Title: Gabe The Warrior's Art
Post by: Gabe The Warrior on May 02, 2013, 11:04:02 PM
Hi, for those of you who don't know who I am, my name is Gabe the Warrior or Gabe Martin. I'm a young artist aspiring to be a graphic designer, and possibly create some of my own fictional stories and games. I love game concepts and art, and I hope you enjoy all of my works. I do simple sketches to 3D sculptures and design (that is when I have the materials for 3D work, which I usually don't have and can only acquire through school). Personally, I prefer to draw digitally and traditionally. I love various types of paints ranging from tempura, oil, and acrylic paints, especially watercolor. I hope to grab the attention of many with my works and use it to further myself in my future career. What you will be seeing/see here is mostly digital paintings and sketch work, because that's what I can do for the moment. Enjoy and look forward to my art!

Standards
- Currently, I will only draw characters from "Redwall (Matthias)" to "Mariel of Redwall" and any fan characters.
- I'll allow for two people to sign up for an art trade with me, and don't expect me to finish anytime soon please... ^^;
- I have a limited schedule, please be nice!
- It's first come first serve, so if you want a spot, pm or just say you want to art trade with me on the topic.

Current Art Trade List:
1. Romsca (Pending Request)
2. Rainshadow (Finished)

My Request by #
1. Skragg the Weasel (Redwall)
2. Mattimeo (Mattimeo)

I'll be adding details soon..

So here is my artwork, mostly sketches though. I've been practicing trying to draw for a while now. These images are way old. I have newer updates I'll upload another time. For now Enjoy! Sorry for the bad quality.

Sorry to disappoint... :(

I don't take requests at the moment. I feel as if though I am not ready to take requests, my ability to draw in a quick amount of time is insufficient. I wouldn't want to take requests and make art for people half-heartedly, it just doesn't feel right. I need to be motivated in order to create the best works possible. Also, I'm not too fond of requests, but I am planning on taking on commissions when I feel experienced and confident enough in my own work. Please understand. For now, everyone should just enjoy what I have to show, if you don't mind.. ^^;

As for the Fire Emblem resemblance, it never occurred to me that it would turn out like that until I finished it and realized. I just thought the colors I chose were fitting, I never really intended to make it look like Ike.. hahaha.. I appreciate all the amazement though. And trust me, there are much better art of Redwall than mine.. ^^;

@KitrallStreamrippler,

What I meant by bad quality was the quality of the scans. It looks really dirty, other than that, I think it looks fine.

*facepalm* Of course. There's my mouth talking before my brain again. I do think the quality of the scans is fine, though.

@Romsca,
Sure, in fact. Let's start soon. It might give me good practice on drawing other animals besides Mice. Honestly, I'm not confident in my abilities, but people say I draw good. I believe them, but I want to draw better.

You'll be the first person I art trade with on this forum. So tell me what you want and I'll tell you what I want. Deal?

  And, possibly sometime in the future, would you consider doing a trade with me as well?  I don't draw nearly as well as you, but still, it'd be fun!

@Romsca and Rainshadow,
Ok, you two are on my list first, so you get to decide what you want me to draw. I will only draw characters from "Redwall (Matthias)" to "Mariel of Redwall" and any fan characters. As for me, I haven't decided yet.

@Redwaller,
Sorry, I'm only doing two for now. I've put up a list on the original post. See that for more details.

@Leatho Shellhound,
Hmm.. Well, the only thing I can suggest is make observations on real people wearing clothing. Start drawing people, more realistic things.  Just focus on studying clothing and draw what you see. Your eyes won't fail you if you draw what you see. Just practice and observation, that's all it is. Slowly, you'll be able to create your own idea on how creases work, like how I did.

