GROUP 2 - Mossflower

"Gah!"
Groddil sat up, looking around nervously. Trees. So many trees. He looked down at himself, eyes wide with shock. I didn't think I was this hairy, he thought nervously. Wait, is that a tail?
"What the..."
He stood up and jogged towards a nearby puddle. He stared at his reflection in the puddle. A fox. He was a fox. He felt a small, rather annoying become lodged in the back of his mind, telling him that this wasn't right, but he dismissed the idea. He focused on his memories, very hazy. All he remembered was waking up. And a name. Groddil. Was that his name? Had to be. Shrugging, Groddil figured he needed to find food and shelter. But why did he think that? Something really wasn't right, but he couldn't place his finger, or claw, on it just yet. He was gathering sticks for a fire when he noticed a skeleton of a hare crumpled in the roots of a large tree. A rough belt was wrapped around the skeleton's waist, in which a dagger had been thrust. Lying next to it was a longbow and a quiver of arrows. Ignoring how convenient it was, or how the poor creature had got there in the first place, he took the weaponry and vanished into the brush.

GROUP 3 - SALAMANDASTRON

The sun hung high in the sky, it's unforgiving gaze beating down mercilessly on the broad shore and the back of the lonely shrewmaid standing in the surf. The light caught on the waves, nearly blinding the poor beast as she stared out onto the sea. The beautiful view was marred only by the tears that blurred her vision. The smell of fish hung heavy in the air, reminding her all too much of home.

Bat, for that was her name(or, at least, the only one she could remember), rubbed a paw over her eyes and took in a deep breath, trying to compose herself. She didn't like crying. She preferred keeping her emotions bottled up until they burst forth all at once over the littlest of things. That was the healthy way to deal with them. But she had no idea what was going on here, having just woken up after a salty wave crashed over her new muzzle, and sure, she daydreamed all the time about suddenly waking up in another world, more magical than her old one, but now that such a thing had happened, well, she had no idea what to do.

Her feet, or paws they were now, were getting cold, but she didn't want to step out of the waves just yet. She knew that the sand would stick to her wet paws and itch something fierce, and that sand that had been baking under a mid-afternoon sun would be scorching, and her shoes had not made the trip with her. Pity. They were nice shoes. Waterproof. She would even settle for her sandals, which, while not waterproof, were high-quality and would protect the bottoms of her feet. Bat looked up, staring again at the mountain not all that far away, maybe an hour's walk for a slow creature like herself. Standing on the shoreline all by itself, it was an imposing sight, and again, the name rose unbidden to her mind. Salamandastron. It was a good place, she somehow knew, an important one. It was also the only visible landmark for as far as she could see, the only break from the rolling sand dunes. So where else could she go? Bat habitually ran her paw through her spiky headfur, and began walking. Maybe Salamandastron would help her.

GROUP 3 - SALAMANDASTRON

Skarzs shifted uncomfortably in his sleep, trying to find a better position so he could relax. The bed beneath him moved with him, and he blinked in confusion. It was so bright out, and the air smelled of saltwater. Where the heck. . . ?
He sat up with a start, breathing heavily and tensed up. Trying to make sense of his surroundings, Skarzs just stared out over the landscape in disbelief. He was sat upon a sandy dune with nothing but coarse grass on its surface, and around him were countless other rolling dunes much like his own. Way off in the distance was a dark spot that rose against the skyline. Rubbing his eyes in an attempt to rid them of sleep, Skarzs pulled them away in sudden horror.
"What?" he breathed through his tight throat. These . . . Were his hands?
He looked upon a pair of grayish-blonde fur-covered. . . paws. They were thick and scarred like he felt they should be, and they had retractable thumbs, but they were not what they should have been. Neither was his head, as he put his paws to it, which had two furred ears and a blunt muzzle. These did not bother Skarzs much, as he was too busy gripping his head and trying to figure the scenario out.
"What is this?" he hissed. "What? How am I here? What is going on?"
He slammed his right paw into the sand, feeling the pain it caused. This was no dream. As he tried to stand up, his unfamiliar feet gave out beneath him, and the long tail that stretched behind him twitched about as if it had a life of its own. Pounding the ground with his fists in frustration, Skarzs growled, revealing sharp teeth, as he tried to stand up again. After a moment, he discovered his legs to not be as strange as he had first thought. They were . . . somehow different, though how, he had no idea, but his tail seemed to help with balancing.
Though he was still breathing heavily and his thoughts were a jumble of confusion and anger, Skarzs decided just to start moving. So he began to walk, then to walk faster, and then to run. The land flashed around him unnoticed, only the next steps in front of him getting any attention from the sprinting cougar. It did nothing to clear his mind, but he didn't care. He didn't care if he was getting tired, or that he was thirsty. The constant thought that matched the beat of his steps was the only thing he knew.
What is this? What is this? What is this?
Finally, Skarzs's dragging feet caught a lump of dune grass, and he went sprawling head over tail down the side of the dune, where he lay with chest heaving and eyes closed.
"Must. . . move. Move, c'mon, move!" Spittle foamed through his teeth as Skarzs turned himself over and stayed in a bowed position for a long while. . . He knew it was time to stop and think. Running himself ragged was foolish. With a sigh of irritation at his own lack of memory and knowledge, Skarzs sat down and waited for himself to calm down.

GROUP 3 - SALAMANDASTRON

Faiy felt hot, to hot. The sudden change of temperature and light was enough to snap her out of slumber. She sat bolt upright with a shriek and looked around wildly in confusion, a dazed expression on her face. She squinted in the bright light and rubbed her bleary eyes before she remembered something and began to look about in the sand next to her. To her relief she soon found a pair of crystal glasses, and after brushing them off she placed them on her face and looked around again. She found herself lying in the sand among tufts of dune grass in the low dip between three tall dune, beyond which she could see very little except for the vibrant blue sky and the punishing sun which, even after this short time, seemed to sear into her scalp.

She stood up and tried to shake the sand from her clothes the whole time complaining out loud to the surrounding about the nuisance of getting sand in her clothes and how it should be more considerate in the future. She suddenly froze mid sentence and became deathly quiet. Her ears had picked up the sound of approaching footsteps and they where getting closer fast. Her cheeks burned and she prayed that who ever it was had not just heard her talking to nothing.

She scrambled to the top of a dune on all fours, sand falling out from beneath her as she clawed her way up. She peered over the summit in time to see a very large creature trip and tumble down to the foot of an adjacent dune. He lay there panting mouth foaming. Faiy lay flat on her stomach and watched, afraid that if she made to much noise he would notice her, but he seemed to self absorbed, to warn out to notice. He looked viscous, almost barbaric, but the longer she watched she almost grew to pity him and something in the back of her mind was telling her she could trust him.

((OOC: I am not that well concealed if you decided to look about you would probably notice me, the landscape does not lend itself well to hiding XD XP))

GROUP 3 - SALAMANDASTRON

The majestic mountain, home of the legendary Badger Rulers and their gallant hares of the Long Patrol, stood as a backdrop against the tranquil blue sky above, which was decorated with swirls of white clouds. Seawaves chanted with all their gaiety to their usual churning rhythm, tossing some seaweeds to the white sandy shore. The late-morning sun radiated everything it touched on its warming rays. All was tranquil, until some noise broke its peaceful atmosphere. . .

"Oh my barnacles! What's happened to me?! Am I not the jolly ol' meself now, wot?"

Among the white sand dunes sat a young haremaid, who was staring at her paws, who had been formerly human hands in another world. Her ears, which was small and half-moon shaped, had obviously grown longer and now had reached a few inches above her head. Her shaggy fur was the same golden-brown as her formerly furless skin. She went on to gaze at herself in a little puddle nearby which provided reflection. Her face was not what she always was, which made her feel inferior.

"A hare? Me? Oh my!" Her voice rattled with shock, then mingled with disappointment. "How can I go home like this?"

The disgruntled haremaid scrambled around for her usual stuff, but in vain. Perhaps somebeast was stealing them while she was asleep? Her further shock multiplied when she realized she was walking strange, owing to the new set of footpaws she had given. And she stared at her clothes, which made her realized somebeast had changed her usual nightwear (which consisted a t-shirt and a pair of pyjamas) to a peasant dress fit for a maiden like her.

Her paw strayed to the right pocket of her dirty-white apron which contained a little piece of folded parchment. It was written in a neat script: TO OUR DEAR MISS DOTTI. It dawned on the haremaid whether the parchment was addressed to her or not, as it came to her only recently on the other world when she got a new book of chronicles.

Her mouth slowly formed the word she had read. "Dotti. My name is Dotti." She paused to ponder. But could it be the clue to my identity? Then she tossed some sand out into open air and declared, "Send me a sign! A sign which leads me home where I belong!"

Bat's mouth had long since grown dry and parched, and though the sea next to her looked so refreshing, and made her thirstier than ever, she did not drink from it. She, despite all evidence to the contrary, was not completely idiotic, and knew better than to drink from the ocean. She was walking in the firm sand below the tideline, trying to keep her tired steps straight as she could. They weaved this way and that, but she plodded on, her dragged tail creating a small furrow in the sand, and her head bowed, but she plodded on.

At least until she heard the shout. Bat's head whirled towards the sand dunes, and she waited to hear some other noise to confirm her suspicions.

"Send me a sign! A sign shich leads me home where I belong!"

The declaration caused Bat to force an exclamation from her dry lips and start running as fast as she could inland, sand flying out from under her paws, but so intent on reaching the source of the voice. "Wait!" Her voice was hoarse, and she tried again, "wait! I'm here!" This time her words came out clearly, and she began running up the side of the sand dune, but slipped on the loose, dry sand and went tumbling down with a shriek, tail over ears.

OOC: PLEASE READ: We start out knowing nothing, except wisps and memories here and there that remind us that, hey, we don't belong here. But as the RP moves on, we remember more and more about our old lives. We start to recall how we lived and the things we liked. As we're about to go home, we gather all this knowledge, and know who we are before we leave. Also, we all have a bit of a nudge with the other forum members. Like, "Huh, seem familiar, but I don't know why".

Also, Group 3 (Salamandstron) is closed for now because we already have four people. If you really want to be in that group, I suggest asking me so you can claim a spot in it, because the average number per group is about five.

Something wasn't right. With a start, the young adult woke up in a forest she had never seen before.

For a few moments, she stood with her bare feet rooted in the dirt, blinking at the trees spread out around her. Birdsong reached her ears - the only thing that seemed familiar. Everything else was strange, new. As if realizing she was a badger for the first time, she stared down at her body.

"Woah, no, no, no," she murmured, scratching at her furry paws, "What is this? What is this nonsense?" Feeling panic settle in, the badger twirled around in circles, catching glimpses of a large, bushy, black-and-white tail.

"This can't be happening!" she said, then bit her lip. Who knew what danger was in these woods? Realizing that she had some weapons on her belt, the badger carefully unsheathed a rapier. She had always wanted to use one, but not like this.

A sob rose up her throat, and she didn't care who in this strange new world could hear. No, the badger told herself. Calm down. Let's see what's going on.

The badger leaned against a tree and looked over her arms, legs, and tail. Raising her paws, she felt her face. Somehow, none of this felt...right. She felt as if she should be in a different body, in a different world. Furrowing her brow, the badger paused to think.

Her mind was a blank slate with only one word written on it: Skyblade. That was her name, but it wasn't her real name. She didn't know how she knew - perhaps it was just one of her irrational feelings. But feelings could be strong, and this one wouldn't leave her alone.

"Agh," she groaned, her beast-like voice sounding unlike herself. The badger shook her head, which she covered with her paws.

"Let's calm down," she reiterated. "C'mon, Skyblade." Her new name hung uncomfortably in the air. "Let's get out of this predicament."

Had anyone been around, he would have witnessed a strange sight. First, he would have seen a badger pinch herself all over her fur, then ram her head into a tree several times. Then, he would have seen the same beast give herself a small cut with her rapier, raise her arm to sniff the blood, then lick it off. At last, he would have seen her pray and mumble random, sometimes incoherent things to herself.

No matter what Skyblade tried, the biting feeling within her seemed to be proving right. This wasn't a dream. Flustered, the badger leaned against a tree. The bark that scratched her back felt as real as ever as she spoke to the air.

"What's happening?"

GROUP 1: NEAR REDWALL

Something was tickling her nose. Only half awake, she reached her hand up to brush her hair away, and the feeling of something much more than what she was expecting startled her awake. It wasn't hair; why would she think that? It was grass. Not that that was any better. She rubbed her face, surprised to find that she was still wearing her glasses. And covered in fur. She gasped, then mentally kicked herself and calmed down. Of course her face was covered in fur. "I'm a mouse, you idiot." Even saying it aloud, it seemed off. She looked around, she was in the middle of Mossflower woods. She couldn't remember how she had gotten there. The more she thought about it, in fact, the more she realized she hardly remembered anything at all. Her name was... Aimless Gallivanter? "What kind of a name is that?" She shrugged and stood up, dusting herself off. Sunlight filtered warmly through the trees. She searched the ground around herself for something, then stopped. Nothing was there, why would she think that? Something was off. She grew uneasy, and tried to remember more about herself. Her mind wasn't cooperating, memories evaded her grasp, like trying to remember a fading dream. Panic seeped in and she began to mumble to herself, her voice rising in pitch, "What's going on? What the heck is going on This isn't right this isnt right this isnt-" She cut herself off before she started crying, took a deep breath, and changed her tone. "This is fine. I can, um, I'll do something. You're fine, you're alright. You're alright." She took another look around. There seemed to be a path over there. "Follow the path! Find some answers. You've got this, Aimless Gallivanter." She started walking.

(OOC: ive decided to re-enact how I got my nickname, since it wasn't something I came up with. I'll allow the first beast I meet to bestow it upon me :P

EDIT: I moved myself to near Redwall, and @Skyblade. I hope that's alright.)

Dotti sighed as she sat on the rock amidst the crashing waves. She was still under her state of disbelief that she was standing in a world of strange familiarity. Of course it was familiar, but would she be ready to adjust and become used to it? It was probably unlikely that she would survive, for she was not yet ready to face unexpected enemies. Her doubts cleared up when she discovered a sling which lay abandoned among the smaller rocks. She picked it up and tested its elasticity, which brought relief that it still worked.

