I know there have been several topics having to do with Redwall "movies and ideas" but I hope it is OK to start this one (just delete it if not), one reason was I wanted to have a pole with it. How ever, I don't know how to make a poll on this forum, so I suppose you will have to type your answer. :-\
My question, out of curiosity, is: what Redwall book do you think would make the best movie. Don't just pick your favorite book, but think about how the book's story line works. I know from some of the ones I have read, that there are some that would have better movie story lines than others. Most people pick Redwall or Mossflower, but those two have already been made into cartoons.
I've always wanted to see Brocktree as a movie. And there should be an + poll button in the same bar as reply.
I think the Long Patrol, with Tammo and younger Cregga. It would work out well in my mind because it is very actiony.
Thanks WONWILL. :D
Poll is up now.
They all would be awesome, but I voted for Mossflower. ;)
Mossflower won my vote for these reasons:
We could see how the friendship between Martin and Gonff started
There's Tsarmina. While I'm not particularly crazy about her, how would they portray her on the screen? I'm guessing that she would be a orange/reddish colored wildcat, like they showed on the U.S hardback cover of Mossflower.)
I'd love to see Skipper of Otters. I just love his personality in this book.
We could see what the Mossflower living was like before the Abbey was built.
And, the battle that determined Redwall Abbbey's fate.
I voted for Rakkety Tam because it never really shows anywhere else besides Mossflower except for Martin The Warrior. It'd be cool to see some new heroes and more action.
rackety tam is my favorite book so far so i chose it for a movie.
I chose Taggerung. I'm not exactly sure why, but I thought that would make a good movie.
I liked the Taggerung. May be because it has a good story tine progression, but it lacks some of the big battles that some of the others have. Also, a few of them would be better to make first, such as Redwall (it was the first book written), Martin the warrior (the beginning of the story off Martin), Mossflower (the beginning of Redwall), or Lord Brocktree (the beginning of Salamandastron and first book chronologically)
If it were a series, it could be put in groups too, such as a series will all the books that focased on Martin the Warrior, or all the books that had Salamandastron as the the main location.
I'd say Redwall. It would stand alone as a movie the best. It has the best plot (imho), and the characters are amazing! Cluny gets best villain award I think!
I would prefer "Redwall" and "Mossflower" to be live as a movie though it is out as a cartoon.
Definitely Redwall as it is the first book and the most popular book. It is what gets people hooked!
Other than that, I'm not really sure... all of BJ's books are fantastic!!
Maybe "Taggerung" is a decent option to consider and make it real.
THE LING PATROL ;D
Pearls of Lutra would only work if they made Rosmca the main character, which she isn't, so it might not make that good of a movie.
It would depend on who was in jarge on making the film :-\
triss was movie cause shogg chould be played by jake pitt and triss can be played by gen leger
Even though its already has been made into a TV show, I think Martin the Warrior would do the best as a Redwall movie.
Which would make the best movie.......actually I'm going with Mossflower here. While it has a typical plot of good vs. evil (well, that's all of Redwall) you cannot always determine who is friend or foe. Plus the addition of a character like Gingivere shows that not everyone is simply good/evil because of the family they are born into, rather it is an individual choice whether or not you want to live that way. There's enough battle and drama to keep the movie going. That's why I would pick Mossflower....plus the fact there has been no media adaptation of the story to compare it to.
No wonders The Legend of Luke rocks........
Legend of Luke
Taggerung
Loamheage
Salamnderstron
Mossflower
Redwall
and a personal favorite
Bellmaker
Marlfox
Sable Quean
Raketty Tam

No it isn't! Its the worst book in the Redwall series!
But thats just my opinion :-\
Oi! watch out, cat! Meh, ok, fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I can respect that... Will you tell me your reasoning? I will have to disagree, but I would like to know the reasoning for your opinion. :P.
I go with Doomwyte