  Whoa, I did forget about that!  :P  Well, this is my main character at the moment (seeing as I'm in a whopping total of what?  3 RPs?  :P

Name:  Elda (EL-duh) Logi (LOY-yay)

Species:  Otter

Gender:  Female

Age:  23

Position:  Head cook

Weapons:  Elda carries her trusty ladle, which is made of a strong steel.  She herself forged it for fighting as well as cooking, and she has lovingly named it Traustar (Turr-EYE-stir), which means Sturdy.  She even engraved its name on the handle, so she'd never forget it.
 Elda also carries a round wooden shield, made from an old oak tree.  Her shield is painted to look like it was on fire.  She made it under the careful eye of her father when she was a mere child.  Ever since, she's been adding small changes to its design, taking out jars of red, orange and yellow dye each night and painting another flame onto it.  She has named her shield Björt (Bee-YURT), which means bright.  She carved the name into the back of the shield, near the centre, so that its name would not be forgotten, either.
 And lastly, Elda carries a dagger which, unlike her other weapons, has no name.  It is a plain, steel dagger with no real value, and its hilt is wrapped in black leather.  Its sheath is of the same black leather.

Physical appearance:  Elda is an albino otter, having pure white fur.  Her eyes are very pink, almost red.  Her nose is of the same colour.  Elda has dyed her muzzle a bright red, fading into orange and then yellow before returning to its natural white.  She did this to mirror the pattern on her shield.
 Elda is a rather lean otter, with not much muscle showing.  She does, however, have quite strong and large muscles, but they don't show.  She's a bit taller than a river otter's average height, due to the fact that she's half sea otter.

Armour/clothing:  Elda wears a deep red tunic, which, like her shield and muzzle, fades to orange and yellow near the hems (neckline, sleeves and the base ;)).  She wears chainmail underneath her tunic, and has a black belt which holds both her dagger (tied to the left side) and her ladle (tucked into the left side of her belt, close to the dagger).  Her shield, which she holds with her left hand, is slung over her back, held secure by a black belt, much like her other belt.  Elda also has a black cloak, to keep her from getting cold on the long winter nights.

  Ah, yes I do!  I, being of the doodling kind, did quite a few little headshots of her before actually making a full-body drawing.  It's not nearly the best, but it's how I imagine her.

  Sorry for the double post, and for bothering to ask this, but if you haven't already started on my request, I was wondering if I could change it?  If not, that's totally fine, but I recently started writing a Warriors fanfic and wanted a really good cover for it, possibly a coloured drawing (or not coloured) of the main character.  If you've already started on Elda, then don't worry about it, and completely forget this post.  But, if you haven't already started, would you mind if I changed my request?  It's totally fine if you can't, I was just wondering.

Update:

Rainshadow's Art Trade (Elda Logi):

(http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa356/Penciltips/img182.jpg) (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/Penciltips/media/img182.jpg.html)

Whoops I misread about the muscles part.. oh well.. I hope it doesn't look too much like a male though, I tried making it look feminine as possible, but with animals it's naturally hard to tell. I tried making the eyelashes to make her look female hahaha.. Hope you like it anyways. The pose was difficult for me to find, but I finally liked the outcome of it. It was a good practice for me drawing your character.

And... one of my favorite scenes from Mattimeo:

(http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa356/Penciltips/img183.jpg) (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/Penciltips/media/img183.jpg.html)

"It is only a sword, Mattimeo. It does not make you a warrior merely because you carry it...
The true warrior is good, gentle and honest. His bravery comes from within himself; he learns
to conquer his own fears and misdeeds"
-Matthias The Warrior

A drawing I did a long way back, when I first started Redwall.

Presenting my favorite Character in digital Lineart: Cluny the Scourge

(http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa356/Penciltips/Clunythescourge.png) (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/Penciltips/media/Clunythescourge.png.html)

"I am that is...
I suffer and conquer all...
Fear me, Cluny the Scourge...
Ruler of Redwall!"

Mwahahahahaa!! I know I love both good and evil sides. This would perhaps what would've happened if Cluny had won. He takes up Martin's sword and shield.
