What food do you like the best?
I like Strawberry fizzzzzz! ;D
Gousim Shrew Shortbread!!
Regardless of my favorite, I need to get the cookbook.
@martins#1fan: I would strongly recommend not double posting, just edit or add extra comments to your first post to begin with. I'm thinking this is just my opinion, but I'm not sure.
Hares pawspring vegitable soup.
@Taggerung_of_Redwall: I need to get the cookbook as well; I've always wanted to try my favorite Redwall food, otters' watershrimp'n'hotroot soup. I love the idea that only the otters are invincible to the spiciness because they have been eating it since they were very young.

I totally agree with you. Reading that part of the fifth book really made me excited to finish the series.
Of course, there's always the random character who can down a ridiciously large portion of hotroot soup and request more pepper added.
And in one book, a crew of dibbuns began eating portions of it and were fine
I have the cookbook and love it but there is one recipe that I wish was in it that is not.....
Skilly and Duff!!!

Yes, I know...that's the strange thing. Because in the Rogue Crew, it is made apparent that the toughest of vermin can't stand it; in fact, it is used as a torture device at one point. (No, I'm not joking!) You'd wonder if this was a mistake on Jacques' part, but it's funnier to think that it was on purpose. Maybe the hootroot soup effects characters based on their moral compass.

That is an interesting idea. So what if we suppose Frodo from the Lord of the Rings consumed the hootroot soup, in what way would it effect him?
My favorite Redwall food? Hmmm.... I'd have to say all those different kinds of cheese, because the sound so amazing. :)
thx for the tip taggerung! ;D
I also need this cookbook! I want to have a go at deeper'n'ever turnip'n'tater'n'beetroot pie, or whatever it's called, exactly... the favorite of the moles, I believe.

I figured that was for humor's sake; he wasn't really hurt by it. :D

Oh great, now this question will keep me up all night! :D
Frodo would need a glass of water. You say that otters eat it when their young? I bet it is the same for the Dibbuns. If I was a Redwall character I would like hotroot peper. I can hold down spicey-ness. So my favorite food is the pasties. sounds yummy!
Good old scones jam and cream! Seriously, they're delicious. Abbot's special abbey trifle is delicious, make it from the cookbook. My favourite drink is strawberry fizz, but October ale is nice as well. I have the Redwall cookbook. If you don't have it, get it. It's as simple as that.
Meadowcream!!! And anything that even involves Meadowcream!!!
October Ale? You guys, you guys, what on earth does that TASTE like? 8O
I love the hares haversack crumble!! I've made it like...three times!! <3

It's hard to explain. It's tastes bubbly, frothy, kind of like... I don't know... A bit like a fruitier version of ginger beer. It's really good. :)
Like a cross between root beer and ginger ale? And where on earth does the "october" part come in?
Yeah, this clinches it. I am getting that cookbook if it's the last thing I do.
Of all Redwall beverages, October Ale is the one I've always wanted to make and try. And a cake. Serisouly, Redwall cakes are awesome.
Have to get the cookbook.

No worries mate. I got the book for my birhday! Here's the recipe:
October AleIngrediants:
- 2 cups ginger beer or ginger ale
- 1 cup grape juice
- 1 teaspoon sugar (omit if using ginger ale)
Method:Combine all the ingredients together and serve chilled.
Is it bad that I read that and the first thing I thought was, "so the difference between ginger ale and ginger beer is a teaspoon of sugar?!" XD What's up with that, man.
I actually think I have all the ingredients for this. I MUST TRY IT. It'd be nice if there were an ebook for the cookbook... hmm. Thanks for the recipe, Tagg! :)
I got the cookbook a while ago. The honey baked apples are AMAZING then I had some October ale and strawberry fizz... it's INDESCIBABLE
Abbot's special abbey trifle is a favourite of mine, nunnymolers are awesome as well. I'm such a dibbun. :)
Squirrelmum's Blackberry and Apple Cake with whipped cream. Very good;best cake batter I've ever tasted. It has such a homey, simple taste.
#1: Candied Chestnut Trifle. #2: Turnip 'n' Tater 'n' Beetroot Pie. #3 Honeyed Scones. #4: Grayling a la Redwall #5: Hotroot Soup
Well, I haven't tried anything yet, but Hotroot soup and Grayling รก la Redwall sound good.
This otter would go for the hot stuff...along with that Strawberry Cordial or October Ale everyone seems to guzzle down. ;D
Yeah. What is strawberry cordial anyway? I sounds delicious. ;D
Just squeeze yourself some strawberry juice and load it up with sugar, chill it in the fridge for a while, and I think that's what strawberry cordial is. That's just my guess, though. That's how the books always seem to describe it. The Redwall Cookbook has a recipe, I think.
Cool. I really REALLY need to get that book.
Like strawberries need any more sugar. ;D I would suspect some kind of bubbly concoction with strawberry cordial (similar to adding Sprite to punch). Or maybe that is what strawberry fizz is....
That's what I thought, too. I'm not sure, though.
Otter's Hotroot Soup 8)
Otter's Hotroot Soup, Woodland Salad, Badger tall cake, Shrew Beer, Otter Hot Yummy Mud (Otter Hot Chocolate), Garlic Herb Cheese Bread, Mossflower Wedge, Lemon 'n Butter Trout, Leek Soup, *yell at mahself tae k'affy dat(Stop it)* Jess Squirrel's Celery with Pine Nuts, Turnip'n tater'n beetroot pie... *Break the screen*

