Title: OOC: The Eagles Tears (Redwall/American Indian)
Post by: Leatho Shellhound on March 13, 2016, 09:07:50 PM
So I was listening to some of my music and I looked at the cover (image below) and I had this idea for a Redwall RP.

https://media3.jpc.de/image/w600/front/0/4250619400968.jpg (https://media3.jpc.de/image/w600/front/0/4250619400968.jpg)

So this Role-play takes place out East on the plateau near the great gorge in Arizona like terrain. Our characters are taken by surprise by northern raiders who take the otter chief's little son. Though we are still primitive in our war gear, we are like ghosts among the rocks and eagles in the air. Will the otter pup reveal the location of our mountain gold?

Feel free to suggest side plots here.

How will your characters look? Think along the lines of:

http://c8.alamy.com/comp/EFJDCT/winnetou-1963-jadran-film-production-with-pierre-brice-in-the-title-EFJDCT.jpg (http://c8.alamy.com/comp/EFJDCT/winnetou-1963-jadran-film-production-with-pierre-brice-in-the-title-EFJDCT.jpg)

Both woodlanders and vermin are allowed as part of our Indian tribe. The chief and his family are otters, my charcter (his nephew) will also be an otter. I will post his character sheet soon.

Please fill this out for approval:

Name(think American Indian):
Age:
Species:
Appearance:
Weapons(limited to knives, bows, tomahawks, and spears if part of the tribe):
Personality:

Also I will be making character drawings. :)

Hey this sounds pretty cool Leatho. Just one question, is this taking place in North America? Can we use species native to that region?

Heh, that's two questions I guess.

Well it's set in the Redwall universe, to the far east of Redwall Abbey, but the terrain is that of the wild west of North America. But I'd be happy to consider such a species. :D

Name:Namas Nahuatl
Age: 17
Species: Ocelot
Appearance: Small for his species, but quick and strong Namas is a proud warrior of the eastern tribe. His fur is a dark tan with black spots and stripes running down his back, head, and arms. His belly area is whiter though this is often covered by his tan buckskin clothing. His shirt and pants are decorated in small ribbons which hang along the edges, over his pants is a loin cloth. On his right paw is a bracelet of turquoise beads, and on his footpaws are moccasins.
Weapons: A hunting knife strapped to his chest and a bow which he carries in his paw, with a quiver of arrows strapped to his hip.
Personality: Namas is a fierce and proud warrior who is desperate to prove himself as capable member of the tribe. He is endlessly loyal to his chieftain, and has a clear head in chaos. That being said Namas can be foolish, rash, stubborn, and overly protective. His first instinct is to fight rather than to run, and he never considers the consequences of his actions.

Name(think American Indian): Stalks-in-Shadow
Gender: Female
Allegiance: Northern Raiders
Age: Middle-Aged (46 seasons)
Species: Groundhog.
Appearance: Stalks-in-Shadow is short, with dark brown fur and piercing green eyes. She wears tattered rags to disguise her true self, an expert killer. A master of stealth, Stalks-in-Shadow blends easily into the rock of the canyon.
Weapons(limited to knives, bows and spears if part of the tribe): A bow and a rusted knife.
Personality: Stalks-in-Shadow keeps to herself, and is very cold and quiet in conversation. The other raiders suspect that she is just a soulless husk, a demon, whose sole purpose is to kill.

Name(think American Indian): Dancing Flame and Raging Rapids
Gender: Male (Dancing Flame)/Female (Raging Rapids)
Allegiance: Loners (Seem to follow the Tribe, but technically not a part of it)
Age: Adult (32 Seasons)
Species: Coyote
Appearance: Dancing Flame and Raging Rapids may be twins, but that doesn't make them identical. Dancing Flame has rough and gritty red fur, stained by dust, with bright red eyes. Raging Rapids has blue-grey mottled fur (Think: Blue-Heeler), smooth with the occasional rough patches, as well as cool blue eyes. Both coyotes are quite thin, as if malnourished, but very quick as a result. In the way of clothing, they both wear grey loincloths, with a rough brown shirt over their chests.
Weapons(limited to knives, bows and spears if part of the tribe): A spear apiece, a burning torch (Dancing Flame), a young alligator on a leash (Raging Rapids).
Personality: The two coyotes are rather eccentric, appearing mad to the unwatchful eye, but actually rather intelligent (if you can get past the riddles). These two tend to finish each others sentences, but other than that, the tribe don't actually know that much about them.

