Question:
is peach a citrus
Option 1: of course it is
Option 2: what your crazy no it isnt
ok i'm confused is it a citrus(just be silly about it but realy whats your opinon)
Contrary to common claims, a peach is in fact a citrus.
It is said that characteristics of citrus fruits is that they are sour, and that they have many seeds, rather than just one, and that they are divided into segments, and that somehow this prohibits the peach from qualifying as a citrus. However, think about this: Oranges, grapefruits, lemons, etc. do not sell as well and are not as popular as peaches. Thus, it stands to reason that they would be prejudiced against the common peach and try to invent excuses to keep it from getting into the roster. This is not at all a scientific motivation; rather it is clearly part of a conspiracy against peaches.
We know that the peach is a citrus fruit because it is juicy. As my good friends the Yeti, Bigfoot, and the Loch Ness Monster can attest, "Cit" is the ancient Atlantean word for "water", and "rus" means "full of". Thus, "citrus" means "full of water".
We see this is accurate because neither apples nor bananas are citrus fruits, and they aren't full of water. Peaches, like oranges and watermelons, are both.
Hence, yes, the peach clearly is a citrus fruit.
(P.S.: None of this, except for the description of citrus fruit characteristics, is true.)
Oh. I did not know that.
I learned something cool! Something cool today! I learned it upside down and inside out! I learned all about...Peaches! ;D
Just in case there's any confusion, I was just kidding around. ;)
WHAT?! OK., never mind, than...
The bits about fruits being prejudiced, the conspiracy, mythical creatures, and "citrus" being an Atlantis word for "full of water" were intended to kind of tip people off. ;)
Shouldn't this go in the Cellars?
realy i thought it would go here
I'm guessing this isn't for serious discussion since the original post said to "just be silly about it" so I moved it to the cellars.
Hahaha, James, that's hilarious!

Really? Where did you look it up?
You can't always trust wikipedia... ;)
I'm pretty sure it is.
It is. I just looked it up on Google. :P I voted.
*coughs and raises a hand* For the sake of my OCD mind, I would like to lay down some non-Internet gleaned facts.
From the Peanut Gallery (aka the person who has a ##:1046 in Biology with an emphasis in Ecology and Evolution and has done a substantial amount of study in plants):
Citrus: A citrus fruit is a hesperidium, which is a sort of berry that has a rind around things called liths (the segments you see when you cut up an orange) that are filled with "pouches" called vesicles. (I'm not even going to get into the development of these different parts of the fruit, because that will take far longer than I have at the moment).
Peach: A peach is a drupe. Drupes have an exocarp (skin) that surrounds a pit of sorts of what's called endocarp that contains a seed. The endocarp is usually hardened.
A big difference between the two is that citrus plants are evergreen, while the plants that bear peaches are not evergreen. Also, in the development of the fruits, different parts of the flower become different parts of the fruit.
There you have it. Colloquially, peaches may be considered citrus, but when you get into the actual phylogeny of the plants, they are not closely related.
peach is a citrus it has been a disagreemant for years i say it is

This is about PEACHES, fool!
Let us ask the true question... "Are mangoes peaches?"
NO.
N. O.
NO.
"Are mangoes peaches?"
Yes. Mangoes are, surprisingly, the first type of peach discovered by the Native Americans in 1932.
After humans got the technology to biologically alter peaches to a flavor, shape, and texture which they preferred, mangoes did have their name changed from "peaches" to "mangoes" to try and hinder confusion.
But mangoes are indeed peaches. In fact, they were the original peaches.
This finding of the original Mango, according to some sources. Is predated by the 1453 discovery of the Fruit of the Emperor in the ruins of Constantinople. The Fruit of the Emperor was a scepter, which a mango topped. This artifact has since been lost. But according to the Court Historian of the Emperor Constantine XI, and the little history passed down from the Ottoman Turks, this fruit was taken by Mehmed the Conqueror. But famine struck the Turks and the mango was consumed by Mehmed.
The reason that tales of this mango had not been told before the fall of Constantinople was that the secret of the mango was jealously guarded. When Venice attacked and sacked Constantinople in the beginning of the Fourth Crusade, the palace guards made a last stand around the room (whose name is not remembered.) that contained the mango. When the Venetians finally broke through it was discovered that the mango was gone. A stable boy had discovered it by chance and fled, keeping the mango to return it to the Emperor when the Venetians eventually left. This stable boy was eventually rewarded extensively, the land and titles. But upon receiving these rewards, the stable boy was so elated that he instantly died, the joy of such a moment had overpowered him. This is all the history we know of the Fruit of the Emperor.

Thus, "citrus" means "full of water".We see this is accurate because neither apples nor bananas are citrus fruits, and they aren't full of water. Peaches, like oranges and watermelons, are both.Hence, yes, the peach clearly is a citrus fruit.

Okay, in answer to her question, very easily. (though it might depend on what she's talking about)
What that's from is a speech she gave at the U.N. over climate change. Apparently (I haven't watched the videos) she says that several times.

I might not agree with most of these politicians and how they run their countries, but a country is an awfully large entity to oversee, without dealing with climate change legislation.
Ah, I see. Back on topic, what is your favourite kind of peach?
Probably the Georgia peaches. They're rather nearby, fair-sized, and are the typical peach. If you are asking what their scientific name is, then I have no idea.
Nice! My favourite kind of peach is probably Golden Queen.
Moine iz Edible.