Just then, a shout, most likely a response to her earlier cry, reverberated in the haremaid's comical ears. A new sense of curiosity dawned in her as she ran to the source. It took her a while before she found it: a shrew being tumbled down! For the first time ever since she realized she was in a different world, she giggled. Little by little, then slowly multiplying, and she stopped when she realized she forgot to greet the shrew.

Bat rolled to a stop at the bottom of the slope, and sprawled out on the sand. She was absolutely covered, head to toe. Sand got stuck in fur so easily. Let's not have any fur anymore, how was that idea? A wonderful one! Just shave herself bald! That'll solve all of her problems! Not to say that she'd still be in this awful place with no idea who the heck she was and all alone except for a freaking bunny rabbit, who was laughing at her!

Bat was not in the best of moods at the moment.

She lay still, not wanting to get up. That would require effort. She glared up at the hare, "What ya laughin' at?" She demanded crossly, "I did that on purpose." It wasn't funny! Okay, maybe if she was an onlooker, she'd be laughing her tail off at the poor unfortunate soul on the ground, but it wasn't funny when she was the one stuck on the sand.

Dotti's giggles slowly died down as she went to greet the shrew. "Good day, chap. Excuse my jolly eccentricity, that was what happens when you're not careful with y'jolly old steps." Her reprimand turned to lament. "But where are we? I'm so bloomin' lost! I have lost my ol' sense of identity that I don't even know who I am!"

Oh good lord, why couldn't she just speak-wait a minute! Bat scrambled to her paws, staring up at this hare and noting just how much height she had on her. Why'd she have to be a shrew? "Hold on a sec here," she held up her paws, trying to think, "you got no idea who you are? As in none?" She sucked in a breath between her teeth, eyes darting around, "I think we may got that in common. Y'see, I wake up in the water o'er dere, and I got no idea who I am or how that happened. All I can remember is me name being Bat, which makes no sense in the slightest. I'm not a bat. I'm a weird mouse thing. But me name's Bat. And that's sorta making me all confuzzled, 'cause if my name's Bat, shouldn't I be a bat? But I'm a shrew, and I dunno if I should be a shrew, because my name's Bat. Which I don't think a shrew would be named. And I don't feel like a shrew, not in the slightest..." She trailed off, having only confused herself more in trying to make sense of the whole thing.

OOC: My hugely overlong starting post!

BIC: Group 2- Mossflower Woods

The wind blew gently through the trees in Mossflower Woods, spreading the fragrant scent of wildflower blossoms. Sunshine dappled the ground through the leaves of the trees, casting a faint green tinge over the scene. Leaning up against a large oak was a squirrel, with dark red fur, and tufted ears. He was wearing a green tunic and a distinctive green hat with a red feather in the brim, reminiscent to some, perhaps, of the outfit of a certain Robin Hood. Both front paws were tucked behind his head and his hat had slipped down over his eyes, and he appeared to be dozing lightly and mumbling in his sleep. "It's the windup, and the pitch! He delivers- and it's a hard hit ball to center field!" Here he shifted slightly and his hat slipped down farther. He mumbled more animatedly, "The center fielder is back, back, back to the warning track, back to the wall- and it's good bye baseball!"

Suddenly, excitedly, he jumped to his feet. Rubbing his eyes and fixing his hat back in its proper place, he wondered aloud to himself, "Hmm, something about a walk-off home run?" He scratched his head contemplatively. That was when he noticed that his fur. Jumping slightly, totally startled, he noted, "That doesn't seem usual." But, unable to remember much of anything at all, other than a few snippets of a baseball game and endless amounts of writing- which seemed to twist themselves away from his mind even as he recalled them- he shrugged his shoulders and decided to make an inspection of his surroundings.

It was a warm day, very probably mid-early summer, and the sun was not high in the sky. He estimated it to be about 10 in the morning. The sky was a deep, vibrant blue, and  clear of clouds as far as the eye could see. Off to his right, to the north, he heard the sound of burbling water. The forest was made up of trees of many varieties, some he wasn't familiar with, but others, such as oaks and aspens, that he recognized immediately. They were very large, far larger than seemed to him usual, and appeared very old. This part of the forest, at least, showed no sign of ever having been logged. The undergrowth was quite light, and the forest floor was covered with a generous carpet of leaves. A thought flashed through his mind: Certainly nothing like any forest in Washington or Missouri. However, it was fleeting, and forgotten almost as soon as it came.

Turning his attention inward, he continued contemplating his confusing circumstances. No memory, no name... Wait, there was something. Wylder, that's right. Wylder Treejumper. In any case, not a wonderful situation. He rubbed behind his ear frustratedly. A squirrel. He knew he was a squirrel, and also that he wasn't supposed to be a squirrel.

Suddenly, he had an idea. He took and experimental jump, and found that he leaped more than three feet in the air. Exhilarated, he jumped high, turned a somersault in the air, landed and pushed into a cartwheel, leaped into a backflip and landed perfectly with both arms out. "Whoo hoo!" he shouted, exhilarated. Deciding to try out some more of his newfound abilities, he bounded neatly up the nearest tree, warily ventured out on a limb, and jumped off towards the next tree. Overextending, he nearly tumbled off the branch, but caught himself. After some experimentation, he got the hang of it, however, and was soon bounding through the branches. Spying a break in the trees and hearing the telltale sound of running water, he discovered a wide, flowing river. Impulsively, he jumped off his branch with a gleeful shout, turned a flip and dove into the river. You know, this really wasn't so bad, after all.

Groddil, not having bothered to acknowledge the time, could not tell how long he'd been in these woods for. Survival instincts had kicked in, another of those hazy memories. He distinctively recalled voices, but could not tell what they were saying. He saw shadows in the corner of his vision, almost like visual cues. In relatively short time, he had stacked up a rough tripod of sticks and kindling under the boughs of a large oak. Another thought flashed through his mind: Wish there were matches. What in Hellgates was a match? What in Hellgates did Hellgates mean? He had no idea, but was starting to get a headache. The grey fox let out a loud sigh, before leaving the clearing, dagger in hand, searching for a way to light the fire.

</[?]\>

Some time later, Groddil re-emerged in the clearing, holding the dagger in one paw and a rather-messily butchered fish in the other. Fishing, he thought. Always so tedious...When did I fish last? Meh.
The task had taken quite a while, firing arrows into the river and trying to hit one of the creatures with them. At least he could retrieve the arrows. He sat down by the unlit fire and started to smash several rocks together until eventually he had gotten a small fire going.

It was a minute or two before Skarzs opened his eyes again. His original fright was over, and his mind was cleared up enough that he could make rational thought. The fact that he was a cougar didn't seem to bother him anymore; it was mostly normal, it seemed. He didn't know how he got where he was, but that wasn't as important as that he was pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
"Well, might as well get going again," Skarzs grumbled to himself as he stood up. It was then that he realized that he was starting to get rather thirsty, and he frowned at the thought. Dunes were no place for fresh water; he knew that much. He could smell the ocean nearby, so that meant that most water he could find would likely be salty, unless he went further away from it.
He decided to climb to the top of a dune and scope out his surroundings. As he looked for the highest dune, however, Skarzs spotted a dark lump peeping out over the edge of a certain dune, and he peered closer. Was that someone else? he asked himself before cupping his paws to his mouth.
  "Hello!"

Faiy started as the large cougar noticed her, and tried to jump to her feet but the sand fell out from under her and she let out a shriek as she skidded and slipped half way down the slope and landed on her back.

"Great, now look what you did, you got sand in my pants!" She snapped. She surprised herself but for some reason she wasn't scared of him.

'He's really just a big softy,' She thought to herself,

'and how on earth do you know that, you just met him,'

'Well I don't think this is earth so it shouldn't matter,'

'You know that is illogical,'

'Well none of this is logical so it I should probably stop trying to make sense of it,'

As I carried on this internal argument with myself I got to my feet, checked to make sure my glasses where ok, and did my best to brush myself off. I remembered that this was why I hated sand.

Skyblade decided that pinching herself and running her head into a tree were doing little favors. If she wanted answers, she'd have to go out and get them. Looking around nervously, she chose a random direction and began to walk. Anyplace was as good as the other. Whatever the location, she was still lost.

As the badger walked, she tried to puzzle out what was going on. Once again, the only thing that came to mind was Skyblade. Please. What kind of title was that, anyway? Let's smash two unrelated words together and call it a name. Skyblade shook her head, feeling the rapier handle under her fingers. Ten minutes in this world and she was already letting panic and frustration overwhelm her.

With a start, Skyblade paused. She waited. First came relief and joy, followed by anxiety. Those were footsteps - someone was coming; she wasn't alone.

Truly a double-edged sword, though, depending on who it was. Skyblade slowly and cautiously headed to the noise, eventually coming onto a path. Before her was a small mouse with glasses. Morning sunlight fell on her fur, giving it a slightly purple shade.

"Hello." Please don't kill me, she added silently. Holding her rapier at her side, Skyblade went on, "I don't want to fight or hurt you. Do you mind telling me who you are, and where we are? I'm a bit lost."

The purpleish mouse in question jumped and yelped at the sound of her voice. She put a paw to her heart and the other to a tree, trying to calm herself down.  "Holy sh- my goodness. Im sorry. I wasn't expecting to find anyone so soon. And a, a badger? Geez. Holy wow. Okay. Sorry." She stopped herself, gathered her composure. " Hi," she offered weakly. She cleared her throat. "My name is Aimless Gallivanter," her face scrunched up when she said that, it still didn't seem right. "I don't know where we are. Sorry."

Skarzs raised an eyebrow at the otter's sudden outburst. "I didn't do anything. All I said was 'hello'."
He was a little short of twice the otter's height, and he was certain she was little threat to him, though it did seem odd how unconcerned the other seemed about him. No matter, of course; he wasn't looking for a fight.
  "You alright?" Skarzs asked.

Faiy quickly realized her mistake "Sorry, I was just a bit flustered that's all," Truth was Faiy was very nervous, she could feel her heart racing. There was a part of her telling her that is beast was potential dangerous. However he didn't seem intent on harming her and she knew that she would be unable to out run him even if she tried. So she opted for trying to get on his good side and hoping for the best.

"I'm fine... though a bit lost... How about you, are you ok?" She asked. A look of concern crossed her face and she scratched her head with the back of her claws.

 Group Two-Mossflower Country

Warm sunlight filtered through the thick brush of trees that stood on the banks of a small creek, from above birdsong filled the air radiating the peace and serenity. Burbling water tickled past splish splashing on its journey to who knows where. An occasional dragonfly droned past hunting amongst the river weeds.

Curled into a ball in a shallow hole indented into the sand, a young rat slumbered peacefully. No effort by the birds, or the creek, or even a good breeze that rustled the treetops could wake him. At last, at his own pace the young rat stretched, yawning widely towards the sky and scratching his throat.

Only then did Sandpaw realize that something was off, not in the physical at least, in that regard it was utterly blissful, though he was a little thirsty. No, something was off with his memories. He knew who he was, that was easy, he was Sandpaw, but hadn?t he been someone else only yesterday? Surely he hadn?t lived by this creek forever, at least it didn?t seem that way.

It couldn?t be. That simply wouldn?t make any sense. No Sandpaw had been living by this creek his whole life, and he had simply forgotten what had occurred. Perhaps time flew past quickly here, in this wonderful little spot, and every day was so exactly the same that they melded together. That made some sense, so Sandpaw accepted it as fact and turned his mind to the bigger question.

Where to get water and food?

Both those little issues turned out to be easy fixes, and Sandpaw walked on all fours to the creek, slurping up some of the water. Just below the surface tiny fish darted just within his reach. Sandpaw grinned, letting them be. He didn?t like the taste of fish, but when had he last tried fish? He supposed that really didn?t matter, he glanced around looking for something else that would provide sustenance. Spotting a likely bush Sandpaw rose to his hind legs and made his way over, fully knowing he was walking differently, but not knowing how or why. It had to be something to do with the long tail that dragged like a snake behind him. He meticulously dusted stray bits of sand off his tunic admiring the dull green color. He had no idea how he had acquired something so fine, it didn?t seem likely for a rodent like himself. Sandpaw shrugged it off, why bother questioning blessings?

The berry bush, for that was what it was, turned out to be blackberry, his favorite. Since when? That didn?t matter either. Careful not to prick his paws on the devious thorns Sandpaw began eating his fill not caring that his paws and jowls were being stained black.

OOC: You know it occurred to me that without our specific memories we'd be very different people. Its our memories of mistakes and successes that dictate how we are going to react to certain instances. Its an interesting idea to think on, and Brian even explored it with the Storm/Mariel story.

OOC: True, that, but we're just going to try to have fun here; I don't think we need to be completely scientifically accurate considering the circumstances. ;)

BIC: "Yeah, I'm good," said Skarzs in answer. "Just pretty lost myself. Came running from over that way, though I'm not entirely sure how I got there." He pulled his pointing arm back and scratched his ear. "It's odd."
After a moment, he turned back to the otter. "My name's . . . Skarzs."
It sounded odd to say his own name, but at the same time, it felt right. As confusing as it was, Skarzs pushed his own questions to the back of his mind; they weren't as important as the current circumstances.

"I'm Faiy," Faiy bounced back without falter but after she said it she paused, that wasn't all there was... there was more, but her mind felt as if it was grasping at straws or wisps of smoke. She looked in the direction Skarzs pointed in but only saw more sand and sun. She looked in the opposite direction, there in the distance loomed the mountain fortress. She cocked her head and considered it for a moment. Some how she knew there would be help waiting there but she did not know how.

"Well if we wan't to get out of this sun I suggest we head for that mountain over there," She said and pointed.

GROUP 2 MOSSFLOWER.
In the middle of an old forest, a mouse woke up. Tom was his name. Yes, that name felt right. But something was different. He felt warm. Was he wearing a jacket? No, he was... furry. He was completely covered in reddish brown fur, except for his tail. Wait, tail? What was going on? He had gone outside to read his favorite book and... Wait a minute. That was exactly what he had done. There was his book, there was his tent, and there was his sword. Wait, sword? How had he got his paws on that? But when he picked it up, it felt strangley... comforting. Anyhow, he was hungry, and there was a delicious looking stew in the cast iron pot above the fire.