All are approved, though I would mention that Stalks-in-Shadow isn't limited to those weapon types since she is a raider.

Do the two coyotes live with the tribe, or out by them selves and come by to trade or hunt?

S-i-S can just stick with them anyway. Makes sense. Although I will change the spear to a knife...It'll let her blend in.

The two coyotes don't live with the tribe, think that wherever the tribe goes, they'll already be there.

Here they are!

A prairie-dogmaid named Milk-of-Moon

Spoiler
Name(think American Indian): Milk-of-Moon
Gender: Female
Age: Teen
Species: Prairie dog
Appearance: Though a little bit small for her species, Milk-of-Moon has sported a strong and agile body. With light cream-coloured fur and matching light-brown eyes, she is quite in tune with her name, with only her buckskin tunic in slight contrast. A multicoloured necklace of beads hung in her neck, and a white-beaded bandanna sat on her head, with only a few feathers as decorations.
Weapons (limited to knives, bows and spears if part of the tribe): An old dagger and a flaming torch
Personality: A level-headed young dogmaid, Milk-of-Moon is quite spunky, selfish and narcissistic, only caring for her appearance and abilities than her feminine role and significance to her tribe. The consequences of her actions, she didn't care much. With only her chipmunk sidekick Harkahome as companion and guardian, she has quite a few friends. But her negative attitude is only a cover for her inner compassion buried deep within the depths of her heart, which is the only thing left of her parents before they abandoned her.
[close]

And her chipmunk sidekick Harkahome

Spoiler
Name(think American Indian): Harkahome
Gender: Male
Age: Middle-age
Species: Chipmunk
Appearance: Being a chipmunk, Harkahome has a reddish-brown fur with grey stripes, with patches of grey all around to signify his ageing. He wears a light tan buckskin tunic which is too big for him, hence the meaning of his name, "little robe".
Weapons (limited to knives, bows and spears if part of the tribe): A simple pointed spear made of old wood
Personality: Harkahome is the opposite of his guardian Milk-of-Moon in terms of personality; he is bubbly and quite compassionate. His weaknesses are his phobia of fire and his impatience to deal with his erring guardian.

Very nice! Approved, though how did the older Harkahome come under the guardianship of Milk-of-Moon?

It might be funny if he was supposed to be her guardian, but he fills the role as a side-kick. Just food for thought. ;)

Well, it's simply a last admonition of Milk-of-Moon's parents to Harkahome before they abandoned her (she was a Dibbun at that time) for some important quest.

Are you going to post your characters Leatho?
Title: Re: OOC: The Eagles Tears (Redwall/American Indian)
Post by: Leatho Shellhound on March 16, 2016, 01:16:57 AM
Do you guys want this to be more freestyle, or would you'll like to plan the story a little more?

Name: Eagle Tears
Age: 18
Species: otter
Appearance: He is big for his age, with light brown fur and eyes of the same colour. He lived up to his name when he slew an eagle with only his claws and teeth. He made a grand head dress out of the feathers he got from his kill. Eagles Tears wears a blue waist cloth with a slender knife in the back of his belt. He also wears a neckless with two chicken feathers on it and a pair of light brown leather boots.
Weapons: Slender knife, and a real good tooth and claw fighter.
Personality: He is very compassionate, though firm. He is very protective and uses his skills as a warrior to defend his tribe, friends, and family. The chief's son was like a little brother to him and was training him to hunt and lead. After he was taken, Eagles Tears showed his other side, that of indefatigable drive for justice and skillful warfare.

The character art is in production, I have most of the pencil work done. :)

I don't mind either way. Freestyle would be pretty fun, but the story would be interesting.

Yes quite, well post some ideas any way. ;)

Here are some filler characters I will be playing.

Name: Gosnih
Age: 7
Species: otter
Appearance: Green eyes with dark brown fur and a black waist cloth and bandana with eagle claw neckless (Of which Eagle Tears gave him).
Weapons: Can throws rocks really well.
Personality: Shy at first but quick to learn, and ruthless.

