Title: Is Redwall as safe as they say it is? (OOC And Sign-Ups!)
Post by: Ashleg on September 01, 2015, 11:47:48 PM
I'm going to stop being so shy and attempt another roleplay...Hopefully this one won't fail! ;)
It was the Autumn of the Quiet Moon. Redwall Abbey had been flourishing in the past few years of peace they've very well deserved, and it stayed that way until one afternoon a young haremaid, Mixy, and her friends discovered a seemingly abandoned house in the middle of Mossflower while she was collecting berries to bring back to Redwall.
Upon going inside, they found out that somebeast had lived there not so long ago. A note rested on the table, reading only the words "Rapshade the Swift". Who could that be?
Mixy and her friends took the note with them but didn't say anything about it to anybeast except eachother.
As it turns out, Rapshade is a pirate ferret who had arrived in Mossflower by complete accident--his steersrat had decided to go "exploring" one night while everyone rested, and changed course without his Captain's consent. After being in Mossflower for a while, Rapshade had taken a liking to this new land.
While getting used to the land, he and his crew plundered any woodlanders they could find...Until one day they wound up at Redwall.
Of course, as most vermin do, he wanted it to be his.
Alas, the poor Redwallers don't know about Rapshade and his nasty crew yet.
Both Redwall and the vermin be in for a big "surprise" once they do.

Okay! Now that the plot's out of the way, here's the forum!
Please be a Woodlander and a vermin to keep it even...Though if you can't handle two characters I understand. :)
Vermin should start out evil and woodlanders good, but if something that happens in the roleplay causes them to change then that's acceptable.
Rapshade's horde/crew should consist of only vermin, as Redwall is with Woodlanders.
Oh, and please only use animals in the books.
Have fun!! ;)

My forums-
Spoiler

Name: Rapshade the Swift
-Nickname? (optional): Pirate, Murderer, Rapshade Quickblade, and Pitiless One are things his victims have called him before. His crew generally refers to him as "Captain", and his close friends and allies sometimes call him "Captain Swiftshade".
Gender: Male.
Age (Not in years. Dibbun, teen, young adult, adult, middle-aged, senior--you get the idea.): Adult.
Side (Vermin or Woodlander?): Vermin.
Species: Ferret.
Appearance: Rapshade is quite thin and has the markings of a common ferret, but his fur color is a bit more uncommon: black, with gray around his eyes, and brown on the ears and tail. He has amber eyes that sometimes appear red depending on the lighting, and he dons a purple pirate coat with a dark velvet sash tied around the middle. He can always be seen carrying around his trusty sabre, but keeps three sharp daggers just in case.
Rapshade is missing a tuft of fur from his right elbow and a bit from both shoulders as well. He keeps this hidden by always wearing long sleeves.
His left ear has a nick from an earring tearing out. (Oh, vermin and their jewelry!)
Personality:
Rapshade prides himself with his ability to surprise other beasts. At first glance, he just looks like this tall, random ferret that decided to become a captain overnight, since he doesn't exactly come across as strong. Others soon learned to fear him once they realized what he was capable of--And thus learned the lesson of not letting a creature's looks fool them.
Rapshade is a fast runner, and is quite nimble in battle. He's been known to be lacking in mercy towards both his crew and woodlanders, and is very manipulative, though he's terribly afraid of dying.
-Likes:
•Control •Sailing •Plundering/slaying •Causing trouble •Watching others suffer •Night time •The color purple
-Dislikes:
•Green •Losing •Sweets (pie, cake, scones...any kind of dessert) •Woodlanders • His father •Getting sick
Rank: Captain of the Shadowcaster
Anything else I should know about them?:
Though he attempts to hide it, Rapshade is very sickly, and it had become a well-known fact around the crew. He's missing some fur because he's sick.
Sick, but not contagious. It's a disease he inherited, and it's not deadly as long as he and the seer take care of it.
Name: Mixy Winterberry II
-Nickname? (optional): Mixy
Gender: Female
Age (Not in years. Dibbun, teen, young adult, adult, middle-aged, senior--you get the idea.): Teen
Side (Vermin or Woodlander?): Woodlander
Species: Hare
Appearance: Mixy is normal sized for her age and species. She has fuzzy grayish white fur and lively blue eyes. Mixy usually wears a navy blue dress around Redwall, but when she goes out she wears her mother's old cloak.
She owns a small sword, but has never used it in real combat.
Personality: Mixy is not one to shy away from danger, she's just good at avoiding it. When it all comes down to things, she can be a bit shy and isn't very open minded until she gets to know somebeast.
-Likes:
•Cherries •Redwall •The spring •Going on crazy adventures
-Dislikes:
•Anyone or anything that threatens her home, family, or friends •cold weather •seeing blood
Rank: Redwaller.
Anything else I should know about them?:
Her parents were in the Long Patrol, but she chose to live a different lifestyle and remained at Redwall.

