I read a lot of really good stuff while judging. Depending on what other judges think, I suspect it'll come down to two players.....but that's just my simple opinion who those two are. ;)

I know the second round ends tomorrow--I probably (if all goes well) can do my judging Friday night. So everyone will just have to wait a couple of days for results. :D Nyah nyah!
I was figuring we would give the judges at least three days to get in results if not five. It was five days last time right? ;)

Just can't give my best pulling 11 hour days during the week. I'll get it done, just need to be in the right frame of mind, which isn't most evenings after all the lesson planning. :p
So, I'm thinking we will give the judges until Tuesday the 23rd. Announce the win of the second mini contest the same day. Start round 3 of the tournament on Friday the 26th.

I just finished judging round 2. I left some "peanut gallery" comments after two of the matches because I truly think different posts could have been selected for judging that would have made the scores higher. I'll leave it up to Brook whether my "peanut gallery" comments make it on the judging remarks page.

Surprised you won? :) It was much harder to choose, and I thought there was great stuff in some of these. I just think that people chose the wrong posts for judging. I saw ones not chosen in my view that were better examples of weapon use or creativity. I don't know if the other two would have agreed but that's at least one judge's take on it.
As the rounds go on and there are less matches to judge I have been taking a closer look at the threads overall. I pay special attention to posts flagged for judging, but those not flagged are now also taken into account. I'm very interested in the overall flow of each thread as they pertain to each section we are using for judging.
That's how I've been doing my judging. I think it's good that we each judge differently. It gives a good solid account overall of each person's writing.
Oh, if anyone is wondering... when I ended up with Mokkan, Dannflor, Matthias, and Cluny after pulling Lonna from the mix by chance, I just had to pair them up to go along with the books. It worked out pretty well! I'm excited to read these two matches!!

i was thinking because the first 3 welkin weasles books are set in basicaly the same time and country why not a sylver vs a redwall charicter tournament? sylver could use darts and insect bombs! i think i would be very interesting,what do you think?

I love rhe use of blunted weapons this round! I also love that the only one not using blunted weapons has instead two swords of Martin the Warrior! Mind blown!

Yeah, when does this round end? I just want to have that knowledge so I can mark which posts I want to be judged. I would like to wait until nearly the last minute, so if I have a really good post, I don't have to go around modifying all of my posts so I can put or take out the little OOC judging post.

My results are in. :) One of the matches definitely impressed me, and it was what I was hoping to see when I suggested the kitchens to be a dueling ground.

Aw, you didn't waste your time! It was fun, and if there's another one of these in the future, it was practice for that! It truly wasn't a waste of time if you learned something from it (and I did learn several little things about RPing from this).
I'm sorry you feel that way, Dan. Let me be completely honest here, I came into this contest with very little experience with RPing, outside of Overlord's Orders. This has been a learning experience for me, and I am glad I had a chance to battle with you. You did well. :)
I just finally figured out what was wrong with my sig.... Sorry to be so off T, but I finally figured out why my (currently blue) dragon keeps changing. lol.
So anyway. About the wasting time, really, it kind of was, I didn't learn anything, AND I had the... Disagreements, with HIAG. Besides, who likes working they're rump off just to become the "second-fiddle?" ESPECIALLY to someone who themself admits that they don't have much experience with something that makes up a big part of my day.
BTW, Brookskimmer, when is Srielack going to be finished?

If you want to be a wet blanket about it, then don't participate next time. I would say the judges felt you did quite well, and were creative with your messages. Read our comments. Everyone can't win; I would take the good from our comments and put it towards the next tournament if we consider making one.
That's one of the big problems, you never know just who's going to be looking for what, and some people just get lucky.... more ugh. Wish there was a way to balance these things..... Boy do I need sleep, I keep mistyping things and it is driving me up the wall NO END!...... Sorry about this whole thing, but I've been down on alot of sleep so I can't think completely straight... BTW, I'm not trying to be a wet blanket if that's what it is coming across as.

Danial makes the most sense though doesn't it? He JUST became a Mod, and they had such shining words for him in announcements (nothing wrong with that of course!). Besides, who else COULD it be? Lily was gone, Osu never came back, same with Redwall Musiscian, the admins rarely show, the only one left is Taggerung of Redwall who isn't around eften anyway.

I guess that's something we'll look into for the next tournament. Can't say it will be implemented but we're not ignoring all possibilities.
I have some ideas rolling around in my brain for the next tournament. It will have various differences from this one for sure! I like to keep things fresh and new :D
Be looking for a new role play contest towards the middle of December. The next tournament will probably be in February or March. Nothing final yet, but this is what I'm thinking.

Yep that's the plan. We wanted to do something special and different for the last round. In fact this duel is a precursor to what the next tournament might look like.

I'm just going to throw this out there because I'll probably sit in on the judging panel again, but we need a really advanced judging system if I'm to expect posts like that bonus round. The three categories are too broad. The only way I'd even consider that one player was inherently better than another is if I really went into nitpicking--even that would be tough! ;)
This whole tournament was the trial run of things to come. The next one will have a better standard for judges, along with all kinds of other shiny new additions... ;D
