Title: Wildflower Inn OOC Discussion/Sign-Up
Post by: Mara the Wolf on October 31, 2020, 01:04:02 PM
RP for the Inn: http://redwallabbey.com/forum/index.php?topic=11892.0 (http://redwallabbey.com/forum/index.php?topic=11892.0)

Welcome, one and all! I'd like to try something I once saw over on Fanfiction's Redwall forums (unfortunately, said Wildflower Inn over there, as well as every single Redwall forum period, is dead.). Wildflower Inn is a place where you come in, post your character sheet(s), grab some grub, maybe a room, and go on quests! Yes, you read that right: QUESTS!

Essentially, anyone can post ideas for quests (or I might post one myself), we'll choose one (it has to get by me first, so make it sound interesting :P. If I like the sound of it, we'll put it to a vote.), and we'll start our epic (or maybe not-so-epic) adventure.

The Wildflower Inn is run by my Redwall fursonas, Masika the otter & Mara the wolf. Occasionally, they might join in on a quest too. (You can expect other OCs by me, I'm just saying my fursonas might occasionally join in.)

The only rules are:

  • No lemons.
  • No godmoding.
  • No powerplaying.
  • Keep your characters balanced. No Neos (The Matrix).
  • No guns or modern technology beyond field surgery. I love The Urthblood Cycle, but seriously, no guns.
  • No magic. Seers are ok.
  • Redwall races only. No humans, elves, dwarves, hobbits, goblins, orcs, dragons, etc. You want those, head to a Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Inheritance, or How to Train Your Dragon forum (not that I have a problem with thoses fandoms, just...not here, guys.)
  • You have to submit a character's character sheet over here first. If they break rules 4-7, they're not allowed.
  • You are allowed to submit OCs written for a fanfiction, Redwall Survivor, Redwall Survivor Mini-Contests, other RPs, etc., so long as they follow the rules.
  • Once you've made/submitted your character(s), send 'em over to Wildflower Inn. That's where your characters form parties & sign up for quests, after all.
  • You can submit characters from other fandoms (The Rats of NIMH / The Secret of NIMH, Watership Down, Tailchaser's Song, Welkin Weasels, Silverwing, Varjak Paw, Warriors, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, and The Mistmantle Chronicles), so long as they still manage to fit Redwall canon. What does that mean? Well, for example, in Welkin Weasels, stoats keep weasels as near-slaves, at least until Sylver and his gang win their freedom. Or in Watership Down, rabbits have their own language. And in Watership Down and Tailchaser's Song, the rabbits and cats, respectively, have their own mythology. Just so long as it doesn't outright clash with Redwall - no references to real-world religions, and only the vaguest implications towards existence of humans. Also, Welkin Weasels features magic. If you make a magician, be sure to not make them too OP (Over-Powered) and make sure to point out it's from a fandom featuring magic - and I will check to make sure you're not lying.
So whaddaya say? Sounds fun?

I sort of already signed up for this before, so I guess I'm obliged to toss my hat in the ring now that it has manifested over here

I took the FF forum down, Grey. There's no obligation to sign up if you don't want to.

Already created characters are more than welcome, shisteer! I only ask we keep it to Redwall races - i.e., animals. No elves, humans, orcs, hobbits, goblins, dragons, etc., and no modern tech/weapons (i.e., guns, tanks, submarines, etc.). Taverns, ports, money, & surgery are ok.

One other thing: I asked Dannflower Reguba if this could have it's own sub-board. The answer:

QuoteI'd both advise and allow you to have one topic in the RP board dedicated to just stuff that happens in the Inn, and then making individual topics for each of the active quests.

Excellent!

So, I gather, until the first quest has started, we'll just have our characters lounging around in the inn, perhaps drinking, chatting and singing with each other, ordering food and generally enjoying themselves?
Another question: Goodbeast or vermin species? Does it really matter in this setting? (I mean, there can usually be exceptions, but, on a pirate island, the only goodbeasts likely to be in an inn are either slaves or beasts in disguise. Similar situation for an inn located in a Long Patrol outpost thing)

Yeah, pretty much.

QuoteAnother question: Goodbeast or vermin species? Does it really matter in this setting?
Doesn't matter shisteer. Lynxes, foxes, wolves, weasels, otters, badgers, hares, rabbits, sparrows, arctic foxes, wildcats, hamsters, mice, squirrels, wolverines, all are welcome here!

Quote(I mean, there can usually be exceptions, but, on a pirate island, the only goodbeasts likely to be in an inn are either slaves or beasts in disguise. Similar situation for an inn located in a Long Patrol outpost thing)
Wildflower Inn is located in the northwest coast of the Northlands (some miles north of the caves Martin the Warrior originally lived in), but don't limit yourself to certain species. Make whatever you want!

Anyways, here's the gals who run the Inn!

Name: Masika

Gender: Female

Species: Otter

Age: Mid-twenties

Appearance: Pretty much a bipedal Eurasian otter in a brown tunic & belt.

Personality: Sweet and playful, if just a tad impatient/snarky (mostly with Mara, though). She's got a kind spirit, but don't make her mad! Loves kids (most of the time). The (slightly) more in-charge one.

Weapons: An oak staff and bow.

Name: Mara

Gender: Female

Species: Wolf

Age: Mid-twenties. Slightly younger than Masika.

Appearance: A big black wolf with yellow eyes dressed in a black tunic & belt.

Personality: Mara's more snarky than Masika, but she's otherwise pretty nice. A tad lazy (but only concerning cleaning!). Not someone you want to mess with, either.

Weapons: A simple hand-and-a-half sword & a bow.

And here's my favorite Redwall OCs.
Spoiler
Name: Maut (pronounced "Maht"; Matt, but with an "ah" in the middle)

Gender: Male

Species: Silver Fox (That's a red fox with melanism, fyi)

Age: 28

Appearance: Maut is a fairly average fox in terms of build. He has silver fur with black ears, tail tip, and face, and golden eyes. He wears a simple light-black tunic with a belt.

Personality: Maut is typically friendly, until you give him reason to be otherwise. He's a bit confident in himself, but he ain't a braggart. He's clever, knowing many skills, as he's mercenary - he'll take almost any job that comes his way. He can be a bit of a flirt with vixens, but he knows when to back off. Maut's best friend is Veach, and threatening and/or harming Veach is a surefire way to get on Maut's bad side. He hates it when people mispronounces his name.

History: Little is known of Maut's past. This fox has been working as a mercenary since he was 14-16. He's actually got something of a reputation in his hometown as a skilled mercenary and spy. He's taken many jobs that have had him all over Mossflower, and even a few in the Northlands. While he does have a home back in his little village, Maut mainly stays there when he has no jobs; most times, once he's finished one job, he'll look for another wherever he's currently at.