Name: Fangfang
-Nickname? (optional): Fang
Gender: Male.
Age (Not in years. Dibbun, teen, young adult, adult, middle-aged, senior--you get the idea): Young Adult.
Side (vermin or Woodlander?): Vermin.
Species: Rat
Appearance: Fangfang is a short but skinny rat with dirty looking yellow fur. He has two sharp teeth that usually stick out of his mouth, and large brown eyes. His tail is long.
Personality: Fangfang is...The ditzy one. Rapshade hates him and views him as basically his scapegoat, but Fangfang still views Rapshade as his hero, since they were childhood friends.
-Likes:
•Grass •Sailing •Dibbuns •Talking about things that are completely off topic •The captain •Whatever the captain likes
-Dislikes:
•fighting •Seaweed grog ("Aggh! Yuck!") •Disobeying the captain
Rank:
Horde rat. Basically the crew's "omega". He's easy to take advantage of.
Anything else I should know about them?
Rapshade doesn't know why he even keeps him around.
...That, and I got his name from a vermin name generator and was like "Fangfang?!"
I thought it could make for a funny character.

Name: Duncan Winterberry
-Nickname? (optional): n/a
Gender: Male
Age (Not in years. Dibbun, teen, young adult, adult, middle-aged, senior--you get the idea.):
Side (Vermin or Woodlander?): Middle-Aged
Species: Hare
Appearance: Duncan Winterberry is a large, formidable looking hare with gray fur and blue eyes. Many would describe him as hardy looking, since he used to be a part of the Long Patrol but now resides in Redwall with his daughter, Mixy.
Duncan's garb is simple: a plain red tunic with a belt around the middle, and a small metal charm he wears around his neck. It was a loving give from his dearly departed wife, Millie, whom their daughter is kind of named after. He is strong looking especially given his age, with long, pointy ears and a hefty build.
Personality: Duncan Winterberry is very kind and gentle with his family, but if somebeast messes with them or anything he loves he'll throw all compassion to the wind; he's similar to Martin or Luke in this way. The only problem with this is that he's very judgmental against vermin. Though the hare wished not to become the Abbey Warrior because he wanted to focus more on his child than his title, he's skilled in sword fighting and isn't afraid to held out if help is needed.
On a less serious note, Duncan's a funny gluttonous hare! Aren't they all? ;)
-Likes:
•Friendly creatures •His family •Redwall •The sound of rain •Hotroot soup •Salamandastron
-Dislikes:
•Vermin •Rude creatures •Not being able to go outside
Rank:
Abbeydweller
Anything else I should know about them?:
His wife was killed by Rapshade back when he was in the Long Patrol.

