt around her waist.  She did not intend to use it but protocol demanded that every member of an away team be armed. A head wind sprung up but she did not make any futile attempts to avoid it.

"Looks like that riverbed is't to far off. Wouldn't want to be near it at all, how 'bout you?"

Savil looked at him quizzically, "That river bed may contain some important clues as to what is going on here. I will not discount the fact that there may be some kind of conspiracy or alien invasion at work here but then again there may be a perfectly decent explanation,"

Casta was the first to reach the riverbed jogging ahead of the rest of the group. it was just that, a empty river with a few plants growing up out of it. As the others arrived Casta saluted Brushdale.
"All clear sir just checked it out, nothing there." He said quickly looking around the barren area. A sudden beeping sounded on his long range comm device. Casta knew who it was and he was trapped. Quickly he turned it off cursing his bad luck silently and hopping the others hadn't noticed.

As Brushdale and the others approached Casta's location, they heard a slight noise.
"Are you getting a transmission from the ship Longeye? If not, cut the receiver so you don't get feedback." Brushdale said, rather unassumingly. He didn't want to give the impression that he now suspected Longeye, but he still motioned slightly to Jenbean, trying to let him know what he know thought.
"Go ahead Jenbean, scout ahead. Stay on the channel, though."

Jenbean activated his comm and advanced.

The riverbed was mostly deserted, the odd boulder or pile of pepples showing. The fox observed the area, not seeing any activity. He chanced a glance over his shoulder. Longeye was still standing where he had stopped. Jenbean tuned his comm listener to Casta's frequency.

OOC: Should I listen to Casta's message? Or sya he jammed the signal?

BIC: Casta nodded to Brushdale before following Jenbeam down to the river bed glad they hadn't found the com call suspicious. Suddenly the com piece began beeping again as if desperate to be answered. Casta almost panicked turning the thing off throwing it away and down into the riverbed where it disappeared among the rocks.
Seeing the others staring at him Casta quickly came up with and excuse.
"Blasted thing wouldn't stop beeping, must have been broken." Casta said nervously small beads of sweet dripping down his face nervously licking his lips. It sounded lame and he knew there was about to be some awkward questions.

Jenbean paused his search. Casta's comm had beeped again! He slowly turned around and headed to the right, using his tracker to loocate the abandoned comm Longeye had thrown. He found it quickly and inspected it. Nothing was broken! He walked up to Casta, holding out the comm  piece. "Excuse me, but I believe you threw away a perfectly functioning comm piece."

Casta accepted the com glaring furiously at Jenbeam. He was a bout to place the com piece back when it began beeping again, clearly whoever was trying to contact him was not going to give up.
"Its not from the ship, its from the planet someone must have discovered my frequency." Casta said at last. "Should I answer it sir?" He asked Brushdale.

Casta bit his lip hard pressing the button on the communicator. There was a moment silence then the voice spoke up.

"I know your on the planet, leave them and get on the other side of the riverbed, you will be picked up there." The voice ordered then the communicator beeped shutting off.

Casta glanced at his companions his paw twitched slightly.
"I'm sorry." He murmured. Pulling the Ion pistol from its holder in a flash of an eye he fired the bolts towards Jenbeam's and Brushdale's footpaws. The weapon was on high power and he didn't want to kill them.

Not waiting to see if he had hit them he threw himself sideways. He rolled into the dried riverbed coming to a halt at the bottom. Picking himself up he made a dash toward the other side taking a zig-zag pattern to avoid any shots.

"Brushdale to Genesis! Longey is the traitor, shots fired, Not sure how many injured, I'm in pursuit."

OOC: Alright,

BIC: Casta put on an extra burst of speed dodging and ducking the whole time. Looking back he noticed Jenbeam running behind him coming fast. Without a moment of hesitation Casta pulled a scrambler from his belt hurling at Jenbeam. The grenade burst close to the hare sending off powerful shockwaves knocking the hare off his feet.

Gaining the far side of the riverbed Casta glanced around franticly looking for his pick up. Suddenly the ground under his footpaws rumbled and shook knocking him off his feet. A small ship pulled itself from the ground hovering near a shocked Casta.

He could only guess how it had got there but when a door opened he didn't hesitate. Leaping forward as only a squirrel could he jumped into the open doorway. It snapped shut and the ship turned speeding off across the wastes and disappearing into the horizon.

