Title: Favorite verses in songs
Post by: Skyblade on April 19, 2015, 08:04:39 PM
Don't you just love music? :)

Random person in background: No.

Me: Okay, no need to add that comment :P Anyway, I can tell many people on this forum (especially Soren! And me ;D) really like music. There's probably already a thread for favorite songs, but here's one specifically for favorite verses in songs. Which verses touch your heart, move you, or make you feel a certain way? Which ones do you simply like? You don't have to post the entire song, just a particular part that stands out.

EDIT: And I am going to bold my favorite lines in my favorite lines ;D

To start, I love the chorus from the choral song Take These Wings

"Take these wings and learn to fly
To the highest mountain in the sky
Take these eyes and learn to see
All the things so dear to me.

Take this song and learn to sing
Fill your hearts with all the joy of spring
Take this heart and set it free
Let it fly beyond the sea.
"

Maybe it's because I really (REALLY) like ballads and, well, Roxette, but her song: "Fading like a Flower" really touches me.

This part in particular:

"In a time where the sun descends alone
I ran a long long way from home
To find a heart that's made of stone

I will try, I just need a little time
To get your face right out of my mind
To see the world through different eyes

Every time I see you oh I try to hide away
But when we meet it seems I can't let go
Every time you leave the room I feel I'm fading like a flower".

Wow, Sierra! That's amazing! :D

I love Flying Free by Jenna Lynn. It's the song my heart sings. It is so relatable. It's my theme song, essentially.

There is a place I call my own
Where I can stand by the sea
And look beyond the things I've known
And dream that I might be free

Like a bird above the trees
Gliding gently on the breeze
I wish that all my life I'd be
Without a care and flying free

But life is not a distant sky
Without a cloud, without rain
And I can never hope that I
Can travel on without pain

Time goes swiftly on it's way
All too soon we've lost today

I cannot wait for skies of blue
Or dream so long
That life is through

So life's a song that I must sing, a gift of love I must share

And when I see the joy it brings, my spirits soar through the air

Like that bird up in the sky, life has taught me how to fly

For now I know what I can be
And now my heart is flying free

Oooooo...

Woah, that's a really nice song, Skyie. Strong yet sweet :)

Lyrics from my favorite song: Moonlight Shadow.

"The trees that whisper in the evening
Carried away by a moonlight shadow
Sing a song of sorrow and grieving
Carried away by a moonlight shadow

[...].

Stars move slowly in a silvery night
Far away on the other side
Will you come to talk to me this night".

"Spiderwebs of steel and stone
Subdivide our given home
Rememberance of ancestrial sage
Thorns and brambles of a different age

We will not be thrown away
We will not be torn
We will never fall astray
We've seen your kine before " -Thorns and Brambles, by Abney Park

Cool, you guys!

From Castle in the Sky by DJ Satomi:

"You've got the key
Of the kingdom of the clouds
Open the door
Leaving back your doubts

You've got the power
To live another childhood
So ride the wind
That leads you to the moon 'cause...

Fairytales live in me
Fables coming from my memory
Fantasy is not a crime
Find your castle in the sky "

I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily
I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use
The tools and gifts we got, yeah, we got a lot at stake
And in the end, you're still my friend at least we did intend
For us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn
We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what I've got, and what I'm not, and who I am
-I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz (Mainly the first four lines but it looks incomplete without the rest)

I ponder of something terrifying
'Cause this time there's no sound to hide behind
I find over the course of our human existence
One thing consists of consistence
And it's that we're all battling fear
Oh dear, I don't know if we know why we're here
Oh my,
Too deep
Please stop thinking
I liked it better when my car had sound
-Car Radio by Twenty One Pilots

Controversial, also offensive language but it's like "here is a word that you shouldn't be using"

If I was gay, I would think hip-hop hates me
Have you read the YouTube comments lately?
"Man, that's gay" gets dropped on the daily
We become so numb to what we're saying
A culture founded from oppression
Yet we don't have acceptance for 'em
Call each other f****ts behind the keys of a message board
A word rooted in hate, yet our genre still ignores it
Gay is synonymous with the lesser
It's the same hate that's caused wars from religion
Gender to skin color, the complexion of your pigment
The same fight that led people to walk outs and sit ins
It's human rights for everybody, there is no difference!
Live on and be yourself
When I was at church they taught me something else
If you preach hate at the service those words aren't anointed
That holy water that you soak in has been poisoned
When everyone else is more comfortable remaining voiceless
Rather than fighting for humans that have had their rights stolen
I might not be the same, but that's not important
No freedom 'til we're equal, damn right I support it
-Same Love by Macklemore with Ryan Lewis feat. Mary Lambert
[close]

Also controversial

No matter gay, straight, or bi,
Lesbian, transgendered life,
I'm on the right track baby,
I was born to survive.
No matter black, white or beige
Chola or orient made,
I'm on the right track baby,
I was born to be brave.
-Born This Way by Lady Gaga
[close]

They say we are what we are
But we don't have to be.
I'm bad behavior but I do it in the best way.
I'll be the watcher (watcher) of the eternal flame.
I'll be the guard dog of all your fever dreams.
-Immortals by Fall Out Boy (Again, mostly the first two lines but it's incomplete without the rest of the verse)

"There's no easy way out" By Survivor.

"We're not indestructible,
Baby better get that straight.
I think it's unbelieveable,
How you give into the hands of fate.
Some things are worth fighting for,
some feelings never die.
I'm not asking for another chance,
I just wanna know why.".

"Once upon a night we'll wake to the carnival of life
the beauty of this ride ahead such an incredible high
It's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead
This moment the dawn of humanity
The last ride of the day"
   ~"Last Ride of the Day" by Nightwish (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTN5E5fReSc) (Especially for that one line; "It's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead")

"It was the night before,
When all through the world,
No words, no dreams
Then one day,
A writer by a fire
Imagined all of Gaia
Took a journey into a child-man's heart...

A painter on the shore
Imagined all the world
Within a snowflake on his palm
Unframed by poetry
A canvas of awe
Planet Earth falling back into the stars

I am the voice of Never, Never Land
The innocence, the dreams of every man
I am the empty crib of Peter Pan,
A soaring kite against the blue, blue sky,
Every chimney, every moonlit sight
I am the story that will read you real,
Every memory that you hold dear"
   ~"Storytime" by Nightwish (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g8ykQLYnX0) (What can I say; these guys seem to have some awesome lyrics. Plus, as someone who likes to read and write, this one just hits home)

"Here at home in this steeple
Made of chrome, above a city of steel,
I've chosen bats over people
'Cause I never did like the way humans made me feel.

So we sleep all day and we rise at night
And we spread our wings and take into the skies.
And when the people look up and stare
And say, "Why you gotta be like that?"
I just look them in the eye and tell them
I was raised by bats!"
   ~"Raised By Bats" by Voltaire (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb7W_cikUp0) (Yes! Take me away and adopt me, adorable bat-family!)

"I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you
But I get the feeling that you don't like it
What's with all the screaming?
You like monkeys, you like ponies
Maybe you don't like monsters so much
Maybe I used too many monkeys
Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?"
   ~"Skullcrusher Mountain by Jonathan Coulton (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7aV4oPXRec) (Of course my favourite love song is from the perspective of a super-villain; why wouldn't it be?)

See You Again, Wiz Khalifa

How could we not talk about family when family's all that we got?
Everything I went through you were standing there by my side
And now you gonna be with me for the last ride

So let the light guide your way hold every memory
As you go and every road you take will always lead you home

It's been a long day without you my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again

The Last Goodbye, Billy Boyd. I like this song because it really just tells the story of Bilbo leaving the dwarfs after all they have been through together.

saw the light fade from the sky
On the wind I heard a sigh
As the snowflakes cover my fallen brothers
I will say this last goodbye

Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling
And I must away
Over hill, and under trees
Through the lands where light never shrone
By silver streams that run down to the sea

Under clouds, beneath the stars
Over snown one winter's morn
I turned at last to paths that lead home
And through where the road then takes me
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell
Many places I have been
Many sorrows I have seen
But I don't regret
Nor will I forget
All who took the road with me

Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling
And I must away
Over hill, and under tree
Through lands where light has shined
By silver streams that run down to the sea

To these memories I will hold
With your bleesing I will go
To turn at last to paths that lead home
And through were the road then takes me
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell

I bid you all a very fond farewell.

From Think of Me (Phantom of the Opera)

If you ever find a moment
Spare a thought for me

'Cause you're only a man
And a man's gotta learn to take it

Try to believe
Though the going gets rough
That you gotta hang tough to make it

History repeats itself
Try and you'll succeed

Never doubt that you're the one
And you can have your dreams!

Fight 'til the end
Cause your life will depend
On the strength that you have inside you

Ah you gotta be proud

you'll reach the final bell!"

  This isn't technically a verse (it's the bridge and the chorus, I believe, but it's really, really long :P), but I really love the message in it.

I was so scared of Jesus,
but He sought me out
like the cancer in my lungs
that's killing me now.
And I've given up hope
on the days I have left,
but I cling to the hope
of my life in the next.
Then Jesus showed up,
said, "Before we go up,
I thought that we might reminisce.
See, one night in your life,
when you turned out the light,
you asked for and prayed for my forgiveness."

You cried wolf;
the tears, they soaked your fur.
The blood dripped from your fangs.
You said, "What have I done?"
You loved that Lamb
with every sinful bone,
and there you wept alone.
Your heart was so contrite.

You said, "Jesus, please forgive me of my crimes.
Sanctify this withered heart of mine.
Stay with me until my life is through,
and on that day please take me home with you."

I can smell the death on the sheets
covering me;
I can't believe this is the end.
I can hear You whisper to me,
"It's time to leave.
You'll never be lonely again."

But this was my deathbed,
I died there alone.
When I closed my eyes tonight
You carried me home.

"I know there's something in the wake of your smile
I get a notion from the look in your eyes, yea
You've built a love, but that love falls apart
Your little piece of heaven turns to dark

[...]

Sometimes you wonder if this fight is worthwhile
The precious moments are all lost in the tide, yea
They're swept away and nothing is what is seems
The feeling of belonging to your dreams

[...]

And there are voices
That want to be heard
So much to mention
But you can't find the words
The scent of magic
The beauty that's been
When love was wilder than the wind"

"Listen to your heart" by Roxette. The first song that I actually recorded from the radio in the 90s.

"With his back against the San Francisco traffic
On the bridges side that faces towards the jail
Setting out to join a demographic
He hoists his first leg up over the rail

And a phone call is made, police cars show up quickly
The sergeant slams his passenger door
He says, "Hey son why don't you talk through this with me?
Just tell me what you're doing it for"

"Oh, it's a little bit of everything
It's the mountains, it's the fog
It's the news at six o'clock
It's the death of my first dog"

"It's the angels up above me
It's the song that they don't sing
It's a little bit of everything"

We all have pain, we all have sorrow

We know that there's always tomorrow

Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on

I love this song so much and want it played at my wedding someday.
And love me for eternity
My dearest one, my darling dear
Your mighty words astound me
But I've no need for mighty deeds
When I feel your arms around me

But I would bring you rings of gold
I'd even sing you poetry (oh, would you?)
And I would keep you from all harm
If you would stay beside me

I have no use for rings of gold
I care not for your poetry
I only want your hand to hold

I only want you near me

From Don't You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia, feat. John Martin:

"There was a time
I used to look into my father's eyes.
In a happy home
I was a king, I had a golden throne.
Those days are gone,
Now the memory's on the wall.

I hear the songs
From the places where I was born.

Upon a hill across a blue lake,
That's where I had my first heartbreak.
I still remember how it all changed.

My father said,
"Don't you worry, don't you worry, child.
See heaven's got a plan for you.

Don't you worry, don't you worry now."
Yeah!"

Une chanson italienne – A. Morisod

Une chanson sous un ciel de vacances
C'est ainsi que notre histoire commence
Une guitare dans la nuit
Le grand amour a suivi
C'était la première fois
Rappelle-toi

Une chanson italienne
Une romance d'amour
Un refrain qui nous rappelle
Le souvenir des beaux jours
Dieu que la vie était belle
Sous le soleil d'Italie
Mille mandolines
Mélodie divine
C'est la chanson de notre amour

Mais les chansons ça ne dure qu'un été
Un jour la nôtre nous a quittés
On la croyait disparue
Ce soir elle est revenue
Nous faire danser toi et moi
Comme autrefois

You stood before creation
Eternity in Your hand
You spoke the earth into motion
My soul now to stand

You stood before my failure
And carried the cross for my shame

With arms high and heart abandoned
In awe of the one who gave it all
I'll stand

The Gambler by Fun.

