Title: Mafia: Lie or Die
Post by: Rosie Willowwater on March 30, 2018, 03:26:49 AM
You have been called in by the CPWH Inc. (Crazy Psycologist with Henchmen Incorporated) to take part in an experiment. You were sitting in your dorm one day, doing what you do best (wasting countless hours of your day scrolling through various sites on your computer) when an ad pops up that catches your attention. "NEED QUICK, EASY CASH? SIGN UP FOR THIS EASY AND relatively HARM FREE EXPERIMENT AND WE'LL GIVE YOU $5,000! CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP TODAY". Intrigued, and very much in need of money (being a broke college student), you jump on the chance to get some easy money. You sign up, and in one week's time you are in front of the CWPH Inc.'s headquarters. The building wasn't the most inviting place, with bars on the windows and towering walls reaching higher and farther than you could see. That didn't stop you though. You weren't about to come all the way out here for nothing. Once you enter, you see a small waiting room, not unlike one you would find at a doctor's office. No one was there, which struck you as odd, but again, no turning back now. There's a fancy looking computer on the far wall to the right, strongly clashing with the outdated look of the rest of the room. After looking closer you notice that this computer has a large block of text covering most of the screen, directing you to where to go for the experiment, with various "turn left" and "turn right"s. Since you know you would never remember any of that, you decide to wait until someone comes in the room. I mean, this is where they said to meet, right? Ten minutes go by, then twenty, then thirty. At this point you are pretty fed up and decide to march through the door to the surrounding hallways and walk until you find someone to talk to about all this. You have been walking through these identical hallways for a while, no doors in sight, when it suddenly ends, and you see a large door in front of you. Getting tired of all these mysteries you fling open the door to a small room with a fold-able table and chair, and a button sitting atop the table. You sit down and press the big red button and you hear someone's voice on the speakers overhead...

~~~
Welcome to Lie or Die! This isn't the first mafia I've made, but that one sorta petered out after a while, so what better to do than make another and hope that one doesn't fail as well?
Old Mafia: http://www.redwallabbey.com/forum/index.php?topic=9785.0 (http://www.redwallabbey.com/forum/index.php?topic=9785.0)
This new one will be set up a lot like the old one, where you have to post anonymously as your character, and you get colors. It'll all be explained why in the first story post.
Oh, and each of you will be messaged your role once the game starts as what you individually hear on the speaker.
Make sense? Probably not, so feel free to ask as many questions as you want.
Boredom. Even with the horror that all the subjects had just faced, boredom crept over them all as they sat in their elevators, waiting for the doors to open. Though it was not known to them, they were waiting on all the other subjects to finally arrive. Doing so took nearly three hours and to most felt like almost twenty.
"I knew it would have been a better idea to try and kick down the door" Indigo said to themselves. They were sitting with their back leaning on the door, when suddenly it opened and they gave a big screech as they tumbled out of the elevator and into the middle of what at first glance looked like a giant white room, about the size of a small town. Once they were no longer blinded by the sudden change in light, they realized that this was actually a maze, made entirely from pure white marble, with walls double their height. There were many other old looking elevators lined up next to each other's, Indigo's being the second to last next to someone else in the same outfit, the only difference being a bright purple mask covering their face. They looked to their right and saw even more people in the same outfit, in order from red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. They all stared at one another, and you could just feel the tension in the air.
"Where are we? Who are all of you? Why are we here?" Orange said, hyperventilating and looking frantically around.
Red started to pace around the center of the maze, "I have no idea where we are. I mean... we're in this stupid building, CWPH Inc. Headquarters or something. I have no idea what that stands for though or why we're in this insanely bright room, but I do know I should never have trusted that Psychologist guy in the first place." They slumped to the floor cross-legged and continued talking about what had led them to this point until Yellow cut them off abruptly.
"What can we do about anything though? No point sulking, I did enough of that while waiting in the elevator. Let's actually try and get something done and get out of here," Yellow looked around and stopped for a moment, "starting with finding where the other four went."
***
"I get that we needed to get going, but did we really have to slink away like that? We could have easily interrupted them and it would have been fine." Purple remarked after they, with Blue, Green, and Indigo, had been walking through the maze for a little while. Blue had tapped them all on the shoulder and motioned them to one of the doorways into the maze while Red was talking. They had followed, not wanting to anger any potential rivals.
"Trust me, it's much easier this way. Plus, now there are a lot less people to keep track of, and a lot less people to get lost." Blue said and started to walk backwards facing the group as they walked.
"I guess that makes sense. Smart thinking." Green remarked half heartedly, but their voice suddenly became much more urgent when they rounded the corner. "Blue! Stop! Turn around!"  They shrieked, and reached out their hand to grab Blue's and pull them back. Right in front of them was a giant pit as wide as the hallway, but as deep as a 4 story building, with stepping stones scattered across it, connecting to the walls.
"Seriously, be careful! You could have fallen and died right then!" Green pulled all three of them back around the corner and sat down, right as Red, Orange, and Yellow rounded the corner.
"Are you okay? We heard shouting and came running." Red noted the wide-eyed panic on everyone's faces and followed their gaze to the pit. "I... are we... are we meant to cross that thing? I don't think a single one of us would be able to pass it!"