Name: Vickbald
Age: 43
Species: ferret
Appearance: Sly, and powerful he is well build and in shape. A mighty fighter and explorer and leads his raiders deeper into new lands. wears yellow and white cloths, with a rapier and dirk in his belt and tall black boots.
Weapons: rapier and dirk
Personality: Fearless and willing to use any means to keep his men alive and start a new colony.
Title: Re: OOC: The Eagles Tears (Redwall/American Indian)
Post by: Gonff the Mousethief on March 17, 2016, 05:28:07 AM
Name: Mostsqueh
Age: 27
Species: Jack Rabbit
Appearance: Has a deep and rich brown fur, wiht small streaks of gray inbetween. Both of this ear are gone, leaving almost laughable stubs. He is blind in one eye, leaving a milky, almost clear white, astray from its usual blue. With both of these sense practically gone, his sense of touch and smell are incredibly keen. Finally, he sneaks and hops around in a full tunic made of skinned fox, completed with hood to cover his "ears" and pants to give him more cover. On the outside there are large arrays of multicolored feathers that flow naturally, with a long trail running from the tip of his hood the bottom of his back.
Weapons: A double headed tomahawk (Lemme explain). On the top you have a regular, small ax head. But on the bottom there is the same type of head, just on the opposite side. Using his keen sense of touch, he can twirl and throw it at ease.
Personality: Motsqueh is very shaky. He has had tramua in his life that not many others can compare too. During his "good" moments, he is timid and more reserve. Sadly, he is usually in his "unstable" moods, where every thing and body annoys him, with a boiling anger ready to be unleashed. The only reason he is now considering joined a tribe again is because of how hard it is to be alone with many a tribal war. It's better to take sides then to be in the crossfire.

Hope this is alright. I had to come up with him quickly.

Over all, character approved, though what he is wearing is a little odd. Is it like a Urgan Nagru style? But other than that really cool, glad to have you. Also I completely forgot about tomahawks! Thanks for bringing them to my attention. :)

@SaLt: Glad to be here as well!

@Leatho: Kind if yeah. I forgot to make it more Indian fashion, so I'll edit that real quick. His outfit is really just based on old Civil War Indians, who wore odd clothing before and after the war.

Name(think American Indian): Falling Flower.
Age: 25.
Species: Badger.
Appearance: He wears ragged clothes made out of fallen enemies, due to having taken part in hundreds of conflicts. He has many scars, and wears red feathers around his neck. He has the skulls of a fox and a ferret attached to the end of his tomahawks.
Weapons(limited to knives, bows, tomahawks, and spears if part of the tribe): Two large tomahawks.
Personality: The badger usually doesn't talk to other beasts, preferring to brood alone. If he does, however, he is strangely eloquent, for in battle he is savage, roaring and brutally hacking and slashing apart his foes.
Other: The badger follows the tribe from a distance, coming in only when the tribe goes to war or hunting.

Excellent drawings Leatho I especially like Dancing Flame, and Harkahome. My own character Namas is quite excellent as well, the fur is just amazing, though his head does make him look a bit more like a tiger then a ocelot but it was well done all the same.

I don't know how you do it. Just the eyes, the fur and shading. Very good.

@Ash, Thanks, I wasn't quite sure where to put it, so I stuck it on the end, sorry about that.  ;)

@Gnoff, oh I'm glad! I wasn't really sure if that was the way you were picturing your characters out-fit. Happy to have come through!

I'm so sorry for not getting the RP started today, I only had a short time period for when I could write it, and that was right when the forum went down.... So it will be soon, I will also be having my spring break!

Name: Fishpaw
Age: 20
Species: Pine Marten
Appearance: Fishpaw is a rather scrawny marten with hazel eyes, and whiskers that are always bent or twisted in some way. His fur is light brown unlike most martens, except for his left paw, which is the same cream/yellow color as his belly. He wears red feather earrings on both ears and a lot of patterned bracelets, along with a (slightly oversized) ragged black tunic that he probably found in the dirt somewhere.
(Also, his fangs stick out whenever he smiles.)
Weapons: His dad's old bow and arrows.
Personality: Snarky, manipulative, immature. He tends to jump into things without much thought and doesn't listen to his father's wisdom. It's rumored that he's aspiring against the tribe, but he denies it whenever somebeast brings it up.

Name: Chosovi (meaning bluebird)
Age: 53
Species: Otter
Appearance: Unlike his adopted son, Fishpaw, Chosovi is large and strong, always with a determined look in his blue eyes. He has sleek brown fur and large paws, and wears a headband decorated with beads and blue feathers. He has a matching sash he wears across his chest.
Weapons: A decorated spear and a short knife.
Personality: Friendly, brave, and serious when need be. He's intensely loyal to the tribe and, despite his appearance, prefers when there's no action going on.

Hope it's not too late to join! owo

Hey Ashleg would it be cool if Fishpaw and Namas are quote on quote friends, or more in retrospect tolerate each other enough to do things together? Their personalities are way different, but it could work out, Fishpaw being the more dominate young adult that Namas idolizes. And with both of them being young warriors going out on the same war party it would make sense if they stuck together while in close company with the more experience warriors.

