There's no such thing as a stupid question. ;)
wow i feel like im being tested about my redwall knowledge, and Lutra i kind of disagree :)
Stupid questions are just smart questions said wrong.
Where could one find the Ask Brian Files? I tried searching for it a while ago, but couldn't find it. :( :(
There's links in the General Redwall Information thread.
um do you think the trees in redwall are human size or smaller.
human size, when i was reading Triss or one of the books that included brockhall it had a picture of a tree and then a small door which was the entrance to brockhall

For some reason i always thought they were redwall size but brockhall it even said was huge
Yes well in The Sable Quean picture the door is big and the tree small but in Mossflower picture the tree is Big and the door is small. ??? ???
Well, let's not forget that Mossflower was Brian's second book ever, and Sable Quean was his second-to-last book ever. Big time span in between; maybe he just decided to change the dimensions.
Everybodys arguing over trees? Thats kinda funny.
Not arguing. Debating. Like shrews, y'see?
I didn't know you guys were shrews!?
Were acting like them for this topic, dont bother thanking us, all in the line of duty eh wot ;)
Danflor, did you see how Skipper just changed from a shrew to a hare in midsentence? :D :D :D
I always wondered what Brome looked like.
Hard to say, but I would think he'd look like a young mouse. :P
The appearances of the animals, aside from colorings, markings, scars, etc. never really bothered me since I would be hard-pressed to tell the difference between my hamsters, let alone a strange animal that I didn't know very well.

I completely forgot what his name was. He was a bit odd but in a funny way.
Sorry for the double post but it has been awhile and I want to know something.
What was the name of that one vermin who got hit in the haed with the bucket of water and all he could say from that point on was k'chunk?
Halfchop from Loamhedge, He was hit by a stopper.
Ooh, I liked that part! kachunk!
No no no no! it was like "Kachunk!"
What?
You forgot to CAPITALIZE it and put in the exclamation mark!!!

I wasn't thinking that. I was thinking that the cookies my sis had just taken out of the oven looked good, and that she had just left the room...
Nom! :)
They were pretty good. I ate six.
Um what do you do in "Redwall Roleplaying"? ???
role play... it's somewhere in between writing a fan fiction and being an actor.
It's like writing a book, but with many authors who control different characters.
Ok thanks
one time i'd love to see someone yell redwall and crash through the window of an applebees with a bag of cookies in his hand hahaha have you ever seen that

What is the name of the ship in The Rogue Crew?
Are Wearets (Like the one in Mattimeo and The Rogue Crew) real creatures?
What is the name of the ship in the Bellmaker?
I have a question about the forum. What does it mean when a topic is "sticky"?
Wearets are Not real creatures.

Welcome.... Funny, I remember asking that question just about a month ago when I was new. :D Hope you enjoy the Forum, and welcome to it!

Believe me, I'm gonna be a pretty active member.
Oh, and I have another question. What's the size difference between the animals? In real life a badger is much bigger than a mouse. Infact, I'm pretty sure badgers even eat mice. But in the TV series a mouse is about...half the size of a badger. I'm guessing the latter of the two is the size ratio...?
The size ratio is pretty weird, I've thought of that alot too... It's pretty much what you said, Shrews are pretty small, mice are shorter than others, moles are in between the before said, squirrels are after mice, then otters and hares, next badgers.... By a long shot! Vermin are about the same size except weasels (smaller by a bit) and Wildcats (bigger by alot) and foxes tend to be on the larger side as well... This is my opinion, others may differ.
Okay, thanks. That helped.
My general thoughts on size are that squirrels, stoats, weasels and rats are about six feet tall. Otters, hares, foxes and ferrets are about seven. Badgers are around eight-ten feet tall depending on gender and age. Wildcats would be about eight and quite strong. Mice clock in around five feet, with voles. Hedgehogs are also around five feet but much sturdier in build. Moles are four feet and sturdy, shrews are four feet and a little more wiry. That's always been how my brain sorted it out. I don't like them all being 'realistically' sized, because how would they use the same swords or even live in the same Abbey? How could Martin kill Tsarmina if it was actually the real life sizes?

