Ya! I got one!

A recorder am I
My friend that has died
I was here with the pearls and the wall
The abbes my friend
A vole with medicine
Now I have ink on my paws!
I want the world of Tolkien,
The message of Lewis;
The adventure of Jacques,
And the heart of Milne.
But I want the originality of me.

Vilu Daskar

Never trust a smiling pirate.  :D

I can do that because I'm awesome.

"It really gets up my nose when publishers call my book another Lord of the Rings. It's my bloody book! I wrote it. And another thing, I didn't have to plunder Norse and European mythology to do it!" - Brian Jacques.

I stole from Redwall Abbey,
and they never made me pay.
For unlike every other threat,
my plan was to always run away.

I won with a simple, careful deed,
and still I wish I didn't start.
Although I could and did take by force,
I could never force his heart.

-George Washington

Courage: Not only the willingness to die manfully, but also the determination to live decently.

No, but good idea.

And I should clarify--the character referred to by the pronoun "his" is not the main character of the poem. It's the narrator I'm looking for.

The first verse makes me think Slagar/Chickenhound
"In the meantime, no one should roam the camp alone. Use the buddy system."
"Understood." Will looked at Nico. "Will you be my buddy?"
"You're a dork," Nico announced.
~ The Hidden Oracle, Rick Riordan

Doctor Who is epic, so is Sherlock. And many other fandoms, but there's not enough room to list them all in my signature!
"I am and always will be the optimist, the hoper of far-flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams." -Matt Smith

Sailears

My ears, how are you, wot!

Captain Slipp (Bellmaker)?

Ooh. Looking at what I wrote, I'd have a really hard time actually successfully arguing that Captain Slipp doesn't fit. He wasn't who I was thinking of, but until I want to really start splitting hairs, he seems to me to be a second correct answer. Sortof takes the wind out of the sails of the whole... "unlike every other threat" line. Drat.

Anyhow, I'm not thinking of Slagar, either.
