This topic is to discuss what you think about Moledeep. It is a place in the Redwall book Mossflower the place where the moles and Loamhedge mice stayed from a battle one time. If you have any thoughts on this place you can feel free to mention them here!

Great place, but ah vizh zere 'ad more aboot it. Incidentally, ah alvayz zorta vanted zere tae be a mole in vone o' ze bookz tae vield Martin'z zvord.
Yes I wanted thst too. That could be his secret fortress ;D
Yeah, it sounded interesting, but I think Brian used it only for a way for them to escape the Kotir soldiers in that scene.
I wish it was used more. Otters have a stream, Squirrels the trees, but Moles only had that one spot.
Yeah, but mostly they live at Redwall anyway.
I wish there was more about Moledeep in the Redwall series...
Aye, maybe zomevone could vrite a ztory aboot it!

It appeared in
Mossflower. It was a Mole home, just it was underground, hence its name. ;D
Hmm, I've wondered if Moledeep was the Doomwyte cave......Anyone else think so???
No I don't think so.

But Doomwyte was first discovered by Gonff only, maybe, a few years after the Moles must have left Moledeep. Also, there is no reference it Moledeep sitting on boiling water, as was Doomwyte. It would probably be inhabitable if for the Moles if it was.
It was underground ;)
This might be a little off topic, but... in "Mossflower," if moles had Moledeep. Otters had Camp Willow. Badgers had Brockhall. Mice had Saint Ninians (for arguments sake- as Jacques refers to it as such in TLOL).... where was the squirrel stronghold? What was it called? I mean, Lady Amber was a "Squirrelqueen"- you would think she would have some sort of tree palace or something...
Hmmm.....Not in Mossflower, but in Rakkety Tam there was a squirrelkigdom. I always thought that was a descent from the squirrels of Mossflower.
In the book Bellmaker castle floret (sp?) was a squirrle castle, and as Tam said, there was the squirrle tree "kindom" in the book Rakkety Tam.
Maybe Moledeep got flooded when they flooded Kotir.
Zat vould be a neat story taae...Flood in Moledeep!

Point taken. And yeah, I wish Brian had used Moledeep in another book.I mean, he used Brockhall anuff times.
But after Mossflower, the moles always lived at Redwall.

I always wondered what happened to that-one-mole-place-who's-name-I-never-remember in Lord Brocktree :-[. You know, with the really good food, :D(That's like everywhere in all of the books)where they met Rogg.

Yeah, It probably wasn't remebered by others and it just....died out.
Exactly how big was moledeep? Was it just a huge cavern, a system of small intricate tunnels and passages, a small home, a big town underground??
Also, if lady Amber was a squirrelqueen, does that mean she was royalty, or was that just a title like "Skipper"?

For your first question, the size of Moledeep is never really specified.
For you second question, I don't think that there is "royalty" in that world as there is in this one. Terms like "King" or "Quenn" probably are just names for leaders in that world.

I mean "Queen" spesificlly. "Quean" is a completly different word.
Ha ha. Quean. You make me laugh; much funny. But anyhow, it would be interesting to know how big Moledeep was, or Brockhall for that matter. I knew it was big, with all its rooms and tunnels underground, but how many would it actually be able to hold?
Moledeep was supposed to be the home of foremole and his crew but I think it went the way of Brockhall when the Abby was built. I would have loved to know more about it.