"Well, this is something we can deal with in the morning, I haven't slept in forever, so I'm going to bed and any of you can join me. " Orange got as far away as they could from the deathtrap, and lay down on the hard marble floor. Purple joined them as well and slowly the rest of them followed. Unsettling though that day had been, they were very tired from it all and welcomed the rest with pleasure.
Red had been lying awake for the past couple hours, contemplating their situation. The future they would all have to endure. Thoughts like those are draining, and after a while they got tired of laying half awake. They sat up quietly and put their chin on their knees and their back to the wall.
"Couldn't sleep, could you?" Blue whispered. They had been doing the same as Red, though they did get themselves to dose off once or twice.
"Mhmmm. I'm not usually too bad with sleeping, but way too much has happened today. I'm scared. Really, really scared. If that pit of despair is the first obstacle we encounter, then what's next? They probably just get worse, and worse, and worse, and I don't think I'm smart, or strong enough to get through it all." Red said, their voice raising slightly, but to their knowledge not enough to wake the others. "Funny how getting less sleep won't help any of that."
"Hey, I completely understand. To be honest I'm just as terrified as you. Why do you think I'm up right now?" Blue whispered as they watched Red sigh and rub their eyes. "But is there a point to which it is unhealthy to pass. Dwelling won't help you at all, but if you try and think rationally I think you would be able to get past most any obstacle here."
"Awwwww, so sweeeeet" Green said lying on their stomach with their chin on their hands, at a volume most definitely not fit for so deep in the night. "And very valid points there, Blue. Even if we all will probably go a bit insane from this, it is much better than panicking and getting hurt. " Green had been up listening to their conversation through most of the night, since they too had been having near horrible thoughts about what could happen to them.
"Yeah... sure. " Blue mumbled, surprised and annoyed by the sudden eavesdropper "Well, um, anyway, we should probably wake the others up and keep going if we don't want to get stuck down here."
Soon they were all awake and alternatively sitting and standing in a circle next to the pit. "Alright, I think the best way to go about this is to go across in pairs. I think Purple and I would work best together, and I'm decently agile so if I mess up you will all know that that step was rigged in some way of course. " Orange looked at the people around them and pointed with their two fingers, "Yellow and Green, you two can go together, and Blue and Red, and then..." The paused staring at Indigo.
"Huh? Oh! Don't worry about me, I should be fine on my own." They said, smiling... until they realized that no one could see any of their facial expressions with the mask on. "Plus, if I go by myself that means I can go at my own pace, right?"
"Alright, that makes sense." Yellow looked around at the others, "I think we're ready."
Purple and Orange leapt across the pit with surprising ease, jumping from each slab with caution, but not fear. "See? I told you I'm good at this. Now Yellow and Green, you two can go."
Yellow and Green followed with similar ease, and so did Red and Blue, though Blue was able to get across a bit faster than Red, since they were a bit more hesitant to leap across the ones on their side.
"Ready, Indigo? Don't worry, it's not as scary as it looks, just don't look down." Yellow said, and you could hear their warm smile in their voice.
Indigo nodded silently and leapt to the first slab carefully, trying their hardest to stay looking forward, though their instinct was telling them to look straight down. Then to the second, a bit more confidently this time, though the embarrassment of being the only one who struggled this much was starting to creep in. Then, in a sudden glance, they looked down. They saw what felt like miles of deep, dark, nothingness below them.
"That... that's a lot of... space...." They stuttered, staring down still.
"Hey, hey, it's gonna be okay. Just look back up. There is only one slab left, you can do it!" Yellow cheered again, with the same smile in their voice.
Indigo nodded again, and slowly got themselves to jump to the last one, but their legs were shaking so much that they couldn't stay stable on the slab, and slipped.
Throughout the screaming and the panic, Red, being the closest to them was able to reach over and at the last second grab their hand.
"Hey, I need you to pull up with all your strength on the count of three. One... two-"
But before they could say any more, they felt something push them, and the added weight of Indigo weighing them down was too much. They tumbled down headfirst into the abyss.
They all stared at the pit, shocked, and scared, then back up to the others, who had formed something resembling a half circle around the two when Indigo first slipped.
"Are... are they..." Blue muttered, barely able to speak more than a mumble.
"I think so..."
They all stared in shock at each other "What now?"
Night 1
Red Doctor (Dead)
Indigo Townie, shnoodlec (Dead)
shnoodlec was killed since she is absent this month. The Mafia did not choose to kill her.
If you would like to post after you die, please keep it anonymous and in color. Thank you :)
Two Mafia alive, one Doctor dead.
You may now converse on who you think is Mafia. If you have a final decision, please put it in bold at the end of your post. Unless something changes, I will end voting August 5th.
Oh no, our doctor is dead. Looks like we are all going to die if we don't get to the bottom of this soon. Blue seems very suspicious to me. They led half the group away in the very beginning, which is suspicious in and of itself, but then also they went across the pit with Red and got there before Red did. Meaning they would be in a prime position to push them off into the void. And even before that, they had stayed up in the night, probably thinking about who they were going to have to kill. They realized that Red would be a nuisance to them if they stayed around any longer, and decided to fix that problem. I'd still like to know what you guys think though, does Blue seem as suspicious to you as they do to me?
