Title: Pass Along Fan Fiction.
Post by: Faiyloe on October 06, 2013, 02:34:12 PM
This is a Pass Along Fan Fiction. Anyone can pick up where the last person left off and write the next chapter. Try and make your chapter have a word count of at least 500 words or more. Also If one person makes a plot twist don't then try and act like it never happen because you wanted something else to happen. And lastly have fun.

Prologue

The last rays of the sun shone through the multi colored glass of great hall and glinted off of the sword of martin the warrior hanging on its pegs over the tapestry, reflecting silver, rainbow, light across the room and onto the face of an old mouse. Soon the miraculous moment was over. The sun fell behind the wall and over the mountains to the west out of sight leaving the hall in shadow. The gray mouse leaned heavily on his cane, bent with age. His eyes, though dim with age, had a deep wisdom in them as if he had seen many thing both good and bad. Looking up at the tapestry his eyes met Martin the Warrior's young fiery eyes yet they seemed to share that wisdom. He looked and remembered days long gone. A time in his youth when he, like Martin, had been called to take up the sword and defend the abbey and all those he held dear.  A time when evil lurked in Mossflower. An evil that threatened the abbeys very foundation. Threatened to tear apart everything the abbey stood for. The icon of safety and protection, peace and friendship. Yet Martin guided them like he had countless times before. He had called them to fight for what they believed in because they were redwallers and that is what redwallers do.  Fight for the weak, the defenceless, fight to protect mossflower from invasion, slavery, and the tyranny of a warlord. Once Mossflower had been conquered but that would never happen again so long as Martin was there to guide them.

Chapter One

One way to look at the dilemma was to look at it upside down and another way was to run around in circles, or at least, that was what the dibbuns thought. They treated it all like an enormous game. They danced around the cellars shrieking and giggling, and pretending to be helpful while the older creatures fussed about not doing much better.

Friar Chester, an incredibly fat squirrel and the abbeys head cook, had gotten stuck under some barrels when a rack had fallen on him in the cellars. He was fine but he was also undeniably stuck. His normally cheerful manner had died off several minutes ago and his mouth was now drawn in a tight frustrated line. He was quite fed up with all this and he wished some beast would just get him out already.

The problem was not that the barrels were too heavy to move it was more that if they moved one then all the rest would come falling down on the Friar.  Abbess Arua, a gray furred mouse, walked slowly around the barrels contemplating the conundrum, trying to find a solution. She stepped back and called over to Formole.

"Formole can you have all the extra barrels removed?"

"Oi marm oi'll get roight on et," There were many barrels lying around all on there own that could be removed without a problem. Once they were gone then they would be able to have a better look at the problem.

***

Not far from Mossflower Calendula marched at the head of her army. The Vixen had silky golden fur like fire, fading from red to orange in to yellow. There was no white on the fox, instead, were white should have been, there was a golden yellow. She wore a gray cape the color of ash which billowed out behind her as she strode confidently against the wind. Her eyes, like her fur, shown with a golden light of fire and malice, and like fire, she would destroy everything in her path.

Chapter Two
About a four day journey from the seashore into Mossflower wood, a young squirrel watched from a tree. What he saw would change his life forever. His home was burning. His family lay dead on the grass. A huge army of vermin were below him. His only chance was to run. He would go to Redwall and warn them. They would take care of him. So he began to run faster then ever before, leaping from branch to branch with the laugh of the vixen ringing in his ears.

Back at Redwall Abby all the able bodied redwallers were in the cellars assessing the situation. They discussed several ideas but none seemed to work out. Then Skipper Gelo came up with a plan.
"What if Fourmole and his crew could tunnel under the cellars and take him out from underneath?" asked Gelo. That seemed like a good idea to most, so Fourmole and his crew began gathering their tools. Before long friar Chester was free but he was in need of a bath and in a bad mood.
"So now I suppose you expect me to make dinner?" Chester grumbled.
"Actually that gluttonous hare Tayoe is the self proclaimed temporary friar." Said Arua. Chester let out a resounding yelp and ran to save his kitchens.