Slow down, we've got time left to be lazy
All the kids have bloomed from babies into flowers in our eyes
We've got fifty good years left to spend out in the garden
I don't care to beg your pardon, we should live until we die

We were barely eighteen when we crossed collective hearts
It was cold, but it got warm when you barely crossed my eye
And then you turned, put out your hand, and you asked me to dance
I knew nothing of romance, but it was love at second sight

You think that I nearly lost you when the doctors tried to take you away
Like the night you took my hand beside the fire thirty years ago to this day
You swore you'd be here 'til we decide that it's our time

So just take my hand;, you know that I will never leave your side
You're the love of my life; you know that I will never leave your side

The echoes fill your soul.
They won't say which way to go,
Just trust your heart.

But I'm not sure anymore.
It's just so hard.

The voices in my head,
Tell me they know best!
Got me on the edge,
they're pushin', pushin',
they're pushin'

I know they've got a plan,
But the ball's in my hands!
This time it's man-to-man,
I'm droppin', fightin', inside a

World that's upside down, it's spinning faster.

[...]

I'm kickin' down the walls.
I gotta make 'em fall!
Just break through them all!
I'm pushin', crashin', I'm gonna
Fight to find myself,
Me and no one else!
Which way I can't tell, searchin',
Searchin', can't find a
Way that I should turn,
I should turn right or left it's,
Like nothing works without you!".

Champion, by Clark Beckham. I love the use and arrangement of the words. Very artistic.

Oh oh

Oh oh

You're flying, you fall

You're trying, you fail

But still you keep going

You're crashing, you stall

You sink 'til you sail

Cause you never know when

The tide's gonna turn

The wind's gonna change

We're gonna make it

The world's gonna learn and remember our name

It's been not breakin'

Through blood and tears we rise

Coz Tonight we come alive

We are the sons of the promised dream

Daughters of hope we will not give up

They say we're broken

They say we're weak

But We've shown the heart of the champion

Oh oh

Oh oh

Oh oh

We're gonna stand

When we've been knocked down

We crawl, we walk, until we run

We're gonna fight

Gonna hold our ground

Cause we've got the heart of the champion

Oh oh

Oh oh

Cause we've got the heart of the champion

"When you are losing your way in the rain" by Art Garfunkel (Watership Down):

"When the colours of morning have faded away
And you don't know where the road is leading
The edge of the sky turns from blue into grey
And there's nothing to ease the pain
When you're losing your way in the rain.

Sometimes I'm right
Oh, and sometimes I'm wrong
But I'm aching now and sinking slowly
And I know in my mind that I have to keep on
But it just doesn't seem the same
When you're losing your way in the rain.

Don't want to go back there again
When you see how far you've come
Trying not to feel lonely and waiting for the sun.

There are times when you're weak
There are times when you're strong
There are times when you are in confusion
And sometimes you feel your direction is wrong
It's not easy to take the strain
When you're losing your way in the rain".

Quote from: Jar of HeartsAnd who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are?

Quote from: MetropolisOh oh, I can't even take it in
Oh oh, I can't even take it in
Oh oh, I left my heart in metropolis

So far apart, I checked but the coast was clear
I feel like a postcard
I wish you were here

Subway through the dark, carriage through the park
Taxi down the street, get out and use my feet
Don't matter much to me what it is that I do
As long as I'm coming home to you

Oh oh oh, as far as I can see
You're the only one, the only one who can get to me
Like a hijacked plane or a runaway train
Or a speeding bullet, there's no stopping this
I left my heart in metropolis

A thousand miles feels like a million years
Like hundreds of postcards that say
I wish you were here (I can't even take it in)
Airplane through the sky, greyhound racing by
Dirt bike on the beach, sailboat on the sea
Don't matter much to me what it is that I do
As long as I'm coming home to you

Oh oh oh, as far as I can see
You're the only one, the only one who can get to me
Like a hijacked plane or a runaway train
Or a speeding bullet, there's no stopping this
I left my heart in metropolis
I left my heart in metropolis

Like a hijacked plane or a runaway train
Or a speeding bullet, there's no stopping this
I left my heart in metropolis
I left my heart in metropolis
I left my heart in metropolis
I left my heart in metropolis

Oh oh, I can't even take it in
Oh oh, I can't even take it in
Oh oh, I can't even take it in
Oh oh, I left my heart in metropolis.

Lifted Up (1985), Passion Pit:

"All my life I stay here waiting
Every new year, always making me
Feel as though there's nothing up there but
One day you came out of nowhere

1985 was a good year
The sky broke apart and you appeared
Dropped from the heavens, they call me a dreamer
I won't lie, I knew you would belong here
Lifted off the ground
I took your hands and pulled you down
Because 1985 was a good year
I won't lie, I knew you would belong here"

Replace 1985 with 2015 and that's me. :P

Dust Bowl Dance by Mumford & Sons

So collect your courage and collect your horse
And pray you never feel this same kind of remorse

Well you are my accuser, now look in my face
Your oppression reeks of your greed and disgrace
So one man has and another has not
How can you love what it is you have got

When you took it all from the weak hands of the poor?
Liars and thieves you know not what is in store
There will come a time I will look in your eye
You will pray to the God that you've always denied

Seal my heart and break my pride
I've nowhere to stand and now nowhere to hide
Align my heart, my body, my mind
To face what I've done and do my time

Well, yes sir, yes sir, yes, it was me
I know what I've done, 'cause I know what I've seen
I went out back and I got my gun
I said, "You haven't met me; I am the only son"

"Rock the Night" by Europe:

"I've gone through changes
I've gone through pain
But there's not enough reason for me to go insane
I know the feeling, when it grows
I'm in a rage up from my head down to my toes.

You know it ain't easy
Running out of thrills
You know it ain't easy
When you don't know what you want.

Rock now, rock the night
'Til early in the morning light
Rock now, rock the night
You'd better believe it's right.

I know my limit
Just what it takes
When things ain't good enough
I just pull the brake
Sometimes it's easy
Sometimes so tough
But just have one thing clear
I can't get enough. "

From Castle of Glass, Linkin Park:

"Take me down to the river bend
Take me down to the fighting end
Wash the poison from off my skin
Show me how to be whole again

Fly me up on a silver wing
Past the black where the sirens sing
Warm me up in a nova's glow
And drop me down to the dream below

'Cause I'm only a crack in this castle of glass
Hardly anything there for you to see

For you to see

Bring me home in a blinding dream,
Through the secrets that I have seen
Wash the sorrow from off my skin
And show me how to be whole again

'Cause I'm only a crack in this castle of glass
Hardly anything there for you to see
For you to see"

"Burning Heart" by Survivor:

"Two worlds collide
Rival nations
It's a primitive clash
Venting years of frustrations
Bravely we hope
Against all hope
There is so much at stake
Seems our freedom's up
Against the ropes
Does the crowd understand?
Is it East versus West
Or man against man
Can any nation stand alone

In the burning Heart
Just about to burst
There's a quest for answers
An unquenchable thirst
In the darkest night
Rising like a spire
In the burning heart
The unmistakable fire

In the burning heart

In the warrious code
There's no surrender
Though his body says stop
His spirit cries - never!
Deep in our soul
A quiet ember
Know it's you against you
It's the paradox
That drives us on
It's a battle of wills
In the heat of attack
It's the passion that kills
The victory is yours alone".

This is one song that I think describes me best, especially when I deal with some of my personal shortcomings and problems:
Monster, Imagine Dragons:
"If I told you what I was,
Would you turn your back on me?
And if I seem dangerous,
Would you be scared?
I get the feeling just because
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
That this problem lies in me

I'm only a man with a candle to guide me,
I'm taking a stand to escape what's inside me.
A monster, a monster,
I've turned into a monster,
A monster, a monster,
And it keeps getting stronger."

Monster? That's a lie and you know it :)

"Different Strokes" by Alan Thicke, Gloria Loring and Al Burton.

"Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum,
What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
A man is born, he's a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans.

But they got, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.

Everybody's got a special kind of story
Everybody finds a way to shine,
It don't matter that you got not alot
So what,
They'll have theirs, and you'll have yours, and I'll have mine.
And together we'll be fine....

Because it takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.
Yes it does.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world".

Hardships get everyone:

"Practice isn't perfect
But the market cuts the loss
I remind myself that times could be much worse
My wife won't ask me questions
There's not so much to ask
And she'll never flaunt around an empty purse

Once my mother-in-law came
Just to stay a couple nights
Then decided she would stay the rest of her life
I watch my little children, play some board game in the kitchen
And I sit and pray they never feel my strife.

But then my partner called to say the pension funds were gone
He made some bad investments, now the accounts are overdrawn

I took a walk"

"Take me away" by Globus:

"Take me away from time and season
Far, far away we'll sing with reason
Prepare a throne of stars above me
As the world once known will leave me

Take me away upon a plateau
Far, far away from fears and shadow
Strengthen my heart in times of sorrow
Light the way to bright tomorrows

Answer our call in desperate hours
Shelter our fall from earthly powers
Temper our souls with flame and furnace
Bear us toward a noble purpose

Heaven hides nothing in it's measure
Mortal men blinded by false treasure
Formless and vanquished we shall travel
Shield and sword will guide our battle".

You're Gonna Go Far, Kid by Offspring

"Slowly out of line and drifting closer in your sights,
So play it out, I'm wide awake,
It's a scene about me...
There's something in your way, and now someone is gonna pay
And if you can't get what you want, well, it's all because of me.

Now dance, f-er, dance; he never had a chance
And no one even knew: it was really only you
So dance, f-er, dance; I never had a chance
It was really only you...

With a thousand lies and a good disguise
Hit 'em right between the eyes, hit 'em right between the eyes
When you walk away, nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes, see 'em running for their lives

Clever alibis, Lord of the Flies
Hit 'em right between the eyes, hit 'em right between the eyes
When you walk away, nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes, see 'em running for their lives."

Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day

"It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right,
I hope you had the time of your life."

Face Down by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

"You cry alone and then he swears he loves you

Do you feel like a man, when you push her around?
Do you feel better now as she falls to the ground?
Well, I'll tell you my friend, one day this world's going to end
As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found

A pebble in the water makes a ripple effect
Every action in this world will bear a consequence
If you wait around forever you will surely drown
I see what's going down

I see the way you go and say you're right again
Say you're right again, heed my lecture

One day she will tell you that she has had enough
It's coming 'round again

Face down in the dirt she says, 'This doesn't hurt'
She says, 'I finally had enough.'"

Wavin' Flag by K'naan

Give me freedom
Give me fire
Give me reason
Take me higher

See the champions
Take the field now
Unify us
Make us feel proud

In the streets, our heads are lifted
As we lose our inhibition
Celebration all around us
Every nation, all around us

Singing forever young
Singing songs underneath the sun
Let's rejoice in the beautiful game
And together at the end of the day
We all say

When I get older, I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom, just like a waving' flag

So many wars, settling scores
Bringing us promises, leaving us poor
I heard them say 'Love is the way'
'Love is the answer,' that's what they say

But look how they treat us, make us believers
We fight their battles, then they deceive us
Try to control us, they couldn't hold us
'Cause we just move forward like Buffalo Soldiers

But we struggling, fighting to eat
And we wondering, when we'll be free
So we patiently wait for that faithful day
It's not far away, but for now we say

When I get older, I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom just like a wavin' flag."

From High School Never Ends by Bowling For Soup (A catchy social critique)

When the only thing that matters

Chorus is fine too; I put one in my first post.

From His World (Zebrahead):
In this world (His world!) Where life is strong
In this world (His world!) Life's an open book
In this world (His world!) Where compromise does not exist
In his world of worlds, every step meets the rest!
In this world (His world!) Where one is all
In this world (His world!) Never fear the fall
In this world (His world!) Where compromise does not exist
In his world of worlds, every step meets the rest!

From Am I Wrong (Nico and Vinz):
"Am I wrong for thinking out the box from where I stay?
Am I wrong for saying that I choose another way?

I ain't tryna do what everybody else doing
Just cause everybody doing what they all do
If one thing I know, I'll fall but I'll grow
I'm walking down this road of mine, this road that I call home

...