OOC PLEASE READ: Groups 2 and 3 both have four people now. They're open until they max out at five, but it's recommended that any newcomers join Group 1.

@Thomas Barkshield: Can you edit your post? We don't have anything from our old universes with us (unless the book and tent are from the Redwall world, in which case it's fine).

BIC: "It's nice to meet you." Skyblade took a step forward, then stopped. "Aimless Gallivanter? That's a nice name, though a bit of a mouthful. Do you have a nickname?" After a pause, she added, "I'm Skyblade, by the way."

The badger offered a small, awkward smile. "So, you're lost too? I mean, not to offend you or anything," she added quickly. Why don't we pull it together, Skyblade. "Where are you from, though?"

"Nice to meet you too, Skyblade. And, um, I'm not so sure about my nickname. You can call me whatever you want." She kept making partial eye contact, looking away, scratching the back of her neck, and glancing around at the forest nervously. "I'm from, uh, over there," she gestured vaguely in the direction she came from, "I guess you could say I'm lost, yeah." She shrugged, and down at the ground. Having only just met this creature, she didn't feel like she should divulge all her troubles on her. She wanted to help, but she really knew nothing. It seemed like Skyblade wouldn't be able to help her either, and she wished the badger would let her keep going. New people made her nervous. Another part of her, though, was relieved to have found another woodlander; she also didn't like being alone.

"It's gotta be better than being in this heat; besides, there might be rainwater or something collected somewhere along it." Gee, that sounds helpful, he reprimanded himself. "You don't happen to have any good water on you, do you? Because I seem to be pretty ill-prepared."

Faiy realized she had no idea what she had with her, She patted herself down and checked her pockets before she realized that she had no pockets.

"What is it with girls and impractical pockets?" She grumbled more to herself than Skarzs, though she was not sure why she cared, She realized that most people didn't have pockets, except for in coats and aprons, but the injustice that she didn't have proper pockets still itched at the back of her mind. "Sorry, don't have much of anything really," She said with a shrug, "Well standing here isn't getting us anywhere," She said and then started off in the direction of the mountain.

After checking himself for anything, and finding nothing but a hammer with an angled end and a large knife, Skarzs followed the otter with casual steps, making sure he didn't pass her by. He didn't really feel like talking to Faiy, since they had just met, and he was content to observe how she acted.
For now, he simply looked around, thinking about nothing in general, noting a rock here and a plant there, and occasionally a broken shell of a young crab where it was eaten by gulls. He tried not to focus on his confusion, as he couldn't answer any questions he had. So he walked in silence, watching the mountain grow gradually closer under the beating sun.

Licking his forepaws Sandpaw was concluding his blackberry feast when he heard something crack behind him. It was barely audible, yet some key instinct flickered to life in the back of his head. Slowly the rat turned, trusting his large flappy ears more than his eyes, though he continued to scan the surrounding trees.

Sure enough, approaching through the underbrush, two figures could be seen, clearly doing their best to stay hidden. Sandpaw decided that he might as well speak, but just to be safe he dropped to his knees and scooped up several walnut sized river stones in his paw. He wasn't sure why, but he felt he could hurl a round rock hard and accurate at a close target.

Standing again Sandpaw addressed the approaching figures with as much confidence as he could muster, there was the slight hope that who, or whatever it was would be helpful in reminding him of who he truly was, and why he was there.

"Ahem, hi, you two in the trees. I see ya there, might as well come out before I clonk yall with a rock." The two figures stopped, and seemed to hold a whispered conference before standing in full view. It was a pair of weasels, both around his age, with blackberry dye painted in their fur, and as Sandpaw was quick to notice, ragged clothing. Brandishing homemade clubs they crashed through the bushes until they were flanking each other waving the fire hardened batons under Sandpaw's sensitive nose. The young rat was sure he had never seen them before, as he would have remembered the stench they gave off.

"Harr he's a berry thief little brother, thas' wot 'e is. We ought ter club 'is bounce. Shan't we?" The first growled not truly sounding confident with this idea. Sandpaw quickly took a step back tightening his grip on the pebbles.

"Hang on, why'a do that?" He snapped defensively, mentally preparing himself for a potential scuffle.

Groddil's ears pricked up. He could hear something nearby, something that sounded like talking. Flipping the fish from the fire, the fox notched an arrow to his bowstring. His keen sense of smell picked up something that smelled positively awful coming from the same direction. He slowly crept through the bushes, brandishing his weapon. There were two filthy weasels, armed with clubs, threatening a rat that looked around the same age as himself. The other creature looked capable enough, but might not be very good up against two opponents. Groddil grinned, at least there was a way to challenge them from afar. He pulled the arrow back further and let it loose, where it thudded into one of the weasel's footpaws.
"Gaaaaah! Wha' was 'at for? Liddle dung beetle! 'Ammer 'is skull in!"
Groddil stood in the bush nervously, still clutching the bow. He looked around stupidly, before drawing the knife and leaping out, tackling the weasel to the ground.
"Ooowwww..."
"Er, hello rat. Need some help here?"

It was not long before Faiy began to notice the suns angry glare against her back and sholders. She soon found that she could walk in the shadow of her new found companion which granted her a little relief. He did not seem interested in conversation and for some odd reason Faiy could not seem to recall anything conversation worthy so they walked in silence. Finally she spoke up "So...  The sudden arrival of a rather violent fox turned the sticky situation in Sandpaw's favor, though he wasn't sure what to think of the fox he hardly liked the fact he had just swatted the weasel on the head.
"Hey everyone, cool your jets, lets figure this out first. Um fox, thanks for the backup but don-" He didn't get much farther because one of the weasels prodded him in the stomach with his club. Sandpaw grunted and doubled up while the weasel stamped his footpaws angrily.

"Tell th' tod ter leave me brother alone," He shouted angrily before rounding on Groddil. "Stop'it or we'll make ye fish bait wit' me club. See?" He waved the rod around wildly accidently smacking his moaning brother in the nose.

"OW, me snoze!"

"Would you stop waving those things around!" Sandpaw shouted in irritation his eyes watering as the backswing from the rather beat up little brother swatted him in the head. The young rat sat down glaring at all present. "What's going on here? Where'd ya'll even come from anyway?"

The older weasel brother answered first, keeping a weather eye on the fox. "We're th' fierce gang Blood n' gutters, an' this is our turf see. An' yer stealing me n' me brother's berries see, an' ye." He glared at Groddil, "Are tressin-passin, aye, so ye 'ave ter give us everythin' ye 'ave."

Sandpaw blinked at the youthful, weasel gangster before looking at the silver furred fox. "What about you bro? What's your beef?"

"I'm going to get a better idea of where I am, so I can stop being, you know, lost." The badger scrambled up the bark, trying to make her actions seem fluent and easy.

A few moments later, Skyblade leaped onto the ground with a spark in her black eyes. "Aimless Gallivanter, there's a building nearby, that way." She gestured down the path. "It's within walking distance. Maybe they can help us."

Groddil rolled his eyes.
"I THOUGHT I had enough of this nonsense ALREADY! You want my things? FINE! TAKE THEM!"
He clobbered the weasel in the nose with the handle of his knife.
"WAS THAT WHAT YOU WANTED? HUH?"
"Gaaaahh! Me nose! Stop it!"
The fox panted heavily, throwing the weapon aside. He stared at the weasel nursing his bloodied face with contempt and spat.
"I hate being treated like this. If you open your mouth one more time, I SWEAR I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!"
Groddil threw himself to the ground beside Sandpaw.
"Umm, sorry about that. I've been through a lot, I don't know what came over me."
Been through what? he thought. I can't remember.

Aimless Gallivanter watched with disguised amusement as the badger climbed the tree. She was pretty sure they weren't supposed to do that.

"A building? So you're headed that way?" She stared off into the distance, chewing on the inside of her cheek, then seemed to refocus as she made a decision. She looked back at Skyblade. "Do you mind if I go with you?"

"I wouldn't mind at all, Aimless Gallivanter." A nickname would be really helpful here. Skyblade smiled at the mouse and began heading down the path.

As Skyblade walked, she tried to think some more. She glanced at Aimless Gallivanter, and as she did, a chill ran down her back. The mouse seemed familiar somehow, which made no sense, considering that Skyblade was currently memory-less. Perhaps it was deja vu.

"Can I call you Galli?" she said. With a shrug, she added, "It's a nickname that just popped into my head, and fewer syllables than "Aimless Gallivanter"."

"I won' talk n'more, pweese sthap." The eldest weasel groaned laying submissively on the ground. His brother made no move to aid him and the "Fearsome gang," sat rather put out on the grass. Sandpaw scooted a little away from the fox eyeing him fearfully. He remained on the ground nursing his head listening as the fox attempted to convince him he was friendly. Sandpaw wasn't entirely convinced, actions certainly spoke louder than words.

"Alright bro, you're friendly, we're cool." He said plaintively, though ready to bolt at a moment's notice. "Look just don't hit me okay, I'm not going to leave you alone, I guess." Sandpaw stood up quickly adjusting his tunic. "So what's your name? I could just call you foxy," He chuckled winking," But you can call me Sandpaw, Sandpaw um..." Did he have a last name? He couldn't think of anything, just the letters 'L' and 'T' but those had no names to accompany them. He hesitated for a moment longer then shrugged. "Just Sandpaw, I'm a rat in case you didn't know." He waited for a moment, then remembering what was polite he held out his paw.

The fox reached out his paw and gave Sandpaw's a hearty shake.
"So, uhh...Did you want ta come ta my fire? I got a fish nearly cooked, an' I could never finish it on my own. An' we could make a shelter or somethin' too. How's about...a lean-to, maybe?"
How did he know how to make a lean-to? Groddil's head was really starting to hurt. He really hoped Sandpaw wouldn't run off.

GROUP TWO

Soft eyes flickered open to leaves everywhere. Something was not right. The fox started to get up as if expecting a fight, but stopped halfway to examine his paws.

What.... am I?

The fox looked around for something reflective, but saw nothing but trees and shrubbery. He slowly examined his face with his hands and looked curiously at the tail that apparently belonged to him.

I think I'm... a fox?

The fox stood up from the crouch he had been in and looked around again.

Where am I? And.. who am I?

The fox held his head in his hands, desperately trying to remember anything previous. The only thing that came to his mind was "Kitsune". He assumed that this must be his name.

Even if it's not, it's good enough for me to use for now.

Kitsune looked around for a third time. He did not like feeling off-guard, and not knowing how he got there disturbed him. He was about to sit down again to collect his thoughts, when a faint voice caused him to snap his head in the direction it came from. He decided to investigate. Quietly.

-•-•-•-

After the painstaking process of moving the long distance across the forest floor without snapping a twig, Kitsune was able to make out the voices. It sounded like people were talking about fires and fish. He could definitely smell it cooking. Kitsune instinctively reached for the slim sword in his belt, but when he grabbed it, he looked down in surprise.

When did I get this? ....Or this bow and these arrows? Or this pack?

Kitsune decided to open the pack and found a few small pieces of bread inside.  He started to feel dizzy; nothing was making sense anymore. He shook his head and cautiously approached the small camp from a small hill nearby, being careful to not let any part of him be seen. It seemed like there was a fox and a rat talking to an elderly weasel. Kitsune decided to stay hidden until he judged if it was safe.

Ashenwyte awoke in a clearing, sun shining harshly in his eyes. "Sun's harsh today. These robes and my fur don't help, either." He thought "Wait, what? Robes and fur? This isn't normal. This is definitely not normal." Faint memories came back, incoherent and unhelpful. With a sign, he stood, to find two massive gauntlets of steel before him.

They were ornate, and very well crafted. He read the text on one of them. "Ashenwyte." He read aloud. For a strange reason, he felt that was his name. He gingerly put them on, and to his surprise, they fit. With a loud roar, he set off into a random direction, feeling that that direction was the way to go.

OOC: Sorry Tom, I thought you'd approached Sky and Aim. :P

IC:

The rodent flinched in concern as a sword wielding mouse barged onto his once peaceful plot of land. Sandpaw was beginning to wonder if he was the receiver on some cruel joke. Cautiously keeping an eye on Groddil and the mouse he knelt beside the fallen weasels whispering to them angrily.

"Look you two, I don't wanna hurt yall, but I'm think these others are crazy, so get out of here while you still can." The two needed no second bidding and they fled; splashing across the shallow water still holding their bleeding noses. Sandpaw and the mouse, who had entitled himself as Thomas, were the only ones left standing by the creek. Kneeling down Sandpaw took on a very non-threatening pose while trying to stay ready should this new arrival be aggressive as well. So far the creatures Sandpaw had met didn't have a great record of non-violence.

"Look mouse, Tom, if that's your name, I have plenty of food here, and water too. Feel free to use it if you wanna." He gestured at the water and berries. "Do what you want, leave me alone and we'll be cool. Just know this is my patch of forest now, and I ain't leaving it, and I don't want to have to hurt no one, but I'll fight if I gotta." To reiterate his point Sandpaw stamped his hind paw and clicked his large front teeth, he was quite sure they could deliver a painful bite, and stained with blackberry juice as they were the incisors had taken on a venomous blue coloring. Still the mouse had a sword, and now the fox had a club, if he wanted to survive should they turn violent on him, he'd need a good weapon soon. River pebbles might not make the cut.

OOC:

Hey Kit do you want Groddil or me to notice you? Or are you going to come out on your own?

"Yes, I like that," replied Skyblade. Feeling the wind ruffle her fur, the badger stared into the distance as they walked.

Before long, they came to a set of large, red walls that formed a square around the building Skyblade had seen from the tree. It was a large structure, with a tall, looming tower that reached to the sky.

Feeling her rapier, Skyblade crept cautiously to what appeared to be a set of doors. "Think I should knock? Hopefully the fellows here are nice. I guess we won't know until we try."

OOC: I'll make my move.

IC: The fox watched the strange happenings below where he was. It seemed as if the rat had claimed the land as his own and that others had come along and were bothering him. It certainly seemed like a tense situation.

Maybe I should just leave while I can. I don't want to get into a fight. Then again... a few pieces of bread will only keep me alive for a short time. Being on friendly terms with others would probably help.