Relelo the young squirrel had been running since dawn. His bow and quiver of red and green fletched arrows were getting heavy and his family medallion was hanging loosely around his neck. The vixen now had the other six medallions in her evil grasp. It was now almost noon. His mouth and throat were dry. He began to slow down. Knowing he must get a drink of water, he climbed down to a small stream. Just wen Relelo reached down for water the silence was broke by the singing voices of shrews. All the sudden Relelo began to feel dizzy. He was beginning to stumble when a mouse in shining armor entered his vision.
"Trust the shrews Relelo, they will help you. Your father knew them well." Then the strange mouse vanished and Relelo fell into the stream with a loud splash.

Calendula was questioning a Squirrel dibben.
"Where is Redwall?" Calendula howled.
"East. That's what daddy said" She sobbed.
"Why did you only leave one alive?" asked the angry Calendula.
"The other five fought like mad beasts. They were expert archers and all or them had those strange looking arrows!" Exclaimed a terrified weasel.
"What's the arrows got to do with it?" Thundered the now enraged Calendula. "Why cant a huge army of vermin capture six confounded squirrels?" She screeched. The weasel had melted in with the rest of the vermin. They all knew she would make an example of someone, but no one could tell who.

It is not Quite 500 words.  ;)

Okay, here's my chapter. Hope you like it.  :)

Chapter Three
Falling into the stream water temporarily revived Relelo. The young squirrel gasped, spitting out water as he stumbled back onto the bank, exhausted and dizzy. Out of the corner of his eye he saw several logboats full of shrews round a bend in the stream. Just as he lost consciousness, Relelo heard a shout from a shrew.
"Hoi, there's an 'alf drownded squirrel on the stream bank! Lay off paddlin', Guosim!"

                  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Tayoe the hare yelped as Friar Chester chased him out of the kitchens with a ladle. "I say, bally unreasonable of you, won't let a chap help out, wot!"
The squirrel Friar gritted his teeth and yelled at the incorrigible hare, "This is not the first time you've tried to get into my kitchens, but it's certainly the last! If you ever enter my kitchens again without my express permission, I'll see to it you're banished from Redwall permanently!"
Tayoe munched on a scone he'd stolen, twiddling his ears at the enraged Friar. "Oh, all right, all right, got to do what the jolly old Friar flippin' well commands, wot!" He walked away, leaving Chester fuming. The squirrel adjusted his apron and went back into the kitchens, overseeing his kitchen helpers as they carried out tasks.

                  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Calendula had kidnapped the squirrel Dibbun, thinking that if all else failed she could be used as a hostage. Now the vixen was on the march again with her army. She was still fuming about the incompetence of her vermin in capturing a few squirrels with bows and arrows, but she was glad that they'd been killed in the end. She pawed the medallions around her neck, sneering inwardly at the memory of the squirrel family who had dared to challenge her. Fools! Now they're all in Dark Forest, and serves them right! Turning her thoughts to what lay ahead, the vixen thought about Redwall Abbey and her plans for taking it. She called her confidante Klimpsy to the front, and as they marched she told the female stoat her plans.
"When we reach Redwall, we'll strike without warning! We'll camp in the woods, and then I'll take a few hordebeasts in the dead of night, and with grappling hooks we'll scale the wall and let everybeast else in! The woodlanders we'll take as slaves to serve us. Once I am ruler of the Abbey, I will conquer all Mossflower!"
Klimpsy nodded her head vigorously. "Aye, milady, 'tis a good ould plan sure 'nough, I'm thinkin'. How can it go wrong when you yourself are leadin' the attack?"
                  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
As dusk fell, most of the Redwallers headed for bed. Abbess Arua, however, decided to take a little walk before she retired for the night. The middle-aged mouse wandered out to the lawns, the stars beginning to show in the heavens as she headed up the west wallsteps. Arua tucked her paws into her habit sleeves and stared out over the western flatlands, illuminated by the sun's dying rays.
It was a lovely sight, the flatlands as beautiful and quiet as they usually were. Arua stood and took in the scene, hoping that Redwall would never again be attacked as it had been many times before.
Behind her she heard pawsteps. Tayoe came up the stairs and stood beside the Abbess. "What are y'bally well thinkin about, marm?"
She sighed. "I was just thinking how beautiful all this is, and hoping that this beloved Abbey will never again come under attack."
Tayoe wrinkled his nose. "I don't think it flippin' likely. Why, no vermin chaps have been seen around here for seasons! So I don't think you should worry about the blighters, marm." The older mouse smiled at the hare. Though he could be rather exasperating, he really was a good beast.
"Aye, Tayoe. I'm sure you're right. Why worry about something that probably won't happen?"
The two Abbeydwellers stood on the wall for a time, then descended the stairs together. Overhead the moon looked down on the tranquil scene. Little did the woodlanders know what was coming for them.
                  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Relelo came to. Gathered around the young squirrel was an anxious group of shrews, who looked visibly relieved that he was still alive.
  "W-where am I?" Relelo asked.
An older shrew answered. "You're with the Guosim, matey."