Weapons: A broadsword & a bow and arrow.

Skills: Maut's very good at sneaking around at night and in the shadows, thanks to his silver-and-black fur. He's also well-prepared, like remembering to bring snout-kerchiefs when traversing through Flitchaye territory. He knows most of Mossflower like the back of his paw, given he's been through most of it.
[close]

Spoiler
Name: Veach

Gender: Male

Species: Stoat

Age: unknown

Appearance: Veach looks like a normal stoat. He wears only red bandana around his neck and nothing else. Unlike everyone else, Veach walks on all fours and only walks on his hind legs when he's holding something.

Personality: Veach is pretty much like a dog - he's loyal to Maut. Despite being very animalistic in nature, Veach can understand what others are saying, and can even understand when someone's shortchanging or planning to betray/backstab Maut.

History: unknown

Other: Veach fights the same way a real stoat would - jumping on his victims and biting their throats.

Ah, see. Gotcha, gotcha.

Spoiler

Name: Nitsyok Sagnarb

Age: 18 seasons.

Gender: Male.

Species: Otter.

Build: Tall and heavy.

Weapons: Sling, decent sized knife.

Personality: The young otter is naturally rather impetuous, though his extensive training helps to keep his quick temper under control, most of the time. He has a strong sense of right and wrong and will not let evil go unpunished. Often a tad overconfident, he values the family and friends who will pull him up when he starts leaning too far off the edge.

History: Nitsyok, as the son of the Sagnarbian Holt, joined the otter crew when he was twelve seasons old, ready to learn all that he could about leadership, honour and the craft of battle. He has taken the vow of the warrior to fight evil and defend the weak no matter the cost. He has had many tutors over the seasons and has done his best to take their teaching to heart, though his youth and hotheadedness still comes out from time to time. He hasn't been in any major battles yet, mostly just taking down small vermin bands, but he's competent with the weapons he wields.

Appearance: Dark brown fur with tan markings. Brown eyes, solid jaw and large paws. Wears a dark red tunic. A matching red bandana on his head and a single gold ring on his left ear.

Name: Harlapple, but he prefers more brutal sounding and vicious sounding ones like 'Jax the Impaler' or 'Bloodspear' and what will you.

Gender: Male

Species: Mouse

Age: Sixteen seasons

Personality: Throw in the political saviness, quick-wit, and charming mannerisms of a well-bred gentlemammal, and mix it in with sadistic glee, cold cunning and ambitions far bigger than he is and you have a Harlapple. He can be charming and pleasant when he wants to be, but has to force himself to do so and can come off as a bit uptight and fancy. He isn't really good at understanding social ques and faux pas and this can lead to many awkward moments. He has a bit of a temper but will not do anything unless he is in a position of superiority. Harlapple is going on quests in order to build up his reputation and generally will do anything in order to succeed in them. Including morally questionable things because Harlapple long since baked his morals into a cake and burned them to ashes.

Appearance: Harlapple is a small, brown mouse with the usual pink tail, paws and feetpaws. He's a bit shorter than the average mouse (perhaps fueling his napoleonic complex) but carries himself as if he were as physically imposing as a badgerlord in their prime. He wears a long red cape, which he would trip over if he weren't as dignified a warlord as he is, and has a small spike attached to the end of his tail to better resemble his idol, Cluny the Scourge.

Weapons: Aside from his tail spike, Harl keeps a small knife on his belt just in case of emergencies, and a double-headed axe he has no business wielding (as it is almost as large as him). He is surpisingly competent as a fighter, despite his lack of formal training, but prefers to work in the intellectual department because, as a mouse, he lacks the physique necessary to outfight most opponents.

History: I don't think it's important because Harl would never talk about it and he's too young to have much of a reputation.

@shisteer of nothing much @The Grey Coincidence @Jarky Thistlebrush

Once you've made/submitted an OC, send 'em over to the Wildflower Inn. That is, after all, where everyone can form parties and sign up for quests. I mean, that's what it exists for. So, go introduce your characters over there, have 'em meet up with at least Masika & Mara. They're guildmasters/Innkeepers, after all!

Another OC of mine, this one made for a Teenycontest earlier this year on Redwall Survivor:

Spoiler
Name: Nyika

Age: 16 seasons

Gender: Female

Species: Wildcat

Appearance: A brown wildcat with black stripes and brown eyes. Wears a simple green tunic.
Personality: Nyika longs for adventure, and there's no better place than the Wildflower Inn. She's one clever kitty, but she prefers to be in thick of the action. She's willing to work in groups or alone. This cat is more than happy to do anything she's hired to do, as she's never been anywhere except her hometown of Karravale and to Wildflower Inn on delivery runs. She fancies herself a seafarer, though she's never been on a ship (except to help unload them).

Skills: Nyika's skilled at fishing & weaponsmithing.

Strengths: Nyika, being a cat, and thus one of the larger species, is strong. She's also quick on her feet. She's also good at traps (battle, not hunting).

Weapons: A hand-and-a-half sword, a dagger, and an oak staff.

History: Karravale is place where all the mammalian & avian races have learned to live in harmony generations ago, so Nyika grew up educated (or as educated as Redwallian species tend to be), and longing for some life of adventure. She'd often go the stream in the woods just beyond the farmlands surrounding Karravale, and she quickly learned from the local otters how to net freshwater fish. At the age of 14, Dorian, the local weaponsmith, and a badger, took her as his apprentice and taught her not only how to craft weapons, but also taught her how to fight with a sword and staff. Occasionally, Nyika would take days off whenever the seafaring beasts came into port and help unload the ships. She's been as far as Wildflower Inn (which is a week from Karravale), just for delivery runs, but now she's hoping to become a warrior herself.

Well, I imagine the Northlands are rather cold, given that it's probably based on Scotland (not that I know Scottish climate). But, I'd say slightly windy, just a bit chilly (but then, they're animals; most of 'em have fur and grow winter coats in the fall ::)). As for season, I'd say summer. Oh, and evening (yes, summer evenings can be chilly. Trust me. If I want to take walks in summer, I generally have to wait till 5PM, and trust me, in a couple hours, it'll be chil~ly.)

What's the layout of the inn?
Title: Re: Wildflower Inn OOC Discussion/Sign-Up
Post by: Mara the Wolf on November 02, 2020, 01:27:33 AM
It's fairly big (I'm guessing here, as I'm bad with measurements), I'd say it's 50 sq. ft. On the left side is the counter/bar, with about 6 barstools, and the kitchen's through a door behind the counter labeled with an "Employees Only" sign, and a 2-beast-wide staircase leading to the second floor, where all the bedrooms are located, is in furthmost left corner. On the right side is 6-8 round wooden tables, each capable of seating up to eight beasts. There's a window on each side of the front door, one in the furthermost right corner, and one by the foot of the stairs. At the top of the stairs are 8 common bedrooms (you have to share them with other beasts), and in front of the top of the stairs is Masika & Mara's room, labeled with an "Employees Only" sign, just like the kitchen door, and a small janitor's closet.