Am I tripping for having a vision?
My prediction: I'm a be on top of the world

Walk to walk and don't look back, always do what you decide
Don't let them control your life, that's just how I feel
Fight for yours and don't let go, don't let them compare you, no
Don't worry, you're not alone, that's just how we feel

Am I wrong (am I wrong)
For thinking that we could be something for real?
(Oh yeah yeah yeah oh)
Now am I wrong (am I wrong)
For trying to reach the things that I can't see?
(Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah)

But that's just how I feel,
That's just how I feel
That's just how I feel
Trying to reach the things that I can't see

If you tell me I'm wrong, wrong
I don't wanna be right, right
If you tell me I'm wrong, wrong
I don't wanna be right"

"Vivimos siempre juntos" by Nacho Cano:

"Subimos la montaña de
riñas y batallas,
vencimos al orgullo
sopesando las palabras.
Pasamos por los puentes
de celos y de historias,
prohibimos a la mente
confundirse con
memorias.
Nadamos por las olas de
la inercia y la rutina,
con la ayuda del amor.
vivimos siempre juntos, y
moriremos juntos,
allá donde vayamos
seguirán nuestros asuntos.
No te sueltes la mano que el viaje es infinito,
y yo cuido que el viento no despeine tu
flequillo,
y llegará el momento
que las almas se confundan en un mismo
corazón".

"Read all about it" by Emeli Sande.

"You've got the words to change a nation
But you're biting your tongue
You've spent a life time stuck in silence
Afraid you'll say something wrong
If no one ever hears it how we gonna learn your song?

So come on, come on
Come on, come on
You've got a heart as loud as lightning
So why let your voice be tamed?
Maybe we're a little different
There's no need to be ashamed
You've got the light to fight the shadows
So stop hiding it away
Come on, come on

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream 'til the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers,
I'm not afraid
They can read all about it
Read all about it, oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh

At night we're waking up the neighbors
While we sing away the blues
Making sure that we're remembered, yeah
'Cause we all matter too
If the truth has been forbidden
Then we're breaking all the rules".

"Oh my story is not the oldest of it's kind.
I was too touched to see you clearly,
far too young to realize I had loved so dearly you,
who's world I had designed,
but the sweet smoke came with mirrors
and it brought tears to my wide eyes.
Dying just to see you...
dying since I misconstrued your blue heart,
black eyes, feigning falling, words I won't forget.
I died right when I saw you while you shared that cigarette.

Oh I saw you every time I closed my eyes,
in the Hughes film I had scored,
produced and starred in, in my mind.
I could recite you, well, I'd written every line...
but you strayed far from my flawless script
on which I'd spent a lifetime!
Falling over dead.
Dying since I had misread your blue heart,
black eyes, feigning falling, words I won't forget.
I died right when I saw you while you shared that cigarette."

"In this life" by Delta Goodrem:

"I was nurtured, I was sheltered
I was curious and young
I was searching for that something
Trying to find it on the run

Oh, and just when I stopped looking
I saw just how far I'd come
In this life, in this life

You give me love, you give me light
Show me everything's been happening
I've opened up my eyes, I'm following

Three steps fight an honest fight
Two hearts that can start a fire
One love is all I need in this life

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
In this life
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa

I have faltered, I have stumbled
I have found my feet again
I've been angry and I've been shaken
Found a new place to begin

And my persistence to make a difference
Has led me safe into your hands
In this life, in this life

You give me love, you give me light
Show me everything's been happening
I've opened up my eyes, I'm following

Three steps fight an honest fight
Two hearts that can start a fire
One love is all I need in this life".

From "One Day Too Late" by Skillet:

"Tick tock hear the clock countdown
Wish the minute hand could be rewound
So much to do and so much I need to say
Will tomorrow be too late

Feel the moment slip into the past
Like sand through an hourglass
In the madness I guess I just forget
To do all the things I said

Time passes by
Never thought I'd wind up
One step behind

Now I've made my mind up

Today I'm gonna try a little harder
Gonna make every minute last longer
Gonna learn to forgive and forget
'Cause we don't have long, gonna make the most of it

Today I'm gonna love my enemies
Reach out to somebody who needs me
Make a change, make the world a better place
'Cause tomorrow could be one day too late

One day too late
One day too late

Tick tock hear my life pass by
I can't erase and I can't rewind
Of all the things I regret the most I do...
Wish I'd spent more time with you

Here's my chance for a new beginning
I saved the best for a better ending
And in the end I'll make it up to you, you'll see
You'll get the very best of me

...

Your time is running out
You're never gonna get it back
Make the most of every moment
Stop saving the best for last

This one doesn't have some deep meaning, I just like it.

This is gospel
For the fallen ones
Locked away in permanent slumber
Assembling their philosophies
From pieces of broken memories.
...
Their gnashing teeth and criminal tongues
Conspire against the odds
But they haven't seen the best of us yet.
...
This is gospel
For the vagabonds
N'er-do-wells and insufferable b-rds
Confessing their apostasies
Led away by imperfect impostors.
...
Don't try to sleep through the end of the world
Bury me alive
'Cause I won't give up without a fight.
~ This is Gospel, Panic! At the Disco (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9eG4ZXEAd4). (Swearing)

Do or die
You'll never make me
Because the world
Will never take my heart
Go and try
You'll never break me
We want it all
We want to play this part.

I won't explain
Or say I'm sorry
I'm unashamed
I'm gonna show my scar
Give a cheer
For all the broken
Listen here
Because it's who we are.
~ Welcome to the Black Parade, My Chemical Romance (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-q9q6zl3WIs).

They're gonna clean up your looks
With all the lies in the books
To make a citizen out of you
Because they sleep with a gun
And keep an eye on you son
So they can watch all the things you do.

Because the drugs never work
They're gonna give you a smirk
'Cause they got methods of keeping you clean
They're gonna rip up your heads
Your aspirations to shreds
Another cog in the murder machine.
~ Teenagers, My Chemical Romance (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=updoMIHMBbU). (Swearing)

Cleaned up corporation progress
Dying in the process
Children that can talk about it
Living on the webways
People moving sideways
Sell it 'til your last days
Buy yourself the motivation
Generation nothing
Nothing but a dead scene
Product of a white dream
I am not the singer that you wanted
But a dancer
I refuse to answer
Talk about the past, sir
Wrote it for the ones that want to get away.
~ SING, My Chemical Romance (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ks6Kiw_PuyI).

You were called like a curtain,
split like a second,
broken like a sword stuck in a rock
forged for a hero,
birthed forth for a heart much purer than his/mine/ours.
It's uncertain when the tables turned,
but when all of your brothers have given their lives
for the strife you earned, you will get burned
and it wont get better when put on ice.
...
And you have to ignore it,
don't think about before,
you've got enough fight inside to fill five world wars.
It's just a game, just another cause,
you're a switch and I'm a cog
and last thing we need is another broken clock.
So forget about your ghost limbs
and all those things that scared you most as a child of 12.
You see I'm 13 now, and if I die for the thousandth time,
I'm unafraid, for I outnumber hell.
~ Our Aftermath, PhemieC (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RlDIRDSUNs).

No more attempts to make you see, I tried, he succeeded, oh well
but what I can say to a girl who'd play with a noose of excuses until
her big wicked grin disappears in the smoke, and crack goes the rope pulled true
I know enough about doubt, and hating myself, to tell that you now know it too.
...
Said a thousands words but they never helped
I hid my scars from you out of shame
Took up the cause, Yeah I took the helm
But I'm not the only one who's changed
I knew you first, I knew you best
I wish I'd stopped it way back then
when things were bad, but they still made sense
when we were kids, when we were friends.
~ Friend, Leader, PhemieC (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr_cc7nZsDQ).

One of me is my enemy
The other me is a pretty cool guy
But I haven't seen him around lately
We don't see eye to eye.

Full song

I am an island, no man is an island but me
I reach out my leaves, and skillfully touch them to sea
I ship out a boat made of hope on the waves and watch as it slips below
I am an island, a island that nobody knows.

I am an island, no man is an island but I'm not a man
I was raised by an ocean of creatures and brands
I give what I can of the fruits and flowers that bloom on my skin
But when loneliness knocks, she lets herself in.

Islands don't sink, the water just rises around us
Just think, someone out there is watching the stars
but they're not the same as ours, some say they're already dead,
and the light's only on in your head.

I am an island, no man is an island but me,
I warm all my sands by the pyre of my family tree
I took to the tundra, I climb every mountain and fight every monster I can
to run from that long burning fire, my friend.

I am an island, no man is an island but I'm not a man
And messages in bottles feel like battering rams
In my head I'm a beacon, a pinprick of potential, birthed out of nothing but blue
And the light that I signal, it's shining for you.

Islands of love, we just want somebody to touch us
Just 'cause we are distant doesn't mean we are lost
we are where we are, and whenever a visitor docks
and is stranded, it means we are not.

You and I have something in common, I will try to share my island.
You and I are sinking in tandem, miles apart in every direction.
You and I are treading this current, both of us are doomed for certain.
You and I are our own now, maybe we'll wash up on solid ground.

You and I are Islands. (x4)

Islands of fate, lately I feel the tides shifting
They're bringing us closer together to stay
The waters are rippling, a new world is taking it's shape
and tonight, our Pangaea awaits.
~ I am an Island, PhemieC (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUcDQalvCsI).

Full song

Death wears a welcoming mask
but its benevolence is debated
under every single question we ask.

Our task is not an easy one, dear brother
we must assist each other

if we're to make it through
I'm just as terrified as you
but surely there's something to look forward to.

Somewhere, there's a world we were meant to create
but it seems that we are not stronger than fate
you look my way,
what can I say?
I wish I believed things will be okay.

Throughout these darkened halls
and these obsidian towers
there's a presence gliding through the walls
as we approach our final hours.

Knee Socks, Arctic Monkeys.

You got the lights on in the afternoon
And the nights are drawn out long
And you're kissing to cut through the gloom
With a cough drop coloured tongue
And you were sitting in the corner with the coats all piled high
And I thought you might be mine
In a small world on an exceptionally rainy Tuesday night
In the right place and time

I like this song.

There's a lot of lyrics, like parts from Spirit in the Sky and R U Mine (Norman Greenbaum and Arctic Monkeys respectively) that I like as well.

From Brother, my Brother by Blessid Union of Souls:

"We face each other from different sides
The anger burns can't remember why
It's kind of crazy to cause such pain
Our foolish pride makes us hate this way

We watch our world fall apart
Tell me what good is winning
When you lose your heart

Brother my brother
Tell me what are we fighting for
Isn't life worth so much more
We should love one another
Oh, can't we just pretend
This war never began
Tell me why
Brother my brother

Yes
We can try
Brother my brother
Yes

Let's take a moment and look deep inside
And say we're willing to give love a try
We're not as different as we seem to be
There's so much more to me than what you see

You don't have to be this way
Think about the consequences
Turn around and walk away
"

A house divided cannot stand. I'd beg for you, you don't seem to mind! I'm bending over backwards, your not satisfied! What more can I offer to lay upon the altar?!?! Your love is gone, cause' it all comes down to you."

Beer for my Horses-

Justice is the one you should always find,
You gotta saddle up your horse,
You gotta draw the hard line,
When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune,
And we'll all meet back at the local saloon.

We raise up our glasses against evil forces,
Singing whisky for our men,
Beer for our horses

Hard Corps-

My chin in the air with my head held high,
I'll stand in the path of the enemy line,
Feel no fear, know my pride,
For God and country I will end your life.

Battle Cry-

If we believe, we can't lose
Even mountains will move,
Its my faith, its our my, this is our battle cry.

They can't take us down,
If we stand our ground,
If we live, if we die, we will shout out,
Our Battle Cry!

Concrete Angel, Martina McBride:

"Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel
...
A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot"

If I Die Young, The Band Perry:

"Who would have thought forever could be severed by...
...the sharp knife of a short life, oh well?
I've had just enough time
...
A penny for my thoughts, oh, no, I'll sell 'em for a dollar
They're worth so much more after I'm a goner
And maybe then you'll hear the words I been singin'
Funny when you're dead how people start listenin' "

Hall of Fame, The Script

"Yeah, you can be the greatest
You can be the best
You can be the King Kong banging on your chest

You can beat the world
You can beat the war
You can talk to God, go banging on his door

You can throw your hands up
You can beat the clock (yeah)
You can move a mountain
You can break rocks
You can be a master
Don't wait for luck
Dedicate yourself and you gon' find yourself

Standing in the hall of fame (yeah)
And the world's gonna know your name (yeah)
'Cause you burn with the brightest flame (yeah)
And the world's gonna know your name (yeah)
And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame
...
Yeah, do it for your people
Do it for your pride
How are you ever gonna know if you never even try?