I think that the characters are a little lame, some of the events in the book just seemed to be put there to fill up extra space, the plotline wasn't that good, things seemed to just happen randomly at times, and the victory achieved by the good side at the end just seemed to easly accomplished.
And thats why I think that its the worst Rdedwall book :-\
I chose High Rhulain mainly because it is my favorite book, and also because I am working on a fan movie of it. The fan movie won't be sold or published, it is just a fan movie. I may make a topic about it with pictures.
Eh, fair enough. Again, I can respect that, though I would disagree on most of those points. I don't quite remember the ending, so I cannot speak to the good guys winning an easy victory. :P
QuoteWhat book would make the best movie?
ALL OF THEM!! Make a series of movies. :)
But they have to be made in the correct order ... I can't stand silly series that insist on doing "flashbacks" (it's even worse when they keep flashing back or repeating what happen before the advert break within a single episode!). Even though most of the Redwall stories are stand-alone, it would still help to know who Martin was, etc.
Redwall of course.
It could even be tweaked and updated in the movie, to match the structure of the rest of the series.
I think some order would be good. Does need starting with a better known one, of course. Redwall or Martin the Warrior or so.
Zalamandaztron!
The Sable Quean. It has a good story with a few decent plot twists, great characters that anyone of any age can really feel for, drama, action & just feels like it would work on a level that most of the other Redwall novels wouldn't.
However, there are 22 novels &, if a movie were to be made, I'd much rather they stuck with the core novels of the series- Redwall, Mattimeo, Pearls of Lutra, Long Patrol, Marlfox &/ or Taggerung. Possibly add Martin the Warrior & Mossflower to that list as prequels.
The Legend of Luke all the way I am a Taggerung fan to the end but I am also a TLL fan to the bitter end and I think The Legend Of Luke would be the best film but only if they made Martin the Warrior and Mossflower first and if they made like the made Legend of the Guardians :)
MARLFOX! I would be so happy if there was a Marlfox movie.

Amen! Marlfox I think is one of the best written Redwall books!
I choose Marlfox, not because I like it, but because it would be harder to mess it up (it would be hard to have gender changes :P)
It is hard to decide, but they should start with Redwall, then go to Mossflower, etc.

They already have a Redwall, MAttimeo and Martin the Warrior.
They were tv shows. And they were not very good.

I agree, lots of action scenes, I can imagine that part where Tammo killed a ferret with a sling shot in the head right now!

I don't know which to choose! I have several books in mind; The Rogue Crew, Lord Brocktree, The Long Patrol... any of them would be good, in fact! I just want a movie!! :P
There was a group trying to make a Mossflower movie, but they got held up by copyrights. And then shut down. Really a shame.
That's a pity. Would have been nice to compare it to the Redwall movie. When was that?

Oh, gosh, idk. A few years ago? They were on dA, and I was going to voice a minor character. Idk who though.

I haven't been able to decide, either! Somebody should just make one and take my money. As soon as possible.
I choose Pearls of Lutra and Martin the Warrior.

uh, if im right about which legend of the guardians your talking about, then you need to re-think!!! the movie was alright, i didn't really like the fact that IT COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY DOES NOT FOLLOW THE BOOKS!!! beyond the names, i mean!!! you ought to read the books!! no, on second thought don't. it'll just confuse you.(if your talking about the guardians of ga'hoole movie, i mean.)
No the one about the owls and I meant in that stile of animation and the amount of battles that actually showed you what happens in them. I want blood here! And my sister read the books and says that they just tried to fit to much into one film.
I'd like to see Martin the Warrior. It has a strong romance plot, and really shows that not all stories have happy endings. It's my favorite of the 22.
The first one, because it's the most(?) streamlined and straightforward.
And if that works out, then they could start another TV Show with each book getting several episodes! ;D
While I'm at it: you think 13 eppies a book could work again, a different set number, or make each story as long as it has to be ???

Same here!
I would either choose Salamandastron or Taggerung. So I went with Taggerung. I just can so clearly see Taggerung in movie form. Unlike some other books where size is really a problem when your making a movie, Taggerung just seems like good movie material, and no I didn't choose it because it is my 5th favorite redwall book.
Salamandastron would be good to and I can see the size thing not being a problem in this situation. I wonder who would play Ferahgo, Maybe Cillian Murphy?