Like yellow points out, things aren't going very well for the townies.  With the doctor dead, every single future mafia kill will be successful.  With Shnood also dead, the mafia/town ratio is even more dangerous...
I don't remember if this has already been mentioned, but is there a detective, or another special role?
Anyway I'll have to reread the post at some point to try to identify clues.
Well, my observations on this is that you have four key people ahead before Red was pushed, those being Yellow, Green, Purple and Orange, as well as I. Though, would make very little sense for me to be the culprit in killing Red, as I seemingly became annoyed by Green and warmed up to Red. Anyway, I feel that the pairings may or may not be the pair of Mafia. Would be easy enough to have the two be together as to make sure both are safe at all times, but also to both gain an advantage on the others by being ahead. On the flip side, they could have split up for that very reason. If one pair ends up dying due to an obstacle, then one still will remain. Plus, killing would be plenty slier by spreading around to a larger group instead of pairing up. I'm not sure as to what idea I lean towards, but my feeling is two of the four I mentioned are indeed the Mafia. Yellow seems off for me though. A "warm smile" is a fairly nice detail, pushing the thought towards being a doctor, but also a facade to seemingly being much nicer than others, leading on to killing being a total opposite of her. With that, I also think Green may be a culprit simply because of being close enough to Red. I do find it odd that neither Purple nor Orange were mentioned to have the same fear as both Myself, Red, Green, and Indigo. Hiding not only their emotions but also having them be rather agile and leaders which the rest trusted, makes them almost have the group in the palm of their hands. I feel as though I am perhaps looking way farther into the dialogue than I should be. Plus, I realize a lot of this probably is just the way it is written and all, but hey, got consider just about everything. Though, I realize my "pointing out that everyone probably is the Mafia besides me" points aren't the best for my case, but I feel that taking a look into other options would show that I'm a much weaker option than the others.
You have pointed out why everyone else could be the mafia, but you haven't given yourself an alibi as to why you couldn't be the mafia, now that there is suspicion towards you. My only other thought would be Green, but that would be too obvious. I still stand by my vote of Blue. You were annoyed at Green because they interrupted you. Who wouldn't be annoyed? But if you are the mafia, I doubt Green would also be the mafia, since they would know that Blue would be the only one they could trust. Also, the mafia would by trying to make themselves look less suspicious by relating to the other's fears, even though they might have ulterior motives. They wouldn't want to antagonize themselves in front of everyone like that. Orange could be another suspect, or they could just be a good leader and trying not to die. I feel like the mafia would stand by until they see an opening, then pounce.
I vote Blue.
You know, Yellow, I was thinking Orange as a likely suspect as well. They didn't say anything at all until they started pairing us up, and they seemed to be super confident about getting across. And then when they were pairing us up it seemed so theatrical, the way they "realized" that there was an odd number and one of us would have to go by themselves - Poor Indigo.
I haven't decided yet, but I'm thinking Blue or Orange.
This could be a trap.  You could be pretending to be friendly towards Red to draw attention away from yourself; since Red trusts you, you could catch them by surprise and kill them more easily.
Green makes some valid points about Orange, but I still have mixed feelings.  Since they are the part of the first pair to cross, if there was a trap, they would trigger it and their Mafia partner would be alone.  I think it would probably make more sense for the Mafia to let someone else go first to check for traps, before crossing themselves.  Let's wait to see what Orange have to say in their defence.
Green is pretty quiet in the story, there doesn't seem to be any clues related to them.  While they do talk with Blue in the story, their latest post says they are considering voting for Blue, so it seems unlikely the two of them would be Mafia partners.
My current vote is BLUE for the reasons Yellow stated.  I might change my vote depending on future posts.
Honestly, I would vote for myself if I could. All of the evidence points back to me. I was close enough by Red, supposedly had a "motive" to kill them even though I still hardly doubt that, pointed out why everyone else could be, tried to shove the blame away from me, it all makes sense. I guess I merely worded it all wrong, plus I'm doomed with a very small alibi. The most I can say, to refute one of your points, is that I really do think I am a great choice to pick. Yet, there is the problem; I'm simply not. Really, you just gotta take my word on it. Say I'm not trying to make myself look less likely here, and that my picking out of everyone truly came from a deep inner passion to see us all succeed? Perhaps even, the reason for it, was because I was a primary target, just as I said near the end of my original post. I don't really see much more i can say to defend myself here. If you all vote me, it will be a horrible, tragic loss, I am telling you. Though, I do have my suspicions. You, Yellow, were awfully quick to point out I was a target, maybe trying to shift all the spotlight away from you, to get the ball rolling in the opposite direction. Though, then again, you may have just been trying to deduce what you could from the story. Then again, I do find that you didn't really defend yourself either, instead choosing to force more blame upon me and others. Still, besides you, I feel my vote will go to either Orange or Purple, simply because of what I stated earlier.