Kitsune wrestled with his feelings for a bit. His instinct told him that this situation could turn bad quickly, but his logical side liked the idea of strength in numbers. He made up his mind, stood up, and jumped lightly down to the clearing below. He took an arrow out of its sheath, spun it and nocked it on his bow, then drew it back and fired it at the fish cooking over the fire. It hit and sent the fish flying back, pinning it to a tree. Kitsune lowered his bow.

"I heard you needed a bow."

Galli started up at the walls. They were solid looking and impressive. She shrugged, "Go for it. If they are mean, um..."   She must have had something similar happen to her, he thought. "What about you? Think it's amnesia?" The cougar grunted in displeasure after he said that. "Bah, that can't be right. If the same thing's happened to you, it's gotta be some huge coincidence or the same reason."

"Huh? What? A bow...Who're you? An' why did ya ruin me fish?"
Groddil notched an arrow to his own bow, pointing it at the other archer.
"You got a lot a nerve bargin' inta me camp like that. I've already had to put up with territorial weasels and thankless rats, so whada you want?"

Faiy mulled over this new piece of information for a moment in silence as she tried to see how it fit into the puzzle.

"...Well, I know this sounds odd, but when I first saw you I felt like I knew you from somewhere, but couldn't place it. If we did used to know each other that might explain a few things. Perhaps we both survived some sort of devastating trauma, something so horrible that we had to forget it... If that is the case there is the possibility that our memories will come back to us over time. But you are right, retrograde amnesia is very rare..." Faiy then trailed off not entirely sure what all that nonsense she had spouted meant, just a second ago it had made perfect sense, but now it was like trying to remember a dream. "Sorry,"

OOC: Confrontation is good.

IC:

Sandpaw nearly jumped out of his fur as an arrow whizzed past spearing the fish cooking in the fire pit that Groddil had just set up. The rat's ears pressed against his skull and he leapt across the creek, splashing his bare paws in the water. Confused and angry Sandpaw glared in turn at the two vulpines trying to decide which one most warranted his concern.

"Why'd you do that?" He snapped at last towards the brown furred fox glancing from him to the feathered shaft that stuck up like a mast from Groddil's fish. "You know I've had just about enough of this, how many more of you are hiding in the trees? What's going on here, I swear if this is some kind of prank... Do you guys want me to leave or something?" Hearing Groddil the rodent's hackles rose and he balled his paws into fists angrily.
"Thankless rat? Your camp! Now hang on just a minute who are ya calling thankless rat?" Sandpaw snarled, "And why are you talking funny?"

OOC:

Kit, I love the entrance. How else to enter a conversation then shooting a random fish and saying, "I heard you needed a bow."  ;D

Groddil was really getting annoyed. Thugs, food ruiners, and ungrateful rats. He kept the bow trained on Kitsune with one paw while he menacingly shook his knife towards Sandpaw.
"You're a rat aren't ya? And as fer thankless, I helped ya with those weasels, and what do I get? Ya threaten ta hurt me, just like everyone else! This is my camp, 'cause I made a fire an' I was here first! Find your own food, an' make your own fire!"

Before long Ashenwyte came to a large building, which took away his breath. The massive walls were red, and a name popped into his mind. "Redwall." He thought "The name fits. What is this place, though?" He walked closer and saw two beasts standing near the gates. Without thinking, he shouted out and waved.

"Greetings, strangers? Who are you?" He suddenly realised his mistake, but he had a feeling these beasts were peaceful, and he felt like he'd known them.

OOC: It's usually a result of prior bad experiences (their own or others) that predispose them to distrust. I wouldn't say it's an innate characteristic.

BIC: Hearing a commotion farther down the river, Wylder swam back to the bank. Lying at the base of an oak on the river bank was a finely crafted bow, a quiver of arrows, and a thin, well-wrought sword in a scabbard. By pure instinct, he buckled the sword onto his belt, slung the quiver over one shoulder and the bow over the other. It simply felt natural, as if they had been made for him. Shaking himself dry, he sprung up into the branches and bounded off towards the noise.

Before he reached the source, he could smell whiffs of smoke and the scent of roasting meat- fish, it was. Before long, he could hear distinct voices, fraught with tension and danger.

"I have the funny feeling I should be cleaving you two in half right now, but thus far I've been generous. So let's all quiet down and do this like civilized beasts. Well, as civilized as you two can get, I suppose."

He peered down from his perch in the tree and noted with surprise and dismay four beasts with drawn weapons, arguing ferociously over who-knows-what. Enjoying his abilities in spite of himself, he jumped and pulled a backflip, landing squarely in the center of the confrontation. Spreading both paws wide, he said, "Take it easy, guys. I'm having a rather nice morning, and I'd hate to have to ruin it by having to bandage somebeast up because beasts weren't careful where they were waving their weapons." He eyed their drawn weapons disapprovingly. "Come now, we can solve this without drawing blades."

"WHAT THE... Why are there so many creatures here now? What have I done to deserve this? Wake up in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by animals that want me dead!"
Groddil resheathed the knife, swinging the bow from creature to creature.
"Why does everyone always do this? Think they're better than me, try ta take me food an' throw me out in the dirt! I'm sick of it! All of you go away! This is my camp! I made the fire an' I cooked the fish. LEAVE!"
The fox began backing away.

Wylder shrugged and nodded, though he wondered slightly at the fox's short temper. "I'd say that's a reasonable request. Come on, boys, let's leave the fox alone. If it's food you're looking for, I'm pretty sure I saw a blackberry bush back there." He stuck his thumb over his right shoulder. "A bit spiky, but there's not much better than fresh blackberries for lunch."

Waving the beasts away from the camp, he decided to gratify his curiosity. "So, what are y'all doing around here? Streambank in the middle of the woods seems an odd place for a meeting like that."

Galli started up at the walls. They were solid looking and impressive. She shrugged, "Go for it. If they are mean, um..." She noticed the badger's hand on her rapier, and checked her own belt for weapons. Sadly, there were none.  She picked up a stick. "...I'll whack em with this stick, and you can make a run for it." She smirked.
"I don't want to leave you alone," Skyblade replied. "Well, we'll see what happens." She was about to knock when a new voice surprised her.

Following the newest arrival away from what had been, "his patch of woods," Sandpaw pouted slightly, shoving his claws between his belt and tunic. At least the squirrel seemed less unpredictable and more rational then Groddil had been. Sandpaw felt more at ease with him, though he still didn't trust the red furred rodent fully.

"I don't know what's going on to tell you the truth." He answered the squirrel, jerking his head towards the two foxes who were talking. "One minute I was alone, here in my home, I live here now, I think. Anyway one moment I was having a usual morning eating breakfast when all of a sudden animals seem to be appearing from everywhere." He slumped his shoulders inspecting the squirrel closely, looking for any sign of deceit. "I'd actually really appreciate a explanation myself. The name is Sandpaw, by the way."

Groddil lowered his bow, slipping the arrow into his quiver, and took the fish from Kitsune.
"Of course. S-Sorry, I...There's something in my head. I don't feel like myself. I don't even know who 'myself' IS. My name's Groddil...I think. Want some fish?"

Groddil nodded, devouring the fish.
"Mmm, yeah. Go ahead."
After finishing the meal, he stood up.
"I don't think we'll last for long out 'ere without a plan. I reckon we should try and build a shelter so we're not as exposed. Plenty a fish in the river, so we won't starve at least."
He paused, his gaze seeming to get darker.
"An' we'll need to be careful that we aren't attacked. We're both armed, so we should take watches at night just in case. Whaddaya say...Uhh...What's your name again?"

"I agree. We should probably look for some natural shelter to help, like a hollowed out tree or a cave. Also, it might be easier to survive if we get some of the others to side with us. I'll go see if I can talk some sense to them."

Kitsune finished his fish, then got up and walked off toward the group some distance away.

"Oh yeah, I'm Kitsune by the way" he casually tossed over his shoulder before exiting the small camp.

"Alright," Kitsune called back. He made sure all his weapons were in reach, but not out and threatening, for he could now see the rat and squirrel a short distance away. He was not sure where the other had went.

A short distance off, He raised a hand in greeting. "Hello!" When he got closer, he continued. "My name is Kitsune. That situation back there was tense. But, I think we can make sense of it. The other fox, Groddil, was just as confused and disoriented as we probably all were. Something must have happened. What, I'm not sure. But in the face of this uncertainty of the past, it would probably be best if we put these small differences aside and stick together. Groddil and I are going to find a good place to build a shelter. Would you like to join us?"

Groddil wouldn't have approved of me inviting the rat as well. But, if he did turn out to be hostile, it would be better to keep him where we can see him. He was probably just confused, as we all were, and didn't like the idea of people intruding his land.

Sighing Sandpaw made a small sign to show he had heard Kitsune rubbing the fur between his ears methodically. He supposed there was no other choice, and these beasts who seemed to be appearing from everywhere weren't going to leave any time soon, he might as well get to know them better. Perhaps it was simply coincidence that they had come here, and not a collaborated scheme.

"Sure," He called at last uncrossing his arms and walking up to Kitsune. "I just want to know, did you manage to calm that crazy fox down properly? I'm Sandpaw, just so you know." He didn't bother trying to shake paws, and instead shoved them back between his belt and tunic staring at Kitsune. Pursing his lips the rat glanced about then focused back on the fox. "So uh, do you have a plan, or is the plan at the moment get random strangers onboard to build uh," He paused for a moment, "Shelter...?"

"As far as plans go, I think the main focus right now should be to survive. I don't know the lay of the land, so perhaps after building a shelter, we should go exploring for a bit. Any thoughts?"

Slowly, an aging squirrel pushed open the door. He jumped upon seeing the trio outside. "Goodness sakes, two badgers and a mouse!" Calming down, he smiled amiably. "All friends are welcome at our Abbey, but what brings such an unusual group to our gates?" he asked, noting the awkward appearances of his guests.

As the squirrel led them through the sunlit lawns, Skyblade looked around in awe. Before she could forget, she asked inquisitively, "What's a Summer Nameday Celebration?"

"Tis when we celebrate the coming of a new season, marm. We're calling this one the Summer of the Lost and Found. Not sure why...it was our Abbot Birch who decided upon it." Gaily, the squirrel led them inside the Abbey building and into Great Hall.

BIC: Skarzs tested the edge of his knife, wondering where he got it. Something made him think that he made it himself, though he couldn't be certain. Sheathing it again, he looked out over the dunes at the ever-growing mountain. It was dark and monolithic against the clear sky, pitted with small dark crevices and little bits of vegetation.
He suddenly heard motion to his left, and he turned quickly to the noise. Though he was still walking, Skarzs didn't think whatever it was that made the noise was of much concern since he couldn't spot it. He turned his attention back on the mountain.
"I wonder if it's called anything. Mountain that size in the middle of the beach must draw some attention."
"Oh indeed, old thing. It's called Salamandastron, wot wot?" Skarzs nearly knocked the hare over as he spun to face him, a motley, sandy-colored creature with lanky limbs and comically floppy ears. Thankfully he had hopped neatly out of the way of Skarzs' massive paws. The hare waggled his ears cheekily at the cougar as he looked up at him. "I say, you're a bally giant of a beast, aren't you? Faiy looked up at the mountain and considered it. She though about giving it a name, at least until they found out what it was really called, but before she could suggest anything she heard a voice quite close behind them and saw a flash of motion out of the corner of her eye. She she shrieked and jumped, clapping her paws over her mouth and spun around, her heart racing. She stared at the hare from behind Skarzs and tried to get her nerves back. "Good lord you scared me. Don't go sneaking up behind people like that," She reprimanded. She could see now that the creature was harmless... or at least not intending to hurt them. She realized she had been overly cross and quickly said "Sorry, I'm such a mouse..." She trailed off at this, not sure it was completely proper she noticed the hare give a slight frown "Sorry, is that Racist?" she asked innocently enough. At this point she felt down right confused, a part of her felt like it had been a perfectly socially acceptable thing to say, but another part felt like it was prejudiced. All of a sudden she felt very overwhelmed. She had no idea what on earth had happened to her where she was, or who she was for that matter, she was with a pair of complete strangers who seemed to expect her to know what she was doing and she hurt all over from walking, and being out in the sun, and the sand rubbing between her cloths, and to top it off she noticed she was starting to smell like some one who had been walking in the sun for hours.

Her nerves began to rise up in her stomach like a swarm of bee's and made her knees feel weak. She pushed her glasses up the brig of her nose, "We'll, I'm not sure, really, can't seem to remember, and I think we are a bit lost... at least I am," She said and and looked around, unable to make eye contact with the hare.

Well, she couldnt remember much at all. She shoved the thought out of her head and stared at Redwall. It somehow seemed familiar, yet at the same time she knew she'd never been there before.   From Skarzs' perspective, Faiy seemed on the verge of collapse. "Did you need to sit down?" he asked.
He turned to the hare. "Sorry. We're both rather confused. . . We aren't sure where we are, and we've been walking for a while now, without water. If you have any, at least a little, we'd be most gracious. We're just trying to get to the mountain and see what we can find. At least get the lay of the land."

Faiy liked the idea of siting down but she didn't wan't to be the damsel if she didn't have to. "Im fine... though water sounds like a good idea," she said.

"I dare say, you do look a bit parched, wot," The hare said and handed Faiy a canteen. She took it and greedily downed a long draft, though she still made sure there was enough for Skarzs. When she had finished she handed it off to him and then turned back the the hare.

"Thank's, I'm Faiy, and this is Scarzs," She said. She felt a lot better now that she was not thirsty.

Skarzs drained the canteen easily, sadly wishing there was more, though he was thankful his mouth wasn't so dry. The blasted sun was like being to close to a fire, but not being able to step away from it.
"Faiy and Skarzs, wot? Well, my name is Nenners Wifflechop Sandpallan, but you can jolly well just call me Nenners! Well, if you're going to the mountain, I may as well go along with you, 'specially since I live there, wot!"
"The mountain is your home?" Skarzs was somewhat incredulous.
"Indeed it is! Lots of other hares live there as well, dontcha know. Though, you might have a bit of a hard time walking around in some places, bein' as tall as you are, wot?" He hopped off a few paces then came back. "Well, are you coming?"