Name: Vadoma
-Nickname? (optional): n/a
Gender: Female
Age (Dibbun, teen, young adult, adult, middle-aged, senior--you get the idea.): Middle-aged.
Side (Vermin or Woodlander?): Vermin.
Species: Fox (vixen).
Appearance: Vadoma is a gray fox who dons a cloak and usually smells like the herbs she is well accustomed to using, the main one being rosemary. Her eyes are green and give off the essence of somebeast who is all knowing. She has three golden earrings on her left ear, each studded with some kind of jewel. She usually wears a tattered red skirt and a brown tunic, with a beaded necklace. Her tail is long and plumelike and she carries a short curved cutlass wherever she goes.
Personality: Though he is still her captain and she still has to obey him, Vadoma is somehow able to get Rapshade to listen to her. The moment he became captain he practically entrusted his life in the vixen, flat out telling her that he was sick and needed her help. It may seem like they're best friends, but perhaps it's one sided. Yes, Vadoma cares for the ferret, but she simply views him as the captain and nothing more. This is all a profession to her. She served his dad, who barely needed her, and now she's working for Rapshade. Vadoma is the only one allowed in the captain's bunk and she gets fed better then the other crewbeasts, so she kind of enjoys her job.
The only one who really knows her is Rapshade, and even though the others have tried to ask what goes on in there every night she keeps everything a mystery. Though there is a rumor going around the ship that Rapshade couldn't live without a healer's help, she always denies it.
...Even though it's true.
-Likes:
•Her job •Having friendly duels with the captain •The sea •Mossflower •Fancy trinkets and jewelry
-Dislikes:
•Nosy creatures •Being out of stock of something (particularly an herb or medicine) •Woodlanders
Rank: Healer/Seer
Anything else I should know about them?
Though she mainly treats Rapshade, she sometimes helps the others if the ferret's doing better.

I could dig this Scartooth, your last RP was without much of a plot but still worked so this could certainly be interesting. I'm going for Steersrat and Abbey Warrior if that's okay. I still have to finish the sheets but they should be up fairly soon. ;)

No problemo comrade- See what I did there ;)

Anyway I got them all finished I hope they work with your plans, also I have three characters and as my RPing nature goes I might make NPCs throughout the RP. I know now that I need to make sure that is okay with you.

Alrighty here they are Brandon, Saltooth, and the young Bracklew

Name:Brandon
-Nickname? (optional): None officially
Gender: Male
Age (Not in years. Dibbun, teen, young adult, adult, middle-aged, senior--you get the idea.):Middle-aged
Side (Vermin or Woodlander?):Woodlander
Species: Wood Mouse

Appearance: Brandon is of stocky build and a creature of pleasant features. Although slightly aged he has not a single grey hair on him and is still as strong as ever. He wears the simple green habit showing he is a mouse of the Redwall order which is belted with a simple black girdle. His muzzle has a squashed look like it had been broken several times and never healed properly. He is covered in light brown fur with a white stomach and chest. His eyes are a dark black and have swirling eddies of some secret long past.

Personality: Brandon is very animated and clever, though he is still energetic he is growing long in the tooth and often likes to sit back and remember old friends. He enjoys telling stories but never of his past which is marred by his own mistakes. He can be logical and animated with seasons of wisdom making him a dangerous warrior and a good friend.

-Likes: Redwall, a good story, a friendly argument
-Dislikes: Lazy beasts, disrespect

Rank: Abbey Warrior

Anything else I should know about them?: although he is the wielder of Martin's sword Brandon still does not believe he is worthy. He made a horrible mistake in his past which most creatures have long since forgiven him for, which still haunts him every day and night.
Deceased.

Name: Saltooth
-Nickname? (optional):Salty
Gender: Male
Age (Not in years. Dibbun, teen, young adult, adult, middle-aged, senior--you get the idea.):Young Adult
Side (Vermin or Woodlander?): Vermin
Species: Searat

Appearance:Saltooth is a big searat and a typical pirate scum. He is still young and ambitious with shiny black fur and a long grey tail. His eyes are large and he has a tough exterior like that of an experienced mariner. He wears a ragged grey tunic with a broad leather belt. This is paired with some large sea boots and a bright red bandana that is tied around his ears. On his left cheek is a tattoo of a barracuda and on his right ear is a large golden loop-earing. Tied around his waist is a red silken sash where a selection of curved daggers and a scimitar is thrust.

Personality:Saltooth is a greedy and self-centered pirate from his ears to his tail-tip. He is known for being very polite to his victims before gutting them though the heart and loves to cruelly joke with those who are weaker than he is. Although he isn't very bright Saltooth has a particularly good luck and considerable skill in steering ships. He is ambitious and is just as likely to start a mutiny then to follow the captains orders to the letter.

-Likes: Steering ships, the ocean, a good fight
-Dislikes: Woodlands, woodlanders, and marching. :P

Rank:Steersrat

Anything else I should know about them?: He is very Anti-Mossflower and would much rather return to the sea. He is a good liar though and has kept his distaste of his captain's decisions secret.