Do it for your country
Do it for your name
'Cause there's gonna be a day...
...
Be a champion, be a champion, be a champion, be a champion
On the walls of the hall of fame"

This kind of describes me and a close friend. We like the same stuff, just on opposite ends of the spectrum. (E.g. I'm iPhone, He's Galaxy Note. Although I've made sure he stays pro-Mac and iPad; music streaming, but I'm Apple Music, he's Spotify; cars, but he's Mercedes and I'm Lexus or Audi; he's Ford and I'm Volkswagen; etc.)

"My life, your life
Don't cross them lines
What you like, what I like
Why can't we both be right?
Attacking, defending
Until there's nothing left worth winning
Your pride and my pride
Don't waste my time

I don't wanna fight no more"

I just discovered this song and I like it. Personally, I think it fits me (to an extent).

"I was pulling out my hair the day I got the deal
Chemically calm
Was I meant to feel happy
That my life was just about to change?

One life pretending to be
The cat who got the cream
Oh, everybody said,
"Marina is a dreamer."
People like to tell you what you're gonna be
It's not my problem if you don't see what I see
And I do not give a (darn) if you don't believe
My problem, it's my problem
That I never am happy
It's my problem, it's my problem
On how fast I will succeed

Are you satisfied with an average life?
Do I need to lie to make my way in life?

High achiever don't you see
Baby, nothing comes for free
They say I'm a control freak
Driven by a greed to succeed

Nobody can stop me
...
Are you satisfied with an easy ride
Once you cross the line
Will you be satisfied?

Sad inside
In this life
Unsatisfied praying
Sad inside
In this life
Unsatisfied waiting
...
Black, white
(Are you satisfied, are you satisfied?)"

And what's he gonna do to me that I haven't already seen?
You'll never stop me; you know it's everything to me

We'll never stop
Cause we're only getting better

"Hey, once upon a younger year
When all our shadows disappeared
The animals inside came out to play
Hey, went face to face with all our fears
Learned our lessons through the tears
Made memories we knew would never fade

One day my father—he told me,
"Son, don't let it slip away."
He took me in his arms, I heard him say,

"When you get older
Your wild heart will live for younger days
Think of me if ever you're afraid.
"

He said, "One day you'll leave this world behind
So live a life you will remember.
"
My father told me when I was just a child
These are the nights that never die
My father told me

When thunder clouds start pouring down
Light a fire they can't put out
Carve your name into those shining stars
He said, "Go venture far beyond these shores.
Don't forsake this life of yours.
I'll guide you home no matter where you are.

Polaroid by Imagine Dragons

"I'm a first class letdown
I'm a 'shut up, sit down'

"All my life, I've been living in the fast lane
Can't slow down, I'm a rolling freight train

"I am a headcase
I am the color of boom
That's never arriving, and
You are the opera
Always on time and in tune
And I am the color of boom"

I Bet My Life by Imagine Dragons

"I know I took the path that you would never want for me
I know I let you down, didn't I?
So many sleepless nights where you were waiting up on me
Well I'm just a slave unto the night.

"Now remember when I told you that's the last you'll see of me,
Remember when I broke you down to tears
I know I took the path that you would never want for me
I gave you hell through all the years
I've been around the world and never in my wildest dreams
Would I come running home to you
I've told a million lies but now I tell a single truth:
There's you in everything I do"

Angel with a Shotgun by The Cab

"They say before you start a war,
You better know what you're fighting for.

"Don't you know you're everything I have?
And I wanna live, not just survive tonight."

City by Hollywood Undead

"I will not die in the night but in the light

"I miss the days being kids simply holding hands

Wish I could dissect your brain apart

The Word, Sara Groves

"I've done every devotional
Been every place emotional
Trying to hear a new word from God
And I think it's very odd,
that while I attempt to help myself
My Bible sits upon my shelf
With every promise
I could ever need
...
People are getting fit for Truth
Like they're buying a new tailored suit
Does it fit across the shoulders
Does it fade when it gets older
We throw ideas that aren't in style
In the Salvation Army pile
And search for something more to meet our needs"

Prism of Life, Enigma
"I am hunted by the future
Will the future be my past?
Or is time a fade out picture
Of my everlasting cast?
Love is phasing
Love is moving
To the rhythm of your sight
I get closer
To the crossing point of light
...
Let us try to live our lost illusions
They're the sun at night
If we don't we'll never taste
The spice of life

And when it seems that we're in a dead end street
There's no reason to cry
Cause we have a helping hand who's always aside
Forever light"

The Child in Us, Enigma
"Some day you came
And I knew you were the one
You were the rain, you were the sun
But I needed both, cause I needed you
You were the one
I was dreaming of all my life
When it is dark you are my light
But don't forget
Who's always our guide
It is the child in us"

"Put to rest what you thought of me
While I clean this slate
With the hands of uncertainty
So let mercy come and wash away
What I've done
I'll face myself to cross out what I've become
Erase myself
And let go of what I've done
For what I've done
I start again
And whatever pain may come
Today this ends
I'm forgiving what I've done
I'll face myself to cross out what I've become
Erase myself
And let go of what I've done"

I remember down in Houston
We were puttin' on a show
When a cowboy in the back stood up and yelled,
"Cotton-Eyed Joe"!
He said, "we love what you're doin'.
Boys don't get us wrong,
There's just somethin' missin' in your song.

If you're gonna play in Texas,
You gotta have a fiddle in the band.
That lead guitar is hot,
But not for "Lousiana man".
So rosin up that bow for "faded love"
And let's all dance.
If you're gonna play in Texas,
You gotta have a fiddle in the band.

So we dusted off our boots and put our cowboy hats on straight.
Them Texans raised the roof when Jeff opened up his case.
You say y'all all wanna two-step. you say ya wanna doe-si-doe.
Well, here's a fiddlin' song before we go.

If you're gonna play in Texas,
You gotta have a fiddle in the band.
That lead guitar is hot,
But not for "Lousiana man".
So rosin up that bow for "faded love"
And let's all dance.
If you're gonna play in Texas,
You gotta have a fiddle in the band.  If Your Gonna Play in Texas By Alabama For whatever reason

I found another interesting song. From Moment of Peace by Gregorian:

"Come now, come by our side,
Into a place where you can hide,
We are the sunshine,
Rest your soul here,
And you'll find,
We are the energy,
We give the world to thee,
Hold up your heart now,
We will ease pain from your brow.

In a world without angels,
And destruction is near,
You can come with us here.

When the people are strangers,
We will rest here and be,
In a moment of peace.

...

Light up the dark below,
See through the stars,
Reach to the earth's flow
Drift into the joy of our hearts,
Unleash the energy,
Taste of the wine,
Drink as a soul,
That knows now, power divine.

When the world is in tatters,
And destruction is near,
You can come with us here.
When the people are strangers,
We will rest here and be,
In a moment of peace."

"Well you came to me, like a ray of light
So suddenly, a beautiful surprise
My universe alight, and it all seemed right

But I was unwise, and fooled myself
Pretending you or I were somebody else
Cos I can't speak the language that you need
And it's killing me

If I cry for you, would you turn me away
If I die for you, would you beg me to stay
If I try to, read your mystery mind
One thought at a time
If I...

Would it be so hard, for you to let me in
Would it hurt too much, to shed your skin
Your rules, your games, but it's my heart at stake
Watch it as it breaks

If I cry for you, would you turn me away
If I die for you, would you beg me to stay
If I try to, read your mystery mind
One thought at a time
If I..."
If I, Ross Copperman
(I find these lyrics kinda ironic because it was V who said I should listen to the song, and yet, it describes me in relation to her quite well. Particularly those first two stanzas, pretty much word-for-word.)

So I walk alone down the darkest roads
'Cause I've always known how the story goes
When the curtain falls, I'll be wearing thin
Clawing at the walls as they're closing in
In this twisted plot I was destined for
I'm an astronaut on the ocean floor
So misunderstood 'till the bloody end
How I wish I could do it all again

It feels like I'm a lone survivor
Forgotten in a dark and deadly world
And on my own I walk alone
To see the sun again I'd give anything
But life demands a final chapter
A story that we all must leave behind
It's do or die, and this is mine
The anthem of a bird with a broken wing

It's another night of the living dead
Like a viper bite in a spiderweb
It's so deathly dark in the alleyway
And a bleeding heart makes you easy prey
I would run and hide for the afternoon
With the butterfly in the panic room
Though I won't be missed, I would say it's time
For a different twist in the story line

It feels like I'm a lone survivor
Forgotten in a dark and deadly world
And on my own I walk alone
To see the sun again I'd give anything
But life demands a final chapter
A story that we all must leave behind
It's do or die, and this is mine
The anthem of a bird with a broken wing
The anthem of a bird with a broken wing

It feels like I'm a lone survivor
Forgotten in a dark and deadly world
And on my own I walk alone
To see the sun again I'd give anything
But life demands a final chapter
A story that we all must leave behind
It's do or die, and this is mine
The anthem of a bird with a broken wing
The anthem of a bird with a broken wing
The anthem of a bird with a broken wing

Tell the world I know that my mind is made
It's a horror show, but I'm not afraid
Though I won't be missed, I would say it's time
For a different twist in the story line

Blood was our inheritance
No, we did not ask for this

Will you lead me?

We were young when we heard you call our names in the silence
Like a fire in the dark
Like a sword upon our hearts
We came down to the water and we begged for forgiveness
Shadows lurking close behind
We were fleeing for our lives

Will you lead me?"

From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done

There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round

It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love

Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life

It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love

Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life

"We won't stop
No we won't
We won't stop
No

To those I've called friends
To those I don't know
All the places we've been
Oh all the places we'll go
You see,
Every ending's the start of a beginning
Every defeat gets you closer to winning
Yeah, its all about perspective
That's why my frowns are the reason that I'm grinning

How could I love the peaks
If I've never seen the valleys
Its like loving the streets
But not knowing 'bout the alleys
This life's not over
Haven't seen the finale
There's eyes on your life
So at least try to make yours a pep rally

Under the lights
Heart is on fire
Start of the night
This here this is it
Its time to go into the unknown
Take a breath now
Find your voice and shout

...

I know that this is the moment
To make my move
And I'm staring at my fate
This is the moment my time to prove
That I won't walk away
They call this the present 'cause today is a gift
Waitin' on opportunity
Is opportunity missed

Hands Down, Dashboard Confessional (Lovey song, so it's in here)
"My hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me.
So won't you kill me, so I die happy.
My heart is yours to fill or burst,
to break or bury, or wear as jewelery,
which ever you prefer.

Hands down this is the best day I can ever remember,
I'll always remember the sound of the stereo,
the dim of the soft lights,
the scent of your hair that you twirled in your fingers
and the time on the clock when we realized it's so late
and this walk that we shared together.
The streets were wet
and the gate was locked so I jumped it,
and I let you in.
And you stood at your door with your hands on my waist
and you kissed me like you meant it.
And I knew that you meant it,
that you meant it,
that you meant it,
and I knew,
that you meant it,
that you meant it."

Nobody's Perfect, Hannah Montana:

"Everybody makes mistakes... Everybody has those days... Everybody knows what what I'm talkin' 'bout... Everybody gets that way...
...
Nobody's Perfect!
I gotta work it!
Again and again 'til I get it right
Nobody's Perfect!
You live and you learn it!
And if I mess it up sometimes...
Nobody's perfect
...
My intentions are good
Sometimes just misunderstood

Where sun and wind play
On a ring of bright water
That's where my heart land will be
The deer on the hill
In the first snow of winter
The gull in the sky winging free
I wandered away
From the dark crowded city
Leaving my old life behind
And came to a place
Where a ring of bright water
Dazzled the cares from my mind
So I live with the wonder
Of the sky and the sea
And I'll always remember
Who revealed them
To me

"This Song Saved My Life" by Simple Plan

I want to start by letting you know this
Because of you, my life has a purpose
You helped me be who I am today
I see myself in every word you say
Sometimes it feels like nobody gets me
Trapped in a world where everyone hates me
There's so much that I'm going through
I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you

You'll never know what it means to me
That I'm not alone
That I'll never have to be

I was broken
I was choking
I was lost
This song saved my life
I was bleeding
Stopped believing
Could have died
This song saved my life
I was down
I was drowning
But it came on just in time
This song saved my life

"Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance

And when you're gone we want you all to know.