OOC: Back, guys! for a bit, anyways. I'll try to stay on top, but no promises... :P

BIC: Wylder grinned. "Good, I'm glad we can resolve all this sensibly. There are quite a few things we should do to prepare ourselves, and we should get them done as quickly as possible before night sets in. Should be in about, eleven hours, I'd say," he noted, looking up at the sun. He extended his paw. "By the way, I'm Wylder. Wylder Treejumper, in full. Pleasure to meet you."

Faiy went quiet and just watched them both, just trying to take it all in. When the hare asked if they where coming she snapped herself out of it and hurried after. "Yes, of course," she said hurriedly. She was unsure what to make of any of this so far and her initial excitement was beginning to wear off and was replaced by analytical observations. She began to discreetly watch both Skarzs and Nenners with an intense curiosity. It was like she was trying to figure out what made them tick. It wasn't that she didn't trust them, or that she felt unsafe, It was more like she was testing the waters, (or in this case observing them) before diving in the deep end. Also her lack of memories was beginning to nag at her. She wanted to say something but she didn't have anything to talk about.

Nenners continued to chatter on and Faiy would nod or shrug, because she had little to add. through this way they learned a lot about the mountain. Who lived their, what it was their for, who was in charge, etc...

OOC: Alright, I'm back...Now that I'm typing this, it's pretty fun.

BIC: Skyblade had drifted away and was walking around the Abbey. Beautiful as it was, she was chiefly focused on getting home, and she would let nothing stop her.

Before she had left, she had asked the Abbot if there was a map anyone could view. His response was that the Abbey Recorder had several. So off to the Gatehouse (OOC: Is that what it was called? Ah, whatever, you know what I mean :P) she was going.

Cautiously, Skyblade opened the door. Scribbling furiously on a desk was a young hedgehog.

Introductions were brief and polite; Skyblade soon learned that the hedgehog was called Thistle and had been in Redwall since he was a dibbun. Soon a variety of maps were spread out before them, with Skyblade soaking in whatever she could.

Sala...what? What is that? Mossflower Woods, okay, that's where I was - even though I have no clue what it is. And all of these random places I don't know. And this...

Skyblade's heart missed a beat. She pointed to a certain landmark. Although the badger was unsure why, it created a feeling she didn't want to ignore.

"What is Loamhedge Abbey?"

A horde of Dibbuns, fascinated with Galli's faintly purple-ish fur, had descended on her, taking her hand and dragging her along on a tour.
"This is da Cellars an' deres da kitchens an'..."
"...dat's Brudder Ralver an' dats Sisser May and dats da Friar..."
"...an' we foun' a big beetle-y bug over dere las' night but Avvie let it get away an'..."
The whirl of information made her head spin but she did her best to follow along. As they encountered the Abbeybeasts, she searched their faces for any signs recognition. No one knew her; there would be no answers here. She tried to hide her disappointment, suddenly feeling very tired. Eventually the Dibbuns found a new, more interesting thing, and their tour promptly ended, leaving Galli stranded near the front gates. She leaned against the wall of what the Dibbuns had called the gatehouse, watching the Abbey-dwellers go about their day.

And before the haremaid could respond, she winked out of existence. Screeching like a banshee, Bat leapt away, slipping yet again on the sand. She sat up, staring wide-eyed at the place she'd used to be until a few seconds ago. "Where'd you go?" People just disappearing, it was impossible! She stood, taking a few hesitant steps towards where she'd been, running her paws through the air. Nothing.

Sudden terror gripped her, and Bat scrambled away and began tearing off down the beach and towards the mountain again. She had no idea where she was, had no idea who she was, and had no idea how that hare had disappeared, and running was the only thing that made sense at the moment.

BIC: Galli heard voices from inside the gatehouse. Curious, she tried to casually peer through the open window to see who was there; it was Skyblade, and an unfamiliar hedgehog. Leaning partially through the window, she spoke up, "Hey Sky! What's-" and suddenly vanished.

Keeping his paws stubbornly by his side Sandpaw jerked his head towards the squirrel Wylder. "Pleasure, I'm sure in some way meeting all of ya'll is a pleasure. Don't ask me right now how it is, I'm just going to pretend that it is."

Shaking water from his footpaws Sandpaw begrudgingly crossed the creek and made his way back towards the fox Groddil, looking over his shoulder to see if Wylder and Kitsune were following.
"I'm not going to pretend, I'm not impressed by the fact that you can tell time by the position of the sun. That's pretty darn brill, but we're burning daylight just standing around like this, let's go."

Skarzs was beginning to get a little bit tired of Nenners' constant talking, the hare switching between talking about Salamandastron and expressing his disbelief at how big Skarzs was. The cougar was tired, thirsty, hungry, sweaty, and in great need of some time to rest his brain. The mountain almost didn't seem to be getting any closer, the land stretching away ahead of him like the landscape in a dream. He wondered how Faiy was holding up under the constant walking, though he wasn't sure he wanted to ask right then. He would see.
"Keep your wits about you, friends," Nenners was saying. "We've been having some trouble with vermin recently, and we never know when some might pop up, wot? It won't be too long before we're at the jolly old mountain. . ."

Faiy was getting a painful stitch in her side from all the walking but it was all the sand that seemed to rub against her skin from every crack and crevice of her clothing that was really getting to her. She vowed to take a long shower as soon as they got there. Nenners voice was droning on in the background, she had given up trying to listen to him long ago and was now just intent on taking one step after another. She knew that shelter was not far of and if she just kept pushing herself for a little longer they would be there and she could get something to drink and to eat and a place to sleep in the shade.

OOC: I wasn't on the forum this week :P

BIC: "Aimless Gallivanter" should have been Skyblade's name, because wandering uselessly was what she had been doing for the past hour. Around and around she went, looking for some sort of light to shed on her questions.

Finding Galli wherever she was, Skyblade approached. "I was talking to the Recorder earlier, and he showed me some maps. Is it just me, or does a place called "Loamhedge Abbey" ring a bell?"

BIC: "It- um, yeah that seems... familiar somehow." Her face scrunched up in confusion. "But I can't...connect a place to the name. I- I don't know... I'm sorry, I don't know." She shook her head, distressed.

OOC: Thanks! ;D

Skyblade gave a beastlike groan. "Ugh, sorry." The badger put her paws on her head. "I'm just hearing this weird music..."

It was a lovely melody, actually, but the problem was that she had no idea what it was or how she knew it. She tried to remember the lyrics but realized it didn't have any.

"Weird. I guess it's an old song I knew. Anyway..." Skyblade narrowed her eyes. "I don't think Loamhedge Abbey is something to be ignore; at least, I feel we need to do something with it. Maybe we just need to find out more about it, somehow."

BIC: Fearing that the shrew would try to take advantage on her, Dotti stole away from her side as quickly as her footpaws could, darting herself with the craggy rocks that stood against the crashing waves. Her speed progressed from rock to rock trying to look for shelter, until she bumped against another creature, a cougar.

The haremaid found herself staring at the cougar who in turn stared back at her with contempt. She drew back in shame and made a low bow. "Sorry to offend ya, sah, but I am as blinkin' lost as a seashell. I'm lookin' for some place to stay and make myself at home, wot!"

OOC: I'm going to be gone this week, possibly longer, so let's just say Sky went somewhere else :P

BIC: Skyblade gave her the map. "Can you excuse me for a moment? I need to think."

The badger was confused - well, more confused than before. Not only was this strange melody encircling her head, but so were other things...faint things, things she couldn't quite grasp. Skyblade walked around the ramparts, alone, pausing to gaze at the Mossflower Woods stretching before her. The young beast closed her eyes, letting her thoughts overtake her.

"Sky! Sky!" someone called the name she knew was not hers. Now the badger held sonething in her paws...no, these were not paws...they felt different. Lighter. More flexible.

She was holding some type of long, thin pipe at a sideways angle, blowing into it, and she realized that the melody was coming from her...she was the one making the music...Things flashed before her: a medal, a speech. Her head felt heavy. A wave of emotions both good and bad swept over the badger.

A troublemaking Dibbun wandering the ramparts stopped when he saw the strangest thing: a badger lying on the floor and rolling slightly, holding her head. Eventually, she fell unconscious. The infant squirrel blinked and stood there, wondering what type of silly thing he could do on a sleeping beast.

OOC: sounds good Sky! See ya!

BIC: Galli accepted the map and watched the badger wander away, concerned. Once Sky was out of sight, she turned her attention to the map, studying it. To her surprise, Loamhedge seemed to be quite a distance from their location. It would be quite a trip. The more she thought about it, the more excited she became at the thought of taking on such an adventure. It was her only lead to finding out anything about herself. She wondered how she came to be lost with no memories so far from the only thing that seemed familiar to her, and how both the badgers she'd met in the woods also had some connection to the place. Oh, that's right, what had happened to @Lord Ashenwyte ? She set off in search of him.

Ashenwyte had gone to the Kitchens, for he was famished. The badger, having eaten his fill and then some, walked out to the Orchard and under the shade of an apple tree, rested for a while, before going to the gatehouse, to get a map of some sort. On the way, he bumped into a mouse, whom he recognised to be one of the beasts he met at the Gates.
"I'm sorry! You are Galli, are you not?" He asked her.

BIC: "OH! Hey there, yeah, I'm Galli. You're Lord Ashenwyte right? Say, do you know anything about Loamhedge Abbey? Here, I can show you on this map..." She did her best to keep it unrolled and point at Loamhedge and show it to the badger all it once. She had quite a bit of trouble with it.

BIC: "Well, how can I refuse, wot?" The haremaid made a slight grin at the male fellow as a response and strode with him through the shore, feeling the soft sea breeze on her face. Her confidence soared little by little as she hummed a strangely familiar tune.

"Lai-de-lai de lai-de-lai-dai,
Rakkani dum lesfari rai,

When the second round of her bizarre song ended, she turned to the male fellow. "As far as my brains can remember, my name's Dotti. You're called Nenners, right? I've just come here t' this lovely beach, but I blinkin' don't know why."

OOC: I had something to do IRL.

BIC: Skyblade woke up with a splitting headache. Emitting a badger's growl, she rolled her head to see where she was.

Somehow, she had landed in an infirmary bed. A petite squirrel stood up from a stool, gazing at her concernedly.

"An Abbey sister found you unconscious on the ramparts." Her soothing voice made Skyblade want to drift back into sleep, but she resisted the urge. "You're okay now, though. Do you know why you fainted?"

"Ugh, my headache, though..." Skyblade paused, anticipating her stomach to hurt as well, but it was fine - although massively hungry. With another pause, she wondered why she would expect to have such pain. The squirrel went on, cutting off her introspections.

"That's normal. You will have to rest, though. You should be fine for the Summer Nameday Celebration tomorrow."

Skyblade blinked, her vision starting to blur again. "Huh?"

"You were knocked out for an entire day."

"My goodness..." Skyblade groaned. At least the strange sights and sounds had disappeared. But like clouds over the horizon, she could still sense them in her peripheral vision, and she had an ominous feeling that the storm was going to return soon. "Do you know where Galli and Ash are?"

"The other two travelers? I'm not sure. But I'm afraid you can't look for them; it is imperative that you get rest." With these words, the squirrel got up and tended to another patient, leaving Skyblade to her troubled thoughts.

BTW Sky I'm going off an assumption here but you did time skip us forward one day right? If not then I'll just change my post.

Sandpaw's throat was dry. Opening his eyes the rat shivered as he lay still upon his makeshift bed of grass and bird feathers. He was curled into a ball to try and maintain what body heat he had left, but the morning dew had drenched his fur leaving him cold and stiff. To reiterate this point Sandpaw sneezed his pink nose wrinkling up as he held back a second sniffle.
Sitting up Sandpaw shook what water he could from his fur stretching some life back into his limbs. "The shelter," He muttered looking over at the others who all rested as far away from each other as possible while remaining under the mess of branches and leaves they called a shelter. "Didn't work at all... But at least it didn't rain." And at least my throat hasn't been cut yet. He added silently to himself.

Galli peeked in through the infirmary doorway.
"Sky! Oh thank goodness, youre alri-" She tried to step in the room, but was intercepted by the squirrel.
"Now, now, I know youre excited to see your friend, but she needs rest. No visitors until she's had more time to recuperate." The abbeybeast shooed Galli out the door, who stuttered her way through an apology. The mouse gave Sky a wave and a sympathetic look before the door was shut in her face.
Well. That couldve gone better. Galli felt dumb for assuming she could just trounce into the infirmary any time she pleased. The squirrel had seemed a little intimidating. That just goes to show how easily she was intimidated. She shoved the embarrassment from her mind. After a moment, Galli decided to go tell @Lord Ashenwyte the news.
Or maybe she should stick around. How long does recuperation take? The packing still wasn't done either, and she really needed to work on that. Torn by indecision, she accomplished none of those things and just stood there, outside the infirmary.

BIC: "Thank you!" Skyblade called before the door was shut in Galli's face. Feeling drained, she plopped back onto her pillow. As she "rested", she looked over the map of Mossflower Country.

"Excuse me," she said to the (rather perturbed looking) squirrel. "How long would it take to get to Loamhedge Abbey? Also, is the journey dangerous?"

The squirrel raised an eyebrow. "Why do you ask? Also, this is a question for someone else."

Several minutes later, another squirrel - many seasons old - had come into the infirmary. "I imagine it would take weeks," he said, "And yes - there are many dangers. A giant cliff to cross, dark woods, a river, a gorge..."

When the squirrel left, he took a lot of Skyblade's hope with him. The badger lied on the bed, weighing her options.

"I don't care anymore," she murmured to herself. "I have a strong feeling - I don't know why, and I hate it! - that that place is connected to me. I need to go...probably take Galli and Ash with me. I need to find answers."

BIC: "Ashenwyte! Sky has finally woken up, but the squirrel in there won't let us see her." The squirrel in question suddenly opened the door, making Galli jump and scuttle out of the way for her, mumbling another apology. A few minutes later, the infirmary squirrel returned guiding an older squirrel, who gave them a disapproving look. Probably for loitering again. (Galli figured this must be one of the Abbey's seven deadly sins, since she got so many disgruntled stares as she stood around. Really, the cause of their disapprovement was the faint purple coloring of her fur, which the elders deemed unnatural and the Dibbuns were attempting to imitate using berries, and, just recently, the recorder's inkpot. Galli had so far been aware of the berries, which she thought was cute, but not of the ink. The poor inked Dibbun was currently getting a vigorous scrubbing in the Abbey pond.)

