I think Taggarung is better 8)
First, this is off subject but my name is Rachel :). Now to answer your question. While High Rhulain has some strong points to it, I have to go with Taggerung. I like how Brian made it so that Tagg (Deyna) is equivalent to a teenager, and also how it focuses on him finding his identity (searching for Redwall Abbey) after he was raised in a vermin camp. His tattoos are awesome ;D
You know... I really don't know. Both had their good and bad points. I liked the villians in High Rhulain. Taggerung was a little weak in that department. I think Tagg was a stronger character then ... what's her name? I know it's similar to tiara. Anyroad, I wish she had brought her friends with her on the quest. I think that would've improved things. I also wish more focus was given to the slave otters.
Now that I think of it... I prefer Taggerung.

I like the book Taggerung better, but out of the two otters, my favorite is Tiria. I didn't like how Deyna seemed afraid of killing anyone to the point where it got really annoying

It was the first redwall book I'd read all the way through (The Long Patrol was the first I read, but surprisingly, I finished it almost last XD) But Hgh Rhulain was my first, and one of the best!

When I started reading High Rhulain, I could barely put it down. So I go 100% with High Rhulain!

really if i was truthful I'd say I liked taggerung but I really really like High Rhulain as well but Taggerung still wins for me I just LOVE the story and how different it is and how brave he is at the end :'( I mean he keeps running after his enemy even after he's shot by an arrow he keeps running with it in his chest I think even Martin would straggle don't you :o

I really love High Rhulain, but I'm going to have to say Taggerung is better, in my opinion. I've read it a few times, and even though I know what's coming, I still get worried when Skipper finds Tagg propped against the tree... (Is it wierd that I like that scene? I just really love the dramatic moments, I guess.)

Sometimes I blame Rikki for it, like "oh, look at all those bad tattoos! I better take them off. Oh, and he has a birthmark too. Oh, I'm removing the tattoos anyway, so why not just take off the birthmark as well?"
they removed his birthmark so any Juska who came looking for him wouldn't be able to know it was him :P And Taggerung is just Epic ;D

I adored Taggerung, I am still conflicted on whether I should put it higher on my rankings but High Rhulain was just so gosh darn cool. High Rhulain. (for now, like I said I am still conflicted with Taggerung.)
Taggerung, but in High Rhulain, I really like Leatho Shellhound, and Kolun Galedeep.