Casta looked up, besides himself a rat pilot the only other occupant was a weasel were in the slightly cramped interior.

"Who are you, why did you pull me out of my cover." Casta growled angrily pointing his Ion pistol at the weasel. It smiled disarmingly picking up what looked like a small command pad.

"My name matters naught and why I took you from your cover also matters naught. However you may have equipment and implants that they could track you with so I need you to go to sleep."

Casta looked at the weasel confused and unsure of what he should do. Then with a flick of his claw the weasel pressed a button on the command pad.

Casta fell screaming to the floor the Ion pistol lay forgotten as he writhed. The pain was so intense it soon knocked the screaming squirrel unconscious.

Removing all of Casta's equipment the weasel abandoned it out of the speeding ship. Letting it shatter on the rocks and dirt leaving a false trail on the planet surface.

OOC: SO sorry... XP

BIC: When Casta had run Angelica had given chase. Scrambling down the bank of the dried river bed after him with Jenbean. The Grenade had missed her only managing to slow her down a bit. She now stood on the far bank watching as the strange ship disappeared. She had been able to get a good look at it but it was so fast she could not be sure of what she saw. It was all slipping away now as she struggled to remember all the details.

*Savil to Brushdale* She said tapping her com *I got a good look at that ship he was taken off in... Now I am no expert but it looked like some kind of advanced land cruiser*

Brushdale tried to fire a shot at a nearby rock, but nothing happened. "Meets pins aren't working either." He thought for a moment. "We're sitting ducks if they want to come down on us."
*Brusdale to Genesis, immediate beam up of the away team!*

Hastigeth got up from his chair and beamed down just outside of the jammed area with a few extra guns and supplies.

"We should take shelter. We are sitting ducks out in the open," Angelica said as soon as she heard that they would not be beaming up. her composure was unchanged and she looked as if she had just walked out of her office not trekked a cross a strange planet chasing after a spy.

Jenbean was for other ideas. "Are you sure? If they were here just topick up Longeye, then they won't dilly-dally around to make sure we're dead. Think from their perspective: if we can't folow them, they aren't in trouble."

"Don't you think I thought that threw already," Savil said reproachfully"We can't do much good out here anyway without our equipment. We can't beam up to the ship so even if they are not coming back we should find a place where we can regroup and find a way to get our things working again. We don't know how large this dampening filed is nor do we know what is causing it. We should set a base that is somewhat sheltered just in case we are stuck here on the long term, and then brake up into teems to see if we cant find the border of or the cause of this field," She said

"Captain!" Savil said surprised to see him. It was not slandered procedure for the captain to beam down to the away teem himself. Especially in a dangerous situation like this. "You should be on the ship," She said taking the supplies. "I hope you are having a shuttle craft sent down." She added.

"Of course it's not standard procedure." Said Hastigeth, grinning at Savill. "But it's been many years since I've actually been down on a planet besides our own! Anyway, I told you about the Exploration party! They'll be bringing several shuttle-crafts, but I am not going back this time." Then he looked up at the sky to try and catch a glimpse of a descending shuttle.

"You should not have both the captain and the first officer on any away mission at the same time," Savill said giving Hasigeth a look which clearly meant that she disapproved, and that this indecent was most likely going to end up in her report.

Savill's look only caused Hastigeth to grin more broadly. He nodded knowingly, but shrugged it off. "If this mission fails we will not have need for anymore captains or first officers."

Brushdale slowed as the group approached the crash site. The Arkship seemed desolate, except for the hum of one of the of the engines. He didn't see a way to get inside the massive ship.
"Sir," he said turning to the lynx captain, "Should we cut a hole through? I'm sure we could blast one open enough for us to crawl inside."
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Delthion on July 15, 2015, 02:02:29 PM
"I don't think we should blast through, even with the high Ion levels, if some are desperate enough, they would come back here. Just cut through and we will see if there are any survivors." Said Hastigeth, having the Genesis beam down some powerful cutting equipment.
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Hickory on July 15, 2015, 10:16:41 PM
"Um, the ions shouldn't hurt you. My datapad isn't scanning any other high levels, it's all normal." Jenbean surveyed the wreck. "And you might want to cut in over there. Ship schematics say that cutting through the weak spot, which is also, strangely, double doored, should allow easy access to the bridge. It probably is the bridge." Jenbean walked over to the spot and wiped away debris. Frowning, he closely inspected the insignia and writing on the area. "Actually, this says Main Airlock. In Emergency, pull lever.." The fox gave an experimental tug on a faded red painted lever. "Locked pretty tight. While that cutting equipment gets down here, I'll run a dianostic on the ship." Walking a few feet to the left, he pulled open a hatch that revealed a console and plug-in terminal. "Normally I'd have a 'bot to help me sort through the minor stuff, but this ship was designed before some major technical developments.... darn. Needs biometric clearence. Captain, if you would..." the fox guestured for Hastigeth to place his paw on the biometric scanner.

