Slagar, Nadaz, Ironbeak, and Stonefleck were all cool characters. Malkariss I liked because he was a talking statue. Nadaz, he was just...evil; Ironbeak, mostly because of his name but also because he was smart and not just annoying like the other blackbirds. Stonefleck was a camouflauge expert, which gave him some advantage over normal beasts. And finally, Slagar. I mostly liked him because he had a good plan that was more than just "attack and kill". He actually captured beloved Abbeybeasts to lower morale and to make them into slaves. I also thought his weapon of choice was pretty neat.