Name: Bracklew
-Nickname? (optional): Lew
Gender: Male
Age (Not in years. Dibbun, teen, young adult, adult, middle-aged, senior--you get the idea.):Teen
Side (Vermin or Woodlander?):Woodlander
Species:Red Squirrel

Appearance: Lew is a small and cheery looking young creature who always has a smile. He is slightly plump but this does little to slow the youth down. His fur is a fiery red, almost gold color, which is paired with large green eyes. He wears a yellow smock and a beret that he wears at a cocky angle.

Personality: Lew is a cheerful creature and very inquisitive. He is often asking more questions than could be answered to the point where it could be annoying. He is very bright and an excellent actor and has a talent for mimicking creatures. Although he is often laughing at other creature he can't stand it when others laugh at him unless he was trying to make them laugh. He is also easily frustrated and a bit of a pushover.

-Likes: A good meal, being the center of attention, asking questions
-Dislikes: Creatures laughing at him, work, and silence

Rank: Redwaller

Anything else I should know about them?: He is one of Mixy's friends and enjoys tagging along with her and typically agrees with whatever she says.

Hope their all accepted, just give me a shout if you want me to change something ;)

Great! You're in. Sounds like Rapshade better watch his back, eh?
And it's perfectly fine with me that you tend to make NPCs, I sometimes do that too. ;)
If they ever become one of your characters, that'll be okay.
Characters are unlimited, you just have to know how many you can handle. ;D

I'll make the roleplay thread in a little bit.

Hey Scar I was just reading your last post and I was wondering... Where do you want this RP to go, at least at this point. Should I concentrate on Bracklew and Brandon or Saltooth, also is there anything you want me to do to advanced the story.

Such as a general direction you want to go or maybe something you would have the characters strive towards long term.

Anyway if you want to do anything just holler at me, also its chill for you to PP my characters if you need to. *Slap Saltooth silly if'n ye be wishin' it.*

Anyway I'm here to help so if your trying to do something in particular I would be happy to push the story in that direction. If you catch my drift.  ;)
Title: Re: Is Redwall as safe as they say it is? (OOC And Sign-Ups!) Open!
Post by: Ashleg on September 03, 2015, 12:51:08 AM
You can concentrate on any or all of them if you want, like how we have been with roleplaying both characters at once. :)
I was hoping that maybe Mixy and Bracklew could come to a conclusion to consult Brandon, and Rapshade's crew could find Redwall and start getting curious, but not attack yet.
I was hoping that once we have a seer and an Abbot and everything that this could play out kind of like a Redwall book, but I'm not going to dictate everything we do.  ;)

Okay. *slaps Saltooth silly* Hehehee!
The only thing kind of like that that I won't do is critically injure/kill him without your permission, because that would be just plain rude.

Can I be Abbot on the goodbeast side?
Can I be seer/healer on the vermin side?

I shall fill them out in several hours.

<Vermin>

Name: No one knows what his real name is, so they just call him S L.
-Nickname? (optional): S. L.
Gender: Male
Age (Not in years. Dibbun, teen, young adult, adult, middle-aged, senior--you get the idea.): Adult
Side (Vermin or Woodlander?): Vermin
Species: Fox
Appearance: Plump and slow, but surprisingly strong considering how chubby he is, always carries a knife with him.
Personality: Likes to wave his knife around, bounces around most of the time, for some strange reason does not like being called the cook but likes to be called the FOOD PREPARER. The FOOD PREPARER. Got it? Good.
-Likes: Cooking FOOD PREPARING, throwing knives and daggers, stupid jokes
-Dislikes: serious people, people who hate his food.
Rank: Cook FOOD PREPARER
Anything else I should know about them?: His cooking is good if he cooks for many beasts, but is bad if he cooks for only one or two or several. (Kind of opposite from Miss Mush. :P)

<Goodbeast>

Name: Grant
-Nickname? (optional): None
Gender: Male
Age (Not in years. Dibbun, teen, young adult, adult, middle-aged, senior--you get the idea.): Senior
Side (Vermin or Woodlander?): Woodlander
Species: Dormouse
Appearance: Big glasses, big ears, has a cane, walks with a limp, always smiles :), yawns every few sentences
Personality: Quiet until set off, then  >:(
-Likes: Afternoon tea, sitting on the Lawns
-Dislikes: evil, being mad
Rank: Abbot
Anything else I should know about them?: Studies different kinds of pebbles.

