Title: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Delthion on December 20, 2014, 12:43:43 AM
This is a Sci-fi RP made Rusvul and I. I came up with the basic format, and he did everything else. :D

So, the beasts (including the now reformed vermin) of the Mossflower Republic have developed light travel and a Hyperspatial Dimension Drive (or HSDD for short). The very first ship equipped with this, and it has been christened the M.R.S. Genesis, a few years previously an Ark-ship (a large city-ship) had been sent up through a series of nuclear explosions, and was propelled through stable thrusters. Somehow the food was ruined through the journey and the vermin with the more violent thoughts fought the more peaceful creatures of the ark-ship. They landed on a planet that could support life, the evil vermin had advanced more quickly and the communication array has gone dark, the last received message had been; "Help! The-" That concluded their distress call. The Genesis has a mission to go to the planet and see if there are any survivors or if the vermin have some alien aid that allowed them to massacre the goodbeasts.

The HSDD has been developed to stages 1-3: Stage 1 cuts a 6-month flight by eight days.
Stage 2 cuts a 6-month journey by 20 days. Stage three cuts a 6-month journey by 50 days. Before going into the HSD one would have to cut power to both the weapons and shields, and it would take about 4 minutes to charge the drive and then you would literally fade into a higher dimension and proceed from there. Even though you fade into a different dimension it is still close enough to where ships in our dimension can harm the ship.

The handheld weapons and ship weapons are ion, or Radion, or Proton. THe handheld weapons can be either pistols or rifles, they both have the same stats, Radion is the most powerful but it takes a five seconds to charge, when you press the trigger there is a whine and then after it gets to a rather high pitch it will fire. Ion is the weakest but they will fire instantly, Proton, it a mix of both, it takes two seconds to charge and will do more damage than a ion weapon. The ship weapons have the same basic statistics as the handheld ones, but it doubles the number of seconds to charge, and double the damage. Ion Pulses (the ship will probably have four, two banks set into each side.) Radion Cannons, and Proton Beams.

Ah, finally a sci-if rp! I've been wanting to do one of these for a long, long time. Funny thing is, I actually had an idea similar to this, though somewhat different.

Would you by any chance need a high ranking government diplomat forced upon you by the government and your superior officers.  ;D ;) I think some thing like that would add some flavor to the RP and a bit of inside tension. My character would have high authority given to her by the government but not to much military experience.  ;D

Nah she is more or a glorified baby sister than a diplomat. (As you can tell I don't like ENT) ::) I was thinking of any of the other episodes with more emotionally "irrational" characters.   ;) So do I get the Character?

That's up to Delthion, I think. I think it would be funny if your character only thinks he knows everything, rather than actually being very knowledgeable. He could constantly remind the soldiers of how they should show the govt more respect, and just generally irritate them.

I knew I forgot something!

Rus, accepted but perhaps not cause unconsciousness. Faiy, that's good, she'll probably be just under me, she has authority to give orders but can be countermanded by myself and my first officer, but it is rarely done.

LT also accepted but there are only Lieutenant's or Lieutenant Cmmdr., the Scrambler grenades are fine as long as they don't destroy computers.

And yes we are all on the Genesis.

No, I'm not going with Earth officer ranks, I'm going with Star Trek, and Ensign is the lowest on there.

And Faiy, I wasn't planning on any involvement with the government so it might take awhile.

Not quite, there's not enough development to have a Federation of Planets. Probably, some form of republic though.

Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Delthion on December 21, 2014, 10:32:43 PM
That would be an Ensign then, the specialists are basically the bridge crew and everyone in engineering.
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Rusvul on December 21, 2014, 10:33:12 PM
That's a good point, actually. Is the MHSMP (Multiphasic Hyperspatial Manipulation Project) the military, or just the space agency? Also, are we going with the full name of the ship being the MRS Genesis MHSMP-1392? Or just MRS Genesis? Is the military seperate?

Also, do weapons fire in pulses or beams? Or some variation?
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Delthion on December 21, 2014, 10:37:20 PM
GAHH! So many questions! Well Rus, you are co-runner of this so your input is greatly valued.

I was thinking that it would be a collaboration of the two. Fell name will probably be M.R.S. Genesis MHSMP-0001 since it is the very first one. Ion weapons fire in pulses, Protons fire in beams and Radions fire like cannons.

Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis

I'm assuming that this is more of a military than a space agency, as a space agency might not have acess to military-grade weapons, and probably wouldn't be sent into a highly dangerous area...

Of course, I could be completely wrong. I do need to know if this is a military operation though, because that will ultimately influence how we handle things.
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Rusvul on December 22, 2014, 12:52:26 AM
If I'm not mistaken, this is a military operation run by a space agency who is cooperating with the military. Military needs to shoot space pirates, military can't go to space. Space agency can go to space, space agency can't shoot space pirates. But I am not the one to ask, I might have interpreted incorrectly.

