I don't draw, I write. :D I can write pictures with words, but don't expect me to try and illustrate those things...I'm not that good, and I probably would draw more if I didn't like reading so much. Too bad books come first in my life.
Anyway, this is the first drawing I've attempted in.....oh, twelve years. Just felt like trying. Had to eyeball a picture of an otter for reference. If I can find my old artwork (from 2001), maybe I'll post some of it. First I have to find what I did with it. :P All pencil...I've never liked markers or paint, or even digital programs.
Anyway, my rendition of Tagg from Taggerung.

Mod edit: new stuff at the end... ;)
Woo, another artist posting! :D He looks great, Lutra! Especially considering you haven't been into the art scene in over a decade. You should definitely post more!
(I, too, have that problem of books > everything, haha~)
That is so cool! Keep up the good work!
He really looks great!
Thats preety awesome for your first drawing in 12 years! 8)
practice more and more and you will be able to draw otters without a referance :)
Nice job!
Wow! That's really cool!
Don't worry about the refference thing, I have to look up pictures a lot to know how they actually look like.
I'd really like to see what they'd look like now! :)
I thank you for the kind comments this morning. We'll see if I continue to sketch stuff. It'll only be otters and squirrels since those are the characters I happen to have really enjoyed from the books. Even 12 years ago I couldn't draw a mouse to save my life, so sorry to all the Martin fans. :D No mouse art from me.
No prob. :)
What I'd really like to see, and is a bit similar to squirrels, is foxes. I love foxes! They're my favorite baddies. So if you ever want to try something else, you could maybe try a fox. :)
Or badgers 8)
Those are really neat Lutra!
Really...unique, Lutra! JK, I really like them! :D
To answer some requests: badgers and foxes I have attempted in the past, but never was happy with the results. More practice is necessary if I want to ever tackle another canine creature. Never say never, but we'll see what I can do.
I drew something else because I have the time for it. Meet Felldoh on his way to fight Badrang (and the goal was not to draw Marshank :P ). The enhancement I did on the picture to make it darker actually made it look worse.

I love the facal expressions :) just a tip, when i draw my REALLY good drawings,i listin to music and plan the scene and charicter poses in my head,30 minutes later ill have a great idea of what it will look like ;)
(badgers arnt canines, theyre mustlids like otters, give them a go!)
Wow! Great! You're indeed good at squirrels!
Those are good! Especially since you haven't drawn in a while! You are good at squirrels!
Cool!
Ok as I've said, I'm going to upload some stuff I did a long time ago. Yes I was able to find my stuff that I did back in 2000. They aren't Redwall, but these three could illustrate a Redwall scene with the right caption and scene to go with them. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the rest of the art....it clearly wasn't for Redwall so....where to post? Hmmmmm....
Is this the solitary beaver from the first Redwall novel trying to be of help, then realizing he can't move the tree? :P
(http://s6.postimg.org/lbs81nvkh/housesparrow_tired_2000_web.jpg)
I technically drew this house sparrow for a different story, but maybe you can think of it as a kind Sparra---one that is really tired and didn't gain the mean traits from the sparra kingdom.

Squirrel! :D Find a scene with a red squirrel in it, and it fits.
Awesome! I really like the sparrow!
Those are great!
Hey, that sparrow is awesome! And I love the beaver's face. ;D
Awesome
I do thank you for all your comments. I will try and figure out where I want to post the other pictures.
I like these pics! Lots of character to them - especially like Felldoh and the beaver. :D You should draw some more!
They're coming out sharp! Keep it up ;)

I don't forsee the time to make it happen but I will post more if I can.
These are awesome! You are a great artist Lutra!!!! I love the little squirrel!
I can relate with making time for drawing issue... but if you can keep going! :)
Those are great! Just a random thing I noticed. You have very good handwriting, which is characteristic of good artists. ;)

I'll never be good then. My handwriting sucks.

Ditto! ::) Though, one thing I heard that I'm gonna be counting as fact is that intelligent people have really bad handwriting because they try to write down all of their ideas too fast. I'm going with that idea. ;)

My print hand is quite neat, but I can't say the same for cursive or illegible handwriting.
Perhaps I shouldn't have said characteristic of good artist, more like, if you have neat handwriting, you can be a good artist. But artists with handwriting like Lutra's (and my mom's) seem to be more comfortable with clear, defined lines and sometimes have a more cartoonish than realistic style.
I suck at writing no one can read it except me so that quite useful :D
I just looked at your pictures Lutra, and they were great!!!
My handwriting is a bit different than it was 12 years ago too. Its actually a bit sloppier these days.
New (old) art.
A gray fox as part of a story, but looks too nice/friendly to fit in Redwall.
Argument between a gray squirrel and a ringtail cat. Another part of a story I had written long ago.
Wasn't great a chipmunks either! No chipmunks in Redwall either.
Those look great, Lutra! :D
I love the softer looking style you've gone with. My favorite is the arguing squirrel and ringtail cat!
Oh, I love the chipmunk! But I think I like the squirrel and cat one more! These are aweseome, Lutra! You should try drawing again. :)
Those are awesome, I really like the squirrel!
If time allows, I may draw again. I think I said that the last time I put up a bunch of stuff, and you see I'm not good at keeping my word. ;)
It's great to see your old drawings, Lutra. I like 'em. :D