The travelers had arrived at the mountain just as the sun was setting. An older looking hare by the name of Jenkins S. Soleworth, had greeted them and told them that the Badger Lord would be unable to see them that night but that they could meet him in the morning. In the mean time they where shown to the mess where they participated in a rather rowdy meal. Faiyloe found it all quite fun but also rather overwhelming, for a long time she just sat and ate in silence. Nodding and giving polite responses of acknowledgment when she was spoken to. At the end of the meal she offered to help clear the table and she got to talking about the fine points of storytelling with a hare who she never caught the name of. They talked for several hours in the empty mess hall before she realized how late it was and was shown to a small room on the west side that overlooked the ocean.

Now it was morning and she didn't wan't to get out of bed, the blankets where warm, and there was still the lingerings of a dream that she wanted to hang on to for as long as possible.

Rolling over, she stood up and wiped the sand off of her fur. Wait, fur? This isn't normal. Is it? She started looking around to see where she was, and seeing she was alone she started running about in the hopes of finding someone to help her get her to safety. Wherever that was.

                                                                                 <[{}]>

After an hour of running, she came across a large mountain. With nowhere else to go, she started climbing.

OOC: Sorry for the ignorance to the books :P But is the door to salamandastron at the top or the bottom?

Amongst the creatures lying near Sandpaw, Groddil was nowhere to be seen. When Kitsune had returned with Wylder and the rat, the fox refused to work with him. As a result, he ignored the construction of the shelter and stole off into the woodlands once the others had fallen asleep. Now, as the sun was rising, Groddil chuckled. Once more, he was breakfasting on a fish, a fire burning into coals in one nook of the comfortable cave he had found. If he was to live in the woods, this was the place to do it! Seeing no reason to properly get up, the fox rearranged the rock pile in the cave's entrance, disguising the way in. He threw his last fish onto the fire and settled down for another nap.

OOC: Okay I'll try that :)

BIC: As she climbed, the hedgehog tried to remember anything she could about herself and her surroundings. All she remembered was a weird name, Rosie. Accepting that as her name until proven otherwise, she climbed higher, trying not to be noticed by anyone. She saw a window to a room she thought was empty, or at least the occupant was asleep. She jumped in looking around for anything to help her situation.

Faiyloe heard something at the window and then a thump of something coming in. She sat bolt upright and was faced with a strange hedghog climbing through her bedroom window. She leaped out of bed and ran out off the room slamming the door behind her. She felt the knob for a lock but didn't find any so instead she just held the door closed.

Rosie started when the otter ran out of the room looking frightened and startled. "Wait!" she called after in the hopes that the otter was still there "I don't mean you any harm, I thought this room was empty. I would never intrude on someone like that on purpose" She sat down on the floor, exhausted from the climb, and her mind started racing with what the otter must think of her, barging into her room in the middle of the night and she didn't even know her.

Faiyloe slowly opened the door a peered through. "Why where you climbing through any window at all? There is a door you know." She looked the hedge hog over and now that she got a better look she saw she was actually quite young. She didn't seem all that dangerous either. In fact she seemed almost familiar.

"Well, I didn't wan't to wake anyone up, and I wanted to get out of here as soon as I can" She got up and walked towards the otter to get a better look at her. She looked a few years older than herself but still friendly all the same. "Do you know what this place is called?"

"I'm okay, you?" Skyblade sat up, one paw on the map and the other on her head. "Galli, I've been thinking, and I decided to go find Loamhedge Abbey. I won't lie. It's a far and dangerous journey. But we have a map." With a deep breath, Skyblade went on, "I just don't know what other choice I have. I have a strong feeling Loamhedge Abbey can help us, and while feelings aren't reliable, this is my only hint. You can come with me or whatever you want, but I am going even if I have to do it myself."

It didn't take long for Sandpaw to notice that the fox Groddil wasn't sleeping with the others. If he remembered correctly he hadn't even aided with their endeavor to construct the shelter, he must have snuck off, either in shame or malice. Sandpaw didn't really care which. And he wasn't about to hang around here for the fox to work up his courage to kill them all.

Standing up Sandpaw shimmied over to the sleeping mouse and unbuckled the mouse's sword strapping it around his own waist. He had to loosen it a bit, but it fit all the same. Satisfied he hadn't woken anybeast up Sandpaw stole out from under the shelter, following the creek downstream.

His stomach growled uncomfortably as he padded on, so he snacked occasionally on berries that he found. He hadn't wanted to find Groddil at all, but his nose led him to Groddil's cave. He caught a tiny whiff of smoke, something his old nose would never have picked up... His old nose? Ridiculous he could always smell this well. He slunk along on all fours inhaling deeply as he traversed the forested landscape, his paws snapping twigs as he went. His sharp eyes soon spotted a slight fault in a pile of rocks, blocking what could only be a cave entrance.

Post by: The Skarzs on July 11, 2016, 06:51:22 PM
Skarzs had tried to stay out of the way and out of sight, but it wasn't easy when you were a creature three times the size of the mountain's occupants who seemed to be at every twist and turn. Obviously someone of his size was incredible to them, and he was asked constant questions. While he answered to the best of his abilities, he couldn't answer everything because of his hazy memory. Despite attempting to show that he meant no harm to any of them, Skarzs got the feeling he was more than a little intimidating to these hares, and caught wind of his name being passed down the line to the Badger Lord's ears.
So be it, the cougar thought. It doesn't matter what they thought if it wasn't true.
Picking his way through the caves, Skarzs found the room that had been prepared for him. It was larger than some of the others (much to his relief), and a bed of straw had been laid out on the ground, the actual bed being rather small for him. A pitcher of water was set on a small shelf next to a clay cup, and a candle was lit nearby. Closing the door, Skarzs laid down on the bedding and closed his eyes.
So. . . He was in Salamandastron, the home of the Badger Lords and the fighting hares of the Long Patrol, stationed on the sandy beach on the Western Ocean in the land known as Mossflower. How he came to be there he didn't know. His two companions Faiyloe and Dotti, who appeared to be in similar situations, were somehow connected. Neither of them were there at the moment to talk about it, Faiy having gone off to her room before him and Dotti doing who-knows-what, probably being treated like a queen by Nenners, who insisted that she was a "fatal beauty". . . Whatever that meant.
Ohh, the whole situation hurt, he thought to himself, rubbing his face. Perhaps tomorrow they could get some answers. . .

Faiyloe shook Rosie's paw but when she mentioned not remembering much Faiyloe started. "This is just getting weird..." She said rubbing her forehead "I'm here with a few others and none of us can seem to remember anything either... We where supposed to meet with the Badger Lord in the morning... I guess you can have the bed," She some how suddenly felt responsible for the young Hedgehog.

I havent asked Lord Ashenwyte yet, since, to be quite honest, the guy kinda scares me. Hes a little hard to talk to. I was gonna ask him though." Groddil began to twitch, shaking himself awake at the sound of countless breaking twigs outside. The fox grabbed his bow and notched an arrow to the string, peering through the crack in the rocks. The fox pulled the string back further, poking the tip of the arrow out the hole.
"WHAT are ya doin' here? Stop followin' me, ya evil little freak! I swear, ya take another step towards this cave and I'll fill ya corpse with so many arrows a hedgehog'll start callin' you momma!"

Glaring, and irritated his approach had been spotted Sandpaw stood on his hind legs. Of course, it was this jerk, Groddil. Sandpaw should have guessed who would be hiding in a cave, not far from their campsite. Holding up his paws as a sign on non-aggression the rat backed away, keeping his eyes locked on the arrowhead that was pointed at him.
"What's wrong with you buddy? Are you bipolar or something? I don't want anything to do with you, or any other crazy mice or foxes." Sandpaw jerked his head back in the direction of the shelter. "I've ditched the others, and look here I'm armed now too. So you better believe you can land that shot, or I'll come gut you on this sword." Sandpaw lowered his right paw and tapped the pommel of his captured sword. Short and built for a mouse it wasn't a great weapon, but it would do its work all the same.
"So just stay in your little cave, and I'll continue on my way and find the river. And hopefully we'll never meet again."
Title: Re: What's Happening?

"Oh, so ye stole the sword, didya? I told 'em not to trust you. Shame they never listened. I bet I'll go back there now, an' they'll have their throats cut. Maybee I should shoot ya. Even if I miss, I'll either have another arrow on me bowstring, or I'll have me own sword out. An' I ain't a thief, the beast that I took these from was jus' a skeleton. Go, then. I hope you drown!"
Groddil instinctively felt his weapon move, the arrowtip aiming straight for Sandpaw's heart.

"You're real pleasant, you know that. You'd get a award for most inhospitable fox ever." Sandpaw spat back, taking a long rout around the cave. He was careful to keep his eyes on the arrow, and never once turned his back towards the cave. After he had navigated around the entrance he walked backwards until he felt he was a safe distance away.
"Just stay in there, and, and, rot." Sandpaw shouted, waving his fist in Groddil's general direction. "If you see the others tell them I'm going North and east, alright. Thanks, jerk!" Spinning around the rodent stalked off grumbling under his breath. He stomped on, carelessly through the forest in a perpetual bad mood. He mostly followed the creek until it started sloping into a gorge driving him a little farther from the water. He of course had lied to Groddil, going in the opposite direction of where he said he had been going. Instead of his mentioned course of Northeast, Sandpaw continued to follow the creek, which was now more of a stream, Southwest.

The going was tough, and Sandpaw had to stop several times to dig thorns out of his footpaws. Because he was constantly brushing past bushes, loam, and tall grass his fur remained soaked through most of the morning and he felt himself starting to shiver as he trekked on. Sandpaw stopped for a break, rubbing his sore paws; his stomach gurgled in hunger. He'd need something more substantial then berries to eat before long.

After he was certain Sandpaw was gone, Groddil kicked aside some of the rocks and wiggled his way out of the cave. He didn't want to be alone with the rat in this neck of the woods. After running for quite a while, the fox eventually reached Wylder and Kitsune's campsite. He tried to shake  them awake, speaking in a loud whisper as he did.
"Guys, guys. It's the rat. He stole a sword off one of ya, an' said 'ee wanted ta kill us all. Ya have ta get up, come with me. I got a good shelter, better'n what he tried doin' with this heap a junk. Hurry up, wake up!"

Sandpaw's journey through the woodlands wasn't agreeing with him. Branches snagged at his clothing, twice his tail had been caught in rocks, he had resorted to carrying it over his shoulder like a rope. Brambles plagued him along with an persistent army of insects who buzzed in his ears and whiskers. Sandpaw stolidly carried on trying to ignore these discomforts. At least his stomach was full, he had discovered a nest of duck eggs, each one nearly as large as his head. Sandpaw had no way to cook the eggs and had resorted to eating them raw. It hadn't been that bad, they were in-fact rather good to a starving rat. That was until a furious mother duck arrived and chased him away from the nest.
Stumbling across a  section of slippery rocks Sandpaw's ears perked up. There was the sound of crashing water was just ahead. Trotting forward the last few pawsteps Sandpaw burst out of the trees on the banks of a wide river. The stream he had been following flowed down a small waterfall, joining with the river as he had suspected it would. Creeks led to streams, streams led to rivers, rivers led to settlements.

Stepping under the little waterfall Sandpaw let the water wash away the grime and dirt that had collected on his fur. He'd just need to follow the river now, up or downstream until it led to a settlement. Hopefully sooner, then later.

Groddil's ears drooped, as neither of the others were waking up. He quickly scrawled out a message, clearly blaming Sandpaw, with a piece of charcoal from the burnt out fire. Finally, the fox trudged off back to his cave and breakfasted on the final fish. He would get more food later, but now he needed to reinforce the cave's defenses, just in case Sandpaw came back...

Skarzs woke gradually, seeing it was still dark but not feeling like sleeping any more. Ugh. . . What time is it? There was no window in the room he slept in, and since he had extinguished his candle before he went to sleep, it was pitch black save for the thin line of light around the edge of the door. Getting up and knocking his paws painfully against the stone ceiling as he stretched, the cougar stumbled to the door and opened it.
Candle and sun light pierced Skarzs' vision, and he rubbed his eyes to try to help them adjust (not that it really worked). Not far off there was a window that allowed sunlight in, and when he got to it, Skarzs found that it was probably an hour or so after sunrise. Far below on the sand, hares were moving about like ants upon a picnic cloth, probably doing some form of exercise.
Not a bad idea, Skarzs thought. But not right now. He massaged his sore legs. First off, he needed some food. Perhaps he would see his companions in the mess hall.

OOC: I was thinking we were east of Redwall, my character has just traveled southwest and reached Broadstream. Of course I do believe Groddil and I are the only active participants of Group 2, so if you'd like us to meet up with ya'll we could arrange that.

IC:

The next morning on the banks of the newly found river was much more pleasant for Sandpaw. He'd discovered a healthy collection of edible plants and fruit which he cut free with his short sword. Making a sort of salad for breakfast he soon built up a little fire, while resting in the shade of a willow tree.
Life was certainly looking up since he broke company with the crazy creatures.

Sandpaw spent a lazy morning napping in the sun, when he was woken by the press of icy steel against his throat. His eyes popping open Sandpaw jerked instinctively instantly regretting it. The rapier blade held close to his neck left a small cut which bled freely. He was surrounded by small spiky furred creatures who looked angry. Very angry.

"Looks like we caught ourselves a rat-thief mates!" Cried the one holding the rapier. The others pressed in arguing amongst each other. They wore brightly colored headbands and kilts, and it seemed the majority were armed. There couldn't have been more then ten of them, but they looked dangerous. Sandpaw suddenly realized their species, the name having sat at the tip of his tongue.
Shrews!

"Cut 'Is throat out Biggo." Shouted one.

"No idiot, question 'Im first, figure out where 'Is mates are hidin'!" Yelled another.

"Sorry," Sandpaw gasped trying to suck in his throat to pull away from the blade's razor edge. "What did I steal?"

"Don' play dumb rat, ye an' yer water rat friends stole a logboat from th' Guosssim. So ye did." Growled Biggo, "An' ye will tell us where yer mates are, an' maybe we'll let ye live."