We'll carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And in my heart I can't contain it
The anthem won't explain it

A world that sends you reeling from decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all
So paint it black and take it back
Let's shout it loud and clear
Defiant to the end we hear the call

On and on we carry through the fears
Disappointed faces of your peers
Take a look at me cause I could not care at all

Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we want to play this part
I won't explain or say I'm sorry
I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scar
Give a cheer for all the broken
Listen here, because it's who we are
I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
Just a boy, who had to sing this song
I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
I
Don't
Care!

"21 Guns" by Green Day

When you're at the end of the road
And you lost all sense of control
And your thoughts have taken their toll
When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul
Your faith walks on broken glass
And the hangover doesn't pass
Nothing's ever built to last
You're in ruins

Did you try to live on your own
When you burned down the house and home?
Did you stand too close to the fire?
Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone
When it's time to live and let die
And you can't get another try
Something inside this heart has died
You're in ruins

Long
Desparate, Lecrae ft. Cam

Woke up this morning too depressed and shamed to leave my bed
Can't stand to see my own reflection so I hang my head
Feel like a disappointment like the scum of the earth
I'm so hurt I know you see I can't cover my dirt
My soul's dying heart's weak and I can't even cry
I'm supposed to run to you but why I'm such an evil guy
The sun's shining but for me it's the darkest of days
Try to pretend it never happened but the guilt remains
I leave the house it feels like everybody knows I did it
Feels like they reading my mind and know the sin I committed
Through your blood I'm aquitted but my heart doesn't get it
Oh God I'm desperate for help cause I'm grieving your Spirit
I couldn't sing in the Sunday service, Lord I felt fake
And when they started communion I just made an escape
I'm in need of your grace
Feels like you hid your face
Lead me back to cross and show me my sins erased

I'm waist deep in my pity
Is Satan trying to trick me and tell me you won't forgive me
'Cause it's starting to get me
Jesus help me quickly I hate wrong I've done
I know we all fall but I feel like the only one
Feels like I should be shunned
Should I punish myself
I know it's dumb cause by your death all my sin has been dealt
But my sin is been felt
I didn't want to do it
But what I want to do I don't
I swear I'm gonna to lose it
Try to open my Bible I need to read your pages

I need you Lord but my guilt has got me feeling so faithless
Help me see where your face is
Take me back to the basics
Help me find my joy in you and not people and places
My sin is ever before me I turned my back on you
Oh Father break and restore me to bring me back to you

Have mercy on me God according to your steady love
Wipe away my transgression and wash me in your blood
Create in me a clean heart renew a right spirit
Don't take your Spirit away your Presence keep me near it
I'm waiting patience on you Lord I know you hear my cry
Restore your joy in me
For you alone I live and die

It's you I glorify cause you don't want my sacrifice
You want me broken and contrite trusting in the Christ
I confess to you my sin and you show me mercy
I turn away from it demonstrating that you are worthy
Over lust, over pride, over all sin
Is my affection for Jesus is who died for all them
I was lost now I'm found I was tossed to the ground
My sin weighed on me heavy but I am no longer bound
As sure as Christ wears the crown
I know that grace will abound
And even when I feel lost I know in You I am found

Mhera, those lyrics are relatable and great. Did I mention that I really like this thread? :P We post such interesting things.

"But plant your hope with good seeds
Don't cover yourself with thistle and weeds

Rain down, rain down on me

Look over your hills and be still
The sky above us shoots to kill
Rain down, rain down on me

Oh I will hold on
I will hold on hope"

~ Thistle and Weeds, Mumford and Sons

"Life is chances that are taken
But nothing's ever broken
They're just pieces on the ground
New hands need to build them"
~ Touch, Troye Sivan

"Let's go have fun, you and me in the old Jeep
Ride around town with our rifles on the front seat
Fun, you and me in the Middle East
Shooting at rocks, bullets cocked in the midday sun"
~ Fun, Troye Sivan
Chorus but whatever.

"Kiss me on the mouth and set me free
Sing me like a choir
I can be the subject of your dreams
Your sickening desire
Don't you want to see a man up close?
A phoenix in the fire
So kiss me on the mouth and set me free
But please don't bite"
~ Bite, Troye Sivan
Again, chorus.

"I am tired of this place, I hope people change
I need time to replace what I gave away
And my hopes, they are high, I must keep them small
Though I try to resist I still want it all"
~ Fools, Troye Sivan

"I see swimming pools and living rooms and aeroplanes
I see a little house on the hill and children's names
I see quiet nights poured over ice and Tanqueray
But everything is shattering and it's my mistake"
~ Fools, Troye Sivan

"I'm down to my skin and bone
And my mommy, she can't put down the phone
And stop asking how I'm doing all alone, alone
But the truth is the stars are falling, ma
And the wolves are out a-calling, ma
And my home has never felt this far"
~ Ease, Troye Sivan

"But all this driving
Is driving me crazy
And all this moving
Is proving to get the best of me
And I've been trying to hide it
But lately
Every time I think I'm better
Pickin' my head up, getting nowhere"
~ Ease, Troye Sivan

"Take me back to the basics and the simple life
Tell me all of the things that make you feel at ease
Your touch, my comfort, and my lullaby
Holdin' on tight and sleepin' at night"
~ Ease, Troye Sivan
Chorus again.

"The truth is, the stars are falling, babe
And I'd never ever thought that I would say
I'm afraid of the life that I've made, I've made"
~ Ease, Troye Sivan

"I've been lyin' to them all
I don't need it anymore
Don't you worry about me
I'll be fine if I can breathe
I've been hidin' for too long
Taking [bad stuff] for how I'm wrong"
~ Ease, Troye Sivan

"This separation,
time and space between us
For some revelation
You didn't care to discuss
I'd rather be black and blue
Than accept that you withdrew"
~ The Quiet, Troye Sivan

"Just tell me
Say anything
Anything hurts less than the quiet"
~ The Quiet, Troye Sivan
Chorus.

"And I don't wanna walk away
But you left me no choice
Only talking to myself here
Now you've muffled your voice
I'd rather have broken bones
Than feel myself turn to stone"
~ The Quiet, Troye Sivan

"I wanna hold hands with you
But that's all I wanna do right now
And I wanna get close to you
Cause your hands and lips still know their way around
And I know I like to draw at night; it starts to get surreal
But the less time that I spend with you, the less you need to heal"
~ Talk Me Down, Troye Sivan

"This voice inside
Has been eating at me
Trying to replace the love that I fake
With what we both need

The truth runs wild
Like kids on concrete
Trying to sedate, my mind in it's cage
And numb what I see

Awake, wide eyed
I'm screaming at me
Trying to keep faith and picture his face
Staring up at me"
~ Heaven, Troye Sivan

"Without losing a piece of me
How do I get to heaven?
Without changing a part of me
How do I get to heaven?
All my time is wasted
Feeling like my heart's mistaken, oh
So if I'm losing a piece of me
Maybe I don't want heaven?"
~ Heaven, Troye Sivan
Chorus.

"The truth runs wild
Like the rain to the sea
Trying to set straight the lines that I trace
To find some relief
This voice inside
Has been eating at me
Trying to embrace the picture I paint
And colour me free"
~ Heaven, Troye Sivan

"What if
What if we start to drive
What if
What if we close our eyes
What if
Speeding through red lights into paradise
Cause we've no time for getting old
Mortal bodies; timeless souls
Cross your fingers, here we go"
~ Youth, Troye Sivan

"Yeah, the truth is that I'm sorry
Though I told you not to worry
I'm just some dumb kid
Trying to kid myself
That I got my [stuff] together"
~ Lost Boy, Troye Sivan

"I say I wanna settle down
Build your hopes up like a tower
I'm giving you the run around
I'm just a lost boy
Not ready to be found"
~ Lost Boy, Troye Sivan
Chorus.

"I don't care much for locks on the window
To keep me at bay
I'll leave you one last kiss on your pillow
Before I fly away

Yeah, we knew from the beginning
That this wasn't never ending
Shouldn't stay too long
Cause we're both too young
To give into forever"
~ Lost Boy, Troye Sivan

"So what are you waiting for?
Cause someone could love you more
I'm just a lost boy"
~ Lost Boy, Troye Sivan

"We are runnin' so fast
And we never look back
And whatever I lack, you make up
We make a really good team
And though not everyone sees
We got this crazy chemistry
Between us"
~ For Him, Troye Sivan

"You don't have to say I love you to say I love you
Forget all the shooting stars and all the silver moons
We've been making shades of purple out of red and blue
Sickeningly sweet like honey, don't need money
All I need is you"
~ For Him, Troye Sivan
Chorus.

"Yeah, there's so much history in these streets
And mama's good eats
And Wonder on repeat
There's so much history in my head
The people I've left
The ones that I've kept"
~ Suburbia, Troye Sivan

"Have you heard me on the radio?
Did you turn it up?
On your blown-out stereo
In suburbia
Could be playing hide and seek from home
Can't replace my blood
Yeah, it seems I'm never letting go
Of suburbia"
~ Suburbia, Troye Sivan
Chorus.

"They all say that nothing ever changes
Through the new lines that are on their faces"
~ Suburbia, Troye Sivan

"I know you're seeing black and white
So I'll paint you a clear blue sky
Without you I am colour-blind
It's raining every time I open my eyes"
~ Blue, Troye Sivan

"Do I look lonely?
I see the shadows on my face
People have told me I don't look the same
Maybe I lost weight
I'm playing hooky, with the best of the best
Put my heart on my chest, so that you can see it too

I'm walking the long road, watching the sky fall
The lace in your dress tingles my neck, how do I live?

The death of a bachelor
Oh
Letting the water fall
The death of a bachelor
Oh
Seems so fitting for
Happily ever after
Oo
How could I ask for more?
A lifetime of laughter
At the expense of the death of a bachelor"

Yes... This is the whole song xD

We are two mariners
Our ship's sole survivors
In this belly of a whale
It's ribs are ceiling beams
It's guts are carpeting
I guess we have some time to kill

You may not remember me
I was a child of three
And you, a lad of eighteen
But, I remember you
And I will relate to you
How our histories interweave
At the time you were
A rake and a roustabout
Spending all your money
On the whores and hounds
(oh, oh)

You had a charming air
All cheap and debonair
My widowed mother found so sweet
And so she took you in
Her sheets still warm with him
Now filled with filth and foul disease
As time wore on you proved
A debt-ridden drunken mess
Leaving my mother
A poor consumptive wretch
(oh, oh)

And then you disappeared
Your gambling arrears
The only thing you left behind
And then the magistrate
Reclaimed our small estate
And my poor mother lost her mind
Then, one day in spring
My dear sweet mother died
But, before she did
I took her hand as she, dying, cried:
(oh, oh)

"Find him, Bind him
Tie him to a pole and break
His fingers to splinters
Drag him to a hole until he
Wakes up naked
Clawing at the ceiling
Of his grave"

It took me fifteen years
To swallow all my tears
Among the urchins in the street
Until a priory
Took pity and hired me
To keep their vestry nice and neat
But, never once in the employ
Of these holy men
Did I ever, once turn my mind
From the thought of revenge
(oh, oh)

One night I overheard
The prior exchanging words
With a penitent whaler from the sea
The captain of his ship
Who matched you toe to tip
Was known for wanton cruelty
The following day
I shipped to sea
With a privateer
And in the whistle
Of the wind
I could almost hear
(oh, oh)

"Find him, Bind him
Tie him to a pole and break
His fingers to splinters
Drag him to a hole until he
Wakes up naked
Clawing at the ceiling
Of his grave

There is one thing I must say to you
As you sail across the sea
Always, your mother will watch over you
As you avenge this wicked deed"

And then, that fateful night
We had you in our sight
After twenty months at sea
Your starboard flank abeam
I was getting my muskets clean
When came this rumbling from beneath
The ocean shook
The sky went black
And the captain quailed
And before us grew
The angry jaws
Of a giant whale

Don't know how I survived
The crew all was chewed alive
I must have slipped between his teeth
But, oh, what providence
What divine intelligence
That you should survive
As well as me
It gives my heart great joy
To see your eyes fill with fear
So lean in close
And I will whisper
The last words you'll hear
(oh, oh)

@blaggut isnt that by the decemberists? ... the mariners song right? have you ever seen that art video for it on youtube?