Here Is the next Chapter!

CHAPTER FOUR

The young mouse Russell sat with his back to the abbeys outer wall looking at the reflection of the moon on the surface of the abbey pond and playing a flute. The soft music made its way across the Abbey grounds and threw the trees of Mossflower woods to meet the ear of one of Calendula's scouts. The stoat kicked his partner, a fat rat named Halfear,

“Ya ‘ear that?” He said in a lowered voice.

“‘Ear what?” Halfear said his voice raised in what he thought was a whisper scratching his single ear. The stoat, whose name was Redeyes, promptly gave him a clout between the ears.
“Tone it down Idjit. That noise. It is coming from over there,” He said heading in that direction with out waiting for Halfear who was sitting on the ground rubbing his head.

“Now what you do that fer?”

“Shhhhh!”

***

Russell finished his song and stood up as the Abbess came over with Tayo clapping softly for him. He gave a little bow.

“That was lovely,” the Abbess said

“Top hole wot!”

“Oh it was nothing, I’ll escort you back to the abbey if you may,” Russell said. Linking arms with the Abbess.

***

Relelo sat in one of the shrew log boats as it sailed down the moon lit river. The Log-a-log, Gulva, came over and sat next to him

“You knew my father?” He said softly.

“Aye, I do, but why do you say knew as if it were in the past?”  She asked but she feared she already knew the answer.

“He is dead...All of them are.” Relelo said almost bluntly. He had to to keep from breaking down. he took the medallion in his paw and looked at it turning it over letting the moonlight play on the well polished metal. “Vermin came in from the east there is no one left but me.

***

Tulip watched the vermin camp from her perch in the tree. She had been following them ever since they had attacked her home and killed her family. She believed that they had her twin brother. When she had gone back after their home had been destroyed and the vermin had left she had found the dead bodies of her slain family but her brother had not been among them.

She ran a paw threw her cream colored fur with worry. He had to be somewhere for all she knew he could be locked in that box or in the tent but she wasn't about to give up she would find Relelo for he was all the family she had left in the world.

How can Tulip be his sister and him be the son of her mothers friend?