You are right, I didn't not defend myself, but you were the only person even a little suspicious of me so I didn't not find the need. I am just trying to figure this out before more people get killed. In the beginning I would have had to blame someone and I would have never blamed myself. You say it will be a tragic loss, but we have already lost our one doctor, so it will either be a townie, and I agree innocent life is terrible to lose, but you could be a mafia pulling at all the last possible straws in an attempt to save your self since you see that many people are blaming you. -Yellow
First off if I was a mafia I would not want to go first no matter how skillful I was it would be easier to stay back and kill those who go before me. It seems strange though that I am shown as fearful maybe even reckless and I wouldn't blame anybody for voting against me. Blue seems to be a very likely suspect if I were a mafia I would be trying to figure out who is fearful and therefore more prone to not react as well to a threat. Blue is also quite jumpy and annoyed when green surprises her/him. Blue is the first person to react to the deaths also interesting.Green is not very suspicious in my opinion but is keeping a fairly low profile and green is shown listening in on a conversation possibly to assist blue if things go wrong. Purple like me is one of the first to go and I don't see how she/he could have killed red but purple could have been keeping a low profile while her/his partner was finishing off red. Last thing  I want to say that yellow seems happy to let Indigo go on her own and then seems to be paying attention to her more than to green, also yellow recovers soon after the deaths and doesn't act very panicked unlike blue. Let it also be noted that yellow is quick to defend herself/himself and doesn't offer any  reason why it could have been them. I vote forbluebecause of the reasons previously stated.
Well, I guess I can't say all too much at this point except it's all downhill from here unless a miracle happens. If y'all want the best chances of winning, I say change your votes from me, but, I mean, that won't be happening. You'll see soon enough that this whole time I've been in both the clear and the right. Though, I guess I do have to vote, so I'll go ahead and vote for Orange unless they can prove otherwise. If so, I'll vote Yellow. Good knowing you all!
I really don't know what to make of Blue's posts.  Perhaps they really ARE innocent and hope to convince us to let them live.  Or maybe they are Mafia who, realizing that pointing out clues and such isn't getting anywhere, have resorted to an emotional appeal.  I'm kinda leaning towards the second option, based on similar situations I encountered in previous Mafia games.
I might end up regretting this, but my vote goes to Blue.
The horrible reality of what just happened started to sink in and they all glanced at each other in terror.
"Did anyone see how they fell?" Blue remarked slightly shakily, furrowing their brow.
"Of course we did Blue, everyone saw them fall. We all have eyes." Purple snapped.
"No, I mean that they had perfect balance before they fell, and Indigo didn't move in any way to offset that balance. They must have been pushed. Their death wasn't an accident."
"You were paying an awful lot of attention to what Red was doing if you were able to make that deduction, Blue. How do we know that you weren't the one who supposedly pushed them over?" Yellow was not usually one to accuse someone of murder, but we all have slight personality changes when we are pushed into a deadly maze.
"Why would I even point it out, then? That would just be drawing attention to myself." Blue's heart started to race. This is not how they wanted this to go.
"Maybe you are more steps ahead of us than you want us to think. You seem to be pretty suspicious, taking us away from the group, and now accusing someone else of murder."
"Hey, how do we know you're not some sort of serial killer? The ad wasn't exactly meant to keep us safe, all it asked for was our name." Green interjected, thinking back on what felt like years ago when they first were sitting on their bed on their computer. Back to when life was simple. "Take off your mask."
"What?" Blue took a step back from the group, their heart beating even faster now.
"If you have nothing to hide, you should be fine with taking it off, right?" Green followed Blue, and took a couple steps forward.
"Hey, I don't have to listen to you, Green. I don't have to take my mask off to "prove" I'm not some sort of murderer, because I know I'm not."
Before Blue could turn around to run away, Purple dove forward and grabbed their mask and pulled it off in one swift motion, breaking the band holding the mask in place. The mask buzzed with electricity, and the other four watched in horror as Blueflopped over the side of the pit, joining Red and Indigo.
Purple screeched and threw the mask as far away as possible, but in doing so, ripped off a flimsy sticker on the inside of the mask. They watched it flutter to the ground and stared at it for a second while the other three were freaking out.
"What is happening here? You could have just killed an innocent person! " Yellow stomped towards Purple frowning until they noticed what they had in their hand. Recognizing it from their own mask, they grabbed it and scanned the list of words and numbers until they got to the part they wanted to find.
"Test Subject 7-15-14-6-6
#11601
Blue
Test #7
Passive"
"See? They were innocent! Now I don't know if I can trust you, either!" Yellow aggressively took a step closer towards Purple, and would have continued until they realized how close to the edge both of them were and backed off.
"Hey, it was just an accident Yellow. They were doing it out of self defense, and I'm sure by the way you were accusing Blue, you would have done the same thing. Let's just all calm down and forgive. This is already a really scary situation, we don't need another innocent death on our hands. I'm going to keep walking and get out of here and anyone who wants to survive can join me."
Orange spun around and marched off. The other two eyed each other and reluctantly followed, with Green in tow, still in shock after all that had happened.
They rounded many corners and came to a couple dead ends at times, but generally their trek was peaceful, minus the constant fear of each other they all experienced. They were all too scared to speak, lest anything they said was taken the wrong way and they would be added to the pile at the bottom of the pit.  After about an hour of walking in silence, they found a room, not unlike the one they first entered with the elevators. The only difference was the beds lining the the walls to the left and right of them, and the large table in the middle piled with all the food you could ever want.