That makes sense. I suppose the diplomat would fit in here as a third party, present to ensure that the military don't break any regulations...

Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis

*raises hand* I think it would be very convenient for me to be the comms officer, not only would I be sitting next to a console the whole time, but as some kind of co-creator it is not unreasonable that I might know when we are being hailed when others might not.

It's not something I really want, per se, but if it makes everything run more smoothly, good enough for me.

Jett I think would be a better doctor, the doctor usually argues with the captain and vice-versa, it might be better to have two people who do that out of character.

You could be the Doctor, or the Ops officer (Monitors sensors, accepts hails, basically is the computers guy) I don't think we have a Tactical/Security officer either (not sure what we're calling it) but if you did that you'd be the guy to lead security teams (if someone boards the ship or something,) you'd probably lead away missions, and you'd be the one to monitor weapons and fix them when they break.

Also, if we were to break away from standard Star Trek ranks and positions a little, you might be in charge of some other thing. Crew's mental health, routine maintenance, you could be a xenobiologist, xenosociologist, xenoarchaeologist, xeno- anything standard.... You might be in charge of fabricating parts to repair, or food to eat, or you could do any number of things that might make sense on a starship.
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis

Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Rusvul on December 23, 2014, 11:59:39 PM
A xenosociologist would study the social and psychological structure of other races, should we come across any. You might even shorten it to 'Xenologist' or something of the like, and study any kind of alien life or culture in all its detail. (-Xeno as a prefix means 'alien,' or 'outside.')
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Jetthebinturong on December 24, 2014, 12:03:27 AM
Sorry to argue but no it doesn't unless by alien you meant foreign in general rather than just foreign from space
relating to a foreigner or foreigners.
    "xenophobia"
        other; different in origin.
        "xenograft"
But yes, that's what I thought and that is what I shall be, I'll make my app tomorrow, I have to leave now

Age: 54
Position (Tactical, Communications, etc): Head Doctor
Rank (Lieutenant, LT Commander, Ensign, Commander, this would have to be someone with very good knowledge of the Sci-fi world, and there could only be one): Lieutenant
Personality: Joseph knows he'll be retiring soon. He tries to be helpful, but sometimes seems uncaring due to his harsh, efficient way of handling injuries and sickness.
Appearance (Don't include clothes please): Brown fur and blue eyes. Has a scar across his left eye.
Accessories (Earrings, necklaces, masks, etc): An electronic med-tool that he uses for medical work; an eyepiece that allows him to see an x-ray view of other beasts

Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis

Name: N/A Though everyone calls her "Silent"

Race: Squirrel

Age: 24

Gender: Female

Position: Engineer

Rank: Outside help, she reports to the different leading heads, though she reports most often to the Engineering head as that was her primary role.

Personality: Quiet. She's quite shy, almost coming across as cold. That having been said, she's very passionate, and sticks true to what she believes, despite what others may think or say. Unlike her avoidance of social contact, her actions would suggest she has a very profound sense of caring.

Appearance: Her fur is pure white, soft both in appearance and by touch, her eyes are blood red and seemingly deep (in that way that draws your attention away from most other things). The excess hair on the back of her head has been pulled into a pony tail (Rose style, for those of you who've seen that cartoon), while the excess front has been allowed to grow out enough to partially hide her eyes.

Accessories: None as of right now.

Weapon(s): Sidearm: 6-round, pre-charged (all charged upon insertion into the gun) Radion. Though it has a back-up Ion capability stemming from the more standard handle clip.
Nova Colt
(http://i59.tinypic.com/k5617d.jpg)
[close]

Haven't decided on a primary, all things considered though, she prefers to fight up close and personal anyway.

Other: She's a tech genius, everything she uses is of her own design, barring an instrument or two. She's had relatively extensive experience with the military as they picked her up extremely quickly (relatively because she IS only 24). Quiet is an understatement, she never speaks to anyone, though all health records would suggest she has no speech impediment.
I will finish this later, but I'm reserving this slot. The blood red of her eyes can also be seen on her fur in some places, far more predominantly on her right side.

Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis

It doesn't start charging until the six round insertion is placed in the chamber (in other words, it starts charging all 6 at the same time, but takes a bit longer) , which has it's obvious time setback. Hence why it has a secondary ion firing option to cover for the 10-14 seconds that she's shot-less. I didn't word it the best first time through, this way seemed the most logical for a fighting scenario.

I'm not really sure how or where to drop in, I guess I'll wait until something important happens.

I was gonna ask, what kind of weapons and defenses is the Genesis equipped with? Do we have photon torpedoes? Phasers? Disrupters? Or just conventional missiles like in Star Trek Enterprise?
Also, so we have shields? Cloaking device?