Right, sounds good. What does the wall opposite the door look like? (I'm imagining it has a fireplace, some pictures either side of it, maybe an old, framed map or something)

Also, how is it lit, primarily? Obviously during the day the windows would provide quite a bit of light, but I gather this is evening. Are there lanterns hanging from the beams, candles, torches, what?
Title: Re: Wildflower Inn OOC Discussion/Sign-Up
Post by: Mara the Wolf on November 02, 2020, 02:14:11 AM
There's a bulletin board with quests right of the window near the staircase, and to the right of that is a fireplace with an old, framed map next to it, just like you described.

As for lighting, candles in bowls on the tables, with a big wheel in the center hanging from the ceiling with candles at the end of each spoke, and a few lanterns on the wall. The bedrooms each have one window, and a lantern for night-light.

Hey Masika, hope things are going well. I just stopped by to mention real quick that we prefer that people avoid double posting in most circumstances. If you've got some new things to say, there is a "modify" button above and to the right of your post. Best of luck with your Inn!

As I said to shisteer, already existing OCs are allowed, so long as they follow the rules (no guns/modern tech besides surgery, no magic, no fantasy races like elves, dwarves, dragons, etc.)

Hah! Apparently you forgot your own description of him, Grey:
QuoteA horrific creature dropped down from the foliage above. A black mask of fur lay over wide, curious eyes that stared down at the mouse. It's tail and arms were bare, muscular and lined with a few stray strands of fur. It wore a skirt of feathers and carried a jagged spear in one paw.
Practically naked arms & tail on a weasel-ferret hybrid? Sounds ugly to me!

Probably going to launch myself into the RP proper now. Just need to know is the Inn in the middle of nowhere? In some town? Where exactly is it located?

It's on the (left) side of a dirt road, with a forest about...30 ft. behind it.

@The Grey Coincidence
Quote"And I think you'll find yourself not richly dressed enough to refer to anybeast as a scamp."
What does Harlapple thinks scamp means? Because scamp means, "a person, especially a child, who is mischievous in a likable or amusing way."

A wicked or worthless person. Like a beggar. A quick google search shows me that is the West Indian definition as opposed to the common one though. It's what I usually think scamp means. I'll change the line anyways so that the scene flows better.

Name: Trihl is his name, but all his crew mates called him Roughtail, based on the sorry state of his tail which was shredded by the barbed tail of another rat a long time ago.  While the tail healed over time, the scares (both physical and mental) never fully disappeared.

Gender: Male

Species: Rat

Age: 18 Seasons

Personality:  Fidgety and uncertain when in the presence of superior officers.  Personality can swing between being upbeat and jolly or snide and sarcastic when around his friends and messmates or junior officers who he is comfortable around.  Frightens easily and looks to his superior officers for orders on what to do.  Not extremely brave or good at fighting, but can hold his own in battle.  Thinks of woodlanders as extremely good fighters and is weary of them, seeks reassurance and strength in numbers with other vermin.  His sea-rat life style has desensitized him to violence and when he is in uncertain situations he is quick to resort to violence.  He is very good at hiding his fears, he had to be to survive aboard the Bloodyscab.  He has some limited knowledge and experience with wood working and was often tasked with helping to repair his captain's vessel after it'd been damaged.  Growing up as a sea-rat has left him with a variety of skills, not least of which his ability to hold alc.

Appearance:  A stout, average sized rat with dark brown fur.  He normally wears a dull red coat over his grey tunic.  He's often found with a bottle of seaweed grog or October Ale if he can get his hands on any.  His tail is cut and scared all over from a past conflict.  He always has his scimitar strapped to his side, however he prefers to use a ranged weapon such as a crossbow whenever possible.

Weapons: A scimitar held to his side by a sheath and a crossbow which he hangs from his shoulder on a shoulder strap.

History: He was conscripted as a sea-rat into the crew of Captain Toothsbane when he was but a kit, it was that or his life.  Until recently he had been aboard the Bloodyscab and was sailing to land to hopefully reap plunder and glory, but during a nasty storm he had been thrown overboard from the rigging.  He barely made it to shore with his life.

Ta-da.
Spoiler
Name: Fern
Age: 17 seasons
Gender: female
Species: wildcat
Appearance: Fern is not quite fully grown and would be fairly small for a wildcat even if she were. Her long tail is white-tipped and has dark brown rings along it. The white fur on her throat extends up over her chin. The rest of her fur is grey-brown with dark markings and her white whiskers are long and stiff. She has green eyes, a pink nose and wears a green tunic under a grey-green cloak. A plain-hilted dagger is worn on a woven leather belt, in front of her sabre sheath.
Personality: Fern is generally impatient and taciturn, except around those she knows and likes well. She enjoys playing with young ones, unless they are particularly whiny or disobedient. She is an introvert and is perpetually confused by her companion's constant need for social interaction. Slightly paradoxically, her Primary Love Language is Quality Time.
History: N/A
Weapons: longbow, sabre, and dagger.
Fern ref. Pic.

Name: Mayla Birch
Age: 22 seasons
Gender: female
Species: wildcat
Appearance: Mayla is fairly tall; slim but broad-shouldered. Her ringed tail is long and expressive. She has large, highly movable ears. In winter her fur is snowy white with pale brown markings and very fluffy. Her summer coat, however, is darker and sleek. Her eyes are odd colours; the left one being a startling blue, the other dark brown. When her fur is white she wears a pair of small silver earrings. She swaps these for an identical pair of gold ones when her fur is brown. She always wears a mauve tunic and dark green cloak.
Personality: Very optimistic, bubbly and bouncey. She is a complete extrovert and enjoys talking. She is very high-energy but needs a decent night's sleep. Her Primary Love Language is Words of Affirmation.
History: Mostly not applicable. She has known Fern for about a season, and they have been wandering the countryside together.
Weapons: a quarterstaff that has had both ends sharpened and hardened in a fire and a dagger.