"Should we eat that? It might be poisoned or something." Green said as they took the first opportunity they could to lie on a real bed for the first time in what felt like weeks.
"I don't know about you guys, but I don't think I can survive very much longer without food. So it's either starve or get poisoned, and I think it's better to take the safer option." Yellow said while picking up a plate and filling it with all the taco salad they could.
"Alright, that logic is good enough for me." Orange ran to the other side of the table and started taking some slices of salmon.
Purple and Green followed along and took some salad and stuffed peppers respectively.
After they each finished their meals they  decided to head to bed as soon as possible and  quickly dove under the covers, feeling the protection of the thin flimsy cloth.
"You guys stay safe, alright? You never know what could be a trap"'
Day 2?
Blue Townie (Dead)
Two Mafia alive, One Doctor dead.
Mafia please PM me with who you want to kill.
Also, how do you guys feel about giving the townies a fighting chance and letting the person who was killed last get to vote and debate too next round?
Oooh, nice update. I just wish we were farther into getting out alive, seeing as there are still two mafia and only two townies left. Seeing as it is impossible for the townies to win now, no matter what, I think we have to let some ghosts come back to help. The ghosts would have no advantage of knowledge, we just need more votes so the mafia don't gang up on the townies and kill them all off in one fell swoop. - Yellow
Hmm...turns out Blue really was innocent...
This is pretty bad, since half the survivors are Mafia, and one of them will die tonight.  Allowing at least some ghosts to vote would be the Town's only chance.  But then, assuming that we vote out a Mafia tomorrow, we would be down to two players, one Mafia and one innocent.  Wouldn't the last Mafia then kill the last innocent?  I'm a bit confused...
The snores of the group could be heard throughout the giant maze, bouncing off the marble walls. Though they did not know it, having no signs of the outside world, it was quite deep into the night. Snoring wasn't the only sound heard though, for Someone had awoken, making a large ruckus in their journey towards the table of food.
"What are you doing?" Green whispered, "Can you please quiet down and go back to bed?" They had been lying on their back and staring at the ceiling for a while at that point, and while the noise was not disrupting any sleep, they would much rather have had some quiet.
Someone span around suddenly, startled by both the voice and Green themself. They had picked up the kitchen knife used to cut meat and pointed it at Green.
"What's the matter with you? I was only asking that you quiet down!" Green sat up, staring at the person in the mask in front of them, silently creeping closer
They lunged at Green as they lept from the bed and scrambled out of the room, not even chancing to look back and see if the maniac was still following them.
***
If it was any other morning, the group would have woken up to the sun shining brightly in the sky, while others walked around their campuses in large scarves and mittens. But sadly, it was blindingly white marble walls whose "rays" woke the three.
Yellow sat on their bed, staring at the floor as they heard Orange finishing off the last of the food left on the table.
"Couldn't get much sleep, huh? Me either. I think sounds really echo in such a big area as this, don't you?" Orange grabbed a bowlful of salad and scarfed it down.
"Sure..." Yellow mumbled, then looked up "I see you are hungry. Any chance you can save some for me? One meal in nearly two days really isn't enough to live on."
Nodding, Orange handed them what seemed to be a thanksgiving feast.
"Oh, well thanks I guess." Yellow said, feeling oddly at ease.
That did not last long, as Yellow heard Purple's voice in the distance, calling out something that they couldn't fully understand. "Green, did you hear that?"  They said loudly, turning to where Green had laid down to sleep. "Oh no..."
Yellow and Orange rushed out the room towards Purple's voice, which they had realized had been yelling Green's name, but it did not take long to find what they were all looking for.
"Purple!" Yellow shouted shrilly, "We found Green..."
Purple barreled towards their voice, and was soon right in front of them. "Really? Are they okay?" They said, breathless and frantically looking around until they saw what had happened.
Lying  two strides away, there was Green themself. Frozen with their eyes wide, and their mouth open in horror. Green's mask was lying face down on the floor.
Night 2
Green Townie (Dead)
Two Mafia alive, One Doctor dead.
Blue, Green, Purple, Yellow, and Orange are the ones who can vote for Mafia this round.
I am sorry how bad and short this is. :P
Title: Re: Mafia: Lie or Die
Post by: Anonymous on December 22, 2018, 03:43:29 AM
Not bad at all Rosie! Only bad for me, because I am likely going to die in the next two rounds because I am now vastly out numbered. But that wasn't your fault, right? ;)
rant about how I am not the mafia that probably doesn't help my case but I am putting in here anyway
Okay. So. I have made my case many times before. And most of you believed me then. And I was wrong. Very wrong. But now, I literally cannot fail because there are only two other people left alive and both have to be mafias. And I know this is something a mafia would say to get people off their back after killing a lot of innocents (I am not helping my case I'm sorry) (but actually in their own posts neither of them ever made truly strong arguments against anyone else, I was always one of the ones to start an argument, and they would agree because it wouldn't include one of them so it was easier to let it play out in their favor. Also, look back at their posts where either one was being questioned. Notice how neither one will willingly condemn the other. Clear sign of them not wanting to throw the other under the bus.) Now that I know the other two are mafias, reading the second half of that story made their deceivingly caring acts so much more nerve racking. I quote, "Yellow said, feeling oddly at ease." I have emotions. That aren't death or guilt. Also, the second half of the story is told more from my perspective, because only my feelings can be truly shown, since either of the other's thoughts would tip them off. Also, I quote, from previous story, " Yellow was not usually one to accuse someone of murder." I wouldn't even accuse someone, let alone actually commit it.
