I can kind of picture opossums in the Redwall series. I picture them as the vermin.

Rat: But sir! We're tired!
Opposum: *lashes out with his tail* Wot was that?

I don't think so, lemurs (more or less are madagascar animals). I'm not sure if this is true but I figured the animals of Redwall to be native to Europe.