This chest is full of memories
Of gold and silver tears
I'll give you more to own than
All of this
And I'll give you more than years
For you were once a child of
Innocence
And I see you just the same
Your burdens couldn't win or
Lose a thing
Oh, I'd tell you once
Again
But you're always on
The run

Slow your breath down
Just take it slow
Find your heart now, oh
You can trust and love again
Slow your breath down, just take it slow
Find your smile now, oh

You can trust and love again

If you leave I'll still be close to you
When all your fears rain down
I'll take you back a thousand times again
I'll take you as my own
I would sing you songs of innocence
'Til the light of morning comes
'Til the rays of gold and honey
Cover you
In the sweetness of the dawn
But you're always on the run

You're not alone
You're now a part of me
You feel the cure
I'll feel the toil it brought you
~ Slow your Breath by Future of Forestry

To the Sky, Owl City:

Shipwreck in a sea of faces
There's a dreamy world up there
Dear friends in higher places
Carry me away from here

Travel light, let the sun eclipse you
'Cause your flight is about to leave
And there's more to this brave adventure
Than you'd ever believe

Birds-eye view, awake the stars 'cause they're all around you
Wide eyes will always brighten the blue
Chase your dreams, and remember me, sweet bravery
'Cause after all those wings will take you, up so high
So bid the forest floor goodbye as you race the wind
And take to the sky (you take to the sky)

On the hills of war and wonder
There's a stormy world up there
You can't whisper above the thunder
But you can fly anywhere

Purple burst of paper birds
This picture paints a thousand words
So take a breath of myth and mystery
And don't look back

From Far, Far by Yael Naim:

Far far, there's this little girl
She was praying for something to happen to her
Everyday she writes words and more words
Just to speak out the thoughts that keep floating inside
And she's strong when the dreams come cos' they
Take her, cover her, they are all over
The reality looks far now, but don't go

How can you stay outside?
There's a beautiful mess inside
How can you stay outside?
There's a beautiful mess inside

Far far, there's this little girl
She was praying for something good to happen to her
From time to time there're colors and shapes
Dazeling her eyes, tickeling her hands
They invent her a new world with
Oil skies and aquarel rivers
But don't you run away already
Please don't go oh oh

Stealing this from the real forum. Post your favorite song lyrics here.

Dangerous, KJ-52
"I wanna hit you up ain't got the words to say
Cause all that junk would do is push you farther away
And every time I see you you acting like it's all ok
Your were the last one I ever thought would fall away
I never thought you'd change never thought you'd stray
And run right back to the very things I know you hate
With all you gone through tell me why you go this way
Caught up in the junk going where you came
Caught up on the run your everyday the same
You hold your head up high living it without no shame
And every day it gets a little harder just try to pray
If I could sit you down here's what I would say..

Your wings are broken yet you keep on flying
Every time I talk to you you never recognize it
Holding on to your past yet you kept denying
Try to mask your hurt in all the junk that your trying
Yet I'll be lying if I said its all ok
Your missing church man It's getting worse today
It's obvious that you're hurt that's the role you play
The one where you blame and push everyone away
I have to say that He's the one you need
The one that died crucified now on that tree
And the final thing I have to say now honestly
The one I'm talking about is me.."

"Thistle and Weeds" by Mumford and Sons
But plant your hope with good seeds
Don't cover yourself with thistle and weeds
Rain down, rain down on me
Look over your hills and be still
The sky above us shoots to kill
Rain down, rain down on me

But I will hold on
I will hold on hope

These are not actually my favourite song lyrics but they were very difficult to write and I'm proud of them, even if they are mildly stupid and written in a made up language.

Well. *Shrugs* The above. Some others that have escaped my mind because I've been listening to instrumental stuff lately.

   Ooh! Songs in languages that don't exist! I rewrote a song in Infernal (read: really broken Welsh). I don't remember what it means, but it sounds pretty. A D&D character I play somehow managed to get stuck in a talent show, and I had to come up with something. I figured she'd probably sing something sad and vaguely unnerving.

The two verses I can remember

Gweoedd pry cosz o ddura
Isrannu ein cartrefza
Cofio o saets teuluol
Drain a mieri o'adran gwanol

Ni fyddwn yn taflu fyrn
Ni fyddwn yn rhin
Ni fyddwn byth yn agyrn

That's an odd coincidence. The song I posted was in my language, the Infernal Tongue.

I'm Feeling Patriotic today. ;)

Spoiler

Let freedom ring,
Let the white dove sing.
Let the whole world know that today,
Is a day of a reckoning.
Let the weak be strong,
Let the right be wrong.
Roll the stone away,
Let the guilty pay.
Its Independence Day.
~Independence Day, Martina McBride

American girls and American guys,
We'll always stand up and salute.
We'll always recognize,
When we see ol' glory flying,
There's a lot of men dead,
So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our heads.

My daddy served in the army,
Where he lost his right eye.
But he flew a flag out in our yard,
Till the day that he died.
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me.
To grow up and live happy in the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love has fallen under attack.
A mighty sucker-punch came flying in from somewhere in the back.
Soon as we could see clearly through our big black eye,
Man, we lit up your world like the fourth of July.

Hey, Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly and it's gonna be hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell.
And it'll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you.
All brought to you courtesy,
Of the Red, White and Blue.

"As the world begins to move around you at its pace
And you feel as though you're left alone in empty space
Dream of ways to feel alive
Make a vision of how to thrive
Don't let anyone, anything get in the way of how you survive
Leaving no regrets
Leaving no regrets, no

I love this song, and find the lyrics very relatable. I'm not sure if I hit the meaning of these lyrics correctly, but for me, it sounds like it's talking about addiction.
Quote from: The Sharpest Lives, My Chemical RomanceWell it rains and it pours
When you're out on your own
If I crash on the couch
Can I sleep in my clothes?
'Cause I've spent the night dancing
I'm drunk, I suppose
If it looks like I'm laughing
I'm really just asking to leave

This alone, you're in time for the show
You're the one that I need
I'm the one that you loathe
You can watch me corrode like a beast in repose
'Cause I love all the poison
Away with the boys in the band

I've really been on a bender and it shows
So why don't you blow me a kiss before she goes?

Give me a shot to remember
And you can take all the pain away from me
A kiss and I will surrender
The sharpest lives are the deadliest to lead
A light to burn all the empires
So bright the sun is ashamed to rise and be
In love with all of these vampires
So you can leave like the sane abandoned me

There's a place in the dark where the animals go
You can take off your skin in the cannibal glow
Juliet loves the beat and the lust it commands
Drop the dagger and lather the blood on your hands, Romeo

I've really been on a bender and it shows
So why don't you blow me a kiss before she goes?

Give me a shot to remember
And you can take all the pain away from me
A kiss and I will surrender
The sharpest lives are the deadliest to lead
A light to burn all the empires
So bright the sun is ashamed to rise and be
In love with all of these vampires
So you can leave like the sane abandoned me

Give me a shot to remember
And you can take all the pain away from me
A kiss and I will surrender
The sharpest lives are the deadliest to lead
A light to burn all the empires
So bright the sun is ashamed to rise and be
In love with all of these vampires
So you can leave like the sane abandoned me

We got too many gangsters doing, dirty deeds,
To much corruption and crime in the streets.
It's time the long arm of the law,
Put a few more in the ground.
Send them all to their maker, and he'll settle em down,
Yeah you can bet he'll send em down.

Cause justice is the one thing you should always find,
You gotta saddle up your boys, you gotta draw a hard line.
When the gun smoke settles,
We'll sing a victory tune.
And we'll all meet back at the local saloon.

And we'll raise up our glasses,
Against evil forces, singing.
Whisky for my men,
Beer for my horses.
Whisky for my men,
Beer for my horses.
~Beer for My Horses, Toby Keith

~~~
I feel no shame I'm proud of where I came from,
I was born and raised in the boondocks.
One thing I know no matter where I go,
I keep my heart and soul, in the boondocks.
And I can feel that,
Muddy water running through my, veins.
And I can hear that,
Lullaby of a midnight, train.
And it sings to me, and sounds familiar.
It's where I learned about livin'
It's where I learned about love.
It's where I learned about working hard,
And having a little was just enough.
It's where I learned about Jesus,
And knowing where I stand.
You can take it or leave it,
This is me, this is who I am!
I feel no shame I'm proud of where I came from,
I was born and raised in the boondocks.
One thing I know, no matter where I go,
I keep my heart and soul, in the boondocks.
From "Messidona" by Driver Friendly:
"I got unholy ghosts with their hands around my neck
A delicate reminder to never forget
To hold my tongue except when I try to pray
I open my mouth, try to breathe words out,
But I've got nothing to say
Only skin deep
(The secrets we keep)
Digging into me
(The lives we lead)
Thorn in my side
Getting deeper all the time
Deeper all the time
Only skin deep
I hear voices from the grave whispering my name
Reminding me all the time
"We're only what we leave behind, what we leave behind"
I'm gonna, gotta get out of here
Yeah, I gotta disappear
Learn to live without fear, we'll all live without fear
I'll return like a phantom, swallow cities to feel alive
Spit them out when I'm satisfied
Spit them out when I'm satisfied"
Isolated from the outside
Clouds have taken all the light
I have no control it seems my
Thoughts wander off
Of the time when I tried to
Live life without you
Birds falling down the rooftops
Out of the sky like raindrops
No air, no pride
If being myself is what I do wrong
Then I would rather not be right
Hopes turn into fear and with my
One wing I can't fly
With sunrise embrace my
Dreams tight and that's why
Birds falling down the rooftops
Out of the sky like raindrops
No air, no pride
Birds
To a place without fear, with no moonlight
All I need are trees and flowers and some sunlight
Where memories are being made and where the old one dies
Where love ain't lies
Birds falling down the rooftops
Out of the sky like raindrops
Birds falling down the rooftops
Out of the sky like raindrops
No air, no pride
That's why birds don't fly
~ Anouk, Birds
~~~
[One of my personal favourites, with fresh Celtic tune complimenting this song.]

The curtain has been raised, the wall no longer stands
And from Lisadell to Latvia we're singing as one clan
The curtain has been raised and Europe's all one stage
And the archipelagic icicles have melted like the cage

We don't need no party, just a party band
A continental choir singing hand in hand

They might scare the blackbird but they cannot stop him sing
They may steal the honey but they'll never steal the sting
They may crush the flowers, trample every living thing
But they can't stop the spring