The Abbot and Seer are important (The seer/healer is the only one Rapshade actually kind of obeys, because said animal is the only one who knows he has an illness and is the one who helps him. The Abbot's important because, well...It's the Abbot.)
Could you pick one or the other so maybe someone else could get one of those positions? I feel kinda unfair giving them both to one person.  :-\ Maybe want the Abbot/Abbess and some other vermin? I'd personally like the Seer to be able to post a lot, just so ya know if you pick that. :)

You could make them NPCs but that would ruin it for someone who wanted to play them as characters.

Okay so what I really wanted to mention was whether Brandon should know about the name or not, I figured reasonably he probably shouldn't know anything, but there might be the slight chance that Brandon heard a story or something about Rapshade the Swift.

Alright then, are you going to make a sheet for the seer?

BTW I like how we've basically started with a two person RP, and its not to bad either, my characters are fun and the RP is going pretty well. I wish Gonff and Cornflor would get their characters up and running though. (Hint Hint. Gonff and Cornflor) :P

Sandpaw, just so you know, they can attempt to go through with this but they have to fail like most similar attempts in the books. Cause he can't die before the end of the roleplay...Which isn't close. ;)

Okay so before I post what should the inside of the cabin look like, and also should the Redwallers and pirates run into each other or not. Because I had this idea where Mixy and Bracklew get captured and turned into slaves and have to escape.

But only if it works for you.

W-what?
I had that idea too!!  :o I was thinking about getting them captured at some point.
So sure, go ahead. They should go inside and then as they're leaving bump into the vermin. :)
The inside of the cabin should just look like some awful thing happened there (broken furniture, upturned chairs, etc.)
Out of the family that lived there they only took one as a slave, the rest of them died in the fight. ;v;

Rapshade kidnapped Mixy and Bracklew and (secondhandedly) killed Brandon and Creekpaw.
The Redwallers don't know this.
Besides that, maybe just read everybeast's forums to get a little overview on all the characters. :)
(Ex. Rapshade's illness, Mixy's mother, etc...)

Alright so I'm gonna wait on Sage to post with Jetfur or any of his characters in Redwall before continuing. Sage usually posts fairly fast so it should be long.

However besides that now that were this far into the RP it would be horrible to see die. So where do you want to continue from this point? Anything specific you want to do, dawdling around the Abbey for to long with nothing to do will get boring.

So any ideas?
Title: Re: Is Redwall as safe as they say it is? (OOC And Sign-Ups!) Open!
Post by: Ashleg on October 18, 2015, 07:15:52 PM
Bracklew can be made Abbey Warrior soon if you want, and I was planning to have the vermin break into the Abbey and attack (once Rapshade is healed), and flee before any harm can really come to them. Rapshade'll do something that...Mm, makes Mixy and Duncan want to hunt him down. I don't want to spoil it. ;)

As for Blackclaw and Goddith, what do you want to have happen to them?
There's no way he would let them stay in his crew, they'd either need to escape and run away or die (which I don't want to have done without your consent, obviously. :P)
I just don't see him letting them live, so if you want them to live, they'd need to run away once Jetfur arrives.

Oh I wasn't thinking of that happening until the very end of the RP,

Now, as for Blackclaw and Goddith, I wasn't expecting them to survive the attack on their captain which is why I didn't have Saltooth join them. So they both die. Blackclaw ought to take the fatal blow in the battle and Goddith is already knock out so its perfect. >:D

The stoat, on the other hand, would like nothing more than to link up with them.

I'll count myself in, this is my first OC!