"I bet'cha he stole this sword too," Crowed another shrew holding Sandpaw's short sword. Ironically stolen only a day ago. "Rats' don' usually carry good steal like this n'."

"I didn't," Sandpaw insisted his paw shaking. "I don't know any water rats."

"Liar!"

"Prick his paws, that'll make 'Im talk!"

"C'mon spill, where's yer friends? An' where are ye hidin' th' logboat?"

"I don't know!" Sandpaw yelled as the rapier blade slid down his arm leaving a red trail of blood. "I don't know anything , please stop!"

"Stop lying rat, it isn't going to get ye anyw- Aaagh!" The shrew convulsed, an arrow through his chest. Blood splattered into Sandpaw's eyes. Screams, shouts, and battle cries roared as blades clashed and spears cracked against stone. Unable to see, and trapped under the shrew's body Sandpaw covered his head, waiting for the battle conclusion, hoping nobeast killed him while he lay helpless.

Cough! Cough! Cough!

Out of the blue, a few pieces of spare down feathers mixed with dust fell down on the sleeping haremaid's mouth, causing her to choke and sputter them out, therefore stirring her awake. Rubbing her groggy eyes, she was confused and awed at the same time as she looked around the room. It was warm and cozy, though with the absence of the candle's flame, darkness eluded her from full view.

The last night before was at least an uneventful, though relieving, one - she was welcomed to the "lodging place" called Salamandastron and was treated to the sumptous fare: warm honey porridge complete with Strawberry Cordial. She felt so drowsy after that meal that one of the older female hares had to escort her to the room where she was now.

Only one tiny ray of light streamed from the almost-closed door. With new curiosity streaming from inside, Dotti rose up with shaking footpaws and pushed the door, which opened a bit spilling more rays of growing morning light. She gave in to temptation to explore outside, though part of her mind was pleading her otherwise. Her footpaws touched a flight of stairs, walking down gently like a proper lady. Galli's pack clanged against her back as she ran ahead. At one point it over balanced her and she nearly fell over. She'd overpacked. It seemed to her like a thing she was prone to do. She slowed down. Actually, she definitely did. She could almost remember it... A whole mess of conflicting and impossible memories rushed in at once, her vision blacked out and she fell.

OOC: I'd like Group 1 and 2 to meet up in a bit, then!

BIC: As the trio went through the woods, Skyblade fell back into deep thought - even though she didn't really want to.

It just didn't make any sense. She had no memories, even though it was clear she'd spent a good amount of time alive. And what had knocked her out the other day? What was the meaning of that music, which she had been making through a pipe, and what were those other hazy images?

I am someone, she thought, But I just don't know who.

Skyblade gasped as Galli collapsed. "Galli? Galli, you okay?" Rushing forward, the badger looked around for trouble and then at her. "Ah, what's going on?"

OOC: Feel free to RP new things, NPCs and the environment! I welcome ideas to make the RP better.

The mouse hadnt lost consciousness, just balance. Shaking her head, Galli sat up, looking around in a daze.
"Ah geez. Holy wow that was weird. I just- hng...... lost reality for a second there? It was like my memories were coming back but... none of it made sense. It was all wrong, all messed up. But it seemed so real? I can hardly remember any of it now though." She tried to st and, still a little dizzy. Her overstuffed pack made her fall over again. "Oof. Ah, a little help?"

OOC: something like this actually happened to me once!! I stood up from reading too quickly, almost passed out, and reality just completely warped. I was disappointed with the real reality once I "came to". ;D

"Psh nah. We need all this stuff." A rather sizable rock fell out of her pack. She hurried to pick it up, but her pack tipped her over again. Galli stared sadly at the rock. "A Dibbun gave me that..." She said sheepishly.

There was the sound of grunting and Sandpaw felt the shrew being pushed off him. Rough paws soon were pulling him across the mossy riverbank, Sandpaw could hear the river coming closer. Panicking he kicked and flailed unable to see due to the blood on his face; Sandpaw had never felt more helpless then in whoever's paws he was in now. His face was pressed down into the water and a paw dug into his fur holding him still. Sandpaw sent up a stream of bubbles as he struggled to holds his breath upside-down underwater. His nose burned as the paws suddenly jerked upward and Sandpaw found himself spluttering on the riverbank, and he was able to open his eyes.

Giant rats, the biggest being easily two times Sandpaw's size loitered on the rocks stripping the Guosssim shrews of their weapons and equipment. Of the ten that had captured Sandpaw, none had survived, but they hadn't gone down easy and six rats lay amongst the dead, being equally ravaged by their living companions.

The rat that had washed Sandpaw's face clean of the blood glared down at the smaller rodent, a cruel smirk on his face. "Har, lookit muckers, we got'a livin' runty. C'n we keep 'Im boss?"

"No!" Shouted the biggest rat, who slogged over; freshly decorated with shrew swords and headbands. "We'a go. Th' half-mice will'a kill 'Im fer us." That seemed to settle the matter, and the massive rodents left Sandpaw, still gasping and spitting up water, as they charged towards the river and slipping into the water paddling powerfully upstream.

Faiyloe woke up slowly and looked around the room. She started when she noticed that Rosie was gone. She leapt out of bed in alarm and ran to the door. She was going to get herself lost or in trouble, none of the hare's knew she was here. Faiy made her way down the halls to the dining hall in search of the young hedgehog. She found Skarz's instead.

"Hey, have you seen a Hedgehog, about this tall," She said holding up her paw to show how tall Rosie was.

Maybe Faiy was beginning to remember some things, the cougar thought. Though, if she was asking if he had seen the hedgehog. . . He wasn't sure. He certainly would never have seen them before; they had only arrived last night, Faiy included. So if she had met the hedgehog the night before, it would have been after she had left to her room. Fatch was fast asleep under a nearby oaktree, when a rock flew from the path and hit him directly in the head.

He jumped up yelling: "Attack attack! We're under siege! Someone's throwing rocks from the sky!"

He stopped when he suddenly looked down to realize that his hands were the hands of a mouse. He touched his face, with the hands that were surely not his.

To his shock he was touching the nose, face and ears of a mouse. He was a mouse, there was no denying it. How had this strange thing occurred? He looked up towards the direction the small lump on his head was tilted towards, and saw several other woodland creatures. Perhaps they could help him...?

Fatch, swayed slightly. Then smiled with some effort.

"Nearly knocked my head clean off with that one. Hurts like crazy! Who are you, and why are you chucking rocks at innocent creatures?"

"You say you were a...human?" The word rung in Skyblade's head, and the badger shuddered. "Well, I'm afraid I have no idea what happened to you...but we are in a similar situation." She paused, wondering whether to tell this stranger the reality of thie group's presence. "Anyway, I'm Skyblade, this is Galli, and this is Ash. Do you at least know your name? Do you know anything?"

Seeing Faiyloe walk towards the cougar with extreme confidence puzzled Rosie immensely. But when they started talking together like good friends, Rosie was put in a dilemma on whether to trust the cougar more, or trust Faiyloe less. Her choice was made about Faiyloe, but she still didn't trust the cougar enough so that when she saw him point strait at her she ducked deeper under the table.

Galli hung back, embarrassed and shy now that there was a new fellow she wasn't comfortable with. Once Fatch had mentioned being human, her skin felt clammy and she grew anxious. The impossiblity of everything overwhelmed her, and tears came to her eyes. She was quick to brush them away before anyone noticed. She fought the panic, and shoved the disturbance to the back of her mind.

Fatch shook his head.

"Oddly enough, that name rings a bell. I'm not sure exactly why. I'm quite sure I haven't been there."

At Ashenwyte's explanation, he smiled. "Well, as long as I'm stuck here, as a mouse, I might as well have some fun and excitement, eh? And if it is going to help, I'm with you all the way until we find our destination!" To emphasize his point, he made an awkward little gesturing motion with his fist, as though he was cheering someone on.

Galli, the one who had hit him over the head with the rock seemed to be a little upset. Fatch wasn't good with comforting people - the extent of his expressions of empathy generally was a pat on the back and: "it'll be ok, bro."

Suspecting this wasn't exactly going to solve the problem, and not desiring to upset her further, he instead pretended he hadn't noticed anything. Laughing, and getting through minor introductions and niceties instead.

Faiyloe smiled at Skarzses awkward attempts to be friendly. She then  pursed her lips and nodded thoughtfully. She knew Rosie was lying, she tried not to judge people and it was only a little fib, probably told to get them to like her, but if she was lying about stuff like this how could they trust her to tell the truth when things were more important.

"Right... Ok then, Let's just grab a plate then and then we can get to talking about our predicament, make a plan of action, all that," Faiyloe said as she started over to the food table. She wasn't all that hungry and only took a roll and some fruit.
Title: Re: What's Happening?

Rosie listened to Faiyloe's talk about planning as she walked away, but seeing as she already had food on her plate, she was unsure whether to follow her for the sake of company, or to stay at her seat and wait till she came back. Noticing how little Faiyloe seemed to trust her already, she went with her gut and stayed behind. Her gut seemed to have made the right choice for right as she sat back down again, her stomach grumbled loud enough that Skarzs-who was standing some feet away- probably heard it. Rosie blushed at the noise and started to scarf down her breakfast.

As if it wasn't awkward enough, Skarzs had to move two stools out of the way so that he sit on his knees on the ground, the table being much too low and the stools being much to small. He didn't hear Rosie's stomach growl because of the uproarious noise his own stomach made. He took the first thing that came to paw and began eating: A bowl full of oatmeal.
Skarzs knew he was already being watched by more than a few hares. The night before he had been crowded with them or dealing with glares of distrust or fear. Now he was just trying to ignore it, and he tried his best to eat politely. One thing he couldn't ignore was the particularly chubby hare sitting next to him who kept looking down at Skarzs' bowl and up at his face. Skarzs swallowed and looked at him.
  "You need something?"
"Well, big chap, as long as you can eat it all there's no sense saying much, wot, but did you have to take the whole bally serving bowl?"
Skarzs blinked. "S-serving bowl? I thought it was. . ." He compared the size of an empty bowl to the oatmeal bowl; there was definitely a size difference. "Er, sorry." He finished the oatmeal and started on some other food, knowing Faiy was probably very amused.

Faiyloe sat down next to Rosie across from Skarzs and watched him eat as she tried to hid her amused smile. She clapped her paws over her mouth to try and stifle it but failed as she continued to laugh uncontrollably.

Continuing along the river, after a short time to recover from the shock, Sandpaw discovered a dusty path running north and south. Naturally wanting to go south Sandpaw happily set off along the path, glad that something was finally looking up. His theory about civilization had been correct, it would take more then crazy foxes, rats, or shrews to build a proper path like this.

As he walked Sandpaw started to whistle a tune jauntily, though he couldn't remember where he'd heard it, or what its name was. It was oddly familiar, and fun to whistle so he kept it up, occasionally clicking his claws. Unbeknown to him he was whistling to the tune Yankee Doodle, and he was coming up behind a group of creatures also traveling south. Though he hadn't seen the travelers yet, they were sure to hear him.

OOC: Sorry for the delay Sky. He's coming up on Group 1.

"Let's rob the feast, Amadeus Thymepaw, y'ole gaffer!"

Dotti was struggling through the mass of hares to join Skarzs, Faiy and Rosie in their feast. She was trying to get to the table where the three feasted, just to challenge them to the contest called the scoffing competition. She scuttled to the table along with her newfound fellow called Amadeus Thymepaw and his mischievous gang. Facing the three, she greeted them, confidence evident in her face.

"Sorry for blinkin' lateness, chaps. May I challenge ye to the scoffing competition, wot? The one who can scoff all those vittles wins! Let's begin!"
With that, she began to demolish a plateful of scones and, in a short time, the plate was wiped clean save a few crumbs. Amadeus did the same a short distance away from her, snatching a pawful of vittles from other hares to wolf them down with great gusto.

The haremaid, having finished her last scone, glanced at Rosie with a smirk barely trying to stifle. "It's alright, ol' gel. Enjoy your feast!" Her smug grin rectified, but mingled with contempt as Amadeus snatched at an instant the hedgehog maid's plateful of vittles.

Dotti turned to him, scolding, "Don't blinkin' do that, that's bally too unrespectful for the guest." Her glance switched to the hedgehog. "Apologies, gel, that naughty ol' chap Amadeus has a nose for jolly trouble, wot?" She proceeded to gobble down an apple pie.

But before she could add more inquiry to the cougar, a whole wedge of apple pie was splashed up to the haremaid's face, knocking her flat. In a short time she rose up and found herself staring in contempt with Amadeus, owing to the blame of that pie obstacle hurl. As he hid, fairly badly, behind the fern he called to them urgently:

"For now, we should get out of sight. Who knows what dangers this forest path could hold?"

Skarzs feared the onslaught of a food fight from Dotti's companions, but the room quickly went quiet as an officer stepped into the room, saying in a commanding voice: "Silence in the ranks! Lord Keterus enters!"
All hares stood up and saluted as a badger entered the room, standing a whole head above the perked ears of his hares. He was broad-shouldered (like most badgers), but instead of being very thick, he appeared rather lean and fit, if the belt around his waist were to give any indication. A short red cape hung around his shoulders over an embroidered yellow tunic, and he wore nothing else aside from a dagger at his side.
Skarzs watched as he motioned for the crowd to be seated again, then beckoned to the officer, and they spoke in quiet tones for a moment before the hare pointed in the four companions' direction, and both of them walked directly toward them.
"I, uh, think the Badger Lord wants us," he said to Faiy, Dotti, and Rosie.

Rosie was hesitant to stand up for she did not think that the Badger Lord meant for her to even be in the mountain, so she sat right where she was and waited to see if a chance to join her group in following the badger opened up. One did in fact show itself as one of the hares sitting next to her accidentally kicked her off of her chair while trying to get up. With the wind knocked out of her she slowly got back up and thought that if the Badger Lord hadn't noticed her her yet, he sure would have now.

The arrival of the important guest made Dotti, Tirzah, Amadeus, and a few others freeze their food-fight and give their elegant salute as they could. Tirzah, who was slightly younger than her in appearance, motioned toward Dotti in a tiptoe fashion, careful not to distract the others.
"He's the Badger Lord of Salamandastron," she whispered to the older haremaid. "His name is Keterus."