Chapter 5

"Set a new course for Redwall" Gulva said to a shrew in the boat next to theirs.
"Why are we going there?" Relelo asked,
"To warn them of the vermin and to be there if there is war." Gulva replied,
"When will we arrive?" asked Releo ,
"Tomorrow morning, get some rest" Gulva answered. Relelo leaned back and fell asleep, but he could not erase the death of his twin sister Tulip from his dreams.
*****************************************************************
Tulip began to feel drowsy. "I will not fall asleep!" she told herself over and over, even as her eyes drooped shut. She slowly slipped of the branch; she woke up as she was falling, her bow slipped from her hand, and she grabbed a dry branch. She tried to scramble back up the tree, but the branch snapped and she fell the rest of the way and landed at a rat guard's feet senseless.
*****************************************************************
Tayo snuck into the kitchen assuming no one was awake, but he was proven wrong. He jumped when he glimpsed friar Chester putting out dough to rise over night. Tayo quickly grabbed a bag of candied chestnuts and ran. Chester sighted him and raced after the hare swinging his ladle and muttering threats.
*****************************************************************
A rat and a weasel marched up to Calendula with Tulip dragging in-between them, her hands were bound behind her back and she was just regaining consciousness.
"Well, well what have we here" said  Calendula,
"A squirrel I captured just outside the camp." answered the rat,
"Well squirrel what were you doing outside are camp? I do hate spies." the vixen asked,
"I got lost" Tulip answered
"Then why were you armed?" the fox snapped, tulip found that she still had her small dagger and managed to reach it with her bound hands. After she cut her bonds she threw the dagger in between her legs at the vixen, The knife hit the vixen in the leg and she yowled in pain. Tulip immediately kicked the rat holding her weapons, breaking several ribs. The squirrel grabbed her weapons and ran up the nearest tree, but the vermin gathered at the base of the tree. When she reached the upper branches of the tree she realized that she was trapped! She could see no branches close enough she could reach or jump to. All she had was a bow, twenty arrows, and a canteen of water.
*****************************************************************
Tayo ran smack dab into skipper who was taking a walk outside. The fryer angrily swung his ladle but Tayo ducked and the ladle hit Skipper. The hug otter grabbed the friar by one ear and lifted him into the air, as The hare gleefully ran off to eat the stolen chestnuts.
"Not me the hare!" Chester shouted at Skipper
"Tayo did not hit me with a ladle, but you did!" the otter boomed
"That hare stole from my kitchen!" said the squirrel,
"That still doesn't explain you hitting me with the ladle." Skipper replied,
"I was aiming for the hare!" The fryer exclaimed,
"Well what are we waiting for then, lets get that thieving rabbit!" Skipper and Chester ran after Tayo planning what they would do when they caught him.

                                                                            Chapter 6
Hidden from view a badger watched as the guards chased Tulip to the tree. Thinking that enough was enough the badger, Erica was her name, drew her claymore and tensed her muscles ready to charge forward.
**********
Redtail was standing at the base of the tree when he heard the roar. It was earth shattering and as loud as a tidal wave. The vermin all looked over to see Erica running towards them with her claymore above her head and blood in her eyes. Rats, weasels, and stoats fled in every direction to escape the mad charge.
Erica battered her way through the vermin to the tree and hollered up to Tulip, "Jump onto my back! You can cover me with your bow as we make a run for it."
Tulip didn't know this badger but it was her best chance at escaping. Leaping down she landed on the creatures back. Erica started to run in the direction of Redwall Abbey. Their only hope of safety was within its walls. Tulip's bow sting twanged again and again as she loosed the last of her arrows.
**********
Calendula had stayed close to the back of the horde when the badger had charged, she could see that Erica was under the effects of bloodwrath. She shuddered inwardly at the terror of that charge but quickly chided herself for losing confidence. All creatures have a weakness, just because the badger is affected by bloodwrath does not mean she's invincible.
**********
Tayo ran out onto the lawns. He had a good lead on Skipper and Chester. His eyes flitted about trying find a hiding place where he could eat the candied chestnuts in peace.
"Wot ho, the old waterin' hole would make a jolly good hiding place with all those long reed thingys."
Tayo bounded over to the pond and sat down with his back to the water. The reeds hid him from view and he began to greedily munch of the chestnuts. As he sat there a shadow under the water came towards him, giving off small ripples.
**********
Skipper and Chester came out of the main abbey building.
"Are you sure you saw him go this way Skipper?"
"As sure as I can be."
"He could have slipped off upstairs." muttered Chester.
"You don't think I can find that bottomless pit?! First you whack me with that ladle of yours then you question my tracking abilities?"
Chester and Skipper were about to get into it when a yelp came from the pond.
"Yeowch! Bounders taken a bit of me blinkin' tail! Here you slimy scales give it back!"
Both the squirrel and otter raced over just in time to see the abbey fish disappear under the water with Tayo's tail in its teeth. Tayo himself was cluthing his behind and shouting insults to the water.
"You impolite excuse for a fish!"
"What's the trouble?" Skipper asked with a smile that he tried to hide.
"That rotters bit me tail off! Take a look!"
True enough where Tayo's tail should have been there was now a small stump that was barely distinguishable from the rest of his backside.
"Well matey, we'd better get you patched up then."
Chester attempted to puff out his chest, "Serves you right for trying to steal from my kitchens."