Spoiler

Name: Isaac Farran Larkington the Fourth
Age: Mid-twenties
Gender: Male
Species: Fox
Appearance: Small black-and-grey dappled fox with perfectly groomed fur and perfume all over his poofy tail (which he prides himself on). Both ears are white along with his belly fur, a patch around his left eye and his paws. He has hazel eyes. He usually wears a red velvet jacket with a plain white shirt underneath, along with a fancy purple cloak, a violet sash and those puffy red pants. (You know?) He is also extremely short.
Personality: A posh dandy. He considers himself very civilized. He's a bit of a coward, although he doesn't like to show it, and is quite intelligent with a good mind for strategy. He has a sort of terror of young ones. He is also a gossip and can sometimes be slightly evil.
History: Isaac was a minor noble far, far south until he was around twenty, when his family was overthrown. He has a bit of a sore spot/ disdain for some species because of this. A little later, he and his family were living in a cave. They had a major argument and Isaac ran away north to prove himself.
Weapons: An elegant longsword tucked into his sash and an assortment of small daggers concealed in his sleeves.
Accessories: Round glasses, a black cane and a black top hat.

Alrighty,  more characters from me:

Spoiler

Name: Faumyan
Age: 23 seasons
Gender: Male
Species: Otter
Build: Broad shouldered and bulky, but on the shorter side of average as far as height goes.
Weapons: A long quarterstaff and a dirk.
Personality: Rather gruff on first acquaintance but, with beasts he knows well, his sense of humour shows itself in a booming laugh and sparkling eyes. He's usually not the most talkative of beasts, preferring to listen before he puts his two cents in, but he isn't entirely devoid of ideas.
History: Grew up in Holt Sagnarb with his twin brother. Their parents disappeared when they were eight seasons old and they were raised in the Chief's family, acting big brother for Nitsyok. They joined the crew at twelve seasons, as was custom. They're not the best fighters, but they're far from incompetent and they usually follow Nitsyok around, making sure he doesn't get into too much trouble.
Appearance: Dark furred, with grey-green eyes and a chilling glare. He's the perfect beast to bar a doorway. He wears a woven flax bracelet and a simple green tunic, with a wide belt. A floppy hat of the same colour as his tunic perches atop his head.

Spoiler

Name: Romyan
Age: 23 seasons

Weapons: A light sabre and a bow.
Personality: Rather talkative, but not altogether gregarious. He appreciates a good laugh and generally acts as a spokesbeast for the two brothers. Not disinclined to tease, but he tries to choose the right time to do it.

@WorshipTiria
Um, I know I said "everyone, bring your OCs in," but you could stand to flesh out your character more. There's practically nothing there, practically no real personality, no flaws, no history (even if there's nothing interesting or her past is meant to be a mystery), which, given you've neglected personality, is a must given that there's practically nothing to work with. The other OCs can't see the character sheets, so there's no point in holding anything back. I know we don't always know an OC's personality until we've RPed with them a bit, but still.

@WorshipTiria
Quote from: WorshipTiria on November 12, 2020, 01:51:55 AM
She throws 6 punches, all of which connect.

"You do not speak like that to me. Now, do you want more soup ( angrily )?"

This is powerplaying.
QuotePowerplaying, or PPing, is when you take control of someone else's character. Say, you kill them or injure them without giving the owner of the character time to react, or you move the character around. If the owner of the character has said that it's okay to do something, then by all means go ahead – Just get permission first! Even if they say no you two can probably work out a way to enact the plan in your head.

Got another character. I probably won't bring her in until a little later on- you'll see why soon.
Spoiler

Name: Kyran Larkington
Age: Mid-twenties, but older than Isaac.
Gender: Female
Species: Fox

Appearance: A tall grey fox with red streaks on her tail and black eartips. She has sharp hazel eyes, long white fangs and sharpened claws. She normally wears a browny red shirt and navy blue pants, along with a wide leather belt.

Personality: Kyran is very smart. She is crafty, but also has some good in her and will avoid outright killing a beast if she can. However, she has a wide sadistic streak as well and is not below maiming or otherwise injuring her enemies. She has a fairly dark sense of humour. Also, she has quite a temper, but limits her real argumentativeness to family. She is a quiet beast at most times and has a sort of obsession with stories. She has some sort of strange double-personality thing going on, but no one really knows what it is. (Personality 1: Goodness, dark sense of humour, argumentativeness, smartness. Personality 2: Craftyness, sadisticness, quietness, story obsession.)

History: Kyran is Isaac's cousin and was raised alongside him. However, when the woodlanders rose up to overthrow her family, Kyran betrayed them and worked with the woodlanders instead, for no more reason than it would make a better story. No one ever found out. Kyran, being the best fighter in the family and also somewhat fond of Isaac, was sent to find him when he ran away.

Weapons: A bow and arrows, several poisoned darts, a spear.

Announcement

So, with the exception of Jarky's new character, everybeast is at Wildflower Inn. But of course, the Inn's supposed a meet-up; the OCs are supposed to go on quests!

So I would like everyone to think up an idea for a 1☆ quest, and PM your idea(s) to me! If I like it, I'll post it here, and we put it to a vote!

Remember, 1☆ quests are the easiest (and if you're an anime fan, no "find my cat" [how would that work anyway? Cats are sapient in Redwall...] or such). Still, think up an adventure, and PM it to me!

ok

Name: Ranala Treewhiffler

Gender: Female

Species: Squirrel

Age: Around 15 seasons

Appearance: Ranala is a tall, slim black squirrel with a larger tail than usual (very cute when she was a Dibbun, yes, but now it gets in the way all the time). She wears a brown tunic with a piece of rope for a belt, no sandals.

Personality: Ranala is a bit of a loner and very close to her friend Seatar. She is an outstanding treeclimber, and also quite good at cooking, especially nut pudding. She does not say very much, but will stand up to anybeast if needed. She loves Dibbuns, and visits Redwall often to play with them, something that Badgermum Rebecca always welcomes, because Dibbuns are a handful!   She also doesn't scare easily during fights with vermin.

History: Ranala doesn't talk much about her past, but she was once an oarslave aboard a ship called the Skullface, and Seatar, a ferret who was at the time a slave driver, helped her and the rest of the slaves escape. Before that, she had been a wandering traveler.

Weapons: She doesn't like fighting, but she is pretty handy with a dagger and a sling if she needs to fight.

(Sorry i was unable to finish the other character, maybe I will put it up tomorrow.)
(Wait, what happened, half of this is in italics now! Oops, sorry.)

Hey Flib, welcome to the forum, AND to the RP board, it's great to see a whole bunch of new faces in my favorite board (and forum home :P). Wherever you want the italics to stop you put the code in below (this is called closing, looks and works the same for all codes I know of) [/i]
You'll also notice that if you select the "Reply" button under the last post before the quick reply box, you'll have a bunch of buttons for various codes, three of these being bold, italics, and underlined text (all three are in the top left corner of the buttons).