~ Dervish, They Can't Stop The Spring

~~~
Closing the door, leaving behind all that has been
No turn around, life begins out on my own
Follow the sun from day to day, free as a bird
Now is the time to spread my wings out on my own
Come to the conclusion I am in control
Take it with my body and my soul
I can fly over mountains, over seas
I never felt so free in the choices of my life
I can fly over mountains, over seas
I never felt so free in the choices of my life
Closing the door, leaving behind all that has been
Now is the time to spread my wings out on my own
Come to the conclusion I am in control
Take it with my body and my soul
I can fly over mountains, over seas
I never felt so free in the choices of my life
I can fly over mountains, over seas
I never felt so free in the choices of my life
Free in the choices of my life
Free in the choices of my life
From "Moving On" by James:
"Time always unwinding,
All these dead lines in my mind.
Seeds and dreams we planted
Took for granted, didn't prove.
Walking down this road
When my pulse beats slow,
Hope to have you close at hand.
When this cycle ends,
Will it start again?
Will we recognize old friends?
I'm on my way,
Soon be moving on my way,
Leave a little light on,
Leave a little light on."
All the Stars, Ed Sheeran
----
It's just another night
And I'm staring at the moon
I saw a shooting star
And thought of you
I sang a lullaby
By the waterside and knew
If you were here,
I'd sing to you
You're on the other side
As the skyline splits in two
I'm miles away from seeing you
But I can see the stars
From America
I wonder, do you see them, too?
So open your eyes and see
The way our horizons meet
And all of the lights will lead
Into the night with me
And I know these scars will bleed
But both of our hearts believe
All of these stars will guide us home
I can hear your heart
On the radio beat
They're playing 'Chasing Cars'
And I thought of us
Back to the time,
You were lying next to me
I looked across and fell in love
So I took your hand
Back through lamp-lit streets and knew
Everything led back to you
So can you see the stars?
Over Amsterdam
You're the song my heart is
Beating to
So open your eyes and see
The way our horizons meet
And all of the lights will lead
Into the night with me
And I know these scars will bleed
But both of our hearts believe
All of these stars will guide us home
And, oh, I know
And oh, I know, oh
I can see the stars
From America
Frans, If I Were Sorry
I'd crawl through the desert on my hands and knees
Rehearsing my pretty please
Climb the highest mountain if I were sorry
Shout it from the top
Swim under water until my lungs exploded
Walk into the fire if I were sorry
I'd run a thousand miles
Wouldn't stop until I dropped
Wouldn't take a break to breathe
Until I got close enough
Then I'd do it all again
If I really had the chance
But I know deep inside for you
It's just another dance
If I were sorry
I'd give you all the glory
If I were sorry
If I were sorry
It would be a different story
If I were sorry, if I were sorry oh
I'd hold my breath until my face turned blue
I'd rob a bank and the post office too
Swim across the ocean if I were sorry
I'd take a wow of silence
I wouldn't say a single word
Until you really heard if I were sorry
I'd run a thousand miles
Wouldn't stop until I dropped
Wouldn't take the break to breathe
Until I, I got close enough
If I were sorry
I'd give you all the glory
If I were sorry
If I were sorry
It would be a different story
If I were sorry, oh
Now did you ever realise
That your mistake had a price?
Oh, you threw it all away
'Cause you're the devil in disguise
Now would you ever realise
The consequences of your lies?
And would you save the falling tear
Or act as if there's nothing there?
If I were sorry
If I were sorry
If I were sorry
If I were sorry
If I were sorry
I'd take a vow of silence
I wouldn't say a single word
(If I were sorry)
If I were sorry
I'd be on my hands and knees
Begging pretty please
If I were sorry
But I'm not sorry, no
From Two Birds by Regina Spektor:
Two birds on a wire
One tries to fly away and the other
Watches him close from that wire
He says he wants to as well but he is a liar
I'll believe it all
There's nothing I won't understand
I'll believe it all
I won't let go of your hand
Two birds on a wire
One says c'mon and the other says I'm tired
The sky is overcast and I'm sorry
One more or one less, nobody's worried
I'll believe it all
There's nothing I won't understand
I'll believe it all
I won't let go of your hand
Thea Garrett, My Dream
We used to say that dreams could be so true
Where am I? What will I be?
It's my dream which I could share with you
A new day for you and me
Just a smile with warmth in my heart and go all the way
There's so much in life and I'll sing
This is my dream, I want to make it really happen
And make my dream come true
This is my dream, I'll make it if I just believe it
In a fairytale I'll live it, just like a new born star
Fly above like a seagull on the waves
And the sun will shine upon your face
Just believe, follow your heart and make it happen
Grow much brighter and we'll say
This is my dream, I want to make it really happen
And make my dream come true
This is my dream, I'll make it if I just believe it
There is nothing that could stop me
I just want the world to know
This is my dream, and I know that I'll be strong
It will come true because I know I'll make it happen
This is my dream
Britt Nicole, Gold
You were walking on the moon, now you're feeling low
What they said wasn't true, you're beautiful
Sticks and stones break your bones, I know what you're feeling
Words like those won't steal your glow, you're one in a million
This, this is for all the girls, boys all over the world
Whatever you've been told, you're worth more than gold
So hold your head up high, it's your time to shine
From the inside out it shows, you're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)
You're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)
When everybody keeps score, afraid you're gonna lose
Just ignore they don't know the real you
All the rain in the sky can't put out your fire
Of all the stars out tonight, you shine brighter
This, this is for all the girls, boys all over the world
Whatever you've been told, you're worth more than gold
So hold your head up high, it's your time to shine
From the inside out it shows, you're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)
You're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)
So don't let anybody tell you that you're not loved
And don't let anybody tell you that you're not enough
Yeah there are days that we all feel like we're messed up
But the truth is that we're all diamonds in the rough
So don't be ashamed to wear your crown
You're a king you're a queen inside and out
You glow like the moon, you shine like the stars
This is for you, wherever you are
Oh, oh, yeah, yeah, oh, oh,
You're gold
This, this is for all the girls, boys all over the world
Whatever you've been told, you're worth more than gold
(So hold your head) So hold your head up high,
It's your time to shine
From the inside out it shows, you're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)
You're worth more than gold
(Gold gold you're gold)
So don't be ashamed to wear your crown
Mary Spiteri, Little Child
Little child, your look – it pains me
It's an answer your eyes seek
Can't you see what shadow of a soul
I've come to be tired of the scene
Little child, come sit beside me
It's so much I have to say
Stay as free as high winds on the seas
No destiny bringin' lonely tears
Smile, live today, and leave the past behind
Live it up day by day, and surely you may find
That both sorrow and tomorrow aren't worth a thought or two
Look at me and teach me to live again
Little child, your look elates me
It's an answer your eyes give
Now, you see, I'm on the road again
I'm bringin' out what child there's in me
Smile, live today, and leave the past behind
Live it up day by day, and surely you may find
That both sorrow and tomorrow aren't worth a thought or two
Look at me and teach me to live again
Live again
Sing, live today, this moment can't endure
Oh, let us reach for the stars – we'll make it, I'm that sure
Be it sadness, be it gladness, we can start it all anew
Look at me, look at me, and the sun comes shining through
This ship has crashed
We burn down the past
Like ghost-drifted ash
Your photograph
Is all that will last
There's no turning back
Now I'm all alone
The future unknown
Got nowhere to go
But I'll survive, the loneliest nights
Won't give up the fight
Through the void, through the void, through the endless void!
I'll march on and on and on and on without you!
Hear the voice, hear the voice, of the hearts destroyed!
I'll march on and on and on and on without you!
And I'll keep singing our song, 'till tomorrow
The emptiness
It kills like a kiss
The violent abyss
Farewell again
We've come to an end
I'll miss you my friend
Carry on, carry on!
Through the void, through the void, through the endless void!
I'll march on and on and on and on without you!
Hear the voice, hear the voice, of the hearts destroyed!
I'll march on and on and on and on without you!
And I'll keep singing our song, 'till tomorrow
How can I carry on, carry on without you?
(Oh)
Carry on!
We fail, we fall
But just keep walking through it all
Got to face another day
You're here, you're gone
But I had to move along
'Till the darkness starts to fade
We fail, we fall
But just keep walking through it all
Got to face another day
Won't give up the fight ...
Through the void, through the void, through the endless void!
I'll march on and on and on and on without you!
Hear the voice, hear the voice, of the hearts destroyed!
I'll march on and on and on and on without you!
And I'll keep singing our song, 'till tomorrow
How can I carry on, carry on without you?
________
Another very, very relatable song is Avalanche by Bring Me the Horizon
Sad
Cut me open and tell me what's inside
Diagnose me cause I can't keep wondering why
And no it's not a phase cause it happens all the time
Start over, check again, now tell me what you find
Cause I'm going out of frequency
Can anyone respond?
It's like an avalanche
I feel myself go under
Cause the weight of it's like hands around my neck
I never stood a chance
My heart is frozen over
And I feel like I am treading on thin ice
Am I broken? What's the chance I will survive?
Don't sugarcoat me, cause I feel like suicide
Just give it to me straight cause I'm running out of time
I need an antidote, now what can you prescribe
It's like an avalanche
I feel myself go under
Cause the weight of it's like hands around my neck
I never stood a chance
My heart is frozen over
And I feel like I am treading on thin ice
And I'm going under
I need a cure for me cause a square doesn't fit the circle
Give me a remedy cause my head wasn't wired for this world
I need a cure for me cause a square doesn't fit the circle
Give me a remedy cause my head wasn't wired for this world
Cause I'm going out of frequency
Can anyone respond?
Cause I'm going out of frequency
Can anyone respond?
It's like an avalanche
I feel myself go under
Cause the weight of it's like hands around my neck
I never stood a chance
My heart is frozen over
And I feel like I am treading on thin ice
And I'm going under
I need a cure for me cause a square doesn't fit the circle
Give me a remedy cause my head wasn't wired for this world
I need a cure for me cause a square doesn't fit the circle
Give me a remedy cause when it hits, well it hits like an avalanche
Revive.
Sad lyrics about suicide
Cemetary Drive, My Chemical Romance:
"This night
Walk the dead
In a solitary style and crash the cemetery gates
In the dress your husband hates
Lay down
Mark the grave
Where the searchlights find us drinking by the mausoleum door
And they found you on the bathroom floor
I miss you
I miss you so far
And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard
Back home off the run
Singing songs that make you slit your wrists
It isn't that much fun
Staring down a loaded gun
So I won't stop dying
Won't stop lying
If you want I'll keep on crying
Did you get what you deserve?
Is this what you always want me for?
I miss you
I miss you so far
And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard
Way Down, way down, way down, way down
Way down, way down, way down, way down
I miss you
I miss you so far
And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard
I miss you
I miss you so far
And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard, made it so hard
Way down, way down, way down, way down
Way down, way down, way down, way down, way down"
All-time favorite of mine, super inspiring and with a great backstory to it:
Marlene on the Wall
Even if I am in love with you
All this to say, what's it to you?
Observe the blood, the rose tattoo
Of the fingerprints on me from you
Other evidence has shown
That you and I are still alone
We skirt around the danger zone
And don't talk about it later
Marlene watches from the wall
Her mocking smile says it all
As the records the rise and fall
Of every soldier passing
But the only soldier now is me
I'm fighting things I cannot see
I think it's called my destiny
That I am changing
Marlene on the wall
I walk to your house in the afternoon
By the butcher's shop with the sawdust strewn
Don't give away the goods too soon
Is what she might have told me
And I tried so hard to resist
When you held me in your handsome fist
And reminded me of the night we kissed
And of why I should be leaving
Marlene watches from the wall
Her mocking smile says it all
As the records the rise and fall
Of every man who's been here
But the only one here now is me
I'm fighting things I cannot see
I think it's called my destiny
That I am changing
Marlene on the wall
Don't let noteriaty go to your head:
Congratulations ft Matty Mullins, Sleeping With Sirens
Congratulations
(Intro)
[Answering Machine:] Hello. You have reached the voicemail of singer/songwriter Matty Mullins. He's currently away from the phone spending time with his supermodel wife or writing your next favorite record. Leave a message after the beep and he will return your call as soon as possible. Thank you and have a nice day.
[Kellin:] What's up Matty? It's Kellin. Hey, yo dude, um, so I got this track I need you on, man, and I'm really excited about it and I think it's gonna be sick. Uh, kids are definitely not ready for this, man. So give me a call back. Let's change the world. Alright, man. Peace.(end intro)
Welcome to a brand new generation
You don't know
So let me help you understand
You see, you try to build yourself a reputation
So you can prove to everyone that you're the man, yeah.
So why is it us that make you feel so helpless? Whoa.
You better get it out while you still can (while you still can).
'Cause when those lights go on around you
And nobody gives a damn
You're gonna wish that you had taken our advice
That's right
I've been down and out
Now I can't keep my face off a cover
That ain't what it's about
You still have so much left to learn
(hey, hey, hey)
Congratulations
(congratulations)
They say you're the man
(they say you're the man)
Congratulations
(congratulations)
You see I do what you can't
(see I do what you can't, whoa)
And until they go and take my name off of the shelves (guess what)
Congratulations, we're gonna give you hell
(Get 'em Matty)
They try to do it like me
But they do it all wrong
I'll pass the torch when someone better comes along (yeah right)
Congratulations to every label that ever turned me down
Me and my top 20 record aren't too worried about it now
I hope this lesson taught is a lesson learned
Now go and bury your head while me and Kell rule the world!
Congratulations (congratulations)
They say you're the man (yes I am)
Congratulations
(congratulations)
You see I do what you can't
(see I do what you can't, whoa)
And until they go and take my name off of the shelves, ha!
Congratulations (congratulations).
(Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey)
Let's give 'em hell
Could you please give us the spotlight
'Cause I have something to say
You may not like the subject
But I'll say this anyway
