Maybe you can try the Forum RP (http://www.loamhedgeabbey.com/index.php?topic=1178.0) as a way to get acquainted with the community? There's also the Forum Prom (http://www.loamhedgeabbey.com/index.php?topic=1294.0) if you wanna take a more slow, light-hearted approach to it.
