Title: Round 1 HeadInAnotherGalaxy (Mokkan) vs. Rainshadow (Shadow)
Post by: BrookSkimmer on September 25, 2012, 08:18:21 PM
Rules:
You have one week from today to put up at least three posts for judging.
If you make more than three posts you must signify which posts you want judged.
All posts must be at least three sentences long.

Do not:
auto-hit (posting hits on anyone's character. Post your attacks and the other person will respond with whether the attack connected or not. Receiving a hit does not mean you will loose the match.)
God-mode (make your character so strong that nothing can hurt them)
Mary-sue (make your character perfect in every way)

First come, first served for posting. Your first post may or may not include an opening attack.

Have fun!!!

The quarry at twilight, an eerie place. The wind gusted through the soft stone and caused flurries of dust to rise. The area had been lit by torches in sconces, the light flickering and dancing as the wind played with it. A wide part of the quarry was roped off as boundaries for dueling contestants. The roped area included a pile of large boulders, an open sandy area, and sheer rock walls. High on the edge of the quarry rested a small booth in which the tournament judges watched.

A voice echoed down to the contestants. "Round one! Mokkan versus Shadow! Begin!"

Mokkan had already drawn his axe, but he kept it hidden beneath his cloak. He was the best of the Marlfox brood. The oldest. The slyest. And was the only Marlfox who hadn't been bested in combat. He awaited his opponent's move.

Shadow was hidden behind a rock, searching for the Marlfox.  Where was he?  She had her bow in paw with an arrow already nocked to the string.  She searched the quarry for her opponent.
Unfortunately, Shadow made the mistake of stepping out of her hiding place.  She knew immediately that she was going to be spotted.  Quickly she jumped behind the rock, but she knew that she was already too late.  The fox must have seen her!

Mokkan had indeed seen her. However, he gave all the appearance as if he hadn't. Surprise was the key to advantage, his dear old mother had taught her children.

Nobeast living can hide from thee,
O thou who treads invisibly,
Cross hill and vale, through woods and rock.
                                                               Marlfox!
                                                                   Marlfox!
                                                                       Marlfox!

He turned his back to his opponent and prentended to investigate a rock in front of him. In reality, he held his axeblade ready. Now it was his opponent's turn to make her move.

Shadow could see the Marlfox clearly now as he meandered his way over to her hiding spot.  Surely he had seen her, but he acted as though he hadn't.  Shadow readied herself for when she would shoot him.  She prayed that she wouldn't miss.
Taking a deep breath, Shadow jumped out of her hiding spot, pulled back the string of her bow, took aim and fired.

Mokkan swiftly turned around and raised his axe just in time for the arrow to ricochet off into the ground. In the same movement he jumped forward towards his opponent, finishing the move with a downward strike at his opponent meant to slice her in two.

Shadow sidestepped her opponent's blow, thankful that she was quick.  She put away her bow and unsheathed her dagger in one swift movement.  Jumping forward, the ferocious wildcat stabbed at the Marlfox, aiming for his throat.

Mokkan grabbed her paw and forced the dagger into the ground. Taking his axe he swung at her with a heavy slash.

Shadow quickly wriggled her paw free of the fox's grasp and, grabbing her dagger, jumped away from his deadly weapon.  "Ha!  You missed me!"
Shadow sheathed her dagger and pulled out her bow, taking arrow after arrow and shooting at the nearly impossible to hit enemy.  "Dodge these, vermin!"

By sheer luck Mokkan's heavy attack made him swerve slightly, missing all but one arrow, which became stuck in his shoulder. Quickly advancing, he attacked his opponent with three sharp attacks, with the intent of destroying the bow.

Shadow, out of instinct, threw her bow out of the way.  She knew that it would now be useless to her, seeing as it was hanging on a rock protruding from the wall, but she didn't want it broken.  She unsheathed her dagger once again to fight close ranged.
"Come at me, vermin!"  Shadow once again dove at her opponent, swiping this way and that with her dagger.

Mokkan met her blow for blow, their weopons dancing back and forth like dragonflies among the reeds. He ignored the bait of answering her words and answered instead with his blade. Meeting with the same result he tried a new tactic. He quickly jumped back, and dropped his blade. Crouching on the ground, he threw it in the direction of his attacker. Picking up his blade, he made a second attack, slashing downwards in an effort to cut her in half.

Shadow wasn't prepared for the first attack; the blade made it's home in her upper right arm.  By this time though she was prepared for the second blow and dodged out of the way.  However, the Marlfox's blade struck the knife that was already in her arm, sending it flying.  Shadow was now on her knees, screaming in pain from the wound in her arm.
Shadow tried to stand up, but the pain in her arm kept her down.  She looked up at her opponent and cried out, "Mercy, mercy please!"

"Ah, but you forget,' Mokkan stated. If a Marlfox is slain, there must be vengeance." He raised his axe. "I am the last of my kind, so there must be equal blood spilt. And with that said he brought his axe down for the finishing blow.

Shadow could tell she was going to die today.  She couldn't do anything to save herself, unless...  With the last ounce of her strength, Shadow clutched her dagger in her left paw and drove it upwards, intending to stab Mokkan in the stomach.  She then painfully rolled out of the way, not knowing if she had hit the Marlfox.

Just near the end of the attack he saw his opponent reaching for her dagger. The blade had just nicked his stomach before he quickly diverted his attack to knocking away the opponent's blade. The pain of the wound made him slightly stagger, but he quickly recompensated it with another attempt at his opponent's life. This time he would not miss.

Which means, seeing a your bow was deemed "useless", that it isn't available for use

OOC:  Yes, I meant that it was useless to her because it was not able to be grabbed in a second.  It was still able to be gotten, it just wasn't as easy.  She still had access to it, but she had to run to the rock wall.

Yes, but she wouldn't be able to dodge an attack, stand up, run towards a bow that had been thrown away, get it, select an arrow, set it, prepare to fire, and then fire, all while being injured greatly. She would have been cut down long before she even touched an arrow. I'm sorry, but it's completely imbossible.

OOC:  Alright, alright.  You win, I removed the post.

BIC:  Shadow laid there in pain as she watched her opponent preparing to snuff out her life.  "Please," she croaked, "don't kill me."  She groaned and closed her eyes, waiting for the blade of her enemy's weapon to put her out of her misery.  A single tear fell from her eye and she braced herself.

Mokkan raised his axe. "Blood for blood. None of my kin were given mercy. And neither will you." He thought about the various deaths of his kin. There would be no mercy. He brought his axe down in for the final blow.

Just because you don't want your character to die doesn't give any player the right to do so by any means neccessary. If This was an RP where it was Cregga v.s Ascrod (Like what happened in the book), just because Ascrod's RP'r didn't want him to die gives him the right take the arrow wound and still be able to do vast feats of strength. We can't just make several decisions, and then refuse where those decisions takes us.

  OOC:  Alright, alright!

BIC:  Shadow was waiting for the axe to come down and end her, then she realized that she still had weapons to use.  She could still move her left arm, so Shadow reached up into her quiver as fast as she could - which wasn't very fast, but still fast enough that you would have to have quick reflexes to stop her - and pulled out a sharp-tipped arrow.  She held onto the shaft of the arrow and brought it up, tip first, aiming to stop her enemy.