Also also, to quote a reliable source of a dead townie, Blue, " I do find it odd that neither Purple nor Orange were mentioned to have the same fear as both Myself, Red, Green, and Indigo. Hiding not only their emotions but also having them be rather agile and leaders which the rest trusted, makes them almost have the group in the palm of their hands."
[close]
Purple was only seen in this scene out, away from the scene of the crime, and away from prying eyes where they could compose themselves and return with a reasonable alibi and countenance that would not betray their intentions. They knew they couldn't be the first at the crime because that would start people pointing fingers. Only me really, since I am the only one with fingers left to point. (that sounds like something happened to everyone else's fingers :P) They have been very stoic this entire time, and keeping to the sidelines of all of the events in the past to throw off suspicion. Emotionless.
Orange was only concerned about food, and was up and about long enough to have surely noticed Green's absence, and Purple's absence as well, especially since they are partners and would want to be keeping tabs on the other's whereabouts and well being to know that they can be relied on. Orange must have been in on the murder to not have said anything. I was barely waking up, still on my bed.
I don't care which one dies, just one of them. Both preferably, but that is not how this voting works. I am not going to put one over the other to show that I truly do not have any alliances with either, and just want the mafia dead like any townie would. plzdontkillme
Also sorry this post is really long,661 words to be exact I wanted to get everything out on the table and not miss anything major.
I also debated on whether to wait until someone else posts, but this will prove even more that I work alone.
Title: Re: Mafia: Lie or Die
Post by: Anonymous on December 26, 2018, 12:10:17 AM
The story is great Rosie ^-^
Yellow suggests that I might have killed Green.  I admit that the fact that I was away from the other two gave me a perfect opportunity to commit the crime.  However, if I had just killed someone, would I really be shouting their name?  Of course not.  I would try to remain as quiet as possible so I don't attract attention.  I don't know that Yellow and Orange are awake until they catch up with me.  For all I know, I could have just woken them up and given myself away.
The fact is simply that I woke up first, noticed Green's absence and went to search for them.  But I was too late to save them...
Yellow says in their post that they "felt oddly at ease", quoting the story.  I don't see how this proves their innocence.  Maybe they felt at ease simply because they were alone with their mafia partner.
I don't see how Yellow being the first to post indicates their innocence either.  In a few past games of mafia, the mafia posted first in an attempt at drawing suspicion towards someone else and, therefore, away from them.  The first person to be accused is often the one to get voted out.
I do admit that it's suspicious that Orange didn't notice my or Green's absence until after hearing me shout.  While Yellow didn't notice either, Orange had been up longer and had more opportunities to do so.  If they did notice our absence, they didn't seem too concerned, or in any hurry to tell Yellow.
There are only three people still alive now, and everyone maintains that they are innocent.  This means that both mafias will have to express suspicion towards their own partner.  Both me and Yellow accuses both other players, but only one of us three can be innocent.  And that one is me, with Yellow and Orange being the mafia.
Like Yellow said, we can only kill one person.  I guess, therefore, the ghost voters will have to vote for the one they believe the most likely to be mafia.  You shouldn't take only one member's word for who is innocent, since everyone says it's them.  Look at everyone's posts and see who looks the most suspicious.
Also, like I did with Green, I managed to figure out Yellow's forum identity.  Sorry :-\
Nothing I say will change the minds of those who believe me to be a mafia, so therefore I will not make a case for my innocence, but let you decide for yourselves.
Honestly, I think Yellow said just about all there is about why Orange is the best bet here. I was gonna go further in depth like I have been earlier, but, well, my previous posts and Yellow's all speak for themselves. Thus, I'm going to vote Orange
Title: Re: Mafia: Lie or Die
Post by: Anonymous on December 29, 2018, 06:36:46 PM
*Thoughtful hum* I wasn't sure who to vote for, and went back over Rosie's post (as well as my fellow players' posts) multiple times carefully. Then I noticed an interesting bit in the story:
for Someone had awoken, making a large ruckus in their journey towards the table of food.
And then, later, we have this little tidbit:
Nodding, Orange handed them what seemed to be a thanksgiving feast.
Could Orange have been making the food when they got on my nerves? Very possible. This could mean one of two things: Either Orange is Mafia, and really hungry, or Orange is a fellow Townie, and still very hungry. Either way Orange is hungry and now I am too. :P What do ghosts eat, I wonder?
Anyway, back to my point.
I don't remember Blue and Yellow's previous posts about Orange and, frankly, I'm too lazy to look right now. I do find the way that they're neither confirming nor denying being Mafia, or trying to defend themselves, interesting, though.