Chapter 7
Eventually, Log-a-log and Relelo eventually came pon the spot were they would have to come up on land "Alright, straight east to the abbey mate" The Guosim chieftain said.
Relelo kept his eyes straight east. "Then lets move," suddenly he heard a noise off to his right "wait, what's that" Gulva listened intently as did the other Guosim. Suddenly, a dart whizzed past the chieftain and hit another Guosim on the forehead.
Then a score of lizards appeared from tree cover "foolz , don't you this iz zcale tribe land"
Relelo aimed his bow at the speaker " We didn't, but can you let us pass and keep these boats here"
"yesss, for a price"
"What kind of price" asked Gulva
"Gold, valuables maybe food"
"We don't have anything of great value, but we have enough food"
"food iz not enough" the lizard yelled lifting his blowpipe to shoot the log-a-log. But Relelo was faster, the lizard was dead before the blowpipe touched it's mouth. The other lizards, terrified of their leader's demise, ran off into the trees.
"Thank you mate," the Guosim chieftain said "one more second and I've have a dart in my chest."
"Its no problem, i'd do the same for any goodbeast"

Chapter 8
Log-a-log was about to say that they ought to keep going when Erica crashed through the trees. She stopped suddenly in front of him. Her red eyes gleamed inches from his face and her snarl sounded loudly in his ears. Log-a-log had never truly feared anything in his life, but seeing this creature completely feral and uncontrollable terrified him.
"Erica!" Tulip shouted to the badger, climbing off her back and standing between Erica and Log-a-log. "Can't you see their shrews!"
The bloodwrath faded from her eyes and she was again aware of herself. She glanced about her, the cries of the vermin army became noticeable.
"We cannot stop here friends. We must make it to Redwall. I'll explain later." Erica took charge and swept up Tulip and placed her on to her back, "Hold on!"
Tulip grasped tightly to the Erica. The veins in the badgers neck bulged against Tulip's hold and she could feel Erica's pulse pounding. She had to keep her head down, half buried in Erica's fur to keep from being hit by the branches flying by. Log-a-log and the Guosim hurried to keep up with the fast pace.
****************
Tayo was shuffling along as he leaned against Skipper when his ears perked up. There was sounds of branches breaking and foliage rustling, consistent with a group running through the forest.
"Stop! Don't you hear that?"
" 'ear wat?" Skipper asked.
The hare didn't respond but instead bound away to the west gate.
A cry came from the other side of the sturdy doors. "Open the doors!"
Withing an instant the door were opened and Tayo looked upon the exhausted group of the Guosim, Erica, and Tulip.
"Well it's a blinkin party right on the Abbey doorstep! Come in then."

I shall continue the story

Chapter 9
Renzo, Erica's brother waited patiently for his sister's return. His sister and him had been help out woodlanders from the pain and suffering Calendula has caused.
They had following the fox for a long time, out of vengeance for their parents and others slain by Calendula.
This time Erica was taking longer than usual, they had found a slain family of squirrels but the twins had not been with them. Long ago, he remembered visiting the family and seeing the twin squirrels as babes. It occurred to him that Erica saw the vermin camp and charged them in hatred, she could get hot-headed sometimes. He decided to look for her. He made the sign they had taught each other and picked up the supplies then headed off in the direction she went, Scythe in hand.
0000000000

Calendula had seen the guosim and their friends and was annoyed, but still, her ceaseless wandering would come to an end. Bloodtail, a clever captain in Canendula's horde looked upon Redwall with his leader. "I understand these are peaceful creatures Bloodtail?"
"Yes my empress," said Bloodtail in his silky voice " they might even give up their abbey if we show our force to them"