Actually the same connection could be made with Milk-Of-Moon, Dotti if that's okay with you? They are actually closer in age then Fishpaw and Namas and would probably be friends.

Name:  Dawn

Age: 24

Species: Cheetah

Appearance: Her fur is a tad more to the tan side than yellow, though the traces of yellow are still quite evident. The spots contrast sharply with a pure black. Her eyes are ocean blue, and just as deep and sparkling. Her fur is unusually soft and smooth, and her tail grew slightly thinner than average. She's a bit smaller than most cats, but her physical prowess does not seem to have suffered. Her frame may be diminished in comparison, but it's been toned down to a tee. Her clothing consists primarily of a simple, neat, sleeveless skin tunic dyed a mid range, earthy brown with a pair of jagged, zig-zagging blood red patterns on the sides. She wears the same material wrapped around the bottom half of her shins, slipping down under her feet once, leaving her ankle and front of the feet exposed. Her tunic is belted with a darker brown variant that matches her herb bags. Dawn possesses a couple variants of herb bags, primarily the over-the-shoulder, satchel style used when out and about collecting, and the more secure over-the-back, pack style used for long trips, chases, field work, etc.

Weapons: A Tomahawk  (used as a tool) sheathed by the left hip, handle hanging loosely from the belt. A Knife (both a tool, and a vital instrument for her healing practices) sheathed securely on the back-right of her belt, just poking out above and behind the right waist. Her atunement with the world around her could also be counted.

Personality: Dawn is a very caring individual, compassionate, kind, generous, peaceful. She can be quiet or bubbly, everything depends on her mood, and who she's with. She loves those in her tribe, and has assisted almost every member in some way or another (be it curing a minor disease, sealing vital wounds, watching children, listening to matters of the heart, etc.). Simply put, she loves her people. She has never fought with them, but she's always been there, running through whatever carnage has ensued to sweep away a fallen friend and administer healing.

History: Dawn wasn't always a part of the tribe, all that is known of her previous family and tribe is that they seemingly wanted her to be picked up by her new one due to where she was found. She was quite young at the time, and a family of otters took pity on her, choosing to raise her as their own. Ever since, she's lived and learned with her new tribe, acquainting herself with the various herbs and vegetation that offered an opportunity to heal. Aside from that she's always loved nature, running through a swift breeze, diving into a cool puddle, climbing through myriads of trees. Once she turned 16, Dawn started getting placed on scouting parties, a couple years later and she was also getting placed on war parties. Her healing skills were highly respected, even more so on the battlefield due to her ability to get the wounded out of the fray, and quickly. Despite her time in these violent confrontations, no beast has seen her fight with the others, outside of shoving an assailant or two with a staff she might have picked up on the way. However, a scouting party she was on was late getting back one afternoon. Searchers were just about to be sent out when the Cheetah clambered back, the majority of her body covered in blood. After being sat down, she explained in detail how their party was ambushed by another group, though they had no mark by which to be identified. The other two members were slain, and that was all they could get out of the teary cat... But there was one other thing that a few with strong noses couldn't help but notice. The scent of the blood she was covered in was not only that of her own, and the two who had died, but also of 6 other beasts that couldn't be identified.

It's all done now!

Hello there. I'm new, but I would really like the opportunity to participate in something like this. I hope it isn't too much trouble to add me in at this point in the story. I've read through the threads and I'm all caught up. I'll go ahead and put up a character sheet in hopes of being accepted and active as soon as possible.

Name: Marci Embarko
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Species: Field Mouse
Allegiance: The Tribe
Appearance: Tribal appearance - earrings some tattoos and war paint. Long dark shoulder length hair. (I know most mice don't have this kind of feature, but as Redwall creatures are often very humanoid I'm stretching in that general direction.) He sports a woven tunic along with feathers in his hair and some furs for warmth.
Personality: As we all know, field mice are not too bright. Marci is clumsy and slow to catch on, but his heart is in the right place. Always an optimist. Marci was on a hunt one day when he tripped and fell headfirst into a tree. This likely contributes to his dull intelligence
Skill: Marci is not a very skilled mouse. He can wield a spear with considerable aptitude, but in most other aspects he falls short. Chief among these aspects is thinking and common sense.
Weaponry: Wooden spear with an iron tip, and a simple wooden shield decorated with feathers and leather.