I'm going to go with Orange
Title: Re: Mafia: Lie or Die
Post by: Anonymous on January 01, 2019, 12:36:46 AM
Not sure why Orange didn't even try to defend themselves.  In past games, I've seen something like this in two circumstances:
1: they're mafia and they know they're doomed.
2: they lost interest in the game and hope to be killed off/voted out.
Might be a mixture of both here.
I vote for Orange.  With Blue and Green also voting for them, a majority has been achieved.
Yellow, Orange, and Purple stood in silence for an uncomfortably long time, staring at Green's lifeless body.
"Oh dear, quite a stalemate now, whatever will you do to save yourselves?" remarked the Crazy Psychologist's voice over the speakers that surrounded the corners of the labyrinth, which the group barely barely gave a moment's thought.
"Alright, I can't just forgive something like this again. Green clearly did not die by accident. One of you must have taken their mask off." Yellow  said, their voice trembling slightly.
"Alright Yellow, I don't know what that Psychologist guy told you before you got into the elevator, but this isn't some innocent experiment." Orange said defensively "Purple and I were told that we could only trust each other, and only two people would be able to exit the labyrinth alive. I don't know about Purple, but I didn't want to be one of the people left behind."
Yellow clenched their fists, clearly fuming "I was told that too but I wasn't going to go along with it! I don't think you truly realize what a mistake you have made. Don't you care about those people you just killed?" Yellow stood frozen for a moment as they watched Orange and Purple intently, searching for any signs of attack.
Purple moved up to Yellow and put a hand on their shoulder, not realizing the great threat they posed to them."Hey, hey, it's okay. We don't have to do that anymore."
"That doesn't change the fact that it happened!" Yellow snapped, their voice getting shrill.
"Look, I understand that I shouldn't have killed Green, but there is nothing I can do about it now. Let's just move on, Yellow." Orange said exasperatedly, taking a couple steps closer to Yellow.
"So it was you!" Yellow screeched, turning their attention on Orange. With the two people they knew to be murderers so close to them, Yellow started to panic and swiped at Orange, pushing them away and nearly knocking off their mask as well.
Orange stood frozen, terrified at how close they were to meeting the same fate as Green, for they saw Yellow as just as dangerous as Orange was to them. To protect themself, they turned and ran away from the others.
When they were out of sight, the Psychologist's speakers could be heard again, along with what sounded like the crunching of popcorn, "Oh, I wouldn't do that if I were you Orange, that's the room where I keep the-" a garbled shout is heard followed by complete silence, "Oh... oh dear... too late.... Darn, this was just starting to get good. Well, Purple and Yellow, now that there are only two of you..." a click is heard over the speakers and blaring music begins playing throughout the labyrinth, "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT"
"I am this close to bashing those stupid speakers to a pulp." Yellow grumbled before dashing away from Purple, knowing how quickly they had mindlessly followed the Psychologist's orders before.
They were attempting to run back to the room filled with beds and food but they made a wrong turn and found themself in a large room with climbing obstacles scattered throughout, and a pit in the center. Unlike other rooms in the Labyrinth, the pit did not seem to be very deep and the bottom was cushioned with pillows.
Yellow turned to leave, but Purple had soon caught up and was standing in the doorway behind them.
"Well isn't this just perfect! I had hoped you would have found this room. I made it just for this occasion," the Psychologist added once again, "And to make it even more annoying, whoever falls down the pit will not die, but be stuck in agonizing boredom for forever, sitting in a blank marble pit. Good luck!"
"Oh no..." "Oh no..."
~~~

Day 3

Orange Mafia (Dead)

One Mafia dead, One Mafia alive, One Doctor dead.

~~~
Alright, back into Rosie voice. This is the point where the game will change into more of a Roleplay-esque style. Because there are two players left and one of them is the mafia, the rest of the game will be a duel! Here are the rules/guidelines:
#1. The platforms and obstacles scattered throughout the room are marble structures/squares of varying sizes with ladders and sometimes ramps. You can introduce these when you interact with them during the game, but you must specify what the structure looks like in your post so the other player can follow. (Note: please do not just add a structure whenever you need it. This match needs a victor, and cannot be morphed to be set up in either player's favor.)
#2. As I said in my last point, this match needs a victor, which will be chosen when one of the two players falls into the pit. If you have fallen by all laws of logic, reaction time, and agility of college-students, admit defeat and fall. You may attempt to save or catch yourself if you really want to, but I might intervene and discount your save if it is too illogical. If you are unsure about a post, mention me at the end and I will make sure it isn't too far-fetched. :)
#3. Hand-to-hand combat is the encouraged way to fight, but if you want to be creative and use other items you hold, like throwing your sock, go for it.
#4. Have fun, and be creative! If all goes well there might be some surprises too. ;D
Yellow here. Great story Rosie! I really like how everything has played out so far, especially the fact that you haven't killed me off yet. How long that is going to last I have no clue, but at least I can try! ;) I have never participated in any forum battles other than the cellars' craziness, although I do like D&D, so we will have to see how this plays out. Congrats to Purple too for surviving this out with me, shame it has to end like this. Welp.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

"We don't have to do this." I eye Purple warily and clench my hands to stiffen my resolve. "We have a chance to disregard everything that Psychopath has told us to do and just move on." I scan the room for all possible exits and, finding none, return my gaze to meet Purple's as their form blocks the only doorway. My mind is racing trying to find any possible alternative for this situation I had found myself in.