We're so sick of all this so-called
Awful music that you play
So could you please do us a favor
Stay the heck out of our way
Congratulations (congratulations)
They say you're the man
(they say you're the man)
Congratulations (congratulations)
You see I do what you can't
(see I do what you can't, whoa)
And until they go and take my name off of the shelves
Whoa, please, 'cause I need to make more room for myself
Whoa! Was that good?
Congratulations (Whoa!)
I'd write a song with lyrics like this for the love of my life... it's not even that complex or long, but there's so much emotion and passion conveyed through them.   If I ever get married and learn to make Trance music, I'd write a song like this 4 her 4 sure  O:-)
Kyau vs. Albert - "Made of Sun"
You keep me walking in light
And you keep me walking outside
You keep me decieving in me
And you keep me staring on you
You are made of sun
Take me to the light
You are made of sun
Take me to the light
Try to achieve in your smile
You were able to conquer my eyes
You keep me decieving in me
And you keep me staring on you
You are made of sun
Take me to the light
You are made of sun
Take me to the light
Total Eclipse of the Heart
Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit lonely
And you're never coming round
Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit tired
Of listening to the sound of my tears
Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit nervous
That the best of all the years have gone by
Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit terrified
And then I see the look in your eyes
Turn around bright eyes, every now and then I fall apart
Turn around bright eyes, every now and then I fall apart
And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you only hold me tight
We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
'Cause we'll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time (all of the time)
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
And there's nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there's only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart
Turn around bright eyes, every now and then I fall apart
Turn around bright eyes, every now and then I fall apart
And I need you now tonight (and I need you now)
And I need you more than ever
And if you only hold me tight (and if you only)
We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right ('cause we'll never be wrong)
'Cause we'll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time (all of the time)
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
And there's nothing I can say
Turn around bright eyes
Dirty Laundry, All Time Low
I don't believe in saints
They never make mistakes
I know it's not my place
Who am I to tell you that you need to change?
Her closet's such a mess
Filled up with all the skeletons she's kept
Nobody's perfect I confess
But she's perfect enough
Without ever dressing up yeah
Dirty laundry is piling in her room
She's got her secrets
Yea I got mine too
I don't care about what you did
Only care about what we do
Dirty laundry looks good on you
Now here's some honesty
Sometimes I trip over your history
Wish I could change my mind
But it's the things I shouldn't see
That always catch my eye
Dirty laundry is piling in her room
She's got her secrets
Yea I got mine too
I don't care about what you did
Only care about what we do
Dirty laundry looks good on you
Looks good on you
Dirty laundry is piling in her room
She's got her secrets
Yea I got mine too
I don't care about what you did
Only care about what we do
Dirty laundry (looks good on you)
Dirty laundry (looks good on you)
Dirty laundry (looks good on you)
It looks good on you
Okay
Hey you, lookin' at me, I'm talkin' to you
I'm Silvia Night shinin' in the light, I know you want me too
Born in Reykjavík in a different league, no damn Eurotrash-freak
The vote is in, I'll fucking win
Too bad for all the others
So congratulations, I have arrived
I'm Silvia Night and I'm shining so bright
Eurovision nation, your dream's coming true
You've been waiting and waiting for me to save you
Wham bam boom
My song – totally cool, no yesterday's news
It is hot okay, really not too gay
I'm coming here to stay
Want a piece of me, listen carefully
You'll be D.E.A.D
So boys and girls around the world
Let's meet next year in Iceland
This topic's a little bit old, but it looked interesting. I love Josh Groban's cover of this song.
Quote from: You Raise Me UpWhen I am down and, oh, my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.
There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.
1. I Desire You ... Wrapped In Plastic
I dream for much time, your coming...
And now that you are with me
I'll never let you go
Everyday I see your face ...
So beautiful and innocent
Is true ... love exist also in death ... and you are the proof
Now I will have you ... forever
So beautiful ...
Any agent can't scratch you
Lipstick to make your lips almost human
I skim you....
But why you are so cold?
Oh yes you lost your warmness in that day ...
Do you remember ?
Now I'll have you... forever ...
Wrapped in plastic
2. Photophobic City
Empty city without soul
Nothing caratteristic only evil make it special ...
If you want kill ... rape or kill yourself
Came in my city ... and you will be at home ...
At every corner ... phobies are ready to eat you..
Don't have fera you are at home now
Too many things in this world to be scared
I must be happy or sad?
Solitude
Angst
Sickness
In my city you are protected
You can die all time you want ...
We stand tall (united)
Watch them fall (divided)
Break the chains and now we'll show them all (fight)
Fight for all you know
When your backs against the wall
Stand against the liars
Stronger than before
When your life becomes a war
Set the world on fire
Proud in all you are
Showing every scar
As your badge of honor
When you can't take anymore
Of what they're living for
Set the world on fire
Some nights you lie, some nights you don't
But they all feel the same.
Sometimes you wish you could turn to stone
And be perfect always.
I, I can't feel like this no more
In the crowd alone,
Cause no one wants to know you, do they?
Don't they?
Right here, but no one's watching.
Here comes the invisible man, that no one turns to see
I'm just another dumb fool who'll never go down in history.
Yeah, you're standing there with the homecoming king
Turning a silver spoon into a diamond ring
Can he make you disappear without anyone noticing?
I believe its time for me to be famous
And out of place
I believe its time for me to move for forward
When I break through
This time I'll, make you
Proud to see me over, come on daylight
Proud of, who you raised
Your shelter, your peacefulness
So this time I'll make you proud
Proud of, who you raised up
You know that I will
Always be here till' the end
Come back so I can say thank you for this
Home cooked meals and a place to rest
My troubled head when you're away
I've passed the test, I've earned an A
Not just in school, but in life
You'll always be right by my side
To help me show, hope to all
That are lost and sick in this dying world
I'll use the love you left behind
I'll change their mind, I'll change their mind
I hope, I hope you smile
When you look down on me
I hope you smile
This can't, we won't know
I hope that I make you proud
This is not what it is, only baby scars
I need your love like a boy needs his mother's side
This is not what it is, only baby scars
I need your love like a boy needs his mother's side
-Second & Sebring, Of Mice & Men
This song is amazing. It makes me think of my own mother, and how, if she ever dies, it will effect me.
Evermore from Beauty and the Beast (2017)
I was the one who had it all
I was the master of my fate
I never needed anybody in my life
I learned the truth too late
I'll never shake away the pain
I close my eyes but she's still there
I let her steal into my melancholy heart
It's more than I can bear
Now I know she'll never leave me
Even as she runs away
She will still torment me
Calm me, hurt me
Move me, come what may
Wasting in my lonely tower
Waiting by an open door
I'll fool myself, she'll walk right in
And be with me for evermore
I rage against the trials of love
I curse the fading of the light
Though she's already flown so far beyond my reach
She's never out of sight
Now I know she'll never leave me
Even as she fades from view
She will still inspire me
Be a part of everything I do
Wasting in my lonely tower
Waiting by an open door
I'll fool myself she'll walk right in
And as the long, long nights begin
I'll think of all that might have been
Waiting here for evermore
This one is adorable ;D
Something There
[BELLE:]
There's something sweet, and almost kind
But he was mean and he was coarse and unrefined
And now he's dear, and so unsure
I wonder why I didn't see it there before
[BEAST:]
She glanced this way, I thought I saw
And when we touched, she didn't shudder at my paw
No, it can't be, I'll just ignore
But then, she's never looked at me that way before
[BELLE:]
New, and a bit alarming
Who'd have ever thought that this could be?
True, that he's no Prince Charming
But there's something in him that I simply didn't see
I See Fire, Ed Sheeran
Oh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin's sons
If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
Calling out father oh
Stand by and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Calling out father oh
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
Oh, should my people fall
Then surely I'll do the same
Confined in mountain halls
We got too close to the flame
Calling out father oh
Hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
And if the night is burning
I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns
Then my brothers will die
And as the sky is falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground
I hear my people screaming out
Now I see fire
Inside the mountains
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
I see fire (oh you know I saw a city burning out) (fire)
And I see fire (feel the heat upon my skin, yeah) (fire)
And I see fire (uh-uh-uh-uh) (fire)
And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side
Bring Him Home, Les Miserables
God on high
Hear my prayer
In my need
You have always been there
He is young
He's afraid
Let him rest
Heaven blessed.
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.
He's like the son I might have known
If God had granted me a son.
The summers die
One by one
How soon they fly
On and on
And I am old
And will be gone.
Bring him peace
Bring him joy
He is young
He is only a boy
You can take
You can give
Let him be
Let him live
If I die, let me die
Let him live
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.
"Corrupted by the simple sniff of riches blown
I know you have felt much more love than you've shown
And I'm on my knees and the water creeps to my chest."
Treat You Better by Shawn Mendes. So many people I know don't like this song, but I don't get it. To me it makes more sense than most pop songs.
"Treat You Better"
I won't lie to you
I know he's just not right for you
And you can tell me if I'm off
But I see it on your face
When you say that he's the one that you want
And you're spending all your time
In this wrong situation
And anytime you want it to stop
I know I can treat you better than he can
And any girl like you deserves a gentleman
Tell me why are we wasting time
On all your wasted crying
When you should be with me instead
I know I can treat you better
Better than he can
I'll stop time for you
The second you say you'd like me to
I just wanna give you the loving that you're missing
Baby, just to wake up with you
Would be everything I need and this could be so different
Tell me what you want to do
'Cause I know I can treat you better than he can
And any girl like you deserves a gentleman
Tell me why are we wasting time
On all your wasted crying
When you should be with me instead
I know I can treat you better
Better than he can
Better than he can
Give me a sign
Take my hand, we'll be fine
Promise I won't let you down
Just know that you don't
Have to do this alone
Promise I'll never let you down
'Cause I know I can treat you better than he can
And any girl like you deserves a gentleman
Tell me why are we wasting time
On all your wasted crying
When you should be with me instead
I know I can treat you better
Better than he can
Better than he can
Better than he can
[close]
Like, you can actually make sense of the lyrics...they're not just random lines put to a catchy beat. They actually describe a situation.
Misery Business is my favorite song from Paramore:
Spoiler
Quote from: Misery Business, ParamoreI'm in the business of misery, let's take it from the top
She's got a body like an hourglass that's ticking like a clock
It's a matter of time before we all run out
When I thought he was mine, she caught him by the mouth
I waited eight long months
She finally set him free
I told him I couldn't lie, he was the only one for me
Two weeks and we had caught on fire
She's got it out for me, but I wear the biggest smile
Whoa, well I never meant to brag
But I've gotten what I wanted now
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now
But God does it feel so good
'Cause I got him where I want him now
And if you could then you know you would
'Cause God it just feels so
It just feels so good
Second chances they don't ever matter, people never change
Once a -----, you're nothing more, I'm sorry that'll never change
And about forgiveness, we're both supposed to have exchanged
I'm sorry honey, I passed out, now look this way
Well there's a million other girls who do it just like you
Looking as innocent as possible to get to who
They want and what they like, it's easy if you do it right
Well I refuse, I refuse, I refuse!
From The Smiths' "Is It Really So Strange?":
I left the South
I traveled North
I got confused - I killed a horse
I can't help the way I feel
Oh yes, you can punch me
I will never stop finding Morrissey's lyrics amazingly humorous, as much as they are brilliant and pleasing.
For the sake of it, from "Still Ill":
I decree today that life
Is simply taking and not giving
England is mine, it owes me a living
But ask me why and I'll spit in your eye
And "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now":
I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour
But heaven knows I'm miserable now
I was looking for a job and then I found a job
And heaven knows I'm miserable now
Some of the best lyrics ever written.
You can find practically anything in the Smiths.
I can't decide, so I'm just going to put 2 of 'em here.
I looked o'er Jordan, and what'd I see?
comin' for to carry me home
A band of Angels comin' after me
comin' for to carry me home
If you get there, before I do
comin' for to carry me home
Tell all my friends I'm comin' too
comin' for to carry me home
It's easy to to lose yourself I know
Can't hear what you're shouting, I'm deaf to your show
It's easy to lose your self-control
Everybody gets high, everybody gets low
I'm ready to lie but say I won't
So tell me your secrets
And join me in pieces
To rot in this garden made of stones
I'm ready to bleed to make amends
And sleep in this dirt we call our bed
So tell me your secrets
And join me in pieces
To fall and rewrite the bitter end
Eternally yours"
But now he lives inside
Someone he does not recognize
When he catches his reflection on accident
On the back of a motorbike
With your arms outstretched trying to take flight
leaving everything behind
But even at our swiftest speed
We couldn't break from the concrete
In the city where we still reside
And I have learned
That even landlocked lubbers yearn
For the sea like navy men
'Cause now we say goodnight
From our own separate sides
Like brothers on a hotel bed
Like brothers on a hotel bed
Like brothers on a hotel bed
Like brothers on a hotel bed
You may tire of me
As our December sun is setting
'Cause I'm not who I used to be
One kingdom's fall is another kingdom's freedom
One sovereign's war is another sovereign's peace
One mother's pride is another mother's sorrow
Their tears both soak the land that they love
