Hello! This topic is about foods that were in the series that we have seen in real life, but maybe never tried, or thought about where they came from. (If there is a better place for this, or maybe a topic this can be merged with, that would be good.)

I recently found a channel on YouTube that does recipes from the 18th century, and their origins are explained as they are made. This channel is https://m.youtube.com/user/jastownsendandson, and may be a good resource for writers, as well as people who enjoy the more mundane parts of everyday life in history.
Two foods in particular may be of interest to fans of the books: Sailors' rations, including "burgoo", and "hardtack", a hard bread that was seen several times.

I use almond milk myself for drinking and cooking. It works just as well as cow's milk. It would make a lot more sense for the Redwallers to use it, too.

Is anyone familiar with Baklava? It's like a crunchy roll stuffed with wallnuts and bathed in honey (or syrup) and it's kind of what I think 'unnymoles' are.

Yes, I have had/made baklava. Very sweet and sticky. Made it with honey.