Hope this helps, and y'all have fun now!

here's the other one:

Name: Seatar

Gender: Female

Species: Ferret

Age: Around 23 seasons

Appearance: Seatar's fur is medium brown with a creamy white underside. She wears a green tunic, similar to other woodlanders. She has a lot of scars from previous battles, and, like a lot of vermin do, brass rings in her ears and a scarf around her head.

Personality: Seatar used to be a pirate, but left the vermin crew aboard the Skullface a few seasons ago. Although a ferret, she is a goodbeast. She is easily angered, particularily when somebeast meets her the first time and takes for granted that she is an enemy. Seatar takes a while to warm up to anyone at first, but is fiercely loyal to the few friends she has. She has a strong hatred for vermin, especially ferrets, probably because she was once one of them and is now considered a traitor by her own species.

History: Seatar never talks about this, but she was once a slave driver on the Skullface and left after setting all the oarslaves free. (Note: This reason is given in a book I wrote, and it's very confusing, but she basically left because she was sick of being cruel to everybeast for no reason.)

Weapons: Seatar has a curved sword ( I think you call it a cutlass or a scimitar...), and she is an experienced warrior. Far more willing to fight than Ranala, she does not trust everybeast and is quick to judge them too easily as an enemy.

( um... I like both my OOC's, but I kinda think that Seatar is too much like Romsca...)

They're both fine. I can't tell you if she's too much like Romsca or not, as I honestly don't remember Pearls of Lutra, except that it featured monitor lizards. Anyway, send 'em over to the Inn.

Name: Gurt "Rockheart" Blunth

Species: Mole

Gender: Male

Age: 28

Appearance: Dark brown fur, with few stand-out features if you can look past his imposing stature coupled with multiple scars and burns. He wears a pine green gambeson and ashy grey trousers. He is both tall and exceptionally built by comparison with any normal mole. He carries a large pack upon which he carries his half-plate and mail. His armor has had the shine scuffed out of it, but is well maintained.

Personality: Quite the cheery fellow, boisterous in battle, though not as talkative outside of combat. He can be rowdy with a group, but tends to mind his manners and keep the peace.

Weapons: Most noteworthy is his much beloved Kite shield, not terribly shorter than he is, and well reinforced with iron. Additionally, he carries three knives in his belt. He's well versed in wrestling, and much prefers to crush his opponents with overwhelming strength over anything else.

History: Gurt was always a big mole, growing up in a tidy home east of Redwall in Mossflower along a bank a few Guosim tribes frequented, little over a mile from the nearest holt. He got a taste for wrestling during one such visit, awakening both a wander and battle lust. Many of the campaigns he joined saw him quite literally unearthing fortifications, undermining hordes and armies confidence in the walls they hid behind. He has seen both long siege, and open conflict, seizing glory in his claws and pulverizing any who would stare him down. In regions he frequented, he became the "Son of Earth," for in parting mere dirt he could forge total victory. His specialization in defense is a misnomer that only lasts until he reaches his first adversary, better labeled as a victim, as his defense is just the means by which he acquires his offense. His best weapon, hidden in plain sight.

Gurt has been to the inn a few times before in passing, but has yet to take a quest off them.

@Masika sheet's done, this'd be my first crack at mole speech, don't laugh too hard ;)

@Hazel Lorentz
Hazel, you need to ask if your character can have a relationship (whether it's family, friends, or lovers) with another author's character. Also, your character has basically no personality or backstory. Please, actually put effort into your character. Third, the fight's already been resolved, you can't just try to jump in late. I'm sorry, but I'm going to request @Dannflower Reguba that your post be removed from the RP.

Hey @Hazel Lorentz , welcome to the RP board. Just so you're aware, players aren't supposed to make In character posts until the character they've proposed has been accepted by the GM (GM=Game Master, not to be confused with God-moding which is widely forbidden. Masika is the GM in this case) I'll provide a link to the rules for RP'ing below, along with the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Rules: http://redwallabbey.com/forum/index.php?topic=88.0

FAQ: http://redwallabbey.com/forum/index.php?topic=10624.0

We also have a topic for Role Playing questions should you desire general advice on anything RP related.

The inn door suddenly swings open.

The wolf brought the rat to her face so they were (literally) nose-to-nose. "Ya think this about a stupid tankard?! Ya've been nothing but rude, threat'ning, ungrateful an' disrespectful t' the beasts who saved your sorry, no-good, flea-bitten hide from the moment ya walked in here! And then ya have t' gall t' attack me, after I helped tend t' ya, simply over a bonk on the head!" The wolf bared her fangs, looking like she might bite him at any moment.

"Ey, you! Leggo o' my matey this instant, wolf. D'ya hear me?"

*Pulls out broadsword and advances, ready to attack*
[close]

Above is the deleted post, I pulled it because I thought this might be a good opportunity to give you some pointers. Your best bet is to try and keep your writing organized in traditional paragraphs, I've more recently started using more spacing when there are lines of speech from multiple characters, but you still generally want your text to be clumped neatly. If you want to color your text, I won't stop you, but you may find it to be a bit more work than it's worth. Avoid using asterisks to announce actions, you're robbing yourself of precious verbs that bring your post to life. Take the end of the post for instance, why don't we try this...

"Ey, you! Leggo o' my matey this h'instant wolf! D'ya hear me?!" Sword drawn, the stoat stepped forward, readied for a fight.

This way the words are less broken up, and your writing is a bit more clear, allowing room for more flair as you pick up on different writing tricks and habits. One last note, pulling full quotes from other posts can be really jarring when you read through. When trying to reference something from another post, your best bet is pulling someone said and putting it in "Italics and quotes" or describing what your character sees with some key details to indicate when exactly your post is happening.

@WorshipTiria you may also want to go over the Rules, FAQ, and take a look at the RP questions topic.

I must say though, I'm really excited to see so many new faces, I've been doing this since I joined the forum in 2012, and have loved the entire journey. I encourage those of you who are new to stick it out, the first posts are never easy. If you've ever got RP related questions, I'd be more than happy to give you whatever I can.  :)

It doesn't matter. Redwall is a world of anthro animals. You could replace the characters with humans, and very little would change.

The point of these pages have nothing to do with species, but with developing the most important parts of a character:

  • Personality
  • Motivation
  • Development

No matter the species, you like a character for who they are. These pages can even apply to xenofiction (a story told from a non-human perspective, like how A Dog's Purpose and A Dog's Way Home, both by W. Bruce Cameron, are told from the perspective of dogs.)

  • Might wanna spell check with your own eyes. I was like "mose? What's a mose? ...Oh, a mouse," and then "how to act in high sooty? How do you act in sooty? ...Oh, high society".
  • I'm pretty sure they don't have knights in Redwall, and there's no high society either. Jacques said it was all little country villages and such.
  • A nitpick on my end, but you are aware arctic foxes aren't white year-round, right? They have a mottled brown coat in spring & summer, then their fur turns white in late fall.