"Here, allow me," Savill said brushing forwards and placing her paw on the pad, "I should still have clearance, My uncle, Edward Savill, was head engineer of the Arkship project and my Aunt, Armina Savill, was head of the entire project itself. It was her invention of deep space stasis which made the trip possible, but you all probably know that already." Armina and Edwards both went off in the Arkship together, a portion of the crew had to stay awake to run the ship and they had volunteered. They had wanted to see their work through to the end.

OOC: Time-skip, we're back at the ship.

BIC: Hastigeth was leaning over a console, which contained the logs of the various crewmembers. He called a meeting with all of the senior officers. "The Arkship apparently crashed several months ago, while they had supplies to survive for a while, they were all designed without the thought of the preservation systems failing. By the time they knew what happened, most of the supplies were useless. One beast by the name of Kilvarr, a muscular rat, had started speaking of rebellion. Several of he more desperate creatures immediately sided with him. They left with half of the supplies and terraforming devices. All was peaceful for quite a while. But some weeks ago the Insurrectionists came back with weapons of amazing power, they demonstrated on the Arkship which the colonists had mainly repaired. The Insurrectionists fired at the hull of the Arkship with a relatively low-powered blast, the shock went straight to the engine core and fractured the core. The Colonists were forced to give the Insurrectionists the rest of their supplies, they were allowed to keep they're meager supplies which they had grown, the terraforming devices that the Insurrectionists left were faulty due to the crash, this date corresponds to the date which we received the last distress call, and the plans were immediately developed for the Genesis. That was the last log, and now no one seems to be left from the Colonists, they could be hiding though. Or the prolonged Ion radiation exposure killed them. But what is not understandable, is that the Insurrectionists were the ones that attacked us in the ship, but how are they advancing so quickly? Even with the terraforming devices, it would take many years of building the equipment to build such things, that does not even take into account the time that it would take to think of such a thing, let alone building a working prototype. Does anyone have any new news to report?" After he had finished he sat back down.

OOC: Before posting look in the OOC topic.

Jenbean was uploading the small amount of data he'd gotten from the Arkship into the Genesis' information dump. "Um, well, the energy weapon the Insurrectionists - why are they called that? - used against the Arkship was actually a high-focus particle weapon. Even the most advanced Mossflower republic tech we couldn't build anything close to that; it was probably reverse engineered from something they found on the surface. Or maybe somebeast or something native to this planet gave it to them...."

He shrugged. "Hard to tell. Oh, and if we do run into that weapon, take cover behind something really thick and really solid. My calculations say that it can bring the Genesis' shields down to half in one shot."

OOC: Tell me if anything is wrong with that.

OOC: Ok. The M.R.S. Genesis left Mossflower to find the Arkship, which carried a bunch of beasts. Space travel, etc, the ship was pulled out by another one and was attacked. An away lead by Nyroc Brushdale (the commanding officer, Soren's charrie) invaded the enemy ship and captured some of their own. Intel fiver Jenbean (my dude) and Captain Carrantha (The commander of EVERYTHING, Del's character) managed to uncloak a second ship, which took the prisoners the away team of ours had earlier captured. (Now the important stuff begins) Stuff happened. The Security Officer, Casta Longeye (Sandpaw's character) was revealed to be a spy. Brushdale, Carrantha, and Jenbean investigated him but didn't find anything out. They reached the planet where the Arkship crashed and teleported down. That team consisted of: Faiy's character, Savill the diplomat, Jenbean, Brushdale, and later on Carrantha. They explored, then Longeye's cover was blown. A chase happened, Longeye was taken by his employers and escaped. Carrantha came down and they all found the Arkship. Jenbean and Savill found a way in, explored a small amount, then teleported back to the Genesis. Read Del's last wall of text in this thread and you should catch up to what happened to the Arkship, and I posted the next part of the plot in the OOC thread.

You asked for a recap. ;D
