I created this thread so we could continue the Vitch discussion without cluttering up the "Top Characters You'd Like to Smack" thread.
I personally believe Vitch, like most minor villains, was mislead. He could have made a peaceful life for himself, but that was virtually impossible because of Slagar. I never saw him do anything really evil, aside from beating Mattimeo (but that was just from a rivalry with him from when they were at the Abbey, I think).
I chose no because even if Vitch wasn't as power hungry as Slagar was, he was still annoying and I strongly disliked him in both the book and the show.
Hmmmm i think i will sklmack slagar insted*smacks slagar*
Vitch is one of the few villain's sidekicks that I don't like. And that's saying a lot, because to me, there have been more interesting ones: like Ashleg from Mossflower or Romsca from Pearls of Lutra.
I was SO SAD :'( when Slagar killed Vitch! Vitch definitely had the potential to be good! :'( :'( :'(
In all honesty here, I think Vitch had to be bad/evil and annoying because he had to be worse than Mattimeo who was sort of a brat himself in the beginning! They would actually seem to be too alike if Vitch wasn't made annoying to the 100th degree. ;)
I think he could have been slightly good, but not like an abbeybeast.
NO!
Every one has the power to be good all they have to do is open their hearts and let others in
I'd say that he may had the possibility to be good (I voted maybe), but it's probably most unlikely.
Hmm.. I don't know. From what I remembered, he hated everything that everyone did in Redwall Abbey. He was forced to do cleaning, and such. Also his natural personality of being annoying. I wish Vitch had more of a back story so we could why he turned out the way he did, I wished many characters did.
I always think of Vitch as an annoying little brat who always wanted to get his way.
Kind of like Dudley from Harry Potter except not fat, large, and human.
Vitch could have been fat... ;D

That's what happens with most rats. If he had been raised at Redwall, he might of been a tad bit nicer to the other dibbuns, but I think he might of still of had a rivalry with Mattimeo.
maybe
Zere are any number o' pozzibilitiez for vot might 'ave 'append tae any o' zem. Perhapz vith zlightly different parentin' techniquez Mattimeo might 'ave turned oot different.
Vitch might have had a little good in him. I put maybe.
It alzae dependz upon vot definition yer uzin'. 'e vaz zorta 'elpful tae Slagar, zae zat could be zaid tae be good.
Vitch has potential to be good, (like Romsca in Pearls of Lutra), but he didn't.
I like the way you phrased that: The potential to be good. But it was his choice.
He had a better opportunity to be good than any other vermin in the series, with the exception of Veil perhaps. The Redwallers let him in because they thought he was a mouse. He experienced all of the benefits of living in Redwall. The food, shelter, and the way he was treated in Redwall was all significantly better than the way Slagar treated him. Yet he still choose to side with Slagar- I mean once he was inside Redwall he could have easily left Slagar by never going to see or report to him at St. Ninian's again. And Slagar would have had no way of getting to him. The only problem he had at Redwall was rivalry with Mattimeo- but unlike while with Slagar- the likelihood of Mattimeo seriously injuring or killing him was miniscule. So either he stayed loyal to Slagar because he came to hate Mattimeo so much or because he was innately evil...
Mattimeo was a little brat. Plus, I doubt Vitch could have kept the secret that he was both an adult and a rat for the rest of his life.
The Vitch is one of my favorite characters in the cartoon. I believe that he had a chance to become good.
"The Vitch." ;D
Vitch is at heart a bully... He is mean and I could never see him change. He is just to evil and that characteristic will never change.... I believe he could never change

I dont remember him being an adult?? I thought Vitch was older than Mattimeo, but still in his teens.
He was definitely young still, but was stunted, so we can assume he was older than he looked.

I remember him being an adult in the books and a child/teen in the show.