No, they're just something that Brian Jacques' wonderful imagination thought up.
And I believe it's Wearat (with an a)
A wearet is a weasel/ferret. A wearat is a weasel/rat.
And I googled both of them. They're not real. :P

I beg to differ with you on the hedgehogs part, in the pictures (not saying they are the most accurate) hedgehogs were often some of the tallest, along with otters. I get all my sizing from the pictures.

That is very true. Hedgehogs aren't all that big in real life but in Redwall I suppose they are usually quite big and strong.

If you think about real life though, mice are alot smaller than hedgehogs, and not that much smaller than otters either.

Right, I wondered about that too. Mossflower Country is a fantasy world, so I guess the animals don't have to have the same size-ratios as in real life.
Another of my numerous questions...where did Sanit Ninian's Church come from? And i thought the animals don't have any religion...
P.S.Just because I'm bringing up religion doesn't mean we need to argue over it. I've noticed that religion seems to shut down alot of topics. I find this topic a good place to get questions answered, so let's not get it locked with a pointless arguement.
That's a very good question.... It isn't a church! I forgot which book it's in, but there is a song that explains it.... The sign said "This ain't Ninians!" and after ages of time it became "thiS AINT NINIANS".
Oh yeah. I think I've heard that song. Thanks.
I'm gonna be a regular visitor to this topic...
This is kinda an unanswerable question, but how big is Mossflower Country?
However big Brian Jaques made it! ;)
What was the name of the island with the otters and the island with the hedgehogs?
Ruddaring, and peace island. There are topics for both in the legends and myths board.
I have yet another question. In the first book the redwallers sometimes eat goatsmilk or products made from goatsmilk, like goatsmilk cheese. How do they make goatsmilk without a goat? Infact, they don't even have any cows to make regular milk...

Actually if you have the Redwall cook book, the pictures show the otters are massive compared to the mice whitch is probably the real size.
Yea. Otters are probobly big as foxes.

Barkstripe died in the battle when the wildcats first came, and Bella had a son who went missing after Barkstripe died *hint: he's in one of the other books where Bella is alive*
Okay, got myself another question. How does someone get Dryditch Fever? I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but Thura's sickness seemed to come out of nowhere.
Maybe he entered a dry ditch! HAW HAW HAW! :D JK But sickness comes (at least in out terms) from germs we are exposed to. I could get a cold from a door knob. Or a fever from the phone (Or fone ;D).
Lol, well he was lying in a dry ditch before he went into the abbey.
And my other queston wasn't answered. How do the redwallers make goatsmilk or even regular milk without goats or cows?
They use GREENSAP milk, which is made from roots of some kind.
it was mentioned in redwall bt he probably put it in because he was just starting out writing the series
There's also a more detailed bit about greensap milk and cheese in Outcast of Redwall. It comes up when Sunflash is staying with the Lingl-Dubbo families. It tells how they get the sap and how they then it into cheese.

That's right, but I'm searching for a more specific answer. Unfortunately, this might be an unanswerable question.
I don't believe you'll get a more specific answer than that.
Well, it's not correct - Mossflower existed before the Abbey was built. It's there in the book Mossflower, and in Lord Brocktree, it says that Dotti comes from Mossflower.
Thank you for the answers. This is probably unanswerable

Tam's got you as far as the book, I distinctly remeber the two somewhat smart vermin killing the old hag that took the dibbuns. You're thinking of the time Mokkan took ONE dibbun (and one I wish they had left to the foxes :P) And he didn't fall, he jumped.
AS far as Mokkan vs. Awilt, I'd have to say that Zwilt probably would because Mokkan is a trickster, not so much a fighter where as Zwilt is both, he's a trickster, but he can scrap too.
Zwilt would win.