@Soren. Just read the first post, it explains most of that. And yes we do have shields.

You have several security teams but that's for inside the ship or for away teams. And we can't beam you over there without their shields being down.

Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Delthion on January 06, 2015, 09:10:13 PM
It's sort of like a moon, rocky, not completely desolate, but no vegetation native to the planet, but we can grow things there.

Let's make there be several structures but they're shielded from our sensors, and the Arkship is not crashed, it just doesn't have enough fuel for another take off.

I would propose a few methods to ensure clarity in the RP (Things are very easily confuses or misinterpreted and we have had the problem of people joining in on conversation in which they shouldn't be able to). First off people should post where they are at the moment in bold at the top of each of there posts (even if you just did it in the last one), and secondly any com transmissions should be posted in italics. I think that these simple thing could help clear things up immensely.
Title: Re: The M.R.S. Genesis
Post by: Delthion on January 14, 2015, 04:49:46 AM
Yes, but with the italics that's what you do when you are thinking something, what about having it underlined?

I can join this if you want. Do we only get one character, or can we make 2?

You can make as many as you can handle well.

Gurmly
Race: Mole
Gender: Male
Age: Adult (28 in human years)
Position (Tactical, Communications, etc): The Almighty Janitor!
Rank (Lieutenant, LT Commander, Ensign, Commander, this would have to be someone with very good knowledge of the Sci-fi world, and there could only be one): Chief Petty Officer
Personality and Background: As a child, Gurmly dreamed of greatness. He did everything he could to get a position aboard the Genesis, and needless to say was a tad disappointed when he was given the position as janitor. As a result, he is slow to trust and quick to judge, but still harbors dreams of greatness.
Appearance (Don't include clothes please): His fur is different to the common velvety black most moles have. Gurmly's fur is actually brown, rough, and gritty. This is probably due to his job, yet another reason he hates it. He has brown eyes to match is fur, and is quite small, even for a mole.
Accessories (Earrings, necklaces, masks, etc): A special pair of goggles that enable him to detect dirt, grime, and signs of life, as well as providing communication aboard the ship. Also has a silver ring encrusted with precious stones given as a gift from his family.
Weapon(s): A mop with the handle carved to a point.

Calvariae
Race: Sable
Gender: Female
Age: Young adult (19 in human years)
Position (Tactical, Communications, etc): Junior Communications Officer, handles all of Gurmly's calls and serves as a general assistant to Jenbean.
Rank (Lieutenant, LT Commander, Ensign, Commander, this would have to be someone with very good knowledge of the Sci-fi world, and there could only be one): Ensign.
Personality: Not mutch is known about Calvariae, save that she has a nice streak and a sadistic streak. Some have called it a split personality, others have called it downright manipulation. These people don't last long. Nobody can seem to point the blame at her because there is never enough evidence, but she is almost always guilty.
Appearance (Don't include clothes please): Tall and with fur that seems to shine in the light, a very light blonde that is almost white. She has scathing eyes, one blue and one red.
Accessories (Earrings, necklaces, masks, etc): Several gold bangles, bracelets, earrings, rings, and necklaces, all gold and studded with diamonds and emeralds.
Weapon(s): Several silver daggers, extravagant but effective. Also carries two pistols, one ion, one proton.

Accepted! Sage's character was already taking care of the communications. But since she's a Junior Communications officer that should work. She probably wouldn't have daggers, she would probably have one of the weapons mentioned in the third paragraph of the first post. But besides that everything's great!

Whoops, I read that and then forgot about it. I've changed it just a bit. She still has knives, I mean, they're reliable, but she has a gun now too. Also, she's the one that talks to Gurmly over the headset.

Yes, I thought that we would continue, his characters have not been integrated and though it is rather difficult, we can manage with only the four of us.

I have finished explaining everything from the logs. And you have summarized what the particle weapon is. So now all that we need is ideas about where and how to search for the Colonists and the Insurrectionists.

Maybe the Arkship, when it crashed, burrowed deep underground. The surviving colonists used laser-cutting tools to make an underground cave system, and, breaking downt eh underground part of the Arkship and repairing the terraforming devices, made their own city. Underground. The team would have to travel through the Arkship to do anything....

That sounds good, except for that the terraforming devices that the Insurrectionists left the Colonists were faulty, but if they repaired one using what they could salvage from what was left of the others. That is a good idea! Alright so what's going on, is exactly what Sage said, but they only have one of the devices, so it is about a 100 x 100 area of land that they have for their supplies.

Ok. And how long have they been on the planet?

On a side note, just for fun...

Here's what I thought the Insurrectionists weapons would look like:

And what the Genesis looks like:

And the Arkship, before crashing:

Just saying.
