I cant believe that Rose died! After that Martin isn't the same, and every one just mopes around. way to keep ya reading though. :'(
I'm gonna get yelled at but...
I really didn't care too much about Rose or her death.
I thought Felldoh was better.
you have the same problem as me ;)
I did like rose, but I have to agree with marlfox.
I hate it when your favorite people/animals die, it kinda makes feel like you lost a real friend at least for me
Badrand killed Rose, right

Yeah. The rest of the story just isn't the same without them.
The people that die have a lasting affect on they other characters and then they do things for them. Its a pretty good plot
Laterose or more comanly known as Rose of Noonvale died a heroic death saving Martin and she was not a warrior. But Felldoh died as a warrior for revenge and life and freedom :(

Yes, Badrang threw her against a wall.
Which shouldn't have killed. Stupid way to go, you'd think she could take more than a crack on the head.
It could have killed her without too much trouble. What if she had internal bleeding and bled out while she was unconscious? That seems like the most likely option to me, but there are a couple things that could have happened. You've got to understand that we (and by extension them) are pretty fragile things overall. Strong too, but you might be surprised at how little it takes to kill someone.
It all depends on WHERE the hit is, and with the critical hit rate of these books, it's just inconcievable!
If you're thrown flat against a wall, you're head's going to hit it too.
I still don't believe it. (sorry I'm a die hard on this ;D)

STUPID BADRANG THE TYRANT
CURSE YOU!!!!!!!!!
Well, at least it was quick and painless.
Getting smacked into a wall is painless?
Broke her skull and neck. died instantly.
It didn't break anything, Jaques would have noted the *crack!* of the bone in the book.
Maybe not. Battles are awfully loud. Also, I wouldn't have remarked it if I were in Mr. Jacques shoes. After I read that Badrang had thrown her at the wall, I was sure she was still alive because there was no way, I thought, that he would kill her. Well he did, and it came as an interesting surprise that would have been spoiled by a "crack".
At any rate, I doubt she was conscious for terribly long in any case, since she instantly slumped on the ground.
Interesting surprise?!? It was a horrifying revelation!
That too. :P
Rose's death was sad. But wasn't it nessesary? Without it do you think that Martin could have defeted Badrang? I don't think he could have.
Martin could've defeated him easy. The problem is that, would Martin have left?
I'm skeptical on that last part. The reason Rose attacked Badrang is that she saw that Martin was losing.
I still think Martin would've won without help.
I agree, he would have had to, Mr. Jacques couldn't kill off Martin, and I think any fan of the series would have done the same, but it was one of the more dubious fights in terms of who was going to win.

She also could have died from a severe concussion. No breaking bones needed. Just head trauma.
I think even if Rose had lived two possibilities could have came up, either Martin stayed or both of them left to go south towards Mossflower. That is just me.
I am just finishing the rouge crew. So far it is one of my favorites. i havent finished it yet but soon........
Well your gonna have some dissapointments, I assure you!
Man oh man. If I had a sword, I'd just swipe all those vermin away. AArrrrggh! Man, sometimes I just wanna go in the book and destroy ALLLLLLLLL the vermin.

*sniff, sniff* thank you.
Rufe is my second favorite.
Good to know you agree with me at least that much. ;)
I still can't believe he killed Finnbar!

*fresh hankie*
We should really take this to the cellars
Almost like the phrase "If I'm going down, I'm taking you with me." I don't know where I heard it.
Mandos say: to day is a good day for someone else to die.

I give up.
I would not like to say this whenever I watch it I cry :'(
s'ok. I cryed at that too.
I'm fifteen and I feel like crying just THINKING about it! :'(
I was pretty sad she died too, marlfox vanish. I still blame myself for making you read it though. ;D
Welcome to the Forum Ravenwyte!
Well, Martin wouldn't be the same hard old warrior mouse without her death.
Although tears were close when I read it.
Every time
But come on, it would have changed Martin's story, and the whole series, if she lived.
He wouldn't have come to Mossflower, because he would have stayed in Noonvale.
The sword wouldn't have been reforged
Kotir wouldn't have fallen.
Redwall would never have been built.
There are ways to get around that.

Yeah, but still, the series would have changed significantly.
Ye gods, the posting editor has a lot of lag.
I almost cryed when Rose was killed :'(. Somtimes I wish that Martin the Warrior was written before Mossflower, then I woudn't of been so sad. I mean, Martin the Warrior is my favourite Redwall book; the only thing that I don't like about it is Rose's and Felldoh's death (ecpecily Rose's). The only thing good that cam out of Rose's death was giving Martin a chance to defeat Badrang (which he did). If he got away, as Blaggut said in The Bellmaker, "He would of just killed more creatures".