"Keterus?" Dotti's ears perked up at the very mention of the name. "Like kettle? Sounds a bit of an old fashioned name, wot--"

"Shh! Keep your bally mouths shut, ol' gels!" Amadeus whispered. "Th'one with our sah is my jolly ol' uncle, I'm sure he notices us with prying eyes, wot!" And it turned out that he was right. Lord Keterus and the officer that was Amadeus' uncle began heading toward them.

There's nothing further for Dotti could do but stand up and observe the important guest as he walked toward her companions' direction. She was beginning to feel unsure what to give him anything regarding what she came from, except that she was lost and stranded on the lonely beach sometime ago. At least she was sure to greet the Badger Lord with grace.

OOC: I'll meet up with you Aim, we'll stumble across each other in the woodlands. Just keep in mind Skyblade left, so she'll have to vanish at some point.

IC:

Sandpaw had been walking for some time and was starting to get discouraged. The woodlands were as silent as a ghost, and the whispering winds did little to calm his frayed nerves. The rat hadn't eaten in some time, and as he walked his stomach growled reproachfully.

The sound of nearby voices broke the stillness and Sandpaw desperate for company of any kind stumbled through the underbrush towards them, trying to stay as quiet as possible. The last few creatures he had met were less then pleasant, it wouldn't due to rush into anything unknown. Still he was encouraged and pressed on. Creeping forward he approached a clearing where several figures were standing, conversing amongst themselves. Carefully Sandpaw inched closer trying to peer out from behind a tree. He had however misjudged the woodlands and his footpaw caught a hidden root sending him sprawling into the clearing where two badgers and two mice were standing.

"Uh heh," Sandpaw chuckled in embarrassment, slowly picking himself up. "Clumsy me, so um, how are ya'll doing?"

"Are you alright!" she said, a little too loudly.

"Im Galli, these are Ashe, Fatch and... Well...Sky was just here but... Sky!! SKYYYYY!!!" The badger was gone. Poof. Galli hadnt noticed her leaving.

Looking skyward Sandpaw slowly allowed his gaze to trail back to earth, staring in slight concern at the mouse Galli. "Are you looking for the... Sky?" It was only then that Sandpaw realized that one of the badgers was missing, almost like she had vanished completely. Understanding dawned on him, along with the sense that he should have been paying better attention. How did one lose sight of a badger?

"Should we be concerned?" Sandpaw asked, feeling his hackles rise. "Does she do this vanishing act often?"

"No yeah my friend Sky." She laughed nervously
"Im not sure? I feel like.... she's gone, but it's not a big deal, ya know? Its okay. She might come back." Galli glared at @Fatch of Southsward for being quiet so long and leaving her to deal with the stranger all on her own.

OOC: Apologies. I haven't checked this one because I assumed it would disappear along with SkyBlade.

BIC:

Fatch, annoyed to have not spotted such a clumsy creature approaching was not so trusting...

"Not a big deal? An entire badger disappears and it's 'not a big deal?' Did I miss something? Are you crazy? Awfully strange this rat shows up and Sky immediately vanishes, isn't it? I'll bet he made this happen! I say we cook him up for dinner. Some of us can forage for some water and vegetables and we can make some old fashioned 'rat 'n veggie' stew. I'm famished."

"Hey, hey, now wait a second mouse." Sandpaw yelped backing away from Fatch. It was only then that he remember his sword, and he grabbed the hilt defensively. "I'll draw this blade if I have to, and I had nothing to do with the sky vanishing! I'm a little concerned myself you know." Sandpaw fidgeted nervously, he wasn't entirely convinced that the mouse was bluffing about wanting to ear him. One could never be too sure out here.

Galli laughed, but it fizzled out as she realized they were serious.
"Whoa hey guys calm down. Fatch, you got here just before the rat did, theres no reason to think you werent behind Skyblades disappearance. But trust me, it's no big deal. Do you remember how we arent supposed to be here? Sky was having a hard time, I'm glad she got to go home. I don't know how, or why, but whatever. Maybe she'll come back. Our best bet, though, is getting to Loamhedge." Galli wasn't one to freak out over things. She couldn't do anything about it, anyway.

OOC: Sorry! I've been meaning to post for a while! I really want to finish this too.

BIC: Lord Keterus came right up to them, and Skarzs stood and bowed in respect, though after he found he was a full two heads taller than the badger, he wondered if it was more threatening than respectful.
"I told you he was bally big, sah," said the officer out of the side of his mouth. Skarzs sighed inwardly at the attention his size was getting him.
Keterus looked at the four for some time, seeming to ignore the hare at his side. It was as if he was remembering something as he saw them, and Skarzs began to feel somewhat uncomfortable at the thought, but at the same time, curious if he knew anything about them they didn't.  "Welcome to my mountain, friends," he said with a curt smile. "If you have eaten, I would like for you all to come with me."
Title: Re: What's Happening?

Dotti curtsied in front of the approaching Badger Lord, ignoring the doubting thoughts that kept racing in her brain. Her plain but pretty face translated the budding confidence as she smiled at him. "Well, good day, sah! I'm pretty new here in this jolly ol' place..."
About a few meters away from the haremaid were her two companions Amadeus and Tirzah, the former being stood up in a smart salute, while the latter being up to her secret gossip business with her fellows. The haremaid had diverted her attention away from them to focus on the important guest.

Upon hearing the badger's words of welcome and his request to come with him, Dotti couldn't help but being overwhelmed at the thought of being welcomed at the mountain. The feeling of shock stunned her for a while, then replaced by unbridled joy.

"Oh, thank ye, jolly good sah!" she shouted as she quickly strode into his side. "Oh well, I just came like a leveret and ye welcomed me here? Top hole, sah, wot!"

Standing shocked for a moment at Fatch's action, Sandpaw realized they were leaving him behind and hurried to catch up. The rat walked with Galli, making sure to keep the badger Ash, in-between him and Fatch. There was something definitely off with that mouse.
"I don't know," He said truthfully to Galli's question, keeping pace with her. "I kinda am, and always was if that makes any sense. I know this might sound crazy, but I feel I need to go somewhere, and preferably where there's no crazy foxes, or bloodthirsty mice. I've seen a few too many of those." He cast a meaningful glance towards Fatch.

"We're on a quest of our own, heading to Loamhedge tonmaybe get some answers. I dunno what Fatch is doing though, to be honest. We just met him." Galli glanced back at the other mouse. "He's following us, so I guess he is coming too." She shrugged. "What a merry band we make."

"Loamhedge," Sandpaw said the word slowly, it rang slightly, as if it was some obscure term he had heard before. "That sounds like as good a place as any to go, that is if we don't find anywhere better to stop first. Perhaps you'll consider me a part of ya'lls merry band?" He faked laughed encouragingly, stopping immediately when Ashenwyte spoke.

"Ah yes sir, thanks, I guess." He said on instinct to the much larger badger. "I'd hope that my kin aren't all bad, but, but you know us rats eh, troublemakers at heart. Heh heh, so um." He ambled along glancing around at the surrounding trees. "Do ya'll know where this Loamhedge is? We seem to be heading more or less southwest as far as I can tell..."

"No need for any formality here. Call me Ash, Sandpaw." Ashenwyte said, continuing "We have a map of Loamhedge, but I fear it may have become inaccurate with time. I did speak to the Abbey Gatekeeper, a venerable and very wise mole, who mentioned that a group of creatures, led by two travellers known as Sarobando and Bragoon, travelled there many seasons ago, so the journey's not impossible."

Faiyloe stood up but she didn't bow, she merely nodded in respect. As the badger lord analyzed them she looked him over, taking him all in, her fleeting glance scanning his face and then his cloaths, his large hands, and then back to his face. His large nose, striped face and dark eyes. Her eyes never staying in one place too long so as not to seem like she was staring. She evaluated him coming to a conclusion as to who he might be within the space of a few seconds but resolved to let him prove himself. She followed with a silence fueled by curiosity, not of where he was taking them or what he knew but of who he was.

"Not impossible," Sandpaw summarized with a slight sniff. "That's encouraging I suppose, I mean if these chumps Sarobando and Bragoon did it all that time ago, I see no reason why we couldn't." The rat walked in silence for a short time, kicking a pebble along the road. He looked up as a new thought came to him.
"Hey you don't suppose I could take a quick peek at that map maybe?" He suggested with a hopeful shrug. "I think I'm pretty good at path finding an' stuff. It wouldn't hurt nothin' even if I can't make heads nor tails of it." He gave his own tail a little swish, at the same time remembering it was there. He smiled contemplatively, it seemed almost useless, yet he couldn't imagine a world without it.

Galli dug around in her over filled pack. "Hmmm... yes! Heres the map, Sandpaw." She handed him her copy, and also pulled out a scone, munching on that happily as they walked. "Do ya h'want h'one?" She asked Sandpaw. "Thyere tasthy."

Surveying the map Sandpaw looked over the depicted landscape trying to pick out any land marks. "Ah thanks Galli, and yes I'd appreciate one. Thank you." Munching on the scone Sandpaw soon gave up on the map shaking his head. "I don't know where we are, I've got no orientation. Here's a river, I think we're close to that, this map is just to vague to make out any true landmarks. Except maybe these big cliffs here. But I don't see any big cliffs so... We could be here, or there, or even there."
Sandpaw shrugged, tapping the map as he walked, fully aware that he was the only one that could see it at the moment. He quickly brushed off the crumbs folding the map back up.
"Either way we've got quite a journey ahead of us, so maybe we ought to look for a good place to spend the night- Hold up what was that?"

Fatch, slightly unhappy to allow a rat to have access to the map, jumped into a fighting stance when he heard the noise. He shook his head, chiding himself inwardly. Never let a vermin into the group, things always go wrong when vermin are involved. No doubt the rest of Sandpaw's band was waiting just around the corner to pillage and murder them all.

A squeak sounded and a small rabbit tumbled out of the underbrush landing on her back, nose twitching in terror. Sandpaw who was walking upfront was closest to her and he flinched, hopping back a short ways. Seeing that it was hardly a threat to be scared of he knelt down, taking on a softer tone of voice.
"You surprised me there, are you lost? What's your name?" He asked, trying to hide the fact that he had been surprised. Sandpaw reached out a paw to help her to her footpaws but the rabbit squealed wriggling away from him.

"Don't eat me!" She sobbed looking past the rat towards the others. "Help me p-p-please."

Sandpaw snapped his paw away looking at the others in confusion. The rabbit curled into a little ball of white fur and was crying, rocking back and forth on the path. Standing Sandpaw backed away looking towards the three woodlanders in concern.

"I don't know what she means, I had nothing to do with anything." He said sounding defensive. "I swears it, I've never even seen her before."

The rabbit's shuddering sobs lessened somewhat and she wrapped her arms around Ashenwyte's neck burying her face into his shoulder to continue weeping. She couldn't have been more then ten or eleven seasons old, covered in patchy white fur, and dressed in a woodland smock of green and brown. Her tall ears drooped down the back of her head, and her green eyes, now hidden, were a watery bright green.
"D-Delilah," She managed between hiccups. "Delilah S-Summerfoot."

OOC: Alright, procrastination, you're not making me put this off any longer.

BIC: Skarzs followed directly behind Lord Keterus, walking out of the mess hall midst the curious eyes of the mountain hares, and through many corridors and halls. Where was the badger taking them? For that matter, why was he taking them there, and why were they just following without knowing?
". . . Excuse me," he said, "But where are we going?"
Keterus looked back at the cougar. "You will see. We're nearly there." They soon reached a large door at the end of the hall, and the officer opened it at the badger lord's request. They all went in, and found themselves stood in a huge cavern, the walls hung with all sorts of weapons and armor of magnificent make, and at its center was a forge and anvil.
A sudden shock lanced through Skarzs' mind as he recognized what the tools were, and he stopped in his tracks. They were familiar, not because he had seen them specifically before, but because of what they were meant for. He remembered the heat of a forge, he remembered what it was like to hit a hot piece of metal and turn it into something useful. But as he tried to reach deeper into his memories, he found that the knowledge of forging was all he could remember.
"I brought you here because this is one of the most private rooms in the mountain," Lord Keterus said as he walked around the room. "I have some things that I would like to tell you which may answer some of the questions you have."

OOC: I want him to mention something to each of us that will bring back some memory; obviously I already did mine. You can each do it yourself in your own post or PM something that is significant in your life that I can post.

Skarzs hardly heard the badger, seeing only the images in his mind. It made him angry and frustrated that he didn't know any more, but at the same time, feeling a sense of adventure he had never experienced before. He broke himself from his trance when Rosie spoke up.
"Huh? Hear what?" he asked, putting a paw to his ear. There was the sound of the ocean far below, some gulls calling, the muffled noises of hares in the halls, but other than that, nothing unusual. "I don't hear anything." He looked at the hedgehog, who was acting strangely. "Are you alright?"

". . . Maybe it's something you remember," said Skarzs. "Something stuck in your head?"
"I can't tell you all the answers because I don't know them," Lord Keterus said. "But I can tell you that there is peril ahead of you."
Skarzs was about to tell the badger just how ridiculous it sounded for him to try to frighten them when the other raised his paw.
"I know it's not much to go on, but you must listen to me. The badger lords of Salamandastron have always been able to have some insight to the near future, though it is often unclear, but it is never wrong. For me, I was given the knowledge that you would arrive on the same day, including you, Rosie," he looked at the hedgehog, then back to the others in turn. "I knew you would know very little about yourselves, and that time travelling would help you move forward in your lives. Now, I don't want to force anything on you, but I wanted to give what I had to you so you can make your own decisions."
Skarzs thought. So . . . travelling was supposed to help them? That was very. . . nonspecific. At the moment, he wasn't sure he wanted to, especially after spending the day before trekking through sand and wind and sun to a place they could rest.
"Well . . ." he said slowly, "I for one want to think about it."

Rosie started to feel queasy and quickly but quietly found a wall to lean on. The whole experience was too much for her to take in and her mind started moving faster than her body could handle. She tentatively raised her hand to catch Lord Keterus' attention, "Er, I don't mean to intrude but may I step out for a bit? This is... a lot to take in." She said, almost in a whisper. Though that was her usual voice, this time it was a bit weaker than usual.