Name: Marachiel Chantleigh
-Nickname? (optional): Chiel
Gender: Female.
Age: Teen
Side (Vermin or Woodlander?): Woodlander, later neutral.
Species: Churchmouse
Appearance: A chestnut-brown furred churchmouse with the garbs of a young squire (I mean that she usually dresses like a boy to show her tomboyish personality). Her signature colours are indigo and spring green.
Personality: She is a feisty and tomboyish young soul who prefers to heed Martin the Warrior's calling instead of doing the chores in the Abbey. In addition of being feisty, she can be quirky -- her imagination, beliefs, and even prophecies are so bizarre that many would not believe her. Especially the spirit of Martin the Warrior calling her name.
-Likes: Freedom, bravery, her eccentric beliefs, her Dibbun friends, humour, sailing to faraway places
-Dislikes: Chores, being a proper lady, the Abbot, being outwitted
Rank:
Anything else I should know about them?: She usually carries a jar of "Moon flies" as a proof of one of her quirky beliefs. She usually throws pranks when she is tired of doing chores, to the delight of the Dibbuns and to the annoyance of the caretakers and the Abbot.

@Groddil
Maybe since you PMed me asking if you could make more foxes, wait to post the characters till I reply...I guess that since you already spent time posting them, they're in, but...

@everybody
As of now, I don't want any more foxes in this roleplay. And it's getting too overrun by not only foxes, but with vermin that are not on the villain's team as well, instead they're just running around Mossflower, and that's not really how I wanted this to go. There's way more vermin than woodlanders whereas before it was balanced.

This roleplay is structured.
If you want one that isn't, where loads of foxes is acceptable and so is neutral vermin/etc, check out my "Welcome to our Abbey" roleplay.

So.
I would appreciate it if we could fix this little problem.

@Dotti
Okay, I'll send you a note

A sequel would probably be quite interesting considering some characters are getting away *cough!*Vadoma*cough!* and could cause trouble later. We'd probably have to make some new characters as well, and maybe off some of the older ones from this one, to make it seem more like a proper Redwall story. If it happens, I'll probably kick One-Ear and Muddle from the Abbey, leave Mortembell where she is, and create some new characters.

A suggestion for part two, if I may...

We should advance all current characters by two age categories, so teens (like Bracklew) would become adults, for instance. Seniors and middle-ages would kick the bucket (although middle-aged characters might be able to stay on as very, very old geezers.), and so on. This could help keep the RP like a real Redwall story, but most characters would still be around.
Title: Re: Is Redwall as safe as they say it is? (OOC And Sign-Ups!)
Post by: Ashleg on January 16, 2016, 04:18:54 PM
Aah...  ;w;
That only works for those of us that have young characters.
According to your plan, all my current characters would be old or dead...So no fun for me. :P
Technically speaking, I'd only have Fang and Chrysanthe left, everyone else'd be dead.
And Sage's characters would probably be all dead too.

We could make new ones, but I personally would feel very iffy on it. I was going to make new characters anyway to go along with the old ones (that survive the battle. ;) )

((Also I had an idea for it already. Derp. It would still be a while after the first one, just not so much that anything drastically changes...Otherwise Vadoma would also be dead and the idea I had for the new villain, well, she'd be dead also...So spoiler alert, EVERYONE DIES! XD))

I was thinking more of it being the middle of the winter (since the current RP takes place in fall) and the Redwallers are adjusting to life after the battle, when they realize that their problems aren't over yet... *cue the dramatic tuba*

...If the sequel does good and we want a part three, it would probably be like your idea though...

That's what I meant. One character could become Redwall recorder, everyone could PM them what happens to their characters, and the recorder can post it all at the end.

I nominate Mortembell

I read through a lot of this and I'm very impressed.

The one thing I request: please don't let Rapshade, Vadoma or Jetfur die like punks. I'd love to see their deaths to be somewhat poetic, like the ones in the Redwall series (with Cluny getting crushed by the Bell, Gabool stung with his scorpion, etc.), but if not that, at least don't let them just get beaten in fights and killed. They're great villains and they deserve great deaths.

Post by: Ashleg on January 20, 2016, 04:19:30 AM
Woah, thanks, James! That really means a lot to me! ;D

I'm not speaking for Jetfur here since he's not my character, but *if* one of them ends up dying, it'll be good alright. And it may end up happening in the sequel instead...Who knows?
I have to admit, I got attached to my characters. Glad I'm not the only one who likes them. ;)

...That really made my day.