Oh, a duel.  Interesting.  I don't really have any experience with dueling either, so I guess this fight may be more equal.

==========

"But if we disregard everything, what's to say that he won't kill us both?  Although, he might kill us both anyway.  And even if one or both of us make it out of here alive, we'll be facing a life sentence for murder." *sudden pause* "Hey, you're just trying to distract me!  We don't have much of a choice but to fight."
Title: Re: Mafia: Lie or Die
Post by: Anonymous on June 11, 2019, 12:16:24 AM
"Don't blame me for your own wandering thoughts! And I didn't murder anyone, thank you very much! I do agree that we can't trust anything he says or does, and he is obviously is super rich and probably incredibly influential, but that can't mean the only option we have is to kill each other?... Right? There has to be another way." Regardless the words coming out of my mouth, I slowly back towards one of the platforms, knowing that height might give me the advantage if push comes to shove, though hopefully not literally. I wasn't really fond of the idea of falling down a pit today, not after watching Red and Indigo meet the same end.

"Huh.  I hadn't though that this was some rich and influential guy.  For all we know, it could be" *suddenly falls silent* "But that's besides the point.  Even if we find out who it is, nobody would believe us.  Sorry it comes to this, but fighting is our only option. *raises arms* Let's get dangerous!

 At those words I scramble up a ramp backwards so that I am still facing Purple, and find purchase on the top about 3 feet above the ground and 5 feet away from the center pit of boredom and doom. Having taken dance lessons for the past two decades I was confident in my balance, if not my strength. I readied myself to kick Purple in the jaw if they made any advances.

My own intact nose wrinkles in disgust. My gag reflex goes off and I repress the urge to throw up all over Purple. The mask caught most of the blood before they reached my eyes. Now free from their grasp I scramble up to standing again and stamp on their fingers hard with my heavy construction boots before shoving them to the edge of the platform.

I stagger at the blow after just freeing myself. I grab Purple's wrist again with both hands and attempt to yank them past me, but this time directed toward the pit of pillows.

I yelp in pain but manage to yank my arm free, flinging them towards the pit.

(do you fall in?)

 I try to pry their fingers off the edge.

 I twist free, losing my finger-less glove in the process. I then take off my other finger-less glove and slap Purple across the face with it.

In the process, Yellow gets some blood from the nose on their hand.

I lose my grip on my glove and it falls into the pit as I frantically wipe my hand on my legging while backing away a few steps from the edge of the pit.

While Yellow is distracted, I climb back onto the platform.

Immediately after both their feet touch the ground I bull-rush purple back into the pit like a battering ram, being careful to stop upon impact so that I do not go over myself.

Like an animated cartoon, Purple remained floating in mid-air for a few moments, looking in all directions.  When it became obvious that there was no way out, Purple stared straight at Yellow's face mask to deliver a dramatic one-liner.

"Farewell, Redwall!!  Oh wait, Red has been dead for a while, this is awkward...uh...goodbye!"

Then, and only then, did gravity remember to do its job, and Purple fell to the bottom of the Eternal Pit of Agonizing Boredom.

Yellow stood teetering on the edge, their face scrunched up in confusion behind their mask, trying to get the reference Purple used their last seconds of freedom to tell them. "I'm sorry," Yellow said, almost too quiet for Purple to hear. They let out a sharp exhale and looked around the gleaming white walls, expecting some other threat to pop out at any moment. Nothing in this place was ever simple.

The epic battle music that had been playing since Yellow dashed away suddenly stopped and the Psycho's voice blasted through the speakers again. "Well, isn't this interesting? Definitely not what I had planned with all the nosebleed... but what can you do? Now, don't be too worried about your care down there Purple, you will be supplied with a daily carrot and occasional entertainment. All a good healthy person needs! And Yellow, you are now free to go. Thank you ever so much for participating and don't forget to take my business card at the front desk! You can keep the mask and the clothing, though. I have no need for them anymore. Ta-ta!"

Yellow waited several seconds after the speakers stopped before the full brunt of what had just happened fully sunk in. They were done. They were quote unquote "free." They could go back to their daily lives. They could finish that research paper they had been procrastinating on. Oh jeez what day is it? Did I miss any of my classes? How would I ever explain to my teachers that I wasn't skipping class I was fighting for my life as some sick human experiment? "You're lucky I'm not a law student or I would sue you so fast," Yellow said to the empty room. The psycho hadn't told them where the exit was, so they just started walking. Out.

Ditto! This game has been the only thing bringing me back to this site as I have been so busy lately. It has been really fun creating this story with everyone and I think Rosie did a really great job, even if she denies it to no end. ;) i really did not expect to be the last one standing at any point in this (I basically said that in every post I made as Yellow, every update was a surprise). The duel was a fun twist at the end, I really enjoyed that. Sorry for cursing you to a life of pillows and carrots Chip. ;D

Maybe! This one was a huge undertaking though and as you can see I didn't get it done very fast. I know other people are interested in hosting other Mafias though!