Taggerung you double posted again.
The thought of all those different pasties made my mouth water. And this is a little off topic but where do they get the milk to make the cheese from ???
In Snowfur's Redwall Encyclopedia's FAQ section (You kind find it right here: http://www.sullivanet.com/redwall/faq/rwfaq_universe.htm#rwu_dairy)
it says:
QuoteThis is a good question. There are indeed no cows or goats in Redwall. There are, however, plants that produce milk-like substances. This is what is referred to as "greensap milk". Besides, how could you have an abbeyful of mice with no cheese? ;-)
I'm actually in the process of reading through the books for recipes and figuring them out in my kitchen :) I'm a pretty good cook and want to attend culinary school, so this is a lot of fun for me. So far I've made improvements to the cookbook's Shrimp and Hotroot soup, Deeper 'n ever pie, and several of the desserts. I found brewed dandelion and burdock cordial at the store! It tastes good, fizzy and a little bittersweet.
My shrimp n' hotroot soup uses double the veggie broth (homemade), and is finished with heavy cream and a teaspoon of cayenne pepper. The cream balances the spice out and makes it velvety in texture :)
I can post up any recipes I end up figuring out if you'd all like?
Please do!
That'll be very interesting, Flandor. Please post them!
Candied Chestnuts! I am the sort of person who would have a whole bowl next to me always. ;D
Turnip- n- tater- n beetroot pie, boi 'okey! When you add the cheddar cheese on top, use thick chunks so it doesn't gunk up when you bake it . Yum-yum, burr, aye!
favorite food is candied chestnut trifle wish it
wish i could have it again........
Deeper than ever pie mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
strawberry fizz, scones with strawberries and meadowcream, strawberry tart, strawberry pie, anything strawberry really
My favourite redwall foods are:
1. Cheese.
2. Strawberry.
3. Cake.
4. Juices.
I don't have the cookbook, so I haven't tried most of the Redwall food, but I'd think I'd like trifle, scones, pudding, turnovers, skilly 'n' duff and probably strawberry fizz or October ale. xD Now I want the cookbook....
tarts, that almond bread with cheese, fruit from the orchard, ............................................
deeper'n'ever turnip'n'tater'n'beetroot pie ;D yummy!
Just got my hands on the Redwall Cookbook, and it's sweeeet :D.
Can't say I have a favorite yet-- er, I should say all of them are my favorite ;).
"Skilly'n'duff, that's the stuff, mate I'm tellin' you,"
i havent really tried any but i think candied nuts would be pretty good
Deeper'n'ever pie sounds fabulous. And scones, of course. With meadowcream (whatever that mysterious stuff is).
It is fabulous. I've made it a couple times out of my Redwall Cookbook.
The scone recipe in the Cookbook is pretty good too. As for Meadowcream, someone asked him about it in the "Ask Brian" collections, but I can't recall which volume it was in. (There's links to the Ask Brian collections in this thread - http://redwallabbey.com/forum/index.php?topic=21.0)
strawberry fizz is a good dessert and strawberry pie is "yummy" ;)
strawberries dominate xD
Shrimp & Hotroot soup and Meadowcream pie ;D
1: Otter Rockcreams, just because of how deviously miscreantal they are. ;D
2: Deeper'n'Ever Turnip'n'Tater'n'Beetroot pie, just because. ;D
I haven't tried any, but the otter's hotroot soup and strawberry cordial sounds really good
My favourite redwall food is strawberry fizz and candied nuts. Whenever I eat this food I really remember redwall. It is also a dream food considered in redwall book.
probably great hall cake! in salamandastron.
deeper n' ever pie
Of course it is pie.
Of course it is pie. (Any type.)
Hey, Samoto! Welcome to the forum. If you need to make a change to your post, you can use the modify button at the top right of the post. You don't have to post twice.
All of the Redwall food sounds good to me, but shrimp and hotroot soup is the only food I've tried to make, so I'd have to say that. :)
The Redwall desserts sound really good
I would love to try strawberry cordial, and the pasties with meadow cream sound top-hole, scones drizzled with honey, I cant decide! I should buy the cookbook!
I have tried almost all red wall food and I really impressed with strawberry cordial. It is my favorite and I like to eat it again and again with some pastries.
I would love to try Skilly n Duff
Scones!!
With honey!
And vanilla with lemon juice!
(In the mixture)
I desperately want a candied chestnut......
Great Hall cake *licks lips*
For a drink, strawberry cordial and cider.
For food, I'm a meat and spice lover, so probably watershrimp soup with hotroot pepper. ;)
Fruit preserved in honey :P.
I love spicy stuff so prob. The shrimp and hot root soup the otters always eat
I want to make the hotroot soup.
Deeper'N'Ever Turnip'N'Tater'N'Beetroot Pie! Just because I love the name. :)
Strawbee Cordial for a drink!

Hmm is there really such a thing as hot root pepper? I always thought it was one of mr Js inventions
Yes, I'm pretty sure it's fake. You use chili peppers in the real recipe.
Here's the link to a recipe I found online. I haven't tried it so I don't know if it's good though