Heh, then I'm heartless and evil. :D
I thought it was very sad when she died. More in the t.v show than in the book. In the book, I was just like "Ok, she died, there's nothing more to it." In the show, however, I was like: That's the saddest part in the whole series.
I didn't cry! :D
Nor did I, it isn't the saddest part in the series, Bragoon and Saro's death is. And the consiquenses would be terrible. There would be no series, I think that she was meant to die from the start, she never appeared in Mossflower, so Brian could've either 1) left her out entirely or 2) killed her. I think we're all glad he didn't leave her out. Not so glad that he kill her. Personally, I always knew in my heart that she would die. Maybe that's why I didn't cry at her death.
I was so close to crying when Rose died.
Why didn't Martin run forward to protect her before Badrang slayed her in the t.v series? I love season 3, but come on. I was thinking "Seriously, Martin!"
Don't tell me, I'm watching that series, and off-topic, but I hate how Pallum is female!
Sheesh... You guys are so heartless! Martin suffered more than you could possibly imagine and none of you care... Bragoon and Sarobandos' death wasn't that sad... They went out happy and contented.
Dann, stop trying to win sympathisers, please.
And yes, I am heartless. I like the dramatic factor that a tragic death gives to stories. ;)

Yes, but were talking about Redwall. I don't think the Redwall series should be a series for mass tragidys. It would cind of spoil the holl meanimg of them. And, Unlike you, I am not heartless. I don't think Rose's minds being dead. But think of Martin, think about how sad he must of felt when she died. I don't blame him for crying. I'd probley would cry myself to death if I was him!

Ok, the fact that we have had two topics about this at the same time and both degenerated into a pointless debate about whether or not it was sad and who is heartless because they weren't that sad when she died is getting ridiculous.
I won't say we're all adults here (because we're not) but we should all know better than to argue over something that has no correct answer. We can discuss our own opinions about whether or not it was sad when Rose died, or whether or we think she actually passed away, because that's what forums are for: discussion. Argument is pointless, however. Of course people have different opinions about it. There's no need to call people heartless or try and convince them to find something sad when they didn't, and there's no need to consider your own opinions fact and push them on other people. I don't mean anyone in particular, I mean this whole argument and then one in the other thread as whole.
I think the debate on this topic is done and over. We know where everyone stands, and it's not worth anymore argument. My opinion. I'm not sure why MatthiasMan felt it necessary to revive this topic when we already had one open about the same subject and it was ending up this same way.

Flandor, I'm sorry. I got carried away, and I won't give out my age, but it's older than teen years. I shouldn't be acting immature. Again, I'm sorry.
I wasn't pointing fingers or trying to reprimand or play mod. I was just stating the Rose topic is just getting out of hand on the forum in general and we should all probably just let it go.
Okay. That makes sense.
Ugh... I personally would be happy if both of the Rose topics (that involve death speculation) would be trashed. I'm sick of this myself.
I think we should have a mod lock the Rose topics, so all of us can avoid debate and controversy.
No, I don't think we should do that. If you feel like this topic will make you argue, stay away from it.
I really didn't care too much about Rose or her death.
I don't realy like Rose.
I'm kind of neutral about it. It is disappointing that she died, but I never shed a tear over it.
Actualy i thought her death was......well a work of art. :-\ You see its first brought up by her father who said somthing about staying away from warriors, the put you in dangorus situations. Then Martin in his bloodlust for badrang's death, sorta killed rose...by being so one minded he is responsible in his own mind for her demise. And after badrang is dead he relises that. And then he can't not bare to stay in noonvale, becuase it reminded him of her, and is then sent wandering intill he discovers mossflower. I almost predicted somthing was going to happen to her. I thought "wait if he ends up with her in the end, how will he ever end up venturing to mossflower? And yet i didn't want to belive it. I wanted it to work out. :-[ Its sad, but it's suppose to be. It sets up martin's character up nicely for the rest of the series. And sorta gives reason for him deing alone.
We totally agree with Marlfox Vanish - it is like losing your best friend when your favorite characters die.
We did feel bad for Rose.
I felt like crying for Martin 'cause he's my favorite! Especially because he lost his dad, his mom, his grandmother, his best friend and now his only love! :(