Well he still works for a rich mouse but it has been a while for me since my last read of redwall so I forgot.

I assumed it was obvious with the white fur and red eyes that he is albino.

Alright, first of all, sorry for how long this took.

First off, @Vizireian, if you're still hanging around here, your character is approved. Didn't realize I had to say that for every new character.

Second, I guess everyone's waiting on me to post in Wildflower Inn, huh? Well, I was waiting on you guys. You know, over on the Sonic forum I RP on, we generally wait until everyone's posted, unless two author's OCs are engaged in a conversation or duel. Maybe we should implement that here.

Third: You guys have ignored the announcement: You were supposed to PM me ideas for a 1☆ quests!

Fourth: Here's another character. @Dannflower Reguba, I'd like you to look her over, see where I can improve, as I only wrote her for a oneshot.
Spoiler
Name: Fortuna

Species: Red fox

Gender: Female

Age: 20

Appearance: A pretty slender fox with green eyes and a black tail-tip. Paints a full moon  nestled between a waxing moon and a waning moon on her forehead every morning. Wears a loose-fitting purple dress with puffy white elbow-length sleeves a cord necklace with a pair of magpie feathers tied at the end, and a loose jerkin over the top half of her dress.

Personality: Cunning and sly, Fortuna is a (false) Seer. She's willing to play anyone who falls for her schemes. She typically won't dive headfirst into a fight, instead sticking to the shadows.

Weapons: About six daggers and an herb satchel full of plants, some of which are poisonous.

Tools: A pouch carrying some unfortunate creature(s)' bones for her bone reading, a satchel of herbs and instruments to make concoctions (some helpful, some deadly), and a pouch containing some kind of powder that she uses for fire reading.

Skills: Fortuna is a skilled herbalist and apothecary (potion-maker). She's also a fairly decent trapper, and a small-scale strategist.

Backstory: Little is known of Fortuna's history, other than she comes from a long line of Seer vixens.

Finally, one last thing: You can submit characters from other fandoms (The Rats of NIMH / The Secret of NIMH, Watership Down, Tailchaser's Song, Welkin Weasels, Mistmantle Chronicles, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, Warriors, and Silverwing), so long as they still manage to fit Redwall canon.

Personally wasn't sure where to go with it, been busy lately and also have no idea what you mean by level one quest.

Well, something simple, but not too simple, that requires a small band (or the whole group besides Masika and Mara), to go questing. What I can think of off the top of my head would be maybe an escort mission where the group gets attacked, or fighting off a brigand or slaver band.

Though, thinking about, maybe I should do away with leveled quests, and the groups just go an adventures, then meet up at the Inn until the next adventure.

I'll agree with that because not sure how youd rank a five star quest comparatively

Announcement

I've added a rule concerning other fandoms, and I've removed the leveled quests. Instead, the characters just go on grand adventures.

So, for our first adventure, I suggest the characters go on a quest to hunt down a slaver gang, that turns into a fight against searats. Sounds good?

Vote in the poll!

It sounds good to me, but how do they find out about it? Will some escaped slave come in and ask for help or do they just randomly decide to hunt slavers, not knowing of there are any around?

@shisteer of nothing much
Hmm, an escaped slave asking for help sounds good. I was just thinking they heard of a slaver band and decided to take 'em down, but your idea sounds much better.

@Flib Bigboat
Who has nothing to do with it?

Flib's playing a searat yes? Pretty sure she means her character isn't connected.... possibly <_<

Actually Dann, Flib's playing a former pirate ferret and her former-enslaved squirrel friend.

Also, when is your mole character coming? You submitted him over a month ago, and I accepted him.

This list of characters is mainly so I can keep track of everyone:

Masika — Masika's character
Name: Masika

Gender: Female

Species: Otter

Age: Mid-twenties

Appearance: Pretty much a bipedal Eurasian otter in a brown tunic & belt.

Personality: Sweet and playful, if just a tad impatient/snarky (mostly with Mara, though). She's got a kind spirit, but don't make her mad! Loves kids (most of the time). The (slightly) more in-charge one.

Weapons: An oak staff and bow.
[close]
Mara — Masika's character

[close]
Maut — Masika's character

[close]
Veach — Masika's character

Nitsyok Sagnarb — shisteer of nothing much's character

[close]
Harlapple — The Grey Coincidence's character

[close]
Nyika — Masika's character

Roughtail — Crafter Man's character

Fern — Ebantu the Kararehe's character
[close]
Mayla Birch — Ebantu the Kararehe's character
[close]
Isaac Farran Larkington the Fourth — Jarky Thistlebrush's character

Faumyan — shisteer of nothing much's character
[close]
Romyan — shisteer of nothing much's character
Name: Romyan
Age: 23 seasons
Gender: Male
Species: Otter
Build: Tall and slim.
Weapons: A light sabre and a bow.
Personality: Rather talkative, but not altogether gregarious. He appreciates a good laugh and generally acts as a spokesbeast for the two brothers. Not disinclined to tease, but he tries to choose the right time to do it.
Appearance: Dark furred, with grey-green eyes that rarely lack sparkle. He wears a green tunic with a broad belt and a quiver to match. Arrows are fletched with one green feather and two white ones. He wears a green floppy hat coloured to match his tunic and a woven flax bracelet.

 Splash — WorshipTiria's character
Name: Splash
 Age: 12 seasons
 Gender: Female
 Species: Otter
 Build: Tall, slightly slender though
Personality: Kind, always willing to help, though can be angered quickly when threatened or when others are threatened, like most otters.
Weapon: Prefered weapon is a sling, though she will adapt and use whatever is nearby.
Appearance: light furred, brown eyes, usually carries a pack with supplies in it.
Motivation: On her way to Redwall from her home, as she had never been there and wanted to see it, as well as get some expeirience traveling...
[close]
Kyran Larkington — Jarky Thistlebrush's character

[close]
Ranala Treewhiffler — Flib Bigboat's character

[close]
Seatar — Flib Bigboat's character

Gurt "Rockheart" Blunth — Dannflower Reguba's character

Personality: Fierce with those his age, but kinder to younger beasts

Weapon: Broadsword

Vizion 'Viz' — Vizireian's character
Name: Vizion 'Viz'

Age: 21

Species: arctic fox

Gender: Male

Hometown: a small town in mossflower wood

Personality/Traits: brave, over the top, painfully oblivious, compassionate, quiet unless prevoked and polite

Weapons: A rapier

Appearance: muscular, tall, red eyes, white fur

Strengths: humility and a normally clear mind

Weaknesses: he refuses to hurt innocent bystanders and he will harm those who call him a coward

Background: Vizion was raised in Redwall abby until the age of 6 when he was adopted by a kind otter to be trained as a guard for rich mouse family's daughter. In his training he learned swordply though he would rather sleep then watch his charge he will still choose to be responsible over taking the cowards way out

Wears a loose-fitting purple dress with puffy white elbow-length sleeves a cord necklace with a pair of magpie feathers tied at the end, and a loose jerkin over the top half of her dress.

I have a lot of other characters so I keep mixing them up. I was thinking about a different one at the moment, and was really confused. Thanks for clarifying!

@Dannflower Reguba @Jarky Thistlebrush @Vizireian
Send your characters over to the Inn if you wish to join in the quest (if it gets enough votes, but it looks like it will).

@Hazel Lorentz
Your character can be resubmitted, you know. Just remember some roleplaying rules: no powerplaying or godmoding, ask before you make your character family/friends/lovers to someone else's (having crushes is okay, as those can one-sided) and no trying to jump into something already resolved. However, I ask that you expand on your character - it's bare-bones. The other OCs can't see the character sheets, so there's no reason to hide something.

QuoteGodmoding:
Godmoding (or GMing) is the state in which a roleplayer makes his character too strong. i.e. being able to control everything on earth or having a really tricked out sword that can destroy an invading fleet in two seconds. The gamemaster is subject to the same as everyone, no GMing allowed. If you are GMing, you will be asked to stop by either a GM or a member of the staff.

QuotePowerplaying:
Similar to Godmoding (GMing) is Powerplaying, or PPing. PPing is when you control someone else's character. i.e. you kill that person's character, say something about that character with no ground already said, or generally take any control over any other character in the RPG without the character's owner's consent. If the character's owner gives consent, you may PP with that character, advancing them forward.

@WorshipTiria
I'm not asking anymore, I'm telling you: work on Splash's character sheet. If I have to, I'll get Dannflower Reguba to explain to you and Hazel why this is so important.

QuoteCharacter Sheets:
A character sheet is the information that is your character. For instance, if you wanted to join a roleplay, you'd create Mister Mouse. You'd outline in this sheet his name (Name: Mister Mouse. You'd outline in this sheet his name (Name: Mister Mouse), his age (Age: Adult) ect. It is suggested you put as much detail in this as possible. You may be given a specific template to fill out in some roleplays.

I ain't trying Flib. It's just that I've asked WorshipTiria twice to work on his character, and he only just recently did so, after I @'d him a third time.

And honestly, I've been RPing for two years now on an almost daily basis over on FFn, and honestly, you'd think even brand-new RPers would at least know to check the rules first, ask before jumping into an RP, maybe stop and think, "Hey, would I like it if some random stranger came and jumped into my story/game, claimed they were related or in a relationship with my characters when neither me nor my characters know them, and/or derailed my plot?", but no, newbies seem to forget common manners simply because it's on the Internet.

I wasn't perfect starting out, no one is, but you'd think people would at least read the rules and show a little manners, and think their characters through. Just because RPing is technically creating a story, people forget it's also a game, and no one likes dealing with boring, one-dimensional, flat characters or overpowered characters who constantly try to make the story all about them. This is playing pretend, just text-based and on the Internet. You'd think people would realize to play fairly, ask to join, etc., but they don't. And it gets annoying that every newbie makes these mistakes simply because it's on the Internet.

I'm sorry for this rant, but really, this happens with every single newbie I encounter.

Out of curiosity, would anybeast be interested in a writing lesson? We've got several young, new players here, and Masika, you also asked me a question on your most recent character. Given that not everyone can use Discord, I could stream the lesson on Twitch. Doesn't have to be anything too complicated, some simple tips on character creation, typical mistakes to try and avoid, how to make your writing come alive, simple stuff (that'll carry you quite far I might add). I've been RP'ing for 7 years, and it's one of the primary factors that taught me how to communicate strongly with others.

Also while we're talking about characters, I want to apologise for not writing Fern and Mayla's histories. I am rubbish at writing histories without writing a whole story and it's something I need to work on.

Announcement

Alright everyone, at this point it's pretty much a given that we'll be hunting down a slaver band, which'll turn into a fight against searats. So, a few things:

  • If your characters have not entered by the Inn by the time the escaped slave comes to the Inn requesting help, you'll miss out. We can't have random OCs jumping in late.
  • It's time to create some Quest-specific OCs—the leader of the slavers who give the slaves over to searats, searat captains and crews, NPCs (essentially minor characters that anyone can control), slaves, etc. Please PM all Quest-only characters over to me—we don't want these oneshot OCs cluttering up the OOC topic. (Note, I'm not writing the escaped slave—I'd butcher any cry for help!)
  • If you plan on making an OC who'll become a regular quester, then you can post them in this topic!

I fixed up Badwander's sheet and made two other characters also.

Spoiler

Name: Badwander.

Gender: Male.

Species: Stoat.

Age: 20 seasons.

Appearance: Typical stoat look but has no tail, is missing left ear, is right-handed and has a long jagged scar across his throat.

Personality: Fierce with those his age, but kinder to younger beasts.

History: Abondanded from birth, Badwander was adopted and raised by a homely molewife who became almost like a mother to him. He was 15 seasons old when she was killed by a band of vermin as Badwander was out in the woods, and he returned a short while later to find her dead and their home pillaged. Heartbroken and homeless, he set out roaming to find another place to live. He was soon captured by the Flitchaye, just barely managing to escape them and save himself. He continued to wander for 5 more seasons until he came to the inn.

Weapon: Broadsword.
[close]
Spoiler

Name: Seasalt.

Gender: Female.

Species: Ferret.

Age: 20 seasons.

Appearance: Looks mostly like your average female ferret with sandy fur, but lacks the normal mask, wears a dagger at her right hip and a scimitar at her left, has green eyes, is dominate-handed.

Personality: Funny, obliging and cheerful, always ready to undertake any task.

History: Seasalt is Seatar's twin sister; she was captured by sea rats when she was only 8 seasons old and was made an oarslave, though she escaped 7 seasons later. From that time on, she has spent most of the time wandering through Mossflower woods until she came to the inn. Raffdun is her mate.

Weapon: Dagger and scimitar.
[close]
Spoiler

Name: Raffdun.

Gender: Male.

Species: Ferret.

Age: 22 seasons.

Appearance: Typical ferret look with dun colored fur, wears an earring in each ear and a long sword on his right hip, has grey eyes, is left-handed.

History: Originally a corsair, Raffdun was tired of life on the open sea and wanted a change. He escaped from his ship one night and swam for Salamandastron, where he found a way to get to Mossflower. He tried once to gain entrance in Redwall Abbey, but was turned away by the Abbess, who thought he looked too evil to have any good in him. He instead decided to live in the woods, where he eventually met Seasalt.

Personality: Gruff-looking on the outside but in reality quite friendly, he is always on the lookout for an adventure. He hates the sight of blood and doesn't really enjoy killing others the way most vermin do.

Weapon: Long sword.

Badwander's sheet is exactly the same, just with an unknown history. I asked you to work on your character.

I linked to pages to how make and develop interesting characters. Did you even bother to read them?

Your other two characters have ok backstories. Seasalt is good, but Raffdun has...well, an unrealistic backstory. Even the most moral person will not just go "This is wrong" towards a lifestyle they've known since birth—it takes experiencing something different and/or something traumatic or life-changing to make them change and ditch a lifestyle they've always known. For example, Deyna/Tagg was raised to be the ultimate warrior of the Juskarath, but he was never made to kill, hence when his adoptive father tried to force him to skin his friend alive as part a ritual or some such (I don't quite remember the exact reason), because he was not accustomed to killing and cruelty, he turned his back on them. Or in The Prince of Egypt, Moses felt differently towards the slaves' suffering after learning he was born a Hebrew.

Finally, the personality is bare-bones. I'm asking for complex characters.

Name: Dinah. Formally Dinah Firstspear now often just goes by Old Din or just Din.

Species: Stoat

Sex: Male

Age: Old, around 60-70 equivalent years.

Appearance:
An ancient stoat Din looks like hes been through hell. Ragged and worn fur thats going grey in several places. Walks with a hefty left on his right side as well as being deaf in his left ear. His eyes however are still very sharp, and his handpaws show the strain of a life time of combat and work. So clearly hes been through most of what could be considered hell. But he tends to always have a smile on his face and happy words to spread. Seems hes taken it rather well. Or at least gotten over it.

The last notable part of his appearance is a Salmandrastron Brand on the back of his neck. A circle with a triangle inside it and a stylized S inside that. Denoting him as someone who attempted to attack the mountain, failed, and lived.

Personality:
As someone who has come to terms with his long life of lucky breaks and terrible decisions Din is much happier than one would likely assume just by looking at him. He wants to be happy and help others be happy too, especially vermin like himself. He wants to show them a better option that won't lead to their deaths. He is happy to talk about his long list of experiences and tell tales as those tend to stick in the minds of the youth better and help them form better habits.

Possessions:
Having everyone hes owned taken from him at some point in his life Din does not carry much personal anymore. Generally just a stout staff that a bindle is attached too as well as a cooking pot. A backpack with simple food and medical materials, and then a cloak as well as tunic and pants. But these hold no special point in his heart. And if threatened with a robbery can and has in the past given it all up and walked off to find new items. Hes had to replace them all so often hes gotten very good at it.

Skillz;
Adept healer as well as sickness treater
Decent with a cooking pot as well as needle and thread.
Despite his age he was trained as a skilled spearsbeast in the horde - and while not as fast as he used to be due to age and injuries' hes still got the knowledge with his staff.

History;
http://redwallabbey.com/forum/index.php?topic=11811.0
See here for Din telling of his history but shorthand;
Born and raised in a horde as a spear wielding scout
Scouted Salmandrastron for the horde, was captured and tortured as well as deafened in his left ear.
Horde was broken at the mountain, Din had to bury his former life.
Exiled from the mountain, barely survived the toads, entered the forest as part of a rat band
Taught them how to fight, bad idea, they were wiped out after attacking Gousim
Pulled from the river by foxes and became a servant for them.
Ducked out when he saw them falling into stealing habits.
Now wanders around trying to pass on his experience and keep youths from going down a dark path.

Silver
Name: Silver
Species: Ferret
Gender: Male
Age: 8 seasons
Appearance: A cream body with silver fur on his lower body, grey legs, black tail, brown eyes, and no bandit mask (if this sounds nothing like a ferret, google "silver ferret". It's a color morph.) Wears a dark red jerkin over a brown tunic and black boots that seem just a bit too big for him.
Personality: Meet me halfway between Cheek Stag Otter (Mattimeo) and Vitch. Being a little kid, Silver can be playful and cheeky, but having been raised by a bandit/slaver means he has a cruel streak (sorta—he's too young to think anything crueller than stabbing, throwing pebbles, and beating with a switch). He loves to play hide-and-seek and tries to be helpful to those in charge. He switches between sweet little kid and bandit-in-the-making with little provocation.
Weapons: A dagger, a sling, and a short sword (he's still learning how to wield a sword, though)
Skills: Silver is actually pretty good at identifying herbs and is a good swimmer, to point some joke he might be part otter.
History: Silver's father died when he was two or three, and his mother joined a slaver band a season later. The rest...you'll see when he appears in the quest. º-)

Spoiler
Name: Shuvvelclaw
Age: 69 seasons
Gender: Male
Species: Mole
Appearance: Suprisingly tall and strong for his age, wears only a pair of dark red trousers with a thick black belt. He wears a red eyepatch because he is missing his right eye, has enormous shovel-like digging claws, and on his chest is a tattoo of a banner enscribed with his motto, "Treet utherz ee way you'm wants to be treeted"
Personality: His shyness can make him act a bit bossy once in a while, but for the most part he loves helping those who are younger than him and is really quite kind once you get to know him well, and the Dibbuns like to call him Grandpa Mole.
History: Born in Mossflower Woods, Shuvvelclaw has always led a simple life. He has never had any children, which he finds rather sad. When he was 20 seasons old, he went to live in Redwall Abbey for some time; however, as he is such a shy mole, he was not suited to living among so many creatures for long, so he left the Abbey several seasons later and became a rover. He has made many friends across the way, but being the restless soul that he is, he hates staying in the same place for very long. He has never been inside the inn before, although he has heard of it from several of his friends, and even seen the outside of it once.
Weapon: Digging claws

I mean, I'd like to but I am a bit stumped. Suffering from Writer's Block in general, plus busy farm season, Plus another roleplay that is consuming the vast majority of my freetime. It also doesn't help that there is... veeery little coherent planning going on here. Like, Roughtail had some great interactions, and your characters did stuff and everyone else... showed up at the inn and... ate food... I guess?

The Inn is a meet-up, a place for the characters to hang between quests. It's supposed to be like that.

Would anyone like to reboot this and try again?

Im willing for more Dinah times. We could try to move it to a few days later and have some people show up again?

I was actually thinking of starting over. People lost interest due to lack of story structure.

I might have to agree since I vanished and do not know what's going on.
